This week’s podcast dives into a range of topics shaping the nation’s headlines. We begin with a detailed look at a recent terrorist attack in NYC, revealing the sensationalized and often misleading media coverages. As we proceed, the discussion around President Trump’s attire during a solemn ceremony brings both criticism and defense from different quarters. Throughout the discourse, a pattern of selective media reporting emerges, influencing public opinions and perceptions.
SPEAKER 04 :
Here’s something most investors miss. It’s not recklessness that costs people money. It’s being late. Big shifts start quietly in policy meetings and regulatory rooms, long before they hit the headlines. Right now, the AI build-out is driving massive spending in energy, data, and infrastructure. There is a way to potentially benefit from that surge without betting on a single tech stock. To get the full breakdown, visit planwithoxford.com
SPEAKER 05 :
Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. It’s Friday the 13th, March the 13th, 2026. This week, the GOP hedges on the SAVE Act, James Carville flips out over President Trump, and Democrats politicize a funeral. Let’s begin in New York City. Terrorists nearby Gracie Mansion attacking protesters. A pretty remarkable thing happened in New York City over the weekend. There was a terrorist attack. Now, you wouldn’t really know that if you are engaged with the mainstream media or listening to the mayor of New York City. Let me describe what happened in the words of Manny Ukaburawa of the Free Press. Terror on the Upper East Side. Maney writes. Two men tried to detonate homemade bombs on the Upper East Side of Manhattan Saturday. They had, according to reports, been inspired by ISIS and ISIS videos. You can hear someone in one of the videos scream, Allahu Akbar. But you would never know any of that from the mayor’s statement or from much of the mainstream media’s coverage. If you read that or you listened to the mayor’s statements over the weekend, you assumed the bombs were placed by white supremacists in order to harm the Muslim mayor and his wife. Now, this article at the Free Press says, not only did the failed attack expose Mayor Zoran Mamdani and many of his sympathizers in the press as apologists for apparent Islamists, it showed how hard they will work to hide the truth when it’s inconvenient to their worldview. Here’s what actually happened, he writes. The scene took place Saturday afternoon outside of Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s residence. A protest calling itself the Stop the Islamic Takeover of New York City, Stop New York City Public Muslim Prayer, was organized by right-wing influencer Jake Lang to protest Mamdani, an observant Muslim. Lange’s group of about 20 people faced off with a group of about 125 counter-protesters. They called themselves Run the Nazis Out of New York City, Stand Against Hate, looked like a familiar scene in the era of hyper-partisan rage, police officers present to keep the two sides apart, ward off any rioting, and of course protect the mayor. But that plan went sideways when one of the counter-protesters threw an object toward Lange’s group and the officers. It’s about the size of a football with a lit fuse and ran off as it sputtered smoke. You can see the video everywhere with this IED being thrown at the protesters and the cops. Now, when you read, I mean, again, it’s a terrorist attack. The New York Post reports that the suspects told police they attacked because they felt that the protesters had insulted Islam. Law enforcement sources are saying they have been radicalized by watching ISIS videos. The Free Press says New Yorkers look to their mayor when terrorists strike, hoping to rally behind a leader who can communicate the facts, direct the response, and express righteous rage on the city’s behalf. Rudy Giuliani strode through the rubble on 9-11. Bill de Blasio, an avowed progressive, experienced at least four attacks while in office, including a truck rampage that killed eight in 2017. He described each event as what it was, terrorism. Mamdani, well, you see, he’s different. Here was the statement yesterday that Mamdani released. And I quote, yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are. What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are. I want to thank the brave men and women of the NYPD who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Now, the Free Press observes his omissions are remarkable. Instead of denouncing a terrorist attack on the police who serve his city, Mamdani referred to the violence as if it were the weather. No reference to the suspects. No use of even the word terrorism. Fallen soldiers from the Iran war returned home this weekend in a solemn ceremony. President Trump attended and caught some flack for wearing a baseball cap during the proceedings. This is Alan from Massachusetts on the text line. U.S. Army vet. It is not disrespectful to wear a hat while saluting. While you’re outside, you’re required to wear one as part of the uniform. Here’s San Antonio. If you can see the sky, you’re supposed to wear a cover. Nebraska, Mike, military personnel wear headgear. Our commander-in-chief wore his. And finally, from Idaho, hey, Mike, white is bipartisan. He wasn’t wearing a red hat. He wasn’t wearing a blue hat. Here’s Robin in Tampa, Florida. Robin, welcome. How are you?
SPEAKER 01 :
I’m doing well, sir, and thank you for taking my call. I’m a first-time caller.
SPEAKER 05 :
Welcome to the show. I appreciate it.
SPEAKER 01 :
Thank you. I come from a military family. My parents are buried at Arlington National Cemetery. And I did watch the dignified transfer ceremony on Saturday. And let me just preface this by saying I love President Trump. I’m MAGA. I’m a Trump supporter. I voted for him three times. I love President Trump. However, when I did see him wear that baseball cap, Personally, for me, I just found it to be disrespectful. I didn’t think it was appropriate. And I just kept standing there saying, like, take it off, take it off, take it off.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, I understand. But that’s just my opinion. But they’re going to make, and they’re going to certainly make a mountain out of a molehill, as they did, and they’re going to make a big deal out of it. And isn’t it interesting how, like I said a minute ago, Robin, it’s like he does what he chooses to do, and he just doesn’t care about the optics of things. It doesn’t bother him, it seems. He just does it.
SPEAKER 01 :
Yeah, and that’s one of the reasons why I like him. With this decision, I didn’t care for it, but it doesn’t change my opinion of him. I still love him, and I still support him.
SPEAKER 05 :
Gotcha. Thank you, Rob. I appreciate your input very much. I’m glad you could join us. Call again, 800-655-MIKE. Roger’s in Ohio. Hey, Roger, welcome back. How are you, sir?
SPEAKER 09 :
Doing great. How about yourself?
SPEAKER 05 :
Not bad. Happy Monday.
SPEAKER 09 :
Hey, happy Monday to you, too. So what’s your reaction?
SPEAKER 05 :
I’m a U.S.
SPEAKER 09 :
Army veteran myself.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, sir.
SPEAKER 09 :
Want to say that again?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, no, I didn’t mean to interrupt you. You’re an Army veteran? Yes, sir. U.S. Army. God bless you. Thank you.
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m a U.S. Army veteran. I think everybody’s thinking way too much into this. Trump was on an airfield. It’s a little windy out there. Trump has a lot of hair. I think he was just trying to keep that under control. And by wearing the white hat instead of a red hat, shows respect for the families. I think people are just thinking way too much into it, but I would rather see the hat than his hair all over the place.
SPEAKER 05 :
No kidding. And I’d rather see a president wearing a hat than staring at his watch trying to get out of there like he was anxious to go home, like Biden did. The president continues his campaign on Capitol Hill to pass the Save America Act. Some conservative senators are not so enthusiastic. What’s going on here? I just saw Cat Turd, one of the folks that I follow on X. I always have to cringe when I say Cat Turd, but he’s a pretty remarkable social media influencer. And he’s responding to the ABC News headline where John Thune says no to any filibuster changes, even after President Trump is threatening to withhold money. his support for key legislative packages. Somebody wrote of John Thune, a betrayal of America, and Cat Turd writes, nobody wanted this clown as Senate leader. The RINOs voted him in to go against Trump. He’s a fraud. Here’s a text from Dale in Kentucky, in Louisville. Mike, there must be something in this legislation that we don’t know about. These senators that you named are not opposed to election integrity, in my opinion. Well, you know, Dale, I say this lovingly, you are suffering from a big case of naivete. You’re naive. I mean, it’s real simple. Let me describe it the way ABC News describes it in this article about Thune. saying yesterday there would not be any changes to the Senate rules in order to pass the Save America Act. It’s also the article where Thune said that he thinks that this is being influenced by paid social media influencers or a paid influencer network. Oh, really? Where do I send my invoice? Who’s going to pay me? I’d like to know if somebody’s getting paid. There’s nobody getting paid for this. I mean, I’m sure there’s PACs and there’s special interest groups involved on both sides of this. But this is a grassroots demand that election integrity be restored to the United States of America once and for all. So, Dale, to your question, must be something hidden in there. What does it mean? What’s in the SAVE Act? Well, here’s the way ABC News describes it. It’s a Republican-sponsored election reform bill. Restricting mail-in ballots, requiring photo ID at polling places, and mandating that you show proof of citizenship before registering to vote in a federal election. No, Dale, there’s nothing hidden in this. It’s simple. It’s real easy to follow. You’ve got to be an American citizen, and you’ve got to show proof of ID. That’s it. That’s it. Now, you tell me that that’s Jim Crow 2.0. That’s, of course, the goofy Chuck Schumer argument. That’s the Chuck Schumer explanation. Jim Crow 2.0. Blacks aren’t smart enough to know how to get a photo ID. That’s what they’re saying. That’s exactly how they’re describing it. 800-655-MIKE. Speaking of Louisville, that’s where David is standing by and joins us here on Line 3. Hey, David, welcome to the show. How are you?
SPEAKER 08 :
Good morning, Mike. Wonderful show. And, you know, how did we get to this point? A country like ours dealing with this issue is ridiculous. No country has the corrupt voting like we do. We must stop it now. And to answer your question, Thune is receiving $10 million through PACs and Punchbowl News contributions. And Data Republican, she just reverse-engineered the entire model. And she’s on X as we speak, laying it out. You follow the money. Anytime there’s a crime, it’s either money, sex, or power, and we’ve got it all up there in the Senate.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, you said something at the beginning that makes so much sense to me, David. I feel stupid even having this conversation. I feel like my brain cells are dying, that I have to actually have a dialogue about why Americans, American citizens should be the ones that are allowed to vote, and you’ve got to show proof of ID to vote. I feel stupid. And I’m reading this list. The no votes. John Kennedy? You know, I pointed out the other day, I love the guy. He’s the Will Rogers of the Senate. There he is grilling Kristi Noem, offended that she’s in TV commercials. Because, you know, John Kennedy never has any TV time over on Fox News. No, no. And now apparently John Kennedy, so far, is unwilling to step up and say, we are absolutely going to do everything we can to pass the Save America Act. Reverend Jesse Jackson passed away last week. Three former U.S. presidents, all Democrats, spoke at his funeral and tried to turn it into a political rally. The Jackson family was not pleased. Jesse Jackson died last week, and at his funeral, Barack Obama stood up, and instead of listening to the wishes of the family, of Jesse Jackson, in fact, let’s start with Jesse Jackson Jr., who actually, I think, is… aware of the relationship that his father had with President Trump. In fact, I’ve got a video clip of Jesse Jackson praising Donald Trump because President Trump once donated office space to Jackson’s Rainbow Coalition organization in one of Trump’s buildings, something for which Jesse Jackson was very grateful. They actually had a pretty good relationship. I’m told that President Trump was invited to attend the funeral, but he thought it would be too disruptive and it would be too distracting for him to go under the circumstances. Well, probably so, because imagine President Trump sitting next to former President Obama. Here’s what Jesse Jackson Jr., of those who were going to eulogize his father at the memorial service.
SPEAKER 02 :
Do not bring your politics out of respect to Reverend Jesse Jackson and the life that he lived to these homegoing services. Come respectful and come to say thank you. But these home-going services are welcome to all. Democrat, Republican, liberal, and conservative, right-wing, left-wing… Because his life is broad enough to cover the full spectrum of what it means to be an American. We only ask people to come and be respectful in the context of the extraordinary life that he lived.
SPEAKER 05 :
Wow. You kind of get chills because that’s Jesse Jackson Jr. saying, look, this home going service, as he called it, because Jesse Jackson called home. should be open to all because that’s emblematic of the life he lived. Now, look, you could be critical of Jesse Jackson’s politics, his policies. Obviously, he was a Democrat. But what a powerful, grace-filled plea prior to the service by Jesse Jackson Jr. Well, Barack Obama clearly said, decided to tell Jesse Jackson Jr. to go pound salt, to go fly a kite, because guess what? What the travesty that Barack Obama delivered in his so-called eulogy was anything but one of unity, one of non-partisanship. Barack Obama essentially told Jesse Jackson Jr., to heck with your, please don’t bring your politics into the funeral, because I’m Barack Obama.
SPEAKER 06 :
In a time when it can be hard to hope. Each day we wake up to some new assault. on our democratic institutions. Another setback to the idea of the rule of law. An offense to common decency every day you wake up to. To things you just didn’t think were possible. Each day we’re told by those in high office to fear each other and to turn on each other and that some Americans count more than others and that some don’t even count at all.
SPEAKER 05 :
Now, Jesse Jackson Jr. was clearly infuriated by what Obama did. I’ll share with you in a couple of moments what Jesse Jackson Jr. said about three presidents who spoke. Ari Fleischer was the White House press secretary to George W. Bush, and he posted something that is so profound, and I want to read every word of it to you. Ari Fleischer wrote, if you want to know why Donald Trump was elected, Watch Barack Obama’s speech at Jesse Jackson’s funeral. As he did throughout his presidency, he created a straw man to describe Republicans as bigots who forced the American people to, quote, turn on each other, unquote. He said similar crap when he was president, and the GOP was the party of Bush, McCain, and Romney. It’s the language of bitterness that and resentment that makes good people recoil to be described that way. Obama, he says, is one of the most divisive figures in U.S. history, except he is celebrated by the mainstream media because they are partisans. They take sides and loved and protected Obama. This is the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. Nothing drives a Democrat nuts like Republican success, especially when that Republican is Donald Trump. Just ask the raging Cajun himself, James Carville. Maybe James Carville needs some think factor. He needs something. Maybe he needs some serious meds. Or maybe he needs an exorcism. This is from a podcast over the weekend. I saw this last night on X, and I wanted to share this with you. Again, keep in mind, this is not some fringe, you know, guy in his mama’s basement. This is one of the most prominent Democrat political analysts of our time.
SPEAKER 03 :
Look, you fat Trump, if you listen to this, you listen good, because what I’m getting ready to say is what a lot of people in this country speak for, who I speak for. And I speak for a lot of people. You hear me, you fat. This is what we believe. You’re right. I got Trump derangement syndrome. I hate it. And you know what? I don’t want to get rid of it. I don’t want to get better. I want to get worse. I want to hate him more. I pray to God in heaven. God reign the righteous reign of Trump derangement syndrome. Pray for me, Lord. I’m your vessel on this earth. Pray for the people that listen to this. We want more. We want to hate the son of a so much that we can’t see straight.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, you can’t see straight because you look pretty cross-eyed as we’re watching that unhinged performance. Now, is it performance, do you think? You think he’s under the influence of something? Or has he just been shattered by Trump’s presidency? Look at what Mediaite reported just a few moments ago. A stunning new NBC News poll found that President Donald Trump is still more popular than both Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom. Similarly, the GOP polled significantly better than the Democrat Party. I mean, and Democrats do come on top. on the question of which party voters would like to see in control of Congress after the midterms, 50% expressing preference for the Dems, 44% for the GOP. But in terms of comparing Trump to the presumably two Democrat frontrunners, he comes out on top. And it just cracks me up the way Mediaite is breathing into a brown paper bag. Wild new poll! Stunning! James Carville is going to have to be hospitalized. The state of Arizona considered some new specialty license plates this month. You’ll never guess which one the governor there vetoed this week. I always have to ask myself, when I get fired up about a story like this, Katie Hobbs, the governor of Arizona, vetoing a Charlie Kirk memorial license plate, do I get so upset because I knew Charlie, we worked together, we were friends, or am I just having a normal human reaction? I just got a text from our engineer here in Tampa Bay, Robert Haley, who said, Mike, you want to really go through the roof? Check out the Alice Cooper license plate they have in Arizona. You ready for this? Robert’s right. I looked it up. And I’m trying to breathe deep. I’m trying to… The Arizona Department of Transportation… offers a specialty Alice Cooper solid rock license plate. Now, keep in mind, Katie Hobbs said, oh, there’s just no way we could have a Charlie Kirk memorial license plate. That’s too political. No, it’s not too political. She hates Charlie Kirk. These people are awful people. There is actually an Alice Cooper… solid rock license plate. It’s a red license plate that features a photo of rock star Alice Cooper to benefit his solid rock teen centers. You know what the Alice Cooper solid rock teen centers benefit? Music education centers. for teenagers. Now, nothing wrong with that. That’s a nice, noble thing to provide music education for teens in Arizona. But in a state where the governor just vetoed a Charlie Kirk memorial license plate depriving people in Arizona where Charlie lived. That’s where Turning Point is headquartered. So Charlie, his memory can’t be honored by the governor of Arizona. But now Alice Cooper, knock yourself out. $17 of the $25 annual fee benefits music education for teenagers in Arizona. What an embarrassment and a disgrace this Katie Hobbs is. And again, these are mean, nasty people. These are not good people. Am I wrong on this? I mean, especially if you’re in Arizona. What’s your reaction to the governor of Arizona blocking a Charlie Kirk memorial license plate? And I saw the artwork, the design. It’s a beautiful tribute to Charlie. What a crushing blow that is to millions of people around the country. And this is happening in different places around the country. In Florida, I think they wanted to name a street for Charlie. They hated his effectiveness. They hated the way he was winning over young people. And his assassination, simply put, it’s a devastating blow. to the conservative movement. And I think a whole lot of them on the left are real happy with that. I think they’re just fine with that. It turns my stomach. It really does. It makes me sick to my stomach. From the war in Iran to Luigi Mangione, why are so many people in our country rooting against the United States of America? These aren’t philosophical differences or even ideological ones. The conflict is good versus evil. Look, when you look at the media rooting against America in a war with evil, evil Iran that has threatened and tried and has killed Americans for 47 years, look, you see what we’re up against here. And it’s all political. If Barack Obama or Kamala Harris… were the commander-in-chief and they chose to strike Iran, the media would be cheerleading for them morning, noon, and night. We get that. We understand that. But ultimately, good is being portrayed as evil. I’m not kidding you. I went into that bookstore. There’s a restaurant in Tampa called Oxford Exchange. It’s a great restaurant. I go there a lot. I love their food. I love the atmosphere. But it’s like in a big – they have these big bookstore gift shops attached as part of the experience at this place called Oxford Exchange. It’s like a library. And it’s a bookstore. And there was a book – in fact, I took a picture of it. There was a book showing – Luigi Mangione. It’s like a headshot. It looks like he’s a model. And the book is called, I took a picture of it. I’ve got it on my phone. Luigi, the making and the meaning. Luigi. You know, the guy that the police say is a thug who pumped a CEO of UnitedHealthcare full of bullets in his back. wearing his cowardly mask, creeping up behind him and killing this young husband and father because he doesn’t like health care insurance, because he had some beef with the health care industry or the health care insurance industry. Luigi, the making and the meaning. I almost want to call the author of this book, John H. Richardson, and say, what’s it like? to make a martyr out of a cold-blooded killer, according to the authorities. Luigi Mangione. But this is spiritual. We talk a lot about, it was only six months ago that Charlie Kirk was assassinated, and all the teachers and the nurses and the doctors and the counselors who celebrated his murder Do you know how evil that is and sick and twisted? This is a spiritual battle. There’s no way around it. And we’ve just got to accept it. And that’s why we’ve got to pray. That’s why we’ve got to do good. That’s why we have to lift each other up. We’ve got to get through all of this. And we can. And I’m convinced we will. And finally, we talked to our buddy Mark Davis about a recent encounter with a vaccine. Do you and Lisa get flu shots?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes. We did this year. Have there been years where we just kind of… But generally, yes.
SPEAKER 05 :
Why do you ask? So I had my physical yesterday, and my doctor, who is very, I think, skeptical now. I gave a lot of thought last night to vaccines because he said, look, it’s vaccine time. He goes, do you want to get… There’s three offerings. He said flu, pneumonia, and I think one for bronchitis. He said there’s a vaccine against the germ that causes bronchitis. There’s a vaccine against the germ that causes pneumonia. And, of course, there’s the flu shot. I said, well, you know what? Why don’t I just forego the flu shot this year? But what about the other two? He goes, yeah, I think it’s a pretty good idea. Now, he is a little bit vaccine skeptical, definitely on the COVID vaccine. Like, I know he doesn’t want me to get another COVID shot. He absolutely is not on board with any more COVID shots. Yeah. However, he recommended the pneumonia shot. I now can barely lift my left arm. It feels like they took a baseball bat. That needle went in yesterday to my muscle, and I thought, oh, my goodness.
SPEAKER 07 :
50-gauge needle.
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, my gosh. It was a double-barrel needle. And so anyway, and then next week I was supposed to get the bronchitis shot, but then I got to thinking about this. I wonder how many people are vaccine hesitant now because of what we went through with COVID. Now, let me stipulate. I hate this topic. People get mad at this topic. I know people hate the whole debate about COVID and the shots and all that. But I think my doctor is probably pretty typical in as much as I think a lot of doctors are saying, nah, no more on the vaccine. Johnson & Johnson or whatever the brands were. But what about flu and pneumonia shots? I mean, are people now vaccine hesitant about a flu shot?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes. They’re vaccine hesitant about measles for their kids now. Yep. Yeah, they sure are. Down there in your old stomping grounds of South Carolina, every other kid’s got the flippin’ measles now. So it’s like, what? And I get it, because if they hosed us on this, how do you know they’re not hosing us on that? A little bit of a logical flaw, but it’s not a terrible question. So I think just sort of take it case by case. What made you, and not that, listen, probably half of the last 20 years I’ve managed to live without doing the flu shot. What made you specifically go no to the flu, but all of a sudden opt in for the bronchitis shot or whatever else you’re doing?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I just listened to the doctor. I mean, he said, you know, I think the flu is still around, but the wave has pretty much dissipated. He kind of left it up to me. I don’t know why. I just don’t want to. I’m funny about getting all kinds of vaccines now. There you go.
SPEAKER 07 :
Did it have an effect on you? Did you generally take a look at how fraudulent, how spotty, messy, and politically driven a lot of vaccine PR was? I’ll just never forget that a COVID shot was made available to every single American who wanted it 47 times and it was free. And I thought, okay, that’s nice for those who wanted it. Who paid for that? And the answer is we all did. And it was a massive, massive slush fund to Big Pharma.
SPEAKER 05 :
And speaking of the slush fund to Big Pharma, you know, the drug that they say if you do get COVID, this is supposed to be enormously successful and effective. Paxlovid? Mm-hmm. You want to know what that costs? And it’s only like five tablets. It’s only like a – I may be wrong on how many, but it’s a very short regimen, but it’s supposed to be – it’s like $1,600. I mean, so if you don’t have – and with insurance, and in my case, I hate to even put these words out loud, but Medicare – I know. But even on Medicare, $900. That’s with Medicare.
SPEAKER 07 :
And there’s no government price break on that. The government’s not giving us enormous help on that. Gee, I wonder why. Wonder why. The vaccine will make that free for your dog if your dog wants it.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, your dog wants it, we’ll take care of it. Hey, coming soon, the Eminem Extra podcast with Mike and Mark. I hope you check it out because it’s going to be unique only to the podcast space. SPEAKER 04 :
Here’s something most people don’t know. When Warren Buffett was just 13 years old, he didn’t put his money into a savings account. While other kids were earning next to nothing at local banks, Buffett put $114 into a little known investment. Today, that $114 would be worth over $15 million. And it wasn’t a risky trade. It wasn’t even insider knowledge. It was an account that’s been around since 1888, and over the last 25 years, it’s averaged 29% a year. That’s what happens when your money is allowed to compound. Compare that to today’s savings accounts, paying less than half a percent while inflation quietly eats away at your buying power. Buffett understood early. Banks are great businesses, just not for savers. If you’d like to see what some investors call the 29% account, go now to SecretAccount29.com. That’s SecretAccount29.com. SecretAccount29.com.
