SPEAKER 09 :
Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. I’m Eric Hansen. It’s Friday, June 20th, 2025. This week, we share the truth about the Biden administration’s immigration policy, the scary mayor’s race in New York City, and insight from Israel. We begin with the war that rages now in the Middle East.
SPEAKER 03 :
There’s a Democrat effort to block… American military force against Iran. So in a way, the Tucker Carlsons of the world are siding with prominent Democrats who don’t want our military involvement against Iran. It’s a complicated issue. But watching people unload on Tucker, I mean, Mark Levin and Ari Fleischer and others are First of all, I hate it because I really respect and admire and like Mark Levin. It feels like it’s gotten personal between Tucker and Mark. And let me share with you what Tucker’s belief is. You know, I borrowed a page from Tucker in talking about Russia and Ukraine. And Tucker has asked for years a pretty simple question. Do we want to go to war with Russia or not? You want to go to war with Russia? You want our boys to go fight Russia because we’re siding with Vladimir Zelensky and Ukraine? And it sounds like Tucker has the same sort of default position about Israel and Iran. Here he was, courtesy of the war room with Steve Bannon yesterday.
SPEAKER 10 :
I actually really love Trump. I think he’s a deeply humane, kind person. And I am saying this because I’m really afraid that my country’s going to be further weakened by this. I think we’re going to see the end of American empire, obviously. Other nations would like to see that, and this is a perfect way to scuttle the USS America on the shoals of Iran. But it’s also going to end, I believe, Trump’s presidency and effectively end it. And so that’s why I’m saying this. What do you mean by that? That’s coming from you. Look, I knew Bush. I knew George W. Bush. We had family connections to Bush. I knew Bush. Personally, I still see Bush sometimes. And, you know, of course, he hates me. And he does because I criticized him on Iraq. And that war is the sum total from historical perspective of his administration. But I knew him. And he had all kinds of plans for the things that he wanted to do. Domestically. domestically to improve the country and you may agree or disagree but like in his mind he wasn’t just about the invasion of Iraq in March of 2000 he was going to redo social security he was going to take care of the entitlements issue and he really thought it was going to work and you could laugh at that or whatever but the point is the second you get enmeshed in a real war not a fake let’s go bomb the villagers and declare success we don’t even have a good track record like why are the Houthis still there I mean, there’s a whole other question, which is how prepared is the U.S. military for a real conflict? And the answer is totally unprepared. Scary unprepared. I don’t think people understand that. But anyway, the only reason I’m saying any of this is because I really, really care.
SPEAKER 03 :
Now, look, I don’t think anything we just heard from Tucker Carlson is worthy of the kind of vicious personal attacks that people are mounting against him right now in fact i think he speaks to millions of people i believe a whole bunch of people think tucker carlson makes a lot of sense And I say this as a staunch ally of Israel. I want Israel to survive. I am absolutely terrified at the prospect of Iran getting their hands on a nuke. They will wipe Israel off the map. When somebody tells you what they’re going to do, believe them. And that’s what Iran wants to do.
SPEAKER 09 :
There was plenty of discussion leading up to this past weekend’s military parade in Washington, D.C. In the end, it was a great celebration of our men and women in uniform.
SPEAKER 03 :
I can’t think of a better time considering the world’s unrest than a military parade to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. It was magnificent, and it was even better than expected. In fact, even the loonies over on MSNBC were sort of surprised. Well, it doesn’t appear to have been all about Donald Trump. It looked like it was a, I don’t know, celebration of the military and the army. It was also supposed to rain. You know, remember when Tim Walz, the other day, before this catastrophe hit his state, said he’s never prayed for rain more than he was praying for rain to ruin the military parade, which is a nasty, vicious, hateful thing for him to say. A guy who says a lot of nasty, vicious, hateful things. Now all of a sudden he wants everybody to respect others’ humanity. Huh. Well, maybe he’s going to have a change of heart and tone down his rhetoric. Trump joked about the weather forecast because, as President Trump himself observed, the weatherman predicted a 100% chance for rain.
SPEAKER 07 :
Last night was a tremendous success with a fantastic audience. It was supposed to rain. They gave it a 100% chance of rain, and it didn’t rain at all. It was beautiful. And so I asked if they gave it 100% chance, right? 100% it was going to rain like crazy, and it didn’t rain at all. How did they predict 100 years out and 50 years out or 200 years out? They didn’t do too well, the weather people, last night, but it was beautiful.
SPEAKER 03 :
He asks a good question. They’re going to tell us what the weather is going to be like 50 years from now, 100 years from now, all the global warming climate change crazies? They don’t know. But what we do know and what we should know is to honor and respect our military, to have patriotism and a celebration for the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army victory. is a good thing. And as President Trump pointed out Saturday, every other country celebrates their armed forces. Why shouldn’t we?
SPEAKER 08 :
Thank you to Vice President Vance. Thank you to our wonderful First Lady. And above all, thank you to the greatest, fiercest, and bravest fighting force ever to stride the face of this earth, the United States Army. Thank you very much. Because the army keeps us free. You make us strong. And tonight, you have made all Americans very proud. They’re watching from all over the world, actually. Made them all very proud. Every other country celebrates their victories. It’s about time America did too. That’s what we’re doing tonight. And watching this magnificent display, our souls are filled with gratitude for every generation of warriors who have worn the uniform all the way back to the very beginning. So to every veteran across our land and right here in our nation’s capital, including six recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor, we love you, we honor you, and we salute your noble service to our flag and to our country. As we celebrate tonight, we also think of the hundreds of thousands of Army soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice for our nation and selflessly laid down their lives in every war, from the Revolution to the War on Terror. To the Gold Star families with us today, the courage of your heroes is the bedrock on which our entire nation stands. We thank you.
SPEAKER 03 :
This is just amazing. I was watching this thing all day, and I thought, my gosh. For anybody to criticize this, you’ve got to be looking for reasons to find fault with the Trump administration. Rand Paul was allegedly uninvited from the White House picnic. I don’t know what that’s all about. I don’t care. I’m sure Senator Rand Paul can get over it. But evidently he’s miffed at the Trump administration. Maybe that’s why he ran to NBC News and complained about this glorious, patriotic, spectacular military parade on Saturday in our nation’s capital. Maybe you agree with Senator Paul on this. I always think of Rand Paul, some of these guys, there’s good Rand Paul, there’s bad Rand Paul. There’s a lot of good things he stands for, a lot of good things he represents, and I think a lot of us agree with him on many things. I sure don’t agree with him on this.
SPEAKER 09 :
Could the parade have that benefit of encouraging people to sign up and enlist?
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, I’m all for the president appearing and doing enlistment ceremonies at military bases. I’ve been with the president at Dover to receive home our dead soldiers. And so those who have been killed in action and to mourn their loss. But I just never liked the idea of the parade because I grew up in the… 70s and 80s. And the only parades I can remember are Soviet parades for the most part or North Korean parades. And the parades I remember from our history were different. You know, everybody remembers that famous scene of the soldier, you know, dipping the girl and kissing the girl in New York in a ticker tape parade. But we were rejoicing the end of war, and we were rejoicing our soldiers coming home. And that absolutely ought to be commemorated and discussed every year, Memorial Day, Veterans Day. But we never glorified weapons so much. And I know he means well. I don’t think he means for any of this to be depicted in another fashion. But I’m just not a big fan. And then there is the cost. I mean, we’re $2 trillion in the hole. And just an additional cost like this, I’m not for it. Oh, brother.
SPEAKER 09 :
Meanwhile, back in the Middle East, CNN’s resident conservative Scott Jennings found himself unable to leave the country as war broke out. He took some time to share his tale.
SPEAKER 03 :
I don’t want to give anything up that I’m not supposed to ask you, but may I ask you how you got from Israel to Amman, Jordan?
SPEAKER 04 :
Sure. Well, I got up this morning and had arranged for some transportation to take me to the Allenby border gate. which was quite an adventure, I have to tell you. It was a little bit of a chaotic journey to get out of the country, get into Jordan, and get over to Amman. It took me virtually all day to do it. A lot of people are trying to get out because the airspace is closed over Israel. The airport, Ben-Gurion Airport, is closed. So really, the only way to escape is to drive into Jordan. You can’t drive into Lebanon. You can’t drive into these other places. The only way to get out is to go to Jordan and get over to Amman, and that’s what I’m trying to do. It was a little bit of a chaotic experience, but we did make it today.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s the understatement of the week. I know your family. I’ve just been praying for you. I’ve just been following everything you’re doing on social media and just praying for you and making sure that you get out of there safely because it is obviously a very, very challenging time. Let me get your wisdom before we let you go about the role that the United States should play, must play. You know the debate that’s raging. I’m sure you’ve seen the pot shots taken between Mark Levin and Tucker Carlson. Tucker is big. We can’t let them fight it out. This is their war. What do you think about the role of the United States and what we should be doing? Because I’m sure you’re hearing the same pushback I’m hearing from my audience. A lot of people are saying, we don’t want boots on the ground. We don’t want to be really an integral part of this war. But in many ways, Scott, I think we have to be, don’t we?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, we don’t have to put boots on the ground. I mean, my understanding is the principal nuclear enrichment facility is so far underground, we apparently are the only people with the bunker buster bomb big enough to get to it. And we should either use it or somehow allow Israel to use it. That’s my opinion. And I’m following the president’s lead. He has said that America first foreign policy will not allow for Iran to have a nuclear weapon. And I think he’s exactly right because they’ll use it. I mean, they will use it immediately. And it’s bad for us. It’s bad for Israel. It’s bad for the world. So how do you stop them from using it? Well, you destroy it. Or you have some negotiation. But negotiation here, if you leave this regime in charge, I’m just telling you, they’re not going to stop. They can say they will, but you can’t trust these folks any farther than you can throw them. And my view is not only the nuclear weapon is a problem, but look what they’ve done. I mean, they’ve killed Americans, okay? This regime has killed Americans. They plot to kill Americans. They plot to fund and unleash terrorism against Israel and America’s interests around the world. I don’t have any reason to believe they’re going to change their stripes after a negotiation. So I think when you’ve got the head of the octopus in the position we’ve got it in, We should just finish the job or let Israel or help Israel finish the job. And when we do, Donald Trump, the president of the United States, will deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. They should have already given it to him for the Abraham Accords. finish the job on Iran, and he’ll deserve it again because he’ll have made the world a safer and better place. The fight for Western civilization is happening now. The president, Donald Trump, is the leader in that fight, and I think beating Iran right now and cutting off the head of this octopus, eliminating radical Islamic terrorism, and saving the free world, it’s on his shoulders, and he has the power to do it, and I believe that he will.
SPEAKER 09 :
If you have ever wondered whether the Biden administration could have solved the immigration crisis, the latest numbers from the border say it all.
SPEAKER 03 :
The official Mike Gallagher show official doctrine, which I’m sure will result in somebody making fun of me or mocking me. I’m a sycophant. I’m in a cult. I’m not. I believe in the guy. Trust Trump. Trust Trump on the border. Did you see the border crossings number yesterday that came out for May? You know how many people crossed the border illegally and were released into the United States? Now, it was 62,000 in May of 2024 under Grandpa Joe. Year to date, you know what it was yesterday? For May, that was the number. The May number of illegals who were released into the United States? Zero. That’s the official number. Nobody was released into the United States illegally. after an illegal border crossing in the month of May. 62,000, which incidentally proves that this was all intentional. Biden could have stopped it at the drop of a hat because, let’s face it, Trump stopped it pretty much at the drop of a hat. So this was deliberate, it was destructive, and it was intentional. It’s what the Democrats wanted. And Trump stopped that. Trust Trump. The guy knows what he’s doing. MyPillow employees and Mike want to thank you for all your support. SPEAKER 09 :
This is the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. I’m Eric Hansen. An alleged assassin gunned down two Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota after they sided with Republicans on benefits for illegals. Now, it would be easy to assign blame to one party or another, but sometimes evil is just evil.
SPEAKER 03 :
This crazed killer with some kind of a grudge against Democrats. allegedly donned a police uniform and a creepy latex mask. If you haven’t seen the surveillance pictures of this guy, it’s something right out of a horror movie. He shot one Minnesota state lawmaker to death, killed her husband, shot the family dog. The poor dog reportedly had to be put down by the grieving orphaned children of… this poor former Democrat House Speaker Melissa Hortman. And nothing about this makes sense. This story is so bizarre. Of course, you know that by now the guy’s name is Vance Belter, some kind of weird former pastor, owned a security company, worked for a funeral home. Had a wife and five kids and a big, beautiful home, but had a couple of roommates, including the Papa John’s delivery guy who’s sitting on the stoop reading Vance Belter’s text messages. And I’m just looking right now. At the charging document from the state of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, this makes no sense. He’s been charged not with first-degree murder, but second-degree murder with intent not premeditated. Not premeditated? How’s he not charged with first-degree murder? I’m no lawyer, obviously. But does that make sense? Does it make sense that the pizza guy is on the stoop, insisting the guy is a Trump supporter? And what difference does it make if he’s a Trump supporter? What difference does it make if he was a Tim Walz appointee? I was disgusted over the weekend in watching social media start out, oh, he’s a Trump, he’s a Tim Walz appointee. Oh, look at that, he’s one of them. Then apparently the manifesto is released. He’s targeting nobody but Democrats and abortion providers, abortion clinics. And according to the roommate, he’s a Trump supporter. Who cares? And, you know, I’m just going to say this, and I’m going to turn it over to you, because if you think I’ve got the wrong take on this, I don’t mind… welcoming dissent on how I feel. When the crazed, maniacal, would-be killer of all the Republican congressmen he could kill, who nearly killed Steve Scalise when he shot him, and tried to kill the Republicans on that baseball field, when it was revealed he was a Bernie Sanders supporter, I don’t remember any of us blaming Bernie Sanders. I don’t remember any of us blaming Democrats. There is no purpose, there is nothing productive of trying to blame one side or the other. And I think we’ve got to knock it off. I really do. And I would urge our side to do the same thing. Look, I can’t stand Tim Walz. I think the guy is a disaster. And he likely was a big contributing factor to Kamala losing the election. So I’ve got nothing good to say about him. And yes, it seems very notable that Tim Walz is now calling for peace and love and unity after he went and said you need to go out and bully the blank out of Donald Trump. We all got to be bullies if you don’t like Donald Trump, and we got to be meaner. Well, adults in the room can recognize Tim Walz didn’t mean go out and kill people you disagree with.
SPEAKER 09 :
With everything happening in the Middle East, this week seemed like a good time to check in with our friend Yael Eckstein from the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yael Eckstein is our friend from the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Yael, it’s great to have you back on the Mike Gallagher Show. You know how much I… So appreciate what the IFCJ has been doing because I got to believe now with people actually being killed and injured by these missiles raining down upon Israel, you guys are, you know, stepping up and are busier than ever.
SPEAKER 02 :
Thank you so much, Mike, and thank you for always standing with Israel and for American values. It’s something we see and recognize and appreciate so much for you and everyone like you and so many of your listeners. Here in Israel, we are facing a war of historic proportions. You can compare it to 1948 and 1967. This is a war for our survival. The missiles that are launched into Israel by Iran are not like the missiles that were launched by Hezbollah or Hamas. These are over 3,000-pound missiles, ballistic missiles, that are targeting both big city centers like Tel Aviv and Haifa and Jerusalem, but also small towns. I live near Haifa, but in a small suburb. And last night, my house shook as a rocket landed just a few blocks away. So Yes, now more than ever, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is on the ground. We are the humanitarian first responders. We come equipped with food and clothing and the basics for peoples who in a moment had their homes destroyed and have nowhere to turn.
SPEAKER 03 :
If you want to see the work and support the incredible mission of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. I saw, in fact, last night I was watching The Five on Fox News, and Trey Yinkst was doing live reporting. And all of a sudden, you know, he’s got his helmet on. He’s on the balcony of a hotel. The missiles are flying overhead. He’s in Tel Aviv. And there was this massive explosion that you could tell rocked the hotel he was in. And we were seeing that live and in real time. Can you talk, you know, you took me and I visited the hostage square in Tel Aviv. And we went all over the country. I went to the Nova Music Festival site and just watched. Every time I get to go to Israel, it changes my life, and certainly for the better. Can you talk about how jarring it is for missiles to be raining down on cities like Tel Aviv?
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, Mike, the American embassy building was hit. Those very, very strong windows were blown out of the building in a second. Tel Aviv is the center of Israel, just as Jerusalem is and Haifa is in different ways. True. They’re places where people gather, where they have resilience, where we’ve known terror and we’ve been able to get up and recuperate immediately. And we will do that from these attacks as well. But let me tell you about the attack in Bat Yam, where there were many children killed, families killed. We’re seeing images from that attack on the screen. This is one of the poorest neighborhoods in And so the fellowship went and brought in elderly a food box and she wasn’t evacuated, but her windows are all they’re all cracked and she is traumatized from being in the near vicinity of one of these attacks that her whole home shook. And she’s all alone. And when the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews comes and says, this is from Christians in America who love you, who are praying for you, who are providing for you, the tears that came out of her eyes for the first time in so long were actually tears of joy. joy, and hope because the people of Israel right now feel so alone. We’re fighting a war. That’s a war for all people who value life, who look at life as sacred, who, who hold dear to these Judeo-Christian values. Iran, as we know, has been exporting terror that is targeting America, that is targeting Israel, that’s targeting American interests. And this is, uh, If Iran no longer is a threat and they’re no longer exporting Islamic terror throughout the Middle East and throughout the West, it will be a new day of hope for all of us, for America and Israel alike. Because so much of the terror that America has been experiencing and the threats that your government and your heroic army have been keeping from getting to American shores are coming from Iran. That if Iranian… extremists who want to see the whole world turn into Islamic extremists, who want to see the downfall of the West and Judeo-Christian values, if that’s no longer a threat, the future for American children and grandchildren will be one of hope like you can never imagine.
SPEAKER 09 :
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich also dropped by the show this week to share sage words on the future of the Middle East.
SPEAKER 03 :
I feel that a lot of people sort of just oversimplify it and say, look, we don’t want to be involved in a war against Russia, and we shouldn’t be involved in a war against Iran. It’s not that simple, is it?
SPEAKER 01 :
Well, look, it’s pretty understandable, though. You live a normal life. You take your kids to soccer or baseball. Why can’t things be peaceful? And unfortunately, there are moments in time when they can’t be. I just did a newsletter at Gingrich 360 pointing out, you know, that the chant about America being the great Satan starts in 1978. The chant about death to America starts in 1979. The occupation illegally of our embassy, keeping 52 American diplomats hostage for 444 days, is in 1979. The killing of the Marines by Iranian proxies in 1983, 251 Marines are killed. You go back year after year after year, and now we came to a point where I believe the Israelis concluded that Iran was very close to getting a nuclear weapon, and that imagine the missiles you’re seeing hitting Tel Aviv that had nuclear warheads. And you can understand why, from the Israeli standpoint, totally wiping out the Iranian nuclear program is literally a matter of life and death. And frankly, I much prefer to break the regime. I think our goal should be to drive the mullahs out of power and to allow the Iranian people to govern themselves.
SPEAKER 03 :
Incidentally, I encourage everybody to subscribe to Newt’s newsletter, Gingrich360.com. It’s Gingrich360.com. You’ll be a little bit smarter every time you read it. Newt, this is the 10-year anniversary of the time that President Trump came down that golden escalator and announced he was going to run for president. We played a clip earlier of the Jon Stewart’s and the Rachel Maddow’s of the world, who 10 years ago were just laughing and mocking and, oh, he’s a vain billionaire. This is a vanity project. And, of course, I don’t think they’re quite laughing to the same degree as they were 10 years ago. I can’t wait to read Trump’s triumph, America’s greatest comeback. Look, you’re a student of history. You’re a student of politics. There has never been the political story before. of Donald Trump and particularly the biggest comeback in American history. Is there anybody who even comes close by comparison?
SPEAKER 01 :
No, I think, look, the two… Greatest American presidents are George Washington, who created the country, and Abraham Lincoln, who carried us through a civil war. But at the rate Trump is going, I fully believe that Trump will probably be the third most important president in American history. What he’s doing is so consequential. whether passing the big, beautiful bill, which will dramatically improve our economy, make things more affordable, provide for a first step towards balancing the budget, or it is navigating international relations or controlling the border. I mean, you look again and again and Trump is making a difference. And I think the whole point of my book, which is both Trump’s triumph and America’s greatest comeback, is that in a sense, the MAGA movement met the man. It was a combination of the two. It’s the American people who really, really want to change. And it’s President Trump who is capable of mobilizing them, arousing them and then leading the change.
SPEAKER 09 :
And finally, there’s a scary mayor’s race shaping up in New York City. You won’t believe the choice facing the Big Apple.
SPEAKER 03 :
You ought to see what they’re going through in New York. It is the worst possible scenario for New Yorkers who want, like, normal leadership. This is coming down… This is going to come down to, evidently, this lunatic, far-left, police-hating… radical socialist Marxist nutjob named Zoran Mamdani. Zoran Mamdani is the progressives’ delight. He’s their ecstasy candidate. It’s as good as it gets. This guy is makes Jane Fonda look like Maggie Thatcher. This guy is so far left, and it looks like it’s going to come down to, to be the next mayor, Zoran Mamdani or Andrew Cuomo. That’s going to be New Yorkers’ choice. Now look, whatever you think of Andrew Cuomo, it’s got to be Cuomo. What are they going to do in New York if they stop funding the NYPD, which is what this guy wants to do? He’s a defund-the-police nutcase. I don’t think Cuomo wants to defund the police. In fact, Cuomo’s trying to reinvent himself as being a tough-on-crime guy. We’ll get into this a little bit later. The New York Times… did a brutal editorial that is a real fascinating snapshot into how even the New York Times is turning against progressive policies. I mean, the Times editorial painted a grim picture of the condition of New York City. Reflecting the way a lot of New Yorkers feel, New York is becoming, in many ways, a cesspool. And it’s because of failed leadership. And they blame, the New York Times, incidentally, blames Bill de Blasio, that his policies set New York back many, many years. In fact, the New York Times praises Bloomberg’s mayoralty. Now, Bloomberg, of course, a Republican. But it’s just a brutal takedown of this horrific choice that New Yorkers are going to have to make. And, you know, Eric Adams is still in there, but he’s going to have to run as an independent because the Democrats have totally rejected him. But, you know, Cuomo, this is a guy who, remember, resigned in disgrace. He was accused of inappropriately touching or harassing at least 11 women. So and the New York Times at the time that they called for his resignation said that his behavior was part of a larger pattern of bullying people. Well, I guess if it’s between the bully and the guy accused of some untoward things or a defund the police guy, I mean, what choice do you make?
SPEAKER 09 :
