In this engaging episode, Mike and Mark share their thoughts on the crowded scene at Charlotte Airport and contrast it with the revamped LaGuardia. They reminisce about political skepticism from past publications and defend trusted figures like Glenn Beck. Ending on a lighter note, they tease a discussion about Savannah’s rich history for the next episode.
SPEAKER 03 :
Mike Gallagher. Every day, Mike visits with Mark Davis. Morning host on 660 AM, The Answer in Dallas. Here’s today’s Eminem experience.
SPEAKER 04 :
Governor Youngkin, who’s a great man. I’m telling you what, keep an eye on him. I think he’s got a future. Keep an eye on him.
SPEAKER 05 :
You know something, Mike? Look how many people we have who have a future. I know. Look at Glenn Youngkin. I know. That guy named DeSantis who is still around. Marco Rubio. Byron Donalds. Marco Rubio. Aren’t there seven or eight or nine people who would just be golden candidates if we were to have a really busy primary in 2028 when Trump will be done? Thank you, Mr. President, for clearing that up. So do we tell all those people, eh? Not your time, because we just need to. The etiquette is we simply hand it to J.D. Vance if the Trump-Vance administration is as successful as we’d like it to be.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, as successful as we hope it will be. But if you pick up the New York Times or turn on 60 Minutes. You would think we are right now in a five-alarm fire. I was in the airport yesterday. I’m here in New York for a day. We have some meetings and, incidentally, nice little headline in New York that greeted me when I got off the plane at LaGuardia. A man charged with raping a corpse on the subway. Now, first of all, let that sink in. A man raped a dead body on the subway. I’m not kidding you. A man died. On the subway. 30-something-year-old husband, father. He apparently dies. A man rifles through his pockets and then decides, well, that’s not enough to steal from him. I’m looking for a little extra. Now I’m going to rape him. Great. So he raped him. He was an illegal who crossed the border at least five times. Shocker. He was on an ICE. Yeah, real shocker. He was on an ICE watch list, apparently. The depraved deviant, Felix Rojas. unlawfully crossed the U.S.-Mexico border on several occasions. Five, to be exact. Anyway, so I get to New York. When I’m in the airport, I go through the Charlotte Airport. By the way, As airports go, whew, I don’t know what’s going on with Charlotte. That’s like getting on a train in India.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, it’s funny. This is weird. I don’t know how often we all go through Charlotte. I was heading out to – I was in Charlotte Airport a year or two years ago. Big remodeling was underway.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, it’s still underway. And they haven’t remodeled much. And it is. It’s like, have you ever seen the videos of people getting on a train in India? I mean, it’s – That’s what it felt like. I mean, the terminals are just packed elbow to elbow. You can’t walk. You can’t move. There’s cement everywhere. The walls are coming down. It’s a goof.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, Charlotte’s a big, I mean, it’s not Atlanta, but Charlotte is a big hub for some airlines. A lot of, you know, Charlotte and Philadelphia are big East Coast places.
SPEAKER 04 :
I mean, yeah. And then you get off the plane at LaGuardia, and I’ve got to hand it to New York because we always complain about it. You and I have talked about it. LaGuardia is awesome. LaGuardia is like the Wizard of Oz. It’s the coolest airport. I mean, it’s just like in the blink of an eye. All of a sudden, they fixed LaGuardia. Before we get you, go ahead and finish. Okay, so I pick up in New York Times.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 04 :
In Charlotte, as I get ready to board the train in India, knocking over women and children to jump onto the caboose. And Mark, do you remember the National Review Never Trump edition before the first election? I will never let them forget it. Well, and you know, a lot of people on our side wrote columns. Do you know one of the columnists?
SPEAKER 05 :
Are they on our side? Have they gotten better?
SPEAKER 04 :
They’ve gotten way better. Glenn Beck. I love Glenn. Remember, Glenn was one of those who wrote the anti-Trump column. And I love him. But, you know, in a way, you say this. This is the Mark Davis rule. Give a lot of grace to people who started out hating Trump and then gave him a chance and came around. Now, of course, the fear is always… Did they come around? How real was it? That’s right. Was it real then and now?
SPEAKER 05 :
I think Rubio is for real. I think Ted Cruz is for real. Lindsey Graham is probably for real. Rick Perry, not so much. Perry is a total establishment, softy creature now. And God love him. He’s my friend forever.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yep, yep. Well, and I love Glenn.
SPEAKER 02 :

SPEAKER 04 :
Give Glenn a lot of credit, but he was, well anyway, this was the New York Times version of that. Mark, I’m sure it’s been a long time since you picked up the New York Times. It is, proudly so. You should see this edition.
SPEAKER 05 :
What’s the thing?
SPEAKER 04 :
They trotted out, well I’ll tell you what, they trotted out all their star columnists, every one of them it seems, all of them to take a shot at Trump.
SPEAKER 05 :
Write a column that talks about… But that’s the New York Times, for National Review to do it, that’s a conservative magazine. I know where their conservatism was mortgaged on the altar of Trump hatred for the New York Times to engage in a festival of Trump hatred is called another day ending. And why?
SPEAKER 04 :
But it’s not just a festival of Trump hatred. It is Armageddon epic end of the world. Democracy has been shattered. It’s the crazy. And if you read that, if you just said, you know what, I’m going to pick up a New York Times article. You’d think, my gosh, our country is in big trouble. 60 Minutes, same thing. They’re flipping out because evidently the lady who runs CBS Paramount, she’s telling them to back off a little bit. They’re losing their minds. Meanwhile, they’re flipping out about PBS and NPR being defunded. And David Brooks, did you see this guy? I mean, we’re straight down the middle. Come on. Now, he works for them.
SPEAKER 05 :
I know. David Brooks has not been a reliable conservative for years.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, he’s a complete fraud. Chris, did you have the clip, the David Brooks clip we can play for Mark? Here he was this weekend whining about defunding NPR and how that’s the end of the world and democracy is now in shatters because you’re not going to get to hear the history of the tsetse fly, a taxpayer expense on NPR, okay? I mean, look, only a small fraction of their fund comes from the taxpayers so you know what step up sell some more tote bags exactly they’ll flourish but here’s an example of david brooks’s hypocrisy this isn’t the trump hating conservative and he was one of the ones that wrote in the new york times about trump is shattering all the norms and he’s a king and he’s blah blah blah wants to be pope we’ll get to that in just a moment yep you saw that meme But listen to this. The first clip is him defending PBS NPR. Then the second clip, this is back to back. This is what he actually said just a few weeks ago on PBS.
SPEAKER 01 :
If you think PBS is biased compared to who? Name one news organization in America. And I shouldn’t be defending us. I get paid by PBS, but I’m going to do it. Who’s more straight down the line? Then we are. There are a lot of people who are appalled by what the administration is doing. And there will be times for civil disobedience. And to me, if she let’s say she did escort this guy out the door. If a federal enforcement agencies come to your courtroom and you help a guy escape. That is two things. One, it strikes me as maybe something illegal, but it also strikes me as something heroic. And so you can both think that she shouldn’t have legally done this and that morally protecting somebody against, maybe not even in this case, but in other cases, frankly, a predatory enforcement agency.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, there you go. Straight down the middle.
SPEAKER 01 :
Straight down the middle, man. Even handed. Even handed.
SPEAKER 04 :
There’s no bias there whatsoever. This is how. So what were you going to say? Because I was so astounded by reading this New York Times edition thinking this is like shades of. They’re going to do everything to throw everything they can at the guy.
SPEAKER 05 :
Let’s do two things. First of all, let’s do the Trump-Pope meme, which might be all we have time for. Tomorrow, I want to talk about something from your trip to Savannah. A little bit of history. You chose just la-la-la. Let’s package. You did a little history. Savannah, great town for restaurants.
SPEAKER 04 :
Beautiful city. Oh, I love it.
SPEAKER 05 :
Art, history. We’ve got a little history thing tomorrow.
SPEAKER 04 :
We’ve still got slave quarters.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, yes. Enslaved persons’ quarters. Which is a clue on where we’re going. But, okay, so… So the White House did not do the Trump in the Pope garb meme. Somebody else did, and the White House, I guess, reposted it, right? So far, so good? I’m not sure. Or not. They didn’t do it. They reposted it. Should they have? There’s, I guess, Gretchen Whitmer out of Michigan is Catholic. Oh, mightily offended. Oh, really?
SPEAKER 04 :
You mean the governor that mocked the Eucharist? Remember the thing she did handing out the Holy Eucharist to somebody? I didn’t even remember what it was about.
