And this is, I guess, Andy, we’re going to call this Rush to Reason, but it is Denver’s Rush to the NFL Draft. Oh, yes. If I was much more creative like my wife, I’d probably be able to come up with a better intro.
SPEAKER 03 :
If only you were more like your wife.
SPEAKER 12 :
We would all be better, Andy. Yes, we would. And she would say the same thing. With that, Andy, we have got, I think, what you and I probably look forward to maybe the most out of the year is this kind of upcoming segments, which is we get to go and we get to make picks as if we were the GMs of these NFL teams. And I want to set a few parameters here before we get started.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
Are we making picks as if we were the GMs or as if we are the teams? No.
SPEAKER 03 :
I would like to make the picks as if we were the GMs. It’s going to be a mix, okay? Okay. Let me tell you, at number two, I really think the Jets are probably going to do something stupid, but I’m going to tell you in advance, at number two, I’m going to do it as if they were smart.
SPEAKER 12 :
That’s saying a lot for the Jets, Andy.
SPEAKER 03 :
I know. Okay, the Jets almost every year just do something head-scratching where you’re just like, why? Why would you do this? Okay, I’m going to predict that they’re smart for once. I’m going to try it just because I can’t handle it. All right?
SPEAKER 12 :
That’s asking a lot. I can’t bear the jest. That’s asking a lot.
SPEAKER 03 :
Some of these teams, I look at them and I’m just like, I can’t handle you being this stupid. Please, please.
SPEAKER 12 :
You are correct. Okay, so some of the picks are going to be us as the GM. Some of them, and we’ll make sure we clarify so that way folks know. Andy, I know we’ve had a good record here over the past few years of making very, I guess, accurate picks. assessments of the draft.
SPEAKER 03 :
I don’t know if we’re going to be so lucky. There’s always a couple crazy curveballs that throw off everybody’s mock draft.
SPEAKER 12 :
And I just don’t know if we’re going to have that this year.
SPEAKER 03 :
This year looks like it’s going to be all curveballs. It looks like it’s curveball central. The first pick is going to be a fastball right down the center. You get to swing away. After that, it gets crazy.
SPEAKER 12 :
I don’t even know if you’d call it a curveball or a fastball down the middle. I think this is like a… T-ball. Yeah, a T-ball. Because that’s about the only pick that I think somewhat makes sense. And again, folks, if you didn’t join us for the first hour, we kind of talked about it. This draft is going to be a little bit more chaotic for us. football followers, right, Andy? Yes. If you’re kind of a casual or you’re watching from afar, maybe you’re just turning it on tonight because you don’t want to watch NBA or you don’t want to watch NHL and your favorite reality show’s not on, I’m not sure, and you’re kind of like, okay, what’s happening? It’s going to feel normal to you. Now, I think there has a potential, Andy, for some more trades. Again, as we talked about last segment, I think it’ll be interesting to see how many teams actually trade picks next year versus this year. And I don’t know if that’ll tamper trade expectations, but every year, Andy, I feel like everyone gets worked up that, oh, we’re going to have a lot of trades this year.
SPEAKER 03 :
Let me look at it this way, okay? Look at it politically for a moment. You know, all of the analysts on, say, MSNBC, CNN, the day after Trump wins or even in the night as you look on through the night. And obviously you see their faces, their crestfallen, they’re upset. But also you look at all their predictions for the week leading up. Kamala, she’s really coming on strong. She really has a good chance, right? Yes. Or Hillary. Hillary’s locked in. Man, she’s up 10 points. This is going to be easy. And then you see how they look the day after. That is how almost every mock draft analyst is going to look tomorrow.
SPEAKER 12 :
It is going to be a weird night. I was going to say, because it feels like that, Andy. And again, for folks that don’t, it just feels very… Unpredictable is probably the fairest way I know how to say it, right, Andy? Yeah. There’s just not a lot. And again, it’s just because of the quality of this draft, folks. And what we’re saying by that is usually you have some really high-end talent and you can kind of peg talent because, Andy, as much as teams say that they like to take the best player available, it really should say we’re taking the best player or we feel who is the best player at a position of need. A lot of teams say that we’re going to take the best player. It doesn’t happen. And I’ll be honest, sometimes when it does happen, you kind of look at them and say, oh, that was a silly pick because you guys need an offensive tackle. You just took a wide receiver.
SPEAKER 03 :
And you already have three good wide receivers. Exactly. And you have no line to block. These people say you always got to go best player, best player, best player, best player. Really? Yeah. I think for the most part you do, but you can’t be totally religious about that because what if your quarterback has nobody to block for him?
SPEAKER 12 :
I don’t care if you get a fourth good receiver. What if the best player is a quarterback, right? When we get to the back of the first round, I think some teams may be coming up for Ty. You want to come up for Ty Simpson, who’s a quarterback out of Alabama. I agree. And if you’re one of those, again, if you’re at the back half of the first round, I’ll be honest, if you’re the Dolphins, who now have a pick at 30, as we were just talking about with the Broncos, but I think you’re more than a quarterback away.
SPEAKER 03 :
And I think if you’re the Dolphins, you’ve got to – You’re looking at the Arizona Cardinals who are picking about five picks later, and you’re saying, come on up. We need another pick.
SPEAKER 12 :
We need another pick. And actually, we don’t want to this year give us another third rounder next year.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 12 :
Right? And so I’m with you, Andy. I think that that’s how this draft should go, but again, how we think it should go versus how it does go. All right. The other key piece before we get started, because, Andy, the first pick is going to take us a whopping – it’s going to take me longer to pull up the draft than it is going to be for me to click it. Yeah. What is one thing… That’s everything we’ve said. Okay. What is one thing that you feel like is being the most overlooked by the greater NFL community in this draft? One thing that… And what I mean by overlooked is… We sometimes tend to undervalue certain players or certain positions, or we tend to overvalue quarterbacks, whatever. What is one thing that, again, our listeners who aren’t always as in tune to the NFL as you and I are, what is one thing that maybe some of these other pundits are missing in this draft?
SPEAKER 03 :
I think offensive linemen are undervalued going in here. I think this offensive line draft is very strong. I think you could have eight or nine tonight. In the first round? Yeah, I’m not saying you will. But I’m saying it’s that deep in the offensive line. I think… There are going to be teams that really should just grab an offensive lineman and build for the future and not worry about getting that sexy pick.
SPEAKER 12 :
But, yeah, an offensive lineman is not sexy, but it’s where the good teams start, Andy. Yeah, I think that’s what I think. How about you? What do you think? You know, I was going to say, actually, you know, I kind of took the words out of my mouth. I think that the non-sexy picks will make or break this draft for a lot of teams. I agree. The linebacker. Not an edge guy, but a linebacker. A offensive lineman. A run-stuffing defensive tackle. A safety. I think that you can get some of these positions that are deeper, because I do consider offensive line one of the deeper positions in this draft. I consider linebacker one of the deeper positions of this draft. I agree. They’re not sexy picks. but they are valuable picks in that you need those types of players on your team.
SPEAKER 03 :
There’s also an awful lot of edge guys. And I’m not talking in first round. I’m talking through the third round. There are edge guys everywhere.
SPEAKER 12 :
Perfect. Well, I was going to get to the first pick, but it’ll be so quick, Andy, when we come back for this. Real quick, are those your deepest position groups for this draft? Edge, line, and maybe linebacker? Yeah. Is that what you’d say? I would think so.
SPEAKER 03 :
What do you think?
SPEAKER 12 :
I’m going to add one in there for you. Okay. Running back. Running back.
SPEAKER 03 :
You know, yes and no. And here’s the thing. You’ve got one who’s obviously going to be locked in in the top five, six picks. You may not have another one in the first round. The next one might go first round, but he may not. Correct, correct. And then you have a drop-off. But then, now, after that, you get around early mid-second round.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 03 :
You’re going to have a run.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, that’s kind of where I’m looking. That’s where it’s really good. Mid-second through the end of the third, you could see quite a few running. And I actually think that… They’re good. You’ve got a guy out of Arkansas who’s 230 pounds, I think 6’2″, and he runs a 4’3″. I know, he’s a freak. He’s a freak. He can’t hold onto the ball, but that’s a different conversation. I think there’s some interesting stuff. With that said, Andy, we’re going to come back. We’re going to jam on the draft, folks. Again, you’ve got the rush to whatever you want to call it, NFL draft, but you have Richard Rush, Andy Pate, Rush to Reason, KLZ 560.

Does your wife only give you easy tasks around home? In her mind, yes. In my mind, they are impossible tasks.

Oh, okay.
SPEAKER 12 :
In the list, as she will admit, and she’ll probably text me right now, that the list is ever-growing and just not getting… But that’s my… Well, OK, that’s that’s my insight, Andy, that I’ve grown as a as a married man now that the honeydew list never gets shorter.
SPEAKER 03 :
OK, you see, here’s the thing. You look like a beaten down man. Your wife is very hard on you. She she obviously piles too much on you. Here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to make life easy. OK, I’m going to give you the easiest pick you’ve ever done.
SPEAKER 12 :
You know, Andy, you’re really taking a burden off here.
SPEAKER 03 :
I’m doing it for you because, like I said, you look worn down. So here you go. The top pick in the NFL draft, the Las Vegas Raiders. Who are they going to choose?
SPEAKER 12 :
Can I tank the franchise, Andy, here by doing what I’m not supposed to? That’s probably not right, right?
SPEAKER 03 :
No, you can’t do that. I know you hate the Raiders, but you cannot take a punter.
SPEAKER 12 :
Can’t take a punter. Or I can’t not take the pick. By the way, folks, this year, Andy, real quick note, eight minutes is all for each first round pick. Good. Versus ten minutes. The first round was too long. I mean, this thing starts at 6 o’clock our time, Andy, ends at like 9.30. Yeah, move it along.
SPEAKER 03 :
Let’s roll. Look, you’ve been talking to each other about trades for the last two months. Eight minutes is enough.
SPEAKER 12 :
It’s ready to go. You’ve been doing research. There’s not that many surprises. Let’s roll.
SPEAKER 03 :
Maybe they need Donald Trump. To do the trades. He would fix it. Yeah, he could make the deal.
SPEAKER 12 :
He’d say, thank you for your attention on this matter.
SPEAKER 03 :
Exactly. That’s right. All right, Andy.
SPEAKER 12 :
So yes, easiest pick. I’m not going to spend much time. Raiders are going to take what they think and who they think is their next franchise quarterback. Fernando Mendoza, quarterback out of Indiana. He’s the best quarterback by far in this draft, Andy. You and I talked about him a little bit earlier. I think he’s got a few hurdles to kind of overcome. But overall, I think he’s going to… I think he’ll succeed, but I guess we’ll wait to see to what extent. So with that being said, Andy, where I think most pundits, you and I as well, think the draft starts, you are on the clock. The New York Jets at number two. They couldn’t get number one. Where are they going?
SPEAKER 03 :
Are they trading? Are they picking? No, they’re picking. The Jets have a lot of needs, obviously. I won’t go into them. There are too many. They have more needs than there are positions, I think, on a football team. I am going to give the Jets credit for being smart. Now, most of the world believes that they are going to take David Bailey edge out of Texas Tech. I’m not going to do that. And I love David Bailey. Don’t get me wrong. I think he’s a terrific pass rusher. However… Arvel Reese, the edge out of Ohio State, has more upside. He’s a little bit more athletic. He is two years younger than David Bailey, which means that a lot of the development that David Bailey has done over the last two years, that’s still laying in front of Arvel Reese. Arvel Reese is a freak. The guy moves beautifully. And by the way, he’s not just a pass rusher. He’s not the pass rusher Bailey is yet. Okay, he’s got to work on that more. He’ll develop that, but he’s going to develop that. He is a guy who I’m suddenly spacing. Who was the great linebacker you guys had for so many years here in Denver?
SPEAKER 12 :
From?
SPEAKER 03 :
Von Miller. Yeah. He reminds me of Von Miller. Okay. I can see it. He’s got the bend. He’s got the bend, but also Von Miller wasn’t just a pass rusher. He could take down the runner. He was good against the run. He was good against the pass. He was good in all aspects of the game. That is Arval Reese. He does everything well. He is just coming in a little younger. He’s two years younger. He’s going to need a little time to develop. Here’s why I would take him if I were the Jets, because they’re not going to be any good for the next year or two. There’s no reason you need to rush and get a guy who can rush the passer better right now. Why do that? Get the younger guy because you’re going to have time to develop him.
SPEAKER 12 :
I would agree with you. Get the younger guy with better potential. Yeah, so I’m going to go Arvel Reese. Okay, Arvel Reese, edge out of Ohio State. I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad pick, Andy, which then leads to the Cardinals. Could be interesting. They need a quarterback, Andy. They just got rid of Kyler Murray. Well, there’s no quarterback there. Right. And that’s, again, folks, one thing this year that you haven’t seen in the past. Well, I guess you saw a little bit last year. There’s not a lot of quarterbacks available this year. Available, and what I mean by that is not really great options, Andy. I think Ty Simpson could be. You’ve got the kid out of North Dakota State. Peyton, I think, is his last name. He’s getting quite a bit of run. I think some intriguing second, third, fourth round options for some of these teams to kind of take a stab at. But again, really a bad year if you need a quarterback to have a pick in the top five.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, and you’re not going to get a Bo Nix at 12.
SPEAKER 12 :
No, you’re not.
SPEAKER 03 :
There’s nothing like that in this draft.
SPEAKER 12 :
It’s not the 2020, what’s that, 2024 draft?
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. But here’s the good news. If you’re the Cardinals, why would you need to rush to get a quarterback with this pick?
SPEAKER 12 :
You’re building a team. To me, Andy, if you’re the Cardinals, you trade. So actually, I’m going to have a trade proposed. Okay. We’ll see if we go with it. And I’m going to say, because there’s been some rumors. And by the way, Andy and I decided ahead of time if we want to propose a trade, we’re fine. But we both kind of have to go agree with it, of course. Okay. I’m going to say the New Orleans Saints are going to try to move up because they think they’re closer, Andy. And I wanted him to go for Arvel Reese, but they see David Bailey there. They see he’s an instant impact defender. And so they’re going to offer their first round pick at number eight, of course, and their first round pick next year in 2027 to move from number eight to number three. What say you?
SPEAKER 03 :
I say if the Saints do this, they are idiots. And I agree with you. Because they are a dumb team.
SPEAKER 12 :
But if you’re the Cardinals, you’ve got to do that trade, correct? Oh, absolutely.
SPEAKER 03 :
Look, the Saints are a team that has destroyed their salary cap over the last several years.
SPEAKER 12 :
And they’re finally starting to get back on it, Andy.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, they’re finally getting on their cap. But they’re not one good player away from contending. That’s why I say this would be so stupid. And they are a stupid team. I agree. I totally agree with you. A stupid team will do stupid things. I could see this happening.
SPEAKER 12 :
And I’m going to do it because, again, honestly, folks, I’ve seen enough smoke through social media and through other areas that I think that the Saints may try to go do it. And, again, I think the Cardinals, Andy, are anxious to move back in the first round because they know, Andy, they know where they’re at. But they’re going to be stunned if that deal is offered. I would agree with you. And honestly, why would not? Because I think the Saints aren’t going to be that good next year. So with that said, Andy, the Saints are now on the clock, and I think this is where they’re going to come in and take David Bailey, edge out of Texas Tech. He’s the best player available outside of Jeremiah Love, but they don’t really need a running back at this point in time. So on to you, Andy. The Titans, who have a new head coach. Cam Ward showed promise last year as a quarterback. Dare I say this is a spot for Jeremiah Love?
SPEAKER 03 :
You dare, and you dare correctly. I’m going to say, look, I’m going to say Jeremiah Love here to the Tennessee Titans. Now, by the way, Love could fall all the way to number seven. It’s possible just because he’s a running back, but he is the best player in the draft all around. This guy runs a sub 4’4 with decent size. Okay. He has excellent vision. His hands are glue. He is the, I mean, look, LaDainian Tomlinson. How many years did he torment you when he was with the Chargers?
SPEAKER 12 :
Many, many, Andy.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, here he is. Okay. This is LaDainian Tomlinson. This is Saquon Barkley. And the difference is the Titans are not the Giants. Okay. The Titans have a better offensive line than the Giants had when the Giants took Saquon Barkley. Now, am I saying that this is the pick I would make? No, it isn’t, actually. I would take Sonny Stiles. But is this the pick that I believe that the Titans will make? Yes. And the reason is they want their young quarterback to have an incredible weapon like this to take the pressure off him.
SPEAKER 12 :
And I think, honestly, again, I don’t love it, and I still am going to hold to my philosophy of I hate running backs in the first round, especially if you’re in the top five, unless there’s some really surprising conditions there. But this is one where I can see it because you do have a quarterback. They have a decent offensive line. I think that they can definitely improve it. But, I mean, it was just a few years ago, Andy, that Derrick Henry was there, and I know Mike Vrabel was that coach, which is another conversation. Right. I can see it being a value.
SPEAKER 03 :
But they don’t have the Giants line. When they took Saquon, their line was awful. And Saquon went in there and just got killed. Tennessee is not in that bad of shape. So once again, would I take this guy here? No, I wouldn’t. But I believe they will.
SPEAKER 12 :
You think they will. All right, so then that is going to be the Titans taking Jeremiah Love, who is your number one player on the board. Slips down to number four.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. Perfect. I just don’t like the position, but go ahead. Fair enough.
SPEAKER 12 :
All right. I am now up here with the New York Giants, Andy. John’s New York Giants, I should say. You’ve got to help John out. Well, again, as we were talking about, I would have hoped that Jeremiah Love would have fallen. I’m not sure he will. I know the direction you think they may go here, Andy, as far as we talked about maybe receiver. I know John talked about maybe Ed Reed.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s not what I think here.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, I guess I’ll ask that. What do you think here?
SPEAKER 03 :
Not that you get to make the pick. I would take Stiles. You would take Stiles? Yeah, because he is right in the middle of your defense. This is a wonderful player. Sonny Stiles. He’s a freak. He is a freak. But he’s not just a freak, folks. He’s a freak who can play football.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 03 :
He is a guy you put right in the middle, and yet he can fly to the edges. He can fly everywhere on the field. And, oh, you know, you get a lot of these guys who are these missiles, but they have no vision. So they’re an unguided missile, right? They’re a scud. You have no idea where they’re going to go. Not this guy. He knows where he’s going. This guy is the next Fred Warner. This guy is for real. And when you’ve got the next Fred Warner sitting there and you are the New York Giants and you can build around him, oh, my gosh, you take him. I would take Sonny Stiles.
SPEAKER 12 :
Okay, fair enough. Andy, I hear to me that the Giants need – they do need a wide receiver, linebacker. They need a lot. Yeah. They need a lot. I mean, it would not surprise me. I guess let me put it this way. I actually like the Stiles pick. I think they may go wide receiver here with potentially Jordan Tyson because I think he has the most potential in the draft of the wide receivers, even over Carnell Tate. If healthy. Well, that’s the key. I also could see them, well, I could see them taking Caleb Downs because I think, again, to me, he’s the top player in this draft. But positional value, you don’t take a safety at five. So with that, I’m actually with you, Andy. And you kind of convinced me. I was on the fence. Like I said, I would have liked maybe to go wide receiver. But I’ll go with Sonny Stiles, linebacker out of Ohio State here. And we have time, Andy. You are now on the clock with your, not your beloved, but, you know, the team that’s going to make a mess of this draft. The Cleveland Browns at number six.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yes, so I don’t know what punter or kicker that they are going to take. Look, somehow the Browns are going to mess up the first round, okay? They’re going to do it, but the Browns need an offensive lineman or a wide receiver. It is very obvious, so you just take them, okay? And there are two offensive linemen here. Who are, you know, you got Maui. I’m going to say Maui Goa. Maui Goa. Well, let’s go with it. As long as we’re consistent. Actually, I think it’s Maui Loa. Maui Loa. But I’m going to take Spencer Fano. I like that. And he’s the offensive tackle out of Utah. This guy is the total package. And this is a guy, he’s a left tackle who you put there and you lock in there for a decade and you don’t even think about left tackle anymore. This guy is excellent.
SPEAKER 12 :
So he’s their new Joe Thomas.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. He is Joe Thomas. He is so much like Joe Thomas. Because not only is he terrific athletically, which he is, very light on his feet. I would, if I were him, add 10 pounds. I can see that. Which, by the way, no problem. NFL, they’ll put it on it.
SPEAKER 12 :
It’s fascinating, the NFL strength program. But I agree with you, Andy. And this is one where, honestly, the Browns need good players. Yeah. Speaking quickly on them, and then we’ll get to break. Obviously, I’m biased with Shador Sanders. They should not play Deshaun Watson this year. No, no. And Dylan Gabriel should be the backup. They should roll with Shador this year. See how they do. Yeah, I agree. And if they do well, then great. And guess what? If not, next year’s quarterback class has the potential to be very rich. And so your goal this year should be to be terrible. Or maybe you found something in Shador Sanders with the whatever. I think he was a fifth round pick last year, whatever it might be. And you move on.

All right, I am up, Andy. I’ve got the Washington Commanders on the clock. Pick number seven. They need a lot, even though they had a great year a few years ago, went to the NFC Championship game. They had an equally terrible year this past year, and you could argue it’s for injuries. I definitely get that. Andy, to me, this pick is they need help for their young quarterback. And don’t get me wrong, they had some help. They had some players last year, but I just feel like they need help this year. Although, as we were talking in the break, Dan Quinn, who is their coach… He’s a defensive guy, and I think he could be pushing for a top defensive player here.
SPEAKER 03 :
But that’s just not their need. I mean, their number one need. I mean, their number one need is wide receiver. Their defensive needs are like third or fourth.
SPEAKER 12 :
I agree. I totally agree. And especially with a defensive coach, I think he feels like maybe he can sort of fill some of the gaps that they have on that side of the ball. So with that, Andy, I’m just going to jump right in. Carnell Tate, wide receiver out of Ohio State. I don’t think he has the highest ceiling. of any of the wide receivers but to me he has one of the highest floors and that i think he’s going to be a consistent wide receiver in the nfl for a number of years um he has a little bit of i i i wouldn’t say injury concern um but maybe consistency issues i mean because he did share the field with uh arguably the top wide receiver next year’s draft and uh um Jarrett, what’s his name there in Ohio State?

They put out so many. They are the wide receiver, you. They’ve got a top wide receiver next year, and he’s kind of split the field with him. I think he’s really solid, Andy. I don’t know if he’s game-breaking. I don’t know if he’s worth the pick at No. 7, but I think he’s our best option.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, I’m going to tell you this. Carnell Tate last year had a ton of throws his way. How many did he drop?
SPEAKER 12 :
Zero.
SPEAKER 03 :
Zero. Yeah, he’s really sure-handed. Okay, this guy, and by the way, he gets open. He runs incredible routes. He’s not even fast, folks. He’s not even a good athlete. This guy is a below-average wide receiver athlete. Doesn’t matter. He gets open immediately. You know what he reminds me of? If Devontae Adams had come out of college with great hands, which he didn’t, But if he came out of college with great hands, he would have been this guy. He would have been Carnell Tate.

He would. And that’s where I think he needs that, Andy. Daniels needs that, Washington’s quarterback. He does. Jayden Daniels does. He needs the security blanket. He needs the security blanket. I think that’s what it is. So with that said, Andy, you are now on the clock, however, with a different team than you were expecting before. Instead of the Saints, the Cardinals have gained extra picks. They are now on the clock, and they need help. Everywhere. How could you do this to me?

It was so simple. I had the Saints. It was going to be Caleb Downs. It was easy. Caleb Downs is a safety. That is not even in the top six needs for Arizona. It’s nowhere on the board for Arizona whatsoever, and neither is cornerback, who is the other best player right now. But there is a thing they need, and that’s offensive tackle. And there’s a guy who honestly could already be gone by this point if the draft falls his way. I don’t think he will be. I think he’ll be there. I’m going to go Francis Mauinoa, the offensive tackle out of Miami.

Mawioa. Yeah, I think it’s Mawinoa. I think the G you pronounce as an N. You know what, Andy?

This guy is a monster, okay? He is very light on his feet, very powerful, and already technically sound. Mawinoa should – this is the kind of thing where this guy could be a top ten pick in a lot of drafts. Yes. Not just a week year like this. He is good. And I think he’ll be great for Arizona. What do you think?

Yes, I absolutely. I agree with you, Andy. I think that, again, I think the Cardinals know where they’re at. And I think sometimes one of the best things that you can do in life, in business and whatever, but especially in the NFL, is realize where you’re at versus where you’re not. And the Cardinals are not in line to compete yet. No. They need a quarterback, but they know that this is not the year to go get one.

Build the line. Build your defense. I would like the Caleb Downs pick. It’s just a little bit with some of the other – again, with the offensive tackle depth, but especially kind of the top offensive tackles to me, Andy. Right. That’s where this feels good. He’s one of the top two. You’re absolutely right. All right. On to – Not my beloved Chiefs, Andy. Your beloved Chiefs! Nope, nope, nope. No, Andy, don’t. Andy, this is like… Charlie, that’s… Come on, do it with me! We need the drop button for that because we can’t be doing that nonsense. All right, we do have the Chiefs, Andy. I think they could go a number of directions. Yeah. They need a corner. We talked about that. But to me, it feels like they’re going to kind of go back. Whoa. Or sorry, I think they would like to go back. But to me, I think they can get a corner at 30 or not 30. I think they’re at like 28 or 29. Are you sure? I am. Because I just don’t. Andy, to me, and we talked about this guy, we’ll spend just a second.

The next Pat Sertain is sitting right there. Who do you think that is? I think that’s Mansford Delane. Oh, okay. I can see that, Andy. I think he is the next Pat Sertain. Now, does that mean he will be as good? I don’t know. You’ve got to see how he develops, but I’m telling you what. Coming out of college, this is the next Pat Sertain. Sertain’s really… And you’re the Chiefs who have to play Sertain twice a year. You know what that means.

I was going to say, Andy, Sertain is really… I mean, honestly, he’s really… You’re good. He’s really hard to kind of compare against. So I’ll give you that. However… I’ll say this, and I’ll be honest here, and yes, I’m getting mad at someone’s T-Rex’s arms. If Reuben Bain had longer arms, I think he would be the no-doubt decision here.

And I think that’s the key. I don’t think in this case they will take the risk. And while I think that he’s going to be a really talented player, um and i think he can overcome that i just don’t think the chiefs can potentially take that risk when they when they have the top corner sitting there so what about caleb downs um just flat out greatness yeah but the way that the chiefs play defense and obviously i’ve seen it they they don’t rely on their safeties in the way that caleb honestly i don’t think they’d utilize him the way that he really could be utilized

Well, the guy runs a sub 4-4 at safety.

Sub 4-4, and he’s just a really solid player. He just makes smart decisions all the time. He’s just great. But the defensive scheme for the Chiefs doesn’t fall into that, to be honest with you. Fair enough. All right, I will go with—oh, I almost picked it. What are you going to take? I’m going to go with Monsoor Delaney, Andy. Oh, you’re going to do it? You talked me into it. So I’ll go with the cornerback, Ellis, you hear Andy, which leads you— I took the first Giants pick. You now have the second Giants pick. And Andy, there’s a guy sitting there. This isn’t going to happen. I know, but that John from Cheyenne. This isn’t going to happen. I’m just saying.

Caleb Downs. Look, I don’t know. Somehow, some way. And I mean, I like our picks that we’ve made in the first nine, but there’s no way Caleb Downs is not going in the top nine. Now. He’s there in this pick, so yeah. Because here’s what I think, okay? I think he’s going to go in the top nine picks, and they’re going to take Jordan Tyson at number 10. That’s what I expect tonight, okay? But… Caleb Downs is there right now. I’m not going to take Jordan Tyson. I’m taking Caleb Downs. I like it. All day. I like it. Okay, so the Giants get Caleb Downs along with Sonny Stiles. Wow. Up the middle of your defense.

I was going to say, Andy, John Harbaugh is tickled pink. He is loving life right now. And honestly, I think John from Cheyenne probably is too because you’re rebuilding your defense. And I think that they can get a receiver, like John said. Get him later. They can get him later. They can get him in the second round and third round.

If you get those two players, Oh my gosh. And by the way, you’re in a division where other teams quite honestly are largely in decline. We don’t know about the, the, the, uh, commanders, but. Wow.

That would just be wow. To me, Andy, I think that’s a launch pad for your for sure. And I was gonna say that. And actually, to me, though, Andy, it feels like the well, if they walk away with that, there’s not a lot of, again, elite, elite players in this draft. But that would be two very, very solid players in the top 10 needed to remake your team. And I think they would take that. So, all right. Okay. I’m on Andy to the Dolphins at their, well, I guess they’re at 11. This is their first of two first-round picks, right? We talked about the second one earlier. Right.

And so now you’re sitting there and you’ve got Reuben Bain and you’ve got Caleb Downs. I mean, not Caleb Downs. You’ve got Reuben Bain and you’ve got Jordan Tyson. Because they also need a wide receiver. I mean, this is tough.

The Dolphins need a lot. They need a wide receiver. They need everything. I was going to say, they need a wide receiver. They need a tackle.

Okay, don’t tell me what you would do. I know you wouldn’t take Tyson because of the injuries. However, if healthy, he’s the most dangerous wide receiver in this draft. If you are the Miami Dolphins, do you take a risk on a guy like that when you have to have your picks come through? No, Andy.

What do you do? To me… To me, at this point in time, I’m looking at the board. I actually think I go with Reuben Bain. Me too. I would too, but we’ll wait. To answer your question as the risk, I think so because, again, to me, I think what he makes up in his lack of arm length, and yes, folks, we’re talking about arm length here on the radio in Denver, Colorado at 444 on a Thursday afternoon in April. I think he makes up with a motor, Andy, and I think, honestly, down in Miami, their new Head coach, who was your old defensive coordinator at the Packers, I think he wants that, and he just wants the motor. He wants a high-energy, high-motor kind of guy. And that’s why I think Reuben Bain will make up for his lack of arm length. So, all right. I’m going to go with Reuben Bain, Andy. Yeah. In my mock before today, that’s where I’ve got him going.

But I’ll be honest, I don’t see a partner right now. I don’t see a good trade partner. I’m with you. I don’t see it. I don’t see anybody saying, nah, I got to get up there to get my kind of guy. I think they’re stuck. OK, I think they’re stuck. I think they’re in a bad spot. And because of that, I’m going to have him do the Jarrah thing and swing for the fences stupidly because he he’s a dumb man. Yes. And he’s going to take Jordan Tyson, the wide receiver out of Arizona State, who’s had an ACL, a collarbone and a hamstring already as a college player when he’s at his healthiest. Okay.

And he could not end up playing in the league very long. But I think he has the absolute talent and makeup to be a – A game-changing wide receiver. And we were talking before the draft, folks. The Cowboys do have two really good wide receivers right now. They have C.D. Lamb out of Oklahoma. Signed him to a big money. They just franchise-tagged George Pickens. He just signed that. We’re not going to get into the weeds. But that means he can be traded. And honestly, Andy, if I had to pick between Jordan Tyson or George Pickens, I actually think George Pickens is a more talented receiver. Not when healthy. Well, as far as who you’re getting upstairs in the head, I don’t trust him.

Tyson’s a good kid.

I don’t trust George Pickens. So I think there’s a potential they could get rid of him. So I don’t necessarily hate this pick, Andy, but the Cowboys fans might.

Look, here’s the thing. If Caleb Downs drops all the way to number 10 so the Giants can take him and Tyson is therefore available, I believe Dallas takes Tyson and trades away Pickens.

I could see that. Or, Andy, I could see if Caleb Downs drops. And granted, you don’t see trades within division a lot. So I think if he drops to 10 where the Giants were at, I don’t know how the Cowboys can come up and get him.

Well, the Giants aren’t going to give Caleb Downs to Jarrah.

And that’s the issue for Jarrah. So, all right, Andy, with that said, we are on to number 13, the Rams here. I actually think this is an easy pick because – They sort of – well, Sean McVay, I think it’s one of two guys here. Okay. I think it’s two West Coast guys. It’s either Makai Lemon out of USC or it’s Kenyon Sadiq, the physical freak tight end from Oregon. They kind of need both. And to me – It’s a win-win. It’s a win-win, and I don’t think they can go wrong. So to me, I’m going to go with Makai Lemon. And like you say, I think that he does have a little bit of injury risk.

associated with him um but he runs crisp routes um i don’t think he dropped i i don’t have the stats in front of me i don’t think he’s a huge pass dropper he runs wonderful routes the guy has glue for hands he is once again he’s not a great athlete it doesn’t matter you can’t stop him he will keep catching this guy moves this guy moves the the the um chains more than the refs

Andy, I could see him being, well, their version of Cooper Cup, but being what the Seattle Seahawks have in Jackson Smith and Jigba, who was fantastic last year. Similar makeup, similar styles, all the things.

The Broncos way back when, now it’s a different body style, body type, but way back when they had McCaffrey. McCaffrey was not a fast guy. It didn’t matter. He moved the chains.
SPEAKER 12 :
He moved the chains, and you said glue for hands, and that’s what we around here in Denver loved, and he was tough, and I think that’s the only thing that Mekhi Lemon needs a little bit more of. But with that said, Andy, you are on to the Ravens. I have a guy in mind. I’m not sure you’re going to go the route, but you’ve got the Ravens who have this pick because they didn’t trade it to the Raiders, and they traditionally don’t pick this high in the draft, but they had a terrible year last year as well. So where do they go?

Well, you see, because I’m a Christian, I avoid temptation. Okay? I am obviously very tempted to take Kenyon Sadiq here. I’m not going to do it. Nope, nope. I’m going to eat my vegetables. I’m going to eat my vegetables and build where it matters up front in the line, and I’m taking Vega Ayona, the offensive guard out of Penn State.

As much as I hate to say it, that’s a good pick, Eddie.

This guy moves grown men who don’t want to be moved, period. He moves them. He is wonderful. And Baltimore is terrible at guard. They are terrible. So I’m going to have Baltimore eat their vegetables. and live a good, pure life and take Vega-Iona. What do you think?

I feel like they lost. I know Mark Andrews is back, but they lost Isaiah Likely this year to the Giants, actually. It would not surprise me either way because the Ravens do that.

The Ravens go with the safe pick, and I know they’ve got Jesse Minter as their new head coach.

It’s tough, isn’t it? It is tough, but I think to me they’re going to go defense here. Okay. Another edge out of Miami. There you go. Mezzador. And so, folks, again, Miami had – if you watch the national championship game, Miami had two good edge players. Oh, yeah. Again, Reuben Bain, short arms, but he still played really well. Mezzador, to me, I don’t know if he’s the – I guess he’s a little bit more physical of the two, Andy. I guess not physical in the way – physically physically. I guess, acclimated more to what the NFL is looking for in a prospect. Right. So, again, I think both Miami Edge players stay in the state of Florida. Akeem the dream. Akeem the dream. Hey, let’s not get carried away.

But you know what? Boston is a terrifying guy. He is big. He is incredibly physical. He comes down with everything. He is the best receiver in traffic in this entire draft. OK, and I’m going to take Denzel Boston, besides which, you know, me, I loved anybody named Denzel.

OK, Denzel. Yeah, I’m going to take Denzel Boston out of Washington. And it’s close. OK, because I do like the other two, but I’m going to go with him.
