Okay, one thing I wanted to start with today, and this is because of some recent things that have happened, frankly, not far from where we do the program here. We’re at literally basically Parker Road in Havana, kind of in that particular area. And, Bill, the other night, in fact, one of my sponsors had told me that there was a shooting. Literally, you could almost get to the top of the building up here and throw a rock far enough. You could probably have hit where that particular shooting happened from. And I’m not really exaggerating. Literally, just literally. you know, within 100 yards or so of where we’re at here at the station. And it was over an online transaction. Granted, this was 945 at night, but still, I mean, it’s not like it was three o’clock in the morning and a young man lost his life over that. So I thought we could talk just for a few minutes about those that are out there doing online stuff, which it’s big. I get it. You know, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, those sorts of things. And all of us can dabble around and do things. I mean, I know we’ve sold, you know, multiple things on marketplace over the years. I’ve bought a few things here and there as well, Bill, and typically speaking, it’s pretty safe, but we probably should give some folks some pointers on how to keep that safe.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, you hit the nail on the head with that because, you know, it’s a it’s a good place to make those transactions. You know, it’s kind of taken the modern-day garage sale or yard sale and basically put it online, you know, and it’s a great way for people to, you know, kind of clean out their closet, get rid of extra stuff, which, you know, at some point maybe we’ll talk about, you know, economical strategies and preparedness, and this is one of them, you know, but, you know, we stopped giving our home address to You know, we we start saying, hey, we’ll meet you at the post office or we’ll meet you here and make it happen, you know, in a public place. But, you know, that’s probably that may have what happened in this case. And, you know, that doesn’t even necessarily protect you either.
SPEAKER 11 :
No, I think you’re exactly right. I do believe that’s exactly what they were trying to do is meet in a, you know, well-lit area. something along those lines and again no more details i have no idea what in you know what item was involved for those of you listening if you’ve got more details you know be sure to send me a link or something but all i know is there was an online transaction that went bad a young man lost his life over that and i will tell everybody listening bill number one and again this is i get it 9 45 at night it’s not three in the morning although it’s still dark i i bill number one would not do any transactions. If it’s somebody you really know and feel really confident in, friend, neighbor, something along those lines, that might be different. But if it’s somebody you’ve never met in your entire life, I would not do anything in the dark, period.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, that’s just basic, you know, kind of refusing to be a victim, if you will, talking about the NRA class that I teach. That’s basic stuff, right? You know, you want to go to a known place maybe where there’s lots of people and you definitely don’t want to be doing stuff at night. And, you know, as you’re even talking through this, it really, you know, kind of, kind of makes my mind go, what in the world? What was being sold? What would cause somebody to go to this extreme? I mean, over what, a lamp or something? I mean, I don’t know what was being sold, but are you kidding me? I know. To that extreme? I mean, it’s like, The point is, John, is we live in a very volatile world. And you just have no idea who you’re dealing with, you know, and it’s just crazy, right? So if you’re going to do that, you need to have a plan. You need to say, OK, we’re going to meet at this location. You know, it’s going to be during reasonable hours where there’s going to be other people. Right. You want to create these kind of obstacles, I guess, or deterrence is a better word.
SPEAKER 11 :
But by the way, really quick to jump in, Bill, also location for those because some of you are thinking, well, what locations would you guys be referring to? Bill, first off, first thing I think of and what we’ve done, police stations work really well for this, by the way. Yeah, it’s a great spot. You know, I mean, you’re there. The chances of something like what we are talking about that happened here just a few nights ago down here in the Aurora area. I mean, I’m not saying that you’re insulated completely at the police station, but Bill, you and I both know that not only is there people coming in. and going and there’s cameras and all sorts of things. Typically speaking, the riffraff don’t want to be there in the first place. So typically if you say, hey, you know, I’d like to meet at the police station at this particular time and they say no, there’s your indicator not to go in the first place.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, if they’re not willing to do something like that, that’s a red flag for sure. Absolutely. And the other thing, too, John, is maybe you bring somebody else with you. Amen. I mean, because I think about sometimes where I shudder at the thought now, but it’s like,
SPEAKER 11 :
you know my wife has done a lot of these and mine too by herself and i’m like yeah mine too that’s gonna stop you know yeah well you you and i are thinking exactly the same because frankly as busy as i am and everything i’ve got going on mine typically handles everything on that end of things whatever it is we happen to be wanting to to pedal off and in my world as you know with you know some of what i’ve got going on family-wise with you know estates and my folks and so on there’s lots of things that we’re dabbling in in that end of things and and Yeah, now it makes you really wonder. Probably need to be going with two people. Probably need to do everything at the police station no matter what. In my case, luckily, I’m only about a mile from a police station, so it works really well. Now, for some of you, that might be a little bit more of a drive to get there. But, Bill, here’s the other thing. And all of you listening, please, please, please take this to heart. To your point earlier, Bill, do not do this from your home, period.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yep, don’t, don’t, don’t. And that becomes hard, too, because, you know, if you’re like me, you know, some of the stuff we may be selling on there is larger equipment. Right. And there’s been many times, John, where I’ve loaded up the truck, went to the meeting place, and they were no-shows. Yeah. That’s just the cost of doing business, you know. Correct. I guess if that’s, you know, that’s what you’re going to do. But all of these things, yard sales anymore, garage sales, sales at your house, you know, you’re also opening up the door for people to kind of scope you out. Yep. No way you have. Yep. No, it’s crazy, right? It’s super crazy. And yeah, here’s another thought too, John. Maybe that second person going with you is in another car because here’s another thing. So let’s say we meet at the police station and then they follow you home, right? At least if you have another car that’s timed, hey, I’m going to wait two or three minutes to leave and then I’m going to follow you and be like, hey, this dude’s following us. Turn left. Don’t go home. And by the way… you know, you should have alternate routes to your house. I know for like you and me, that becomes a little bit more difficult because we don’t have a lot of roads around us. But I do have, I’m going to tell you, I do have about three or four different ways I can get to my house. And so, you know, something like that’s happening. We got to have that plan. And I’d be like, hey, turn right here or turn left here. You know, we got the radios or we got the phones or

whatever we got right but have a plan you gotta have a now now you go okay i’m selling a five dollar lamp is it worth it no i don’t know uh it bill at that point in time uh no you take that down to your local you know arc thrift store wherever you’d like to go turn that in and let somebody else have the benefit of that five dollars because to me personally no this is not worth five bucks it’s not worth it you know and then especially if you’re doing you know
SPEAKER 09 :
you know four or five trips to meet up with somebody we ran into that and it’s like you know we’re selling these little little parts and pieces and it’s like man you’ve made five trips to the post office with five no-shows you we’re now losing money you know it’s just you know time and right the cost of it you know and i got another situation too because you know i sell livestock you know i sell rabbits and chickens and things and it’s like man people are coming over because That’s tough because I can’t take a whole litter of rabbits to the police station to meet with people. So it definitely becomes a challenge. Or maybe you’re selling a vehicle and it’s like, ah. Now I’ve got to have somebody drive it there. Yeah, it’s a whole new world. It really is.
SPEAKER 11 :
And for a lot of you listening, by the way, and I know some folks that, Bill, have started down this path and, frankly, have been fairly successful, there are now businesses that will do all of what we’re talking about for you. They’ve got storefronts and other things they have set up to handle these sorts of things. And, of course, they’re doing this on a more routine basis, so they’ve got a little better idea of – For some people, Bill, this might be a once-a-year sort of a thing they do. And I will tell you, if you’re not used to doing this, you don’t know some of the proper protocols and even the money collection end of things, which we could get into as well, because you’ve got to make sure you’re getting paid properly when it’s all said and done. If you’re not used to that, Bill, I would say go find somebody to peddle this product for you.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, or really count the cost, right? Is it worth it? Yeah, the $5. Or go to the flea market once a year. True. Yeah. You know, there’s other ways you can kind of figure stuff out.
SPEAKER 11 :
Wait for your neighborhood garage sale, which a lot of folks may have areas where they’ll do an entire neighborhood, you know, garage sale. But even then, I think, you know, you’ve got to be a little careful of that even, because typically those are done in the neighborhood at the homes. You’ve now got people rolling by and just, you know, you know me, personally speaking, I just don’t want people I don’t trust rolling around my house.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, and, you know, sometimes, too, like where our church is, we’ll do a community garage sale, the neighborhood will do it, and I’ll be like, hey, church people, you bring your stuff here to sell. Great idea. You know, I love that quote that I sent you a couple weeks ago by Mark Minervini, and he says, always be improving your worst-case scenario, because that’s how we’ve got to start thinking now, is what’s the worst-case scenario that could happen today? You fill in the blank. And how can I what can I do to mitigate that? Right. To lessen that blow, you know.
SPEAKER 11 :
And for some of you listening to you have a knack for doing this. You maybe even have your own routine down and so on. And maybe, you know, some folks that might need a little help getting rid of. a few items, some elderly folks or whatever. My other encouragement, Bill, would be to let it be known that if somebody like that needs some help getting rid of something, rather than them going through all of the risk and all of that on their own, if you’re used to doing this and you’ve got a pretty good system down, help them out.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, help them out. I mean, that’s what this is all about. That’s what the thrust of this radio show is all about. That’s right. It’s about building that community, building that education so that we can all, you know, Worse than our worst-case scenario, you know, better improve that worst-case scenario because, you know, and I’ve been thinking about this lately because we’ve been, you know, playing around with the stock markets and all this stuff. And as you know, the past couple of weeks, it’s not been good. It’s up and down. It’s all over the place. And, you know, they can’t tell what directions it’s going to go. And, you know, the president jumps on and says something, and it has huge effect on market tone wherever possible. And I told the church on Sunday, or Wednesday, it was Wednesday, I used this example because this is kind of crazy because… God is speaking to me so many different ways through things that are happening in the world, right? And, you know, things will happen at the house or with an animal, and God uses that and says, hey, that’s what’s going on right now. And so when I was looking at this whole market tone thing, it occurred to me, it’s like, hey, spiritually speaking, we got to have the world tone, you know? And even though we have the president that we wanted, right? It’s like that’s not the tone of the world, and he is not the savior, and it’s going to get rough before it gets any better, and so let’s not sit back and relax and think we’re on easy street right now because I got news for you. I think we got to go a little bit farther down before we even have any hope of maybe bouncing back up.
SPEAKER 11 :
And I think he’s even alluded to some of that as well. So I don’t think that even he would disagree with anything you just said, Bill. I think there’s going to be a time where, yeah, you know, fasten your seatbelt a little bit, make sure you’re prepared. We’re going to talk about some of that today, by the way, in the program. And that’s why this is Ready Radio. We’re trying to help all of you be prepared. for the you know what ifs of life is what i say and it could be anything from a you know complete end of the world type scenario where you know a solar flare or something like that happens knocks the power grid down everything from that bill to the very things we’re talking about here where you’re just wanting to sell something small you don’t feel like it’s something you want to donate you do want to have a little cash back but you know bill nothing nothing and i mean this sincerely there is not a single material possession worth your life
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, it’s not worth it. And so, you know, hey, John, it sounds like we’re getting paranoid over here. No, we’re just reading the signs. We’re discerning the worst-case scenario, right? Yes. And to your point. It’s not worth it. It’s not worth it. No. I’d rather give it to the goodwill or whatever. Yes. Just not worth it, you know, because, you know, I always say in my self-defense class, I says, you know, the only fight you can guarantee to win is the one you don’t get in.
SPEAKER 11 :
The one that never happened. That’s right. That’s right. Exactly. Yeah, the one that never happened. And so to avoid that, and again, thank you for saying that too, Bill. Guys, listen, I am not paranoid. I know Bill is not paranoid. I’ve dealt with him enough over the years and have known him long enough. No, that is not what any of us, either he or I, are saying, nor do I think any of you listening are that way. And I don’t want to get to a point, Bill, where I ever am paranoid. That’s why we talk about some of these things and have plans and have plans of attack of different things that might come up. The more prepared you are, the more of a plan you put in place. Frankly, Bill, the less need for paranoia there is.
SPEAKER 09 :
Exactly right. When people say that to me, when I talk about what I do or they come over and they You know, they’re like, why are you making bread? Why are you canning stuff? Why are you growing a garden? Why do you have rabbits and chickens in the backyard? Are you paranoid? And I’m like, no, because the fact I do have them, I don’t need to be prepared, because I’m prepared.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right, thank you. That is the exact answer, and that’s all we’re trying to do on this program is help people be more prepared for those things, those what ifs of life. Really quick, going back to online transactions, and again, I think, folks, this is something that I’ll give you a little bit of insight on when it comes to, and by the way, this could be even among friends and people that you know, and that is, how do you receive payment for that item you have gotten rid of. It could be a set of bill concert tickets or you sold something to a friend or a neighbor. And a lot of people nowadays will use things like Venmo, Cash App, and so on. And I’ll tell you a story of what happened to a good friend of mine that had sold something along these lines. he was or had sorry had bought something from a friend and when went to make the payment things were off one digit one digit only and so when he sent his 750 payment to the other person they never received it well he learned and in this case it ended up well he finally ended up getting a hold of the person that the money inadvertently went to and finally after about six weeks of time and running the guy down and trying to and i had even a few resources that i helped with in this particular case tracking down where the guy worked and so on anyways long story short he ended up getting his money back but my point is on the venmo end of things or any of these here’s a tip If you’re going to buy something from somebody you’ve never done anything with before, and it’s a sizable amount, you know, we’re not talking $10, $20, but in this case it was $750. Here’s a little tip. Send a dollar. Send a dollar first. Make sure the other end receives it. If all of that is good, then in this case, send the rest, the $749, to make the $750 once you know that dollar is, has been completed and everything is correct and so on so don’t send large amounts to somebody that you’ve never had a transaction with and i did this just the other night bill i bought some stuff from a family member and we did a venmo transaction and the first thing we did is exactly what i just said even though we’re standing next to one another we did it that way to make sure things went through before we did the larger amount just to make sure things were safe
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, that’s really great advice. Yeah, I’m going to put that one in my back pocket because we do a lot of that with, you know, the stuff that we sell here at Venmo. And even with our courses, we even do a lot with our courses. Yeah. Like, hey, maybe you should, you know, because nobody wants to pay cash anymore. And there is a danger with cash, you know. Yes. Again, let me just, worst case scenario, John, you know, with all the, the the fentanyl and all that stuff if that money’s got drugs on it that’s right with your bare hands that’s right that’s what it could be getting into you you’re right so you know you’re correct it’s

And, okay, really quick, Bill, before we move on, and I did get, by the way, several text messages talking about the little Venmo tip. We just gave out a moment ago, and people hadn’t really thought about that before, just sending a very, very small amount, a buck or so, before you actually make a larger transaction. And, yes, that’s a really easy way to make sure that what you’re doing is going to the correct person at the end of the day. Before we continue on, though, Bill, you and I were even talking about this particular situation where – This young man, and I don’t know if he was the buyer, the seller, whatever. I’m assuming he was probably the seller. But again, I don’t know that for sure. But you were talking, we were during the week texting back and forth, trauma kits. This is another area where we hope nothing bad ever happens. But if it does, do you have the ability to take care of something along these lines?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, exactly. And to your point, too, maybe I’m selling something or the guy was selling something And the buyer’s like changed his mind and that upset the guy. Hey, man, I came out here at 940 at night to do all this. And that could have been right. We always want to assume that the the buyer is the aggressor. It could have been who you’re exactly. Exactly. So I kind of wanted it. to touch back on that again, because we may have painted that picture that, you know, sellers beware, but hey, it could be buyer beware as well.
SPEAKER 11 :
Absolutely. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah. This goes back to that trauma kit, right? And I teach a lot of self-defense, and I base things on Levels of probability, you know, especially in the Krav Maga classes, everybody wants to learn the knife and the gun defense. And it’s like, yeah, those are great. They’re useful. But you’re probably more likely to get sucker punched or dabbed with a screwdriver or hit with a hammer, right? Some kind of a… lower force something you’re not going to think of when you think of knife or gun or you know walking around with a baseball bat or a crowbar you know it’s it’s those common items that you got to watch out for statistically speaking there’s more attacks with that there’s also that a range of And by the way, John, the 29th of this month, I’m doing my next, my first of the season, level one, which if nobody has their CCW, right, this is a class that you need that’ll get you the certificate that you need to be able to apply for your permit. And things are changing at a rapid pace. So, listen, let’s get in. Absolutely. You’re not going to get grandfathered because you will have to do the renewal process as per the new state.
SPEAKER 11 :
Bill, before we move on off of that, too, I’m glad you mentioned that. I didn’t have it in my notes, but now that you just said that, I would also tell all of you listening that Given where some of these things are going, no, they’re not all the way through the legislature, and we have no idea what the outcome is going to be like. And I can almost tell you that whatever the outcome is, if it’s very stringent and unconstitutional, it will get fought. But in the meantime, you still have to deal with whatever is implemented. So my point, Bill, is if you’ve thought at all of buying any kind of – Literally, this list, Bill, just about covers any type of weapon you would buy minus a pump-action shotgun or a bolt-action rifle for hunting. But if you’ve thought about doing anything along the lines of buying a semi-automatic rifle, pistol, whatever, my advice, Bill, is you probably should do that now than later. And on top of that, let me add another layer. There’s also talk of some ammunition type laws coming into effect. We’ve already got the tax law that’s going to start. My thought, Bill, would be, you know, gear up. I don’t know how else to say that, but, you know, gear up. Make sure that you’ve got what you need now, because in several months, I think this law that they’re talking about, if it does pass, would be enacted the first part of September.
SPEAKER 09 :
Absolutely. You gear up and you skill up, John. So it’s not enough just to gear up, but you need to, I’m big, big, big. Buying the item isn’t enough. You got to get the skill involved too. And I would also go as far as, hey, maybe you should learn to reload, right? I know that ammunition thing also includes reloading stuff. But let me tell you, I can have all that stuff in my shop there. and do what I need to do whenever I need to do it. I don’t need to go to the store. I go to my shop, right?
SPEAKER 10 :
Right.
SPEAKER 09 :
But those are all very, very, very, very important. So the things that set us apart, we’re going to get back to what, you know, But the important thing with the type of classes that I teach, it’s with concealed carry considerations. It’s fight IQ. It’s distances. It’s moving. It’s all the stuff that you would be encountering in a normal day situation. A lot of these classes, these coffee and donut classes, you go in for 30 minutes, you get your permit, you get out. Or even some of these other classes that are really great that may be at a range, They have limitations, and it’s no fault of them. That’s just where they are. We’re on a private range. We can do stuff that they can’t do at your normal range. So we bring all of that fight IQ, all of my Krav Maga, not all of it, but elements of the Krav Maga. elements of the integrated defense strategy, which includes hand-to-hand combat with concealed carry. All of that stuff comes into it. Most of my classes, level one, John, most of my classes are attended by people who already have their concealed carry permits because they don’t have the information that I’m sharing.

Now, back to what we were talking about, the first aid kit, the trauma kit, right? You’ve got to have it. And we, by the way, again, will teach the BLS, the American Heart Association, BLS, and the Stop the Bleed. We’ll train you up. And I don’t care if you get the training from me. Obviously, I want you to, John, but get it somewhere. In fact, get it from many different places because I’m a big fan of, you know, just texted me this morning, well, I already have, you know, I’m really good at the range, and I’m like, yeah, but you don’t have what I have. And the same is true if I go down and learn from maybe Karen at Franktown Firearms. I know sometimes they sponsor, I don’t know what all programs are with you or not, but, you know, she’s going to teach something that I might go into that class and go, man, that was really good. Right. That was a great Venmo tip. Right. Right. Right.
SPEAKER 11 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 09 :
So you get training from everybody and from lots of different people. You know, you’ll pick up something, you’ll pick up something. But, you know, that first aid, that trauma kit, if something does go awry, you’re your first responder. That person may, if they would have had a trauma kit or somebody with them would have had a trauma kit, again, we don’t know the situation, but they may have survived if they had a tourniquet. You know, I don’t know. Maybe, you know.
SPEAKER 11 :
And again, those are things we don’t know because they weren’t there. And at least to our knowledge, those things didn’t happen. I mean, somebody lost their life over something that was most likely very senseless. And could that have been? Well, I mean, a lot of things we’re talking about right now, Bill. Yes, a lot of things in that particular situation could have changed and had a better outcome when it’s all said and done. And point being, everybody listening, please think through the things that you’re doing. I think, Bill, again, even with the situation that we’ve had in our family with my cousins being murdered up in Thornton, I think a lot of us just get used to doing our day to day. We go about our daily lives. We don’t think much about it. We live in a pretty safe environment. We live in the suburbs. We live here. We live there. We do this. We do that. We go to work. We go to church, blah, blah, blah. And we kind of get in this routine of not really, I hate to say it, Bill, not really paying attention to what’s outside our box. And so we just sort of go about our day-to-day life not really looking around and paying attention. And then all of a sudden something major happens, and hopefully it’s not to you that this happens to, but then something happens and all of a sudden awareness gets raised again. And it’s almost like, Bill, why wasn’t it that way all along?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, yeah. The biggest dangers everybody faces is comfort, complacency, and familiarity. All of these things are a huge danger to you because, you know, hey, Tomorrow is going to be just like today. Right. You know, and it’s like, oh, then we got, you know, things flying in the buildings and the world changes.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yep. Yep. You’re exactly, exactly right. Somebody also texted a moment ago, the odds of you needing to patch up someone on the side of the road is far more likely than you needing your CCW. And you know what? That is exactly correct, Bill. Absolutely correct.
SPEAKER 09 :
Exactly correct. That person nailed it, right? Every 90 seconds, somebody has cardiac arrest, you know, so. the odds of that. And the point is, well, I don’t take that statement and go, well, I guess I don’t need my CCW. No, no, no. You need both. That’s right. You need both, right? And really, you don’t even need the CCW if you really get down to it, just like you don’t need the ham radio license if you really get down to it, right? Because emergency situation, we’re going to do whatever we got to do. License or no license, by the way. Right. But the point is, is we’re We’re practicing. We’re getting the reps in legally when we need to. But he’s absolutely right. You know, I put a stinking drill through my thumb the other day. I mean, I needed some basic first aid that I needed to be able to take. I didn’t run to the emergency room. I took care of that myself, right, because I’ve got the skills. And so that person was exactly right with that comment.
SPEAKER 11 :
Before we move on, talk to us about what it’s like from a – which I know you’re a pastor, and a lot of what we’re talking about is, in fact, your perspective, and we’ve talked about some of those things even today. But I think a lot of people out there would think, well, wait a minute, Bill’s a pastor, and yet talking about real, physical, material things that we as people should be doing on a regular basis, and yet you’re, quote-unquote, a man of the cloth, a man of – faith, how do you join those two together? Because I think, Bill, there’s a lot of folks out there, pastors included, that don’t think anything about this stuff. They just think, oh, my faith’s enough. I’ll be okay there.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I’m not just a pastor, John. I’m the preparedness pastor, as I was saying as you were gone. That’s how I was introducing myself.
SPEAKER 11 :
By the way, that’s a good way of doing it. Absolutely. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 09 :
I was just having fun with that. But here’s the fine line with all of that, right? The fine line is what’s your heart and what’s your faith in, okay? I once had a guy at our church tell me, you know, I’ve got all these guns, I’ve got all this ammo, I’m good. And I say, okay, is your faith in the guns and the ammo, or is your faith in the Lord, right? So our faith is always in the Lord.
SPEAKER 10 :
Now,
SPEAKER 09 :
Let’s just think common sense, John. If I say, hey, my faith’s in the Lord, I don’t need to go to work today, am I going to have a paycheck?
SPEAKER 11 :
No.
SPEAKER 09 :
The Bible says if you don’t work, you don’t eat. Right. If you don’t provide for your own, you’re worse than the heathen. That’s right. Right? Correct.
SPEAKER 11 :
Meaning those two go together, the work and the faith are all one.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah. They go together. But if I say, I don’t need the Lord because I have my job. I don’t need the Lord because I have doctors. I don’t need the Lord because I have guns. That’s the problem.
SPEAKER 11 :
And once again, you know, we call this, in a lot of cases, Bill, balance. You’re out of balance on both. If you’re thinking faith alone, and you’re not doing anything preparedness-wise, or in the case of work, you’re not working, well, you’re out of balance. If, on the other hand, you’ve got all of the material things put together, but the faith component isn’t there, once again, Bill, you’re out of balance.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I mean, we can go through all kinds of different illustrations in the Bible and references in the Bible of, you know, hey, he told Joseph there’s going to be seven years of famine, so stock up. You know, he told Noah to start building the ark. You know, he told some of the disciples, hey, pack a bag. You know, he also told them, don’t pack a bag. So every situation is different, but here’s the one common denominator in all of those situations is they listened to the Lord and they did what the Lord told them to do. Correct. Okay. Correct. So, you know, there’s wisdom here, John. You know, there’s wisdom. And by the way, I often use this analogy a lot, too. Hey, if you go to Costco, Sam’s Club, or if you go grocery shopping for the weekend, guess what? You’re a prepper. You just prepped for the week. Yeah.
SPEAKER 11 :
You’re just doing it on a smaller scale. Absolutely. Absolutely. And frankly, I’ll go as far as to say this, Bill. Typically, those individuals are more of a prepper than they think because they probably have more bulk goods and more things kicking around the house. In other words, if something were really to go awry, could they get through a couple of weeks or maybe even a month without having to do much food-wise, those types of individuals probably can.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER 11 :
Because, in other words, they have more back stock than they think they do.
SPEAKER 09 :
Absolutely. And if they sit down and really think about it, yeah, you’re exactly right. You know, people are quick to label, they’re quick to judge, and they just don’t slow down and think of the practical common sense of with what we are presenting. You know, and there’s wisdom in it. There’s wisdom in it. You know, it’s so funny because, you know, we’re doing a lot of little posts on our Prep to Protect Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook stuff. And, you know, one of the things my daughter did was she posted the little sign at the grocery store that said, limit two eggs, two cartons of eggs per person, whatever. And then we took a picture of my chicken coop, and there’s like no limit here. You know, and all the people… that commented about, oh, you think it’s more expensive to buy eggs? No, it’s more expensive to raise chickens. And it’s like, well, actually, if you know how to do it, you can raise chickens pretty much at zero cost.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right, pretty inexpensively.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, pretty much. I mean, what about buying chickens? Yep, got that covered, too, because I’m hatching my own, right? What about the feed? Well, I’m, you know, collecting… food scraps. I’m, I’m, you know, feeding them stuff that is weeds and stuff like that. So, you know, if you really want to get down to it, yeah, it’s pretty stinking cheap, you know, and go back to my grandparents. I mean, my grandparents didn’t have any money, you know, they didn’t have any money at all and they had chickens and hogs and everything. So they couldn’t go to the store, but they had all that stuff. So, you know, it’s a little ridiculous. So I’m becoming, and when I use that term self-sufficient, I’m not talking about self-sufficient away from God. I’m talking about self-sufficient away from the government.
SPEAKER 11 :
You know, self-sufficient alongside of him, outside of anything man, government, etc. would do, Bill. That’s the way I look at it.
SPEAKER 09 :
And that’s exactly the right perspective. And so there’s nothing wrong with that. You know, the Bible, I think, goes along with that. Plus, what did he tell Adam to do? Tend and keep the garden. Right. Till the soil. Tend and keep the garden. And then, oh, original sin entries? Okay, now it’s going to be a little harder, Adam, because now I’m going to put some weeds and thistles in there, right?
SPEAKER 11 :
I think the one thing, not to get off on a tangent, you know, scripturally speaking, Bill, but I think one of the things that really isn’t taught much from any pulpit, and most Christians even have wrong, is that Adam and Eve, prior to the fall, still worked. They didn’t work as hard, and it was much easier in doing what they did, but they still managed, maintained, and handled the Garden of Eden prior to the fall of man. We kind of have this misconception that it was this really, really short time between when God placed them in the garden and when the fall was. My own belief is it’s longer than probably any of us think, because Satan worked on them for quite some time to get them to the point of doing what they did. worked in the garden.
SPEAKER 09 :
Absolutely. That’s what man was created to do. He was created, if you read in the account in Genesis, and by the way, he was also created to have dominion over the earth, right? That’s a whole other thing. What do you have to, and if you work up that word dominion, that’s not what you think, right? So something else was going on there, but that’s a whole other conversation, like you said.
SPEAKER 11 :
Now, your point, balance, and folks listening, please hear us out on this. And you may be somebody that is like us and has faith. You may not be. The reality is a lot of the things that we talk about, number one, we would hope that you would have faith and you would come to that. But on the same token, I know there’s folks listening that are from all over the map that still want to be prepared for those things that might come down the pike. And our point is just have that balance. And, Bill, the other thing I want to make sure that I make note of before we continue on and start talking about some of the economic things and tariffs and so on. But the other thing is, I’m not going to tell anybody that there’s a one-size-fits-all for you being prepared. This really, in my opinion, Bill, comes down to you, yourself. You’ve gone through some of these things in the back of your mind, or maybe you’ve even written some of these things out. And what I will tell you is, what you prepare for and do may very well be different from the next. And I’m not going to tell either one of you that you’re wrong. You’re each doing it in your own way, on your own timeline. The point being is, do it.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, there’s no cookie cutter. There’s no cookie cutter. And that’s another thing. When you come to my self-defense or my shooting classes or whatever, hey, you know, everybody has a different grip. Everybody’s got different hands. Everybody’s got different eyes. We’ve got to work with what you’ve got. And I think you nailed it right there, John, because… You know, you’ve got to figure out what is your worst case scenario because your mountain might be my molehill. Your molehill might be my mountain. And so we all have different scenarios, different situations. So everything has to be custom. So we don’t teach people. We don’t give people keys, right? Right. Here’s the key to this lock. Here’s the key. No, I’m going to teach you how to be a key maker. There you go. So that you can make a key for any lock that you need. That’s right. And it’s all based on principles, John. That’s right.
SPEAKER 11 :
Those of you listening to, I know there’s a lot of talk in regards to tariffs and things along those lines. It’s another one of those areas, Bill, where just personally speaking, I don’t spend a lot of time worrying over it. Typically, things will all pan out in the end. Yes, we may have some ups and downs going through some of these things. And my advice, and I’ll get your input on this, is A, watch and see what certain things are that you may buy and require in your life, your business, your walk of life. Look at what some of those items are that might be impacted by tariffs. And in some cases, you may want to go ahead and stock up, knowing there might be some price adjustments coming. But, Bill, I’m not one to just wholesale say, hey, go out and buy something. you know, XYZ because you think it might affect you down the road. If it’s something that, you know, for example, steel and aluminum, yes, those are going to go up. They’re going up for a lot of different people that are in the machining world and so on. On the same token, Bill, for the average consumer, unless you’re in that world buying those products, there’s not a whole lot you’re going to do to hedge off tariffs on steel and aluminum.
SPEAKER 09 :
No, no, you do have the ripple effect. So while it’s going to directly impact those manufacturers, anybody that is a partaker of whatever that product may be will have a ripple effect, right? So even though we think, oh, I don’t buy steel, I don’t buy aluminum, well, at some point it’s going to hit your pocketbook. You’re just not going to avoid that, right? But to your point there, we don’t want to get super paranoid. And there was an electrician, and I always get this messed up that I kind of came up with, And he had this saying, and I always get it goofed up. He says, be really good at plan A. He says, but be great at plan B. Because Murphy always shows up. And I guess that’s the point, right? So if I’m… Plan A is always this, always this. Oh, a tariff comes in. Okay, what’s your plan B? Right. What’s your plan C?
SPEAKER 11 :
Right. Absolutely. And this is where there’s some self-help books and some folks out there that have even watched some seminars and things like that, Bill, that will tell, especially entrepreneurs, have no plan B because if you do, you’re relying on more than you will plan A. And if you really want plan A to work, there should be no plan B. I will tell you right straight up, Bill, that is not my philosophy. I don’t believe in that. I think if you’re disciplined enough, you can still work as hard as you possibly can on plan A, but also knowing that, hey, if everything else fails, I do have a plan B. No, I’m not reliant on plan B, but if something were to happen, I need to use it. I’m going to because that’s how I survive.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, that’s… In theory, that sounds great. Yeah, it’s not practical, though. But it’s not practical because you can’t control the weather. Correct. You can’t control their people, right? Other people, they’re always the variable, right? When we did our level three with mass shooting and all the scenario work, and we did the church shooting, and yeah, we got four or five people in there with guns on. I said, that’s not the problem. You got 30, 40, whatever the size of your congregation is, of other people that you have no idea what’s going to do. That’s not plan A. Plan A is great. If somebody steps in front of you, okay, you better figure it out, right? There’s no absolutes, John. And a lot of people ask me questions in these classes. Well, what if? I’m like, yeah, I can’t give you an absolute. Because there’s so many variables.
SPEAKER 11 :
I’ve got a good friend of mine that I’ve known for years and years and years that helps me with different things that I have going on in the business end of things at times. And his answer on a lot of those things where you’ll ask him a question always is, get out your box of depends because it depends. And he is correct because a lot of these scenarios that we’re talking through, Bill, there is no cut and dried answer because it depends.
SPEAKER 09 :
It so does. And so, you know, kind of back to that tariff conversation. Yeah. What if he does this? I don’t know. What if, you know, today he could say, yeah, we’re doing tariffs. And then, you know, the other people could buckle and cave in with the demands. And then tomorrow, yeah, no tariffs. And so it’s just. One thing we can guarantee is we don’t know what’s going to happen, right?
SPEAKER 11 :
No, yeah, and again, for a lot of you that are listening, and here’s the other thing I would tell you. Do not rely on mass media. Do not rely on your local news program here locally, because no offense, those knuckleheads half the time don’t know up from down, and I mean that as sincerely as I possibly can be. They literally, they’re reading from a script. They have no idea what’s going on. They’re being fed that information from whoever is above them. They have no input into what they’re saying. They are simply the mouthpiece. And believe me, that that narrative that’s being driven to them is very much controlled by the quote unquote powers that be. So you’ve got to go out and do your own research on these things and determine exactly what’s happening, what’s affecting you in your life. Because if you listen to those knuckleheads, Bill, you will be paranoid.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, they’ve got a narrative that they’re wanting to kick out there. And the world tone, John, circling back to that, right? The world tone. If you are a believer, okay, you have the book. You have the playbook. And what does the playbook tell you? It’s going this way, and it ain’t going to turn around.
SPEAKER 10 :
Right.
SPEAKER 09 :
So you either shore yourself up for the ride or you’re going to get trampled. So you have the playbook. A lot of times when I talk to people, they’re like, well, it’s just let’s just pray for peace, and it’s just like this, and I’m like, yeah, great. Yeah, go for it. That’s good, but it says it’s not going to happen, and I believe on a spiritual level, John, it is going to get worse and worse. The Bible says it’s like birth pains, right? Right, right. Coming on faster and harder, coming on faster, and then there’s people that go… Hey, I believe in the rapture. And by the way, I believe in the rapture, too. I believe in a pre-trib rapture, okay? Welcome to your text there. You’re going to get all kinds of comments on that. But hey, whatever. It’s not a salvation issue. But I believe in that. But people think, well, I’m just going to be rescued out. I believe if you look at what the examples that we have and the falling away is, that rapture is going to happen at the very last second, because a lot of people are going to give up hope.
SPEAKER 11 :
See, and I believe, Bill, in the pan theory, it all pans out in the end.
SPEAKER 09 :
And it does. Is it beginning, middle, end?
SPEAKER 11 :
Honestly, it’s a pan theory. It all pans out in the end. I don’t know. Just be ready for any of it.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, and usually when people want to argue that, I just be like, hey, isn’t it good we’re going? And don’t worry, I’ll explain it on the way up. Amen.

You know, I can’t say enough about all the information that I’ve learned, and not to mention, you know, Legacy Auto. You know, I have always kept a logbook. I try to be a very meticulous maintainer of my house, my vehicles, everything. And I don’t know how I did this, but I overlooked the DOT codes on my tires. And I had recently purchased a vehicle last year, and I had looked at the front ones, and they were fine. You know, the codes weren’t that old. The tread was fine. Well, just this week, I thought, you know what, I don’t think I’ve ever remembered looking at all four. And so I looked at all four DOT codes, and the one on the back left, it’s a 2015, the one on the back left is from 2010. Wow. I had no idea. Wow. I had no idea. And I feel kind of dumb saying this on the radio, but… You know, you talk about readiness. Make sure your tires are ready. Amen. It’s the most important part of your vehicle and life. It’s, you know, other than a safety belt, you know, you can have the best firearms, you can have the best training, but if your tires stink, yeah, good luck.

Yep, you’re right. Spot on. Mark, hey, I’ll let you go, but I appreciate that very much. Hey, thanks for the plug for tomorrow. And Bill, he’s right. I mean, some of the simplest of things. He’s talking about car tires, but yet some of those simple things we overlook could be some of the biggest detriments we could ever run across if we don’t take care of it.

Sometimes we’re always looking for the big majors, but hey, You know, the thing I don’t really like, but the devil’s in the details, you know. It’s like, man, focus on the details, the little things, because they’ll add up. You know, the tires, I always equate tires on my car like the shoes on my feet. You know, that’s why I don’t wear flip-flops, because I might need to run, right? So to Mark’s point, hey. Those are just your shoes on your car, right?

That’s why, and I know we talk about this a lot during the Drive Radio end of it, but especially in the wintertime, Bill, I’m one where if you don’t have half tread or more, go get tires for the winter and use those other ones next summer instead because at the end of the day, again, like your shoes, you want good tread and all of that in them.
