SPEAKER 06 :
From me and Julio at the schoolyard to me and Mike on the radio, Paul Simon is 84 today. Like the library there individually and with Art Garfunkel. And what a day on which we gather. Mike, I am gathering you got that American-Israeli join flag pin on your lapel this morning. Wear it every day. We’ve worn it for two years. Has it ever been more meaningful than today? It’s just, I am, it’s not good to be speechless in our, so just take it, just take it. Just, what a time to be alive. What a remarkable, remarkable moment.
SPEAKER 04 :
And I keep thinking about the blessing of being there in a week after next. We’re going to be in Jerusalem. We’re going to tour the Knesset. I’m going to get access to a number of special guests. It’s going to be a very important, meaningful visit. I’ve been just… yearning to go back. I’ve wanted to go back for so long. We were so close a couple of times, and the trip fell, you know, trips always fall apart because of the war. Now the war is over. Now, look, nothing about this is going to be simple. Already there’s breaking news that Hamas is being accused of already breaking the deal by not returning all of the bodies. Now the live hostages have been returned. All men, incidentally. They killed all the women. And, of course, a lot of analysts and experts believe that they killed the women because they didn’t want the women to be able to share with the world what was done to them. These are monsters. These aren’t humans. These are people below humanity. And I just wonder if, indeed, Hamas futzes around with this peace deal. They’re going to find out. They’re going to find out. What leverage do they have now? I mean, think about that in simplistic terms, which is great. I mean, I don’t want to give them the advantage. 2,000 terrorists have been released as part of this deal back into Gaza. I saw images on social media this weekend. Hamas is already rounding up dissidents and executing them in the streets of Gaza. So, all right, so now we’ve got the hostages back. They’ve agreed to the terms Hamas has. If they don’t agree to the terms… obliterate them. What stops? I mean, you’re going to have more, unfortunately, men, women, and children killed because that’s what Hamas does. They use civilians as shields. But I’m sorry, what other recourse is the world going to have?
SPEAKER 06 :
None. And this is the phrase. And it won’t be a surprise either, because both Trump and Netanyahu have said Trump has looked at Netanyahu and said, look, we have the skeleton of the framework of a peace deal here. This is either going to work or it’s not. And if it doesn’t, then you’ve got to hit the words you use. Finish the job. And it is the strength and decisiveness that Netanyahu has brought to the battlefield. that has awakened everybody, opened their eyes and said, this is what strength, righteous strength, this is what it does, whether it’s America displaying it, Israel displaying it, is it makes evil people go, dang, maybe we better think twice about what we’re doing. And that’s how we got to this actual deal, because every single attempt to deal with Hamas in the past has involved the gradual change. trickle of hostages. These, the living ones, were released in one shot this morning while we all slept in America. The other thing is a complete, complete withdrawal of the IDF, the Israeli Defense Forces, from Gaza territory is Israel is still in half of Gaza this morning as we speak. And they ain’t going anywhere just yet. All in anticipation of a multinational, and yes, we’re part of it, not so much with combat boots on the ground, but supervisory eyes on the ground and in the sky. And various other nations, many of them Muslim nations, participating to make sure this peace holds.
SPEAKER 04 :
So for a year we’ve been told by the woke left that he’s the new Hitler. Today’s front page of the Jerusalem Post has a giant photograph of President Trump And it says, God bless the peacemaker. This is the peace president. Trump is the peace president. Are you kidding me? Have you seen the red caps this morning? Chills. President of peace. The president of peace. And they’re handing those out. I saw a satirical post from one of the funny fake posters on X saying, Showing a crowd of the No Kings protesters. And here’s what it says. My friends and I have been out all day protesting against this ceasefire. We demand a ceasefire that was not arranged by Donald Trump. We will never give up the struggle for peace. We struggle for peace. I mean, what are all these, what are the Greta Thunbergs of the world saying today? They’ve been demanding peace. So you get peace. But let’s talk a little bit about this Saturday. Because in Dallas, in Fort Worth, in St. Petersburg, in Tampa, all over the country, millions of fools are going to take to the streets, banging their pots and pans and saying no kings. But I want you to connect the dots with me for just a moment. Connect these dots. if you had to objectively ask, well, what leads men, women, and children to take to the streets this Saturday for their stupid No Kings protest? What’s the one issue? Well, you know what it is. The issue is ICE. The issue is the mass deportation and the enforcement of law and strengthening law enforcement in cities like Dallas, like cities all over the country, right? But connect the dots. They’ve wanted peace in the Middle East. Now Trump took a giant step towards peace in the Middle East. All Trump wants is peace in American cities. Yes. That’s all he’s trying to achieve. And yet Pritzker and Newsom and Hochul and all the rest of them, apparently they object to peace in their cities.
SPEAKER 06 :
Peace is bad. Crime is good. Peace is bad. And law enforcement is bad. And telegraphing forward again this Saturday, October 18th, not to plug it. Actually, I’ll send people to nokings.org. You can find out where the protests are.
SPEAKER 05 :
SPEAKER 06 :
No, don’t sign up. So you can avoid these jack wagons, because there will be, again, pots and pans being banged. And now, flash forward, imagine driving, let’s say you’ve got to drive through where one of these gangs of idiots are. How many Hispanics do you think will be in that crowd? Or blacks? Not many, exactly. And the answer is not many. It’ll be old, crusty, confused white people, liberal crank Caucasians who hate Trump’s guts, and this is their performance art.
SPEAKER 04 :
Every single white boomer in America who is a hippie that lived through Woodstock has plans this Saturday. They have finally got something to look forward to. Instead of pickleball, they finally got something that they can be excited about, marching around with images of Trump as Adolf Hitler, coming right after this deal. Think about it. I love what you said. I love what you said about Kamala Harris and the stuff of nightmares. I mean, you think these hostages would be home today? You think there’d be peace in the Middle East? You think Hamas would agree? And you’re right. You think about all the giant pieces of this puzzle that had to come together, obliterating Iran’s nuclear program. That gave countries the will, the Muslim countries, because you think about the…
SPEAKER 02 :

SPEAKER 04 :
Abraham Accords. The Abraham Accords, I mean, you had to take, what was it, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, the four nations, the four Muslim countries had to come to the table with Israel. The only way, the freedom they had was with Iran losing its nuclear capabilities. That’s it. Without that, it doesn’t happen. It just happens. Let’s go back to New York for just a moment. Boy, there is some damning news coming out about Zoran Mamdani. The campaign took out, and apparently over the weekend it was reported, $13,000 in illegal foreign donations. You can go to jail for that if you’re a candidate. At least $170,000 of the $54,000 contribution so far to the leading Democrat candidates’ campaign came from donors with addresses outside the United States. The campaign has failed to return those foreign donations. Will it matter? I’m going to talk today to Curtis Lewa. Yes, it matters to Curtis. Yes. believe it, and I’m going to tell him about our journey. I’m going to mention you, and I’m going to mention my wavering a couple weeks ago, and I’m going to share with him, look, Curtis, you’ve been my friend. I’ve always supported you. I was wavering a few weeks ago. I thought maybe, maybe, you know, Cuomo’s ahead of me. And my friend Mark Davis reminded me that you’ve got to do the right thing. When you say the lesser of two evils, evil is still evil. And you’ve got to sleep at night. You’ve got to vote for the right candidate and pray that New Yorkers somehow coalesce and figure it out. Or Cuomo drops out. I don’t know. But Curtis is the man for the job. He’s a lifelong crime fighter. He’s the true Gotham Batman. I mean, he is Gotham’s Batman, if there ever was one. And he’s the man for the job. So we’ll see Curtis on the show today at, let’s see, that’ll be 11.05 your time. Very cool.
SPEAKER 06 :
So over the weekend, with the remaining couple of minutes, we have pop culture passings. This one, it’s funny, this one really hit me. It’s 79 years old, the passing of the great Diane Keaton.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, me too.
SPEAKER 06 :
What a magnificent woman, what a magnificent actress. And do you know what Lisa and I did last night? And it’s funny, you want to have a fun conversation, you and I should do it sometime, especially with the degree to which we immerse ourselves in the culture. movies or TV shows that absolutely everybody in the world saw, but you didn’t. I don’t think I ever saw an episode of Hill Street Blues. I don’t think I ever saw an episode of a bunch of others saying elsewhere. I just never did. And there are probably movies that we’d never, ever, ever seen. For Lisa and for me, we had never seen Annie Hall. For Lisa, part of that is the Woody Allen problem. She refuses to watch a Woody Allen movie, just because he’s creepy. But she loves Diane Keaton so much, I said, honey… Why don’t we compartmentalize? I never did it. It came out in 1977. I’m 19. I’m 20 years old. And I just never did. And so we watched Annie Hall last night. It is every bit the masterpiece. She is so sweet and so wonderful. We got Best Actress. I think I got Best Picture that year. It was great. And just through the Father of the Bride movies, through the various other things that she did. I think she did a movie with Morgan Freeman just a couple of five flights up, is it? Something like that. And so just an amazing body of work, just one of the great, great, great actresses.
SPEAKER 04 :
You know what I think of with a death like this? I think, of course, of their families. And she’s got a couple of adult children that she adopted. She never married. Apparently had a real thing with Al Pacino, and Pacino walked away from it. And he was reportedly saying over the weekend, great regret of his life. And who knows about, you never know with any of these stars that we watch on the silver screen and what their personal lives are like. I mean, I suspect a lot of them are a wreck. I think a lot of them are a train wreck. But in her case, I thought about her kids. I saw a heartbreaking picture of her son. I think he’s like 22, 23 years old. Do you think a movie star like Diane Keaton, with her family, ever sits and has a movie night where they look at her movies? Do you ever think about that? Do you think like the adult son and the adult daughter sit around and say, Mom? gosh were you great let’s watch father of the bride tonight or do you and then she sits there and she tells them about things that happened behind the scenes as they shot that scene here’s what woody allen did here here’s what whatever steve martin did there do you think they do that or do you think that movie stars like diane keaton never look at their work again on the it’s funny you mentioned because i i’ve when i do i do a ton of podcasts almost none of them about politics
SPEAKER 06 :
Because that’s my life. This is what I do for a living. I do history. I do science. I do entertainment and stuff like that. On the occasions where I’ve heard famous people, whether it’s a rock star being asked, do your kids listen to your records or a movie star? The answer is sometimes. And when it does happen, it’s because the kids usually takes the kids well into their 20s to want to. Because when the kids are 5 and 10 and 15, that’s just what mom and dad do. And it’s like you and I do this or somebody else works at the auto plant or somebody else works at McDonald’s. It’s just mom and dad’s job. But then when they realize, wait a minute, my mom and or dad did this and meant this much to millions of people. And those revisitations often do happen. And invariably to the movie star, to the TV star, kind of makes their skin crawl a little bit. Because you’re sitting there thinking, what if they pick a movie of mine that’s not that great? What if they pick a movie of mine that’s not that great?
SPEAKER 05 :
Or something like that.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right, or I was having a terrible chapter in my life then, and I hated my life, and I was in a bad relationship or whatever. Look, two of my kids, I can guarantee you, have never heard one word of the Mike Gallagher show. Oh, stop. Oh, no, not one word. No, they haven’t.
SPEAKER 03 :
I guarantee you.
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, I can promise you. Now, the other two, one of them… I’ll send them a clip.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, no, please don’t. Send them today’s clip. What could anybody find fault with in today’s Mike and Mark segment?
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, they will.
SPEAKER 06 :
What could anybody…
SPEAKER 04 :
They will. They will. They will. Give them time. That’s okay. I am feeling so great today, and I’m just so happy and so joyous. I got emotional. I teared up a few minutes ago. I was reading all the coverage, getting ready for my hit with you, and then getting ready to start my show at 10.05. I was thinking about one thing. The 20 remaining hostages got gift packages from the Israeli government. Interestingly, they included a phone, a cell phone, a laptop, all kinds of really interesting goodies from Benjamin Netanyahu, including the very simple message, we’ve been waiting for you. just written on a piece of paper, we’ve been waiting. And you know what?
SPEAKER 06 :
The phone will become obsolete. The laptop will need to be replaced. But that piece of paper on which that message is written will endure in a scrapbook somewhere forever.
SPEAKER 04 :
And to get to visit with you week after next from the Holy Land is just amazing.
SPEAKER 06 :
I cannot wait. It’ll be the 325 segment. The 335 segment. Look, I get to finally sleep in for a few days.
SPEAKER 05 :
I love it.
SPEAKER 04 :
I’m loving this afternoon drive stuff.
SPEAKER 05 :
King of afternoon drive in the Middle East. Moishe Gallagher. He’s ready to go. All right. I love you. Happy Monday. Shalom.
SPEAKER 06 :
Mike’s ready to go. 10 o’clock. As soon as we’re done on 660 AM, the answer.
