(Worthy News) – U.S. President Donald Trump renewed his public defense of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, calling for all corruption charges against the longtime Israeli leader to be dropped and warning that the trial could sabotage sensitive negotiations with Iran and Hamas.

In a fiery post on Truth Social, Trump called Netanyahu a “War Hero” who “did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring Great Success in getting rid of the dangerous Nuclear threat in Iran.” He compared the legal proceedings in Jerusalem to the politically motivated investigations he claims to have faced in the United States, dubbing both a “Witch Hunt.”

Trump accused the Israeli justice system of waging a politically driven campaign against a sitting prime minister during a time of national crisis. “How is it possible that the Prime Minister of Israel can be forced to sit in a Courtroom all day long, over NOTHING (Cigars, Bugs Bunny Doll, etc.)?” he asked. “We are not going to stand for this. Let Bibi go—he’s got a big job to do!”

Netanyahu reposted Trump’s message to X, thanking the U.S. president and declaring, “Together, we will make the Middle East Great Again!” The two leaders have long maintained a close political alliance, often echoing each other’s rhetoric in the face of domestic legal battles.

Trump also linked the ongoing trial to efforts to reach a hostage deal with Hamas and advance peace initiatives following the recent Iran-Israel conflict. “This travesty of ‘Justice’ will interfere with both Iran and Hamas negotiations,” he warned.

Earlier in the week, Israeli President Isaac Herzog signaled his openness to a plea bargain in the Netanyahu trial, a move some observers say was in direct response to Trump’s initial calls to end the prosecution. “Bibi and I just went through HELL together,” Trump had posted Thursday. “He is a WARRIOR, like perhaps no other Warrior in the History of Israel.”

Meanwhile, the Jerusalem District Court on Sunday agreed to postpone Netanyahu’s court appearance originally scheduled for this week, after reviewing classified national security briefings presented by Mossad Director David Barnea, IDF Intelligence Chief Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder, and Netanyahu himself.

Netanyahu’s attorneys had submitted a sealed envelope outlining his confidential obligations in the coming days. Judge approval came only for one day of delay—Monday, June 30—with the court rejecting further postponements due to what it said were insufficient justifications. “Generally, the schedule presented does not contain data, details, or extraordinary matters that could justify canceling hearings,” the judges wrote in their ruling.

Behind closed doors, coalition sources hinted that Netanyahu’s legal team may soon request a complete stay of proceedings, citing national security concerns. Whether that request would be approved remains to be seen.

Trump’s intervention has sparked renewed debate in Israel over judicial independence and the balance between legal accountability and national leadership in wartime. For Netanyahu, however, Trump’s vocal support is a political lifeline as he battles on multiple fronts—at home, in court, and across the region.
