SPEAKER 11 :
Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. It’s Friday, February 28th, 2025. I’m Eric Hansen. This week, Elon Musk asks federal workers tough questions, MSNBC unloads some primetime talent, and Mike goes to the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Dallas. Let’s begin at MSNBC, where ratings have cratered and the network is making big changes.
SPEAKER 13 :
I don’t like seeing Joy Reid fired. And I despise what she stands for. I mean, she’s as loathsome a character on cable news as anybody you’ll find. And here I am at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention, surrounded by all these nice, wonderful, warm Christian people, and I feel guilty being happy that somebody finally sent her packing, gave her the door, sent her to the door. I mean, I feel very bad about this. And… Yesterday, she went on a podcast sobbing and weeping and, oh, woe is me. It appears that calling half the country Nazi racists every night doesn’t go over too well, even on MSNBC. And do you remember when she—do we have the juxtaposition, Christian, of when she posted something about white women’s tears? Yes. She said, oh, white women’s tears. Well, I don’t know if black women’s tears are different, maybe more special, but here’s a black woman’s tears who once mocked white women’s tears now that Joy Reid is out over at MSNBC.
SPEAKER 07 :
There’s a thing about both white vigilantism and white tears, particularly male white tears. really white tears in general, because that’s what carrots are, right? They carrot out and then as soon as they get caught, it’s like, bring waterworks. White men can get away with that too.
SPEAKER 08 :
And it has the same effect. My show had value and that, I’m sorry, that what I was doing had value, had value. And in the end, I’m sorry, I try not to cry on TV.
SPEAKER 13 :
Now, am I wrong to enjoy that? Should I feel guilt? Should I be ashamed? And again, I feel like the Lord is going to strike this building with a bolt of lightning. I’m at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention, ecstatic. Oh, my show had value. There was value in calling white people racists. There was value in calling Donald Trump Adolf Hitler every night. There was value at mocking more than half the country. No, lady, there was no value in what you did. You were a disgrace. And now you’re crying? Now you’re sobbing? And I watched that clip last night. When I got into the hotel room, I saw this clip of Joy bawling her eyes out. And I thought of my friend, my dear pal, Peg Hudson. I’ve worked with strong women my whole career. Surrounded by strong women. Peg Hudson, Lene Young, Carolyn Cassidy, Barb Yoder. I mean, I’ve got a list as long as my arm of women in important positions of management and authority. And Peg Hudson’s pet peeve, her hot-button issue, is when women cry in the workplace. There’s no crying in the workplace. You don’t get to cry. You don’t get to sob and weep. Whether you’re a woman or a man, you have to suck it up. This is life. And for Joy Reid, and that was the old how it went, how it started, how it’s going. How it started was her mocking MAGA for crying, mocking white women’s tears, conservative white women. And then after she gets canned, oh, my show had value. And she’s sobbing and heaving and crying. I don’t, it’s hard to feel sorry for her, you know. There really is such a thing as karma. There really is such a thing as what goes around comes around.
SPEAKER 11 :
Elon Musk keeps kicking over the apple carts of the D.C. bureaucracy, and this week he tried a tactic that is common practice at many companies across the country. He asked a simple question. What did you do at work last week?
SPEAKER 13 :
I want you to hear what Trump said about the genius. He was at the White House yesterday talking about the genius of the federal government workers being asked to be accountable for their work. They got an email. And they’re livid about it. They’re furious about it. In fact, let me start with the young federal worker. A woman named M.T. Snyder, who ran to CNN complaining about the email that she got this past weekend saying, tell us what you did last week. List the things that you did on your job last week. Failure to respond will be considered a resignation. Now, that’s all up in the air. There’s a lot of debate and drama about that. Who knows if that’s really going to happen. But it’s genius because if you don’t answer the email, you’re not seeing the email. If you’re not seeing the email, you’re not working. If you’re not working, you shouldn’t be getting a federal pay. You shouldn’t be getting a federal salary. This is not hard. This isn’t a heavy lift. Do your job, show up, and be accountable to your bosses. Listen to M.T. Snyder. This is classic. This is one of the most… Epic clips I think I’ve ever seen on cable news. Here’s a federal worker named M.T. Snyder complaining about the email she received the other day.
SPEAKER 05 :
First, just tell us about this email and what it was like receiving it and what you all have talked about after getting it.
SPEAKER 02 :
Sure. I got this email Saturday afternoon about 3 p.m., and I felt absolutely infuriated getting this email with a demand within 48 hours to provide a response on what I did within the last week or face termination. This is clearly an attempt from Elon Musk to harass and bully and intimidate the federal workforce, which is part of his broader plan to gut the federal workforce and privatize public sector services to ensure that corporations like his own can get more profit. And that makes me really angry. My coworkers as well.
SPEAKER 13 :
You’re really angry at being held accountable for what you did on the job last week. Can you imagine? I picture my boss saying, Mike, what did your show do last week? What were your revenue numbers? What were your ratings? Go through the, I’m furious. You’re asking me to tell you what I did last week? I’m going to say that to my boss? And Trump said it yesterday. The president in the White House said there’s a genius to this email. There’s a genius to being asked, what did you do last week? And the genius lies in whether you answer it at all or not. Here’s what the president said yesterday about Doge’s effort to hold federal workers accountable.
SPEAKER 17 :
The last email that was sent where he wanted to know what you did this week. You know why he wanted that, by the way? I thought it was great because we have people that don’t show up to work and nobody even knows if they work for the government. So by asking the question, tell us what you did this week. What he’s doing is saying, are you actually working? And then if you don’t answer, like you’re sort of semi-fired or you’re fired. Because a lot of people are not answering because they don’t even exist. There was a lot of genius in sending it. We’re trying to find out if people are working. And so we’re sending a letter to people, please tell us what you did last week. If people don’t respond, it’s very possible that there is no such person or they’re not working.
SPEAKER 13 :
They laid a trap. They laid a trap, said, are you working? What did you do last week? How hard is it for you to respond to your boss over what you accomplished? what you did on the job. That’s normal corporate America. That’s what normal people do in insurance agencies and in car washes and in the office. And the federal worker is so enraged at that request, she ran to CNN to complain.
SPEAKER 11 :
And it’s not just federal office workers feeling frustrated and fearful. D.C. Democrats sound pretty desperate too.
SPEAKER 13 :
Check out Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. these people are just idiots.
SPEAKER 01 :
I’m at the point where it’s become really hard to have an intellectual debate with any of these people because the level of stupidity that they are displaying every single day is frankly embarrassing, not just in Congress, but as Americans. And the fact that these people are allowed to say just the most ridiculous things tells you that the dumbing of the United States has arrived because How else do we get a Trump presidency again?
SPEAKER 13 :
Yep, just a bunch of idiots. That’s what led to it. That’s what despair sounds like. You want to hear some more? How about Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, the pride and joy of Texas?
SPEAKER 12 :
These are just the facts. When you look at who’s voting for who, the less educated folk. And when I say educated, I’m not even talking about formal education. I’m talking about people that literally don’t want to read and enlighten themselves on facts. Those are the people that typically vote for the Republicans. And it’s one of the reasons that we have to stop writing in theses as Democrats.
SPEAKER 01 :
Right.
SPEAKER 12 :
Like we want to give you every single little hint. detail that we can find so that you can have all the information but the reality is that the average person that is going out there and voting they’re not paying attention to that and we fail to realize how selfish people are people go out and they vote in their own self-interest right and so you had all these races that showed up and decided that they were going to vote for the other races because they thought hey we are all the same but the reality is that he is a rich racist okay and so when he decided that he was going to look out for somebody it was only going to be other rich white guys Not the rest of y’all.
SPEAKER 13 :
I love the analysis that people only vote to advance their own self-interest. No, no, no. I want to advance your interests, lady. I want to vote for you. You don’t like rich white guys? Well, you want me to vote for a rich black woman like you. Oh, yeah, and she’s rich. Jasmine Crockett is real rich. So those are a couple of the stars of the Democrat Party. I thought, well, let’s look at—this feels like desperation. This feels like panic. This feels like mass anxiety. What about some of the more level-headed Democrats? Like, I don’t know, James Carville.
SPEAKER 14 :
This whole thing is collapsing. I believe that this administration, in less than 30 days, in the midst of a massive collapse— And particularly a collapse in public opinion. De La Vope at Harvard, who’s very good. I used to think once I saw a Harvard youth poll, I discounted it. I’ve come to say it’s a pretty damn good poll. Pretty good guy. He’s gone from 53 approval to under 30 to 39. That’s a collapse. We’re in the midst of a collapse. This is the lowest approval not even close that any president has ever had at a comparable time. Again, that’s a provable fact. So they’re not going to be able to get a debt extension. That’s pretty clear. I don’t think they’re going to be able to pass reconciliation, but I’m not sure. But they’re going to have to go to Hakeem. And that is going to be the equivalent of stacking arms. It’s over. We can’t go without you. And I think the House Democrats, and this is going to shock a lot of people, I think they know exactly what they’re doing and they know exactly what’s going to happen.
SPEAKER 13 :
Now, what I love about it is he knows better. I can’t speak for the wild-eyed antics of Jasmine Crockett or Ilhan Omar, but I’ve covered Carville for years. Guy’s been around 100 years. He knows the score. If he’s going to go on a podcast and lie like that, and he is lying. There’s no poll that shows Trump going from 53 to 39. In fact, you want to hear some polling? Evidently, Carville didn’t catch Steve Karnacki, the NBC pollster, who said this.
SPEAKER 10 :
He’s done some things, proposed some things that are popular, that executive order to expand oil and gas production, the executive order recognizing two sexes. And also, when you look at immigration, there’s all sorts of different ways to ask about it. But the CBS poll here had asked the general Trump administration program to deport immigrants who are here illegally. You see broad support there when it’s asked at the broad level like that.
SPEAKER 13 :
Oh, broad support? Is that what you said, NBC? That was yesterday? The other day, James Carville said the utter collapse is underway. What I like about the James Carville clip, and that to me is way more significant than anything that lunatic Jasmine Crockett or that despicable Ilhan Omar could say. Carville knows better. So if he’s willing to lie like that… He is in utter despair. Politico is right. Democrats are facing complete panic, despair, chaos. They’ve got no plan. They’ve got nothing. And the biggest lie of all is Carville confidently saying, The Democrats know exactly what they’re doing. The House Democrats know exactly what they’re doing. I know exactly. Yeah, yeah, sure they do. Give me some more foghorn leghorn, because they don’t have a clue. They’re lost at sea. We know it. And best part of all, James Carville, you know it.
SPEAKER 11 :
We took the show on the road this week, heading off to the Dallas Metroplex, the site of this year’s National Religious Broadcasters Convention. We ran into many longtime friends there, like former Minnesota Representative Michelle Bachman.
SPEAKER 13 :
We’re talking with Michelle Bachman on the Mike Gallagher Show here at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention. She, of course, sits on the board of the IFCJ, and I am so ecstatic to announce that we were always going to go back to Israel this October. But just do a broadcast from Jerusalem. And I said, why can’t we take some listeners? So we have opened it up. We’re going to be able to have 100 slots for you to join us in person for the Mike Gallagher Show Stand with Israel trip. Because we do stand with Israel, and we support the IFCJ. So I’m ecstatic to announce I’ve got a website. It’s a backdoor website that isn’t quite open to the public, but I’m going to be able to announce it today. If you want to join us… In October, we have 100 slots and only 100. InspirationTravel.com slash S-M-I. S-M-I. Remember that part. InspirationTravel.com slash S-M-I. You don’t have to commit to anything, but you can sign up. We’ll be in touch, and I’ll give you a jump. Because look, once those slots are gone, they’re gone.
SPEAKER 06 :
We’ve got 100 slots.
SPEAKER 13 :
InspirationTravel.com slash S-M-I. If you want to join us in early October for the Mike Gallagher Show visit to Israel.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’ll be a life change. It changes everything. You might know that in your mind, but it goes down into your soul because you’re looking at everything you’ve read over the years or heard, and you’re seeing it with your eyes. It’s one of the most thrilling trips anyone can take. And to go with you on this trip and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, I just want you to know it’ll be a trip like none other. I’ve gone with International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. I urge you to go on this trip with Mike Gallagher. I can’t think of a better tour guide than that. Hey, I’m good. I need to think about this.
SPEAKER 13 :
Look, bring your bags. I’ll give all the drinks. InspirationTravel.com slash SMI. In the time we have left Congress, Michelle, Dean, friend, let’s talk a little bit about today’s Congress, today’s Trump administration. There has been such a whirlwind. I mean, look, you went through some wild times.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’ve never seen a better administration assembled, ever. And clearly this was all very well thought out ahead of time. You couldn’t do it like this any other way. But what I see is a Congress that’s not willing to divide. They want to unite behind the president and achieve his objective and his agenda. Because, you know, when you look at what happened the last four years, it’s hard to believe. It is. But could a political party have made their number one goal the tearing down of America? That’s what they did. Under Donald Trump, it’s the building up of America. What young person wouldn’t want to live in a nation where the nation’s building up, where there’s better jobs, they can make more money, have a better life? I mean, what Donald Trump is doing for this next generation is miraculous.
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s incredible. Every day feels like Christmas. But it’s like a firehouse.
SPEAKER 06 :
Because I served during Barack Obama’s tenure.
SPEAKER 13 :
I know.
SPEAKER 06 :
And I was his number one nemesis at that time. You were a thorn in his side. And I’m grateful that I was.
SPEAKER 13 :
Badge of honor. Well, I’m grateful to see you again. It’s been too long. It’s been too long. And maybe we’ll see you in Israel in October.
SPEAKER 06 :
I would love. Everybody needs to go on that trip.
SPEAKER 13 :

SPEAKER 11 :
This is the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. There’s bad news out of the Vatican in Rome. Pope Francis is reportedly gravely ill.
SPEAKER 13 :
I just saw a report come across one of our news services about Pope Francis and the critical condition he is in. This is a difficult subject for me. I’m intrigued by the whole process of… when a pope passes away, how they go through the whole conclave. In fact, I watched a movie a week or two ago on an airplane about that process called Conclave. This thing turned out to be one of the most blasphemous movies I’ve ever seen. If you’re a Catholic, have you seen this movie about picking a new pope when a pope dies? Spoiler alert, it is one of the craziest endings. I guess it’s based on a book. And it has a very novel ending. Let’s just put it that way. I don’t want to, I mean, I don’t care about ruining the movie, but for somebody who wants to see it. The performance, is it Ray Fine? Isn’t that who’s the star of it? And he plays the kind of tortured cardinal that’s leading. And the conclave stuff is fascinating to me. I mean, I’m not a Catholic, but the idea of watching for the smoke and thousands of people gather on St. Peter’s Square and the cardinals go through all these different votes. And, you know, if it’s black smoke, they haven’t picked a pope yet. If it’s white smoke, everybody cheers and there’s a new pope. And I’m seeing some stuff on social media because Pope Francis is apparently very, very sick. He’s got a very complicated lung condition, a lung infection that has led to kidney failure. And he is apparently not long for this world. And here’s the problem. And this is what’s hard for me. to say because I don’t want to be a jerk. But I know a whole lot of Catholics who do not like this guy. And I know a lot of non-Catholics who say this guy is absolutely committed to opposing everything Trump stands for. He’s anti-Trump. He’s big-time woke. He is a very progressive pope. For a lot of Catholics, that’s the last thing the Catholic Church needs. Now, I’m mindful of a lot of the Catholic bashing that goes on, and I don’t want to get all swept up into that. But at the end of the day, this is still a very big deal for one of the biggest religious organizations on the planet, to face this kind of a change. So, I don’t know. I mean, maybe there’s a nicer way to put it. Maybe there’s a more polite way to put it. Maybe there’s a more genteel, diplomatic way to put it. Let me hear from a Catholic, as there’s apparently, and I don’t want to be morbid, but it does almost feel like a death watch for Pope Francis, who is apparently very, very ill right now in the hospital. What are your thoughts about the… potential passing any day now of Pope Francis. Again, I don’t want to mischaracterize this, and I don’t want to beat up the Catholic Church. I don’t want to get into a whole back and forth about the Pope and how people feel about, you know, there’s a whole thing there. I’m talking about Catholics. I mean, somebody on my team this morning when we were talking about today’s show said, look, Catholics don’t like this guy. Is that true? If you’re Catholic, let me know what your thoughts are about the possible passing of Pope Francis. The MyPillow mega sale going on right now as Teresa is screening your calls. We’ll dive in and find out a little bit about how you’re feeling about the passing, the potential passing soon of this pope. In the meantime, MyPillow.com. The mega sale is underway. You can get the classic standard MyPillow for as low as $14.98. $14.98 limit of $10, please. The flannel sheets and more, it’s all waiting for you. MyPillow.com. Promo code MikeG. MyPillow.com, promo code MikeG, or call 800-928-6034, 800-928-6034. Kevin, are you from Boston, Massachusetts? You got it, Mike. Well, then you’re the right guy to ask about the Pope.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, we have Bishop Sean O’Malley here, and you say that you characterize Pope Francis as The papacy, I call him Boxer Frank, as being progressive. He’s gone against the doctrines of the church. With him, it’s Vatican III. Really?
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, let me real quick, I’m up against the clock here, but is it fair to say then, Kevin, that a lot of practicing Catholics are not too fond of this guy? Oh, that’s an understatement. All right. I appreciate it, Kevin. Thank you.
SPEAKER 11 :
We’re taking the show back to Israel in the fall, and we had a chance to sit down with Yael Eckstein of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews while we were at the NRB.
SPEAKER 13 :
How do you reconcile with people who are committed to the destruction of the Jewish people? How do you reconcile with people who celebrate little babies being brutally murdered? I’m at a loss for this, Yael. Can you give us some clarity on this and where we go from here?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, I think the same group that’s holding Israel hostage is holding those innocent Palestinian children hostage. It goes back to Hamas. And I look at the scriptures when I have no words and no thoughts and I don’t know where to go from here. I look at the scriptures and I love focusing on the positivity. I love focusing on the love your neighbor like yourself and all the other things. commandments that God gives us to bring more life and love and hope into the world. But there’s a verse that has been coming front of mind to me lately, and it’s, lovers of the Lord despise evil. And God tells us, I did create Amalek. There is Amalek in the world. I did create wicked Haman. There are Hamans in the world. And don’t turn the other cheek when it comes to someone that wants to kill you and your children. Don’t ignore it. Don’t ignore it.
SPEAKER 13 :
You can’t turn a blind eye to it.
SPEAKER 09 :
You can’t ignore it.
SPEAKER 13 :
I also think often of the scriptural verse, and I have this in my heart as we prepare to go back to Israel in October, thanks to your hospitality. Those who bless Israel, I will bless. Those who curse Israel, I will curse. That is scriptural, that’s biblical, and that’s what all of us remember. I had lunch yesterday with some listeners here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and we were talking about going to Israel, and all of them collectively said, I would give anything to go back to the Holy Land. So I’m excited because what the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews provides is life-saving materials to those who are suffering so much. And once again, our show and our listeners are incredibly generous.
SPEAKER 09 :
Wow. We have been able to save so many lives because of your listeners. We’ve placed bomb shelters. We’ve brought food packages. And actually, I’m here at the NRB with the baby Kfir Bibas, his little elephant, his pink elephant. In all the pictures, he’s holding his favorite elephant. And the fellowship has been there with the B-Bus family and all the families of the hostages, supporting them from day one and telling them, Christians and Jews in America love you. Around the world, stand with you. And so before I left, they gave me his pink elephant. I have it here downstairs. Oh, my goodness. And they said, please bring this to Texas. I have it here. I could even bring it up.
SPEAKER 13 :
Oh, my goodness. You have it with you?
SPEAKER 09 :
Wow, look at this. This is baby Kviers.
SPEAKER 13 :
Oh, my goodness.
SPEAKER 09 :
This is what he was holding for the first nine months of his life until the Hamas terrorists kidnapped him. And his family said to me, bring it to America and make sure they never forget. Make sure they never forget.
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, we’re never going to forget. We’re going to keep the Bibas family in our hearts. We’re going to thank you for letting me hold this beautiful little pink elephant, that little baby boy who, you know, if you’re spiritual, if you’re a believer, you know that these children are with their mother in heaven. They suffered an unspeakable, terrible loss. And the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is there to help that family and so many others. So be ready for when we go in October. I want you to help us support the IFCJ. And you have. You’ve helped build bomb shelters. We did the show last time I went, thanks to your hospitality. We were there, and we got to tour through the kibbutz that was the first place that was attacked. We saw the bomb shelters, and those bomb shelters are godsends because people can huddle when the rockets start flying and take refuge in these bomb shelters. I heard so many stories about people on the streets thanking us for the IFCJ because of what you guys provide. Exactly.
SPEAKER 09 :
It doesn’t theoretically save lives. It saves lives practically every single day. I remember going and visiting a school where the fellowship, together with your supporters, helped place a bomb shelter outside the school right at the bus stop. And the day before, there was a rocket attack where they had to get off the school bus and go straight into the shelter. And the children told me, if we wouldn’t have had that shelter there, we wouldn’t have anywhere to go. Wow. And instead, they were in the shelter. And you know what they were doing as they were in the shelter and there were rockets exploding overhead? They were singing songs of praise.
SPEAKER 11 :
Wow. Florida Congressman Byron Donald announced he’s running for the governor of his state. But current governor Ron DeSantis wants his wife, Casey DeSantis, to run. Does that make any sense?
SPEAKER 13 :
Here’s a text from Steven in Dallas. Casey DeSantis running for governor? Ridiculous. No way. Enough with the family dynasties. This all makes Ron DeSantis look like an idiot. Here’s Tampa Bay. Text message says, that must be a really nice governor’s mansion if Ron DeSantis is pushing for eight more years to live in it. Texas, Dallas, you’re absolutely correct. DeSantis needs to find new handlers. His team keeps screwing things up. John from Jacksonville, I’m born and raised in Florida. Florida sunshine through and through, but this is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. Thinking that Casey DeSantis can beat Byron Donalds? I don’t see it. But, on the other side, also from Dallas, Mike, are you kidding? Not too long ago, you were worried about Michelle Obama running for president, yet you seriously think that as popular as Ron DeSantis is, his wife will have a hard time being super competitive or winning? So there’s a vote for Casey. Finally, from Michael in Atlanta, Mike, we have found out that spouses are not good candidates. Just because they’re married to someone who did something of achievement, spouses usually fail. Kitty Dole, Hillary, they all found out the hard way. Michelle Obama spared herself the embarrassment of losing. Ron DeSantis is dead wrong on this. And he’s showing that the fight between him and Trump is still continuing. That’s what I don’t like. I don’t like the friction between Trump and DeSantis. They don’t need to butt heads. They need to be unified. And the last thing we need is a battle between Donald Trump, who has heartily endorsed Byron Donalds, and Ron DeSantis, who wants his wife, evidently, to run. Wayne’s in Naples, Florida. Hi, Wayne. Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show. How are you doing, Mike? I’m good.
SPEAKER 03 :
I’m for running. I moved here about seven years ago. And Ron DeSantis is a great governor, but Byron Donald, I met him personally, and I had to talk with him, and he’s just fabulous. I mean, I could see him even running for higher offices.
SPEAKER 13 :
But I mean, Mike, am I losing it here where I think this is one of the most preposterous things I’ve ever heard. Casey DeSantis running for governor. And I love the governor. I love Ron DeSantis. He does. He’s done a great job. I’m a Floridian. I’m a proud resident of Tampa Bay. I know what he’s gotten done. Now he wants to do a doge in Florida, which is fantastic. But come on, governor. What are you doing here? Yeah, I agree with you completely. Okay, let’s see what others say. I want to get a bunch of callers in here. Kelly in Clearwater, Florida. Kelly, are you in Team Byron Donalds or Team Casey?
SPEAKER 04 :
Team Byron Donalds. I’m a huge DeSantis fan. I voted for him. I think putting Casey up as a runner is a terrible idea. It’ll only harm DeSantis’ reputation in the long run. Yeah. And Republicans always hated that you know, we thought Biden was a puppet just for Obama and his team to get in there for a third term. And why would DeSantis set himself up for that same reputation? It’s just a terrible idea.
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s a bad idea. It’s a bad idea. And I think it hurts… It hurts Governor DeSantis in a big way. And I’m not trying to take a shot at Ron DeSantis. I just think it’s a bad, bad idea.
SPEAKER 11 :
And finally, with all the talk about Doge and accountability, it’s worth having a discussion about the work-from-home phenomenon that swept through the country with COVID-19. Is it time for all of us to head back to the office?
SPEAKER 13 :
And a text from Florida, from the Tampa Bay area, I believe, which to me is a great, great conversation starter. Because I have to admit, through COVID and all the way the workforce has changed over the last few years, this is something that I kind of go back and forth on. But let me read this text about the federal employees who’ve been working from home. And that was their first big thing. Trump got back into office and it was like, you’ve got to come back to work. You’ve got to show up. You’ve got to go to the office. There’s better accountability when you’re in the workplace. It’s much better when you’re working in person. than when you were working from home. And let me read this text from Florida. Working from home like a quarterly bonus is a perk of your job that can be rightfully taken away At any time. Somewhere along the way, these brats got it twisted that it’s a right to work from home. I have to agree with that. And let me tell you why this issue is a struggle for me. My team is spread out all over the country. And we can work from home. Now, it’s a little harder for me these days with Salem News Channel and the cameras and the lights and everything else. But back in the day, I could just plug in a little box and do the show from my living room. And during COVID, we did. And we had cameras set up in my living room and everything else. I know for a fact, in fact, people on my team, and I don’t want to pick on anybody here, but if I’m not in the office, boy, I get to work from home. And it’s like people who, and it’s a great luxury to work from home. I get it. It’s a privilege to work from home. It’s not a right. And if your employer says, nope, sorry, you got to come in, newsflash, you got to come in. This texture is right. It’s like a bonus. You’re not going to be guaranteed a bonus. You’re not entitled to a perk. Working from home is a perk. And if the Trump administration believes that the federal workforce would be more efficient in the office, have you ever seen the office buildings in Washington, D.C.? When I was there last week, driving around in the Uber, They are the most magnificent office buildings in the universe. You don’t see office buildings like this anywhere else. The Red Cross building, that thing looks like a work of art. I’d love to know the value of the building that houses the Red Cross. They’ve got a beautiful, giant Red Cross out in the front. It looks like a big limestone building with pillars. I’m thinking, it’s a Red Cross building. What did that building cost? What does it cost to maintain that building? And that’s the federal government at work. It’s not efficient. It’s not accountable. And Trump wants to change that. That’s why he enlisted Elon Musk. That’s why he’s got Doge in place.
