This hour of Rush to Reason was a full-on Friday movie-rental free-for-all, with John Rush, Andy Peth, and Richard Rush building a massive list of hunting movies from every angle imaginable. They widened the category on purpose, covering not just literal hunting, but manhunts, survival stories, bounty hunters, military pursuit films, monster movies, and even a few off-the-wall comedy picks. That opened the door for everything from The Ghost and the Darkness, The Hunt for Red October, Predator, Rambo, No Country for Old Men, The Fugitive, Taken, The Patriot, John Wick, The Revenant, and Jaws to work their way
SPEAKER 12 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 04 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes. With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 20 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did. Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 19 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 14 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, we are back. Hour number two. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Thanks for joining us. This hour of movie rental is hunting movies.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, and this is because of Ready or Not, Here I Come. So we thought we’d do hunting movies. And it could be, you know, hunting anything, hunting anyone, or having them hunt you.
SPEAKER 16 :
Correct. So you name it, we’ll throw that in. You can text us your answers to this 307-200-8222, 307-200-8222.
SPEAKER 10 :
And by the way, John, hunting movies are tense, obviously.
SPEAKER 16 :
Usually.
SPEAKER 10 :
Right, because usually it’s time sensitive. You’re trying to survive for a certain amount of time. And I mean, just the hunt. It can be the thrill or the terror of the hunt. It can go either way. It’s kind of interesting. What do you think?
SPEAKER 16 :
I agree. No, you’re absolutely right. And again, so those of you, I’ve got some text messages coming in, 307-200-8222. Richard will be joining us here in a moment. Before we do that, we’ll take a break. We’ll come back. We’ll get rolling along. Let’s do this. Paul Leuenberger, who is my insurance broker, would love to help you with all of your insurance needs. Paul is a broker. He’ll help you with anything you need when it comes to your insurance, and I say that a lot, but I really mean that. He’s a great friend of mine, by the way, and I know for a lot of you that are listening, he has helped a lot of you with your insurance needs, and he’ll shop for you doing whatever you need, classic cars, performance cars, home, auto. He does it all.
SPEAKER 10 :
How long has he been your guy?
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, man, I’ve had insurance with him for a decade plus or more. Yeah, that’s trust. So a very, very long time. So, yeah, give Paul a call, 303-662-0789.

SPEAKER 16 :
All right, Flesh Law is up next, 303-806-8886. Criminal, civil, you name it, give Kevin a call today. Again, 303-806-8886.
SPEAKER 24 :
Here’s why you need personal injury attorney Kevin Flesch on your side. He understands the way the jury thinks. In the context of a personal injury case, you’ve been hurt by someone else’s negligence. The idea is that you’re going to try to recover so that you can get back to where you were just prior to that incident occurring. What that really means from a jurist’s perspective is that you’re going to be asking them to award you money. So when we talk about fairness, we’re talking about six people that you don’t know. Those six people view the evidence and make a unanimous decision that will decide what the fair value is. When you’re the one who’s hurt, you have a good idea of what you think it’s worth. The question is, can you persuade those other individuals whom you don’t know and were witnesses to believe that’s what the case is worth? Kevin Flesch understands the way the jury thinks. Call now for a free consultation. 303-806-8886

SPEAKER 14 :
Putting reason into your afternoon drive, this is John Rush.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Richard, are you with us now?
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, that I am. All righty. Hey, Richard, really quick here. What’s it feel like to have a top five receiving group now in Denver?
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, man, Andy, you’re giving us a lot of credit. I think it’s great, Andy. I love the move. I know a lot of people are like, oh, well, you gave up a first and a third. And honestly, Andy, based on the strength of this draft and where our pick was and kind of what we got back, it feels like we gave up a late second spot. an early second and an early fourth round pick, I guess, is kind of my Broncos fanatic stance on it. But overall, I think it’ll be great for our offense. I’m excited to see how Davis Webb sort of deploys him. Marvin Mims, Sutton, Pat Bryant. I mean, I just think there’s no shortage of weapons for Bo to be able to use, and ultimately that should be good for us. And we didn’t really lose anyone. I mean, yeah, we lost Franklin Myers, a really good defensive lineman, but we’ve got some guys in the pipeline, Andy, that are coming up, and it should be another good year for us. I think we’re going all in on these next few years, I should say, of Bo Nix on a rookie contract, which I love.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, yeah. Also, Jalen Waddell adds a lot that you didn’t have. He is explosive downfield. And, I mean, you’ve got good downfield receivers. I like Mims a lot, but not like this. Waddell is a totally different dimension. You gave up a lot, and you got a lot. I thought it was a very fair trade for both teams.
SPEAKER 12 :
I’m with you. Again, I mean, I would love to keep our first cause you know how much I love obviously you and I doing that, that show. But again, in this draft and we’ll talk more, we’ll bore people more with it here in about a month or so. Right. But to me, this draft, the strength is not late first round. Right. And I don’t know if any draft ever is a late first round strength. Right. I think that the strength of drafts are either you’re really good high end talent or in the case of this draft, Andy, those middle rounds, you know, between two, three, four, even into five, um, I think there’s some really good value picks that can be had there for guys that can contribute.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I agree. This is more of a Walmart draft. Walmart, I like it, Andy. Yeah, yeah. It’s not so much Macy’s, okay? This is not Macy’s. Maybe Target, borderline Target, right, Andy? Borderline Target. Borderline Target. All right, shall we jump in? Go for it. Okay, we’re doing hunting movies, and Richard, just so you know, and we already told the audience this, it’s anyone or anything hunting anyone or anything. Okay, so it’s very broad. Very broad category. And the first one I’m going to go to is an old 1996 movie starring Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer, The Ghosts in the Darkness.
SPEAKER 19 :
Good movie. You don’t enjoy killing, do you? Then why do it? Because I’ve got a gift. No!
SPEAKER 10 :
I just thought it was a good movie. It was a little slow, and I thought it was very tense and very well acted. And I just like those two actors. What do you think?
SPEAKER 16 :
Good movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Richard, that’s before your time, way before your time, but did you happen to see it?
SPEAKER 12 :
Way before. Nope, not Andy. Way before my time.
SPEAKER 16 :
Great movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, that’s right after we got Talkies.
SPEAKER 16 :
The Maasai are in it, and you would enjoy it, Richard. It’s a good movie.
SPEAKER 12 :
Okay, there you go. Richard, you’re up. Go ahead. All right, this is my first, and I feel like, unfortunately, some of these hunting movies are going to be this category, guys, and it’s not a bad thing, just saying. But if you need to sit down and then fall asleep halfway through the movie and then wake up four hours later and the movie’s still playing, have I got a few movies for you. Oh, jeez. Oh, good. Number one, Kevin Costner in Dances with Wolves.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
It’s a little slow. Great movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
You’re just there for a while.
SPEAKER 16 :
Tatanka.
SPEAKER 10 :
It is slow, but you know what? Kevin Costner made several long, slow movies. This was by far the best. Very interesting, good character.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, Dances with Wolves. Didn’t it win awards and stuff back in the day? Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Best picture, I believe.
SPEAKER 16 :
Good movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Way to go. Okay, John, you’re up.
SPEAKER 12 :
Andy, real quick. I should have started the show. I’m sorry I’m taking your time. The Oscars this past weekend. I know I’m sure you didn’t agree with their best picture. Or did you?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, no, forget me audiences did didn’t the best picture lost $100 million. Which Okay, well, what was your best? Did it really? Yeah. My best pick? Yeah, nobody went to it. It was terrible. One battle after another just awful. All it was was a protest piece against everything conservative. My best movie of the year was weapons. Hmm. Was that even nominated for Best Picture? No, it wasn’t, right? No, I don’t think it was nominated, but it did win on a number of things. Weapons was kind of a horror mystery, and it was just very well done. I thought Weapons was rather clearly the best movie of the year.
SPEAKER 12 :
Interesting. Okay. Well, and again, sorry to sidetrack, but I saw this weekend, obviously, I didn’t watch a lick of the Oscars. They have just gone way, well, woke and all of the other things that they’ve done. Oh, yes. And it’s just such a shame, Andy, because I think there are some really talented actors and actresses out there right now. Mm-hmm. And I just don’t like and I think there’s some exciting like I saw that, you know, they released the Dune three trailer. They’ve got Spider-Man coming out. They’ve got some new animated films. And I think they actually have some good stuff, Andy. But then they always do it where they always nominate these films that are just weird.
SPEAKER 10 :
They do.
SPEAKER 12 :
I don’t know why they win anything.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I’ll tell you one thing they’re not winning as viewers. They had the lowest ratings since, I believe, 2022. And, I mean, amongst the lowest ratings ever. So it was just terrible. Nobody’s watching it anymore. And you know why, Richard? Because Hollywood doesn’t care about me, you, and John at all. Right. They don’t care about a lot of their audience.
SPEAKER 12 :
There you go. Andy, I don’t even know if they care about the middle guy because, again, I think we’ve talked about this.
SPEAKER 17 :
They don’t.
SPEAKER 12 :
Why do people go to the movies? People go to the movies because they want an escape from reality. It’s why we watch sports, right? We tune in. We watch any entertainment. If we wanted the news, we would watch the news, right? We don’t want to tune in to Fox, CNN, whatever it is whenever we’re going out for a good time. We want to escape from reality. And I just feel like, like you said, Andy, and maybe that’s what the left wants, but I got to think even the middle, you know, independent middle 50% of America doesn’t want that.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, well, the left wants to shove us into their reality and they’re making too many movies like that. And boy, oh boy, giving best picture to a movie like that I think it was the worst one since Shakespeare in Love won over Saving Private Ryan. I think it was that bad of a slight. It was ridiculous for that to win Best Picture. I was horrified. So there you go. John, you’re up.
SPEAKER 16 :
As a side note, Dances with Wolves cost $22 million to make but raked in $424 million.
SPEAKER 10 :
They had a lot of stunt wolves that cost extra money. They must have. A lot of stunt wolves.
SPEAKER 16 :
Anyway, so there you go. Speaking of another slow movie, but yet in the day, was super popular, Richard probably has never seen this one, The Deer Hunter.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
Right, Richard? Have you ever seen it? No. No. I’m not going to tell you to go watch it because it’s really slow.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s slow. War movie.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, it’s slow. Great acting, but… Yeah, but it’s slow. I mean, really, really, really slow. Tom in Larkspur, you’re next. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 11 :
Hey, guys. You know, you’re keeping me from retiring with this movie thing on Fridays.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, boy. That’s why we do it, Tom. That’s right. That’s why we do it.
SPEAKER 11 :
There you go. Well, I’ve got three of them. One of them is everybody knows is Deliverance when the guys were in the canoes and they were being hunted by the Cajuns. And another dark one that you guys might remember.
SPEAKER 10 :
One second here. Don’t forget, they got hunted back. Good old Bert.
SPEAKER 11 :
That’s exactly right. It was a back and forth. Do you remember with the bow and arrow scenarios?
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yeah. Oh, that’s great.
SPEAKER 11 :
Bert Reynolds and John Boyd both, right?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 11 :
Wonderful. And John Boyd getting buck fever when he went to shoot that guy was pretty powerful.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yep. Good movie.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yep. Another movie was a great one. It was an older one with Powers Booth. And I think Robert Carradine was Southern Comfort.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, I didn’t know.
SPEAKER 11 :
They were being National Guardsmen. They were out in the bayou, and they ended up being hunted by the Cajuns, which was a pretty intense movie.
SPEAKER 16 :
Those little Cajuns, they are going after people. What’s with those Cajuns?
SPEAKER 11 :
And then my last one, I think the greatest hunting movie of all time was Munich, when the Mossad went back after everybody after the Olympics in Munich and tracked down all those people.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, that counts.
SPEAKER 11 :
That’s good. That’s good.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
There you go. Okay, guys.
SPEAKER 16 :
All right, Tom. Thank you very much. I appreciate that. John, you’re next. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 14 :
Hey, John.
SPEAKER 16 :
How are you doing, sir?
SPEAKER 14 :
I’m good. Andy. Yeah. You started, and it reminded me of what you were talking about that I called in on Tuesday about why people aren’t going to the movies anymore. Yeah. It’s nothing worth going to see.
SPEAKER 10 :
You’re dropping out, John. Oh, I’m sorry.
SPEAKER 14 :
Is that better?
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s much better. Go ahead. There’s nothing worth seeing.
SPEAKER 14 :
Go ahead. Yeah. So I got two. I think it’s a hunting movie is The Hunt for Red October.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 14 :
Oh, totally. Yeah, that counts. Absolutely a hunting movie. Of all the Tom Clancy novels that they made… that they made movies out of, I still think that one’s the best.
SPEAKER 10 :
It is. It had the best pace. It really did. It just kept you in the edgier seat, and the performances were great.
SPEAKER 14 :
And, you know, everybody could say Harrison Ford or somebody else, but Alec Baldwin was great as Jack Ryan.
SPEAKER 01 :
He was.
SPEAKER 14 :
I mean, we don’t have to like him as a human being, but he did a great job in that movie. He was great. And the other one, the other one, I’m going to go back. How about True Grit? Oh, yes. Yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, they were hunting. That’s what he was hired for.
SPEAKER 16 :
Tom Clancy.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah. True Grit. He was hired to go hunt. She hired him to go hunt the bad guys. It was great.
SPEAKER 14 :
Tom Chaney and Ned Pepper. Right. And the great Robert Duvall was young when he played Ned Pepper.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 14 :
He was awesome. Lucky Ned Pepper. And one of the best lines ever. when he just looks at John Wayne and says, that’s a lot of big talk from a one-eyed fat man. That’s great.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, good one.
SPEAKER 14 :
That is. Hey, guys, you have a great rest of the day.
SPEAKER 16 :
We’ll do it. All right, John, appreciate you very much. Okay, before we go to the next round, I had one that just came in from one of my good friends, and I would not have thought of this being a hunting movie, but I’m going to throw it in. Caddyshack. Because he’s hunting the gopher.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, absolutely.
SPEAKER 16 :
You little gopher.
SPEAKER 10 :
That was totally a hunting movie.
SPEAKER 16 :
All right, Andy, you’re up. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 10 :
In fact, I learned all about hunting. There you go. From Bill Murray.
SPEAKER 16 :
Right there from that one.
SPEAKER 10 :
In Caddyshack.
SPEAKER 16 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 10 :
Let’s go to, okay, just a sec. Sorry. That went bad. Now I’m having a hard time. Okay, I know what I’m going to do. I’m going to go to a different one. Here we go. Mouse Hunt. Did you ever see Mouse Hunt? It’s a kid movie. Here we go.
SPEAKER 12 :
We were hoping for an older cat, one with experience.
SPEAKER 18 :
That’s a switch most people, like the cute little ones, experience with what? Mouse hunting. All cats are good mouses. Yes, but you see, we have huge rats the size of sumo wrestlers, and lots of them, so we really need a ferocious feline, preferably with a history of mental illness. Funny you should ask.
SPEAKER 24 :
I had all but given up on anyone wanting him. We were about to gas him again.
SPEAKER 18 :
Again?
SPEAKER 10 :
We were about to gas him again. Again? It’s just this huge, horrible, evil cat that they get because this mouse is tearing up their entire lives. Gotcha. All right, there you go.
SPEAKER 16 :
Gotcha.
SPEAKER 10 :
Nathan Lane was the star of that. Okay, Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 12 :
All right, Andy. Well, in honor of our old best picture actor there for the Oscars, The Revenant.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, good movie.
SPEAKER 12 :
That’s Leo, right?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, Leo.
SPEAKER 12 :
It is Leo, which, again, if he would do – never mind, different conversation. Do more of those, Leo. Do more of those.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, he needs to. Do fewer of the ones that won Best Picture this year and lost $100 million.
SPEAKER 16 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 10 :
John, you’re up.
SPEAKER 16 :
I’m going Rambo.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s a good one. That’s a good one. Okay.
SPEAKER 16 :
Back in the day, Rambo. All right, Dan, go ahead.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, quickly, Down Under.
SPEAKER 16 :
Was there hunting in that?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, he did a little of it. Really? Yeah, they were hunting each other. So he hired them to take out the Aborigines.
SPEAKER 17 :
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER 09 :
They were starting to hunt him because he refused to do that.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 09 :
And then remember the ending scene, Tom Selleck says, I said I didn’t have much use for them. I said I didn’t say I didn’t know how to use one. Remember when he – yeah, remember that? Yeah. That was a great line. Yeah, yeah. That was a great line. Loved it. Yeah, it was a good movie. I actually shot one of those rifles, and it was – they were pretty cool. I was thinking about buying one, but they were like five to six grand. Wow. I’m like, okay, I handed it back to him because I mailed a – target at 550 yards with open sights.
SPEAKER 16 :
Nice.
SPEAKER 09 :
It was a nice rifle until they told me the price. I’m like, okay, that’s nice. Put that one back. Yeah. And then the other one, I don’t know if you guys know this quote, but it’s like, look, I’m half, I’m a doe, I’m half buck, I’m a duck. No. It was an animated animated film in 2006 and it was a bear and a buck that had half his antlers on and this guy was like a poacher guy.
SPEAKER 10 :
I know this one and I’m totally forgetting it. What is it?
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s called Open Season. Right!
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
Did I not say that?
SPEAKER 16 :
No, Open Season. We got it.
SPEAKER 10 :
No, that’s okay. It was on my list too. I can’t believe I didn’t remember it.
SPEAKER 09 :
So there are some funny quotes in that one. There are. Anyway, those are the two that I have.
SPEAKER 16 :
Awesome. Dan, appreciate it very much. With that, we’ll take a quick break. Golden Eagle Financial coming up next. Listen in for this interview that Al just did. We’ll be back right after that. Find Al at klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 06 :
All right, we got Al Smith back with us on KLZ Radio. Al, I heard on a radio show the other day that people could replace their poor-performing annuities with new ones that earn 10% to 12% annually. Is that real?
SPEAKER 21 :
I think it’s an enormous exaggeration. I think there are some occasions where it might be in people’s best interest to replace an older annuity with a newer one, but to promise 10 or 12 percent returns, there’s only a very small percentage of annuities that have actually earned 10 or 12%. And sometimes unscrupulous people in the financial industry will use illustrations that are projected in the future, but have no clear examples of how it has actually occurred in the past.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s probably a big red flag when people give those guarantees, isn’t it?
SPEAKER 21 :
Well, they don’t usually say it with guarantees, but they make it sound like, oh, for sure, if you have a poor-performing financial product, we can get you one that’s going to pay 10% or 12%, and it’s guaranteed against loss. Well, the guarantee against loss is true, but the 10% to 12% performance, there’s about… I would estimate maybe a 5% chance of that actually occurring in the future.
SPEAKER 06 :
Wow. So you heard it here, guys. If you really want to know the answer, give Al a call here. And Al, how do folks get in touch with you?
SPEAKER 21 :
You can reach me at my office at 303-744-1128. And I’m having an event on the 19th. And it will be about essential tax strategies for retirement at the Belmar Library in the evening.
SPEAKER 06 :
All right. You can also find him on klzradio.com slash money. Al, thanks for coming in today.
SPEAKER 23 :
You’re welcome. Investment advisory services offered through Brookstone Capital Management LLC. A registered investment advisor. BCM and Golden Eagle Financial Limited are independent of each other. Insurance products and services are not offered through BCM, but are offered and sold through individually licensed and appointed agents.
SPEAKER 16 :
Live and local, back to Rush to Reason. And we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, Andy Pate, Richard Rush. Go ahead, Andy, take it away.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, it’s time to go to that great actor of all time. No, not Vin Diesel. Jean-Claude Van Damme.
SPEAKER 16 :
He’s worse.
SPEAKER 10 :
I know. He’s just a horrible actor. However, he did a very fun little movie when he was younger. It’s called Hard Target.
SPEAKER 16 :
Hard Target.
SPEAKER 10 :
Here we go.
SPEAKER 16 :
Pride ourselves in hunting only combat veterans.
SPEAKER 05 :
Men who have the necessary skills to make our hunts more interesting. And they always win.
SPEAKER 02 :
You want to find your father. Get somebody who knows the city to show you around.
SPEAKER 05 :
Now, the opposition is about to get one last chance.
SPEAKER 17 :
What kind of a name is Chance?
SPEAKER 05 :
My mama took one. My friend, Mr. Boudreaux.
SPEAKER 24 :
Silver star. Marine forced recon. He’s obviously not someone we should underestimate.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, hard target. Obviously not a lot of great acting. There are a lot of great stunts, and it is a movie that is just perfect. Now and then you get a movie that’s just perfect for the actor, okay? And this was perfect for Van Damme, and I actually had a lot of fun watching it. They’re down in the bayou, and these people, they do a regular hunt of military personnel.
SPEAKER 16 :
So it’s Cajuns again.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah. These are evil Cajuns hunting people. Cajuns are hunting again. That’s why I mentioned Cajuns earlier. And they are very evil, and unfortunately, they walk into this guy.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
So there you go. Okay, Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, there you go. All right, Andy, I don’t know if you will think of this one or not, but I thought it was a fun, and it’s a kid movie, not the one you were thinking of, folks, but it was done by Illumination, which is Migration. Because they’re hunted by the little chef guy. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, I forgot. You’re right. They were hunted by the little chef guy. It was a good movie. Yeah. I like Migration. I gave it a good review.
SPEAKER 16 :
Old movie. I’m surprised Andy hasn’t said this yet. Somebody even texted it in. The Edge.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah. It’s in my list.
SPEAKER 16 :
Another Alec Baldwin movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yeah. Okay, well, here’s a movie that, as you know, I gave actually pretty high reviews, and it’s quite bloody, but it’s hunting Trump supporters. But guess what? The tables get turned on the liberals, and it’s called The Hunt. Here we go.
SPEAKER 02 :
You’re hunting human beings for sport. Then you’re not human beings.
SPEAKER 08 :
Help you? What state is this?
SPEAKER 04 :
Most people know where they are.
SPEAKER 08 :
I hate most people. You’re in the glorious state of Arkansas, sweetheart. Is there anything else I can help you with?
SPEAKER 24 :
How’d you know she was lying?
SPEAKER 08 :
Because everyone is lying.
SPEAKER 10 :
And that was Betty Gilpin, and she stars in this. They don’t understand. They got the wrong person. And she is a trained killer. And now she’s going after the lefties. And it’s a lot of fun. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 12 :
You know, I feel like we’re going to have a few more of these types in this category, Andy, of… I’ll just say some Jason Statham action. There’s a few where they’re hunting people. They’re fun. One Friday Night Flick was The Beekeeper.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
That was a fun movie. Yeah. I thought it was just a fun movie. Yeah, I liked that movie. That’s a good movie. It’s not going to win any awards, but it was just a good time.
SPEAKER 16 :
No, really good movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, and by the way, I guarantee you it way, way, way, way, way, way outsold last year’s best movie. Anyway, go ahead, John.
SPEAKER 16 :
This one, one of my favorite movies. Haven’t talked about this one for a while because we haven’t had quite the right genre, but No Country for Old Men.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yes. What’s wrong, Richard?
SPEAKER 16 :
I thought it was going to go Schindler’s List. Nope, nope. No! No Country for Old Men.
SPEAKER 10 :
Would you say there was a little bit of pretty good acting in that movie?
SPEAKER 16 :
That was a great movie. Fabulous movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, absolutely impressive.
SPEAKER 16 :
Now, that is one.
SPEAKER 10 :
Didn’t that win Best Picture?
SPEAKER 16 :
I think it did. Let me look it up. I think you’re right, Richard.
SPEAKER 10 :
That is one. I think it won for the Golden Globes. I’m not sure if it won for the Academy. John?
SPEAKER 16 :
I don’t know. I’ve got to look at that one. I don’t know. But that’s a great movie again. Great, great, great, great movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, we’ve got to do a space movie where there is a manhunt for one guy, and it is Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness. Here they’re talking to Khan.
SPEAKER 25 :
Why would a Starfleet admiral ask a 300-year-old frozen man for help?
SPEAKER 05 :
Because I am better. At what? Everything. Alexander Marcus needed to respond to an uncivilized threat in a civilized time. And for that, he needed a warrior’s mind. My mind. To design weapons and warships.
SPEAKER 13 :
You are suggesting the Admiral violated every regulation he vowed to uphold simply because he wanted to exploit your intellect. He wanted to exploit my savagery.
SPEAKER 05 :
Intellect alone is useless in a fight, Mr.
SPEAKER 10 :
He was so good, wasn’t he?
SPEAKER 16 :
Very good.
SPEAKER 10 :
I like Benedict Cumberbatch. I thought he was fantastic in that. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, Benedict Cumberbun there, Andy. Cumberbun. That’s right. Oh, let’s see here. Oh, Alpha. Oh, okay. Yeah. It was. I mean, not my favorite, but again, you know, I’ll watch. Going a little prehistoric there. I like it. John, you’re up.
SPEAKER 16 :
It’s called Alpha.
SPEAKER 10 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. Let’s do… This was actually a good movie. Hell or High Water.
SPEAKER 10 :
I did not see it.
SPEAKER 16 :
It’s a good movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 16 :
If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth watching. Yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
All right, well, let’s talk about a guy who was hunted by a lot of people, and that is, and no, I’m not going to use the usual clip. That is John Wick.
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, yeah. Here we go. Jonathan, do what you do best. What’s that? Hunt.
SPEAKER 10 :
And he walks out with the huge gun, so there you go. John Wick.
SPEAKER 16 :
Do what you do best. Hunt.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, there was a little bit of mutual hunting going on there.
SPEAKER 16 :
What do you think? Oh, they’re all great. Good movies.
SPEAKER 10 :
Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 12 :
You’re correct.
SPEAKER 07 :
Predator.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes! Yeah, that one counts. So good. I just had this one sent in. Hang on, I’ve got to find Predator to mark it off my list. I just had this one sent in, Hunger Games, which is, yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, that one works.
SPEAKER 10 :
They’re all hunting each other.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, that one works.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, it’s pretty good. You going to go with that? Okay. A bounty hunter movie, and that is Midnight Run. Here we go.
SPEAKER 17 :
You guys are the dumbest bounty hunters I’ve ever seen!
SPEAKER 10 :
Midnight Run, if you’ve not seen it, you need to. That’s all I’m going to say. Have you still not seen that, John? I’m telling you, it’s worth renting. There’s just a wee bit of bad language in it.
SPEAKER 16 :
Just a wee bit.
SPEAKER 10 :
Nonstop. There we go. Okay, Richard, you’re up. It’s very funny.
SPEAKER 12 :
Let’s see here. Andy. Oh, The Running Man. Yeah, absolutely. We did the old one and the new one.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I’m going to go with the old one, Arnie. I like that better. Yeah, you didn’t like old Glen Powell? You know what? It had moments, but no, it wasn’t as good. Not as good.
SPEAKER 12 :
Not my favorite, but again, it was a good Friday night movie watch, Andy. That’s what I meant.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, that’s a getaway from it all. I’m good with that. John?
SPEAKER 16 :
Let’s do… I mean, this one, well, we’ve talked about that one so much lately. Let me switch to something else.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 16 :
Let’s do The Patriot. The Patriot. Hunting the British.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, that’s right. They were. I did not think of that. Well done. Well, how about hunting zombies in Zombieland?
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. Here we go. My mother always told me, someday you’ll be good, sonny. I mean, I don’t think she could have guessed that something would be zombie killer.
SPEAKER 25 :
What do you think? Zombie killer of the week? Close, but no cigar. Zombie killer of the week went to Miss Cynthia Knickerbocker.
SPEAKER 10 :
She drops a piano on a zombie. That’s pretty good. Okay, Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 12 :
Have you seen that yet, Dad?
SPEAKER 16 :
What?
SPEAKER 12 :
I don’t watch zombie movies.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, Zombieland is… I don’t know why.
SPEAKER 16 :
That one I probably would watch, but I have not.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s hard to call that a zombie. Richard, did you see both? Yeah. Yeah. I love Madison. I thought number one was much better, but… It was. Number one was much better, but the best character in them was Madison, the blonde in the second one. She was hilarious. Very true. Okay, you’re up, sir.
SPEAKER 12 :
I did like Bill Murray, too.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, he was great.
SPEAKER 12 :
He was great. Got to bring old Liam Neeson in here for Taken. Yes. Because he is hunting those who took his daughter. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 10 :
I still can’t believe, you know, that didn’t get good reviews when it came out. It got poor reviews.
SPEAKER 12 :
I’m just like… Well, Andy, these are the same people that said that, you know, the other movie should have won an Oscar.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, that’s just it, Richard. And that’s what I was getting to. The same crowd that does the Academy Awards that nobody watches is from that same crowd, you’ve got the reviewers, you know, who follow it around. I’m telling you what, a lot of times they don’t get it. They do not get what a good movie is. But anyway…
SPEAKER 16 :
John, you’re up. Book of Eli.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
They’re hunting him because he has the Bible.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
But he memorized it.
SPEAKER 10 :
Very cool. Okay, really quick here. Anna and the Apocalypse, more hunting of zombies. And here’s a guy who’s singing about how he hunts zombies. Here we go.
SPEAKER 17 :
When it comes to killing zombies, I’m the top of my class. What have you been hiding? I’ve been kicking some ass.
SPEAKER 10 :
He’s a soldier at war. He just gets off on hunting zombies. There you go. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, let’s see here. Andy. Oh, back to Liam Neeson, The Grey.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 16 :
That’s on my list. That’s a good one.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s a good one.
SPEAKER 16 :
John. The Grey. Hold on. That one’s on my list as well. I’ve got to cross that one off. All right. Here’s one because I’ve had several people send this one in, so I’ll mention it. Jaws.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yeah, absolutely. Oh, that’s pretty good. Need a bigger boat. Okay, I’m going to go Hansel and Gretel, Witch Hunters.
SPEAKER 17 :
Hmm.
SPEAKER 10 :
That was a fun movie. Dumb movie, and I don’t care. It was fun. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah, I kind of said, oh, speaking of, I guess kind of same thing, Van Helsing, Andy, with Hugh Jackman. Yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Your father has still not seen that, has he? Yeah, no, I have not. Dad, it’s actually pretty good. Yes. It’s a monster movie, and it’s pretty good. You’re very limited, John. You’ve got to watch it.
SPEAKER 16 :
This is a movie I saw the other day, and I don’t think it was in the theaters, but I could be wrong. I know it’s out on the rental end of things. Bone Tomahawk. I never saw it. It’s a good movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, I believe you. Okay, well, you know, John, we need to be hunted now and then, and how about by Cocaine Bear?
SPEAKER 1 :
Cocaine Bear.
SPEAKER 10 :
Cocaine Bear. So stupid. Okay, Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 12 :
Actually, Cocaine Bear, Andy, here’s something else I’d tell you. Yeah, I know. Let’s see here. Oh, Anaconda. Yes. It’s on my list.
SPEAKER 10 :
Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, John Boyce. First one’s better than the second one, just so you know. Go ahead, John. You know.
SPEAKER 16 :
Let’s see here. I’m trying to pick ones I’ve actually seen. Okay. Crocodile Dundee. Okay. Yeah. That’s a good one. Right. Good A. That’s not a knife. Good eye. That’s not a knife. Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, we got to go to the greatest hunting movie of all time that inspired hunting and hunting men everywhere. Makes me want to hunt. Bambi. Oh, jeez. Andy.
SPEAKER 16 :
Andy.
SPEAKER 10 :
You guys never understand. The poor hunter is just trying to feed his family.
SPEAKER 16 :
True.
SPEAKER 10 :
I mean, survival of the fittest. This is very important. And everybody always looks at it, I think, from the wrong perspective. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, that I am, Andy. All right. Let’s see here. Oh, The Fugitive. I can’t believe we have another person for you. Oh, yeah. It was on my list.
SPEAKER 16 :
I was going to take that one a minute ago. I didn’t. That’s a good one. All right. We’re going to go that way. I’m going to go. I’m going Denzel Washington, The Equalizer. Yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Take any of them you want. And you gave me my fix of Denzel. Thank you. You know I got to get my fix. Okay. I’m going to go with the original, Ready or Not. It’s a good movie. Okay. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 12 :
Okay, since we’re going on, well, you know, cartels and whatever else exists. Sicario, Andy. Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
Good one. Very good. That’s actually a really good movie, too. Yeah. Let’s see here. Black Hawk Down.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yeah. They’re being hunted. Absolutely. Okay, how about kids learning to hunt on an island as they… become savages themselves, Lord of the Flies.
SPEAKER 16 :
Never saw it.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s classic, especially the British version. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, there you go, Andy. Okay, I mean, I don’t think we can, it would be without it. Silence of the Lambs.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
Ooh. Hello, Clarice.
SPEAKER 17 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 16 :
Silence of the Lambs. Yeah. Okay, John. Hunting people, basically. Oh, yeah. Let’s do… With a good count. Alien versus Predator.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh! Nicely done. And you just beat me to one because the one I was going to do was one that just came out a couple months ago, Predator Badlands.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
Which was kooky and surprisingly kind of fun. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 12 :
Let’s see here. Oh, well, I guess speaking of Predator…
SPEAKER 16 :
pray yep good one good one yeah yeah go ahead that works uh oh you did ready or not already right let’s do hang on take that one off uh let’s do we did the hunger games already too did we not yes wind river okay okay
SPEAKER 10 :
How about a military guy who’s gone down and is being hunted behind enemy lines? It’s a pretty fun movie. Have you ever seen it? Yeah, I like it. Richard, you’re up. Go. Is that Will Smith in… No, no, no. That’s… Oh, I’m suddenly spacing his name. From Zoolander. Vince Diller? No, the other guy. No, Owen Wilson. Owen Wilson. That’s right.
SPEAKER 12 :
Oh, that’s right. I just saw that. Okay. You’re right. You’re right. Okay. Let’s see here. Apocalypse Now.
SPEAKER 16 :
Ooh. Good one.
SPEAKER 10 :
Good one. Okay. John, you’re up.
SPEAKER 16 :
Jeremiah Johnson.
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, yeah. Classic. How about a couple guys hunting each other? Enemy at the Gates.
SPEAKER 16 :
Enemy at the Gates. Okay.
SPEAKER 12 :
Go ahead, Richard. All right, this is a reach, but it’s been a while since we’ve mentioned this one, and it’s just a funny movie. The Hangover. Oh, jeez. Because they are hunting for Doug. This is true. They are. This is true. Hey, man. That works. And they find Mike Tyson and a baby, and, you know. Totally works.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah. You know, I can’t argue on that one. Open range. Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
Very good.
SPEAKER 16 :
All right, we have another Richard calling in. So, Richard that’s calling in, go ahead. You’re up.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yes, I’ve got three movies that probably date me. That’s all right. But The Thing, John Carpenter’s The Thing.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, yeah, that counts. You bet.
SPEAKER 15 :
Go ahead. You heard The Blob is the third one. The Blob. The Blob.
SPEAKER 16 :
I didn’t get the second one. What was second?
SPEAKER 15 :
Uh, well, I both the things, the thing, and then John Carpenter’s the thing. Gotcha. Okay. That’s what threw me off.
SPEAKER 16 :
All right. I’ll put them both in there. Well done, sir. Richard. Thank you. Good stuff. All right. You have a good one. We appreciate it, Andy. It’s you’re up.
SPEAKER 10 :
Here’s a weird one. Catch me if you can. How about that one?
SPEAKER 16 :
They’re hunting him.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes. Tom Hanks is hunting Leo DiCaprio.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 10 :
I told you we could stretch on these. Go ahead, Richard. I don’t think this one’s a stretch on this one, Andy. Django Unchained.
SPEAKER 16 :
No, that’s not a stretch. That’s a good one. Yeah. Unchained. Okay, let me put that one down here. All right, I’m surprised Andy hasn’t said this one. Mad Max 2, The Road Warrior. I’m sorry.
SPEAKER 10 :
I have not said it. There we go. I’m a failure. Okay, Bounty Hunter again, played by The Rock in The Rundown. Hmm. It’s got him and Sean William Scott. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 12 :
You didn’t like that? You are, I tell you, Andy. You literally, that was the exact movie. I can’t even, I can’t, I can’t even.
SPEAKER 07 :
Were you going to say it?
SPEAKER 12 :
I wasn’t going to say it, but it’s okay. I’ll move on. Actually, I’m going to go to another watch.
SPEAKER 07 :
Your wife texted me.
SPEAKER 12 :
was made like the same vein, not quite, but the same. Walking Tall came out shortly after that, and he has to go hunting.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
And I actually think Walking Tall was better than The Rundown, but that’s a different conversation.
SPEAKER 10 :
I kind of agree. I agree. Go ahead, John.
SPEAKER 16 :
Let’s do Snow Walker.
SPEAKER 10 :
Snow Walker. Okay. How about being hunted by monsters? Once again with the greatest actor of all time, Vin Diesel in Pitch Black. And one day I’m going to get you guys to watch that movie.
SPEAKER 1 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
That was back when they had a role, one role, that was good for him. Go.
SPEAKER 16 :
You’re up, Richard.
SPEAKER 12 :
You know, it would be a bad Friday, especially this Friday, and this is a little bit of a stretch, 80. I think you’re going to allow this one to pass, though, because it’s a TV show series, but in honor of Mr. Chuck Norris, Walker, Texas Ranger. Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
I will totally let that go. Way to go.
SPEAKER 16 :
We have to, given the… Absolutely.
SPEAKER 12 :
I can’t believe that dude was 86, by the way.
SPEAKER 16 :
I know. Fantastic. He didn’t look it.
SPEAKER 12 :
No.
SPEAKER 16 :
Amazing. And what are you doing at 86 there, Pop? I’m not there yet. Not Kung Fu. I’m not there yet. You never know. I might be doing Kung Fu by then. You never know. All right. I’ll let you go, Richard. I know you’ve got to leave at 50, so we’ll let you go now. We’ll let Eric talk next. Go ahead, Eric. Go ahead, Eric. Eric!
SPEAKER 07 :
Hey! There you are. So hopefully I’m not repeating anything. I just got out of work and tuned in. Doesn’t matter. Pretty much any submarine movie like Down Periscope. Yes. Or Hunt for Red October.
SPEAKER 16 :
That one was said, but that’s okay. Down Periscope, no one said.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, but Down Periscope, they’re being hunted by the entire fleet. It was great. Love that movie. Yeah.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah. Yeah, there’s a couple of other submarine movies, but, yeah, pretty much any of the submarine movies.
SPEAKER 16 :
