SPEAKER 11 :
Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. It’s Friday, March the 14th, 2025. This week, Republicans push for government funding. The Trump administration presses the courts to remove a terrorist sympathizer. And our show, well, I serve jury duty. Wow. We begin in Washington, D.C., where Doge tries to save the taxpayers money and Republicans want a new resolution to spend some. We better get this continuing resolution passed. I don’t like seeing folks like Thomas Massey get bagged on. The guy’s a maverick. He’s a renegade. He’s a guy that, you know, marches to his own drum. He marches to his own drumbeat. I think during COVID, he refused to fly on a plane with a mask on. So he drove from his home in Kentucky to D.C. He’s a guy who stands up for what he believes in. He doesn’t believe in unity. He puts his principles over that. And I respect that. I really do. However, we’re going to get buried on this if and when the government shuts down. It’s really important that this continuing resolution, which will fund the government through September, passes. Look, Democrats think that they’re getting a leg up if they get a government shutdown. They want the government shutdown. And they’re going to blame Elon Musk because they’re blaming him for everything else. Which is insanity. Look, President Trump is on record as saying that the House and the Senate have put together, under the circumstances, a very good funding bill. The CR. All Republicans should vote. Please, he even said, yes. Great things are coming. Look, we’re suffering some economic pain right now. We all get it. Do you trust Trump or not? Do you trust the efforts to trim the fat or don’t you? It’s real important, real important that we do the right thing here. And, you know, the Democrats want you to freak out about the stock market. When you cut your wasteful spending, look at it in your own life. If you go from spending like a drunken sailor to putting yourself on a budget, it’s going to hurt. You’re used to all the things you got when you were spending like a drunken sailor. But all of this is the right thing to do. You know it, and I know it. And the American people knows it. And the Democrats are afraid that Republicans are going to know it, too. I want you to hear from Elon Musk talking about how we are absolutely doing the right thing here. He was with Maria Bartiromo. There was a good conversation on Fox News, and he’s right. We are doing the right thing. There’s going to be some, this is going to, my apologies, this is Larry Kudlow, of course, not Maria. Elon sat down with Larry Kudlow, and it was such a riveting conversation. And I want to make sure that we understand what the stakes are. Almost obscenely transparent. This guy takes to X. He’ll sit down with anybody and explain what’s being done, how we’re doing it, why we’re doing it. And these goofy leftists have gone from driving around in their Teslas and singing the praises of electric vehicles. to firebombing Cybertrucks and threatening the lives of Tesla employees. That’s how goofy today’s left has become. So let’s take a listen to Elon Musk explaining to Larry Kudlow on Fox Business Network why indeed this is all being done. And frankly, I would add, I would add we’ve got to get this continuing resolution passed, and we’ve got to do everything we can to avoid a government shutdown. Here’s Elon with Larry.
SPEAKER 07 :
What motivates you to do this? Was the offer good? It’s tough sledding. Yeah, it is tough sledding. But I think we’re doing the right thing here. There’s been a tremendous amount of waste and fraud in the government. When you were part of the government, you saw a lot of that. If you look at the Inspector General reports and the Government Accountability Office, There have been many audits that have pointed out that there’s a tremendous amount of waste and fraud in the government. In fact, there was a report issued by the GAO, the Government Accountability Office, last year. So during the Biden administration, which estimated the federal government fraud to be half a trillion dollars. So just because that’s not a Trump administration thing, it’s a Biden administration thing. So what we’re trying to do is get that number down to a much smaller figure, save money for the American taxpayer, stop money being spent on things that are that I think very few taxpayers would agree makes sense. You know, transgender animal surgeries or why are we spending what American tax dollars being spent on this? And the president’s gone through a long list of absurd things. Why are the 20 million people who are definitely dead marked as alive in the Social Security database? Why were hundreds of millions of dollars of Small Business Administration loans were given out to people aged 11 and under, according to them? According to the Social Security, these must be some very enterprising eight-year-olds. And some pretty strong 150-year-olds. Yes, exactly. As the president said, we have an enormous number of people marked as alive who are 160. He didn’t know the country was that healthy.
SPEAKER 11 :
They used to love Elon Musk, and I’m fascinated by why they hate him now. It’s pretty simple. He’s just on the wrong team. He left their team. Do you think Elon Musk stopped being a genius? Do you think Elon Musk, one of the smartest and certainly richest guys in the world, suddenly stopped being smart? They just don’t like what side he’s on. Not all congressional Republicans are on board with the continuing resolution. Consider the case of renegade, rogue, maverick Congressman Thomas Massey of Kentucky. And let’s find out what you think about this riff between President Trump and Congressman Massey. We’ll start with Andy here in Tampa. Andy, welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show. You’re first up. How are you?
SPEAKER 09 :
Hey, good. Thanks, Mike. Good. Yeah, it’s a great day in Tampa Bay.
SPEAKER 11 :
Isn’t it great? I was really hit by it today about how lucky we are to live here, right, with this kind of weather.
SPEAKER 09 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 11 :
It’s gorgeous out here. You’re right. You are right. All right, so what do you think about Massey sort of obstructing Trump’s agenda, whether he means to or not?
SPEAKER 09 :
I think he’s got some other pretenses. I think he’s got maybe a bone to pick. Common sense would have never allowed him to do something like this at a time like this with our country.
SPEAKER 11 :
I feel the same way. I just feel like I think there are people who say no just for the sake of saying no.
SPEAKER 09 :
I think that Mike really, he’s got a bone to pick with Trump, and this is just his opportunity to do it.
SPEAKER 11 :
I’m glad you brought this up. Thank you, Andy. I’m glad you said that. You know how we often find trolls who say, I’m a big Trump supporter. I voted for Trump nine times. I’m a Trump guy. But, and then they drop the other shoe, and they sound like every typical Trump-hating, wild-eyed lunatic in America. It’s people, they have an agenda. And in many cases, they’re DeSantis supporters. Or they loved Ted Cruz and they didn’t like the way Trump picked off Ted Cruz. They’ve got some other hidden agenda. Could that be the case with Congressman Massey? Bobby in Frankfort, Kentucky. Hey, Bobby, how are you? I’m great. How are you doing, Mike? I’m good. Is Massey your congressman? No, he’s not my congressman, but… I wondered what his district was. I wasn’t sure. I hear a lot about him. Sure, of course. I wasn’t sure about what district he was in, what he had.
SPEAKER 13 :
Yeah, I think he’s got more of northern Kentucky, but I’m not sure. I’m in central Kentucky. Got it. Frankfurt, the capital.
SPEAKER 11 :
Tracy will grab an answer for you. We’ll get an answer on that here in just a moment.
SPEAKER 13 :
Go ahead. I think Massey is somewhat of a grandstander at times, and maybe he does have a bone to pick with Trump. I’m not sure. But as far as Rand goes, I think Rand is a principled guy and he stands on. His beliefs, I don’t always agree with him, but he’s consistent.
SPEAKER 11 :
I don’t think he’s just grandstanding in this case. I tend to agree with you. I said Rand Paul comes to mind, but I don’t see Rand Paul doing what Massey does. I’ll bet Rand Paul votes yes on the continuing resolution. We’re going to see. But you’re right. That’s a distinction that I think we need to make. Now, let me get somebody in here who says we’re all dead wrong in criticizing Massey. Jacob in Battle Creek. Hey, Jacob, welcome back.
SPEAKER 10 :
Hey, thank you. You bet. Yeah, I do disagree with you, Mike. I think your politics are cultish when it comes to Trump. Cultish? Yes. You agree with everything he does, everything he says, from top to bottom, no matter what. And having a disagreement with someone, and agreeing with 99% of what they do, but disagreeing with one portion of it, then you call those people trolls.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, but this, well, wait a minute, but I mean, in this case, the 1% here, this is a pretty big deal. Avoiding a government shutdown so that we don’t give the Democrats what they want, because they’re going to lay a government shutdown right at the feet of Donald Trump and Elon Musk. This is a big deal. This is a really important thing to do. And so this isn’t minor. This isn’t just 1%.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, when it comes to principles, we say we want to be fiscally responsible, and we’re fiscally responsible. We’re doing things to get there 95% of the way, but then when it comes to funding stuff like Planned Parenthood and all these other programs that are in the program, the funding bill, we say no. Some people, like Max, he says, no, I want to stand on principle. And people like you say that he’s just doing it just to be controversial. He wants to stand on principle.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, well, that’s what he says, and that’s what you say. And look, we don’t know what’s in his heart. You could be right. Maybe he’s just a guy that just always thinks it’s good to say no to everything. The Trump administration has identified one of the leaders of the pro-Hamas demonstrations at Columbia University in New York. Turns out he’s a resident alien with a green card, not an American citizen. This could be a problem for him.
SPEAKER 09 :
The voters, they call us U.S.-born Americans now.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, they can’t even define what an American citizen is. They’ve been lying about this pro-Palestinian, pro-Hamas activist in New York claiming he’s a citizen. And let’s make sure we set the record straight. He is not a citizen. This guy is a green card resident. He’s a resident alien. He’s not a citizen. I don’t care if he’s married to a pregnant American. He is here on a green card as our guest here. And if our guest is leading protests on the campus of Columbia University and elsewhere, representing an organization that stands for the, quote, eradication of Western civilization, you need to go back to the country you came from. And the Democrats have made this guy a hero. Are you following this case? This story? It’s amazing. Mahmoud Khalil? President Trump has described him as a radical foreign pro-Hamas student, leading demonstrations, taking over college campuses. He’s a Palestinian, a former grad student. And they’re trying to make this guy the poster boy for free speech. It’s fascinating to watch Democrats always side with people from another country other than the United States. who are leading pro-Hamas demonstrations. Now, he claims he’s not. He’s pro-Palestinian, not pro-Hamas. Well, good luck separating the two. I’ve tried for a long time. I hate the deaths of the men, women, and children in Gaza. Any normal, decent person, anybody with an ounce of civility, should hate thousands and thousands and thousands of people being killed. We should hate that every bit as much as hating all of the Jews who have been slaughtered, the men, women, children butchered, raped, burned alive. I’ve been to Israel. I know all about what they did on October the 7th. And we’ve got people like this activist who apparently lift those actions up. That’s astounding to me. That’s absolutely amazing. So that’s, I mean, that’s evil. We’re witnessing evil personified. There isn’t another way to describe it. With the success of the Trump administration thus far, America has witnessed an alarming rise in violence from the left. The story of Jamie White, a reporter at Alex Jones’s InfoWars, provides just one disturbing example possibly. And one story that is not, and by the way, yesterday X was hit by a massive cyber attack. Violent progressives who used to love Teslas and electric vehicles and Elon are now burning down, you know, are firebombing Cybertrucks. The left has become increasingly violent, and it’s problematic. Big time. Big time problems. And in fact… There’s a guy by the name of Jamie White who is a reporter for Alex Jones’ InfoWars. And he was shot dead outside of his home in Austin, Texas, Sunday night. Alex Jones announced, we are deeply saddened to inform you that InfoWars reporter Jamie White was brutally murdered around midnight Sunday night. Now, there’s no suspects yet. The details are sketchy, and I’m wondering why in the world the mainstream media isn’t the least bit interested in this story. Well, you know why, because it’s Alex Jones. He’s hated by the mainstream media, and they’re not covering this. If this had been a reporter for any other media group in the world, it’s all we’d be talking about. And you want to know the really chilling irony of this guy’s death? His last post on X was retweeting an Elon Musk comment about how violent progressives have become. That was the last thing he posted. Before he was brutally murdered. I want to get details on this. And again, since the mainstream media isn’t reporting on it, we’ll do some digging of our own with one of the best newsmen in America, Roger P. Shulman, who’s the veteran Tampa Bay journalist and our anchor here on the Mike Gallagher Show. Roger, what is the latest here? Bring us up to date on what you know about the killing of Jamie White.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, he didn’t show up for work. He was very reliable. So Jones sent some people over to his apartment where they found yellow crime tape and blood all over. And it turns out that he was shot to death. The police in Austin aren’t saying much. The police in Austin have had their budget cut by a third in recent years, and the crime rate has skyrocketed in that city. And the problem is, Jose Garza is a Soros-supported man. district attorney and you know what that means it means that they’re going to be soft on crime they’re going to be releasing violent criminals into the streets right out of jail without any jail time in many cases and it’s become a very dangerous city now he was working on that story as you mentioned mike about the violence of the republicans the uh right the left side and all the problems Speaking of Tesla, the Tesla dealerships are getting all kinds of bomb threats and nasty calls and swastikas painted on some of the buildings. It’s turning into a very nasty situation because the left doesn’t know what to do at this point. So they’re resorting to their basics of violence. And Soros, of course, wants all of our cities to disintegrate into crime, violence and vigilantism and race wars and everything else by releasing all these prisoners. So that’s what…
SPEAKER 11 :
And I do want to make sure we’re clear here on something. You know, Alex said apparently on his show, the police did tell us that they have some suspects, and I’m going to leave it at that. Alex said they didn’t want to tell us whether it was a stabbing or a shooting. I can just tell you that from the amount of blood, it was very serious. They were there scrubbing his blood off the ground when our folks got there. He concluded by saying, my condolences go to the family. Your son was and is an amazing person, and we’re so proud of the work that Jamie White did. But to be clear, Roger, there have been no arrests made yet, right?
SPEAKER 04 :
That is my understanding, and my understanding is a later report said that it was a shooting, but— As you know, early in these investigations, the facts can be twisted around wrong, but it looks like it was a shooting, and it may have been targeted. It may not have been a random thing, although there are a lot of random crimes in Austin now that the police department’s budget has been cut. They’ve been having a lot of problems with the district attorney there, the Soros-supported one, because they’re not getting the backing they need.
SPEAKER 11 :
Wow, what a story. All right, we appreciate the information. Roger P. Shulman from our newsroom, 800-655-MIKE. This is the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. We’ve established that Doge is trying to do what’s best for our country, and the Democrats apparently oppose that. Interestingly, to hear Nancy Pelosi just a few years ago, you would think she was on board with Elon Musk. I used to love Elon Musk. They loved EVs, and they used to love the concept of government efficiency. We went into the archives. We found a couple of clips from people you might recognize. I have to admit that I like Bernie Sanders in spite of myself. I do. He’s the real deal. He’s an old hippie, you know? He’s a hippie from Vermont, and he’s a socialist. But he is who he is. I don’t think there’s a hidden agenda with Bernie Sanders. Frankly, Bernie Sanders, to me, is one of the most authentic leftists in America. He doesn’t just go into a… I mean, he is who he is. Well, let’s go back to who he was in 2008.
SPEAKER 12 :
There is no question that there is an enormous amount of waste and fraud and abuse in this government. There is no question to my mind that Congress has not been vigilant enough in rooting out that waste and fraud to the tune of billions and billions of dollars. I would simply say that while it is absolutely appropriate to condemn the Congress, it is also important to note that we have an administration in this city, in Washington, D.C., and the function of an administration is to administer. And that means that when There is waste and fraud. You have an administration who should also be on top of that situation.
SPEAKER 11 :
Oh, well, Bernie, it may have taken a while, but we gave you one. You want an administration that deals with waste and fraud? We found one. It’s called the Trump administration. It’s here. Meanwhile, Bernie today says he’s living through the scariest period of his life as an American. He’s scared. He’s fearful of Trump’s slashing waste and fraud. Hey, back when it was cool, Bernie, in 2008, you didn’t like waste and fraud. Let me give you another star of the Democrat Party. The one and only Nancy Pelosi. Let’s hear what she used to say about government waste, fraud, and abuse in 2010.
SPEAKER 02 :
We cannot keep our promises on Medicare. We simply must. Make the cuts and waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicare so that the benefits and the premiums are untouched. We owe it to our seniors.
SPEAKER 11 :
We owe it to our country. Oh, okay. Well, we gave it to you, Nancy. We elected Donald Trump twice. And the second time around, he ain’t playing games. He’s not playing footsie anymore. He is peddled with a medal. And not everybody likes that. Portions of our show brought to you by MyPillow. And the flannel sheets are 50% off right now. Or call 800-928-6034. 800-928-6034. MyPillow.com. I didn’t work Monday in order to serve jury duty. Now, I always thought jurors ought to be professionals. My experience this week, my personal experience, has totally changed my mind. I think it makes sense to have the jurors be as professional as the bailiff, the stenographer, the judge, the lawyers. Everybody in that courtroom is a professional except the jury. It’s a hardship for people. It’s a financial hardship for people. Look, it’s a hardship for – I hated missing the show yesterday. And my company has a jury duty policy. If you’re an entrepreneur, if you’ve got your own business, if you’re a truck driver, if you’re – like one lady was in a beauty parlor, like what do you call it, an estetion or something. It hurts. It’s hard. But I changed my mind yesterday. I had a sea change aha moment in realizing… the sense of duty that I had in being called to adjudicate or help determine the fate of a young man who was being charged with, it appeared to be drug charges. Now, what was a little interesting about it is that they read the drug charges, the judge did, and the judge, by the way, he was wonderful. This warm, funny, caring, smart guy I didn’t even catch his name. I think it might have been Esposito. But he was wonderful. And I’ve got a lot to share about the jury duty experience. But I will tell you, and in my case… We get in there. The defendant is sitting at a table facing you. It’s like the weird thing is we were all in the gallery, like there’s 55 or 60 of us. The defendant and his lawyer are at a table facing us, looking us all in the eye, which is a little intimidating. And the reason it’s intimidating is because one of the potential jurors said, I don’t want to be on this jury because I live in South St. Pete and snitches get stitches. They don’t like rats in my neighborhood, and I don’t want to have any repercussions for being on a jury. I thought, oh, that’s great. That’s a nice, lovely thought. And then on the other table is the prosecutor, and she was very nice and very professional, and she welcomed everybody. And everybody’s standing up giving their reasons for why they may or may not be on the jury. Can you be fair? And the judge kept saying, can you be fair? Can you be objective? And I don’t have a reason not to be on the jury. There are people that were going to lose their jobs, possibly. Or caregivers. One woman said, I’ve got my elderly husband at home. I’m his primary caregiver. A few days away from him is disastrous. Makes sense, right? Well, what’s my reason? I’m a big mouth talk show host? So I did decide to say, when the judge was asking, is there anything about your life that might render you unable to be fair? And I stood up. I didn’t say I was a talk show host. I don’t know if anybody knew what I did for a living, although somebody later told me, oh, they knew. Trust me, the judge and the lawyers, they Google, they know who people are. But anyway, I didn’t get into that. I would never pull one of those do you know who I am things. But I did say that in the course of my duties, I run a foundation that assists the families of police officers killed in the line of duty. And we support law enforcement in the foundation. And I am always, always willing to give police officers the benefit of the doubt. And I said, I know it’s my duty to be objective, but I don’t know that I can be. Well, I noticed that the defendant’s lawyer was a woman, very pleasant looking lady. She immediately wrote a note down next to my name. I guarantee you what she wrote was, hail no to this guy. Let’s give actress and entertainer and comic Rosie O’Donnell some credit. She doesn’t like the president, so true to her word, she has moved out of America and went to Ireland. Kevin McCarthy was a guest with Jesse Waters last night on Fox News. Did you hear that Rosie O’Donnell has fled the country and she’s now living in Ireland with one of her kids? Now, you’re going to get mad at me. I always want to like her. I don’t know what it is. She’s completely unhinged about Trump. My wife and I used to watch her talk show back in the day. She used to be the queen of nice, and Trump broke her like he’s broken so many others. But I like her. I just like her personality. She’s a longtime entertainer, stand-up comic and talk show host and actress and everything. She’s the only Broadway lover that I’ve ever seen who got cast in Broadway shows, and by her own admission, she can’t sing a note. She was in Grease, and they’ll play her number from Grease. It’s like cats in heat. She can’t hit a note. But they loved her because she showcased Broadway on her show, and so they said, hey, you want to be in Grease? And oh my gosh, it’s brutal. We should find that, Eric. We ought to play that. She’s like tone deaf. There are worse things I can do. Oh, horrible. But, again, I bet I’d like her. I’ll bet I’d love to have a Diet Coke with her. That’s just me. And look, I’ve got to give her credit. She threatened to leave the country like so many celebrities have done. And she did it. Now she’s living in Ireland. How many celebrities have you seen? Trump wins in the Republican. I’m out. I’m gone. Well, guess what? She did it. So last night on Fox, Jesse Waters and former Speaker McCarthy had a little bit of fun at Rosie’s expense.
SPEAKER 06 :
If insulting Trump was a good strategy, Kamala would be eating Doritos in the Oval right now. And Rosie O’Donnell would still be living in America.
SPEAKER 01 :
I’m here in Ireland, and it’s beautiful and warm. Not physically, it’s actually quite cold. Moved here on January 15th, and it’s been pretty wonderful in the process of getting my Irish citizenship as I have Irish grandparents. When, you know… It is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America. That’s when we will consider coming back.
SPEAKER 06 :
Kevin McCarthy is the former Speaker of the House. Can you believe Rosie has left the country?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, as a as an Irish American, I’m excited as an American. But as Irish, she kind of destroyed St. Patrick’s Day for Ireland or gave them a reason to drink to their drunk.
SPEAKER 06 :
Poor Rosie. She says she’s coming back, though. So I’m sure we’ll be ready to accept her. I’m not sure if she’ll get through customs, but we’ll see how she does. Kevin, does she know the border is secure now? She’s going to have a hard time getting back.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, she’s self-deported. She didn’t even need Trump’s new CBP app. She just, she’s self-deported and she’s gone. Isn’t there a party that kind of likes that she did this? Not because she’s out of America. I mean, I think about all these insufferable celebrities who promise to leave the country if things don’t go the way they like it, which is, of course, the act of utter petulance. You’re unhappy with a political outcome. Look, grow up. Politics is often a pendulum, and who knows if it’ll swing back your way, like it has. You know, we had Obama, we had Trump, we had Biden, we have Trump. And when Democrats were elected, I’m not sure any of us would be leaving the country if Kamala won. You might have thought about it. But isn’t there something refreshing about a celebrity like Rosie O’Donnell promising to leave the country if the election doesn’t go her way? And then she does? Or do you just think she’s a complete joke and you just don’t give her any? Maybe I got a blind spot on Rosie O’Donnell. And finally, you may think that being on TV is a cushy gig, but believe me, it’s not always fun and games. I admit there are times when I crack up and I love getting to do what I do. But when you lose it, it’s a terrible feeling when you lose control and you start laughing hysterically. And I learned about… A guy, this is a video clip that I saw a few minutes ago. It cracked me up. It’s from Paducah, Kentucky. We’ve got folks in Paducah who listen to us. This was on WPSD, Local 6. And the anchorman’s name is Robert Bradfield. I think he’s still the main anchor now on the station. And he was doing a story about a disabled pig. Now, Tracy, we’ve got to send the clip back out. We’re going to have to use the keyword pig, but don’t do it yet. Don’t send the keyword yet, but that will be our keyword. But before we get – let me now put the cart before the horse or the wheels before the pot-bellied pig. This pig was born without legs, like rear legs. And for whatever reason, they decided to get him training wheels. This poor anchor gets to the part of what the pig’s name is, and he completely falls apart and loses it on live TV.
SPEAKER 03 :
Now to the story of a pig that is inspiring others. One pot-bellied pig has certainly endured his share of problems. Chris P. Bacon was born without the use of his tongue. i did yeah you have to read this story we should not oh my god
SPEAKER 11 :
Now, he tried to get the weather anchor to read the story, but she couldn’t because she was doubled over laughing. They were all laughing hysterically. And, of course, he wasn’t making fun of the disabled pig. You can almost hear him say, I’m sorry, because he doesn’t want, you know. I know he was thinking, oh, my gosh, like disabled activists are going to be mad at me because I’m making fun of the disabled pig. It was the name, Chris, C-H-R-I-S, Chris P. Bacon. and Chris P. Bacon had these training wheels, and he just lost it hysterically. It was just a great moment. And that was from 2014 or 2015, and I am relieved that he didn’t lose his job.
