If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And remember, it’s never compassionate to take other people’s stuff, whether or not it’s their rights, their property, freedom, livelihoods, opportunities, or lives. And force can be a weapon, obviously, but policy, unpredictable and excessive taxation, fear, coercion, government-induced inflation, the World Economic Forum’s agenda that plays out in the globalist elites agenda, United Nations, what you’re seeing down here by the extremists that are controlling the Colorado State Legislature. And it’s important to realize the Democrat Party of today is not the Democrat Party of JFK or your grandparents. It is a radical activist. It has a communist agenda. I know that’s strong words to say, but it’s true. And that is where government controls everything. So socialism is government controls everything and still gives a semblance of people owning something. Communism is the government owns everything. There’s not much of a difference between the two. And you’re seeing that play out down here at the Colorado State Legislature. with this governor. He is not a middle-of-the-road guy. He is an extremist. And then they use land use codes. And again, this goes down even to the local levels. Land use codes, zoning regulations, forest fees, conservation easements, national monument designations, all of these things are controlling property. And owning property is inherent in the American idea. And so whenever you have an assault upon property, whether or not it’s physical property or intangible property, what you think, what you create, what you do, then we are not a free society, and we’re realizing this. And so remember, if something’s a good idea, you should not have to have force to implement it. We focus on the issues and the people pushing the issues, but we really work hard to stay out of the personalities here on the show. So that is what we’re all about, the word of the day. Let’s get over here to that. It is cupidity, and I pulled it because yesterday, thank you to Jenny, the word of the day was avarice, which was this wanting wealth, I would say, avarice, doing a variety of things to get wealth. But cupidity is excessive desire, especially for wealth, covetous or avarice. And again, the socialist communist idea is based on envy. not on what can I do? What can I, what can I create? What can, how can I be my best? And if you, if you work, strive for excellence, ultimately you will be a success. However, this envy, this excessive, and I think stupidity would fall into that, this excessive desire for wealth instead of creating something it’s, It’s the desire for wealth. If you create something that other people value, you will become wealthy. How you spell it is C-U-P-I-D-I-T-Y, cupidity. Our quote of the day, and I switched this around. I thought I was going to have this at the end of the show, but it’s by Roger Williams, born in 1603, died in 1683. He was an English-born New England Puritan minister, theologian, and author who founded Providence Plantations, which became the colony of Rhode Island and later the state of Rhode Island. He was a staunch advocate for religious freedom, separation of church and state, and fair dealings with Native Americans. And I switched this around because I wanted to chat about it just a little bit. He said, that cannot be a true religion which needs carnal weapons to uphold it. And let’s just go to the whole LGBTQ plus agenda. This has become a religion, has a flag, has a belief system. And certainly if people do not believe in that belief system, then they are chastised. And it is truly a religion, but it’s based upon not on big ideas, but on carnal desires. And so all these years ago, Roger Williams said this. He said, that cannot be a true religion, which needs carnal weapons to uphold it. And so I find that that is pretty amazing that, again, things don’t change from one generation to another generation. Things just do not change. And let’s see here. I would really recommend that you check out and join the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. So yesterday, I spent a long, long time on getting our email for all of the legislators with all of the legislation that is proposed and scheduled for hearings. And there was 77 bills, I think, that are scheduled for hearing for this week. That is crazy. We don’t really need another law. There are some good ones out there. And I will mention one of those. But getting the email out, we took a position on 36 of those pieces of legislation at the Colorado Union’s taxpayers. And you will receive hours and hours and hours of analysis and work when you become a member of the Colorado Union of Taxpayers because you will receive that email as well that goes out to the legislators and the governor. And you will be very informed. You’ll know what’s happening down at the statehouse generally. And you can take action on some of these things that are going to be – heard for or scheduled for hearing. But I wanted to mention a really good one. And this is House Bill 25-1069, increased stakeholder participation. The sponsor is Representative Stephanie Luck, who is our Colorado Union of Taxpayers champion. And she said concerning increasing stakeholder participation in the lawmaking process through the early publishing of bills so that we know what is going on. And that is a great bill. And we have taken a yes position on that particular bill. And what we have said, I’ve got too many bills here, my friends. This is 69, our commentary. Okay. on this particular bill is this. It says, this adds transparency for the public to view proposed legislation and gives them a chance to voice opinions. The legislature presently produces far too many bills for the public to reasonably review and comment upon. This would allow more public input and might help call poor bills, most of them, before they become law. And so that’s a really good one. You might weigh in on that and say, Thank you to that particular bill. And this group that I get to work with regarding the board of the Colorado Union of Taxpayers is truly an amazing group of people. And let’s see, I had that list here. And here we go. Let me get to that. I must have erased that off. I can probably do it by memory, but I’m not going to trust myself on that. You know, Kevin, I’ve got this great little system where I can come in directly into the studio board, but yesterday and today, It is not working, and it saves me a lot of time. I can be more efficient normally if I can broadcast from home. One of our listeners said, it sounds like Kim needs to go back to the office, though, because, I don’t know, this has not been working the way we wanted. So I’m now on the line. So welcome. It’s great to have you.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, it’s great being with you and our regular check-in on how the legislature is going and other things around. So let’s get after it.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, let’s get after it. First and foremost, on the national level, I just had seen a headline that Donald Trump, he is not messing around, and he is actually freezing all federal grants and loans. And he is also, he put, and Pete Hexeth in the Department of Veterans Affairs places 60 DEI employees on leave, and their salaries are a total of $8 million. So they are not messing around, are they?
SPEAKER 07 :
No, I mean, it is so refreshing to watch the president actually act like a president, especially after four years of who knows who was in charge of what. I mean, they were governing, but they weren’t doing it very transparently. And the guy at the top certainly wasn’t calling the shots. But Donald Trump. has proven that he’s up to this job and he’s ready to hit the ground running. And, I mean, he has poured more on to his presidency in these first, what, it’s just been a week. I know. And it feels like he’s been right in the middle of things. So I’m very encouraged by what I see.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, and what about – making these changes, for example, freezing all of these grants and loans, will that affect our economy, do you think? Because there is so much money that’s been going out to those.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, yes and no. I mean, when you put the brakes on, it has some effect. And I’m sure that there will be some downside to this, but the upside is You know, what’s the biggest problem at the federal government level? They spend too much, and everything’s on automatic pilot, and that’s not just the entitlements like Social Security and Medicaid and things like that. It’s just this whole big machine is just rolling forward as if nothing can stop it. And I think Trump is taking the appropriate measures to say, no, let’s stop and look at this more carefully. Let’s analyze this stuff. I mean, he’s put a lot of controls on it that that are hopefully going to wipe out a lot of the DEI nonsense that’s been automatically pounded into so many programs. And, you know, the federal government, a lot of what they do is simply through grants and outside funding like that, and you’ve got to get a handle on it. I support what he’s doing. I believe that it’s the only way to turn this ship around.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, and the fact that he’s doing this right out of the box, he knows that he only really has a limited amount of time. We’ve got the election of 2026 is right around the corner with the House of Representatives. Of course, the Senate, there will be senators up for election as well. But he knows that he needs to have action immediately. What about this birthright citizenship thing? it’s amazing that he is biting that off, but it’s super important, and you’ve written about it in your Lundberg report, which people can find at kevinlundberg.com, and this is a pretty amazing thing that he’s going to bite that off as well.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, yes, and not is going to, but has. He has declared that that the federal government is to not recognize anybody born in this country as a citizen, but anyone born in this country that meets the requirements of the Constitution, which has to do with – I mean, I’ll just read it here in the 14th Amendment. All persons born or naturalized in the United States – and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. There’s this phrase, subject to the jurisdiction thereof. Now, why in the world did they put that in there? Was that to mean anything? Yes, it was to mean that they didn’t have the – allegiance or their parents didn’t have the allegiance to a foreign power. And somewhere in the last 100 years, that concept was lost. And we had what we call anchor babies. So you go into this, you know, you come to this country and your child is born here. And regardless of the parentage, that’s another U.S. citizen. Well, that’s been accepted as the standard, but if you drill down to what the 14th Amendment said, it didn’t establish citizenship automatically unless you, you know, if your parents were citizens of some other foreign power, you know, some other nation. And by Trump throwing this out front end and saying this is the what the policy is it i know and he knew that he was going to get a lot of legal challenge on that so let’s have it out i i um actually you mentioned my uh my newsletter where i brought the subject up i actually referred to a an article that john eastman wrote um and his title was uh birthright citizenship game on i think that’s how the title went And his point was, let’s get this out in the courts, because legally it needs to be clear and not just assumed, because a lot of people have been gaming the system. They simply come to create an anchor baby. That’s not what this is about. This is about people who are legitimately here as functioning citizens of having children and those children become citizens automatically because of who their parents are.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, how do you think this is going to work out then? Because you mentioned there are people that have – women that have come here to just have what’s called an anchor baby, and then we have the narrative then you can’t – Divide families. You can’t split families up. And so the implication, well, what’s happened then is then the mother and relatives all then are staying in the United States. And instead, I think that Donald Trump is going to deport them, yes, or potentially deport them.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I’d say potentially because, yes, this does need to be sorted out in the courts. There are legal scholars on both sides of this, but let’s go back to a little bit of history. Back in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century, you know, 1920s, 1930s, somewhere in that range, there was a lot of migrants from Mexico who came to work in this country. And then… when the policies changed and they were required to leave the country, those that had had children here were not considered U.S. citizens. That was the understood meaning of the 14th Amendment back then. And so this notion of an anchor baby is something that that, as I say, became a policy in the last 100 years. But prior to that, that just wasn’t the way it was done. There was one court case in, I think it was the 1890s, where parents who had permanent residency, their child was deemed to be a citizen, but it was… It didn’t open the floodgates to the anchor baby concept. It was a particular circumstance that the court said, OK, we’ll grant this. And there are some legal scholars that question whether they made the decision properly either. So what’s going to happen right now is what has happened, which is it was appealed to the courts. One federal judge. said, no, we have this policy that if you’re born here, you’re a citizen here, period. And now this needs to be challenged and dealt with. And the United States Supreme Court needs to sit down and ask this question, because this is the fundamental point. What does the Constitution say? And what does that what do those words actually mean? And it’s very clear. I just quoted it. All persons born are naturalized in the United States. and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. And I add that final one because oftentimes we ignore the fact that you are a citizen of the state in which you reside as well, and that’s kind of an important technical thing. We’re not discussing that right now, but I couldn’t resist adding that final point because I like to refer to citizens of the state of Colorado, not residents, but citizens, to distinguish between those who live here and are not citizens.
SPEAKER 15 :
That is such an important point. And as I was thinking about this, and I think maybe Eastman had mentioned this as well, but so foreign diplomats, if they are here and they have a baby here, that baby is not a citizen of the United States, right?
SPEAKER 07 :
Right. And now, just to point this out, the actual diplomats are not fully subject to the laws in this country either, because the way embassies work is the citizen of the country that they’re from, within their embassy, it’s sort of an extension of that country, if you will. So here’s a good example of even today how the concept of anchor babies is not a universal principle, because those people are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. Now, they are if they get in their car and they drive down the street and they They, you know, violate a traffic law. They can’t just speed with impunity. But it’s recognized that those individuals are not citizens, and their children are also not citizens of the United States. This is applying that same principle in a broader context of if people are here. And particularly, here’s where it’s really been abused. is not just somebody who comes to this country on a work visa or a travel visa or something like that. But this has been applied to people who have come here illegally. And that makes no sense at all. It just defies logic. And, of course, it’s a lot of the immigration and the border security issues that have been really significantly compromised by our country and by our country’s policies. Now, Donald Trump is saying, no, it’s kind of a restart. It’s a little bit on the first subject that we talked about on putting a stop to all of the grants to reevaluate. And I really think that that’s what Donald Trump was doing. And he was forcing the issue by simply stating that as the executive for the federal government, you were to not recognize anchor babies. And, yeah, it then facilitates the removal of those families who didn’t come here legally and who are in direct violation of federal law as a consequence. I think he had to do it to really press the point, and he had to do it on the front end of his – of his term in office to make sure that we can get to the very end of this process before he has to leave. Because he’s here for four years, and it’ll go fast.

And Kevin, one of our listeners, Jenny, said our founding father’s would have never allowed or expressed this kind of birthright citizenship. They knew that this would be a way to be taken over by a foreign enemy. And we really have seen an invasion under not just Biden, but the Biden-Harris administration. And it was even before Obama got into office. This was all getting set up, I think, in the 90s. And what they’ve done is they’ve taken the heart of of America, our heart for immigrants, our heart for refugees. And they have figured out a way to, and when I say they, I’m just going to say the globalists that have been in control of things. They figured out a way to use our heart for the refugee, for the immigrant to try to destroy our country. I know those are strong words, but I think ultimately that’s what they’ve been trying to do.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right. And it’s quite deceptive, too, because there’s another side to this. When you encourage illegal immigration, what you create within the culture is kind of a black market for people, including human trafficking, has a very, very dark side. And that’s another part of it that has has developed out of this loose policy of ignoring the laws for entry into this country in, you know, and you’re right, they pull up their heartstrings saying, oh, well, aren’t you looking after the well, you know, you should be looking after these poor people. Well, yeah, and the way you do that is you establish manageable, immigration policies and you control the flow of people in and out of your border, one, just for the simple protection of your population, because as people come across, they’re not all bad actors, but there are bad actors within there. And if you don’t have a very secure way of figuring out who’s coming into the country, you open yourself up to even terrorism and these gangs that have developed and the human trafficking that’s developed. And so my point to those people who are trying to say, well, isn’t it the compassionate way to allow everyone to come in? And my answer is no. Civil government is as its bottom line, exist to keep people from killing each other and from taking advantage of each other. And when you ignore the laws and you just allow a free-for-all at your borders, you’re asking for trouble for not only your population, but for those people entering the country as well. So, yeah, they play on our heartstrings, but they don’t do it. They do it deceptively. And And let me add this one other element. Okay, I was talking to a good friend of mine who’s a regular listener to this program who works with a lot of immigrants because she’s an interpreter, and she said, we’ve got to get our hands around this because it’s not a safe thing. It’s not just my analysis, but here’s a person who’s on a daily basis working with immigrants with Spanish-speaking people, which is a large part of the illegal aliens. And she understands the details that this isn’t good for anybody.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, it isn’t. And so I’m going to use this discussion as a segue into some of these bills that are scheduled for hearing this week. And we’ve got a really really egregious one, and that is Senate Bill 003. And it is regarding, really, it’s a Second Amendment question. And if you look at the sponsors, the prime sponsors are Julie Gonzalez, Democrat, Tom Sullivan, Democrat, both senators, and then Representative Andy Boesenecker and Representative Meg Froelich. Those are the main prime sponsors. But you’ve got most all of the Democrats, if not all of them, have signed on to this as well. And this is really to prevent everyday hardworking Coloradans to be able to keep and bear firearms to protect themselves against bad actors. It’s Senate Bill 25003, semi-automatic firearms and rapid-fire devices concerning prohibited activity involving semi-automatic firearms and in connection there with prohibiting the manufacture, distribution, transfer, sale, and purchase of specified semi-automatic firearms and classifying a device that increases the rate of fire of a semi-automatic firearm as a dangerous weapon. They just keep coming back. year after year with something to make it more difficult for us to protect ourselves. Yet, meanwhile, back at the ranch, the bad actors, they have firearms. So disarming the public, and this is also what tyrants do. This is what you’ve seen, Mao, Stalin, they disarm the populace. And then we’re kind of sitting ducks is what it is. So what’s your thoughts on this?
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, yeah, and this particular bill is with a very broad stroke, going after a lot of firearms that people legitimately have in their possession. Now, it doesn’t outright ban them from owning them what they own today, but if you ban the sale of, the manufacture of, you have taken a huge step towards simply taking it away. And here’s the next step I see coming down the pike, and that is we want to know what you have in firearms. We want you to register your firearm. And then it’s just a very quick little step for them to show up and say, and we’re going to take them. And that cannot be allowed. I agree with you wholeheartedly that that this is a part of that same, well, it defies common sense. I don’t know how else to put it. And fortunately, that’s becoming a bit of a phrase, that Donald Trump and his ideas are just applying good common sense. Well, if there are bad actors out there, good guys need to be able to defend themselves. And that’s what the second amendment has always been all about. And that’s why it’s called the second amendment. It is a very high priority in our bill of rights. And here we’ve got people like Sullivan and others who are, and I pick on him particularly because this has been his hobby horse that he has ridden. And, and it, I just, You know, it just grates on me when somebody like that steps in and they just keep pounding away at this false notion that somehow if we disarm honest, law-abiding citizens, we’ll all be safer. It’s the exact opposite. You know, we’re the most dangerous cities in the country, the ones with the biggest gun control laws.
SPEAKER 15 :
And so this is going to be heard today at 2 o’clock in one of the committees. I had it here. It got so many different things open here. Let’s see. And at the Senate Finance Committee at 2 o’clock today. And they just keep at it. They just keep at it. But let’s talk about some of the other bills at the Lundberg Report. You have good and bad bills. So what’s the next one you want to talk about?
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, well, actually, let me give you a little clarification. It’s State Veterans and Military Affairs. Oh, is it? Okay, thank you. Yeah, in the old Supreme Court chambers. But what are some of the other bad ones? Well, the list keeps growing. I’ve been trying to keep on top of every bill that’s coming down there, and a few were introduced yesterday that I haven’t been able to look at, so I may have missed one or two with my report right here, but But the – hang on. I clicked over to – over that one bill, and I lost my place.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, you’re looking for that. There is House Bill 25-1051 to repeal the recycled paper carryout bag fee and then – Ryan Gonzalez has one regarding, that’s House Bill 25-1074, changing the confinement standards for egg-laying hens right now. Eggs are so expensive, and so he’s got that one. So that’s a good bill.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, yeah, there’s some really good ones out there. And unfortunately, the way it’s going to work with this legislature is most of the good bills are going to go by the wayside because – They make too much common sense, actually. You know, let’s zero in on that one bill dealing with the chickens. Of course, this was a law that was put in place back in, what was it, 2019, I believe it was, that required that all chickens laying eggs in larger facilities, and that’s where most eggs are produced, have to be… open cage-free, basically. And a couple of things. There’s an unintended consequence that occurred because when they created this cage-free environment for these large, and these are flocks of over 3,000, I believe it is. Well, what do you have when you have 3,000 chickens circulating altogether? Well, if one of them gets sick, guess what? The other 2,999 probably get sick as well. And with this bird flu influenza flying around, most of the birds that come down with this are in these cage-free environments. So you put them in a cage separately, and the hens are actually safer, and the flocks – continue producing eggs, but you put them all together and they get sick and they have to be destroyed. Yeah. And that bill, it was House Bill 20, 1343, so 2020.
SPEAKER 15 :
And the expense of the egg producers to make these changes, it seems… they’ve already made these significant investments in this, but it still, I think, will bring the price of eggs down because we will be able to buy eggs from other states as well, and hopefully we’ll be able then to, our egg producers will be able to recoup those costs that were forced upon them, Kevin Lundberg. That’s the important thing for people to realize, forced upon them.
SPEAKER 07 :
That’s correct. And I was just pointing out that there are unintended consequences for these new requirements. Yes, it’s more expensive. I saw estimates that it’s maybe 20% more expensive in this cage-free environment. But then you compound that with the disease creation, and you haven’t done the chickens any good either. They did this out of this concern that chickens are being confined in terrible circumstances. And actually, the people who are producing these eggs through these flocks are not trying to persecute the chickens. They’re trying to protect them and to keep them in an environment where they can continue to live a productive life. And I have five chickens. So I’m not subject to these rules, but I am a very – I have to deal with those birds every day. And I can tell you that it’s really not a wonderful life being a chicken regardless. I mean, if we were to allow our chickens to – and we have them in a cage. Now it’s a cage for five. But we have to because we learned that if you let your chickens roam around where we’re at, the coyotes eat them. Well, that’s not a very kind way to treat a chicken either. No, it’s not. It’s simply absurd when the state steps in and says, we know better than what you can do in your personal and private affairs in your life, and so we’re going to dictate. And in this particular case, it has literally made eggs too expensive for far too many families who can’t afford to pay their property tax bill either, which is another thing that’s coming around on everybody’s doorstep right now. Yeah. So that’s a good deal.

Yeah. All these policies are making.
SPEAKER 07 :
Maybe they will.

Yeah. All these things are making life less affordable. And of course, then they talk about making life affordable, affordable housing, subsidized housing. So you’ve got good bills and bad bills in your Lundberg report and really a great analysis. Kevin Lundberg, what good bills, bad bills, what else you want people to know?

Well, one that came up this last week that looks kind of obscure and, you know, maybe not a big deal, that the title of it is concerning the public or the state treasurers. So the title is Treasurer’s Office. And it sounds kind of simple. But, in fact, people need to look at this one. It’s Senate Bill 25-081, Senate Bill 81 for this year. And what it is doing is it’s, well, it’s concerning public financing and in connection therewith establishing the building urgent infrastructure and leveraging dollars authority. That’s a mouthful. establishing the building urgent infrastructure and leveraging dollars authority. What it’s doing is it’s allowing the, the state treasurer to go borrow money without a vote of the people to create bonds for a wide range of topics, uh, It’s really an end-run-around-tabor in a big, big way. And I see this as being just a floodgate of spending that can occur by extending these municipal bonds, and municipal are tax-free bonds. So it actually gets the federal government to subsidize this money they’re going to go get. And there’s another little angle to this one, too. It’s a union sweetheart bill, because as I’m reading the bill, which is rather extensive, it looks like any project that is engaged in through this bonding system that they’re establishing is totally open-ended. There’s no limit on what can be borrowed. They require that union shops are the ones who will – benefit from it exclusively. I mean, this thing is just loaded. Senate Bill 81, bad, bad bill that really goes after Tabor and undercuts one of the last things that Tabor holds on to, which, well, they’ve undercut it with certificates of participation in the past as well, But this extends it out to other entities other than just enterprise systems within state government. So Senate Bill 81, bad, bad bill. There’s one that just crossed my desk right before we went on the air here, and that’s House Bill 1101 concerning state disbursement processes. And that is any time that they give money out to any entity, this bill wants to know the ethnicity of the leadership for that business or organization. And I’m scratching my head on that one. It sounds like they want to apply DEI standards to any dollars that the state hands out to anybody, right? Stay tuned on that because I haven’t had a chance to read the whole thing. But like most years that we see when the other party is in control, and that’s been too many years now, they just come up with incredible bad ideas that defy common sense, that make government bigger and our lives more miserable than in order to promote their woke ideas. So I’ll leave you with that happy note. Yeah.

It could be an excessive desire, especially for wealth, covetousness, or avarice, which was our word of the day yesterday. Or it could be a passionate desire for love, or number three, an eager or inordinate desire, especially for wealth, greed, or gain, or avarice. And, of course, I would say that the cupidity of many of our congressmen and women, particularly who comes to mind, is Nancy Pelosi in using their positions because they can do insider trading, which is crazy, though, because regular people would be put in jail for that. And that’s one of the things about the American idea is the law should be the same for everyone. So the cupidity of – Nancy Pelosi and her husband, and it’s just been an amazing thing to watch. And yesterday I reported that it was back in October. By that time last year, their portfolio was up, I think, 92% or 94%. That’s a pretty good return on investment for them. And so they certainly have significant cupidity. Our quote of the day is from Roger Williams. He was born in 1603, died in 1683. He was an English-born New England Puritan minister, theologian, and author. He founded Rhode Island, and he was a staunch advocate for religious freedom, separation of church and state, and fair dealings with the Native Americans. He said this. He said, then that cannot be a true religion which needs carnal weapons to uphold it. And I think this goes directly into the LGBTQ plus agenda. It’s focused, it has its own flag, it has its own religion. Of course, there’s different factions within that religion, just as there are in the Christian faith as well. But it’s focused on carnal desires, not these desires, not the things, working to achieve, to be the very best that we can be, to be thinking about big things. That’s why at the end of the show, And I said, think great thoughts. Focus on that, not on the carnal desire. So again, that cannot be a true religion, which needs carnal weapons to uphold it. And of course, you take that whole agenda then, and you push that out then into DEI, using all these government grants, all of this government money at the local, county, state, and level to push DEI, these salaries that have been going to a DEI, people pushing that agenda. And of course, Donald Trump is changing that as well. This was a headline, the Department of Veterans Affairs, which places 60 DEI employees on leave with salaries totaling more than $8 million. That’s $133,000 per employee. So using government money, paying healthy salaries to push an agenda, really focused on dividing us, focus on carnal desires. And again, Roger Williams stated that all that long ago. Very bad bill that is scheduled for hearing today, and that is, let’s see, it’s Senate Bill, I think it’s 003, and that is going to be heard today in committee, and that it’s a Second Amendment question, and really making it more and more difficult for everyday citizens Coloradans to protect ourselves against bad actors. That’s ultimately the bottom line on that. And again, I think that is Senate Bill 003. And this, let’s see, let’s see if I have our commentary on that. I’ll get that to you from the Colorado Union taxpayers. You’re probably in the last segment. But the show comes to you because of our sponsors, and I’m blessed to work with amazing people. And first and foremost, you were in Washington, D.C. for the inauguration. It seems like it was a long time ago. It was only eight days ago.

Yeah, it’s amazing, isn’t it? When you compare how much he’s done in seven days, it was an incredible experience. We did not get in to see a whole lot of anything, but just being in D.C. with lots of folks with common sense and hope and desire to make this country what it was and what it needs to be was just awesome.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, and I imagine even though – and I think – I actually personally think it was maybe divine providence that moved the inauguration inside. And the fact that then they were able to still have the parade, if you will – of course, not everybody could get in to see it at Capital One Arena. But just being in D.C. with all of these people had to be really, truly amazing.
SPEAKER 06 :
It was. It was. The energy was incredible. I will say it’s a different cold out there than it is here in Colorado. It was wicked bitter cold. But again, yeah, you hit the nail on the head. Being out there with other folks that care and want to make a difference and are there to support what we voted for, the mandate that we gave Trump, and just talking with folks from all around the country, I mean, it It was inspiring to know there’s a lot of folks, a lot of folks from all over our great country that want to do the right things, want to support the right things, and see, you know, the mandate come through. And it may have been, there may have been other reasons. The cold was certainly one of them to move everything inside.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, and to your point, when you get cold and you’re near bodies of water, that cold is bone-chilling for sure. So I think that it did make sense. And Mary had sent me a meme that said that with one fell swoop, Donald Trump basically had poked a hole in the whole global warming narrative with the cold temperatures in Washington, D.C. I was there in 2016 for the inauguration. And what I saw was it was people of all the descriptors. all different races, all different focuses in their lives. It was truly, truly amazing. And he’s not messing around. It is amazing each morning when I look at these headlines of what he’s doing. He is not messing around. And when we say people focus on the right things, what I really think that is, John Boson, is the focus on these foundational principles of that all men are created equal, so we’re all equal, and we each have these rights from God of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. That is the right thing. That is the thing that we need to conserve and preserve and reclaim here in America.
SPEAKER 06 :
Absolutely. You stick with those principles, and you make decisions based on those, and you’re going to go right. I didn’t mean it like that, but yes, you’re going to make smart, common-sense decisions about that affect everybody in a very positive way.
SPEAKER 15 :
And then you get America. So moving over to Boats and Law and what you do, you help people many times when they’ve been hurt or injured. And people should give you a call if that happens for a complimentary appointment. But you can also help people with social security disability. And I think that’s important that people know about that as well.

Yeah, it’s one of those things that we contribute. legitimately taxes from our pay, from our wages, and it’s there to help folks that, due to no fault of their own, they get in a terrible accident, they can’t work, irregardless of what the circumstances are, if they can’t work and they’ve paid in, they qualify, meet the criteria, they can apply for and we can help them seek and obtain Social Security disability benefits for the fact that they can’t work any longer. It can be injury, it can be illness, it can be any circumstances where they can’t work anymore. And so a lot of folks don’t know that. A lot of folks don’t timely apply. Family members don’t know that, so they don’t timely get an application in for a loved one. And it’s a long process, and it’s a process that definitely requires, in many cases, a lawyer to help the person kind of go through the maze that’s created for them, unfortunately, before they can obtain those benefits. And it’s, when I say a long process, from the date an application is filed, it’s typically in Colorado over 280 days before the initial decision is made whether someone qualifies and is going to get those benefits.
SPEAKER 15 :
Wow. So people need to call you now would be a good thing. What’s that phone number again?

Also, we did a great podcast with you that people can watch that at a climate conversation with a real in-depth interview about all these. There’s these fires in California, but a lot of people don’t know that there’s been a fire at a battery storage facility near San Francisco. So tell us about that.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, this one is much farther north, up by Monterey, just south of Silicon Valley. This was the Moss Landing Storage Facility. It’s the largest grid storage facility in the world. And what California is doing and a few other states like New York is they’re trying to put in wind and solar, which are intermittent. And what they’re trying to do is back them up with grid-scale batteries. These are very, very big lithium-ion batteries. The battery in your car is about 10,000 times as large as the lithium battery in your cell phone. But these grid-scale batteries are a couple hundred times bigger than even the car batteries. Anyway, this storage facility, one of the batteries self-ignited, as lithium batteries tend to do, and it burned up a whole building. It burned up 40% of this facility. It was completely destroyed. They had to evacuate 1,200 residents. They closed roads, and the people that weren’t evacuated nearby were told to close their windows and keep their pets indoors and a lot of other problems. But this is actually just a symptom of what’s going on right now. We have a worldwide epidemic, and it isn’t COVID. It’s lithium battery fires. I was just on the phone with a guy in Australia. They’re having 10,000 lithium battery fires a year in Australia now. It’s also become the biggest source of fire in New York City. That’s fires from e-bikes, lithium batteries. So this Moss Landing thing is just a tip of a big iceberg we’ve got right now. And, of course, all of this is to try and push for electric everything with the idea that we can save the planet if we do.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, I’ve got to – so under the whole green energy – Narrative is that they’re focused on clean air. Well, it seems like with all these fires in Southern California, and then you said these fires here outside of San Francisco, that is really polluting the air. And we need to connect that.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, you’re 100% right on that. California has not taken measures to reduce wildfires, as they should have, and there’s been a lot of that in the press. They have passed laws to reduce particle emissions from leaf blowers and lawnmowers, though. We’ve got to make sure we get those. But a single big fire in a single location that burns for a few days emits about 10,000 tons of small particles, which is as much as all of the vehicles in California in a year burn. And so all these fires around Los Angeles emitted several years of particles from transportation. And as you say, California needs to focus on the important things and not some of the other things that they have been doing.
SPEAKER 15 :
So ultimately, though, the whole green deal, and again, I’d recommend that people check out your book, Green Breakdown, The Coming Renewable Energy Failure. the Green New Deal, it’s not sustainable. It’s really about control of the populace, I think.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, it is many ways. There are bans. There are all sorts of different things. But, wow, last week we had shock and awe, as I think you know. President Trump literally dropped a bomb on green energy with all those executive orders. And he says we’re canceling the Green New Deal. He put a ban on all offshore licenses going to wind turbines. The United States government owns all the land off the shore of our coasts, and they’ve stopped leases for wind turbines. By the way, California was going to put in 25 gigawatts, and they haven’t started yet, and that has just shut down. We have many wind systems along the East Coast shut down. And it goes further. Electric vehicles are another big thing. He wants to get rid of the $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicles. He wants to remove all laws, and they’re already turning back some EPA regulations that would force everybody to switch to electric vehicles. Just big, big changes. So we’re seeing, as a matter of fact, I’ve called 2025 possibly the year that dooms green energy. Because of Mr. Trump and because of many other factors that are going on.
SPEAKER 15 :
So one of the things he did right off the bat was get out of the Paris Climate Accord, right? And so that was a big deal.
SPEAKER 05 :
It was. Yeah, the Paris Climate Accord was signed in 2016 by about 180 nations. It said we would reduce greenhouse gases and we would also transfer funds from the wealthy nations to the developing nations in the name of climate change. He has withdrawn from the second time. Mr. Biden reinstituted after he withdrew. He said effective immediately. And also, he stopped all money going to the Framework Convention on Climate Change, which is the United Nations group. And by the way, we just had a COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan in November. And the nations there, there’s a lot of dissension, but the nations pledged $300 billion a year in funding to go from wealthy nations like the United States to developing nations to help with climate. But Mr. Trump has cut our share off from all of that. So some really big changes happening. And by the way, he even wants to go back and look at the EPA endangerment finding in 2009 where they found that carbon dioxide was endangering U.S. citizens. He’s asking Lee Zeldin, the new head of the EPA, to review that and see if that’s still applicable. So the changes that are in process are huge.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, and a couple of questions. COP, what does that stand for, Steve?
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, that’s Conference of the Parties, COP. That’s the United Nations Conference of the Parties. That was the 29th meeting last year. They’ve been doing this since 1995. And by the way, we still have 81% of world energy that comes from coal oil and natural gas, the same as it was in 1999. So all of these conferences really have no effect whatsoever. But if we all live long enough, we may see a COP 50. I sure hope not. And by the way, this is the biggest carbon dioxide emitting event of last year. There was more than 60,000 people that flew into Baku, Azerbaijan, on commercial and private airlines just so they could all talk about how we need to control climate change. Just the height of irony.
SPEAKER 15 :
It is the height of irony. And 300… billion, you said, when we pull out, what’s our share of that?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, they really don’t divide that up in the countries. They say every country should look and decide what it needs to do, but we all need to pull our share. But there won’t be any coming from the United States. Maybe they’ll get it from Netherlands. I don’t know. I mean, the number is just astronomical. Matter of fact, a lot of countries are just in that thing so they can get money transferred Three years ago, India asked for a small thing. They wanted a trillion dollars a year to be net zero, a trillion dollars a year from the rest of the world to be net zero by 2060. I mean, just astronomical amounts. And so the whole climate thing has become a big wealth transfer thing in addition to all the other problems it has.
SPEAKER 15 :
Wow. And I was just looking. It seemed to me that Janet Yellen had – She’s the secretary of the Treasury under Biden. She had and I can’t find the headline right now, but she had said an astronomical amount that they were going to that she was dedicating towards the Green New Deal or that. Do you remember how much that was? I can’t remember. how much that was.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, these things have all, you know, they’ve been kind of hit or miss. I think Biden has been doing not much, $2 or $3 billion a year kind of a thing. I mean, not much relative to the $300 billion. So the whole thing, they’ve been asking for this. They haven’t really received all that much. But it continues to hang out there, and it’s just kind of running into problems. Maybe a bigger thing is all this money from the Inflation Reduction Act is which was passed by Mr. Biden in 2022. The Cato Institute estimates that in fiscal year 2025, $80 billion would be transferred to wind and solar and biofuels and charging stations and carbon dioxide pipelines, all this stuff. Mr. Trump says he’s going to quit that. He’s going to shut all that down that he can. Now, a bunch of that is in the form of tax credits. So he can’t change that. They would actually have to go in and modify the bill. So we’ll see what Congress can do. But again, a big part of the turnaround here to get away from shoveling all this money to renewables.

Although there are people that this whole green new deal, this whole climate change is really a religion for them. And so that’s why we have to continue to have discussions about it, but there’s people that have made their livings on it. They have put a lot of green in their pockets because of the green new deal. So it’s going to be a really interesting year, isn’t it?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, it is. And money is a real big factor. You’re right. Although I think most of these people are serious. I think the planet’s in trouble, but the science doesn’t really show that. But the world spent almost $2 trillion last year on renewables, trying to stop the planet from warming. And as you say, we have all these big industries now, wind, solar, biofuels, carbon dioxide capture and storage, all sorts of things going on. We have deans of sustainability. at universities and vice presidents of sustainability at companies. And so, and just an endless list of consultants that are consulting on all this green stuff. So money is a big, big factor. But you know, there’s some other factors that are occurring along with the Trump turnaround. One of these is the rising demand for electric power in the United States. And a lot of people don’t realize this. We had flat power demand for the last two decades. But now, in addition to the green things where they want to shift to electric vehicles, they want to shift to electric appliances away from gas appliances, we have this artificial intelligence revolution where all the big players like Microsoft and Meta and Google and Amazon are building data centers, and they’re also upgrading data centers to run AI, and these require huge amounts of electricity to It’s estimated that demand by data centers for electricity will go from 4% of U.S. electricity last year up to 20% of U.S. electricity within a decade, just a fantastic amount. And you can’t do this with wind and solar. And so we have all these power plants are being extended. Nuclear plants are restarting. They’re extending coal plants. Two plants in Wyoming, two plants in Utah that were extended coal plants. And so we have, this is going to stop the green movement in its tracks. And there’s already a lot of people screaming about how we’re extending coal plants. And we’re building more and more natural gas plants. But this is the only way that we can serve the demand for electricity. So just another factor that’s going to put the green energy movement sort of to bed.
SPEAKER 15 :
So who you mentioned, though, many of these big tech entrepreneurs have been really pushing the agenda of the Green New Deal. It’s so hypocritical, first of all.
SPEAKER 05 :
An example is Google. Google said they were going to be net zero by 2030, but they admitted three months ago that their emissions had gone up 45% in the last four years. And again, admitting carbon dioxide isn’t a problem, but you’re right, they’re very hypocritical. They say they’re going to be net zero, but they’re building more and more of these plants that use huge amounts of electricity. So it’s not working in that regard.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, what is that going to mean for everyday people? Out here in Colorado, Xcel Energy and this – and we really have a radical legislature, radical governor who – net zero legislation and rules, regulations. And so our electric bills have gone up significantly today. With this demand by these big tech companies for AI for electricity, what’s that going to mean for us, everyday people?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, electric bills are going to go up for everybody because these big guys are going to get contracts, although there will be a battle over that. We have some places like Atlanta Metropolis that is trying to ban new data centers. But, you know, you have some of your states that are kind of revolting now. Oklahoma is an example. There are hundreds of people that went into the legislature saying, in the last month or so demanding a ban on wind and solar installations. And Oklahoma is the third biggest wind state in the nation. In Wyoming, they have a new bill into the legislature that is called Make Carbon Dioxide Great Again Law, patterned after Mr. Trump. And they basically want to ban carbon reduction and capture efforts in Wyoming. That’s the purpose of the bill. And we haven’t seen this before, but we see some states starting to push back. And I think people are going to realize that we need to get back to sensible energy that’s reliable, that’s as low cost as we can make it. And we need to reduce real pollution, of course, particulates and lead and ozone, those sorts of things, but not carbon dioxide.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, and so then let’s go back to the fires in California. And there are many that have said that these fires would not have to be so intense and so hot if there was better management of the lands. What’s your comments on that?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I think that is true. Governor Newsom has for years said climate change was causing all the fires, but there have also been some studies in 2018 showing I forget the name of the study right now, but it basically took a look and said that fire suppression has been in place for about 100 years in California. And they said that you need fires to keep forests healthy. This was the little Hoover Commission. And so they say the forests are choked with dead trees and with brush. And when you get these fires, they have so much fuel you can’t put them out. The U.S. Forest Service also in 2018 estimated there were 147 million dead trees in California. And then if you look at other data across the world, the National Aeronautic and Space Administration, NASA, looks down every year and looks at burned area and tracks it. They look at all the fires across the world. And lo and behold, they found for the last two decades that global burned area has been declining. It’s down about 20%. in the last 20 years. And so then the question is, okay, how can California fires be increasing because of climate change when in the rest of the world, the burned area is decreasing? It doesn’t make any sense. So two words for Governor Newsom, they’re not climate change, they’re forest management. And I think, unfortunately, they’re learning the hard way.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, and I think Colorado is poised to have a real disaster as well. When I was up in the mountains In September, I drove to Grand Lake for their great Grand Lake U.S. Constitution Week, and the whole sides of mountains are just dead trees. And it took rocket scientists to figure out that that is poised for a really intense forest fire, and it’s because of lack of forest management, Steve.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, I think so. Well, California also has all these environmental laws. People have told me you can’t even get a permit to build a road through your forest. I mean, you can’t take down anything. And logging is down also about 60% since 1980. So, again, more factors that are just making the forests a bigger and bigger risk.
SPEAKER 15 :
And so this is going to be a really interesting year. I hope that we get – a handle on managing our forests and our grasslands. But you have said that this year may be the year that things are really going to turn around. Electric vehicles slow down. That will happen because the $7,500 credit is probably going away, yes?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, also last year was a very bad year for electric vehicles. U.S. EV share was very flat, about 8%. EV pickup trucks aren’t selling at all. They only have about 1% share in the U.S. In Europe, electric vehicle sales actually fell and their share declined relative to other cars. And Tesla, the big winner so far in EVs, their sales fell for the first time since 2012. So it’s sort of clear we’ve reached a market saturation with EVs and their growth is going to be much slower than they have been, even before President Trump gets in and removes the tax credits.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, one other thing, and we’re seeing this with some of the jurisdictions here in Colorado, and that is that they are banning building new gas stations. What do you think? Is that a trend? What do you think on that?
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, we basically have a war going on in the United States right now. We have about seven or eight states where cities and towns and sometimes even whole states like New York are banning uh gas natural gas or propane and new construction but people don’t know that we have 25 states where the legislatures have said mr mayor or mr county manager you can’t ban uh you can’t force people not to use natural gas you can’t ban that so those those uh states don’t get the headlines but but we have a war going on and again uh this idea that if we all uh if we all run uh heat pumps and electric stoves that we can stop the oceans from rising. That is modern superstition.
SPEAKER 15 :
It really is. And let’s see here. What would be your final thoughts then, Steve Gorham? And again, your book is, your latest book is Green Breakdown, The Coming Renewable Energy Failure. We have spent so much money on this. We’re so far in debt because of this, I think. Will we get this all turned around, do you think?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I think so, but it is going to take decades and decades. This year may be the start, but the power of climatism, the fear of man-made global warming is very powerful. But I discussed this in Green Breakdown, and they can get it from my website, stevegorem.com. By the way, it’s full of color sidebars and headlines, like, for example, this article in the Miami New Times that said, global warming makes couples cheat. It was a dating website, and so… You know, you now have an excuse for your spouse, climate change made me do it. But anyway, the book is filled with all those things as well as I should say the science and the economics that people need to know about what’s going on.

And we’ve talked a lot about this. Trent Luce and I have talked about it. Susan Kochvar, obviously, with the huge increase that she had in her property taxes. This is a way that we are seeing that it’s a not-so-subtle way to take our property, and that’s these significant property taxes. And so this was from in Kansas City, and, well, this is from Tony’s Kansas City. It says, a high-profile denizen of the local discourse shares his small biz hardship and offers a glimpse at worsening, challenging, confronting everyone living and working in and around this cow town. And it says that Chris Good, the owner of Ruby Jean’s Juicery, which has multiple locations across the Kansas City metro area, says that he has run out of time. He said it seems so real and so heavy today because this is the last business day of the year. Last year, the taxes on Ruby Jean’s Juicery building at $3,000 were just over $3,300. This year, they’re estimated to be $25,000. And apparently he’s been very – it’s a great little business, which has really helped that area. And so this is not sustainable. People cannot pay these property taxes. Here in Colorado, what we had seen with the repeal of the Gallagher Amendment, and that was several years ago, and Coloradans voted for it, And there were movers and shakers on both sides of the aisle that were pushing for that and receiving money to get out there and push to repeal the Gallagher Amendment here in Colorado. And what that was is that had really been guardrails on increases in residential property taxes. It was sold to us because it said that it was somewhat unfair to businesses. And so people… having good hearts and, well, we want to make sure that things are more equal. Well, they are more equal. And what that is is that property taxes have gone up significantly for both residential and commercial properties here in Colorado. This is going to make it more and more difficult for people to own their own property. And we’ve got to get a handle on these property taxes. That should be one of the first and foremost things that we are doing. And we’ve got to do that at the local level. the county and the state level. Last November, most Coloradans in these different school districts voted for higher and higher property taxes, more debt, mill levy overrides on our property, and that is going to make life less affordable for each and every one of us. And so we’ve got to get a handle on these property taxes. We need to lower taxes across the board so that we have more money in our pocket. And this is just something that we need to do. I’m going to get through some of these text messages. Oh, okay. So bad move, renaming Denali to Mount McKinley. It’s divisive at this point. Okay. Thank you for that. our listener on that. It is divisive. Okay. Let me, I actually liked the idea that Donald Trump is doing that. It was very divisive when they renamed that, but that is a good point that maybe we don’t need to do that because it sheds light on that. So, okay. I’ll think about that. Gammy has texted in, she says, we don’t have decades and decades to get this all turned around. We are going to have to, again, take action immediately. And so that, that is true. Another thing, this is from, I think Holly, she said a normal fire in a forest is healthy for the forest. I don’t think it is when they get as hot as they are in LA because it incinerates everything and it makes it more difficult for regrowth. But we, it does. It’s amazing. Things do regrow, but these fires are so intense that she’s right on that as well. Hold on here. Just some other things. Okay, this is an important point that moving to nuclear. Those that control the food supply, those that control energy, those that control transportation, they control everything. And that’s what we have seen with the Green New Deal is this goal is to control everything with everyday people. And so it is important that we get this whole thing turned around. I love the fact that Donald Trump is going to really take a look at all these government grants. That is, as Jenny has said, that is like the cocaine for drug addicts grants to our local, our county, our state governments, our school districts. We need to get rid of this grant money that will help reduce our debt. And so Donald Trump seems to be really serious about trying to make that happen as well. And again, the text line is 720-605-0647. Another headline that we did not get to, but I think it is super important. And that is L.A. Mayor Karen Bass’s past in communist Cuba is refilled. And many say that her political career is over. And that’s from the Daily Mail. How is it, my friends? And we have those that are pushing the communist agenda right here in Colorado as well. And we can see that the communist agenda really destroys people’s lives. It takes away their wealth, their property, and it really is mismanagement, I think, as one of the reasons that so many people lost their homes and people lost their lives in these L.A. fires. And it is because of this agenda that’s being pushed forward for many, many years. And you ask, how can we get to the point that we are electing those that are pushing the communist agenda? But that is happening right now at our statehouse here in Colorado. And so we’ve got to get our elections cleaned up. group that we raised money all of you raised money to fund those lawsuits uh regarding our elections here in colorado and it’s time to get an update on what is happening with all of that and so how does it happen how does all this happen it’s because of of uh of elections i think so um Okay, so this came in on the text line as well. So one of our listeners said it’s divisive. Another listener says, I love the fact that Trump is renaming anything that had been renamed non-American by the Biden administration and reclaiming America. That’s really what he’s about. And so we will continue to talk about these important issues each and every day. But our quote for the end of the show is from Roger Williams.
