In this episode of The Mike Gallagher Show, we dive deep into the murky waters of political discord and civil unrest. With the backdrop of President Trump’s controversial remarks on immigration, we analyze the ripple effect on American society and labor markets. But the conversation doesn’t stop there; we explore the rising tide of political violence shadowing the nation’s discourse, with insights from renowned voices like Joe Rogan. Could the escalating hostility lead us toward a new kind of civil conflict?
SPEAKER 14 :
November is National Family Caregivers Month. One in four Americans is stepping up to help older loved ones with everything from meals to bills. Family caregivers spend thousands out of their own pockets each year, and too many have to quit their jobs to keep providing care. Working families can’t afford to wait. It’s time to care for America’s caregivers. Learn more at aarp.org slash care for caregivers. Paid for by AARP.
SPEAKER 11 :
From the wild world of DC politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 10 :
Uh-oh, President Trump has ruffled some feathers because he told Laura Ingraham we need skilled people from overseas. Uh-oh, Spaghetti-O. And, of course, the Trump-hating media looks at people like you and me and they say, uh-oh, are the Mike Gallaghers of the world going to criticize President Trump? You’ve probably heard about this by now if you’ve been online, if you’ve been on social media. A lot of people who are kind of squishy on Trump are mad at him because he told Laura that we’ve got to bring in talent from overseas. And she pushed back in her interview on Fox News this week and said, well, we have talented people here. And he said, no, you don’t. Now, a lot of people are trying to read into what he said. They’re trying to look at those three words. Is he actually suggesting there is no talent by the American people sufficient enough? to get the job done in highly skilled positions of labor. Let me just play for you the exchange that has led to all of this drama and all of this agita. Donald Trump suggesting to Laura Ingraham, American workers just aren’t all that skilled.
SPEAKER 13 :
Does that mean the H-1B visa thing will not be a big priority for your administration? Because if you want to raise wages for American workers, you can’t flood the country with tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of foreign workers.
SPEAKER 15 :
You also do have to bring in talent. We have plenty of talented people here. No, you don’t. We don’t have talented people here. No, you don’t have certain talents, and people have to learn. You can’t take people off an unemployment line and say, I’m going to put you into a factory where we’re going to make missiles, or I’m going to
SPEAKER 13 :
How did we ever do it before?
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, let me give you an example. In Georgia, they raided because they wanted illegal immigrants. They had people from from South Korea that made batteries all their lives. You know, making batteries are very complicated. It’s not an easy thing and very dangerous. A lot of explosions, a lot of problems. They had like five or six hundred people. early stages to make batteries and to teach people how to do it. Well, they wanted them to get out of the country. You’re going to need that, Laura. I mean, I know you and I disagree on this. You can’t just say a country’s coming in, going to invest $10 billion to build a plant and going to take people off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in five years and they’re going to start making missiles. It doesn’t work that way.
SPEAKER 10 :
So that has led to an eruption in MAGA world because the takeaway headline, and don’t think the Trump haters aren’t loving this. They are. See, your guy doesn’t really put America first. He wants skilled laborers from South Korea to be here. It’s the whole basis of of this whole H-1B visa system. We do have a system that allows for overseas workers to do the job here in America. Well, Scott Besson, do you like Scott Besson? Here’s the Treasury Secretary this morning on Fox & Friends, on Fox News, explaining what the President was saying.
SPEAKER 02 :
20, 30 years, we have offshore precision manufacturing jobs. And the president’s point here is, again, we can’t snap our fingers and say, you’re going to learn how to build ships overnight. We want to bring semiconductor industry back to the U.S. There are going to be big facilities in Arizona. So I think the president’s vision here is to bring in overseas workers where these jobs went. Who have skills. Who have the skills. Three, five years. seven years to train the U.S. workers, then they can go home, the U.S. workers fully take over.
SPEAKER 10 :
He’s right. There’s nothing wrong with that. So just take a breath. Trump was right with Laura Ingraham. Scott Besson is right. You’re not talking about, you know, a factory position that is not a highly skilled set required. You’re talking about people from South Korea. And, look, this has always been part and parcel of what we do. That’s okay. Here was Scott Jennings last night on CNN. He got into it with Keith Boykin. And this was kind of a big throwdown. Let’s hold off on that. It’s kind of a long clip. I’ll hold off on that in just a moment. But, look, you either trust the guy or you don’t. The man knows what he’s doing. And one thing I’m calling on him to deal with is this Antifa leftist violent youth brigade that is emerging in this country. And this is real. This is some scary stuff. Did you see what happened to the Turning Point kids at UC Berkeley? I mean, I get that it’s Berkeley. But on the other hand, that doesn’t excuse getting to riot and assault kids who are gathering to honor Turning Point, I really worry, and I wonder if you share my concern and the concern of others, like Joe Rogan, that we might be headed towards a civil war. I mean, when I saw the video of Monday night’s riots outside UC Berkeley, all because a group of kids got together to honor Charlie Kirk, he was supposed to be the keynote speaker at UC Berkeley Monday night. Of course, they killed him. It’s not enough that they killed him. Now they want to continue to mock his widow. They want to taunt and disparage him. And I mentioned Joe Rogan. I share his concern that when we see this kind of justified violence, when we see Democrats advocating for political violence against their enemies, There’s going to be a point where people on our side are going to say enough is enough and we’re going to take matters into our own hands. And that, of course, could lead to a civil war. Here’s what Joe Rogan said on his podcast.
SPEAKER 08 :
Charlie Kirk gets shot and people are celebrating like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You want people to die that you disagree with? Like, where are we right now on the scale of one to two civil war? Where are we? Are we at seven? Because I thought we were at five. I thought we were like four, four or five. But after Charlie Kirkdown, I’m like, oh, we might be like seven. This might be like step seven on the way to a bona fide Civil War. As soon as you start like regular people celebrating somebody getting murdered in front of their wife and kid on television in front of the whole world. As soon as you celebrate that, like, man, you’re in dark territory. You’re in dark territory. And if the worst thing you can say about that guy is that he said some things I disagree with and you’re celebrating that he got shot in the neck in front of the world. Whoa, and you work at an insurance company? This is nuts. And you thought it was okay to say that on Instagram?
SPEAKER 07 :
This is nuts. This is nuts.
SPEAKER 10 :
He’s right. He’s right. I saw these crowds at UC Berkeley. You know what the scary part is? They were a bunch of boomers screaming, F your dead homie. F your dead homie. Charlie was a fascist. And these were like little old ladies with their stupid, you know, nose rings and purple hair. But they weren’t just Antifa rioters. These were like somewhat normal looking people. I wonder if you think Joe Rogan is right. I wonder if you believe that the loony leftists are fast-tracking a new civil war. Are they leading us into a civil war? I worry about that, and I also debated whether to bring this up on the show, but I think we’ve got to talk about it, don’t you? 800-655-MIKE. I want to get your voice on this. I want to get your perspective. Do you think that – Joe is right. When you see otherwise – people that work in insurance companies and people who work for banks and people who – these aren’t people like hobos in the streets.
SPEAKER 1 :
No.
SPEAKER 10 :
These are us. These are Americans that we take the bus with or we get on a train next to or fly on a plane. These are like normal-looking people celebrating the murder of a beloved figure like Charlie Kirk. And people are getting angry about this, and I worry about the people on my side who are going to get angry, and maybe we’re headed towards… A war. A civil war. Hey, I’ve got to tell you, Tritail’s Premium Beef, my favorite meat delivery service in the world, they’ve got a deal right now that you can’t miss. I told them you were living downtown, driving all the old men crazy.
SPEAKER 11 :
The Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 15 :
The stock market’s hitting record highs like 48 times during my nine months. And just a couple of days ago, it hit another record high, like really record high. It’s great. And that equates, it’s not just rich people. That’s 401ks. I mean, that equates to everybody. And the country’s doing very well.
SPEAKER 11 :
On Salem News Channel and Salem Radio Network, here’s Mike.
SPEAKER 10 :
Something has changed. I love this text from Florida. That something that has changed is that people feel violated since COVID. And now, you know, we got AI adding to all of that. Look, we got a lot of challenges ahead of us. Think about the challenges in Israel. Portions of our show sponsored by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Right now in Ukraine, elderly Jews are trapped in unbearable poverty. Galena is a 96-year-old Holocaust survivor. She spent her entire life in the same village. She’s sick. She’s alone facing another bitterly cold winter. Today, like every day, she’s got to decide whether to spend what little money she has on food, medication, or heating. No one should have to live like this. But for Galena and so many others, this is the harsh reality. The Bible tells us that when you bless elderly Jews living in poverty like her, you’ll receive blessings in return. Through the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and your generous donation, you can bring hope to those in need. Your gift of just $25 will help provide a food box packed full of life-saving essentials that will help feed an elderly Jew struggling to survive. Don’t delay. Your gift today will provide the life-saving food and hope that Galena and so many like her so desperately need. Visit UrgentIFCJ.org. Remember that website. Great place for you to go. It’s all one word. UrgentIFCJ.com to help. UrgentIFCJ.org. UrgentIFCJ.org. Or you can make a call. 866-338-IFCJ. 866-338-4325. Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Look, we’ve got a problem with violence on the left. And Monday’s riots at UC Berkeley, and they were not peaceful protests like one goofy moron reporter tried to pretend. Have they learned nothing? Has the media learned absolutely nothing? I want you to check out, if you’re watching today on Salem News Channel, and we hope you are, go to snc.tv or go to our website, mikeonline.com. You can watch the show online. as well as listen to us on your favorite radio station. We appreciate you being a part of Team Gallagher. Go to MikeOnline.com. We’ve got a lot of things to look forward to. Look, it’s been a great week already for our side. The Democrats fell completely apart. Seven Democrats and an Independent joined with Republicans in ending this shutdown. And let’s just hope and pray tonight everything goes smoothly, and by midnight tonight, the shutdown will be over. President Trump will sign it quickly. They’re all screaming at each other. I mean, look, as Greg Gutfeld put it last night on Fox, the Democrats are mourning the monster that they created. But they’re also creating a monster of violence. And if you’re watching on Salem News Channel, look at the people who are shrieking at the Turning Point crowd, F your dead homie. They’re talking, of course, about Charlie’s assassination. And they’re screaming in unison, F your dead homie, but look at the people who are chanting. These aren’t all purple-haired, nose-ring-wearing freaks from Antifa. These look like our neighbors.
SPEAKER 1 :
The sign they were holding drowned fascism in a sea of resistance.
SPEAKER 17 :
These lunatics don’t even recognize fascism.
SPEAKER 10 :
the insanity of pretending that Turning Point is fascistic for holding a gathering on their precious college campus while they’re rioting in order to prevent the Turning Point gathering from occurring. They’re the fascists, and everybody knows it. And we’re going to have to get a handle on, we’ve got to track down the funding for these terrorist organizations. They’ve got to make arrests? Where were the police on the UC Berkeley campus Monday night? How was that allowed to happen? Why weren’t every one of those rioters dragged away and thrown into a paddy wagon and faced criminal charges? And then that gets into a federal funding of our college campuses. And President Trump’s got to step up. And I trust he will. Pam Bondi’s got to step up. Supposedly, they’ve launched a whole investigation now from the Justice Department in Monday night’s violence. Well, let’s see some arrests. Let’s see some exposure of the groups that are funding. These people are not just showing up without any financial assistance. 800-655-MIKE. Here’s Rudy in Idaho on the Mike Gallagher Show. Rudy, welcome aboard. How are you? Hey, Mike. Thank you for taking my call. You bet.
SPEAKER 05 :
First-time caller, long-time listener.
SPEAKER 10 :
Thanks, Rudy.
SPEAKER 05 :
I’m 34 years old. I served in the Navy. I was born and raised in California. Mom on welfare, social, all that stuff. But somehow I grew up to be a conservative.
SPEAKER 10 :
You resisted all the odds, and you turned out all right. I love it.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, you know, but I think about picking up arms. You know, I think about Civil War and stuff like that. And it would be so hard for me. You know, it pains me to think about that.
SPEAKER 10 :
I can’t even believe we’re talking about it. I mean, we’re not like that, Rudy. That’s not what a conservative does. But on the other hand, how much more can we take? I mean, what did you as a 34-year-old conservative, what has gone through your mind as you’ve watched the mocking of Charlie and the taunting of his family and the celebration of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the celebration of the assassination of the UnitedHealthcare CEO by some crazed leftist? What’s going through your mind when you see this stuff, Rudy?
SPEAKER 05 :
You know, anger. It’s hard to not hate, but… I know. I think about, like… So what I think about is I carry a gun, you know, every day. We’re in Idaho. You know, everyone carries out here.
SPEAKER 02 :
Sure.
SPEAKER 05 :
And I think of, like, in order for me to pick up an arm and kill someone who is in this country, like, I joined the Navy. I signed a contract so I would protect that life, you know? And for me… It would have to be a point where I think of the use of force. I’d have to be directly defending life in order for me to kill another American. To take violence, of course. Yeah. You’ve got to protect yourself.
SPEAKER 10 :
You’ve got to protect your family. You’ve got to protect your loved ones. But you’re not going to aggressively go around and start targeting people we don’t like. No. That’s the problem. That doesn’t even cross our mind, Rudy. We wouldn’t even dream of doing that. But to them… What they’ve done to people like Charlie is not only normal, but it’s something to celebrate.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, yeah, it’s insane. And, you know, I would just say for every American that is conservative, just, you know, continue to use restraint. And if there’s ever a time where you have to directly protect life, your family or another American. then, you know, do it. You have to. Of course you do.
SPEAKER 10 :
If you didn’t do it, how would you feel if you didn’t? Well, and as somebody who carries, you know that anyway. It’s so funny, because I guarantee you, if somebody’s listening to you right now, Rudy, in New York City, they think you’re nuts. They can’t even understand the mindset of people who carry. It just blows their mind. They don’t get it. They don’t recognize it. There’s such a strange… But that’s a different issue altogether. I’m intrigued by… This thoughtful text from John in Michigan who writes, You inadvertently change his comments into a plan to engage in counter-violence. Duh. Well, John, look, I appreciate you analyzing my thinking and my cognitive skills of persuasion. I don’t know what the heck you’re talking about. And that goes to what Rudy just said. It’s one thing for us to protect ourselves and protect our family, protect our loved ones by lethal force if necessary. What the left is doing is something we cannot do, John, in Portage, Michigan. We’re not going to target leaders of the left and put a bullet in their neck. Now, if you think that I’m… becoming influenced by some emotional knee-jerk response, let me reiterate, if you think it’s okay to go pick out leaders of the left’s violent movement and we should target them for assassination, you’ve lost your way, John. I know you mean well, but we can’t be like that. This is what, and we’re going to have to rely on the Justice Department and law enforcement and investigations and exposes of funding. And of course you can defend yourself. You should. What they’re doing to us isn’t self-defense, and we know the difference. You should too, John. Glad you texted, though. I appreciate the analysis. 16 before the hour, 800-655-MIKE. It’s a tough issue. It’s a scary issue. It’s one we’ve got to tackle together here on the Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 16 :
It’s been a long, long time since I had you on my mind.
SPEAKER 10 :

SPEAKER 01 :
We’re now at the end of your first year of this second term. What do you hope to accomplish in the next three years?
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, I hope I can have the same year that we had. Look, we have been acknowledged to have the greatest nine months. You know, it’s nine months. The greatest nine months in the history of the presidency. So if I can keep that going, I’ll be very happy.
SPEAKER 11 :
Here’s Mike.
SPEAKER 10 :
I can tell when I come into work if I’m going to get in trouble on the show. Today’s the day I’m going to get in trouble. I’m already getting challenged. by callers who are attacking me because I don’t believe in demons. How many times have I told you I believe in good versus evil? I do believe there’s a devil. I do believe in God. I’m a Bible-believing Christian. Here’s a text from upstate South Carolina. You’re a Christian, but don’t believe in demons? When did you hear me say I don’t believe in demons? I’m asking if Tucker Carlson thinks that a demon visited him in the middle of the night and scratched him. And I didn’t mock that. I’m not poo-pooing the idea of good versus evil. Please, listen carefully. I know that evil is real. Now, on the other hand, there’s a text from Atlanta. Cut the Alex Jones crap. Tucker is a head case. Phoenix, Arizona. Mike Tucker Carlson is a weirdo. Here’s Indiana. The demon has his mind. His body will be next. Well, look, even if you have been scratched by a demon, you want to stay nice and toasty warm. Winter has arrived. I mean, here in Florida, iguanas are dropping out of the trees. People are panicking. Everyone knows that heat holders makes the warmest thermal socks. I’ve known it for years. How are you, ma’am?
SPEAKER 03 :
Hi, Mike. How are you? I’ve been listening to you for such a long, long time. And I’m not going to drag this out. I’m going to bring the plane in. No demons exist. I’ve had one scratch me a few times in my life. The only time a demon scratched me is when my walk with the Lord was backsliding a little bit, doing something like not right sometimes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Sure. You kind of wavered off the path a little bit, right?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yes, and all of us do. And the people who don’t listen to the other people, Mike, they don’t know beans. If you only knew what the spiritual world was like, I saw demons face to face. And it is written in the Bible that the apostles even saw demons face to face.
SPEAKER 10 :
Sure, sure. Well, let me ask you, I’m really intrigued. So how many times has a demon scratched you?
SPEAKER 03 :
The last time a demon scratched me was about 20 years ago. Wow, wow.
SPEAKER 10 :
Where did he scratch you?
SPEAKER 03 :
On my leg, and I have no pets.
SPEAKER 10 :
No pets, and you just had a, you saw, but I mean, did you experience like, was there like a spirit, like a moment where you knew that the demon was scratching you?
SPEAKER 03 :
It was a presence. There was a presence in my room. I felt a heavy presence in my room, and I started praying. You know, people who are sensitive to the Holy Spirit could feel this in their spirit.
SPEAKER 10 :
Sure, sure. Well, look, like I said, but nothing in the last 20 years.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, but I’ve seen a demon face-to-face a month ago.
SPEAKER 10 :
SPEAKER 03 :
Yes. Where was it? It appeared in my house. It was in my house, and my area is very heavily, how can I say, there’s a bunch of witchcraft in my area. There’s a lot of demonic heaviness in Rosemont. There is. And I really don’t care what people say. Unless you give your life to Christ and want to get to know him, you will experience the other world. You will experience the spiritual realm. I’m telling you, Mike, it exists, it’s scary, and we’re in the battle every single day.
SPEAKER 10 :
Amen. Look, I mean, we’re seeing the battle with evil right now. We’re seeing good versus evil play out all the time. Well, good. Well, hang in there. Look, if there’s a big demonic presence in Rosemont, you might want to consider getting a good realtor. Maybe it’s time to head out of town. 800-655-MIKE. Here’s Forest City, North Carolina. Jesus commanded demons to leave people. Seeing the evil in the world, I feel a lot of people have demons. Look, you don’t think it’s demonic to witness the celebration of people’s assassinations? Did you see what happened Monday night in Berkeley, California? there’s a lot of demonic behavior going on. Political violence is real. Now, some people would say, well, it’s not really demonic. Oh, no, evil is real. Evil is absolutely real. And I’m just wondering if you, and a lot of people are telling me that it absolutely is correct that Tucker, like our last caller, believes he was scratched by a demon. Do we have that story? Do we have that clip? I mean, I think he explains it somewhere. But here’s, of course, I… I don’t want to read the Daily Beast version of this, because they’re just going to make fun of him. Tucker said that he was physically mauled by a demon. Now, this article is from October of 2024, I think, so this might be a little bit old. Asked by his… John Hears, if he thought the presence of evil is kick-starting people to wonder about the good, Tucker answered, that’s what happened to me. I had a direct experience with it. And the interviewer said, in journalism? And Tucker said, no, in my bed at night. I got attacked while I was asleep with my wife and four dogs and mauled, physically mauled, The interviewer said, in a spiritual attack by a demon? Tucker said, yeah, by a demon or by something unseen that left claw marks on my sides. The interviewer said, so it left physical marks? Carlson, oh yeah, they’re still there. Yeah, yeah, a year and a half ago. The interviewer, was your wife terrified? I know you were. Tucker said, I wasn’t. I was totally confused. I woke up. I couldn’t breathe. I thought I was going to suffocate. I walked around outside. Then I walked in and my wife and dogs had not woken up. They’re very light sleepers. Then I had these terrible pains on my rib cage and on my shoulder. And I was just in my boxer shorts. And I went and flipped on the light in the bathroom. And I had four claw marks on either side underneath my arms and on my left shoulder. And they’re bleeding. They were bleeding? Carlson, they were bleeding, yeah. Actual claw marks. And I sleep on my side, so I wasn’t clawing myself. I don’t have long nails. They didn’t fit in my hands anyway, but yeah, that happened. Carlson went on to say that he consulted his assistant, who’s an evangelical Christian, because he had never heard of anything like that happening before. And she said to him, yeah, that happens. People are attacked in their bed by demons. Look, I may never go to sleep again. I may just try to stay up for the rest. I’m just not going to go to bed. Incidentally, here’s a text from Columbus, Ohio. Mike, I definitely believe in demons. I think my mother-in-law is one. Here’s Paul in New Jersey. Paul, you’re on the Mike Gallagher Show. Hi, Paul. How are you?
SPEAKER 04 :
Hey, Mike.
SPEAKER 10 :
How’s it going?
SPEAKER 04 :
I’m laughing my butt off because I think that’s a funny mother-in-law joke. Anyway, it’s great, Mike. You know, two things. First of all, good morning. Hello. First comment I’d like to make is the gentleman who called about the Clinton-Epstein-Falls thing. Absolutely. I think… I think President Trump is trying to keep the nation as a father of the nation who keeps things balanced for the rest of the family or the good of the whole. Sure. I think that that is something going on there. I really was so glad to hear him talk about that because that just has been in my spirit. And I want you to have a good day, and I want you to go to bed and sleep well because – If you would read The Life of Padre Pio on the committee of Catholic Christians, Padre Pio wrestles every night.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, yeah. No, I’ve read about Padre Pio. A fascinating story about, what’s the, I forget the word. Paul, what’s the word? Oh, we lost you. There’s a word that when your hands and feet bleed as Christ did, and the, oh, stigmata, stigmata, yeah. And that’s a fascinating story. All right, I’m going to get a bunch of callers in here. Good to hear from you, sir. Paul in Alexandria, Virginia. Or no, Mark, rather. Hey, Mark, how you doing, sir? Hey, how are you today? I’m good, I’m good. What’s up?
SPEAKER 06 :
So I just wanted to say that I have had experiences with demons. And given Tucker is a fairly new Christian, recently saved, has this worldwide reach where he is talking about the gospel. When you stir things up, the demonic world is not happy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, that’s true.
SPEAKER 06 :
And so I had a similar experience. I was wide awake and The person that I was dealing with, we had been a lot of deep discussion about Christ, and this person had a demon. And I was face-to-face with that demon. And Jesus is the answer.
SPEAKER 10 :
Somebody just texted me, a couple people texted with the other lady who saw the demon, wanted to know what the demon looks like. What did your demon look like?
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, my demon looked like the person that I was talking to because I was awake. The person, the other person, basically they went into this like trance. And the demon told me that I’m going to kill this person. He said, I’m going to kill her. And I said, who her? Because I was worried about other people in the house. Sure. And the demon said, This one hurt.
SPEAKER 10 :

SPEAKER 10 :
This week, podcaster Joe Rogan complained about the political violence that is being celebrated by the left. And I want to share with you a little bit of what Joe said before we bring in our guest, who I’ve been very much looking forward to visiting with, Josh Hammer, who’s the host of the brand-new Josh Hammer Show on Salem Podcast Network, new to the Salem family. And I heard Josh filling in for Mark Davis this week in Dallas. And I want to get his take on this acceleration of of political violence that is being lifted up, that is being cheered on, that is being not just supported but praised. Check out Joe Rogan’s concerns about the political violence we’re seeing from the loony leftists.
SPEAKER 08 :
Charlie Kirk gets shot and people are celebrating like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You want people to die that you disagree with? Like, where are we right now on the scale of one to two civil war? Where are we? Are we at seven? Because I thought we were five. I thought we were like four, four or five. But after Charlie Kirk, I’m like, oh, we might be like seven. This might be like step seven on the way to a bona fide civil war. As soon as you start, like, regular people celebrating somebody getting murdered in front of their wife and kid on television in front of the whole world, as soon as you celebrate that, like, man, you’re in dark territory. You’re in dark territory. And if the worst thing you can say about that guy is that he said some things I disagree with and you’re celebrating that he got shot in the neck in front of the world… Whoa, and you work at an insurance company? This is nuts. And you thought it was okay to say that on Instagram? This is nuts. This is nuts.
SPEAKER 10 :
Monday night at UC Berkeley, a Turning Point USA gathering took place. Outside the venue was a ton of people cheering and celebrating Charlie’s assassination. We are in a dark, dark place. And, of course, violence broke out. I think very few arrests were made, and it has led to what appears to be a DOJ investigation into the source of the violence. You’ve probably read Josh Hammer’s work. His columns have been featured in outlets like the New York Post, National Review, Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy. Of course, we’re thrilled to welcome him as one of the newest members of the Salem Podcast Network family. Josh Hammer, welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show. How are you?
SPEAKER 09 :
Mike, I’m doing great. It’s a pleasure to join you. Thank you for having me.
SPEAKER 10 :
Thank you. You’re doing a great job, incidentally, pinch hitting for Mark Davis this week. So kudos. Let’s talk a little bit about this political violence that is now being celebrated. It’s not only occurring, but after it occurs, whether it’s the UnitedHealthcare CEO who got brutally gunned down, young husband and father. Of course, the authorities say it was committed by an angry guy that hated the healthcare industry. He’s now got a big GoFundMe collection of lunatics who have supported him legally. We’ve got Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Monday night, the violence at UC Berkeley. Do you think Joe Rogan is right? We’re in such a dark place right now that we might be headed for, heaven forbid, civil war?
SPEAKER 09 :
Mike, it’s something that I think a lot about, to be totally candid with you. The polling data that we see from the activist left is deeply harrowing and profoundly discomforting when it comes to this very topic. So when I was filling in for Mark Davis on 660 AM The Answer just a couple hours ago, I was talking about this poll out of Harvard University that I saw maybe two months ago, give or take. And this is Harvard, okay? This is the creme de la creme in theory of American higher education establishment. And Thirty to thirty five percent, roughly one third of Harvard University students who are polled said that political violence can be justified if necessary to prevent a speaker from speaking. And this is happening in the context of the assassination of our late friend and colleague, Charlie Kirk. the multiple assassination attempts on Donald Trump’s life. You mentioned the UnitedHealthcare CEO and Luigi Mangione. I mean, we had the assassination of multiple Israeli embassy staffers by a deranged free Palestine Marxist earlier this year, and on and on and on it goes. It’s a longstanding problem, by the way. I mean, the shooting of Steve Scalise and the Republican baseball team back in 2017, it’s been a problem on the left for a long, long time. The Covenant shooting in Nashville, I could just name a million other examples here, but… Unless until we come to terms with this, it’s only going to get worse. And, you know, on my show, The Josh Hammer Show yesterday, Mike, I did my opening monologue talking about Veterans Day. And I used that moment to look at the total number of deaths in all of America’s conflicts in American history. And to this day. The American Civil War, which has an estimated 600,000 to 630,000, somewhere in that range, number of total deaths. There are more deaths in the American Civil War than all of America’s other wars combined. Literally World War II, World War I, all of them combined still are not the Civil War. So I say that for present purposes because if Joe Rogan is even close to correct – and I fear that he’s on to something. I really do. then we have to do whatever the heck we can to turn down the temperature. Now, the paradox is that there’s only so much that those of us on the right can do right now when this really does seem to be a disproportionately left-wing problem. But this moment calls for nothing else for any leaders remaining. If there are any… elder statesman and any folks who are grounded in constitutional American principles on the left remaining there, someone who wants to keep this country together, for goodness sake, now is the time for a really solemn address to try to take down the temperature because we could be heading to a really dark place, potentially, God forbid, if this happens.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, the problem, and I just would gently push back a little bit, when anybody uses the expression, turn down the temperature, yeah, that’s what they need to do. I don’t know that we’re guilty of any temperature problem. I mean, we don’t want to kill anybody. We don’t want to commit acts of political violence. Paul just wrote me a text from Chicago, great observation. The Democrats just elected an attorney general who, in Virginia who wants to see Republicans killed and children die in the arms of their parents. And they went, we are indeed dark times. You know, Josh, your work, and I’ve read your work, of course, over at Newsweek, your senior editor at large there, your work on Israel is profound and important. And I had a caller say something that made me think about the parallel between what we’re experiencing here domestically and what Israel and Hamas has gone through. and what Israel has experienced at the hands of brutal, bloodthirsty terrorists. We’re a little bit like Israel, and the loony left, Antifa, and these crazies celebrating Charlie Kirk, they’re like the terrorists. They’re Hamas. You know, Israel wants to be left alone. Just let us exist. Conservatives went to a gathering Monday night at Berkeley and just wanted to have a turning point event, and the lunatics out there rioted and threw bombs and Molotov, all that crap, They want to shut all that down. It’s like one side wants to destroy us. We don’t agree with them, but they think we’re evil. That’s the difference.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, and I totally agree with you, by the way, that this is not an all sides are the same phenomenon. Not at all. I mean, you know, a few hooligans. By the way, you know, if January 6th was actually a quote-unquote insurrection, as they say, I mean, talk about the worst armed insurrection ever. I mean, I very… A very gun-owning population, which mysteriously brought essentially zero firearms there. So kind of square that circle for me. So, I mean, this is clearly not an all-of-the-above phenomenon. Political violence is almost exclusively, almost exclusively a left-wing political phenomenon in the year 2025. And, yes, we do see it when it comes to Antifa, when it comes to these campus events. Mike, I mean, it’s just a basic reality. I mean, I’ve been doing a number of canvas talks through various organizations, Turning Point USA, YAF, Young America Foundation for years. You know, anytime I go speak on canvas, especially on the Israel issue, but frankly, on virtually any issue, there is always a real risk that there’s going to be protesters who are going to try to shout me down at best. And we’re going to try to do something violent at worst. That’s just the nature of the times.
SPEAKER 10 :
And they call you the fascist.
SPEAKER 09 :
They called me the fascist. Yeah. It’s nuts. Absolutely nuts.
SPEAKER 10 :
Think about that. Think about that. They want to shut you down and they want to out-shout you and they want to pull the plug and they want to commit violence so that you can’t be hurt. Look, that’s the rub with Charlie Kirk. He was being hurt. He was effective. He was winning over hearts and minds. And they hate him for it. And they still hate him. after they killed him. This is what is astounding. We’re visiting with Josh Hammer. You can follow him on X, at Josh underscore Hammer. Just a really important voice in these matters. There is something that has changed, Josh, and I think you agree with this. In the last year, two years, I don’t know if it started with Luigi. I don’t know if it started, like you said, with the Covington school shooting. Something has changed where the left has decided to go all in on political violence. They believe that the way to stop us is to actually kill us. And I’m not overstating that, am I?
SPEAKER 09 :
No, you’re not. And I know that firsthand. I mean, Mike, I recently purchased my first body armor vest. When I do campus events, various other public events, that is just the nature of the times that we live in. is there are folks out there who genuinely want to harm us. And if they really have the druthers to kill us, how else to look at the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk? There was a deranged, fanatical, transgender, adjacent, furry fetishist who wanted Charlie Kirk dead. And tragically, he was able to succeed in his quest there. I mean, how many more examples do we need until we start to take them seriously at their words?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and again, look at the response to that, all right? The violent, murderous action is one thing. But then in post-assassination, to stand around Monday night at Berkeley and look, Josh, I saw the faces of those people who were screaming, F your dead homie, F your dead homie. It wasn’t just purple-haired freaks with nose rings. There were grandmas. There were white people that looked like your kindly aunt. You know, your Aunt Martha is standing on the street corner screaming, F your dead homie, to a bunch of conservative kids who just wanted to get together to celebrate Turning Point.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, and how much blame, Mike, does the media blame for this? I mean the years and years of just calling Donald Trump Hitler and the Republican Party conservatives just a bunch of goose-stepping brown shirts from the beer hall putsch in the 1920s to the 30s in Berlin. I mean they blame so much culpability for this. I mean by just saying over and over and over again. that Donald Trump is Hitler, Charlie Kirk’s a fascist, I’m a fascist, calling us a bunch of goose-stepping Nazis. I mean, hold aside just the disgusting nature of that. I’m an Orthodox Jew. I had relatives kill in the Holocaust. Hold all that aside. What you’re actually doing here, what you’re actually doing is you’re trying to convey in a not-so-subtle wink-wink, nudge-nudge fashion that the proper remedy to Hitler and Nazis is to take action by any means necessary. over and over again the charlie kirk assassination’s most recent example but even after butler pennsylvania they doubled down like never before on cable news they asked joe biden before they swapped now they asked kamala harris do you condemn this rhetoric and time and time again they would give like a very meek kind of but really they would say no but he’s really a fascist He’s a unique threat to America’s constitutional order. Well, really, if you actually think that, if you actually think that we on the right are a unique threat to America’s constitutional order, I mean, irony of all ironies, the threat is actually coming from the other direction. But if you actually think that, it’s no surprise that someone would just take matters into his own hands there. So the media bears a massive, massive responsibility for this. And that cannot be understood.
SPEAKER 10 :
And Josh Hammer, what I worry about is we’re going to have people on our side who are going to decide to take matters into their own hands. And that’s what leads Joe Rogan, who’s a smart guy, to say, let’s hope we’re not headed for a civil war. And that’s something we’ve got to have on our radar, don’t you think?
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s something I think about more often than I care to admit. Me too. Me too. Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
I know. It’s scary. Hey, Josh, we’re up against the clock. I appreciate you very much. Keep fighting the good fight. Good to visit with you. Come back and see us again.
SPEAKER 09 :
God bless you, Mike. Thank you.
SPEAKER 10 :
Josh Hammer, who’s a newest member of the Salem Podcast Network family. Stick around. More coming up.
