Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. It’s Friday, November 14th, 2025. I’m Eric Hansen, and this week, President Trump trips up the BBC, comedian Rob Schneider loves a Trump hater, and Antifa turns up at UC Berkeley. Let’s begin in Washington, D.C., where the longest government shutdown in history finally came to an end.
SPEAKER 01 :
After last Tuesday’s election victories for the Democrats, suddenly all the momentum is back with the Trump administration and the GOP. Just like that. There were seven Democrats and an Independent who broke ranks from the Democrat Party last night in the Senate, crossed the aisle, and voted to end the shutdown. Going to have the clean CR. Continuing resolution. People are going to get paid again. Air traffic controllers are going to get paid. SNAP benefits resume. And just like that, the Democrats snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. And boy, are they melting down. Oh my gosh. They are flipping out on the left side. Here’s cut number seven over on MSNBC. It was a good night last night to watch CNN and MSNBC. And I have to say that over on CNN, I was just going up and down the dial because Fox News strangely didn’t, and Newsmax and One American News, they weren’t really in live, in real time on top of the voting because it was delayed and Cornyn got held up at the airport and it took a while to get it all done. So I was watching CNN and MSNBC a lot. MSNBC was just MSNBC, melting down, freaking out. Over on CNN, there was a young guy named Polo somebody, or Polo Sandoval, I think is his name. It was really good. In fact, when he interviewed Scott Jennings, our colleague here at Salem last night on CNN, it was like a really good exchange of Scott pointing out that there were no Republican concessions given on the continuing resolution. So you do realize now, everybody now knows that the Democrats could have done this 40 days ago and no one would have felt the kind of pain that Americans have been feeling thanks to the Democrat-inflicted shutdown. You understand last night proved it, right? We get that. We now know what a bunch of liars the Democrats have been in trying to blame Trump and the Republicans for this shutdown. Oh, polling suggests… Take your poll and put it where the sun don’t shine. Because last night, eight, and I will call them brave individuals, seven Democrats and Angus King, crossed the line, crossed the aisle, broke ranks, left the reservation of pain and violence and misery and said, we’ve got to get this country open again. And you’ve got to give them all the credit in the world. I get we can be cynical. Hey, give credit where credit is due. Good for them. Good for them. Over on MSNBC, they’re not taking it too well. They’re kind of flipping out. They’re melting down. And they’re recognizing in shock and horror that Trump won again.
SPEAKER 07 :
To go back to the original sort of part of this conversation of whether he is a good dealmaker. I mean, a way it seems like the president is kind of getting what he wanted 40 days ago when all this started. He was out there saying that, oh, this is all about Democrats trying to give health care to illegal immigrants. He just said that to reporters moments ago, repeated that refrain. The Democrats had actually very successfully pushed back against. Then there’s all this energy in the wake of the election on Tuesday. The president made remarks saying basically, wow. Republicans are being harmed by all of this, acknowledging that he was on his back foot. And now here he is winning again. How did he do it?
SPEAKER 01 :
How did this happen? Trump’s winning again. Oh, yeah. Like normal people decided to do a normal thing. Normal people didn’t want to play politics on the backs of air traffic controllers and cops and members of the military and poor people who need food stamps. Look, this is a battle between normal and abnormal.
SPEAKER 12 :
Democrats around the country raged this week at their party leaders who caved after a 40-day filibuster and got absolutely nothing in return, which begs the question, is it time to dump the filibuster?
SPEAKER 01 :
The Democrats are melting down in a big way. They’re livid that the government shutdown is going to come to an end. They wanted to inflict as much damage and pain as humanly possible. Listen to Scott Jennings last night, our Salem colleague on CNN, pointing out that the Democrats are proving that this, one, was a Democrat shutdown, and two, they’re angry that the pain for hardworking Americans is about to end.
SPEAKER 08 :
Democrats are willing to make people suffer. And you heard Democrat after Democrat today say, well, we just couldn’t prolong the suffering. So they admit that their political tactics were designed to inflict suffering on the American people. We also learned about cynical politics in this.
SPEAKER 01 :
He’s right. The cynicism is at an all time high on the part of the so-called moderates. Ro Khanna. Oh, my gosh. If I hear one more time what a moderate Ro Khanna is, he’s not a moderate. He’s an angry, far-left, partisan hack who went on Don Lemon’s show yesterday. to call out Democrat Party leadership. In other words, people like Ro Khanna believe that it’s a failure of leadership on the Democrat side that is leading to SNAP benefits being restored, that is going to let people get back pay for all the hours they put in for free. that’s going to get our veterans paid, our members of the military paid, going to get air traffic controllers paid, cops, military. Again, poor people are going to get food stamps again. And the left is angry about that. People like Congressman Ro Khanna are mad at their leadership for allowing a good thing like the government reopening again to occur.
SPEAKER 04 :
It’s mind-boggling. It’s just people who are out of touch, who don’t understand the political moment that we’re in. Look, the good news is there’s a new generation of leaders. Zoran Mamdani won, Abigail Spanberger won, Mikey Sherrill won. There are people who get it. You know, someone jokingly, or maybe it was serious, described me as a backbencher calling for Schumer as a ouster. Some people who like me came to my defense saying, no, he’s not a backbencher. I said, no, the problem is those of us in the back need to get to the front. This party needs a change in the leadership.
SPEAKER 01 :
Did you notice how he slipped up with his buddy there, Don Lemon, and said, the political moment we are in, that echoes what other Democrats have slipped up and admitted to. The shutdown was our shutdown because that’s our leverage. That’s our leverage. We needed to leverage the pain of the American people. This was a brazen, ugly, damaging, intentionally imposed misery. It reminds me of COVID and the lunatic lockdowns that they came up with. And the way they put people out of business, firing people if they didn’t want to get a vaccine, destroying people’s lives, ending people’s businesses, family businesses that in many cases have been in their family for generations. There are businesses that have never come back. All because of the draconian, outrageous lockdown tactics of the Democrat Party. Well, that’s what they saw the shutdown in. They like to be in this space. I don’t know how you negotiate with people like this. I just don’t. I’d like to try. I’d like to try to rise above the anger and the bitterness. But I’m going to tell you right flat out, we’ve got to get rid of the filibuster. We’ve got to enact President Trump’s agenda. And as long as there are activist rogue federal judges who are going to continue to try to block the Trump agenda from moving forward, as long as they get to hide behind the filibuster and the 60 vote threshold, a lot of what Trump wants to get done isn’t going to get done. Check out Senator Roger Marshall from Kansas on Fox News yesterday pointing out how he’s kind of come around on the issue of abolishing the filibuster.
SPEAKER 10 :
Every day that the shutdown goes on, the more I’m convinced we need to end the filibuster. And as I do my math here, the same Democrats that some of my colleagues are counting on to protect the filibuster are the same Democrats who are afraid to come across the aisle and open the government. Just two years ago, every every senator, Democrat senator that’s still in office that’s here today voted to end the filibuster. Unless you can guarantee to me that the Democrats won’t do it, then we need to seriously consider it. You know, the only other option I can think of is enshrining it as a constitutional amendment. But this absolutely should be the conversation and the debate today for the Republican caucus.

Progressive radio talk show host Stephanie Miller absolutely loves Texas Democrat Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. She certainly has an odd way of showing it.

Stephanie Miller is a progressive leftist radio talk show host, been around for a long time. She posted a picture of herself kissing the feet of Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett of Texas. As the Blaze reports, the online response was not very supportive. She posted a picture of her and this lunatic Jasmine Crockett. And, man, she is. She’s like a cartoon character. That’s the most charitable way I can describe Jasmine Crockett. And she feels very emboldened by a communist getting elected mayor of New York. The loonies are strutting around now thinking, this is our future. Here we go. And Stephanie Miller posted on social media, why, yes, I did kiss the sneakers of Jasmine Crockett, and I do worship the ground she walks on. And she was lovely about it. The Blaze reports how many saw the bizarre interaction as a perfect analogy for the way Democrats worship their politicians. Think about what would happen if somebody kissed the feet of Trump. Do you realize what the media would be doing? They would have a seizure. They’d lose their minds. Here are some of the comments on social media for Stephanie Miller, who bragged about kissing Jasmine Crockett’s feet. One person wrote, if you’re a human being who kisses the feet of another human being, you’re an embarrassment to the human race. You’re disgusting. Another detractor wrote, politicians represent us. They’re not to be worshipped, and the fact that she allowed it tells you a lot. Another response, social media poster wrote, this is the type of thing only boomer liberal white women think is cool. Everyone else thinks you’re weird as crap. That’s a cringe moment. Crockett, by the way, has said that she’s thinking about seeking an even higher office because it would be karma against the Republican redistricting effort in Texas. She’s a piece of work, man. That Jasmine Crockett. And the one comment really rings true. I guarantee you Jasmine Crockett loved it. Guarantee you she loved a white woman kissing the feet of a strong, angry black woman like Jasmine Crockett. She says, I don’t take S from anybody. Yeah, she’s a real fighter, all right. And there’s Stephanie Miller bragging about kissing her feet. Maybe being playful. Look, it may have just been an attempt at a joke. This is the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. I’m Eric Hansen. Over in the United Kingdom, two top BBC executives resigned this week after a scandal over deceptive editing in a documentary about January 6th. When CNN reported the story, well, they still didn’t get it.
SPEAKER 01 :
There’s a couple of executives at the BBC who are not having a very good day. They resigned. over a documentary that the British Broadcasting Corporation produced about President Trump on January 6th. President Trump is seeking to hold the BBC responsible for what he calls false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements. And it has to do with deceptively editing Trump’s speech on January 6th. Now, this is an issue that has stuck in my craw ever since January 6th happened. Everybody in the legacy media, not only over at the BBC, but even here, refuses to include the exculpatory thing that Trump said that day. They never include… his sentence about peacefully and patriotically letting your voice be heard. So the BBC did some documentary about January 6th, and they edited it in such a way to make it look like he was inciting violence on January 6th. He did nothing of the sort. In fact, he actually was encouraging people to peacefully and patriotically just let their voices be heard. He wasn’t encouraging any violence. And it was one line, admittedly, only one, but an important one, because it’s a reminder that he was not inciting violence. Now, I want, first of all… Let’s go back to that day and what he said. I’ve played this clip a million times. You know that. You’ve heard it. If you’re a longtime fan of the show, you know how often I’ve played this. And the reason I play it so much is because the mainstream media here never does. Every movie that’s ever been made, every TV show, every accounting of that day in American history, January 6th, when hundreds of people rioted, every account of that leaves out this.

Now, that is never included in any accounting of January 6th. And evidently, this BBC documentary… Did the same thing, right? So last night, I’m channel surfing and I got CNN on. And Brian Stelter pops up to report on this story about the BBC. I want you to hear every second of Brian Stelter’s reporting. This is probably not going to surprise you. But in covering the story about the way the BBC deceived its viewers and gave the impression that Trump encouraged violence. You pay attention to this three-minute report from Brian Stelter over on CNN and see if you hear him ever acknowledge that Trump encouraged his supporters to peacefully and patriotically let their voices be heard. Listen carefully to this guy’s report.

A huge media shakeup this hour as two top leaders of Britain’s television network, BBC, say they are resigning after allegations the British Broadcasting Corporation made a misleading edit of a speech by President Trump. I want to go straight to CNN chief media analyst Brian Stelter. Brian, tell us more about what what happened.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, there’s both a. There’s both a narrow story here about this edit and then a very big story about the state of the British broadcasting system. Fred, it’s very notable, both Tim Davey, who is the chief executive of all of the BBC, as well as Deborah Ternes, who’s the head of BBC News. They are both stepping down this afternoon, this evening in the UK, and they are both citing this recent controversy, but also the broader climate the BBC operates in. So about the edit, this row actually started about a week ago after a British newspaper got a hold of an internal memo describing a misleading edit that was made to a documentary that aired last fall, right before the U.S. Election Day. This documentary was about Trump’s attempt to return to office, and it spliced together two different parts of Trump’s infamous speech at the Ellipse on January 6th, 2021. So the documentary made it sound like Trump was telling his supporters that he was going to walk with them to the Capitol to, quote, fight like hell. Trump actually said that day he was going to walk with them to the Capitol to cheer on Republican lawmakers. Of course, Trump never actually made that walk. He did refer repeatedly to fighting that day, but the edit was misleading in this documentary. But here’s the thing. The documentary was shown on the BBC last year. Nobody seemed to notice this misleading edit at the time. It was only in the past few days when this internal memo was leaked that that there became a big political controversy, both in the UK and here in the US, with some of Trump’s friends and allies deriding the BBC. Caroline Levin, for example, calling the network fake news. So within the company, there was pressure on the BBC to apologize, to take action. And now this weekend, we see the two top leaders both stepping down. But there’s a broader context here. It’s not just about one edit to one documentary. The BBC has been under immense political pressure in the UK for some time. And when you’re the head of the BBC, it feels like you are a punching bag, whether it’s over coverage of Israel’s war in Gaza, whether it’s over dramas or comedies that are airing on the schedule, whether it’s over all sorts of different things. And Tim Davey, in his resignation memo, refers to the feverish nature of the environment, saying that he’s had a wonderful time for five years running the organization, that the board was still supporting him, but he’s decided to start to step down. Still a very dramatic move at the BBC, which is known for everything from dramas like Traitors all the way to the BBC News operation that exists all around the world. Quite unusual to see the two top leaders of that news organization both stepping down under pressure.
SPEAKER 01 :
I want you to hear the whole report and see the whole thing. That’s the chief media guy at CNN. deceiving CNN viewers. Because when he got to the part about what Trump did say, all he reported was that Trump said he was cheering on lawmakers and fighting like hell. He couldn’t bear to admit that Trump actually said, I know you’ll peacefully and patriotically let your voice be heard.
SPEAKER 12 :
Antifa staged a protest outside a Turning Point USA event in Berkeley, California this week. Are these increasingly violent protests a sign of something worse to come?
SPEAKER 01 :
One thing I’m calling on him to deal with is this Antifa leftist violent youth brigade that is emerging in this country. And this is real. This is some scary stuff. You see what happened to the Turning Point protest? kids at UC Berkeley? I mean, I get that it’s Berkeley, but on the other hand, that doesn’t excuse getting to riot and assault kids who are gathering to honor Turning Point. I really worry, and I wonder if you share my concern and the concern of others, like Joe Rogan. that we might be headed towards a civil war. I mean, when I saw the video of Monday night’s riots outside UC Berkeley, all because a group of kids got together to honor Charlie Kirk, he was supposed to be the keynote speaker at UC Berkeley Monday night. Of course, they killed him. It’s not enough that they killed him. Now they want to continue to mock his widow. They want to taunt and disparage him. And I mentioned Joe Rogan. I share his concern that when we see this kind of justified violence, when we see Democrats advocating for political violence against their enemies… There’s going to be a point where people on our side are going to say enough is enough and we’re going to take matters into our own hands. And that, of course, could lead to a civil war. Here’s what Joe Rogan said on his podcast.

Charlie Kirk gets shot and people are celebrating like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You want people to die that you disagree with? Like, where are we right now on the scale of one to two civil war? Where are we? Are we at seven? Because I thought we were five. I thought we were like four, four or five. But after Charlie Kirkdown, I’m like, oh, we might be like seven. This might be like step seven on the way to a bona fide Civil War. As soon as you start regular people celebrating somebody getting murdered in front of their wife and kid on television in front of the whole world, as soon as you celebrate that, man, you’re in dark territory. You’re in dark territory. And if the worst thing you can say about that guy is that he said some things I disagree with, and you’re celebrating that he got shot in the neck in front of the world… Whoa, and you work at an insurance company? This is nuts. And you thought it was okay to say that on Instagram? This is nuts. This is nuts.

He’s right. He’s right. I saw these crowds at UC Berkeley. You know what the scary part is? They were a bunch of boomers screaming. F your dead homie. F your dead homie. Charlie was a fascist. And these were like little old ladies with their stupid, you know, nose rings and purple hair. But they weren’t just Antifa rioters. These were like somewhat normal looking people. I wonder if you think Joe Rogan is right.

President Trump turned up in the broadcast booth at the Washington Commanders game last week. The announcers committed the unpardonable sin of treating him like the world leader that he is.
SPEAKER 01 :
He goes up to the NFL, the Fox broadcast booth, and you know the Trump haters are losing their mind over this. They don’t want him, what they call, they use the word normalize. Was it Jimmy Fallon that mustered his hair years ago, and the left went after Jimmy Fallon? How dare you make him look normal and fun and friendly? You know, whether you hate the guy or not, or love the guy, he’s one of the funniest guys you’ll ever meet. He is fun. He is playful. And he is, I wouldn’t call him normal. I mean, he’s not a radical lunatic. Here he was in the broadcast booth yesterday, the NFL on Fox.

So, Ronald Reagan, well before becoming president, he was a sportscaster. That’s right. He called Big Ten football. He called Iowa football games. Would you like to call a play?

Well, I would like to do that if you’d like me to. But I will say that your second string, your backup quarterback is a good quarterback. And he’s had some very good games for you. And your first string quarterback has the potential, I think, to be a great quarterback. He’s got to stop the injuries somehow. And let’s see. We have a very important, I think it’s a very important couple of plays. Here we go. Second and seven. Second and seven. Let’s see what happens. Well. All right. Not bad. Takes it down to the five-yard line. That’s right. That’s right. Good runner. There we go. This is a very big play, don’t you think?

I mean, it was such a great moment. And it’s like, that’s the way it’s supposed to be. He is the president of the United States. And he is playful. And he does have fun. And the left is losing its mind. And look, I’m not a vindictive person. I don’t want them to lose their mind. I want them to relax. You know, I heard from somebody over the weekend, somebody who’s a Democrat, completely convinced that the Supreme Court was going to overturn same-sex marriage today. They were going to take the case, the Kim Davis appeal, the Kentucky court clerk. And the Supreme Court, without comment, rejected the appeal. Obergefell is not going to be overturned. Gay marriage is here to stay. And this person was frantic and worried for nothing.

And finally, comedian Rob Schneider recently performed at a Turning Point USA event. He shared with the crowd a recent encounter with famed actor and notorious anti-Trumper Robert De Niro. His answer to De Niro’s anger was the perfect response to Trump derangement syndrome.
SPEAKER 01 :
Now, I want to share, I met Rob Schneider a few months ago at an event we were both at. And he’s a delightful guy. Of course, he was a Saturday Night Live star. Went on to do a lot of movies. And he’s a funny guy. And he’s MAGA. He’s pro-Trump. And he talked about – he was doing stand-up somewhere. I saw this clip on X. I wanted to share it with you. He talked about an event where they were – I think it was the big anniversary party for Saturday Night Live. Our friend and colleague Joe Piscopo, of course, was there. And all the guest hosts gathered along with all the former stars of Saturday Night Live for one night, including – the infamous Trump-hating Robert De Niro, who is admittedly an American treasure when it comes to the acting world, but he’s a lunatic when it comes to all things Trump. So Rob Schneider… told the story of bumping into Robert De Niro at this event. And Rob’s take on this was so refreshing, and I can kind of relate to it. I want to share a similar thing that I had with some actors and about my politics. So anyway, check out Rob Schneider.

Everybody in the crowd’s a cast member or used to host a show. So we all get up and we start making our way to the stage. Will Ferrell’s pushing me. Oh, geez, Will, come on. De Niro’s right there. Please, please, I don’t want to deal with this. I don’t want to deal with this right now. So we start making our way to the stage. It’s really crowded. And finally, I’m right behind De Niro, right behind him. And then finally, somebody pushes me into De Niro. And De Niro turns around and he’s like,
SPEAKER 14 :
Schneider, how could you support that schmuck? Trump is a schmuck. How do you support that? He’s turning the whole country into schmucks. Schneider, I thought you were smarter than that.
SPEAKER 03 :
And I swear to God, the only thing I could think of at the time was, Robert De Niro knows who I am. I swear to God, I looked right at him and I said, I love you. I love you. No, I really love you. I love you. I swear to God, he looked right at me and went like, okay, okay. That’s the only way to handle this. We’re never going to be able to out-cancel the cancel culture. They’re better at it than us. The people outside, you got to love them. And I love them. I love them. I wish them the best. I hope they come around.
SPEAKER 01 :
He’s talking about the protesters outside his concert, his event. He said, the people outside, I love them. And look, I know that we’re at a point where we’re butting heads with each other and we’re not getting along. And look, I don’t know how to get along with people who want to hurt Americans the way many Democrats want to hurt Americans. It sickens me. I mean, here’s a headline from Hot Air that kind of sums up the week we’ve been witnessing. Liberals are angry and horrified that the SNAP benefits are being restored. And they are. I mean, they’re raging against the government opening up again.
