President Biden showed his true colors Thursday night in a debate for the centuries. Really, the debate was a depressing referendum on the state of our Republic right now.
For some background, if you have been on an island for the last two weeks, President Biden and his camp said that they would debate President Trump only if he agreed to a few rules.
The problem is, those rules were hilariously and terrifyingly stacking the deck for Biden, and really showed that the DNC truly knows how sick the aging President is. They bandied about a few rules, and at one time CNN, the network presenting the debate, riled BOTH sides, by deciding in the 11th hour that JOURNALISTS would not be allowed in earshot of the debate. 🤦♂️
Those rules were, among others: No audience. The mics would be muted when it is not your turn to speak. No earpieces or computers, laptops, etc. You are allowed a small notecard and nothing to write with (this rule was reversed the day of the debate, and Joe Biden was allowed to clutch his pen in horror throughout the debate), and absolutely no journalists allowed in the debate room.

These rules ruin the entire reason for having a debate, namely getting two candidates together to see how they answer questions, AND how they interact with one another. The fact that CNN made the rules they did was telling.
At any rate, this post is not about those rules, but I did want you to understand that the entire debate was stacked in favor of the Democrat. Clearly, without denial, CNN was pro-Biden from the start, and they thought that this would dissuade President Trump from agreeing.
Gleefully he agreed.
(I will say, as an aside, that despite the anchors hosting having called Trump a NAZI repeatedly, and being not at all impartial, they did a pretty good job hiding their hatred of the man last night)
There were an impressive number of mumbles, gaffes and misspeaks last night from President Biden (we beat mediare?!?). But for this post I’m going to focus on one gaffe in particular, when Biden thought he would wrangle Trump into flip flopping or lying about his stance on abortion. He did not. But Biden didn’t seem to understand any part of it…maybe not even what the word means.
When Biden yelled about Roe vs Wade, he said:
“It’s been a terrible thing, what you’ve done,” referring to Trump appointing judges that overturned Roe v. Wade.
He later claimed: “The fact is that the vast majority of constitutional scholars supported Roe when it was decided, supported Roe.”
But this, of course is false. The majority of constitutional scholars for the last 50 years have said that Roe vs Wade was a terrible decision, that the right to abortion had nothing to do with the federal government. Of course Biden, not to be bothered by those facts, continued mumbling and eventually somehow latched back onto the immigration crisis. He deliberately downplayed the rapes and murders of young women over the last few weeks, a result that both Biden and Mayorkas’ decisions are responsible for:
“Look, there’s so many young women who have been – including a young woman who just was murdered and he – he went to the funeral,” Biden said. “The idea that she was murdered by a – by –by an immigrant coming in, and they talk about that.”
“But here’s the deal, there’s a lot of young women who are being raped by their – by their in-laws, by their – by their spouses, brothers and sisters, by – just – it’s just – it’s just ridiculous,” Biden claimed. “And they can do nothing about it. And they tried to arrest them when they cross state lines.”
If you saw the debate, I apologize on behalf of every politician from the past 270 years. If you didn’t, congratulations. It was a sad, sad commentary on the state of US politics in 2024.
