It’s a packed Monday on Rush to Reason. John Rush opens with a candid breakdown of the Super Bowl experience—why the game felt flat until late, what he thought of the Bad Bunny halftime show versus the TPUSA alternative, and why the online outrage (and bar drama) says more about “force vs freedom” than football.
SPEAKER 06 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 03 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 06 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 14 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
SPEAKER 09 :
Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 11 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 09 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 12 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush, presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 10 :
Welcome to another edition of Rush to Reason. And guys, Monday, we appreciate you listening very much. Hopefully you had a great weekend. We’ll be talking about the Super Bowl and some other things that happened over the weekend as well. We’ll get into that in the second hour. Up first, though, today, Mike Jansen joining me. Plumberoos, Mike, welcome. How are you, sir?
SPEAKER 04 :
I’m doing great, John. Thank you so much for having me.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s a joy having you. We met in person here not that long ago, and I keep telling everybody when I talk about you daily that this is like plumbing of old. Not old as far as you doing the service and so on, but the service itself and how things used to be.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s correct, sir.
SPEAKER 10 :
So explain, I pretty much know what you mean by that, but explain to the listeners what you mean by this is like what the plumbers of old used to be like. That’s what you’re doing with Plumberoo’s.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes, sir. So what we do is when we talk to my customers, our customers, we identify the problem and the issue of what needs to be fixed, not trying to upsell other items or plumbing, other plumbing needs like that. One-on-one service, upfront pricing, honest, respectful service. Everything that people were used to back in the day before corporate giants came in and started dictating what plumbers need to do.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, and as we all know, and there’s no secret here, Mike, a lot of the larger plumbing companies like you’re talking about, they work heavily on commission. The guys that are out in the field, the techs, they’re heavily dependent. And by the way, their pay is dependent upon how much additional things they sell when they’re out. on site. In other words, they’re incentivized to find things that might really need done. And I’m not criticizing in some cases. Yes, there’s things that are needed. But Mike, there might be other situations where, you know, maybe that’s needed. Maybe it’s not. Maybe that’s a recommendation. But depending upon what that person’s paycheck looks like that week, that recommendation might become an emergency.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes, sir.
SPEAKER 10 :
And that’s how they do it. So for those of you listening, Mike, you don’t do it that way. All of your guys, I know they work on hourly. They’re not incentivized in that way. Again, you’re doing things like the plumbing guys of old used to do, really focusing on that service end of things so that folks can be assured that when you show up, you’re not overselling them things they don’t need.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s correct, John.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right, so give us some examples. And by the way, I guess I should also ask this. I mean, I think most people figure plumbing is plumbing is plumbing, and you guys cover a vast array of things. And maybe I should ask this. Is there anything plumbing-wise you don’t do? Or if there’s water running through a pipe, you’re there to handle it?
SPEAKER 04 :
Yes, sir, John. One thing I don’t do is camera scoping just because I don’t have the equipment to do camera scoping for looking for any breaks in the main sewer lines and stuff like that. But other than that, generally, we can do drain cleaning, water heater installs, anything plumbing related, even as simple as even a simple faucet leak that needs to be fixed or a toilet flapper.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, so you need a toilet replaced. Some guys, Mike, are very, very handy, and they can put some basic things in and even maybe rebuild a toilet. And let’s face it, there’s other folks out there, and no judgment for any of you listening, please, no judgment. Everybody has a different skill set and a skill level. Some folks do really well in this area, and Mike, and I’ll be first. I know people like this. There are some folks out there that couldn’t change the washer in the faucet, and to their credit, it’s a lot more complicated in some cases than it used to be. The reality is they need somebody that can do that, and you guys can handle all that, I assume.
SPEAKER 04 :
Most definitely, John. One of the things I like to point out as well, what I like to do with my customers is when I speak to them on the phone and there’s an issue… i like to give them free advice over the phone say tell them how to how to how to fix the problem themselves if they’re capable okay if they’re not capable we’ll definitely go out there and fix it but i’ve done plenty of times where i’ve told the homeowner okay change out the aerator clean it out your pressure will be perfectly fine once you do that you know simple stuff like that where they’ll we don’t need to go out and charge a trip fee to do something very simple that a homeowner can do.
SPEAKER 10 :
You know what, and again, going back to this is how the plumbing companies of old used to do it, and that’s the way it used to be. I mean, I ran auto shops for years and years, Mike, and I’d have some of those similar conversations on the telephone. If it was something really simple that somebody could take care of, or if a car even showed up and you spent a couple of minutes on it to get their problem solved, you just handed the keys back and said, hey, have a great day. Come back when you need something major. We’ll take care of you. you’re doing basically the same thing only when it comes to plumbing in their home.
SPEAKER 04 :
Exactly. You know, we go out there and there’s a simple issue, maybe something got loose, we just take a crescent wrench and tighten it up. You know, I just say, hey, thank you for your service, your work, and we’ll come back later when you need us. That’s awesome. I don’t charge them anything. That’s just one of those things I like to do personally to gain trust with them that I’m a plumber, not a salesman.
SPEAKER 10 :
Awesome. One thing you and I didn’t talk about, and this is a question I had for you I was going to ask today anyways, on commercial side, and I’m not talking big commercial skyscrapers, all that, but somebody’s got a commercial business, and maybe they’ve got their own shop or whatever, and again, they’ve got plumbing needs and things just like everybody else has. Will you do some commercial stuff as well, or is it all residential?
SPEAKER 04 :
No, we do commercial as well, John.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. So really, anybody listening, some of you guys that are business owners and you’ve always been looking for that plumber and, you know, you’re always afraid to call even the commercial plumber because in some cases, Mike, it’s worse than calling the homeowner plumber. You know what I mean by that. So a lot of these guys are really, how should I say this, they’re hamstrung sometimes on really knowing who to call. So for all of you listening, Plumberoos, Mike’s talking to us right now, Mike Jansen, his number, really quick, 720-219-3255. You can find him at klzradio.com as well as rushyourreason.com. And it’s plumberoos.com. That’s two zeros or two letter O’s there, plumberoos.com. And, Mike, again, I appreciate it. One thing we didn’t talk about, and I know you and I have particularly one-on-one, but to the audience, what’s your range? In other words, what part of the metro area do you cover?
SPEAKER 04 :
I go all the way down south to Castle Rock, all the way up north to about I-25 and 120th. and all the way west to Lakewood and Golden, and all the way east, all the way out to Aurora by Dunn Club Road.
SPEAKER 10 :
So pretty much the entire metro area. So again, all of you listening, please give Mike a call. I know some of you already have. By the way, thank you for doing that. Mike’s not been with us that long, and some of you are already starting to call, which I greatly, greatly appreciate. I know Mike does as well. And again, Mike, I just can’t say this enough. Thank you. for bringing the class of operation that you have, doing things like it used to be done back in the day. That’s what people are looking for, honesty, integrity, making sure that they’re getting the things they need for their home but not being oversold at the same time. So I appreciate you doing that, Mike.
SPEAKER 04 :
Thank you so much, John. It was a pleasure having me on the air with you.
SPEAKER 10 :
We will be having you back in the future. Mike, I appreciate it greatly. Have a great rest of your day, sir.
SPEAKER 04 :
You too, John. Thank you so much.
SPEAKER 10 :

Make power outages a thing of the past for your home. One recent home battery customer of Allen Davis signed up before the last power outage. Cliff L. in Golden said, What an amazing timing it turned out to be that you helped us get our solar up and running before the five to six days of absolutely no power in our neighborhood. I am one of the few homes that did not miss a beat. We are very happy we pulled the trigger. It’s a $5,000 rebate check for all who sign up who have Xcel Energy. Call Alan Davis at 303-378-7537 and make power outages a thing of the past in your home. Or email him at davis at omnipower.solar.
SPEAKER 06 :
God. Country. Reason.
SPEAKER 10 :
Now back to John Rush. Okay, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Thanks for listening. Really quick question of the day. Friday, what was the or who was the first actor playing a comic book character to win an Oscar? That would be Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger. And then today’s impossible question is, in the U.S., what agreement ended… Reconstruction in 1877. In the U.S., what agreement ended Reconstruction in 1877? So that is the question of the day. And again, I want to thank Plumber Roos for coming on and joining me a little bit earlier. And if you have got any plumbing needs at all, please give them a call and they’d be happy to take care of you. All right, before I get into the main bulk of this particular hour, Richard, my son, and I will talk about the Super Bowl and the halftime and all of that at 4.30. But I want to at least start off and throw a couple of things out there to get you guys thinking. And some people may agree with my comments. Some people may not agree with my comments. That’s sort of normal for me, given the role that I have here. Can’t please everybody. So I just a little background. And again, I’ll talk about this with Richard at 4.30. Don’t watch the Super Bowl at home. I didn’t even look to see if I had the ability to do so. I assumed I didn’t because I don’t have any type of over-the-air television. And I subscribe and I don’t subscribe too much because I don’t watch a lot of TV. So you guys all know that I talk about that on a pretty frequent basis. So went down to one of our local places, sports bars that was nearby, and mainly to support some local establishments and went with some friends and had a great time. And we’re all conservatives and we’re watching the game and the football. You know, the game itself, we’ll talk about that at 4.30, was absolutely boring until the very end. Of course, the commercials were something that we’ll talk about as well. And then, of course, the halftime shows, and there were two shows. And in our particular case, the establishment owner left a couple of TVs on Bad Bunny, which was the halftime show that the Super Bowl itself put on. And then, of course, there was the alternative TPUSA, which… Oddly enough, some of you actually texted the text line to remind me that there was an alternative show. Now, I appreciate the text message, but, yeah, I pretty much knew that several months ago when they started talking about it in the first place when Bad Bunny was announced and they decided they would do some sort of an alternative. With all that being said, and there’s lots of division over this, by the way, which, frankly, there doesn’t need to be. I mean, we as conservatives especially, we believe in, you know what, you do you and we’ll do me, or, you know, you do you, I’ll do me. And at the end of the day, it’s still good. I’m not going to force my views and opinions on you, and please don’t force yours on me. And I heard stories of establishment owners like the one we were at where they left a couple of TVs on Bad Bunny. They turned on TPUSA for the majority of the televisions, which was fine. And the sound was TPUSA. Which, by the way, probably was the right way to do it, because Bad Bunny, while, and I’ll talk about his show probably a little bit later with Richard, you know, no offense, but it’s all in Spanish, and I don’t speak Spanish, and they didn’t put captions up, so at the end of the day, do I really need to listen to music? Not really. And I did watch Bad Bunny’s performance this morning, so, you know, I watched both, just to be fair, so I could see both sides of it, and again, I’ll talk more about this at 4.30, but I think my point right now is, why all the division and hate? There doesn’t need to be. I mean, here’s how I look at it. If you want to watch Bad Bunny, watch Bad Bunny. I really don’t care at the end of the day. You know, you do you. I don’t really care. On the same token, if you wanted to watch TPUSA, then be my guest. And likewise, the establishments and some of the folks that made decisions on what they were going to play. And by the way, some establishments made the decision they were going to play anything. They just turned the screens dark. You know what? As an establishment owner, and you guys all know me and my feelings on that as a business owner myself, it is their prerogative to do whatever they want to in their business. And if you don’t like it, you can go someplace else. So some played TPUSA. I’m guessing some played Bad Bunny. Some got mad at one versus the other. Some didn’t play anything. The TV screens went dark until the game started back up again. Then they fired it back up. I mean, it kind of was this combination of. And unfortunately, it was a combination of. Now, I do blame the NFL and their woke culture on a lot of this. Now, I will say this. If the NFL. had come out in the first place and talked about what the performance Bad Bunny was going to do actually looked like, they may not have created as many waves as they did. Now, maybe they didn’t care and they wanted all the waves because it creates more buzz and people watching and so on, and maybe that was their goal in the first place. But Bad Bunny didn’t really do any of the things that we all thought he might do from our side of the aisle, to his credit. And I’m not a fan. I’m not a fan one way or the other, and I’m just giving you guys the facts on both sides of the aisle here. Again, I think on the same token, there were probably some folks on our side of the aisle that were probably a little too quick to criticize the other side. And my feeling is – and by the way, one of those people was Donald Trump himself. And I’ll just give Donald Trump some advice right now. Shut up. Shut up. Nothing needed to be said. And I mean that, folks. And there’s times where he and I disagree extremely. This is one of them. As president of the United States, no one cares who’s, you know, you should not care who’s playing at the halftime. I get it. He’s trying to make it an America first thing and so on and so forth. But really, at the end of the day, it wasn’t that. And it wasn’t that bad. Was it great? No. On the same token, was TPUSA a 10? No, it wasn’t. The last song was, but the rest of it wasn’t. And I’m just being 100% frank with everybody. The last song was a 10. The rest of them, eh, they were meh. I’m sorry. I’m just being very honest with everybody. And I watched it again today to make sure that I was accurate in my thought process. On the same token, Bad Bunny was meh. He wasn’t that great either. So neither one were absolutely fabulous other than the last song Kid Rock did on TPUSA. Now, criticism of TPUSA. Shorten your thing up so it matches what the NFL is doing. If you’re going to do an alternative, you better have that figured out to where nobody’s turning the channel during the last part of Kid Rock’s song to go back to the ball game that’s now live because you screwed up and went too long. And that’s my advice to TPUSA. That makes us look like amateurs on our side. So you guys all know my feelings on that end of things and how things should be done and so on. But again, all in all, were either one of them a 10? No. Did I prefer to watch TPUSA? Yes. Would I do that again in the future? Probably. And I’m one that really doesn’t care much about what happens at the halftime show anyways. Now, I did watch, again, all of Bad Bunny and all of what went on there with Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin and so on. And was it as bad as our side predicted? No, it wasn’t. Was it as anti-American as our side predicted? No, actually, I don’t think it was. That’s my take. Again, some of you out there listening may disagree with me greatly, but that’s my two cents. I’ll talk more about that with my younger son, by the way, who probably is even going to look at it a little bit differently than I am, but is also very conservative like I am. He and I will talk about this at 4.30, but bottom line for me, the game, first half especially, stunk. It really didn’t get good until the fourth quarter, as you all know that we’re actually watching it. It was probably one of the most boring NFL Super Bowl games ever, which for all of you out there, Because I get these comments at times as well. For all of you out there that think the NFL is scripted, if it was scripted, the first half wouldn’t have been as boring as it was. So no, it’s not scripted. These are real teams, real coaches, real plays being called, real officials making good calls, bad calls, mistakes, and so on. It’s called football. And no, it’s not scripted. And I know a lot of people think it is. It’s not. Was it intended for Seattle to actually win yesterday? No, I wouldn’t say that was the case at all. In fact, I think Andy said it well on Friday. All four teams ended up in that last round that the Broncos actually lost in. Any one of them could have been there and performed very well. In fact, I will say this, and I’ll go this far, and Richard and I again will talk about this at 4.30, but I think the Broncos would have actually performed better than New England did given the circumstances. That’s my feeling. And that’s not because I’m a Bronco fan. That’s because I’m looking at it legitimately. And I think the Broncos would have given them a better run for their money, especially late in the game, as opposed to what New England did. And it’s not that I’m a New England hater. But in fact, I was rooting for New England. Most of the people that I was around were rooting for Seattle because they hate New England as Denver fans. But I’m an AFC guy through and through. So that’s who I was rooting for. So Again, at the end of the day, do I have a lot of stake in it one way or the other? No. Was it interesting to watch all of it and the dynamics and even some of the things on social media? And again, I’ve got some really great friends, and one in particular that posted something about all of that and the division that we have in the country and why is it there. And the reality is because evil exists. And yes, Satan abounds. And it’s his desire to disrupt and divide absolutely a thousand percent. It’s exactly the way it works. And in turn, does he do a good job of that? Yes, he does. And it’s our job, I feel, especially as conservatives, to counter that and not be as divisive. And I’ll just say this. Was Donald Trump divisive in his words? Yes. He’s not unifying in what he said. He’s divisive. If he was going to say something, I would have said something much along the lines of what I just said a moment ago. That, hey, you know what? You’ve got the freedom to watch either one of the shows that you want to watch. I’m happy that we’ve got the freedom in this country to do either or, and that TPUSA can actually put on a halftime show that’s an alternative to the show that’s being put on by the NFL. And all I can say is God bless America, and I hope you enjoyed whatever it is you watched. That’s what I would have said as president of the United States. Unfortunately, I’m not. Or maybe fortunately, I’m not. Because I would have done that much differently. So those are my two cents on what happened yesterday with the Super Bowl. I’ll get into more depth of that again with my son Richard at 4.30. But at the end of the day, again, do I have any dog in the fight? Not really. The disappointment, again, much like I’ve read on different posts on the Internet, on social media, the disappointing thing is the division that’s there, which I’ll also say, is caused in part by us, by our side. I get it. We’re frustrated. We’re mad. We’re mad at the other side. We’re mad at the woke culture. We’re mad at how they view transgenderism and all of the things that go along with that. I get that, folks, and I understand that we’re frustrated. I fully understand that. Believe me, I do. But sometimes the way we respond or react to some of those things, we’re no better than the other side. And we need to do better. We, us, conservative Christians, need to do a better job when it comes to some of those things and how we communicate some of that frustration. And instead of being the way we are at times, i.e. what Donald Trump put out there, we should be the opposite of that to where people want to come to us versus be repelled from us. So that’s my two cents for this particular segment. I’ll come back. Got much more to talk about throughout this particular hour. And again, another two and a half hours coming your way. Dr. Scott coming up next. And again, if you’re looking for a great doctor who thinks like we do here on Rush to Reason and wants to do what’s best for you and your health, look no further than Dr. Scott, 303-663-6990.
SPEAKER 08 :
What if you could get over 110 lab biomarkers tested, just like Dr. Mark Hyman advertises, but for a fraction of the cost, and with a doctor who actually explains the results? At Castle Rock Regenerative Health, Dr. Scott Faulkner has recreated this powerful biomarker test panel at a substantial savings. We have a special price for both men and women. Just $689. That’s a savings of over $2,500 over the standard price. And here’s the difference. With Hyman, you get numbers on a page. With Castle Rock Regenerative Health, you get Dr. Faulkner and his team walking you through every result, showing what’s off and creating a personalized plan to fix it. What’s even better, you don’t even have to be a concierge patient to get this pricing. This is open to everyone. Think about it. Most people’s deductible is higher than this special price. And your regular doctor, if he could get approved by your insurance, would never order this many tests, let alone know what to do with them. Call 303-663-6990 today or visit CastleRockRegenerativeHealth.com. That’s 303-669-6990. Take control of your health at Castle Rock Regenerative Health.

SPEAKER 06 :
The best export we have is common sense. You’re listening to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right, real quick, I got a tweet that was sent in to me or a post, I should say. Richard just sent me. We’ll talk a little bit about this again at 4.30, whereby there were, as I said a moment ago, there were sports bars. This is an actual post that says, and I’ll just read it. I run a business, a sports bar, JJ’s Place. yesterday 80 of the bar one of the turning point halftime show the rest wanted bad bunny to accommodate i put the tvs on half and half the 20 started canceling the orders taking to social media calling me a racist being disrespectful to my staff and leaving one star reviews on google and yelp mind you the 80 who wanted the turning point halftime show weren’t happy that bad bunny stayed on but they didn’t leave me a bad review take the social media cancel their orders Now, did this particular bar owner do the right thing? Well, in their mind, they did. It’s not for me to judge whether they did or didn’t. I’m on the conservative, you know, Republican side. And whether Bad Bunny was on or not, I mean, I guess I’m one where it’s like, you know, the owners decided to do X, Y, Z. I can either choose to stay and watch the second half or I can go and do something else. I mean, at the end of the day, I can do whatever I want to because I have the freedom of choice to do so, which is the beauty of this country. Now, I think a lot of conservatives, by the way, look at it the same way I just did. It’s the 20 percent in this particular case, the liberals. that don’t understand that in other words they’re the ones that start canceling orders leaving one-star reviews and again i the way i explain this all the time i want to make sure i’m very clear on this is because our side is the freedom side freedom to do what you choose to do now we don’t always agree with those choices but you do you you choose what you want to do the other side on the other hand they’re they don’t look at it that way it’s a it’s total control It’s all about I’m going to control you and make you do what I want. So if you, as the owner of this bar, JJ’s Place, don’t put on Bad Bunny on all TVs and you go ahead and pacify that 80%, which 80% is a large number, that wanted Turning Point on, then I’m going to leave you a bad review. I’m going to be mean to your servers and your staff. I mean, I’m going to be a total jackass. to you and your establishment because you’re not doing what I want. That’s what the left does. And folks, that is, that is in and of itself the difference in the two sides. Those of you that are on the left, explain to me how I’m wrong. That is the major difference. One side believes in freedom of choice, do whatever you want to, even as a business owner. You do you. We don’t care. On the same token, you guys that are on the left, you don’t see it that way. It is total control. You do what I say and you’re going to be militant about it if you don’t do it that way. If that other person doesn’t do it that way. That’s how you view things. It’s either your way or the highway. And by God, I’m going to make sure I leave you a bad review and I smear your name all over the place because I don’t agree with what you put on the television. That’s what you guys on the left believe in. You’re little militant Nazis, by the way. You don’t know you are, but you are. It’s either your way or no other. You have no ability to sit and reason with anybody for any length of time on what their viewpoint is because it’s either your way or no way. And I challenge you to challenge your own viewpoint. And some of what I’m reading to you is exactly that. I don’t think sometimes you guys on the left even realize what you’re doing. You think you’re making a point. No, you’re making a militant little Nazi stand of a point. You’re not making a point. You’re showing how selfish and childish you actually are. You throw little temper tantrums. You didn’t get your way, so I’m going to throw a little tantrum. I’m going to be mean to these servers. I’m going to leave a one-star review. I’m going to make sure this business is punished for what they did to me, even though they didn’t do anything to you. But see, folks that are listening, do you understand the difference from the left to the right? And this is a great example. What happened yesterday is a fabulous example of the left versus right. Now, I’m not saying everybody on the right is perfect. There are folks on the right that do some things the wrong way as well and probably threw a little bit of temper tantrum yesterday if something didn’t go their way. That’s not the norm, though. That is not, by and large, the way that things work on our side of the aisle. This particular post explains that. Now, again, did the bar owner do the right or wrong thing? Folks, I’m not here to judge that. I don’t know. I’m not them. If I had been a bar owner, what would I have done? Frankly, probably gone the 50-50 route. I would have probably done 50-50. Here’s this half. Here’s that half. Watch what you want. I’m providing both. I wouldn’t have gone dark. That’s a move I wouldn’t have made, because then I think you’re eliminating everybody, which isn’t the right way to do it. I also wouldn’t have ran just one versus the other. Again, I wouldn’t have ran Bad Bunny and ticked off all of my quote-unquote conservative clients that are there, nor would I have done the other. Now, in defense of some that put up Turning Point and the sound for Turning Point, you know… I can’t argue with that because you’re not going to understand the other side of it unless you’ve got a bunch of Spanish-speaking people in your establishment. I don’t know that I would have put the sound up for Bad Bunny because you didn’t know what he was singing and saying anyways. And they didn’t put closed captioning in, which they should have done. Charlie and I were talking about that before I came on air today. The one mistake the NFL made is they should have put the words up as to what he was singing. At least you would have understood it at that point. I have foggiest idea what the guy’s saying. I’ve heard different things from social media as to what his songs meant. And I haven’t verified that. So I’m not going to repeat any of it because I have no idea. I don’t know Spanish. I have no idea. I don’t have the foggiest idea what he’s saying. I mean, occasionally I’d catch a word here or there that I know and that I could sort of interpret, but I have foggiest idea what he said. I will say this, to Bad Bunny’s credit, the first thing when he was thanking all of the nations was he said something to the effect of, you know, I love the United States of America or something. I love the USA. Thank you, Charlie. Or God bless the USA. Didn’t say he loved it, but God bless the USA. So he did start with that to his credit. So I do think at times, and I’ve said this many, many times, and I’ll continue to say it, we are and can be our own worst enemy. We can be our own worst enemy. And we are. And we shouldn’t be. So. This is a learning lesson, I think, for everyone, conservatives especially. It’s a jumping-off point, by the way, or a teachable moment when it comes to how the left behaves, because this particular bar owner explained very well what actually happened. Richard just sent me a follow-up that this particular bar owner did get a lot of the one-star reviews removed. Google was kind enough to remove those, and rightfully so, because those are not correct reviews. Just because you don’t agree with what somebody’s putting on the television at any given time does not mean that establishment should get a bad review. But, folks, that’s what lefties do. And as a side note, and I know this to be true, they tend to leave more reviews than we do. And I just know that as an owner, business owner still, and one that I’ve been in the retail business side of things forever, yeah, they leave more reviews than our side does. Sometimes it’s like pulling teeth to get a conservative to leave a review where a lefty will do it in a heartbeat. In a moment’s notice, they’ll leave a bad review because it’s what they do. Again, force versus freedom. The left is all about forcing you into doing something, controlling you into doing something, making sure it’s done their way. They’re very militant about it. Very apparent with everything going on in the country right now, including Minneapolis and other places. They’re very militant about it. And they want their way or they’re going to throw a little temper tantrum. Our side, again, folks, by and large, I know there’s some exceptions to this, but by and large, our side is not that way. Our side is, you know what, you do you. If you want to go and screw up and do something, you know what, be my guest. Don’t call me afterwards, but if that’s what you want to go do, go do it. You have the freedom to do so, and we’ll support that freedom. And that’s how our side views it. That is not how the other side views it. Speaking of, let’s see if I can squeeze this in really quick. Here in Colorado. There is a particular bill. There’s several I’m going to talk about today. This is the first of, I think, three that I’m going to talk about today. SB 26-051, put through by Matt Ball and Amy Paschal. Age… attestation on computing devices. In other words, we want to verify all ages of all computer users before they can actually use said device. This is like total big brother from the state of Colorado. This is a hard no. And before somebody attacks you by saying, well, John, don’t you want to protect young kids that are on the Internet and so on and so forth? Folks, that’s the parent’s job. Again, that is not the proper role of government at all. At all. And I’ll stand by that until I go to the grave. Not the proper role of government. Kids have parents. Parents have the ability to monitor and control and watch what’s going on when it comes to their kids and the Internet and so on. And no, it is not up to government to establish, in this case, they want to provide an accessible interface at account setup that require an account holder to indicate the birth date or the age of the user of that device to provide a signal regarding the user’s age bracket, age signal, to applications available in a covered application store. provide an application developer that requests an age signal with respect to a particular user, the technical ability to call an age signal via a reasonable, consistent, real-time application programming interface that identifies at a minimum the user’s age bracket data, and send only the minimum amount of information necessary to comply with the bill. An operating system provider shall not share the age signal with a third party for a purpose not required by the bill. In other words, we want to control who’s on the Internet. And by the way, here’s my other fear with something along these lines. If they start here, where does this end? If they start with minors, where does it end? Now, do I think that all minors should be viewing some of the things that are on the Internet? Of course not, folks, no. In fact, there’s things on the Internet that no one should ever view. There’s lots of stuff even on the dark web that no one should even go to. But here’s the reality. If you think a bill is going to stop a minor from doing this, then you’re as dumb as a rock. I’m sorry. You’re as dumb as a rock. And these particular politicians, these two, Matt and Amy, you two, if you’re listening, you’re not. But if you are. You guys are dumb as rocks. You have no idea how this works, how the real world works. You think by passing a law, all of a sudden all these kids are going to comply. Folks, kids, minors, people, they’ve been working around these sorts of things for eons, all the way back to underage drinking where kids would go and get fake IDs or they’d find somebody to buy them this or buy them that. Do you think for one second that this bill, this law, if it does take effect, If this bill becomes law, I should say, is really at the end of the day going to keep minors out of the Internet and out of areas they shouldn’t be? No. They may some, but all in all, is it? No. No. Again, this is not the proper role of government. I’m sorry. It’s not the proper role of government. So they’re even going to put some violations or some penalties on here. A person that violates the bill must provide a civil penalty of not more than $2,500 for each minor affected by each negligent violation and not more than $7,500 for each minor affected by each intentional violation. The penalty is assessed and recovered in a civil action brought by the attorney general. And folks, keep in mind, if all of a sudden there’s something that happens and there’s 10,000 kids that all of a sudden have access to something because something wasn’t done correct on the software, do the math. It becomes a very expensive thing for these folks. So trust me, they’re putting some teeth to this. This is a bad bill. And this is a bill that I would hope our governor, whoever that is, in this case, it’ll be polis. I would hope a governor would look at this and say, this is stupid. We can’t do this. This is just an infringement. We can’t do this. So that is SB 26-051, again, put through by Matt Ball and Amy Paschal, who I don’t know individually, but I can tell you right now are dumb as rocks. Just by the bill they put forward. They’re both in the Senate. Sorry, Matt’s a senator, Amy’s a representative. So where this goes from here, we’ll have to keep watching it. I believe this is just, it’s got a number, so it’s been introduced. We’ll have to see where this pans out. But another stupid bill put through by those that are on the left, going back to what I said earlier, because they like control. And trust me, this won’t stop at just minors. This will continue on because they want to control everything because that’s what the left does because they don’t believe in freedom when it’s all said and done. SPEAKER 06 :
Now back to Rush to Reason on KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, really quick. One last thing about the Super Bowl halftime thing is Charlie and I just keep talking through the breaks and you guys don’t get to hear what we say about. I will say this. The setup, the set, I guess you could say, for this particular halftime show, that was an A+. They did a really good job on that. In fact, I’m thinking, man alive, rolling all those plants in and making it look like fields and the telephone poles and the whole nine yards. I’ll give them kudos for that. Pretty cool, actually. And knowing how hard all of those things are to put together, and I get it. They’ve got kind of an unlimited budget and so on. But still, this is my brain. This is how it works. I’m thinking, who built all that? I’m that guy. I’m like, who built all that to get all that stuff in and out of there as quickly as they did and make it look as real as it was and so on? And to me, that was the masterful part of the halftime show. Not him singing and all of that, but just the set itself, I will say, was pretty spectacular. Yeah. In fact, I would go as far as to say, and I’ll get Charlie’s opinion on this, one of the best sets probably at a Super Bowl halftime show ever. Yeah, extremely creative. Thank you, Charlie. Yes, very creative and really done in a way that, honestly, I liked. I did like that part of it. So to me, that was a cool part. And again, I don’t have any dog in the fight in any way, shape, or form. Okay, everybody that flies and travels, we all know that when you go to the airport – Everything costs more money. It does. I mean, there’s an old Seinfeld skit talking about certain things being very rare at the airport. Yeah, I mean, you’d think they are because the price is extremely high. But part of that is because the vendors have a very captive audience. It costs them more money to do business there. Their overhead is much higher. They’re paying not only a higher fee to the city of Denver in this case because they own the airport for square footage rental and so on. But on top of that, I believe, don’t quote me on this, but I think DIA takes a cut out of everything they sell as well right off the top. I believe they do. I need to double check that, but I believe they take a percentage of the sale much like a lot of the shopping malls back in the day used to do, and some still do to this day. And then keep in mind, on top of that, they’ve got to pay their workers more money because it’s a pain in the rear to go to the airport, even as a worker. There is no quick way to go to work. That part, and if you work at the airport, I feel for you because it sucks. It’s awful getting to and from. Employee parking stinks. Getting out and getting checked in and going through security and all the things you have to do to go to work there, it’s a pain in the rear. And in turn, they’ve got to pay more money to have that happen. So you’re paying your workers a higher wage to work at the airport than you would anywhere else. So 9 News, because they’re such a stellar organization, they did an investigation. DIA concession pricing policy gives businesses wide latitude to markup prices. And here’s my answer back to 9 News. And I didn’t read the whole article because I don’t care to. But here’s my answer back to 9 News, as they should. As they should. They should have the ability to market prices according to what they need to, period. Now, 9 News is all mad, and basically this investigation is about how high prices are, and they went out and did a comparison to other prices nearby, you know, a bag of licorice there versus a bag of licorice at Walmart. Okay, time out. First of all, 9 News, are you that dumb? You can’t compare a bag of licorice, same bag, at Walmart. As opposed to what’s at DIA. It’s not even comparable. You’re buying two different products in a way. One product at a giant, Walmart, who’s got buying power like no tomorrow that can bring those things in on a rate that there’s nobody at the airport could ever think of doing because Walmart’s not operating there. Meaning that the cost… of the product itself is far different from what Walmart’s paying versus what the vendor at DIA is paying. Now, I also know, before anybody sends this in, I understand that the majority of concessions at all airports are run by one of two or three companies. Even though they might say something different as far as who the operator is, about three companies own the majority of vendors in airports. Hudson News and so on. Those are all owned by about three companies. In fact, there’s one large company that owns the majority of those. Now, I’m not saying that they’re buying power as that of Walmart. It’s not. So even they having the large footprint that they have across all airports still don’t have the buying power of a Walmart. So you still cannot compare the same bag of licorice at the airport cost-wise To that bag of licorice at Walmart. So this is common sense. Now, whoever did this piece for Nine News is an idiot because you would think that you would know this is Steve on your side. And Steve, you’re an idiot. Sorry. I’m sorry to say, but you are. You’re just a news guy looking for clicks and views and so on. But you have the foggiest idea what you’re doing. Because you can’t compare it the way you’re comparing it. Now, supposedly, it’s this wide latitude and DIA, the city of Denver sets a certain latitude or a certain parameter as to what things can be charged based upon street prices and where the rub is, is what street price are they looking at? Now, personally, if it were me, you’d have to go look at some of your higher-end Walgreens locations and probably look at prices there versus DIA because it’s more of that type of an environment than it is going to the grocery store or Walmart. Because even Walgreens, you go buy a bag of chips at Walgreens, go buy a bag of chips at Walmart. Not the same price, folks. Newsflash, more money at Walgreens. In fact, I’ll go one step further. Go to a Maverick. versus Walgreens, and the price at Maverick’s even going to be higher than Walgreens, which is higher than King Soopers, which is higher than Walmart, which is then higher than Costco. You see what I just did there, folks? I just did the layers of pricing, and literally I’m looking out the window thinking, okay, we’ve got Maverick, I know where Walgreens is, I know where King Soopers is, I know where the Costco is. You get the drift. You can go down in line all the way to the cheapest price if you’d like to. I know in some cases you might be able to buy online even cheaper than that. That last step in all of that, if you’d like to. So when the city of Denver says street prices, there probably is a wide range of what street price are you talking about? And then being in line with that as a vendor at DIA. Here’s my thought on that. You know, it’s there. If you need it, you buy it. If you don’t, bring your own and stop your whining. If you don’t like the prices at the airport, then bring your own crap. Don’t worry about it. Now, I get it. You can’t bring in liquid stuff. Okay, fine. So bring a water bottle, fill it up with water, have a little juice packet with you, you know, dry packet of whatever you want to add to your water and flavor it, and off you go. Done deal. Okay, done. Piece of cake. But at the end of the day, quit your whining and sniveling because that’s what the airport is. It’s a captive audience. Bob, go ahead.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, two items about captive pricing. I’ll tell you the worst thing about captive pricing, sporting events.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, and same situation, Bob. I mean, again, you can buy it or not buy it. The choice is yours. Nobody’s forcing you to buy anything.
SPEAKER 15 :
There’s one vendor. That’s it. The other thing about the airport, I don’t know.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, and really quick, and most people don’t know this, Ball Arena, the one vendor is owned by Jerry Jones, who owns the Dallas Cowboys, as we all know.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, but all sporting events.
SPEAKER 10 :
There’s one vendor. Even though it looks like they’re all different, it’s all run by one company. That’s correct.
SPEAKER 15 :
The vending for the Buffalo Bills is owned by Kathy, the governor’s husband. Anyway, do you use Uber going to and from the airport?
SPEAKER 10 :
Sometimes. Depends.
SPEAKER 15 :
Okay, here’s what they’re doing. They’re overcharging the passengers. I’ve been doing this for ten and a half years, so I know about the airport trips. They’re overcharging because my riders tell me what they pay. and they’re underpaying the drivers. It is getting real hard to get an Uber in and out of the airport.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, meaning you’re going to be either driving yourself, taking taxis, going off-site to get an Uber, taking a shuttle somewhere else, whatever. There’s going to be lots of ways to do that.
SPEAKER 15 :
You’d walk out with your bag, and there’d be a car ready, and off you went. I dropped off somebody about three hours ago at the airport. I turned down… 15 trips leaving the airport because they didn’t pay squat. And I finally got one going to Boulder that paid at least a dollar a mile, and I took it. And I got a $16 tip. Tips are almost non-existent anymore for Uber drivers. I don’t know if you know that, but that’s the way it goes. But getting in and out of the airport for Uber, I don’t know anything about Lyft, but it’s getting really rough. The lines are just outrageous. Didn’t used to be that way.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yep. No, you’re 100% correct. No, great point. Bob, I’ll let you roll. I’ve got to take a break. No, you’re spot on. And real quick, I’ve got one text message to read that says, buying power aside, Walmart’s rent and cost per square foot is nothing compared to the airport as well. Walmart is a master at controlling building overhead. Back in the day, we did some electrical work for some vendors at the concourse at the airport. And, again, what a joke it was. Never again. The airport actually has a hard time getting contractors because it sucks so much. Yeah, thank you. Going back to my point of even getting there and doing work is such a pain in the rear that it’s hard to even find people to actually perform the service that needs to be done. And by the way, I’m not blaming those individuals because it is a royal pain in the neck to actually work at DIA. Paul Lundberger is next. And Paul was with you this past Saturday on Fix It Radio and Drive Radio, by the way. Anything you need when it comes to insurance, give Paul a call, 303-662-0789.

SPEAKER 06 :
Live and local. Back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right, Lex, several comments coming in about Bad Bunny and TPUSA and all that. And most of you pretty much in line with me. There’s not too many of you that are differing from me on my viewpoint of things. And then several of you texting in about the airport as well. And just, yeah, what a hassle it is to actually work at the airport. So for 9 News to run. this sort of a story on, you know, vendor pricing. I don’t know what they’re trying to accomplish by running that piece, by the way. I guess maybe they think they’re going to get prices lowered. Fat chance on that, 9 News. Not going to happen. Reality is the cost of doing business inside the airport is super high. Those vendors have to charge those high prices. Otherwise, they won’t stay around and you won’t have anybody there to actually service that bag of chips or whatever you want before you hop on the plane. And again, there’s one way to fix that if you don’t like the prices. Not that hard, folks. If you don’t like the prices, then 9 News, Steve on the other side, or whatever your name is. I don’t know what his name is. Don’t care. Don’t watch TV. Whatever your name is, Steve. If you don’t like the prices, then bring your own stuff. This isn’t that complicated at the end of the day. So, anyways, that’s it for this first hour. Another two hours coming your way. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 1 :
Thank you.
SPEAKER 03 :
