(Worthy News) – Bible sales reached historic highs in both the United Kingdom and the United States in 2025, according to newly released industry data, pointing to a growing re-engagement with Christian faith amid global uncertainty.

In the U.K., physical Bible sales more than doubled between 2019 and 2025, rising 106%, according to research by Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK). Sales climbed from £2.69 million ($3.6 million) in 2019 to £6.3 million ($8.4 million) last year, with year-on-year growth of 27.7% from 2024 to 2025. The English Standard Version, published by Crossway, was the most purchased translation.

SPCK CEO Sam Richardson said the sustained growth reflects what he described as a “Quiet Revival,” noting increased interest across age groups, particularly among younger adults. A 2025 YouGov poll found that 49% of Britons aged 18 to 25 believe in a higher power.

In the United States, Bible sales also hit a milestone. Data from Circana BookScan show 19 million Bibles sold in 2025, marking a 21-year high and a 12% increase over 2024. Sales have more than doubled since 2019. The bestselling adult Bible was The Invitation New Testament published by B&H.

Industry analysts and publishers point to anxiety over global conflict, rapid technological change, and social instability as drivers of the trend. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Bible sales in 2024 far outpaced the overall print book market. Jeff Crosby, president of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association, said the surge reflects a growing search for assurance and hope.

Publishers in both countries report especially strong interest among students and young adults, with many preferring printed Bibles over digital versions as they explore faith and spirituality.
