(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the first new U.S. oil refinery built in half a century will be constructed in Brownsville, Texas, calling the project a historic milestone for American energy independence.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the facility—planned for the Port of Brownsville—will be developed by America First Refining with a major investment from India’s largest privately held energy company, Reliance.
Trump described the refinery project as a $300 billion deal, which he called the largest investment of its kind in U.S. history.
“This is a massive win for American workers, energy, and the great people of South Texas,” Trump wrote, adding that the project reflects a return to “real energy dominance.”
According to the president, the refinery will help fuel U.S. markets, strengthen national security, and expand America’s ability to export energy globally. The administration also credited its America First economic policies—including streamlined permitting and tax reductions—for attracting the investment.
The new refinery is expected to create thousands of jobs and generate billions of dollars in economic impact across South Texas. Trump also said the facility is designed to be the “cleanest refinery in the world.”
Supporters say the project represents a major step toward strengthening U.S. energy independence while boosting domestic manufacturing and economic growth.
