SPEAKER 20 :
It’s the Kim Monson Show, analyzing the most important stories.
SPEAKER 16 :
The socialization of transportation, education, energy, housing, and water. What it means is that government controls it through rules and regulations.
SPEAKER 20 :
The latest in politics and world affairs.
SPEAKER 16 :
Under this guise of bipartisanship and nonpartisanship, it’s actually tapping down the truth.
SPEAKER 20 :
Today’s current opinions and ideas.
SPEAKER 16 :
On an equal field in the battle of ideas, mistruths and misconceptions is getting us into a world of hurt.
SPEAKER 20 :
Is it freedom or is it force? Let’s have a conversation.
SPEAKER 16 :
Indeed. Let’s have a conversation. And welcome to the Kim Monson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You each are treasured. You’re valued. You have purpose. Today, strive for excellence. Take care of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your body. My friends, we were made for this moment in history. Thank you to the team. That’s Producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Teresa, Amanda, and all the people here at Crawford Broadcasting. Happy Wednesday, Producer Joe. Happy Wednesday, Kim. And if it’s Wednesday, that means it’s Wings Day at Hooters restaurants. You buy 20 wings, you get an additional 10 for free. And that is for to go or to dine in. And they have locations in Loveland, Westminster and on Parker Road in Aurora. and a great place to get together to watch all the games with your friends we’re into football season so be sure and check that out how i got to know them really important story it was when i was on city council uh really saw this uh this example of the rub between freedom and free markets and capitalism and those pbis those politicians bureaucrats and interested parties that seem to want to control our lives and that’s how i got to know them i really value them as a sponsor of the show. And so also wanna say thank you to Laramie Energy. Bob Boswell was on yesterday. Really an important conversation. We talk about the freedom that we have from reliable, efficient, affordable, and abundant power. And that comes from naturally occurring hydrocarbons, such as oil, natural gas, and coal, that powers our lives, fuels our hopes and dreams, and empowers us to change our own personal climate. The weather is changing, and so we can be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. And, of course, to help you with all of that regarding our individual climate change, being warm in the winter and cool in the summer, check out Ben’s Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling. And you can find all of my sponsors on my website. Just click on the Sponsor tab. And a great way to support the show is to support our great sponsors. I know each and every one of them personally and highly recommend each and every one of them. Hoorah, my friends. The cut ratings report is we’ve hit print. And so they are printing that now. And we’ll have hard copies. We’ll also have copies on the website at coloradotaxpayer.org. But a monumental piece of work by all of our volunteers. And I want to say thank you to all of them. This is my fellow board members, Steve Dorman, Greg Golianski, Russ Haas, Bill Hamill, Rob Knuth, John Nelson, Wendy Warner, Marty Nielsen, Ramey Johnson, Mary Jansen, Dave Evans, Cori Onasorg, Paula Beard, and Ray Beard. This is a monumental piece of work. On the 273 pieces of legislation of which we took positions and got that information to all of our legislators, uh we then that bill hamill who is our treasurer and statistician then ran a report and through all of those pieces of legislation we raided all of the senators and representatives and so it’s a really an informative piece of work and as i say on the show we focus on the issues uh we’ll mention the people on the issues but we really stay out of the personality fighting And so be sure and join us at coloradotaxpayer.org. It’s only $25. And the things that we look at regarding these pieces of legislation is how it affects the taxpayer, which is everybody. We all pay taxes. Protecting Tabor, Colorado’s Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, property rights, and parental rights. And so you check us out at colorado.org. taxpayer.org and join us. As you know, we search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. Something’s a good idea. You should not have to force people to do it. And it’s not compassionate and it’s not altruistic to take other people’s stuff. whether or not it’s their rights, their property, freedom, livelihood, opportunity, childhood, or lives via force. Force can be a weapon, policy, unpredictable in excess of taxation, fear, coercion, government-induced inflation, and this whole agenda by the World Economic Forum that is being played out by the globalist elites, the United Nations, this Colorado governor, this Colorado legislature, and then also at the local level. When you hear the word road diet, what that means is it’s trying to, I think, have people comply, trying to get them out of their cars. As I mentioned, there’s a street over in Centennial Street that it’s not the main thoroughfare, but it’s a good feeder. And one day, all the paint was put in regarding bike lanes and then pylons and then those turtles. Think about, my friends, the amount of time spent to plan that, to put that in a time that we’re paying city employees to do that, and then all the supplies. And you wonder, who’s coming up with that idea? Well, it actually goes all the way back up to the World Economic Forum. So we’ve got to be engaged at the local level and start to battle back to get all of our our rights back and the rights to, if we choose, we want to ride a bike, that’s fine. But, and I, I love to ride a bike, but this forced thing is the real problem and the coercion. So let’s get over here to our word of the day. I did, I went to Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson is such an intriguing character for me. He is the author of the Declaration of Independence and And so I went to the word unalienable and it is not to be separated, given away or taken away. So these unalienable rights that he talks about in the Declaration of Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness, that that was such a great word to use today. And unalienable spelled U-N-A-L-I-E-N-A-B-L-E. And I also looked at inalienable, and I had a commentator that said that there’s a difference between unalienable and inalienable. Not the easiest word to say all the time, but I need to delve into that a bit more. So the word of the day is unalienable, and that’s U-N-A-L-I-E-N-A-B-L-E. And so Jefferson is our quote of the day. He was born in 1743, and he died July 4, 1826, 50 years to the day after the Declaration of Independence was signed. And he and John Adams died on the same day. And the story is that as Adams was on his deathbed, before he died, he said, Jefferson lives, unbeknownst to him that they both died, they passed on on the same day. It’s remarkable. And so Jefferson was an American founding father, third president of the United States, primary author of the Declaration of Independence, was the first U.S. Secretary of State under George Washington and the nation’s second vice president under Adams. And this is what Thomas Jefferson said. When once a republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying it, any of the growing evils by removing… Hold on, let’s start over. when once a republic is corrupted there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles every other correction is either useless or a new evil I think we are in the third founding of our country, very corrupt in our government. And so we have got to be very busy at the ballot box with great candidates who will stand for our American idea. And we need to be engaged and people are doing that. I am so encouraged by all of that. Several of the headlines I wanted to hit. This is pretty remarkable. This is regarding the Middle East. And as of yesterday was the two year anniversary of the attack of Hamas upon Israel. But this is from, let’s see, Eyewitness ABC News. And it says Hamas and Israel are entering a third day of Gaza peace talks with the top Trump envoy expected to join. The fact that they’re having peace talks is absolutely a great sign. And Hamas says it’s seeking firm guarantees from U.S. President Donald Trump and mediators that Israel will not resume its military campaign in the Palestinian territory after the militant group releases all of the remaining hostages. So it looks like they’re making progress on that. Next thing regarding the government shutdown, and this is from Breitbart. Oh, this is super interesting. Let me get over here. I have all these different… Headlines here. Okay. Well, I looked regarding the, are we paying for healthcare for illegal aliens? And the AI that came up on that said, largely no. I love the word, largely no. But the AI report that came up was the talking points of the Democrats. I thought that was very interesting, so we have to be very careful. on using AI. And so I went to Breitbart, and Speaker Johnson shows what Democrats are demanding in order to reopen the government. Taxpayer-funded illegal alien healthcare, $1.5 trillion in partisan spending. And it says he said, facts are stubborn things. Here are the differences between what Republicans passed out of the House and what Democrats are demanding in order to reopen the government. Johnson wrote on social media, sharing a side by side chart showing the differences between what the Republicans in the House have passed and what Democrats are now demanding. Republicans proposed a clean seven week extension of current regulations. Biden era spending levels with no new programs added or partisan spending demands. The chart notes that this plan allows time for continued work on regular bipartisan appropriations, which is already underway. Conversely, Democrats’ dirty continuing resolution puts illegal aliens and able-bodied adults back on free American taxpayer-funded health care and sends half a billion dollars to left-wing media. Okay, so I think that this is a very important thing that’s happening right now. And so I hope that the Republicans stay strong on this. And so very important things going on. And we’ll be talking in the next segment with Mike Rolick. He is a great citizen watchdog and activist on what’s happening in the local level, because local is important. The national is important. These discussions happen because of our sponsors. And the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance Team can help you with all of your insurance needs. I know it’s Mike Rolick. Welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 03 :
Hey, Kim. Yeah, I’ve definitely been called worse. Don’t worry. How are you doing today?
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, I’m doing fine. Actually, during the break, I was talking to producer Joe because I’ve got to get a correct email to him for Mitch Gardner, who was on the show the other day. So that’s what was happening in my brain. So my caroling. What is going on? What do people need to be aware of? I know you recently had the forum for, uh, Arvada city council candidates. These races are so important. So what should people know?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, um, I, you know, I was looking at some things to talk about today. And then last night, uh, um, watched the live stream of an Arvada city meeting. And I wanted to bring something up. That’s really interesting for us has been concerning me. And it’s kind of just open discussion. Um, the city of Nevada yesterday voted in a designated drinking area where similar to like Las Vegas, you can walk from pillar to pillar to post with an open container of alcohol. And at first I’m thinking, well, that sounds like a, a, a, a move towards freedom. But when you look at the devil and the details, this is kind of what I just wanted to sort out with you and the audience and see, see where everybody is on this one. Um, It seems like rather a managed market, and sometimes I’m concerned about when something looks like a freedom move, but it’s really a move to just help out maybe certain businesses or create an environment that is quite controlled. So I don’t know if you’ve heard of these things, but this one seems rather interesting. They drew a map around Old Town, Nevada. And they include the park to the east of, gosh, to the east of Upman Street, if anyone’s familiar. And then there’s Yukon Street where half the block is residences. So I guess I was concerned for, you know, folks’ quiet enjoyment. You know, these rules go from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. But what’s interesting from the freedom side that might be curtailed is you can only drink the takeout beverages from eligible liquor license establishments, and it does not include liquor stores, and you cannot bring your own in. So from what I heard yesterday, it’s a way to kind of keep people downtown and spending money. But the bigger concern – well, two bigger concerns – Each takeout beverage must have a sticker that has a QR code that links to a page of rules. So we start getting into the situation that you and I say, you know, we’re at places and you want to walk out from one store to another or one restaurant to another on a day off and just, you know, That’s okay, but you have a QR code on your cup now, and it’s got this list of rules tagged to it. And rule number three, it says, please leave the sticker, this is verbatim, with the QR code attached so that police can readily identify your beverage as a takeout beverage able to be consumed in the designated drinking area. And I just can’t feel like at that point you’re kind of in the fishbowl or the zoo. I don’t. I don’t know. It’s sitting weird with me.
SPEAKER 16 :
I think that you’re absolutely right. Initially, what this looks like is a move towards freedom. Of course, we recommend responsibly imbibing. But the fact that you now have police checking QR codes on cups, that seems pretty onerous and probably not what I would think would be the proper role of government. Tell me about homelessness in Arvada. Is that an issue at all?
SPEAKER 04 :
I have sat on meetings where businesses from Old Town, Nevada have come in and discussed that there’s a problem of homelessness. I don’t live in Old Town, Nevada, so that’s a little out of my purview, except for I know that there are businesses who have come in and testified that it’s affected their business. However, now you’ve got a situation where Like only the beverages that can be quote-unquote drank are from these particular restaurants, bars, what have you. So, yeah. And then the other one that kind of sits weird with me is a city manager has the authority at any time to modify the boundaries and include or exclude eligible businesses. So now you’ve got an employee – That, you know, for whatever reason, they can say we need to expand or contract the boundary without a hearing and or possibly exclude your restaurant or include your restaurant.
SPEAKER 16 :
This picking winners and losers is totally out of line. So I love the idea of moving towards freedom. This doesn’t sound like it whatsoever. So thanks for shedding light on that. What else should people be aware of?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, last week I mentioned to Brad that you had signed a letter along with a lot of other state entities here about the video live streaming. And I was really happy to see that this was getting pushed forward by the Colorado Freedom of Information Coalition, you, Natalie Menton, and a host of other folks here. that they’re trying to keep the video live stream pilot program going because they’re looking at suspending this at the state level. I have written to the state representatives, and I did get a word back from Chris Richardson, House District 56, and he agreed that I could mention this on the show. But he is in full support of keeping the video live streaming going of the committees, and he said he was going to put out a statement as such as well. so far 9900 people were able to view 19 legislative committee meetings and these might not sound like the most fun committee meetings to sit in on but i didn’t i didn’t have the option to watch the uh wildfire matters review committee meetings but i could listen to them but it was kind of disjointed because you could be listening to audio but they are presenting different powerpoints and what have you and you’re kind of missing the full context of what’s going on in the room But I did find that these were important because the Wildfire Matters Review Committee was voting on what five bills that they wanted to, I think it was five bills, to push towards the 2026 legislative season. When we look at the next legislative season, I think we have to really start paying attention to what’s going on in the interim because that’s where the genesis of a lot of these bills get created. And so thank you for signing that letter, Kim, and everybody who did.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, I signed it as the Kim Monson Show, and we also signed it for Colorado Union of Taxpayers. And that just put something on my radar, and it’s something when I was on city council. Lone Tree does not… broadcast, they don’t record, they don’t archive any audio or video of the city council meetings. And I’d actually made a motion two different times when I was on city council to get that done, and it died without a second. And that is something that I’m going to go to work on because I don’t have time to always go to the meetings. I haven’t And so we need to be able to have those tools. And I’m going to go to work on that. You have just inspired me to go to work on that again, Mike Rollick, because we need to be able to keep them accountable. So that’s a big deal as well. What’s the next thing? We’ve got probably time for one more issue. What’s the next thing people should be aware of?
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, sure. Well, real quick, Arvada did get rid of their – virtual participation on planning commission and city council meetings. And during the forum that we had, we asked and all six candidates said that they’d be in favor of bringing it back. There is a cost associated with this, and I looked into it. It looks about $14,000 a month for the Zoom contract because it’s a government Zoom contract. They have to have a lot of privacy that you and I wouldn’t have in our normal regular Zoom subscription. But I think it’s worth the price of the First Amendment easily. We need to enshrine the fact that people need to be able to participate and be able to speak with their government, you know, you’ve, I think are bad as 35 square miles and as traffic mounts, people just can’t always get to meetings, you know? Um, but it’s nice to have that option. So we’re hoping that comes back as well. Um, glow park real quick, the request for quote, dig a period, dig clothes. They have some, um, contenders in there, but we were not able to see who’s applying and the details of their application. But we did meet with Rep Tammy Story, and she was sympathetic to the situation. And she also had seen that the word attainable was kind of in place of the word affordable and had flagged that for discussion as well. And hopefully… Adrian Waller, who’s on your show, or somebody from the community, will be able to be on the October 30th committee meeting, the Capital Development Committee meeting. Again, we’re talking about live streaming, how important this is, because we developed our own PowerPoint to show all the… The cons of this this piece of land being used for the high density housing, as opposed to the to that research campus so and then the governance mansion parking lot on a half acre there they’re looking to do. Housing on a half acre plus 28 parking spots and only 20% would have to be affordable. And 80% AMI. And I took a look at the Denver Housing Stability Commission. 80% of AMI for two people in a household is $89,680. To me, the salaries are showing that people could probably afford their own homes and we wouldn’t have to subsidize. A four-person home, you know, would be $112,080. So the numbers are just getting really high when we’re talking about 80% AMI.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. Okay. This is amazing. Mike, I so appreciate it. And I love the fact that we’ve got you on weekly to talk about this. And so your final thoughts to leave with our listeners.
SPEAKER 04 :
Final thoughts is I guess the devil’s in the details. Every time you see something that might move the peg towards freedom, look to see if there’s another situation going on, like with this designated drinking area. It’s freedom-ish, and then all of a sudden you’ve got a QR code. Incidentally, I did look into it, and some of these new cameras that they’re putting up can also be used to read QR codes. So just throwing it out there.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. Mike Rolick, thank you so much. This is so important. And we always want to look at things as freedom versus force. If you hear the term, what designated drinking area, but QR code, the police can check it. That’s not freedom. And so thanks for keeping us in the loop on all of that, Mike Rolick.
SPEAKER 03 :
Thank you for having me. Have a great day.

And Daniel Turner, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s always great to be on with you, Kim. Thanks so much for having me.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, it’s good to have you as well. And let’s begin with something that you recently published at Power the Future regarding America’s rising energy prices are due to bad public policy. And Chris Wright, the Secretary of the Department of Energy, has comments regarding these consequences of this radical green agenda. They’re very connected. So walk us through this.
SPEAKER 09 :
They are, and the reason why is because in the last four years of the Biden administration… there was an enormous push for wind and solar projects. And that was all paid for with money from the Inflation Reduction Act and the Defense Authorization Act. And DOD money was poured into this, right? Everyone found money to subsidize and build wind and solar. But the wind and solar industry knows that their products are lousy. They know they don’t produce reliable electricity. They know they need government money for them to stay afloat. It’s very much similar to what we’re seeing with the health care arguments and this ongoing shutout in D.C. The Democrats are saying, you need to give us all the money for the Obamacare subsidies. And I scratch my head and say, why subsidies? I thought Obamacare was great. You mean it really stinks and the government has to pay people to have their insurance? So what we see in the energy space is the exact same situation, a lousy product that cannot survive on its own two feet and needs government subsidies. Well, President Trump took away the government subsidies. And as a result, there is no doubt prices are going to go up because if you have a market that is 40, 50 percent wind and solar and your money has dried up, now you have to charge customers what the product actually costs. And so people’s electric bills are going to go crazy and people are going to blame President Trump. But but we can’t be noble Keynesians forever. Right. We can’t be. Hey, look, this is a terrible program, but we’re going to pay you for all eternity. Because if we stop, people will realize how bad our policies are. So there is going to be pain. There’s no doubt about it. And I feel bad for people who are struggling to pay their electric bills. But we cannot ask government. to constantly backstop terrible policy and terrible products because our elected officials are a bunch of morons. And they did it in health care, and it’s an ongoing battle, and they tried to do it in energy. Luckily, they only had a four-year window and not the 12 of Obama-Biden. And those policies have been ripped up. And they also in the energy space, they didn’t do it through law. They did it through the White House. No one ever passed a law in D.C. that said we have more wind and solar. They just created cash. They printed more dollars and gave it to projects that they liked. So there’s going to be pain, but the pain is necessary to get back to baseline reality.
SPEAKER 16 :
But Daniel Turner, the people are already feeling it. Now, they don’t see it on their bill for their electricity right now. Well, they do. That’s going up. And you said it’s going to be rocky right now as we get this thing turned around. But the Inflation Reduction Act was actually an inflation creation act. And so people have already been paying for this with this government-induced inflation, which has reduced the buying power of people when they buy everything, their groceries and everything. So we have been paying for it. My dad always said that inflation is that silent thief. And so let’s rip the Band-Aid off here, rip this off here, and we’re going to have to buck up and go through this really difficult time. We’ve got to get back to reliable, efficient, affordable, and abundant power sources, make sure that we’ve got our baseload energy, protected. And so the choice is either do that or continue down this road that is not sustainable as we take back the words from the left on that.
SPEAKER 09 :
And there is historical precedent for this, and maybe you need to be of a certain age. I was certainly alive, though I wasn’t necessarily a rational adult. But when Reagan was elected after the Carter administration, people who bought houses back in those days, we’ll talk about how their rates were 17%, 18%. I believe inflation was running around 20%. It took Reagan almost three years to get it under control, so much so that by the midterms, people wondered if he was going to be a one-term president. And then obviously 1984 happened, and he overwhelmingly, in the second biggest landslide in history, overwhelmingly defeated Mondale because his policies did work, but they took time. We are eight months into undoing four years of bad policies. And I tell people very honestly and and I’m blunt that I love this president, but I am very much a realist we are so far in the ditch our car is so far in the ditch and that if at the end of the Trump years, all he manages to do is get us out of the ditch, I think that’s a win. We haven’t even talked about driving forward, changing the tires, right? We haven’t even continued on this road trip. We are just trying to get the car out of the ditch. And if President Trump can accomplish just that in four years, I think that would be remarkable. And even that seems to be an insurmountable achievement. challenge when you look at the debt, when you look at our terrible energy policy. Obviously, he’s made amazing strides on the border, but he’s having a lot of problems with deportation because of radical leftist groups that are attacking ICE. There are cultural problems he’s addressing. And I know you’ve been in this business for a while as well. When would you ever imagine a Republican president saying, what’s going on at the Smithsonian? Why are all these exhibits so anti-American? Why are they so vulgar? Let’s get rid of all of that. No Republican president would have touched the museum. No Republican president would have gone after Harvard or Yale and higher education and said, I’m done with this nonsense. You’re not teaching this crap. You’re not going to discriminate against smart people because they’re Asian. etc. No Republican president would have touched the sacred cows of academia arts. No Republican president would have gone after the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and said, all of the things you show are disgusting. How about we put on the sound of music and things people like? Not only that. You’re not making any money. These are things that President Trump has addressed in addition to energy. When I say we’re in a ditch, oh, God, that ditch. I mean, we are deep, deep, deep in a ditch. Maybe if President Trump can get us halfway out, that’s a win.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, I love the fact that you don’t pull any punches on any of this. And so I recently emceed the Grand Lake U.S. Constitution Week main event, and Jonathan Turley spoke, who is a regular on national media, and he’s a Georgetown professor. And you’re on Capitol Hill a lot. You testify for hearings. But he said something that really got my funny bone. He said, Washington, D.C., everybody’s exhausted. They can’t keep up with all the stuff that Donald Trump is doing. And the guy must not sleep because it is amazing what he has done since he’s been inaugurated.
SPEAKER 09 :
It really is. And he is using a flood the zone strategy where there are so many things happening simultaneously. He doesn’t allow the press to attack one, foment groundswell on one, the articles, the activist group. And that’s normally what presidents in the past have done. They focus on one little issue and everyone gangs up on that issue and the issue is never resolved. President Trump is addressing 30, 40, 50 simultaneously and the left, which is slow and disorganized and very deeply unhappy. they’re not able to rally around it. Now you’re seeing it in little areas, pockets, right? Portland, Chicago, et cetera. But on the D.C. level, no. Congress is running around in circles trying to catch up to him. And I think the shutdown is a wonderful example of that. It’s a wonderful example of government failure. I watch the TV and I watch Democrats say, like, we need this shutdown because we need to address health care costs. I’m waiting for the follow-up question that says… So you admit Obamacare failed, right? Well, why do we need to address? How are we still discussing health care? Nancy Pelosi walked down Independence Avenue with an enormous oversized gavel when she finally got the votes. It was a huge moment. There was a parade. No Republican voted for it. They got a number of Democrats who were on the on the fence. Bart Stupak, being the best example, lost his seat over it. Moderate Democrat. But they got it through. And here we are 15 years later and health care costs have more than tripled.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
And Democrats are still standing by this piece of legislation rather than just flat out repealing, which we tried to do until John McCain sabotaged us. So that’s a DC in a nutshell. We’re going to create a problem. We’re going to make it worse with legislation. We’re going to use your tax dollars to stop the backstop it. And we’re just going to continue this cycle until we’re bankrupt.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes, so we are in the ditch. There is no doubt about it. And this is our time, Daniel Turner. We can’t kick this can down the road to the next generation. The American idea has been something that we are going to pass on something good, liberty, to the next generation, which was our first founding. And, of course, our second founding was the Civil War. We are in the third founding of our country right now, Daniel Turner. And we’ve got to dig deep to figure out what we’re going to do. And so it’s exciting as I think about it. I say at the beginning of the show that we were made for this moment in history, and we were. So we’re going to continue the discussion with Daniel Turner. He is the founder of Power the Future, doing important work. A lot of great work on Capitol Hill. And he’s looked at all of these little towns that because of terrible policy, they’ve been dying. I think that I think actually with our cities and the situation they’re in, I think a lot of people like to move back to a lot of these little towns. So we’ll talk more about that. But did want to mention the Center for American Values, which is located in Pueblo on the beautiful Riverwalk. And the center is co-founded by Drew Dix, a Medal of Honor recipient, and Brad Padula, who is an Emmy Award winning documentary maker. And they wanted to… honor our Medal of Honor recipients, and push forth these foundational principles of honor, integrity, and patriotism through educational programs, helping educators on values presentations. So be sure and check out their website. That is AmericanValueCenter.org, AmericanValueCenter.org. And we’ll be back with a discussion with Daniel Turner, and all this happens because of our sponsors. And welcome back to the Kim Monson Show. Be sure and check out our website. That is Kim Monson, M-O-N-S-O-N dot com. Also check out the website for the U.S. MC Memorial Foundation. It’s a nonprofit that I feature regularly on the show because of the great work that they’re doing to honor and remember those that have given their lives, have been willing to give their lives for our liberty. And so check out that website. Support them at U.S. MC Memorial Foundation dot org. We are talking with the founder of Power the Future. He’s also the executive director. Daniel Turner, you founded Power of the Future, if I remember right, because you were looking at all of these little towns that were being basically shut down because of O’Biden, ultimately Harris policies regarding our naturally occurring hydrocarbons. And specifically, I think like the coal towns in West Virginia, yes? Yes.
SPEAKER 09 :
Exactly. And this goes back to the Obama years, because Obama really launched the war on coal for political reasons, of course. And it was always these small coal towns where 80, 90 percent of the people worked at the one coal plant. And they were the ones who were affected and they were plunged into poverty. And lots of things started to develop, like the opioid crisis. because it’s cheap and it packs a punch. And when you are depressed because you lost your job, sadly, that’s what a lot of times what people turn to. And so we began to see the pop-up of these abandoned coal towns in Appalachia, which is roughly where I live, in West Virginia, Southwest Pennsylvania, Eastern Tennessee, Eastern Ohio. And no one cared. Their elected officials didn’t care. Their governors didn’t care. Republicans didn’t care. No one cared. These were expendable people because life stinks. And when you try to say that this is wrong, of course, then the climate folks jumped on your back. We need to shut down coal because it’s we’re all going to die from climate change or the free market coke. world of the right, which I don’t like either, would jump down my back and say, this is the free market at work. This is what happens. If it’s cheaper to buy coal in China, why are we going to buy coal in West Virginia? And it made me realize that a lot of forces don’t care about the American people. They care about either profit or they care about corporations or they care about causes. But when your cause or your profit or whatever comes at the expense of society, I think we have a real problem. And a phrase I hear often, which I like is I don’t live in a marketplace, right? I live in society. I don’t live in the free market. I understand it. And I value and respect the free market, but I live in a society. And when government policies are destroying society, I don’t think that’s the free market at work. And so that’s why I had to get off the sidelines. I quit my job and started this organization because someone had to be the voice for these people and at least try to advocate on their behalf.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and we had here in Colorado, as I talk on a regular basis, I’m the president of this all-volunteer group called Colorado Union of Taxpayers, and we are working on a ratings report. And here in Colorado, they passed legislation which was a just transition action plan. And so it’s going into these towns that are reeling because of the closing down of our coal-fired – reliable plants, and going in and trying to make themselves feel better about the fact that they’re closing down these businesses and these great jobs. And it’s rather remarkable, Daniel Turner.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah. And coal is so essential to our economy. A third of our electric grid, a little bit more, still runs on coal. So if we said we’re going to get rid of coal now, that’s really bad, right? That’s just a bad policy decision. This is what Biden did. He shut down over 100 coal plants nationwide while he was president. There was no referendum. No one was ever asked if they want to see this happen. He used new EPA rules willy-nilly, and coal plants couldn’t comply, and so as a result, they shut down. Well, when you shut down 100 coal plants nationwide, look at what happened to our overall electric prices. Why? Because the supply is dwindling and the demand is steady. And laws of economics dictate the only thing that can happen is prices go up. Dump AI onto that and data centers that we’re building left and right, of course, as electricity prices went up 30, 40 percent. I don’t I eschew this notion. People say often, oh, well, you’re like the candle maker when the light bulb was invented. There was never a law that said you have to get rid of your candles. People adopted the light bulb. Good point. But when you look at something like EVs where they say, hey, we’re going to tax your car extra, gas tax, all these other taxes, but if you buy an EV, we’re going to give you $7,500. Well, of course people are going to buy EVs. I use an example often, which is in Scandinavia. Where you hear these fake statistics, 80% of all cars purchased this year have been electric vehicles, and people say that’s the future at work. Well, the combustion engine car has a 25% value-added tax rate. And the EV gives you a $10,000 rebate. If you’re a family of two or four or a single mom or anyone, which car are you going to buy? If the government taxes you 25% for a combustion engine or gives you $10,000 to buy an EV, that’s not the free market at work. That’s not candlesticks over light bulbs. That’s government picking winners and losers. And we’ve done that to our electric grid. And how has the result been? It’s been disastrous. So we need to protect coal and go back to coal. And we haven’t even talked about cement, steel, rubber, plastic, furniture, milling. We can’t do anything in this country without coal. That’s just the ignorance of our elected officials who think it’s an antiquated source of power.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, the headlines are that Trump is going to support coal. We’ve got about three minutes left. What’s that look like, Daniel Turner?
SPEAKER 09 :
We have we have centuries of coal reserves and President Trump is trying to protect coal that is still in the works and get it back online. The problem is a lot of decisions are made at the state and local level. So if you have a great state like Colorado and you have a leftist governor who says we’re going to close down our coal plants, Colorado is going to suffer as is New York, as are our blue states, because where are you going to get the power from? We haven’t built – you’ve built some wind, I’m sure, some solar, but if this coal plant produces 800 megawatts of electricity – that’s 150,000 acres of wind turbines that only work 15% of the time. So you don’t get one for the other. It’s not an even swap. And that’s what our governors are doing. We’re going to shut down this coal plant. And then in the future, sometime we’re going to build wind and solar, but they never get built. They’re too expensive. And now there’s no federal dollars backstopping it. So what we’ve done is we’ve just cut what works and made the people suffer.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. Are you encouraged that we’re going to get this turned around?
SPEAKER 09 :
I am. I am. You know, like I said, it took Reagan a couple of years. We are in month nine. I want to give the guy – if we come back in September of next year when we’re close to the midterms – I think we’ll be in a much different place. But I think the American people are going to stand by him and give him the time necessary. Again, Biden had four unstopped years. Trump’s had nine, 10 months. Let’s let him at least try to catch up.
SPEAKER 16 :
I love that. And how can people get more information about you, Daniel Turner?
SPEAKER 09 :
You can find us at Power of the Future dot com. Or if you’re listening and you got a question or you think I’m wrong or you have anything, shoot me an email. Daniel at Power of the Future dot com. I respond to every email I get. So shoot me an email and I’d love to talk to you.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, Daniel Turner, you’re doing such amazing work. And one other question. Are you you’ve been on Capitol Hill a bunch to testify. Do you have any does it look like you’re going to be on Capitol Hill soon or not?
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m driving there in about 30 minutes. I’m about a two-hour drive from D.C. from where I live in rural Virginia, and I’ll be there in a little bit.
SPEAKER 16 :
You’re doing amazing work, Daniel Turner, and I so greatly appreciate that. So keep it up, and together we are going to reclaim our state and our country, and shedding light on this is the first step. So Power of the Future, be sure and check that out. Daniel Turner, have a great day.
SPEAKER 09 :
You’re a great voice for Colorado, Kim. Thank you.
SPEAKER 16 :
And our quote for the end of the show is Thomas Jefferson. He says, when you abandon freedom to achieve security, you lose both and deserve neither. So today, be grateful, read great books, think good thoughts, listen to beautiful music, communicate and listen well, live honestly and authentically, strive for high ideals, and like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. My friends, you are not alone. God bless you. God bless America. Stay tuned for our number two.
SPEAKER 06 :
Through the mountains climbing, twisting, turning further from my home. Young like a new moon rising fierce. Through the rain enlightening, wandering out into this great home. And I don’t want no one to cry. But tell them if I don’t survive.

SPEAKER 16 :
The socialization of transportation, education, energy, housing, and water, what it means is that government controls it through rules and regulations.
Welcome to our number two of the Kim Monson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You’re each treasured. And a great first hour. If you missed that, you can hear that today, 1 to 2 p.m. This hour will be rebroadcast 10 to 11 at night. And then you can find all the shows at the website, as well as you can go to Spotify, iTunes, the streaming services, and listen to that. We are an independent voice on an independent station. We search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, You should not have to force people to do it. And Mike Rawlings, so interesting in the first hour, he talked about Arvada is an old town is possibly changing an ordinance where you could walk out, you know, take a beverage out of a restaurant and walk around on the streets, which you can do that down in Fredericksburg, Texas. The first time I saw that, I thought, this is so weird. Interesting. But there’s a caveat. You have to purchase in Arvada. You would have to purchase the beverage at certain restaurants. That’s government picking winners and losers. There would be police enforcement with a QR code. Crazy. So ideally, things that may look like freedom and they’re not, we need to shed light on that and we need to continue to work towards freedom. And what is liberty? Well, it is the responsible exercise of freedom. We have these discussions because of our sponsors and want to say thank you to Laramie Energy. We talked with Bob Boswell yesterday. He’s the CEO about this reliable, efficient, affordable, and abundant power has really been under attack. So what’s under attack is us being able to power our lives, fuel our hopes and dreams, and change our own personal climate. That is what is under attack. And Trump is trying to get this turned around, as we talked with Daniel Turner yesterday. in the first hour. So again, thank you to Laramie Energy for their goal sponsorship of the show. Our word of the day is unalienable and it is spelled U-N. Excuse me, inalienable. No, no, no. I’m back to unalienable. I had both of these on my radar because I was trying to determine there. Somebody said there’s a real difference between the two. So I’m going to continue to delve into that. So unalienable, which is in the Declaration of Independence, is spelled U-N-A-L-I-E-N-A-B-L-E. It’s an adjective not to be separated, given away or taken away. So that is our inalienable rights. And among these are life, liberty and pursuit of happiness that are given to us by our creator. So that is our word of the day. So I went to Thomas Jefferson for our quote of the day. He was born in 1743, died in 1826 on July 4th. 50 years to the day after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. And he was the key author of the Declaration. And he and John Adams died on the same day. They were adversaries. Then they became friends. And this is what Thomas Jefferson said. When once a republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils, but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles, every other correction is either useless or a new evil. And we are in a remarkable time in America right now. I do believe that we are in the… The third founding of our country. And it’s an exciting time. It’s a scary time. It’s a scary world out there. But some of these headlines, it’s pretty remarkable that Hamas and Israel are talking, at least talking about peace. And so they’re entering their third day of peace talks. This is from Eyewitness ABC 7 News. And they’re at an Egyptian resort. And this is yesterday was the two year anniversary of the attack upon Israelis by Hamas. So this is a great sign that at least that they’re getting to be talking about talking about peace. Next thing regarding this shutdown. And I really hope that Speaker Mike Johnson and the Republicans stay strong on this. We mentioned this in the first hour. This is from Breitbart and how Speaker Mike Johnson short shared a chart showcasing in black and white what Democrats are demanding in order to reopen the government. And I love the fact that Republicans are shedding light on, first of all, Funding health care for people that have come here illegally while everyday Americans are facing higher and higher health care costs just doesn’t make sense. So good for Trump and the Republicans for getting that turned around. And people want to come here for the American dream, for freedom. We want to figure out ways and we have ways for people to come here legally. But people that want to come here for free stuff or that want to steal stuff from such as intellectual property or that want to hurt us, we don’t need to be bringing them in and we don’t need to be subsidizing them. I also like the fact that. Bringing back the dignity of work. People that are able to work should not be receiving a handout because it takes away the dignity of everyday individuals. And so I hope that Speaker Mike Johnson and the Republicans stay strong on this. And so that’s a very important as well. And we have all these important discussions because we have great sponsors. And I wanted to mention a couple of sponsors. One is Little Richie’s. And I love Italian food. And they have one of the best calzones that I’ve ever had. And I used to go back to New York on a regular basis. So if you are craving that real New York-style pizza and pasta, Little Richie’s and Parker and Golden has you covered. authentic New York flavor with Colorado roots from daily specials and weekday lunch deals to a happy hour worth planning around. They are your neighborhood favorite and they’re always serving up something worth stopping for. So be sure and check out Little Richie’s. One other thing, I guess the other headline, And this is just crazy to me what has happened. This is from Fox News regarding the Des Moines superintendent. Department of Homeland Security reveals an extensive criminal history. A former Des Moines superintendent who was arrested and who was in the U.S. illegally. And it says Ian Roberts resigned from Des Moines Public Schools District recently following his arrest by immigration authorities. He was taken into custody after a short car chase and is charged with being an illegal alien in possession of firearms. And it says that he had multiple weapons charges and drug trafficking charges, and he should never have worked around children. And so when ICE officers arrested him, he was in possession of this illegal handgun, a hunting knife, and nearly $3,000 in cash. We wonder why our kids cannot read and write and do arithmetic. Well, it’s because of this. But this goes back to school board elections. It was the school board elections. members that hired, they hired the superintendent. And there’s a lot of school board elections this November. And so know who you’re voting for. Give them a call. We’re going to try to give you some references on the voter’s guide, which will be coming out this Sunday in the newsletter. And also there’s a lot of city council and mayor races as well. And so we’re going to give you some tips on how to check all of that out. But we’ve got to reclaim our education system for our kids. The fact that we’re paying this guy probably pretty big bucks here in Iowa, and kids are not being able to read and write and do arithmetic, we have got to get this all turned around. And so these discussions happen because of our sponsors. And the Roger Magnet State Farm Insurance team, they carry my insurance. And that plays out in the urban area with… what we pay for our electricity, our gas, our food. Very important. Trent Luce, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 10 :
Thanks, Kim. I was down tooling around your old stomping grounds trying to get some dirt on you from your childhood. I didn’t succeed.
SPEAKER 16 :
So you were in Goodland, Kansas?
SPEAKER 10 :
Actually, I was in Thomas County. I didn’t make it to Sherman County. But I was in Colby yesterday, went to see some friends, and it was absolutely fantastic. What I did yesterday, I probably should do more. Well, it was two days, kind of two days and a half, but I had four families that I sat at the kitchen table, we had a meal, we had a discussion, and we need to get back to the kitchen table more.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. I totally agree. Why were you in Thomas County, which is the county right next to where I grew up? And they were our arch rivals when we played them in any of the sports. So why were you at Colby, Kansas?
SPEAKER 10 :
I needed to go see Lonnie and Lori Wilson.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 16 :
And we’re going to have Virginia Maka on next week. And she had mentioned something about there’s some kind of a tax thing that the state of Kansas is dangling out in front of all these different counties. And she said there was something regarding Thomas County. So I thought maybe that’s why you were there. But I’m going to talk with her about that next week.
SPEAKER 10 :
No, but… Funny you mention that, and this is going to disrupt your whole plan. There was a presentation in Wichita last Thursday morning, and the presentation was put on. It was a seminar, a convention really targeting to county commissioners, and county commissioners were invited to the Kansas Economic Outlook Conference. Keynote speaker, first speaker out of the gate was Mark Esposito. He is promoted to be a something, professor adjunct or something at Harvard University. I have all of his slides. His third slide was his employment with the World Economic Forum and showed a picture of Klaus Schwab and was talking about how important the Great Reset was and that Kansas was in the perfect position to drive the ship in the Great Reset because it had such a tremendous infrastructure of water, resources, and already had in place pro-industrial proteins.
SPEAKER 16 :
What? What’s a pro-industrial protein?
SPEAKER 10 :
Protein other than coming from an animal. And I have found there are six, one of which is in Hutchinson, Kansas, that’s been in business for 50 years making alternative proteins to animal derivatives, whether that be milk, meat, or eggs. So I reached out. I actually did a show with the county commissioner, Becky Reimer, who was in attendance, and she’s the one that got a hold of me and said, Trent, look at these slides. And so then I reached out to Mark Esposito himself, And I said, I’ve just been presented the slides that you gave in Kansas. And I’d like to have you on the air to talk about your thoughts along these lines. And I shared that with a friend of mine from Kansas, his response. And it was. OK, Kim, I can’t say on the air what the response was.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER 10 :
But it was pretty much Trent. No, thank you. And I’m just too busy. And I guarantee you. You should call. You should send him an email and see if he would join you. Because he point blank told these people that Kansas is in a great spot to be a part of the digital revolution, replacing man with computers. But more troubling than anything is the people I talked to in attendance were talking to other people who were there. And they thought, oh, man, it’s just wonderful that we in Kansas are in such a great position to be global leaders. I’m like, do you know what you’re talking about being a global leader of? We just hear this information. We have somebody sugarcoat it and we don’t discern. First of all, they didn’t even know who Klaus Schwab was. And I feel like you and I. just are so repetitive in talking about this and what it is that he’s, the things that he has said, you know, he called people who are, are, uh, over the age of 60 useless, useless eaters that we should eliminate them. That’s what he talked about our senior. No, no. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Right. But Esposito in his fourth slide is willing to tell this group of people in Kansas that that they are in a perfect position to lead the great reset for the entire world. And they think, oh, great, we can be a leader. Well, not all of them, but far too many. So it’s time to spend some more time focusing on Kansas. That’s the moral of the story, because I don’t know why so many of my algorithms since Thursday have centered around Kansas. But what I do know is Mark Esposito is not willingly going to come on my show and have a discussion about this.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, well, I’ll go to work on that. I just did a quick search.
SPEAKER 10 :
I got his email.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
And I then went to the organizer of this event, who is on staff at Wichita State, and I now have learned that she’s been a problem in many areas of Kansas in terms of our resource utilization and continuing to promote freedom as you and I stem it back to the Constitution. So she’s the one who organized the event. I sent her an email asking who, how, and why Mark Esposito was the keynote speaker to this event. She’s yet to tell me to do anything with bodily parts.
SPEAKER 16 :
Hmm. Hmm. Okay. Well, we will go to work on that. I’ve got that. Yeah, it’s as you look at this, Mark Esposito, it’s all over there regarding World Economic Forum, the whole thing. When I’ve talked with Virginia, who, Virginia Maka, who’s the founder of Stand for the Land Kansas, we’ve been talking about about so many different things. She said that Kansas is real. I’ve always thought that Colorado was at the tip of the spear of all the crazy stuff that’s going on. She said, Kim, actually, Kansas is two years ahead of you. You’ve got opportunity here. So we’ll continue that discussion. Next thing, as we text back and forth about what we’re possibly going to talk about, then we get derailed. But you mentioned Perkins County, Nebraska. What’s going on with Perkins County, Nebraska?
SPEAKER 10 :
A lot, actually, because this was not why I was in Perkins County this week. But you know that the Perkins County Canal is a big deal where we have this water compact of 1923 between Nebraska and Colorado as it involves flow of water from Colorado into Nebraska. We’ve had our state legislators authorize the rebirth of the idea of the Perkins Canal to have a water storage facility. So that’s in play in Perkins County. And Grant, Nebraska, is the place where we’re talking about here, straight south of Ogallala. But I went there because on Monday evening there was a public hearing with the county commissioners. And the county commissioners were called to a second public hearing and a potential vote on a proposed solar development center in Perkins County, which would convert, you’re going to love this, 1,000 acres of land under center pivot producing food and agriculture for who knows how long. and they want to put up 1,000 acres of solar panels. Again, August 19th, Brooke Rollins saying no more land will go under solar panels, and yet proposals continue to come left and right.
SPEAKER 16 :
The reason I want to bring it up… A quick question on that, Trent, is because there’s the stuff that can happen at the federal level, but then what I’ve seen is the radical activist agenda, when they can’t get it done at the federal level, they circumvent it and will go to the state or the county or the local level. So it seems to me like that kind of unbeknownst to, say, Brooke Rollins, this is happening at the local level, and it goes back to something that you have… mentioned on a regular basis, and that is the tax credits, these federal tax credits, these tax incentives. Those things have to go away, and I think we can get this maybe turned around at the local level. What do you think?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, it’s 100% about tax credits. That’s the reason they do it. But that’s what Brooke Rollins said, that no more tax credits would go to removing farmland from food production to go into solar panels. And yet it continues to happen. The federal government can’t permit these things at the local level. That has to be permitted at the county level. And we’ve had federalization attempts like the one ugly bill, the big ugly bill, wanted to remove local control in so many areas. But that failed because 17 governors said, no, you’re not going to take away our local control. But it’s 100% driven by tax credits that come from the federal government, and that’s what Brooke Rollins said, and that is that we’re going to stop providing tax incentives for people to take farmland and take it out of production and put in solar panels. And yet it happens every day.
SPEAKER 16 :
We’ve got to keep this pressure on them, and for sure we’ve got to. So 1,000 acres of, again, food production. Let’s go to break, Trent. No, go ahead.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, we’ll go to break. No, no. Well, I just wanted to talk about Perkins County because at the end of the day, It was a small victory. The Perkins County Commission voted to not rule on this, to gather the information and new information that I presented to them that they had no idea about. And the sheriff, the Perkins County Sheriff, presented information that was absolutely fantastic. And so the Perkins County Commission said… We obviously need more information about this. We’re not going to vote tonight, and we’re going to have some more meetings. So it was a county commission working as it should. That’s the reason I wanted to talk about its success story.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, I like that. And I was thinking these county commissioner positions are so important, but I want to hear what the sheriff had to do with all this. So when we come back, we’ll talk with Trent Luce about that because that is absolutely fascinating. These discussions happen because of our sponsors. And as we know, the Second Amendment is in our Bill of Rights to protect all of the other rights that we have.

So go to usmcmemorialfoundation.org, and you can make a contribution there. Talking with Trent Luce, sixth-generation farmer and rancher from Nebraska, we’re talking about Perkins County, Nebraska. There is a proposal for a 1,000-acre ranch. industrial solar project, which would take farmland out of production, which means that’s taking food production offline, which ultimately that will create higher costs at the grocery store for us in the urban area. And also, ultimately, I think food shortages are The county commissioners apparently voted to not make a decision yet to get more information. But you mentioned the sheriff made a presentation. I’m intrigued by that. What happened?
SPEAKER 10 :
Just to be clear, they did not vote at all. They simply decided not to vote to get more information on the project. Thank you for the clarification. So there was no vote. Okay. So the sheriff… actually started his presentation, and by the way, for public comment, you’re talking about three to four minutes. I’m told I talked six. I apologize about that. But nobody cut me off, so I just was on the flow. He started by saying, as you know, and he’s been a deputy in this county, Perkins County, for I believe, Scott told me, eight years. And then within the last six months, the sheriff said, This is an interesting story in itself. He stepped down as acting sheriff and became the clerk.
SPEAKER 16 :
Interesting.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. Which handles elections.
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s interesting. Yeah, that’s exactly why he did it for the cut to the chase, because he’s very concerned about what’s happening with our elections. So that’s an ongoing story from Perkins County. But, Scott, the acting chair… And where is Perkins County?
SPEAKER 16 :
Tell me where that is in Nebraska, exactly.
SPEAKER 10 :
Middle, west, east? Oh, no. No, it straights out to Rovalala. I believe the western edge of Perkins County borders Colorado. Oh, okay. I don’t believe there’s a county between Perkins and Colorado there, like Sedgwick and that area.
SPEAKER 08 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
So… Yeah, there can’t be. It’s got to be Perkins County. Well, obviously it does, because that’s why the Perkins County Canal is the first county out of Colorado from the South Platte. Got it. Okay. Makes sense. So the sheriff starts by saying, as you all know, because he’s addressing the county commissioners, I came here from California, and I had to leave California first. For every reason that you’re talking about and being told you need to do what you’re trying to do with energy here in Nebraska. And he said, and then he walked through examples of what his electric bill, what the environment and the decommissioning of this nonsense of wind turbines and solar panels is. has been about in California. And so he used his California experience to explain why this was a bad idea in Perkins County. But for the sheriff and elected official to actually take a public statement in a public meeting, I believe is the first of its kind in my experiences. It was fantastic.
SPEAKER 16 :
Wow. Boy, there is these little successes that we are having, which is very exciting. So let’s move over to Wyoming. And Wendy Volk, we’ve had her on with you and I. I’ve had her on the show. She’s just this great person. voice. She’s very reasoned. She’s done the research regarding a 56,000 acre wind industrial wind project and that is because of their voices, their research that that was denied by the county commissioners. Again, these county commissioners are so important. I’ve not connected with a colleague that she had mentioned that you and I should talk with, but you had her on the show regarding, I think, a 46,000-acre wind project. Again, this is taking ranch land. out of production. And so talk a little bit about this particular guest.
SPEAKER 10 :
Ann Ludwig, who’s from Albany County, and it’s a county that’s important. It can get confusing if you don’t understand Wyoming. This is where Laramie is located. Cheyenne is in Laramie County. Albany County is where Laramie, Wyoming is located. Well, there has already been approved. This project has already been approved and And it lays in that pristine area. You have two ways to get to Colorado from Laramie. You can take Interstate 80 over to Cheyenne and come down on 25. Or you can take 287, the scenic byway, so to speak. And that is… Yeah, and that is exactly where this project has been permitted to be constructed. But now Anne is doing a tremendous job generating the 80, I believe she told me 84, 89, 89 different historical sites. artifacts, products of American Indians, artifacts and remnants of them that is in this area that should never be disturbed with wind turbines. And so it’s kind of like the horse is out of the barn, but we’re trying to take a rope out there and capture the horse to get it back to the barn. But in the process of this discussion between these two champions for the future of our country, I learned that there are – I think she said 23 total wind projects planned for Wyoming of this nature.
SPEAKER 16 :
And so we’ve got to get rid of the tax credits, the tax subsidies. That project over in Laramie County, which is Cheyenne, it is a little confusing, was $1.1 billion. And another thing, and we mentioned on the show, but one of our listeners, I think it was Rosie, had suggested that we take a look at some of the money And Repsol, the company, the Spanish company that has the project, Wendy Volk’s been talking about, $1.1 billion, a little under 7% of Repsol is owned by BlackRock, which connect those dots. Going back, World Economic Forum, all that stuff, Trent Luce.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, for those that may not know, Larry Fink, the CEO of BlackRock, has now also replaced Klaus Schwab as the chairman of the World Economic Forum. So the tie is not conspiratorial. It’s just right there in front of you blatantly. But I want to speak to that because that was another thing that the presenter who wanted to build this solar project in Perkins County, Nebraska, talked about and tried to brag about. We are going to build a $350 million facility in your county. We all know that not one dime of that is going to be spent on products that’s going to benefit Perkins County. You can build a $35 trillion facility in Perkins County, and if you buy all of the products in Chicago and haul them in, it doesn’t do anything to benefit the economy of Perkins County. And the same thing extends to that project with Repsol in Laramie County. Now, their odds are good they’ll have some small percentage, but the majority of that revenue is going to go outside of the county.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and so that’s another thing. I’ve been thinking about the general welfare clause in the Constitution. And general welfare does not mean welfare giving money to people, taking from one person to give to another. It means something that benefits the complete country, the general welfare. So I’m now thinking about this transmission line over in Elbert County and El Paso County. That transmission line that Excel is already threatening imminent domain to basically take people’s land. Granted, they’re supposed to receive some just compensation, but that can get tricky. But that does not benefit anybody in Elbert County whatsoever. That’s no general welfare for them whatsoever. This is an important point that we need to realize is these communities that are being decimated and our food and our fuel sources that are being decimated because of this agenda does nothing for the general welfare. Now, they may say that they’re helping the general welfare or they opine of the urban areas, but this doesn’t cut the muster for eminent domain. It just doesn’t, Trent Luce.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, 100%. That’s the moral of the story. And we need knowledgeable people in every county, including the commissioners, to look into these projects because these guys, I witnessed them say things. For example, here’s another example. There’s going to be a battery storage. You can’t build a solar unit without a battery storage. Massive lithium batteries have to be included in order to make them even function, or they just are intermittent to the point where they’re nonexistent. There was no mention of the lithium batteries or the danger that they posed to the community and to the first responders in any of their petitions. And so I brought it to their attention because I was also in Pierce County this past weekend, Pierce County, Nebraska, where they have already permitted a solar project. And a neighbor told me about the 11 battery storage units that they plan to bring in. These things are in imminent danger because of the fire that they not only may cause, they will cause at some point in time. And the people of the county had no idea that these lithium batteries were part of the project. You have to get all of the information, and unless you know the right questions to ask, I’m telling you, they will present a selective betrayal of the truth.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, that is for sure.
SPEAKER 10 :
Kim, the guy actually said, he stood up in front of this crowd, because I brought up the tax credits, he stood up in front of this crowd, and he said, this is a guy presenting the case, he said, I assure you there are no subsidies going to build this wind solar project.
SPEAKER 08 :
Oh, man.
SPEAKER 10 :
And I said, you are getting a tax credit or you cannot afford to do this. He said, we may get tax credits, but there are no subsidies. Well, that unleashed a whole new can of worms for old Trent, let me tell you. And he just slithered down in his chair and said, well, I can’t control what the company does on the tax credits. But they had no idea the difference between the two. And a subsidy is half as bad as a tax credit because a tax credit is a 100% writing off of that tax bill that whoever that company is with the IRS. And by the way, this happens to be a British Petroleum company doing this project, which again, we’re giving tax credits to somebody that’s not even based in the United States.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, and so I want to share this text message from Richard. He said, every time you talk about Repsol, he says, I want to send you a text message. Please start referring to Repsol as a Spanish national oil company because that is who they are. And whether it’s in England, France, Italy, Spain, they all have their own national oil companies. In Italy, it’s Repsol. So they know there’s global pushback against oil. So ExxonMobil, Shell, and all the big oil producers and refiners want to get in on the green energy boondoggle to help burnish their reputations. I find that very interesting.
SPEAKER 1 :
100%.
SPEAKER 10 :
And this project is British Petroleum. Same exact thing as what Richard just described.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. Well, with that, we’re going to go to break. These are important discussions. And if you’ve been injured, you’ll make sure that you want to reach out to John Bozen and Bozen Law.

SPEAKER 16 :
Welcome back to the Kim Monson Show. Check out our website and also check out the website for the Center for American Values, which is located in Pueblo. They do have an On Values event on the 20th that will be by Norma Donlon. She is the wife of Roger Donlon, who’s Medal of Honor recipient today. from actions he took in the Vietnam War. And so it should be so interesting. The Center’s nonpartisan, nonpolitical, but focused on these foundational principles of honor, integrity, and patriotism. So you can see all the work they do by going to their website, which is AmericanValuesCenter.org. Okay, Trent, before we get into possibly the next discussion, we may not with this. This came in from Susan. She said those lithium battery storage facilities are extremely dangerous and bad for the environment. She said that she knows that there’s a community in Texas that have been fighting these off successfully. So question, how much acreage is taken for these battery storage facilities? facilities. And also, you mentioned lithium batteries. Whenever you fly, one of the questions that they say is they’re concerned about you having lithium batteries, I think, in your luggage. So address those two things.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, the whole project encompasses 1,000 acres. So I don’t know how much of that is the lithium battery storage because, again, that was not included in the proposal they put forth. Once questioned, they said that they’re, well, we’re required to have lithium batteries because we need to have a constant flow of electricity. Well, okay, but if you’re asking for a permit, that needs to be part of this permitting package. It was not included in anything I was presented.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and to that point, this Excel project in Albert County, the permit request that they had requested was not even complete. There’s a real arrogance by these different companies and organizations that are… really doing this huge land grab. And the county commissioners, that is the place that they have to take a stand. And I know that Obama had had a program where they were trying to get radical activist Democrats elected as county commissioners in rural America. They had an actual plan for that. And so that’s why those races are super important.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, 100%. We’ve not given enough credit time or emphasis. How many times do people run for either school board or county commission unopposed? I’m guessing more than not. And everybody focuses on what the IRS is doing or focus on what Trump is doing, focus on what the tax laws are going to be. And yet the school board and the county commission determine more of what your tax base and what your profitability and sustainability in a community is going to amount to, and they don’t get enough attention.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and these are big elections right now. We have a number of school board races that will be on this November ballot, as well as a number of local governments. So that would be county city councilmen, mayors, all that. So that’s really important. Let’s take a few minutes. You recently did a show regarding transgenderism. in rural America? I think a lot of people think that, oh, if I can just get out of these cities and these school districts and get to a small community, we’ll be safe from some of these agendas. Obviously, that’s not true over here on the energy sector. But what are you seeing in our little towns, our little school districts in rural America?
SPEAKER 10 :
This was a direct result of a school board. I don’t know if it was a conventional school board meeting, not a school board meeting, a meeting for school board members to attend, like a workshop, school board workshop for school board members to attend. Bryson Miller from Brush, Colorado, did join the meeting, went to the meeting. I believe he said it was a nine-hour day. And Bryson is a school board member of the Brush public school system. In that meeting, one of their presenters, which basically encompassed a large portion of the day and certainly most of the discussion, there was examples of 12-year-old girls who had been groomed by teachers invited to after-school art, and not a lot different to what you’ve already presented that’s happened in other parts of the Front Range of Colorado. And The parents were not in the loop as these teachers were coercing 12-year-old girls into beginning to take hormone blockers and do things to begin this transgender modification. And Bryson got a hold of me because he said what you just said. There are so many people that believe this is only happening in the most urban areas and it’s not affecting us. And this particular situation was in Wellington, Colorado. And his point was that it’s happening in every town all across this country, not just Colorado. It’s happening in my state. It’s happening in everybody’s state. We’re not looking at it because we think it’s, number one, it’s so ugly. We don’t want to face the fact that somebody is actually doing this, abusing these kids without parental consent. But it was a fascinating discussion and, quite frankly, has generated more ongoing discussions than any program I’ve done in quite some time.
SPEAKER 16 :
Interesting. So that story is the story of Erin Lee and her family. And you can get the whole story by going to artclubmovie.com, artclubmovie.com. So it’s a very big deal. Yesterday, I think the Supreme Court heard a Again, Colorado, and this was brought to my attention by a therapist. It’s a freedom of speech issue. There was a law that was passed in Colorado that says that therapists can only basically affirm if a family brings their child and they’re having some gender dysphoria. The therapist can only affirm the child to continue speaking. the transitioning. And a therapist, I think it’s Kaylee Childs, is challenging that. I think it was heard yesterday at the Supreme Court. Erin Lee and her… Family, their particular court case, they are hoping that the Supreme Court will take their case as well as they’re suing the Poudre School District. And I think that decision is going to be made on Monday. And Erin Lee is going to be on the show on Monday. Hopefully she may be a little busy. We’re going to reconfirm that with her. But actually, we broke that story on the Kim Monson show, Trent Luce. Kane, who has founded Task Force Freedom in northern Colorado, has become very concerned about this whole transgender agenda. And he called, or I guess he texted me, and he said, Kim, there is a family up here. There’s a mom and dad and their family that’s gone through this. Would you… I just want you to know about that. I said, do you think she would come on the show to talk about it? And so she came on the show and we broke that whole story here. And she and her family, her husband, they are true patriots. They were not really that politically involved. And she has taken this issue and really working to try to help families. She’ll go down in history, I think, she and her husband and John. So, yeah, it’s pretty important.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I just want to, as a moral of that story, you know, we talked about Wendy earlier. We talked about Ann. Here we talk about Kane. Sorry, Kane. We talk about the mother, Erin Lee. It just takes one person to start the ball rolling, and look what can happen. We all need to strive to be that one person in our community to get the ball rolling and no longer sweep things under the rug that need public scrutiny, because with public scrutiny and sunlight, we provide disinfectant.
SPEAKER 16 :
Absolutely. And that goes back to one of the things that Mike Rolick had mentioned in our number one about access to have video transparency of the hearings down at the Colorado Capitol. And we need to demand that at the local and the county level as well. Trent Luce, we have one minute left. Your final thought. We’re in exciting times because one person is making a difference on many of these different issues. Your final thought.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, if anybody tells me that they’re bored in today’s world, I’m telling them that they’re just not active enough because there’s so many things happening that you should not be bored. You should be a champion and be a part of the solution. I challenge you to get that done sometime yet this week.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, get it done sometime this week. I totally agree.
SPEAKER 10 :
Take care. It’s your initiative. Be a champion this week for a cause.
SPEAKER 16 :
Do not procrastinate. And you and I continue to work to shed light on all these important issues. Trent Luce, have a great week. We’ll talk next week.
SPEAKER 10 :
Thank you, Kim.
SPEAKER 16 :
And our quote for the end of the show is Thomas Jefferson, who said this, when you abandon freedom to achieve security, you lose both and deserve neither.
