In this episode, host Mike Geller takes listeners on a journey through significant transformations occurring within the government and media landscapes in Washington, D.C. The focal point centers on President Trump’s executive orders and their implications, including the reinstatement of military personnel who were previously discharged for refusing COVID vaccinations. Geller explores the evolving narrative around COVID-19’s origins, dissecting the shift in recognition from conspiracy theory to plausible reality. The episode continues with an engaging conversation with newsman Roger P. Shulman, known for his candid reporting style, as they delve into the contentious label of the ‘China Virus’ and
SPEAKER 10 :
He’s the happy conservative warrior. From the Relief Factor studios, here’s Mike Geller.
SPEAKER 13 :
We knew it was going to be good, but I don’t think anybody thought it was going to be this good. After week one, we are already witnessing a remarkable transformation of the government in Washington, D.C., of the media’s coverage of the 45th and 47th president. They’re whining about… The media being too deferential. They’re normalizing him. Wait a minute. He’s the president of the United States. You might not think it’s normal that he is, but he’s there. And there’s nothing they can do about it. And just last week, my gosh, we got to start with Friday. And he went to North Carolina and he goes over to Los Angeles. All these executive orders, there’s so much to absorb. And one of the things that caught my eye over the weekend is the news that President Trump is going to sign an executive order to reinstate service members who were kicked out of the military for refusing to get a COVID vaccination. I saw a story at Axios today. Oh, it’s coming back, the pandemic, the quadriplegic, I mean, on and on about RSV and COVID and the flu. Oh, no, people are getting the flu. Okay, yeah, people are going to get the flu. We’re going to shut everything down again? Let’s face it, a lot of people on the left would have no problem with that. They like that. They like that kind of… power, and control. It’s not going to happen ever again, at least not in the next four years. According to the White House fact sheet, the executive order directs the defense secretary, thank goodness, Pete Hegseth, to reinstate all members of the military who were discharged for refusing the COVID vaccine and who request to be reinstated. Now, speaking of COVID, another story that came out over the weekend. Remember how many people got in trouble for suggesting that the coronavirus came from a lab in Wuhan? Even Jon Stewart went on the Stephen Colbert show and said, you know, it’s like, oh, there’s an outbreak of chocolatey goodness in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Wonder what could be the cause? Remember the whole wet market thing and the virus jumped from a pangolin to a man? Well, now the CIA thinks that the virus originated from a lab. The assessment was declassified and released Saturday on the orders of President Trump’s pick to lead the agency, John Ratcliffe. The new director of the CIA said, has said that this critical piece of intelligence should be released to the public. And guess what? It has been. Now the CIA says it’s more likely… that COVID originated from a lab leak. I thought it would be good to track this story down with one of the few news people in America who routinely called it the China virus. Roger P. Shulman has been covering news in Florida for the better part of five decades, and I wanted to bring Roger in. We, of course, last year, we added him to the Mike Gallagher Show lineup. He’s in the Mike Gallagher newsroom. looking spiffy, and is that a red, white, and blue tie or a red, white, and black tie? Red, white, and dark blue, very dark blue.
SPEAKER 01 :
Dark blue.
SPEAKER 13 :
All right, good. My eagle eye caught it. You’ve got a patriotic tie on. You always referred to it as the China virus. Did you get any flack for that over the years?
SPEAKER 01 :
I did get some flack, but I continued it because that’s where it came from. It’s obvious that’s where it came from. Seven million people died of it, countless others died, have had problems since. We have had so many businesses closed in this country because of it. Many have not recovered yet. And obviously it came from China. You had a lab in Wuhan that was working with the help of Fauci to weaponize this virus. He was told not to do this. You have this building in the middle of a town, a city with millions of people Horrible place to put it, because any mistake is out in the population immediately. These labs, in my opinion, should be 50 miles out in some desert, covered by some sort of covering, so if this does happen, it doesn’t affect anybody. But no, they put it in the middle of a population area. Apparently, a mistake was made, according to the CIA, and it caused this to be released. Unfortunately, the Chinese government did not stop flights out of China to the United States and other areas. like Italy. Italy was hit hard because they import Chinese workers to work on those nice purses that you get for thousands of dollars that say they’re from Italy, but actually they’re worked on by Chinese people who work cheaply and are flown in each day, well, each week or so from China. So you had a whole situation there where this went around the world very quickly. I don’t know if China wanted that to happen, if it was planned or what, but it’s a terrible situation. Anthony Fauci is should, in my opinion, and this is just my opinion, take the main blame because he’s the one who wanted to weaponize, make this virus, which is a bad virus, even a worse virus, and it killed 7 million people. Big crime against humanity, I would think.
SPEAKER 13 :
This is why there’s such debate over whether or not it’s reasonable to pull Anthony Fauci’s security detail from him. We’re spending millions of dollars to guard him at the expense of the American taxpayer, and of course he’s gone on to make millions and millions of dollars. The argument is he can afford to get his own secured if he wants bodyguards. And incidentally, Roger, before anybody accuses this of being politicized, these conclusions that the CIA has come to came from a review ordered by the Biden administration. They were just released this week by Radcliffe, but it was a Biden-ordered review. The CIA reviewed it, and they said, look, it’s more likely than not that it came from the lab. I mean, remember when people were getting destroyed for saying that? People were being called whack-job, wild-eyed conspiracy theorists. If you dared say that it came from the lab, people like Roger P. Shulman got flack for calling it the China virus.
SPEAKER 01 :
And that’s where it came from. I was accused of being racist because it was Chinese. What about the Spanish flu? What about the various African Ebola’s and things that came from? We’ve always given place names to these diseases. But now, since it’s the Chinese, oh, we can’t say that. It’s, as you say, racist.
SPEAKER 13 :
Racist. Well, no, there’s no racism there. It’s just cold, hard facts. Roger P. Shulman, great job, and this is one of the reasons we love you. This is one guy who always called it the China virus in all of his newscasts, one of the best newsmen in America checking in with us from our newsroom. Thank you, Roger. 14 past the hour. We’re in the Relief Factor studios. It is Monday, and welcome aboard. My, man, oh, man, do we have a lot to break down. Monday, the final Monday of the month. Congratulations, I guess, to the Eagles. Congratulations, I guess, to the Chiefs. I wonder what the Chiefs would do if they had objective referees. I mean, it’s like the whole narrative. You’ve got to have Taylor Swift, and you’ve got to have the Chiefs, and oh, the three-peat. You do know the Eagles don’t stand a chance in the Super Bowl, right? There’s no way. I think there were five disputed calls last night when I was watching. All five of them went the Chiefs’ way. And some of them were just blatantly bad. So, look, I appreciate officials, and I know I’m just preaching to the choir, but sure seemed like a lot of calls that mysteriously went the Chiefs’ way all night long. I was really pulling for the Bills. I was really, really pulling for the Eagles to lose. Not a big Eagle. Look, I love our audience in Philadelphia, but, man, I think it’s just that ingrained Dallas Cowboys fandom I have. And all the years of rivalry between the Eagles and the Cowboys. But, hey, I’m pulling for the Eagles, I guess, now. Because I don’t want the Chiefs. Forget the whole Taylor Swift 3P. I know Mahomes is great. And I know that Andy Reid’s fantastic. Great coach. But give it to somebody else. Give it to the Eagles. So that’s my tortured way of saying go birds. Go Philadelphia Eagles. Our number is 800-655-MIKE. I’m just curious, where do people go to get their reputation back? People who were smeared and slammed and attacked for daring to suggest that the virus came from the lab in Wuhan? Now it was revealed, and this is probably, with all the millions of stories we’re trying to keep up with, one that you may have missed, the CIA believes that the COVID lab leak theory is not just a theory. They think that’s what happened. Give me your reaction to all of that. We better never make those mistakes again. We better never go down that path again. We better allow Americans to be Americans, and that means to speak your mind and say how you feel, even if you say something like, I think that virus came from a lab in Wuhan, China. There’s nothing racist about it. 800-655-6453. One phone number does it all. Text or call. Join us here on a Monday episode of The Mike Gallagher Show.

Breaking now on the Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 13 :
Despite the best efforts of Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Mitch McConnell, Pete Hegseth made it. He squeaked by thanks to J.D. Vance casting the tie-breaking vote. Look, I’ve given up trying to figure out Mitch McConnell or Lisa Murkowski. The argument for Susan Collins is, well, she’s in the state of Maine. I don’t care. Don’t call yourself a Republican if you’re not going to vote like a Republican. Now, what’s Mitch McConnell’s excuse? How does Mitch McConnell, who’s been around 100 years, justify voting for Katonji Brown Jackson or voting against Brett Kavanaugh? Would he vote against Kavanaugh? He definitely voted for Lloyd Austin. I mean, Mitch McConnell’s all over the place. And for what? So you’re against Pete Hegseth? Sticking your thumb in the eye of Donald Trump? Is that your point, Mitch? Is that what you’re trying to do? Anyway, moments ago on Capitol Hill, the new Secretary of Defense met with reporters for the first time.
SPEAKER 05 :
Today, there are more executive orders coming that we fully support on removing DEI inside the Pentagon, reinstating troops who were pushed out because of COVID mandates, Iron Dome for America. This is happening quickly. And as the Secretary of Defense, it’s an honor to salute smartly, as I did as a junior officer and now as the Secretary of Defense, to ensure these orders are complied with rapidly and quickly. Every moment that I’m here, I’m thinking about the guys and gals in Guam, in Germany, Fort Benning and Fort Bragg on missile defense sites and aircraft carriers. Our job is lethality and readiness and warfighting. We’re going to hold people accountable. I know the chairman agrees with that. The lawful orders of the President of the United States will be executed inside this Defense Department swiftly and without excuse. We will be no better friend to our allies and no stronger adversary to those who want to test us and try us.
SPEAKER 13 :
Amen and amen. Mitch McConnell voted against that guy. Mitch McConnell doesn’t think Pete Hegseth is sufficiently qualified. Mitch McConnell has become Chuck Schumer’s best buddy. In fact… There was video of Mitch McConnell on the floor of the Senate after he cast his no vote, walking over and shaking hands with the Democrats. Kentucky, how do you explain this guy? Look, Mitch McConnell did a splendid job helping to secure the Supreme Court confirmations for Trump the first time around. He held the line. He got a lot of flack over Merrick Garland and all of that. Fine. Good for him. Now, beyond that, what’s he done? Other than betray millions and millions of Americans who expect him to support the president they elected. I guess it’s just a show of defiance for President Trump. I don’t get it. If you’re in Kentucky, can you explain this to me? Why you keep voting for this guy? Is it the power of the incumbent? Is that what it is? It’s just the power of the incumbency? You’re there. Everybody knows you. I mean, this guy, had we not won in Pennsylvania, if Scott Pressler had not mounted the one-man army effort in Pennsylvania and McCormick hadn’t won, Pete Hegseth is out. He doesn’t get confirmed. We couldn’t have afforded to lose one more. And it wasn’t Tom Tillis who went squishy. I mean, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins are always going to rhino. But Mitch McConnell. My apologies, of course. Of course, Mitch McConnell voted for Brett Kavanaugh. And I was getting mixed up with Brett Kavanaugh and… somebody else he was against. But yeah, he supported Justice Kavanaugh. But I don’t get this. I don’t get Alaska. Isn’t Alaska a conservative state? Isn’t Alaska reliably red? I know Kentucky is. So how do the Mitch McConnells and the Lisa Murkowskis of the world get away with this crap? Is it too late? Are they been around forever and you just can’t get rid of them? I had kind of an interesting social media moment. Friday night when this happened, I posted on X, one day, one day, Kentucky will get a senator who truly represents their views. They deserve better than this guy. Well, Dan Bongino reposted my comment, and it took off like a rocket ship. Of course, Dan has millions of followers. And I got like almost, do you see that, Christian? It’s like almost 300,000 views. Hundreds and hundreds, actually thousands of comments. It was pretty cool to watch one of my comments take off like that. But, you know, I wasn’t certainly in the minority. I’m just expressing the frustration of plenty of Americans. And I wonder, will this finally change? Do you think that this is going to finally get fixed? Are the Mitch McConnells of the world going to be sent packing? I just don’t get it. And maybe you can help me understand this. If you’re in Kentucky, if you’re in Alaska, why do you vote for these people? Why do you vote for people who continually stab Trump in the back? 800-655-MIKE, 20 minutes before the hour. Hey, don’t forget the Alaska cruise, speaking of Alaska, and people are signing up left and right. We’re nearing 200 people, and look, when these staterooms are gone, they’re gone. There’s nothing like an Alaska cruise. There’s nothing like touring the wilderness, the beauty, the majesty of one of our most beautiful states. And Larry Elder and I are going to co-host the Patriots Alaska cruise this summer. It’s going to take place from August the 16th through the 23rd. And we’ll be joined by Jennifer Horn from Los Angeles, Joe Piscopo from New York. We’re going to sail through the last frontier. On board, you’ll enjoy thought-provoking talks, exclusive events, and they are exclusive. You’ve got to book through us in order to be on the trip with us. Please don’t try to book around us like many did this past Fourth of July when Seb Gorka and I hosted hundreds of you on the first Patriots Alaska cruise. Well, now this is the second Patriots Alaska cruise. Mike Gallagher, Larry Elder, a beautiful cruise ship, the Holland Americas, Eurodam. There’s a nice spa on board. Most of the rooms have balconies where you can watch the wilderness and the beautiful scenery from the ship inside. There’s even a casino on board. TravelWithSalem.com is the site. TravelWithSalem.com to get all the details over our second Patriots Alaska cruise in August. TravelWithSalem.com, or you can just text the keyword Alaska. to the MyPillow text line, which is 800-655-MIKE. Text ALASKA to 800-655-6453. Lori’s in Minnesota. Lori, what happens to these voters in Alaska and Kentucky? Why do they continue to vote for people like Lisa Murkowski?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, here’s the deal, Mike. There are only two states in the country, I believe, that have what is called ranked choice voting. Nope, 19. Okay, then I’m definitely wrong. But Ranked Choice Voting skews the results, plus Murkowski’s a huge name in Alaska. And I just want to say one thing about Mitch. It’s time for him to go, and Hugh Hewitt loves the man. So you’ve got to talk to him, Mike. Love you.
SPEAKER 13 :
Thank you. I can’t control how other people feel. It doesn’t matter. Everybody’s got a right to their own opinion. I don’t get it. And look, I appreciate the role that Mitch McConnell played with the Supreme Court. But being a U.S. Senator in a position of leadership like that is way beyond. It’s way beyond that. And I just pull my hair out. Mitch McConnell votes no. and then goes over and shakes the hands of the Democrats? And a lot of people are speculating that there’s a lot more going on with Mitch McConnell than meets the eye. Quickly, Pete in Tennessee wants to weigh in on the illegal immigration crackdown. Hey, Pete, thanks for holding. How are you?
SPEAKER 14 :
Yes, sir. My question is, why can they not start arresting these judges and these prosecutors in all these different states because… They know that those people, when they come in, and the judge and the prosecutor, if they let them get out, if they don’t put them in jail, that’s eight in the bed.
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, there’s a lot of, look, all of this is going to take time. But the crackdown on illegal immigration is long overdue. And finally we’re seeing it happen. We’re looking at – and here was J.D. Vance talking about birthright citizenship. Birthright citizenship was never intended for illegal immigrants. That was a Dred Scott ruling. That was an amendment that had to do with giving citizenship to black Americans. And that has been now twisted and warped into allowing people – I was talking to a friend of mine who lives in Texas, who lives in the Rio Grande Valley. They said, look, this has gone on for years. Women will come over. They’re pregnant in Mexico. They wait until they’re about eight and a half months in. They go across the border, give birth on American soil so that that baby – And the family will then get health care benefits afforded to American citizens. And then they go back to Mexico. But then they go back over the border. They go back and forth like a revolving door to get the benefits. That’s an absolute perversion of the Constitution. Here was J.D. Vance with Margaret Brennan. Boy, did he give her a master class. It was game, set, match J.D. yesterday on CBS’s Face the Nation.
SPEAKER 04 :
If you are a lawful permanent resident or a legal immigrant who plans to stay, your children, of course, should become American citizens. But let’s say you’re the child of an ambassador. You don’t become… But that’s not part of it. Well, that is an important principle. But we’re saying that that carve-out should apply to anybody who doesn’t plan to stay here. If you come here on vacation and you have a baby in an American hospital, that baby doesn’t become an American citizen if you’re an illegal alien. And you come here temporarily. Hopefully your child does not become an elite American citizen by virtue of just having been born on American soil. It’s a very basic principle in American immigration law that if you want to become an American citizen and you’ve done it the right way and the American people and their collective wisdom have welcomed you into our national community, then you become a citizen. But temporary residents, people who come in here, whether legally or illegally, and don’t plan to stay, their children should become American citizens. I don’t know any country that does that or why we would be different.
SPEAKER 13 :
You’ve got to watch this interview with Margaret Brennan and J.D. Vance on CBS yesterday. It was spectacular. Here he was talking about the failed vetting process of refugees here in America.
SPEAKER 06 :
When you talked to us in August, you said, I don’t think we should abandon anybody who’s been properly vetted and helped us. Do you stand by that?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, Margaret, I don’t agree that all these immigrants or all these refugees have been properly vetted. In fact, we know that there are cases of people who allegedly were properly vetted and then were literally planning terrorist attacks on our country. That happened during the campaign, if you may remember. So clearly not all of these foreign nationals have been properly vetted.
SPEAKER 06 :
Afghan refugees.
SPEAKER 04 :
But my primary concern as the vice president, Margaret, is to look after the American people. And now that we know that we have vetting problems with a lot of these refugee programs, we absolutely cannot unleash thousands of unvetted people into our country. These people are not good.
SPEAKER 06 :
These people are vetted.
SPEAKER 04 :
Just like the guy who played a terrorist attack in Oklahoma a few months ago. He was allegedly properly vetted. And many people in the media and the Democratic Party said that he was properly vetted. Clearly, he wasn’t. I don’t want my children to share a neighborhood with people who are not properly vetted. And because I don’t want it for my kids, I’m not going to force any other American citizens kids to do that either.
SPEAKER 06 :
No. And that was a very particular case. It wasn’t clear if he was radicalized when he got here or while he was living.
SPEAKER 04 :
I don’t really care, Margaret. I don’t want that person in my country. And I think most Americans agree with me.
SPEAKER 13 :
Gosh, I mean, her condescending, patronizing, talking down to him. And he’s like, look, I don’t really care how he got here. I don’t want him in my in my country. It was so good. And then she tried the old, we’re a nation founded on immigrants. Don’t you know that? Vice President Vance, check this out.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, this is a country founded by immigrants.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, this is a country founded by… This is a very unique country, and it was founded by some immigrants and some settlers. But just because we were founded by immigrants doesn’t mean that 240 years later that we have to have the dumbest immigration policy in the world.
SPEAKER 13 :
It was so good. And once again, there’s a member of the media doing her best to be the loyal opposition. And that’s okay until they get in the way of trying to stop them from governing, which is what their goal is. Welcome in, 12 minutes before the hour, one open line, 800-655-MIKE. Can you believe how well things are going? Isn’t it hard to even comprehend that we’ve got this many great things happening all at once? Insurrection Barbie posted on X the first week. I’ve got to give you this rundown. It’s unbelievable. One week in, and look at all that’s already happened. That and more coming up.
SPEAKER 07 :

He’s the happy conservative warrior. From the Relief Factor studios, here’s Mike Geller.
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s a little bit hard to believe that things have gone so well a week into the Trump era. The golden age, as we call it. You see, over the weekend, the left-wing president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, was trying to saber-rattle and say that they wouldn’t take the, they wouldn’t receive the deportation flights from Colombian illegals being returned to their country. And Trump said, okay, you want to play ball that way? He declared 25% tariffs on all goods imported from Colombia. And all the lefties and the Trump haters were saying, now watch, our coffee prices are going to go up. Oh, we’re going to have a damaged relationship with a longtime U.S. partner. Well, headline, Trump wins deportation standoff. Columbia caved. Just two hours after he posted online about his intention to impose a 25% tariff on Colombian imports, the nation balked. Not two hours after Trump announced his, what the media calls, retaliatory efforts against Colombia, The Colombian president released a letter offering his own presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of the compatriots who were to arrive in the country from deportation flights. You see, it can be done. And this is what Americans’ normals are recognizing. The Democrats acted like that doesn’t work. Well, it just did in real time. That’s astounding. Trump said, okay, and this goes back to Trump’s often repeated belief that tariffs is the most beautiful word in the English language. Look what he got done. So Colombia said, we don’t want them back. We don’t want criminal illegals returned to our country. Trump said, okay, how about a 25% tariff? How about that? How do you like them coffee beans? And they caved. The Colombian president said, oh, take my plane. Okay. Sorry, Mr. President. Sorry, El Presidente. Golly, the mood in America right now is one, for normal people, that is, is one of joy and one of gratitude, one of appreciation. I love this clip I saw on social media this morning. It was over on X. Some guys on a plane when the pilot made this announcement.
SPEAKER 09 :
Ladies and gentlemen, if you’ll look at the right side of the aircraft, you’ll see the Gulf of America. USA! USA!
SPEAKER 1 :
USA!
SPEAKER 13 :
Wow. I mean, the whole issue of illegal immigration, incidentally, has taken a complete turn for the better. Americans are starting to recognize, you know, it’s been so long since we were even willing to recognize that it’s a crime to sneak into this country in the first place. You know, when you try to change the language and say, well, we’re not going to call them illegal, we’re going to call them undocumented. Oh, we’re not going to call them illegals, we’re going to call them migrants. When you try to brainwash people and condition people, Americans forget the fundamentals. And one of the fundamentals is it’s against the law in the first place to be here without going through the immigration process that we have established. Yes, our immigration system is broken, and that’s because Democrats didn’t want to enforce our immigration laws. Scott Jennings over on CNN. CNN is a fascinating case study in how a media comes around. They’re making all these changes in media that Nora O’Donnell, who every night would rip into President Trump, she’s out as the CBS anchorwoman. CNN. This is what their critics say, covering Trump in a normal fashion. I heard a former CNN guy, he was their media guy, in an interview in a podcast, say that CNN appears to be ready to give Trump a chance to govern. And he said that like it was a bad thing. This is how these people think. They’re so delusional, they don’t want to recognize the normalcy of the majority of Americans saying, this is what we want. And to the malcontents and the leftists and the Democrats and the Trump haters, they’re screaming, but no one’s listening to them anymore. But here’s what CNN sounds like today. Talk about a change, a sea change. Here’s the great Scott Jennings.
SPEAKER 03 :
If our entire economy is underpinned by people who are rapists and murderers and commit other violent acts, then we’ve got a whole other set of issues going on in the economy that we ought to talk about today. I mean, people just aren’t buying that argument. So the populations that they are starting with are violent, criminal, illegal aliens. Then they also have a million and a half people who have existing, fully adjudicated, orders. And beyond that, I would just point out that if you came to this country illegally, you’re already a criminal, illegal immigrant. You’ve already broken our laws, even if you haven’t been arrested yet or charged with it. If you’re here illegally, if you broke our laws, then you’re going to be targeted. Now, maybe you’re not going to be a top priority today because there’s other more dangerous people here. But we cannot send a message that, well, some illegal immigration is OK. And that’s been the problem of the last four years. Basically, Biden and Harris were like, just get here and it’ll probably work out for you. That is no longer the communication strategy of the U.S. government. The strategy is don’t try us. Whether you’re the president of Colombia or somebody who just walked across the border illegally, do not try us. It is not going to work out for you, period.
SPEAKER 13 :
Don’t mess with us. There’s a new sheriff in town. And it’s full steam ahead. And it’s nothing but winning, winning, winning. I want to read a list to you. And it’s kind of a lengthy list. But I want to put this in perspective. There’s a site or a social media influencer who goes by Insurrection Barbie on X. I’m going to read… What Insurrection Barbie wrote was the recap of Trump’s first week in office for the second term. It will blow your mind. Welcome aboard. It’s the final Monday of January, last week of the year. We’ve got a lot to cover here in the Relief Factor studios. One phone number does it all for you. 800-655-MIKE. Text or call. I want to put your voice front and center as we reflect on the beginning of another historic, epic week of the Trump presidency. 800-655-6453. Wait till you hear… The Trump Week 1 Recap. I’m going to read it word for word. It’ll take a little bit, and it’s only been one week. You’re going to love this list, I promise. Coming up. You know, there’s a cross that Mike Lindell of MyPillow wears around his neck. And for years, people have said, Mike, can we get that cross? And so I’m real proud to share with you that MyPillow is now offering the MyCross necklace. SPEAKER 10 :
Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 13 :
Joel Pollack is Breitbart News senior editor at large, and he was in the room where it happened, where President Trump schooled the Los Angeles officials about wildfire response. Joel, of course, is one of Breitbart’s most prolific writers, and we appreciate his work very much. And Joel, great to welcome you back to the Mike Gallagher Show. I know you’re running around, you’re outside on your phone, and we’re grateful you could spend a few minutes with us. How you been?
SPEAKER 15 :
I’m OK. I’m here in the Pacific Palisades. You can see the wreckage behind me. This is my neighborhood or what’s left of it. And unfortunately, these homes did not make it. My house about 300 yards behind me is still standing. It’s one of the only ones. But you can see this was somebody’s dream home. Picket fence behind me, some chimneys, maybe a barbecue grill and some ceramic pots survived. That’s about it.
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, I mean, it’s just heartbreaking. And, of course, President Trump also focused on North Carolina Friday as well. And there’s this entire debate, and I know you’ve written about it, you know, been very prolific in what role the federal government should play in coming to the assistance of people like people in your neighborhood, like in the Pacific Palisades. I want to play a clip for you that demonstrates the arrogance of the mainstream media, and nobody knows that better than you do. But let’s listen to Margaret Brennan. I saw somebody react to this clip that her suggestion that southern states are too stupid to know how to deal with natural disasters if it wasn’t for FEMA might be the most elitist crap, he writes, I’ve ever heard. I love this post. He said, I’ll take a redneck with a tractor over FEMA all day long. Just ask anyone in western North Carolina. I want to play this clip for you, Joel, and get your reaction.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, FEMA has specialized expertise that some of these states just don’t have in their arsenal. And how will states who are lower income states, the Mississippis, the Kentuckys, the Alabamas, be able to do this for themselves without federal help?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, the president, to be clear, is not saying we’re going to leave anybody behind. He’s saying that in the way that we administer these resources, some of which is coming from the federal level, some of which is coming from the state level, we’ve got to get the bureaucrats out of the way and get the aid to the people who need it most.
SPEAKER 13 :
Now, Joel, obviously we’re not talking about Southern California in that clip, but it’s the same principle in terms of what role the federal government should have in sort of conjunction with local entities like Los Angeles County or California. What do you think of that exchange where she suggested that states just can’t do it without FEMA?
SPEAKER 15 :
You know, that’s hilarious to me because… First of all, she rattles off the list of states as if merely saying the names of these states is enough of an argument. It’s just the elite condescension that we’ve unfortunately come to expect from the media. Look, I’m here in California, and I don’t think FEMA really knows what they’re supposed to do here. There are federal agencies that have specific expertise in a couple of areas. So the EPA, for example, is checking every single home site here because The electric cars that we are mandated to buy starting in 2035 here in California turn out to be hazardous when they burn. The lithium ion batteries create hazardous waste. So you have a federal EV mandate. So I guess a federal agency has to solve the problem that a federal agency created. And they’ve got to come in and check the hazardous waste. And then you’ve got the Army Corps of Engineers, which wants to come in and clean out these locks, do the debris removal. I guess they have expertise in doing that, although they say it’s going to take them 18 months. A lot of the contractors here say they can do it in weeks instead of a year and a half. So a lot of this is just federal agencies coming in where they have some kind of federal authority, sometimes fixing their own problems that they created. It doesn’t make them experts in anything except the problem itself. I think that the local people are raring to go. As you heard in the town hall meeting with President Trump, homeowners, property owners want to get in here, clear out their lots and start building right now.
SPEAKER 13 :
Well, Joel, let’s talk about Trump’s willingness to travel to Southern California, you know, four or five days into his term. I mean, they were begging Biden to show up in Palestine, Ohio. They were begging Biden to show that he cared about people who’ve been devastated by something like wildfires. Give us your takeaway of being in that room and watching President Trump interact with local and state officials. I mean, there he was, you know, Gavin Newsom’s waiting for him on the tarmac. I mean, how how how dare they suggest that he wants to leave anybody behind?
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, you know, I’m glad you mentioned East Palestine, because one of the reasons Biden didn’t go there is that he knew that eastern Ohio was not Biden country. OK, he likes to talk about being from Pennsylvania, but that part of the world does not vote for Joe Biden. It doesn’t vote for Democrats anymore. And so he didn’t want to go there. Whereas Donald Trump went not only to western North Carolina, which is definitely Trump country. But he came here, and this is Kamala Harris country, Hillary Clinton country, Barack Obama country. He came out here, and I might have been the only resident in that town hall who actually voted for Trump. I think most of my neighbors voted Democratic. And he came out here because he’s president of all the people. But also, I think what happened among my neighbors was they saw that he was fighting for them. against the state and local officials who wanted to give all kinds of excuses as to why these homeowners couldn’t get back and rebuild. And so I don’t know if that means they’re going to change their votes. Right now, I don’t really care. I just want to see them get the help they need. But I do think it was eye-opening for them to see how hard he was fighting for them, people who never voted for him, let’s say, against these state and local officials that they elected. I do think there’s a moment, there’s a reckoning happening right now in California where people are realizing, that we focused on everything else except government. The Democratic Party has offered us identity politics and all kinds of social issues. They have not delivered better performance. And you see it in emergencies like these. So I do think the president achieved a lot by coming to an area that is a deep blue area. This is not the most conservative, excuse me, not the most liberal part of L.A. This part of L.A. did vote for Rick Caruso, who’s a former Republican, left of center Democrat for mayor, not left wing Karen Bass. But it is still overwhelmingly a Democratic area, although we do have some conservatives here. And I think it took political courage for him to be here. And I think it did paint some hearts and minds.
SPEAKER 13 :
We’re joined by Joel Pollack, Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large. If you’re watching on Salem News Channel, you see the devastation of the Pacific Palisades neighborhood behind him. Thank goodness your house was saved, but of course many were not. Joel, you wrote a book recently. The agenda, what Trump should do in his first 100 days, it’s available wherever books are sold. When you were putting this book together, did you envision that week one would have been the epic history-making week that we’ve experienced? I mean, it’s like drinking out of a fire hose. Even you probably didn’t see this coming.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, you know, when I wrote the book, I used that standard that we use to measure presidents, which is the first 100 days. And that really comes to us from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the first 100 days of his administration when he launched the New Deal. And that was considered a rapid sprint to start what was then a poor, firm presidency. I think we have to change the benchmark. It has to be the first week. I think Donald Trump did almost everything in my book The first three or four days of his presidency, there are still a few things left to do. But I was blown away by how much he did. I suggested when I was talking about the book last summer that he should launch about 200 executive orders. He did 118 on the first day alone. So reading my book, but also it’s a new standard. He has set a new standard for governance. And notice how little resistance there is this time around, because a lot of what he’s doing is just common sense.
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s a lot different this time around. I hope everybody gets their hands on your book. And, Joel, we’re praying for your neighbors and your community, and you keep fighting the good fight. We appreciate your work very much, and I know our audience appreciates you taking time out of your day to join us here on The Mike Gallagher Show. All the best, Joel.
SPEAKER 15 :
Thanks. And, you know, you can see the conditions here are tough. I apologize for the wind that’s shaking.
SPEAKER 13 :
No, no, it’s perfect. No, I’m glad we got to see it. Yeah. Hang in there. Thanks, Joe Pollack, Breitbart News, Senior Editor-at-Large. Thanks, Joe.
SPEAKER 02 :

SPEAKER 10 :
Mike Gallagher. Every day, Mike visits with Mark Davis, morning host on 660 AM, The Answer in Dallas. Here’s today’s M&M experience.
SPEAKER 12 :
Alvin and the Chipmunks. This was a major player in the cartoon world, and it was the brainchild of, and the vocal work of, David Seville, which was a stage name. Dave Seville, that’s it. Ross Bagdasarian. Ross Bagdasarian, born this date, 1919. And you know how he did it? He went into a recording studio, recorded himself in harmony, three tracks, and then just sped it up. And the great Patton Oswalt said that what he would do as a kid is get Alvin and the Chipmunks records and slow them down so that the Chipmunks themselves just sounded like normal people singing. But David Saville sounded like this. demon from the ninth level. Simon! Oh, gosh. So, hey, how was your weekend?
SPEAKER 13 :
Oh, boy. Well, I’m just trying to recover from the week. I mean… I saw a meme on social media. Remember the famous Lucy and Ethel scene on the conveyor belt when they were trying to keep up with the chocolates? That was us trying to keep up with Donald Trump first week. I mean, that’s us trying to keep up. You know, I think starting from now on, we’re going to have to remember on Monday, we’re going to have to go back to like… Friday to catch up to where we are.
SPEAKER 12 :
Like today.
SPEAKER 13 :
Hank Seth was Friday night, right? Right. And a fascinating thing happened. I tweeted out my dismay over Mitch McConnell and Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski. Isn’t it funny how the… Isn’t it funny how the algorithms work on social media? So I just pointed out one day Kentucky will have a senator who actually represents their interests because Kentucky deserves better than Mitch McConnell.
SPEAKER 12 :
And Kentucky’s a total Trump country, and there was McConnell, one of the votes against Texas.
SPEAKER 13 :
McConnell, who voted, you know, oh, I don’t know, for Lloyd Austin. Uh-huh. He voted in favor of Ketanji Brown Jackson. Uh-huh. But Pete Hegseth, that’s a bridge too far for him? Anyway, the great Dan Bongino retweeted my comment and this thing took off like a rocket. I’ve got almost 300,000 views on that little post I made. Of course, he’s got like 9 million followers. But it’s kind of cool the way that works. And you’ve had that happen before where people have reposted your comments. and then it takes off. But look, it’s disgusting. I don’t understand. Did you see the video of Mitch waddling over and shaking hands with the Democrats after he voted no on Pete Hegseth? I mean, come on. What’s with these guys? Is this just a I guess it’s a blank you to Donald Trump.
SPEAKER 12 :
Of course it is. It is obstructionism on purpose. And Lisa Murkowski up in Alaska should also be ashamed of herself. Alaska is Trump country. Do you carve out a smidge of forgiveness, understanding? Susan Collins is from Maine. I’m glad to have her rather than any Democrat from Maine. But Kamala did win Maine. Susan Harris… Susan Collins is… vote. Many of them may not have been thrilled with Higgs. And so do we have a carve out for her or doggone it? Because this is where I am. You’re a Republican. You might not like it, but Trump won. He’s a president of your party. This is who he wants. There is no reason to deny. No reason. Oh, the drinking of this in the past. Irrelevant. Done. So what’s your thought on Senator?
SPEAKER 13 :
Just don’t call yourself a Republican then. Just don’t call yourself a conservative. Don’t pretend to be a member of a party that utterly rejects you caucusing with Democrats over and over and over again. Would Susan Collins win in Maine if she ran as a Democrat? Would Lisa Murkowski win in Alaska if she ran as a Democrat? And so here’s the key with these states. The reason these women are still in power, it’s real simple, ranked choice voting. That’s all it’s about. They don’t run elections normally. In a normal way in those states. They have this stupid ranked choice voting, this complicated, convoluted system where it’s the top few and then the one gets eliminated, blah, blah, blah. That’s the only reason they’re in there. I guess the voters see them time and time again as the lesser of many evils. You know, I’m so riveted by the way the media has done this complete pivot on the way they’re covering Trump. And it’s not going unnoticed. I heard a little bit of a podcast this morning from a guy who used to be on CNN, Oliver Darcy. And he left CNN. He was their media analyst guy, wasn’t he? Right. And he was ripping them constantly. And they have that work out for him. So now he’s now he’s doing his own thing and he’s got his own. God bless him. I don’t care, you know. And so but he gave an interview to a podcast. It’s just the I forget. Justin, what podcast was it in the news podcast? Or I don’t know what it was.
SPEAKER 12 :
But anyway, it is John Solomon.
SPEAKER 13 :
No, it wasn’t Solomon. It was a mainstream media podcast. Anyway, he made the comment, he was expressing dismay at how the CNN of today isn’t the CNN of 2016. And he was complaining about it. Make no mistake, this guy hates Trump, frankly hates CNN for normalizing Trump. That’s his big thing. That’s the thing these guys go down. They go down this path of you can’t normalize Trump. Right. And you know what he said in the interview that just almost wrecked the car. I’m listening to him in the car, and he says, it’s almost as if… The new management and the new ownership of CNN, because they’ve had an ownership change and they’ve got a new manager. I think Mark Thompson used to be, what’s his name, Zucker, right? Jeff Zucker. Now they’ve got a new management. They’ve got new management. He said, and I quote, it’s almost as if they want to let the guy govern this time. he actually said it he said it out loud mark i couldn’t believe it i mean i i and i rewound it because i thought did he actually say it now did he mean that did it was it a freudian slip i mean i think that’s their problem they can’t believe that anybody in the media is going to let trump actually govern as president and this is what the american people i think the management of CNN is saying, look, this guy won big. This guy, we’re not gonna do ourselves any favor just being the constant, you know, thorn in his side and we’re ripping him and we’re, you know, let him govern. And this Oliver Darcy guy was actually complaining about it. That’s how the, you gotta get into their psyche. That’s their mindset. They’re the ones that are sort of normalizing the weaponization of a media or a justice department. Right. in order to try to keep him from governing.
SPEAKER 12 :
They don’t want to let him govern. They remember 2016 when Trump won, inaugurated in 2017, and then impeachments and Russia, Russia, Russia, and just everything mobilized to stop him. And it’s just not happening this time. Those people, those voices of contrarianism have just been shunted off to the side. They have been marginalized. And now the CNN, which we’re talking about, now employs one of the best conservative analysts in the business, Scott Jennings. And every couple of days, they have their data analyst, a guy named Harry Enten. Did you hear him over the weekend? I sure did. America is loving what Trump is doing by large margins.
SPEAKER 13 :
And the no-name female anchor was there saying, well, now, wait a minute, wait a minute. Trump hasn’t changed at all. And that’s true. He hasn’t. The American people’s response to him has changed. Largely because the media is pivoting.
SPEAKER 12 :
Quick pause. Trump has not changed. Okay, his heart, his spine, his desires, his agenda, totally right. But I would suggest to you that Trump 2.0, is this him changing or just getting smarter? I would suggest the change, whatever you want to call it, is he comes in no longer a neophyte, no longer blind to the ways of Washington. He is so much smarter, so much more strategic. This team that’s making its way into power is so much better, and we’re not going to have – Quite frankly, the clusters that we had in 2017 and 18.
SPEAKER 13 :
Yeah, I mean, I think it’s a little bit of a moot point. I don’t think he’s changed. I think he’s got the experience now of another term under his belt. And he’s surrounded himself with people who are not. Now they know that the John Kellys and the John Boltons of the world. Yeah. are only looking to advance themselves. They wanted a brief taste. They wanted a seat at the table for a few minutes, and then they wanted to go off and write a book and trash him. The Scaramucci’s, exactly. Right, all these people that are just… The Omarosa’s, whatever. And there was, I think, this time around, a different standard, and we’re going to look for people who are loyal. We’re going to look for the Pete Hegseths. Incidentally, this is going to be a fun week, too. RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, Kash Patel.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah. That’s all this week. I heard somebody say this morning, if Hegseth made it, they’re all going to make it. I think that probably is true.
SPEAKER 13 :
My prediction is Tulsi is going to have the hardest time of all. I think they’ve got the sharp knives out for Tulsi Gabbard. And, you know, let’s face it, if you’re a rock-ribbed conservative, she’s not. She’s just not. But we’ll see. Look, by the way, quick note about John Bolton. I want to pick your brain on this. So Trump announced among the 93,000 announcements last week and all the executive orders and all of his visits. And he’s in North Carolina. He’s in L.A. and he’s in Vegas. He’s hanging out at the craps tables in Vegas with everybody cheering and USA, USA. I mean, it’s staggering this week. I still can’t get over it. This is like a great, delicious movie. But one of the things he revealed was he’s pulling the security for people like Mike Pompeo and John Bolton. Now, John Bolton has been listed as a target by Iran for the role that Bolton played when he was national security advisor. And Trump is getting some interesting pushback from some good people. I like Tom Cotton a lot. And Tom Cotton’s like, I really wish the president would revisit this. I don’t know. I struggle with this. There’s a logical question. How many years does a John Bolton get taxpayer funded security? Mike Pompeo, too.
SPEAKER 12 :
There was an aid to Mike Pompeo, like Mike Pompeo’s briefcase holder guy got protection. I mean, the Secret Service is overwhelmed as it is. So part of me is OK on dialing this back. I don’t want John Bolton is an annoying slut. I don’t want him to get killed.
SPEAKER 13 :
I mean, what a mess that would be if Iran could hurt him or kill him, Trump gets blamed, then Iran has an – I mean, then we’ve got a real mess on our hands, not to mention the fact that nothing should happen to any of our elected officials even when we think they’re a slug. Correct. You know, and I will tell you I’m troubled by this. I kind of wish – and look, knowing Trump, look what he does, though. He is capable of turning things around, too. I think there was, I saw J.D. Vance made an announcement that one of the early executive orders, what was it about? They completely reversed it. Doggone, I’m drawing a blank. It was something to do with, it wasn’t protection. Doggone it. I’m blanking out on what it was. Maybe somebody on the text line will remind me. 800-655-6453. But there was something that right away they were called out on and J.D. Vance said, you know what? You’re right. We’re going to reverse that. We’re going to change it. So he’s capable of revisiting. He’s not going to be all totally invested. I just… Let’s face it. The personal protection for two or three people isn’t going to break the bank. And I just don’t like the way it looked. I don’t I don’t I don’t like it.
SPEAKER 12 :
I had it was partially tongue in cheek and I’m being snarky. Admittedly, I’d said that. Listen, hey, John, relax. Like most of Americans, Iran has forgotten that you were ever born. Yeah, which I think is largely true. But does this put Bolton back on Iranian radar where they would try to take him out to make Trump look bad?
SPEAKER 13 :
Right. That’s what I worry about. And they have long memories. Look, these terrorists, they don’t, they’ll wait a long time. They’ll wait a very, look at the time they took between the first World Trade Center attack and the second World Trade Center attack. By the way, J.D. Vance with Margaret Brennan yesterday. Oh, my gosh. I mean, that poor woman’s having a bad week because they fired her, right? She’s out as the – was she – wait a minute. Who – am I getting them mixed up? I get them mixed up. Yeah, Mark, who’s the anchor on CBS? Nora O’Donnell.
SPEAKER 12 :
She was the anchor of their evening newscast, I want to say. Right. Now, who’s taking over tonight? like I pay attention to the CBS.
SPEAKER 13 :
I don’t even know who anchors the evening news anymore.
SPEAKER 12 :
You know, David Muir, you know, Lester Holt, there’s ABC, NBC. They’ve been around forever, but CBS is like a revolving door.
SPEAKER 13 :
I don’t even know. It was, thank you, Texas. It was the Tuskegee Airmen issue. So one of Trump’s executive orders over DEI suggested that they would not be teaching about the Tuskegee Airmen. And and that was going to come off the list. And then J.D. Vance and Trump said, you’re right. No, absolutely not. We’re reversing that because and that was it was Alabama that vital history. But, I mean, they can do that. He’s capable of doing it. But look at the list. I mean, Mark, just last week. Can I do a quiz in our final 30 seconds? Trump won. Week one. Immigration. National emergency at the southern border. Thousands of troops deployed. Construction. Pardons. Pardons pro-lifers. Pardons January Sixers. Signed EOs directed a ban on weaponization of government. Banned censorship of free speech. Directed investigators. I mean, there’s a list here. It was Insurrection Barbie.
SPEAKER 12 :
It’s seven pages long for week one. People used to measure a president’s first hundred days. Now they’re going to measure the first five. The next few presidents, like, how did he do in his first week? This man gives zero blanks.
SPEAKER 13 :
Don’t mess with him. Daddy is home and he’s got the belt off. Daddy’s got the belt in his hand. He’s ready for the next four years and I am too and you are as well.
SPEAKER 11 :
We are ready. Mike is ready to go. As soon as we’re done. 10 o’clock right here on 660 AM The Answer.
