Breitbart News’ Editor-in-chief, Alex Marlow, joins Mike to discuss the current American political and cultural landscape. From Sydney Sweeney being a republican star to President Trump’s soaring popularity. Is this just the beginning of a right-wing takeover?

The Mike Gallagher Show in the ReliefFactor.com studios.
SPEAKER 03 :
Democrats have all of these laws that are supposed to lower the price of housing. It doesn’t. It raises the price of housing. And then you let millions of illegals into the country and then put them up in hotels in the city and then force taxpayers to pay to put those people up. And then you’re surprised that the cost of housing has gone through the roof? Well, these are all Democrat policies.
SPEAKER 04 :
On Salem News Channel and Salem Radio Network, here’s Mike.
SPEAKER 06 :
I kind of consider it my mission to keep giving you good news. And there’s a lot of good news going on right now. And a lot of Republican victories. And it’s thanks, frankly, to the leadership of folks like our next guest. I’m going to be in South Carolina in a couple of hours, spending a long weekend there. Of course, our home, our old home, is now once again our return home. News Talk 98.9 WORD, the voice of the Carolinas, one of the most powerful and influential talk stations in America. And boy, what an honor it is to be back in their lineup, along with my buddy Joey Hudson. And look, I know all about Senator Tim Scott, a Republican U.S. Senator from the great state of South Carolina. He chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. He’s the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Happens to have a new book out, which we’re happy to share with you. But let’s welcome back to the Mike Gallagher Show, the one and only Senator Tim Scott. Senator, it’s great to see you. Appreciate you joining us. It just feels like it’s a time we need you. We need normalcy. We need leadership. And as I start, because it seems crazy. I mean, the Democrats right now hiding. Running from Texas and hiding in Illinois. Zoran Mamdani maybe being mayor of New York City. I mean, Senator, these Democrat policies are spinning. They’re coming apart. And I think Americans are finally once and for all saying enough is enough.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, Michael, one thing is completely clear. The Democrats are losing their minds because they’ve lost their voters. And if Mondandi is the answer to their problems, it is great news, frankly, for the conservative party, better news for the American people because they’ll have a clear contrast on why socialism has failed everywhere around the world and, frankly, even in America. Think about the fact that Chicago… L.A., Detroit, and Seattle, cities that are run by extreme liberals as close to socialists as you can get, they have failed miserably to represent the best interests of their cities. That means that when we come with solutions, more and more Americans are joining the President Trump working class coalition because they have common sense. And they can see disaster coming. And frankly, from New York to Minneapolis, new cities that want to try an old experiment that has failed every single time.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, Senator, meanwhile, you guys keep your head down and you just keep winning and you’re doing effective leadership and things. I mean, I’ve got some breaking news right as we began the interview. The Century Aluminum Company is going to invest $50 million.
SPEAKER 01 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
And I want to share this great news. They’re going to step up production. This is near Monk’s Corner. They’re going to add local jobs. And I’m reading here from the Post and Courier, Senator, the decision to step up production of this South Carolina aluminum maker was the direct result of President Trump’s new trade policies. That are because of, you know, once again, the tariffs, the tariffs that the overseas rivals are being forced to pay is allowing American companies like Century Aluminum Company to step up. They’re going to bring the production there, Senator, as you know, back to 2015 peak levels.
SPEAKER 09 :
I love it, Mike. I tell you what, I’ve been talking with the CEO of Century Aluminum for the last several weeks as it relates to the importance of the big, beautiful bill. And I’m excited to hear the announcement that a 25% increase at least coming to my low country of South Carolina. What a blessing. Let’s just say it for all of your audience to hear one more time. Thank you, President Donald J. Trump, for putting American workers first. Thank you, President Donald J. Trump, for taking care of the American people and allowing us to see the fruit on the tree of these tariff propositions. People said, oh, my goodness, oh, my goodness, they’re going to fail. Inflation, 2.7%. Deals over $2 trillion and counting. Indonesia, the Philippines, now the EU. The deals keep coming in. Why? We finally have a president who is awake, at the wheel, getting things done. It has been a fabulous six months.
SPEAKER 06 :
What a ride we’ve been on. Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina joining us here on the Mike Gallagher Show. I want to get to your book, which I can’t wait to read, One Nation Always Under God, Always Under God. I love that little addition to the phrase. But before we get to that, I’ve got to brag on you for a little bit for a moment, Senator Scott. In the first seven months, I’m reading here about your accomplishments in leading the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. You have been delivering results for the American people. Yesterday, President Trump signed an executive order telling banks no more shutting down accounts and discriminating against people because of their political views. You know the name Mike Lindell. You know the MyPillow guy. I mean, he’s a big part of our show.
SPEAKER 01 :
Yes, sir.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, he was debanked. The banks came to him and said, we don’t like your views. We don’t like how you feel about election integrity. We don’t particularly like your friendship, I guess, with President Trump. So guess what? You’ve been banking with us for 20, 25 years. No more. You can’t do business with us anymore. And yesterday, President Trump, thanks largely, I think, to a lot of the efforts you’re doing with banking, housing and urban affairs. Banks can’t do this anymore, Senator.
SPEAKER 09 :
Thank God. Mike, I’ll tell you, President Trump, once again, leading in a powerful way. I passed just a couple of months ago out of the banking committee something called the FIRM Act, which eliminated the reputational risk. The problem, of course, is I couldn’t get a single Democrat to support the legislation. President Trump takes the same concept of removing reputational risk from the playbook and he makes it an executive order, which means it goes into effect immediately. I’m still hopeful and optimistic that we can get that legislation signed into law to actually protect future presidencies. But the truth is in. President Trump says he wants a fair financial system, not one that is prejudiced against Republicans. This is modern day redlining. That’s all it is. And this time around, instead of it being about race, it’s about partisanship. When Melania Trump is debate, when Donald J. Trump is debate, it is time for us to eliminate their weaponization of reputational risk against conservatives and Christians and disfavored industries like cryptocurrency, oil and gas, and gun manufacturers. All have been debate from the Obama administration to the Biden administration, but not in the Trump administration.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, let’s talk about perhaps, I think, one of the most important things you and I can discuss, and that’s a book, your book, that went on sale this week that focuses on the way that Christian values forged our legal system, forged our schools, our educational institutions, health care. I mean, so much more. The book is called One Nation Always Under God, Profile in Christian Courage. Tell us all about it.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes, sir, Mike. The truth is, A, you can get the book right now. Go buy the book right now on Amazon.com or wherever books are sold. But this is so important for us to remember that the strongest, most powerful force for good on the planet has been the Judeo-Christian ethos that permeates in the soils of America in an unusual way. The brightest future we have, Mike. is tethered to our foundation. So when ordinary people take an extraordinary stance on behalf of others, great things happen. Think of the story of Dorothea Dix that I write in my book, One Nation Always Under God. This is a woman who took on the challenge of mental illness in America and changed the way that we care for those who are mentally challenged. Think about the story of Norman Burlog, a Christian farmer who prayed about it. worked on it and found inventive ways to increase crop production and is credited with saving more than a billion lives. Or the story of Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovell when he was in space 200,000 miles away from home and all things were going wrong in the space rocket. What did he do? He prayed about it. He found peace and clarity and saved the lives of all the astronauts on board. God bless the United States of America.
SPEAKER 06 :
And let’s not ever forget what kind of a country we are. The left wants us to forget it. They want to push God and prayer and faith out of the public square. And thanks to leaders like you, it isn’t going to happen. You know, I remember like it was yesterday. I was sent to Columbine hours after that mass shooting. And I went to what was outside the school. And, Senator, everywhere I went, on every corner, right outside that school facility, that high school, people were in the streets praying. That’s what instinctively people do. We turn to God during times of adversity. We turn to the Lord when we need his guidance, his strength, his goodness. And so that’s what this book is all about. It’s on sale, like you said, everywhere now. Amazon.com, One Nation, Always Under God. Senator Scott, I’m grateful for the book, and we appreciate your leadership. Keep fighting the good fight, and come back and visit with us as often as you can, sir.
SPEAKER 09 :
Thank you, Mike. Enjoy your long weekend in the Palmetto State.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’m on my way. I can’t wait. I’m flying a new airline because there’s not a lot of non-stops between Tampa and Greenville, but I found one, and I’ll be on Lake Kiwi this weekend, Senator, and I think I’m going to have the book waiting for me, so I’m going to start your book this weekend. Thanks, Senator. Great seeing you. Take care. You bet. God bless. Senator Tim Scott joining us. Yeah, there’s not a lot of nonstop flights. It’s so fun when there’s a nonstop. It’s a quick flight. Tampa to Greenville and the upstate. And I found an airline. There’s a nonstop new airline, new airport. I’m not sure about parking. I hear that this airport is a disaster with construction and… I don’t know. Say a prayer for me, but I’ll make it. I’ll be there. Hopefully I’ll be on the lake. We’re heading out to the Peace Center tonight to see a show that I love called Kimberly Akimbo. It’s a cute little musical, and it’s on tour. And a wonderful actress named Carolee Carmelo is playing the lead. Joey and Peg and I, we’re going to go see it tonight. We’re going to see Kimberly Akimbo at the Peace Center for the Performing Arts and then head to the lake this weekend. And can’t wait, cannot wait for my long weekend in the upstate. And I’ll be broadcasting from the studios of News Talk 98.9 WORD on Monday for a nice long weekend. Ph.D. weight loss has changed my life. And I’ve got a little secret for you. SPEAKER 04 :
He’s the happy conservative warrior. From the Relief Factor Studios, here’s Mike Gellinan.
SPEAKER 06 :
I often think about people we’ve lost, warriors of our sort of movement, of our industry, of our medium. And I think what they would be doing today in this crazy time we’re living in, when we see Democrats marching around supporting murdering young CEOs, open borders, Democrats fleeing Texas. Democrats supporting Hamas, a terrorist organization. I think about folks like Rush Limbaugh and what Rush would be saying today. I think about people like Andrew Breitbart, what Andrew would be doing with all of this material today. And the timing of our guest here is perfect because Alex Marlowe, who’s the editor-in-chief of Breitbart News… Two-time New York Times bestselling author. He was the first employee hired by Andrew Breitbart at the impressionable young age of 21 years old. Alex has gone on to be featured on the covers of Time Magazine, Newsweek, described in Forbes 30 Under 30 as maybe the most significant media figure in America. And he’s got a brand new book out that I cannot wait to crack. open. I’m not going to crack it. I’m going to crack it open. Breaking. This is amazing. Breaking the law, exposing the weaponization of America’s legal system against Donald Trump available where books are sold. Alex Marlowe, how great it is to welcome you back to the Mike Gallagher show. How are you?
SPEAKER 01 :
Mike, it’s really great to be with you. You’ve such a terrific audience. You’ve earned your reputation. And this is one of the shows I want to do the most during this tour.
SPEAKER 06 :
That means a lot to me. Thank you. And coming from you, that’s high praise because you know how much I admire you. And let me just start before we talk about the book and where we are right now in August of 2025. What would Andrew be thinking about what’s happening now? Because the stuff he was tackling back in the day before his untimely death. The issues that he covered and the way he did it, the panache, the style, the intensity, you know what I mean? What would he be doing with this material that the Democrats are handing us on a daily basis today?
SPEAKER 01 :
I think he’d be having a blast, and I’ve thought about this exact question quite a bit during this week because a few things in the news cycle, one connects directly to the book, but everything else is sort of unrelated. I think about the Sidney Sweeney saga. Andrew was super fun. He had two modes, righteous indignation, which a lot of people know him for that, but also jocularity. He was really a fun guy. And the left just said, we’re going to give you the beautiful buxom blondes with blue eyes and great jeans, and you can just have them. And we’re just going to keep Lizzo and all that stuff. That’s what we’re going to do. And we’re going to call the hot blondes who are having fun, who seem to like this country, we’re going to call them Nazis, just make them de facto conservatives. Andrew would have been in hog heaven during this stuff. He dreamt of this. critical of the conservative movement for being too prudish and too uh and and scolds you know andrew was a family man he was loyal to his wife he had four kids but he thought we were too prudish on on the level and i think he would love that uh what i’m witnessing in texas i signed an interview with a guy his name’s not coming to mind but he’s a texas congressman on the bbc and they were asking him don’t you think it’s unfair that you guys are gonna redistrict gerrymander whatever it is And he said, I don’t care. I literally don’t care. I was elected by constituency to win, and that’s what we’re doing. We won, so we get to do this. And that’s the type of stuff Andy would have loved. Andy would have loved that stuff because we’re telling the truth. We’re speaking plainly. We’re fighting for our people, and we’re fighting against the forces that are trying to take down this country. And so I think he would really be delighting about the arc of the movement right now.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, my Andrew Breitbart story is that – and I can’t for the life of me remember any of the details of this movie. But I was invited to be like an extra in a movie. And what they were doing was they were having some, you know, so-called celebrity hosts and influencers or whatever you want to call us, whatever it is that we all do. And it was like in colonial America, and I had to wear like a white wig. And you may remember this because you were with Andrew, I think, at the time. But I had to wear like a white wig, and I was in the woods somewhere. I don’t even remember what the heck the movie was. It was so long ago. But Andrew was the extra the week before me. So as they were doing this movie, and it was an actual bonafide movie, but I don’t remember what the heck it was. I have completely blanked out, but all I remember is that Andrew was, he was in the white wig too, the white powdered wig and the colonial getup in the middle of the summer, in the middle of the woods somewhere. And the crew couldn’t stop talking about how fun he was and how delightful he was to be around. And, you know, people that just, But Breitbart, they don’t know. I mean, we don’t always know the personality of the people behind these big media sort of empires like you have. And they just loved him. They adored him. So that’s my sort of connection. And doggone it, I can’t remember what the movie was. I can’t remember where it was. Do you have any memory of that?
SPEAKER 01 :
Yeah, it’s ringing a bell. I think it was a David Zucker thing that he did where he was parodying… It was a colonial-type deal. Yeah. American Carol, was that it? Is that the one? Something, yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
It was something like… And it went to, like, North Carolina. I can’t remember. It went to the Carolina. We were in the woods. I remember it was hot as hell, and we were wearing these big wool costumes. But it was a bonafide movie, and they were picking little… Yeah, I’ve got to figure this out. I’m going to go back and kind of figure out what in the world I’ve got to do here to get more memory of this. But you’re right. I think Andrew would be having an absolute blast. He’d have the time of his life. I mean, look, these Democrats, they’re doubling down. Beto O’Rourke said that fleeing the state of Texas and hiding out in one of Big J.B. Pritzker’s hotel rooms is the highest form of public service.
SPEAKER 01 :
The heavily gerrymandered, obnoxiously gerrymandered Illinois, Illinois.
SPEAKER 06 :
And then meanwhile, and meanwhile, and then you got and then you got the governor of Massachusetts where there isn’t a single Republican represented saying, oh, you’re going to do it now. Republicans, we’re going to gerrymander some more in Massachusetts. What more can you do to Republicans in Massachusetts, Alex?
SPEAKER 01 :
I don’t know. But something that is really, I think, apropos here and germane to the topic of my book is that what did Andrew identify during his time? was that the left was controlling the country in a lot of ways through our cultural institutions, namely Hollywood, academia, and the establishment media. Now, we’ve completely destroyed the credibility of the establishment media. I actually opened Breaking the Law pointing this out by noting that Jeff Bezos, who owns the Washington Post, one of the storied papers in the country, says that journalism is the least trusted profession and the industry is basically dead as we knew it. Hollywood is basically just content for you and me. Now, no one’s going to movies. Few of them are woke now because the woke moment seems to be dying off at least to some degree. And they’re just creating content that we can play on talk radio and make fun of them. So we’ve neutralized those. But the problem is that the left opened up a couple of major new fronts. One is in the corporate boardrooms. They hijacked a lot of corporate boardrooms and made our corporations left at a moment where America got very highly corporatized, where we started to find ourselves showing allegiance to all these products like Apple and Facebook. It was a very bizarre thing. I always thought we were sort of the anti-corporatist to some extent in the country. And then we just had this big corporate moment right at the moment the left was a co-opting in the NFL. A lot of people really loyal to the NFL corporation. Just at the exact moment, they were very woke. It’s winding down, thankfully, but the left made a lot of progress in that regard. The other new front they opened up is lawfare. They took over much of the legal establishment and made it essentially a part of their political apparatus. They’ve been working on this. It’s been a years-long project, a decades-long project, and that really is the biggest threat to MAGA right now.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, and the book details the way they went after Trump. I have a theory that I want to bounce off of you because this weaponization of the courts and the judicial system, this lawfare, I think would have continued unabated until they did it to Trump. We’re partnering with our friends at the nonprofit relief agency, Food for the Poor, and rushing emergency relief kits to these flood-ravaged parts of the world. 128 people confirmed dead. Many, many more are still missing. As you know, President Trump and the First Lady visited the flood zone in Texas over the weekend. As you can hear, he was pretty emotional. You can hear in the sound of his voice about what he witnessed.
SPEAKER 02 :
They lost their child or two children and children. Just hard to believe what I’ve never seen anything like it. A little narrow river that becomes a monster.
SPEAKER 06 :
Now, as the president observed. We’re all grieving. There’s been such a terrible loss of life. Entire communities are still being impacted. There are flooded out homes. There are closed businesses. And there are many still displaced, and they desperately need your help. Now, there is a Help Texas banner on my website, MikeOnline.com, where you can make a secure online donation. Please help us rush emergency relief kits to Texas. These kits contain tarps, hygiene items, diapers, children’s activity materials, and other essentials needed to ease the crisis for these poor people. Food for the Poor, in coordination with a trusted partner in San Antonio, has responded to the central Texas flooding. Nobody responds like the Mike Gallagher audience. Right now, already $13,000 in the first day or two. of donations have come in. We have a sort of an unofficial goal of 40,000. In my heart of hearts, we’ll soar past that goal. Let’s support our fellow Americans. Let’s support the Texans who have been through so much. Please go to MikeOnline.com and click on the Help Texas banner. You can also phone in your donation. And a lot of people do that. Just call 844-860-HOPE. That’s 844-860-4673. Thank you for supporting these poor families who’ve been through so much. Let’s get emergency relief kits to as many people as we can, and let’s make sure that the Mike Gallagher Show once again is the torchbearer. the leader in sending as many materials as possible to these poor people. Again, you can go to MikeOnline.com and click on the Help Texas banner or call 844-860-HOPE, 844-860-4673. Tyler’s in Delaware. Tyler, welcome.
SPEAKER 04 :
Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 06 :
Visiting with Alex Marlowe, editor-in-chief of Breitbart News. And you mentioned the podcast. And look, I get to go under the hood here at All Things Salem. And the Alex Marlowe Show is a bona fide hit. It’s a podcast that’s a joint production of the Salem Podcast Network and the Breitbart News Network. And it’s a must. I engage with it every single chance I get. It’s terrific. And truly, Alex, I consider you one of the most important voices for common sense and freedom and clarity in America. And I’m thrilled about the book, Breaking the Law, Exposing the Weaponization of America’s Legal System Against Donald Trump. I have to ask you, do you think the dam is, is the dam breaking? Is the substantive change that we’ve been praying for for many years occurring under this leadership? Because it seems to me that in the first six or seven months of this Trump presidency, we have seen such change Such epic change and such enormous force of positivity. It kind of takes my breath away. I’ve been at this a long time, many decades. I’ve sat behind a microphone. There’s nothing like this. Are you as confident and are you as optimistic as I am?
SPEAKER 01 :
This is a – I’ll give you a two-part answer. The initial answer I have is a hearty absolutely, that we’ve been praying for this. We’ve been working for this. People like me, I’ve been in the trenches for almost two decades on this, you for much longer. We’ve never seen this level of victories getting racked up in a row. We’ve never seen a fun and fearless – conservative base like we have right now that is a deep positive but part of the reason why i did the book is i wanted to do a warning for people first of all it’s a primer on all those cases against trump there are six of them they were almost impossible to keep straight even for a incredibly smart person who reads the news all day and not only did donald trump have to keep them straight he had to win them he either had to win these cases all of which were illegitimate you’ll find out all of which were coordinated by the biden white house which should be illegal and should be investigated, but in order to survive that and then campaign from the courthouse when you were getting politically persecuted and win the election is such a stunning feat, we have not had a chance to really take in how remarkable that was. But the fact that that was possible, that the standard bearer of an American political party, a former president and a future president, would be targeted by our own government in order to try to prevent him to becoming president, and no one seems to be investigating it, no heads have rolled, that is a warning to everyone in this space that we cannot wait a minute. We cannot rest a day. There’s no off-seasons anymore. There’s no peacetime anymore. The left is at war with us, and it is a civil war, as Dennis Prager likes to say, thank God, for the most part, occasionally violent, but mostly peaceful. But we need to be on that wartime footing because one of the solutions I recommend We have to win every single election. We can’t lose one. All those judge races that you’re maybe a little too lazy to start understanding. We need to get in the weeds and everything. We need to be fired up. We need to be recruiting people. Everyone who maybe is more of a passive voter, maybe their pet issue has not been addressed yet in all the great things that Trump’s accomplished so far. You need to stick with us and you need to stay in the game because the left is trying to destroy this country and they’re using whatever means necessary to do that.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, this redistricting issue this week has been so enormous because if you look at the possibility of the Supreme Court ruling favorably on the unfair redistricting, if you look at these handful of states that are committed to redistricting, and you look at Trump’s announcement yesterday that he’s ordering a fair census, not a census that includes millions of illegals, Alex, the Democrats could lose between 20 and 40 seats in the House of Representatives. If they lose 40 seats in the House of Representatives, they’ll never be in the seat of power again.
SPEAKER 01 :
This is such a big deal because we cut the census based off of residents. Now, you don’t necessarily get to vote, particularly in federal elections. And I know this out in California, that California, when you walk around, you talk to people, it doesn’t feel quite as left as we vote. It was shocking to me when you get some of the some of the election results we’ve had, considering how when you talk to you, there’s a lot of normal people. The state with the most Republicans. in the country. And so you start thinking, well, then why is everything so off? One of the many reasons is that we have too many Democrat seats because of the census, which counts illegal alien residents, which it shouldn’t. And that is, of course, lawless. And the Democrats have no regard for law and order, a concept I unpack in great detail. They hate law and order. They resent it. They think it’s an impediment for them getting their way. And we, on the right, we need to be stewards of the Constitution. We need to be stewards of law and order. And what Trump is doing is actually trying to restore that. So this is to be deeply celebrated and to be cheered on. And when the left comes after him for it, we’ve got to stand with him.
SPEAKER 06 :
Look, this is a book that everybody needs to get their hands on, Breaking the Law, Exposing the Weaponization of America’s Legal System Against Donald Trump, wherever books are sold by the great Alex Marlowe. And I mean that, Alex. I have such admiration for you and the work you’ve done over the years. So honored that you’re doing the podcast with us here at Salem. I can’t believe you’re going to bring this. Now, let’s first of all stipulate before you say one more word. We never talk about anything. and I have never had this conversation. We’ve never talked about this. Nope. You are not going to believe what I’m going to tell you in response to, oh, you’re not going to believe this. Because my head blew up last month. Yes, at Hertz. Did this happen to you? I got a letter. You had a ding in the side of the car.
SPEAKER 05 :
You owe us $700. Well, we all know if you get a ding, you get the bill. But I didn’t have a ding. Oh, hmm. No, I didn’t. Here’s the big reveal. Hang on. We’re bogging down. Go ahead. Go back and tell the story. It’s part of our charm.
SPEAKER 06 :
Because it is their new system that they explained to me is why I got the notification.
SPEAKER 05 :
Before you rent the car, they send it through something that looks like a laser car wash. Right. Right. And that AI thing just scans every square millimeter of that car, and then they hand you the car. And when you bring the car back, they put it through the AI scanner again. And the AI meticulousness notices a millimeter thingy in the left front quarter panel, and you get a bill for $1,000. That’s crazy. Well, let me tell you why it’s crazy.
SPEAKER 06 :
I’ll give you an inside baseball explanation. The Hertz representative that I took it up with, because Karen Gallagher made a phone call. I went all Karen on them. Incidentally, when I say a ding, they said that the license plate was dinged. And that was like $75. They said there was a ding in the license plate. The door, they said, had a scratch. The bumper had a blah, blah, blah. Look… I’m very careful, and there was no dings. There was no nothing. The lady I spoke to was apologetic, and she said, Mr. Gallagher, this new AI system we’re using, it still has some bugs we have to work on.
SPEAKER 05 :
And you’re going to pay for those bugs. This is a shakedown. This is nothing but a shakedown.
SPEAKER 06 :
I told him, I said, I’m sorry, I love you. I’ll go to the place that tries harder. I’ll go over to Avis in a heartbeat. Because guess what? I ain’t paying a dime. I didn’t do anything. I don’t know what y’all are telling me. I didn’t pay it. I’m not going to pay it. But they hit you with a credit card. How do you mean I didn’t pay it? No, they sent me a bill. They didn’t just put it on the credit card. They sent you a bill. It’s a letter, and then you can dispute it. They give you the chance to dispute it. Oh, do they? They do. They give you a chance. And Karen disputed it. Karen was a big… Karen put his hair up in curlers and said, no way, get off my lawn, and I’m not paying this. And she said, now, look, I’m going to… This is going to sound braggadocious a little bit. I’m about as high a level… Kurtz has platinum.
SPEAKER 05 :
What grand poobah diamond level king of the universe are you? Platinum.
SPEAKER 06 :
And let me tell you what Kurtz platinum does for you.
SPEAKER 05 :
And let me tell you why it’s pretty cool. I’ve been in the gold club since like I’m 35. Well, That is in steerage compared to you, I’m sure.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, I hate to do a commercial for a non-advertiser, but let me tell you what Hertz offers with platinum. And this is the greatest perk in the world. Little known. I shouldn’t even get this out there because more people are going to compete with me now. When you’re platinum, you know how a lot of rental car centers are like nine miles from the airport? Yeah, indeed. And you’ve got to take the car to the garage that’s like a half hour from the airport, and then you load up on a bus, lug in your bags, and it’s always a pain in the neck. And then they drive you over to the terminal. You know what you get to do with that? Platinum? They have a person that will drive you back to the terminal and drop you off in front of the terminal. But the point is, if you’ve got a lot of miles racked up with a company like Hertz, maybe they gave me a little bit more dispensation than they would have given a lowly gold-level member like you.
SPEAKER 05 :
Now, do you know that the damages that were presented to you in this bill had been as the result of this AI robot examination of the car? Yes. Or did Biff from the garage come out and go, that license plate’s
SPEAKER 06 :
She told me it’s their new AI system that has a lot of kinks in it and a lot of bugs to work out.
SPEAKER 05 :
And I said, well, that’s an understatement. So I can confirm. Our advice to the consumer is fight it, and they’ll buckle. Well, they may or may not buckle.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, they may or may not, but they do give you an opportunity to dispute it. But see, the thing is, I think AI kind of, you know, I think they miss like a little dented license plate, which is one of the things they ding me for when they first do it. And then they see it when it comes back, when they do the AI again. And it’s just a system that needs a lot of refinement. Okay.
SPEAKER 05 :
As does all AI, which as we know and as we’ve identified every day of every week is getting better by the day. But there are still things, there are still moments, there are still video things, still things that it writes.
SPEAKER 06 :
Mark, I’m using chat to GPT all the time.
SPEAKER 05 :
Because it’s like having… an assistant who never sleeps that will Google a thousand things for you and shoot you a 700-word summary in three seconds or less. I’m right there with you. But every once in a while, it screws up. I was asking it something about some obscure race in some obscure year, and there was something I didn’t know, and it shot back an answer that contained something that I did know, and it was wrong. And I literally wrote it back and said it. didn’t you mean Ulysses S. Grant or something? Then it went, oh, I’m sorry, my bad. Like your drunk friend just Googled it and whoops.
SPEAKER 06 :
Axios has a big piece this morning at Axios.com how AI and ChatGPT has just graduated into a new level. They have just made a major breakthrough, and they said, consider it this way. ChatGPT is kind of like the linear equivalent of a college grad, right? Now they’ve refined it to somebody with a master’s degree, and it will spit out information that’s encyclopedic and… Look, in our business, I mean, I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag here, but we’re asked to do, like, monologues and speeches. No, don’t.
SPEAKER 05 :
We talk about this. Don’t ever let that thing. Don’t let a robot write a speech for you. Stop it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Don’t make me. Watch me. Watch me. Because you can tell it, you can teach it and train it to do it in your voice based on your own body of work. You can train it to say, look, do this three-minute little address that I’m going to give before the Kiwanis Club in Mike Gallagher’s voice using Mike Gallagher’s past points of view. My heart hurts. All day long. All day long. I’ll do that all day long. Why not? Why the heck not? God’s given us these tools. You’re like the guy with the floods around on top of the rowboat comes, and God sends you a rowboat. And you say, well, I’m going to do it myself. I can do that. God, why didn’t you save me? God, why didn’t you save me? God gave us chat GPT.
SPEAKER 05 :
He said, hey, I sent you a rowboat.
SPEAKER 06 :
He said, I sent you three rowboats, dummy. I mean, God gave us chat GPT. So why not take the tools God gave us?
SPEAKER 05 :
Not to get fat. and lazy and uncreative. I’m fat and lazy and uncreative. I’m just happy to be here.
SPEAKER 06 :
Hey, guys, MikeOnline.com. Wow. Hey, how about the New York Post takedown of Texas’ Pride and Joy, Jasmine Crockett? Did you read it? This is an article yesterday. She is a no-show boss from hell. She terrorizes her staff. Three sources who work for Jasmine Crockett say she’s rarely even showing up in the office when the TV cameras aren’t there. She lays around her apartment, won’t come into the office. She’s indifferent to staff, screams at them regularly, demands only an escalade. Has to be an escalade when the staff drives her around and chauffeurs her around. Boy, this… This is a piece of work. The word trash comes to mind.
SPEAKER 05 :
And is she just ripe for defeat? There’s a wonderful Republican gentleman named Sheldon Daniels who’s going to try to tee it up against her in a district that’s like Democrat plus 50. Is she beatable because she’s so crazy, or is she pretty well a rock star because of that? Well, I don’t know. She’s so crazy.
SPEAKER 01 :
I kind of do.
SPEAKER 05 :
The answer is rock star. God bless Mr. Daniels. I hope crazy things can happen. But the notion that her star is falling or any of this, she loves this. She loves that you and I are bagging on her. And I’m not saying don’t do it because it’s fun.
