Tanner’s Tumultuous NFL Picks – Week 8!

Tanner's Record: 56-49!

Well, well, well the picks keep flowing. Once we get farther into the season, I (probably so many others), finally am able to pick a majority of the games correctly. We went 10-5 for Week 7. The Broncos killed the Saints, which was great to see the Broncos score 30+. The Lions versus Vikings game was great as well as the Texans at Packers. The Seahawks at Falcons was shocking to see a team that had lost three straight in Seattle be able to dismantle a red-hot Falcons team.

The main problem I had with this week, is the injuries. Brandon Aiyuk went out for the year, and so did Chris Godwin. Todd Bowles is at fault for Godwin’s injury putting him in the game down 10 with a minute to go. That is beyond messed up for a coach.

Anyways, the safer they make the NFL the more stars are getting injured. It is really a shame. Not only does this irritate me for the player’s sake, but also in one of my fantasy leagues, four of my top five picks are injured (Christian McCaffery, Isaiah Pacheco, Nico Collins, and Brandon Aiyuk).

And, think of all the other stars, Mike Evans, Justin Jefferson, Joey Bosa, Adam Thielen, Derrick Brown, Rashee Rice, Trent Brown, Myles Garrett, DeShuan Watson and so many more. Are the players just soft now?

Let’s see what we like for Week 8 of the NFL:

Vikings (-3) @ Rams: Thurs. 6:15p – I am shocked The Vikings are only three-point favorites. The only player the Vikings are missing is T.J. Hockenson. The Rams are beat up on the O-line and at the receiver position so it is essentially the Matthew Stafford and Kyren Williams show. Vikings win after their first loss, 24-20

hot-take

Eagles @ Bengals (-2.5): Sun. 11:00a – This will hopefully be a decent game.

The Eagles seem to rely heavily on Saquon Barkley. And why would you not, but once the run game is halted, Hurts and the receivers have to be on the same page. The Bengals are starting to put together some wins, but those early losses don’t help.

The Bengals defense is awful so I think the Eagles will have their way on offense. Eagles win 27-24

Ravens (-9) @ Browns: Sun. 11:00a – The Browns should just hope they get in a draft position to select the quarterback they want out of this draft. Jameis Winston will bring new life to the offense, but they can’t turn the season around.

The Ravens are so back. After starting 0-2 they can’t seem to lose. The defense does need to tighten up though. They have had too many games where the defense has given up 25+. Ravens win 31-20

Titans @ Lions (-11): Sun. 11:00a – The Titans are awful, and the Lions are great.

Not much more needs to be said other than Lions by a million. Lions win 34-17

Cardinals @ Dolphins (-3): Sun. 11:00a – I believe Tua is back. Which is… scary. If he gets another concussion the NFL world might burn.

If he plays and seamlessly rotates into the team, they should win. However, he has been out since Week 3, and that is quite some time out of football.

I’m sure the whole team is ecstatic he is back, but this offseason the Dolphins may want to look into a quality back-up because who knows how long he will last. Dolphins win 27-23

Jets (-7) @ Patriots: Sun. 11:00a

The Jets are not good.

Their defense was supposed to be as good as it’s been the last two seasons but the Steelers with Russell Wilson, in his first game this season, destroyed that defense.

And, Aaron Rodgers — what happened?? He has seven interceptions to 10 touchdowns in seven games. And, he has Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams, Allen Lazard, and now Davante Adams and he is still this bad.

The notion that he would come in and change life, looks pretty bleak at this time. Jets should win this 28-14

Falcons (-2.5) @ Buccaneers: Sun. 11:00a – Their first matchup was a great primetime game with the Falcons winning 36-30.

Packers (-4.5) @ Jaguars: Sun. 11:00a – The Packers should win this game. The Jaguars are just not good this year. They spent their first-round pick on Brian Thomas, signed Gabe Davis to a big contract, and still have Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, and Travis Etienne.

With plenty of weapons, you would think they could put up 25+ points a game, but that hasn’t happened. The Packers defense and offense are solid. Packers win 27-20

Colts @ Texans (-6): Sun. 11:00a – The Texans should win this game. Anthony Richardson of the Colts have not been as exhilarating as he was in the those few games last year. The Colts’ secondary is a major concern. Texans still have weapons even with Nico Collins is out. Texans win 28-21

Saints @ Chargers (-7): Sun. 2:05p – I hope the Chargers can win this game. After scoring five field goals against the loss to the Cardinals. The Chargers offense needs another receiver. D.J. Chark and Quintin Johnston were out. Herbert threw for his season-high of 349 yards, but no touchdowns. The Saints are very depleted, so the Chargers should win and hopefully score a touchdown. Chargers win 24-20

Bills (-3) @ Seahawks: Sun. 2:05p- This will be a great game hopefully. It’s intriguing to see some of the best weekly matchups end in blowouts. Seahawks vs Falcons, Bills vs Ravens, and some other games have been blowouts when everyone thought they would be great matchups. D.K. Metcalf may be out for the Seahawks, which may play a major role. Bills win 30-25

Panthers @ Broncos (-9): Sun. 2:25p – The Panthers are not good, and have Bryce Young back at quarterback. I hope he can turn his career around, such a good Christian man in a bad situation.

The Broncos are rolling, and Bo Nix looks better every week. The Broncos’ defense is on fire as well. Broncos win 27-17

Chiefs (-10) @ Raiders: Sun. 2:25p – The Raiders are a dumpster fire, but when aren’t they?

The Chiefs will win this game and have an interesting rivalry with the Raiders. The Raiders disrespected the Chiefs last year by stomping on their logo, and then blew out the Raiders. Before this season started, some Raiders’ players made a Kermit the Frog joke about Patrick Mahomes’ voice. I think the Chiefs remembered that and will put a whoopin’ on the Raiders. Chiefs win 35-17

Bears (-2.5) @ Commanders: Sun. 2:25pJayden Daniels is day-to-day so I assume he will sit this game out.

Marcus Mariota looked decent for coming in once Daniels was hurt last week. Bears win 25-23

Cowboys @ 49ers (-4.5): Sun. 6:20p – The Cowboys won’t make the playoffs and the 49ers need to win their division it seems to get in. The 49ers are now without their three main weapons on offense (McCaffery, Aiyuk, Deebo). The Cowboys should make a move for a veteran wide receiver, just to give the offense more help.

The 49ers have the Cowboys number, 49ers win in a close game 24-21

Giants @ Steelers (-6.5): Mon. 6:15p – The Steelers should win and cover, but Malik Nabers is back for the Giants. He is a beast and the sole focal point of the Giants’ offense. The Steelers offense struggled with Fields at times, but once Russell Wilson had a few drives versus the Jets he looked like Russ from five years ago. Wilson also has a lot to prove so he seems to be on a redemption campaign. Steelers win 30-19

NO BYES THIS WEEK!
