SPEAKER 03 :
Wow, what an epic news day this is turning out to be. It’s Election Day 2025. You’ve got to get out and vote. More on that in just a moment. We’re going to see about whether the polls are going to be right or wrong. A lot of us are praying and hoping and trusting that the polls will be wrong again. Time will tell. The big news story of the day is the announcement that the former vice president of the United States, Dick Cheney, has died. He, of course, served two terms as vice president under George W. Bush. He died due to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease. And already social media is sort of blowing up. with commentary about what people think of the Cheney dynasty and the Cheney legacy. It’s no secret that Mr. Cheney, and particularly his daughter Liz, the former Wyoming Congresswoman, We’re no friends of MAGA or Donald J. Trump. Let’s bring in our newsman, Roger P. Shulman, and get this kind of this formal announcement. Roger, I have to comment. Before the show today, you and I were talking in the hallway, and you and I were both surprised. I really thought he was 90, 90-something years old, 84 years old, relatively young man. I thought he was older than that.
SPEAKER 01 :
Yes, I did, too, because he’s been in the news in politics since 1969 when he started as a congressional intern. He was a congressman from Wyoming for about 10 years. Then he became defense secretary. He was vice president. He was in the administrations of Wyoming. Nixon and Ford, and he, of course, was vice president. He was a heavy smoker in his youth, and he had his first heart attack, first of five heart attacks at age 37. And even with the problems he had with his heart and other difficulties, he was a top man, a very, very important man in the administration of George W. Bush. In fact, they considered him the COO, chief operating officer of his presidency. Now, he had a successful heart transplant in 2012, and he lasted this long. He also had a pacemaker for a while, and he was so afraid that the terrorists would hack it and send him a fatal shock. He had the remote control of that device disabled. So he was also in various locations during the attack. The terror periods, he and the president were always separated because of the possibility of a terrorist attack. And he was always kind of thought of as a Machiavellian person controlling things from some dark hole somewhere. And he kind of liked that. He thought it was better than being highly publicized. But he was highly publicized in the end and was a very influential member of our government for many, many years. before his dislike of MAGA and of President Trump.
SPEAKER 03 :
Roger P. Shulman, joining us from the newsroom. Thank you, my friend. I appreciate it. All right, let’s turn it over to you, 800-655-MIKE. I’m going to just lay this out. I am a believer that no matter who it is and what you think of somebody, I am mindful of how disrespectful it is to sort of trash somebody who just died. Now, look, there’s no mystery that former Vice President Cheney, former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, the Cheney family, I think in general, loathes Donald Trump. No doubt about it. I had a really great talk this morning with my friend Mark Davis about how we shouldn’t reward hate with more hate. In other words, do you hate people who hate Trump? I’ve been giving that a lot of thought today after the announcement of Dick Cheney’s death. I’m sure you know people who can’t stand President Trump. Does that mean you can’t stand them? Or can you sort of be more reasonable in your approach? I dare say more reasonable than they are because Trump derangement syndrome is real. as my friend Mark always puts it, Trump derangement syndrome takes smart people, makes them dumb, takes nice people, makes them mean, takes funny people and makes them unfunny. And that’s just the way it is. And this applies to the Cheney family in spades. They certainly suffer from Trump derangement syndrome. So I’m going to be a little bit hesitant in sort of being overly critical of Vice President Cheney. Because the truth of the matter is, we loved him until he went against Trump. We all loved him. You know it, I know it. Look, we loved Liz Cheney until she turned on Trump. And may I respectfully suggest that maybe there’s a little bit of a derangement syndrome on our part If we hate somebody because that somebody doesn’t like the 45th and 47th president of the United States. Does that make sense? Do you understand my point here? Do you understand what I’m trying to get to? I don’t hate somebody because they hate Trump. I know plenty of people who don’t like Donald Trump. Dick Cheney didn’t like Donald Trump. Liz Cheney didn’t like Donald Trump. Liz Cheney took that January 6th committee. It was a perversion. It was an abomination. It was ridiculous. It was a desperate, pathetic effort to rig a system against the man that America wanted to be elected president. We all know that. We all know that. But I just think we have to have a degree of grace… upon reacting to the news that Dick Cheney has died. Let me get your take here in the Relief Factor studios. I’ll throw the phone lines wide open to you. 800-655-MIKE. 800-655-6453. One number does it all. You could text us on the MyPillow text line. You could call us. I want to see if you agree with me that we ought to exercise a little bit of empathy, a little bit of grace. and be kind of above the fray on the announcement. And look, what I’m reading on social media, holy cow, people are going at him, guns blazing. And I just, I have to admit, that’s just not me. I don’t like that. I don’t like that at all. I don’t like what the Cheney family became when it came to President Trump, but I don’t think that means we ought to act like they do towards them.

SPEAKER 03 :
What a day. Tuesday, November 4th, 2025. Breaking news. Dick Cheney has died at the age of 84. Former vice president who, hey, we all loved until we didn’t when he, you know, decided to dive in and join the Trump Derangement Syndrome Club along with his daughter Liz, the former Wyoming Congresswoman. I hope that we have a little bit of compassion. I’m a big believer in not trashing somebody who has died immediately. There’s going to be time for analysis. Dick Cheney is sort of a study in What happens when establishment Republicans decide to turn on their own base? And that’s what happens with these folks. I heard a Salem News, a Salem Radio Network, rather, anchor this morning on SRN News and Town Hall describe the former vice president as a commanding… figure of the GOP establishment. And that’s a perfect way to describe him. It’s the GOP establishment that gave birth to Trumpism. It’s the kind of pushback that Americans said, no, it’s not going to be business as usual anymore. We need a different way. Now, there are young people in New York City who evidently don’t care about a communist, an Islamist, a Democrat socialist, as he proudly describes himself, Zoran Mamdani. I just saw an editorial from the Washington Post. They trash him like nothing. This is the Washington Post. Zoran Mamdani, they write, is on the cusp of becoming New York’s 111th mayor and perhaps its most radical. He could also fairly claim to be one of the country’s most influential Democrats, which makes the reasons for his rise relevant far beyond the Big Apple. Incidentally, that’s what I keep saying to people who say, Mike, why do you talk so much about the New York City mayor’s race? Well, because he will become one of America’s most influential Democrats. The Washington Post headline is, Zoran Mamdani’s success is a warning. Voters in New York have been repeatedly reminded about Mamdani’s long history of radical politics. This is a young politician, the Washington Post points out, who was born into a life of wealth and privilege. And from that perch, adopted a worldview centered around destroying the economic system that made his adopted country thrive. I mean, this is scathing, scathing stuff. And the message from the editorial board of the Washington Post is, we’ve got to do a better job of telling the free market story, both Republicans and Democrats. Supporters of free markets, they write, have failed to articulately make their case about And Mamdani’s success is a warning to business-friendly Democrats that they’ll have to do better. It’s not enough to say socialism is bad. Defenders of the American system have to show why people’s lives are improved by economic freedom and why many American failures are often the result of government intervention rather than a free market run amok. Curtis Sliwa, the Republican candidate, could have done that, but instead focused on animus for Cuomo and niche issues like no-kill animal shelters. The best outcome, says the Washington Post, would be for Mamdani to take a cautiously incremental approach and try pilot programs for his most radical ideas instead of immediately imposing them on the entire city. It seems that there are enough voters to put him in power. But if New Yorkers begin to flee in droves, it could force him to moderate. I don’t think people like Zoran Mamdani are inclined to be moderate on anything. I believe with all of my heart that the best choice for New York City is Curtis Sliwa. And I also believe that you need to do what your heart tells you to do. You’ve got to do the right thing. And let God sort it out. I don’t know what’s going to happen. Voters are going to get to decide. We’ve got to respect the voters’ decision. I said it repeatedly in 2016, 2020, 2024. You’ve got to do what your heart tells you to do, but you’ve got to respect the outcome. You may never go to New York again if this radical guy, if this lunatic on the far left gets elected mayor. Those are decisions you have to make. You may be planning to move out of New York City because it won’t be safe. This is a guy who hates the police. This is a guy who has absolutely supported defunding the police. This is a guy who thinks a social worker can defuse a volatile violence situation in one of the most dangerous calls for police, and that is domestic violence calls. Curtis Lewa is a law and order guy. Curtis Lewa is the only option. Andrew Cuomo is a scoundrel. Andrew Cuomo is certainly yesterday’s news. Andrew Cuomo is a guy who’s sort of a bitter reminder of things that go wrong in public office. So we’ll see. We’re going to find out. I don’t know where this goes. I don’t know what happens. I know that we ought to pray, and I know you’ve got to vote. You’ve got to show up. If you stay home anywhere in America, you are the problem. If you don’t exercise your constitutional right to vote, you’re the problem. It’s not the lunatic left that’s hijacked the Democrat Party. It’s not the Zoran Mamdani’s or the Omar Fatah’s of America. It’s you. The percentages of people that stay home are staggering. And you can’t let that happen. You can’t do it now. If you care about the country, if you love the country, you must do the right thing. And you’ve got to show up. I had a great conversation with my friend Mark Davis today about the Tucker Carlson, sort of Ben Shapiro, what a mess this is. Axios writes that Charlie Kirk’s assassination has really splintered a big part of the MAGA community. And it is kind of true that it feels like there are people now at each other’s throats saying, in a way that was probably not even thinkable prior to Charlie’s murder.

SPEAKER 03 :
It is Election Day, Tuesday, November the 4th, 2025. Of course, big breaking news. The former vice president, Dick Cheney, has died at the age of 84. I… I heard on SRN News this morning one of our anchors describe him as a commanding figure of the GOP establishment. And that speaks volumes, doesn’t it? Because that’s true. It’s probably what gave birth. The GOP establishment is what gave birth to the presidency of Donald Trump. And so, you know… I’m a big believer in not speaking ill of somebody who has just passed. Dick Cheney was a husband, a father, grandfather, and I prefer to let the family grieve. and save the political analysis over his passing for another time. I don’t think today is the day to do it, but that’s just me, and a lot of people have a different point of view, and I appreciate that, and I understand that. But again, that’s the big breaking story. On this election day, I want to take a couple of moments to talk about something that is the most important aspect of today, bar none. The time for debate is over. If you live in Virginia, if you live in Washington, if you live in New York City, if you live anywhere where these impactful elections are taking place, California with Proposition 50. which is Gavin Newsom’s sort of craven effort to grab more power for the Democrats and completely disenfranchise as many conservatives as possible. There is only one thing that has to happen today. And I’m speaking to you from the heart on this Election Day 2025. You have to show up. You have to go vote. One of the most appalling, shocking realities in American life is how few people bother to show up and vote on election day. I understand that in terms of ideology and positions on issues, I’m preaching to the choir. Look, I’ll stipulate that the vast majority of this audience is a right-of-center audience. if you’re far left, you probably wouldn’t give me the time of day. I understand that. Just like I don’t want to watch MSNBC, people on the loony left probably don’t want to listen or watch me. However, this audience of mainly center-right people or conservative people has the ability to move mountains. You do it all the time. We had an enormous… campaign for the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. In a couple of weeks, I’m going to start asking you to support the children of American prisoners through our prison fellowship Angel Tree Christmas campaign. And you always astound the powers that be with your response. you can do miracles. On Election Day, it’s not enough to just complain about the radical left and how they’ve hijacked the Democrat Party. If you don’t like it, do something about it. If you’re in Virginia and you don’t like the loony left and you don’t like the radicalization of today’s Democrat Party, show up and vote Republican. If you’re in New York City and you can’t believe a communist, socialist, Islamist, Could be mayor. Do something about it. Show up. Do you know the percentages of people who don’t show up on any election day, even the most powerful general elections, not midterms, not an off-year election like today, but just in general? I don’t even want to depress you with how few people show up to vote. Don’t be that statistic today. Don’t sit on the sidelines. Spare me the belly aching if you’re not willing to go cast your ballot. You’ve got to vote. You’ve got to make the effort. You’ve got to take an hour out of your day and drive to the polling place where there’s an election being held, and you’ve got to cast your ballot. You’ve got to vote. And if you vote, if you show up, we will win. Because look, a united right will always defeat a united left. Because there are way more of us than there are of them. I know they’re loud. I know they’re provocative. I know they’re shocking. But there are more of us than there are of them. But if we don’t exercise that power, if we don’t do what we need to do to fulfill that constitutional privilege of voting, we’re going to lose the country. It’s up to you. I can’t make it any clearer. It can’t be any more simple. Today is a day that you’ve got to be a person of action. And you’ve got to show up. You can’t just bellyache about the direction of this country. We have to fight and we have to win in the spirit of President Trump. We’re in my Trump tie today because I believe that miracles are happening in this country. Good things are coming. Good things are already occurring. And that’s largely based on the electorate. And that’s based on what you’ve been able to accomplish. If you don’t come through today, we’re in trouble. So that’s my message on this Election Day 2025. Show up. Get off the sidelines. Don’t just talk the talk. You’ve got to walk the walk. And you’ve got to be able to do so with conviction. Hold your head high. Walk into the polling place and cast your ballot. If you do that, we’re going to take this country. We’re going to take this country back from the radical… kooks and freaks and lunatics who are threatening to upend Western civilization. This is a battle for Western civilization. You know it and I know it. If we got a Mayor Mamdani, you’ll see what’s going to happen in New York. And it’s not just New York, it’s Minneapolis, it’s cities all over the country. Show up. Do your job. Do your part. And let’s celebrate. There’s a lot to come here on this busy Tuesday. I’ve got to tell you about South Carolina. There’s a really bizarre story out of my beloved South Carolina involving Congresswoman Nancy Mace. I’ve sort of tried to avert my eyes and avoid it, but I can’t any longer. We’ll bring you up to date on that and a whole lot more. We’re in the Relief Factor studios. Our number is 800-655-MIKE. The reason you have this standoff is because if the hundreds of billions of dollars to create a financial incentive to have this giant magnet to attract illegals from every part of Earth to these states, if that is turned off, the illegals will leave. Because they’re no longer being paid to come to the United States and stay here.
SPEAKER 06 :
In the Relief Factor studios on Salem News Channel and Salem Radio Network, here’s Mike.
SPEAKER 03 :
I woke up today and went through the different online sites, as I always do, to prepare the show, and I’ve been kind of absorbing all the drama regarding the supposed new shots fired in the war within MAGA. You may have heard that Ben Shapiro torched Tucker Carlson yesterday over Tucker’s interview with Nick Fuentes. In fact, over at the New York Post, Douglas Murray wrote a column, Conspiracy Kook Tucker Carlson is no conservative and no friend to Charlie Kirk and J.D. Vance. It feels like there have been a lot of people who’ve sort of unleashed their fury on Tucker, all because he interviewed Nick Fuentes and didn’t push back sufficiently. It’s worth noting that yesterday Tucker apologized to us Christian Zionists He did say he hated them most in the world. He now is saying that he spoke in anger, and he regrets saying what he said, adding that some of the kindest people he knows are Christian Zionists. Now, all of this is sort of bubbling over after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. And I appreciated what Axios wrote about how many feared that Charlie’s assassination would tear apart the country. Axios says instead it’s ripping apart some of MAGA’s biggest celebrities. Well, no, they were right in the first place. Charlie’s assassination has, in large measure, ripped apart the country. No way around it. And because we are the majority of the country, it might be 51 or 52 percent. I suspect it’s closer to 55 or 60 percent. But we are Trump supporting right of center. Americans are the majority ideology in this country. So, yes, Charlie’s assassination has ripped apart the country. And I wanted to try to get some insight into the popularity of Nick Fuentes. A lot is being written by establishment types, I might add, about the anti-Semitic sort of influence of people like Nick Fuentes into MAGA world. And I wanted to turn to our co-producer, Christian Russell. Christian’s 29 years old. And he follows this stuff pretty religiously and pretty closely. And yesterday I had a conversation during the show. Actually, it was two days ago. I had a conversation with Christian about the influence of Nick Fuentes and why a guy like him is so popular. I wanted to share my conversation that I had with Christian with you to give us a little insight into how this has unfolded. Christian is a 29 year old New Yorker. You tell me about your take on the whole Nick Fuentes phenomenon, because you’re the one that I kind of lean into and I rely on to help me understand what Gen Zers are thinking and feeling and saying. And look, you’re the one that’s pointed out to me. This guy’s a lot more popular than us boomers want to let on.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, well, so I think I’ll first start with the idea of censoring someone like Nick Fuentes. One, so his whole platform and popularity grew out of him being deplatformed and censored. So he’s the first person to not be verified on X to have a million followers. That happened, the vast majority of that, while he was deplatformed and censored. His Rumble, he’s the second most streamed person on Rumble behind Alex Jones. Both of those people deplatformed, censored, taken offline, kind of had all that accomplishment without any kind of perpetuating by mainstream media, quote-unquote, whatever that means. But all that to say that this popularity existed before any sort of highlighting by Tucker Carlson or anybody like that. And now it’s just Streisand effect. Now the more that we’re highlighting it, it’s perpetuating a cycle of popularity. But the reason that Nick Fuentes and people like him are popular in the first place is because they’re taboo provocateurs. It’s edgy and it’s cool. It’s like punk rock, you know? It’s underground and it’s something that… is created with the mythos of it, the more that that’s fed into it, then the more it’s paid off. And it’s ironic and cool and edgy to be into it because it makes people PO’d. People want… The reaction. We live in a reactionary society now. So the more of a reaction you could get out of Randy Fine or Ted Cruz, the more dividends you’re paying to the power of a Nick Fuentes. So it’s kind of like an ironic shakedown by internet trolls, you know? Continuously making someone like Nick Fuentes more… somebody like Tucker Carlson’s platforming of him isn’t necessarily making him more palpable. It’s honestly just proving the point that Internet trolls can get under anyone’s skin, and that’s the power that they really have, the cultural currency of making people PO’d.
SPEAKER 03 :
You know, I’m thinking about your description of Nick and Candace and other, even Tucker, I guess, to a degree, as provocateurs, and that edginess, that tabooness, That’s what makes them popular. But in a way, to kind of bring this thing full circle, it’s kind of Trumpian. When you think about it, Trump came along and was edgy and said taboo things and talked about the media in a way nobody ever had. And they did their best to de-platform him.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, and that’s, like, as a young guy who, like, leans right on some issues, you know, like, one thing I really liked about kind of, like, the conservative Republican Party was the idea of not squandering people based off their ideas and their speech. Yeah. So, I mean… I’m not a perfect case example of anything, but I do think I speak for a lot of people my age where it’s like that’s one thing, especially during COVID, where the Republican Party did well was to not censor and stifle speech and people and these kinds of things done by like the. kind of party apparatus is sort of a signal against the exact thing that is appealing for people like me.
SPEAKER 03 :
So it’s a double-edged sword. Yeah, I mean, and you agree with me, I take it, the way to handle this is to engage, not to try to continue to deplatform and silence people and stifle them.
SPEAKER 02 :
Oh, yeah, totally, because the more you try to just cover it up, the more anyone’s interested in watching it. Like me, I never really cared about Nick Fuentes, but he’d pop up, and he’s an engaging guy. You could watch his clips and understand what people find funny about him or whatever, but then it becomes oversaturated when it goes… I don’t know, on the mainstream, I guess. It becomes less interesting, and I don’t care. No one really cares except for the people that are really into it.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yep, yep. All right. Thank you, Christian. I appreciate very much Christian’s perspective on all of this, and it also gives me a great opportunity to just remind you how lucky we are to have a team like the team the Mike Gallagher Show has, with Christian Russell and Tracy Stockwell producing the show, co-producing together, and just doing such an incredible job.
