Enforced can be obviously a weapon or policy, unpredictable in excess of taxation, fear, coercion, government-induced inflation, the World Economic Forum agenda, the globalist elites agenda, the United Nations pushing all that out, the Colorado State Legislature, this Colorado governor. Then land use codes and zoning regulations and forced fees and taxes and conservative easements and national monument designations and And we must roll those things back. And I think that we’re going to see that happen. My friends here in Colorado, we are at the tip of the spear of all of this. I think we’re the petri dish for all the stuff that they try. And that is why sometimes it seems daunting. But what it also means is that we have an opportunity to be in this ideological battle of ideas. We certainly are in our battle of Normandy today. taking the the beaches here and we are at the tip of the spear on that so get your brain around these issues engage in this battle we are here to help and we are certainly an independent voice on an independent station we focus again on these issues we’ll talk about the people pushing the issues but we’re really working hard to stay out of all of the personality stuff And remember, if something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. I’m going to be down there this Thursday emceeing a great event on their On Values presentation. and it will be Dr. Walt Larimore, who we interviewed for our America’s Veterans Stories, and it’s regarding his father, Phil Larimore, who was a World War II hero. He’ll be talking about his father, and it’s a remarkable story. And the book that he’s written is At First Light, and Colonel Bill Rutledge, who’s a frequent guest on the show and 96 years young, had reached out and said, Kim, you need to get this guy on America’s Veterans Stories. This is one of the best books I’ve ever read regarding World War II. So you will have a unique opportunity. Let them know that you’re coming so that they have plenty of chairs for that. And so I’ll share this quote from their great little Medal of Honor quote book from Gary G. Wetzel in just a moment, but I wanted to give you his citation. These are actions that he took in 1968. He was born in 1947, so he was just 21 years old, probably. And he said this. This is Specialist Fourth Class Wetzel, 173rd Assault Helicopter Company, distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. Specialist 4th Class Wetzel was serving as a door gunner aboard a helicopter, which was part of an insertion force trapped in a landing zone by intense and deadly hostile fire. Specialist 4th Class Wetzel was going to the aid of his aircraft commander when he was blown into a rice paddy and critically wounded by two enemy rockets that exploded just inches from his location. Although bleeding profusely due to the loss of his left arm and severe wounds in his right arm, chest, and left leg, Specialist 4th Class Wetzel staggered back to his original position in his gunwell and took the enemy forces under fire. His machine gun was the only weapon placing effective fire on the enemy at this time. Through a resolve that overcame the shock and intolerable pain of his injuries, Specialist Fourth Class Wetzel remained at his position until he had eliminated the automatic weapons emplacement that had been inflicting heavy casualties on the American troops and preventing them from moving against the strong enemy force. Refusing to attend to his own extensive wounds, he attempted to return to the aid of his aircraft commander, but passed out from loss of blood. Regaining consciousness, he persisted in his efforts to drag himself to the aid of his fellow crewmen. After an agonizing effort, he came to the side of of the crew chief who was attempting to drag the wounded aircraft commander to the safety of a nearby dike. Unswerving in his devotion to his fellow man, Specialist Fourth Class Wetzel assisted his crew chief even though he lost consciousness once again during this action. Specialist Fourth Class Wetzel displayed extraordinary heroism in his efforts to aid his fellow crewmen. His gallant actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Army and reflect great credit upon himself and the armed forces of his country. And again, he was born in 1947. And this is what he said. He said, think about the past and consider the sacrifices men and women and the military have made for us. Wetzel said, we have to think about the past. and consider the sacrifices that men and women in the military have made for us, and we need to honor them. Our bill of the day is House Bill 1259. And this is in vitro fertilization protection and gamete donation requirements. And this is, I thought this was very timely because our featured guest in the second hour, we will be talking about in vitro fertilization. And the sponsors on this particular bill, let me get that for you, are all Democrats, Representative Meg Froelich, Representative Kyle Brown, Senator Lisa Cutter, and Senator Lindsey Doherty. And I think this is going to be a very important discussion. There are things that I hadn’t really thought about regarding IVF, in vitro fertilization. And so I’ll just let you know that this House Bill 25-1259 is out there. I think it’s in committee right now. Let me just check on that. It’s in committee, let’s see here. I think it was in committee. I’ll have to check that. And I think that the girls will know this as well when we get to those guests in the second hour. So that is our bill of the day. And this is pretty amazing. Walt Johnson sent this over to me yesterday. And as you know, Walt Johnson is the funder, really the creator, of a climate conversation. And a climate conversation is continuing to get more and more legs on it. He was ahead of the curve on this. He had it on his heart that we needed to have a Socratic conversation about the climate. And so he stepped up, he and his wife, Rami, to fund this film, A Climate Conversation, which I had the great honor to narrate. But this is huge. Lee Zeldin, who is the administrator of the EPA, the Environmental Protection Agency, and this was reported by Bloomberg, said that he’s going to end the Green New Deal. He said, “…we’re keeping people and the environment safe while overhauling rules that stifled our full potential.” And I think this is so important. This was something he put out on Wednesday. This is Lee Zellman. He said yesterday was the most consequential day of deregulation in American history. Alongside President Trump, we announced that the Environmental Protection Agency will take 31 actions to advance this day one executive orders and power the great American comeback. By overhauling massive rules on the endangerment finding, the social cost of carbon, and similar issues, we are driving a dagger through the heart of climate change religion and ushering in America’s golden age. These actions will roll back trillions of dollars in regulatory costs and hidden taxes. As a result, the cost of living for American families will decrease, and essentials such as buying a car, heating your home, and operating a business will become more affordable. Our actions will also reignite American manufacturing, spreading economic benefits to communities. Again, I’m reading this memo from Lee Zeldin, the administrator of the EPA. He says the EPA will continue to protect human health and the environment while unleashing America’s full potential. That means reconsidering the regulations that have restricted every sector of the economy, such as the illegal Clean Power Plan 2.0, mercury and air toxic standards, and the particulate matter 2.5 levels. Under President Trump’s guidance, the EPA also has ended the electric vehicle mandate that threatened to destroy America’s auto industry and made cars cost more. Instead of forcing Americans to buy expensive vehicles they neither want nor can keep powered up, we are restoring choice to consumers and bringing automaking jobs back home in line with our Great American Comeback initiative. The commitment to our manufacturing base contrasts with the Biden administration policies that ship jobs overseas. Zeldin continues, energy dominance stands at the center of America’s resurgence. By reconsidering rules that throttled oil and gas production and unfairly targeted coal-fired power plants, we are ensuring that American energy remains clean, affordable, and reliable. This isn’t about abandoning environmental protection. It’s about achieving it through innovation and not strangulation. I love that. Zeldin goes on to say the EPA’s commitment to permit reform cannot be overstated. By cutting through red tape and resolving the backlog of state and tribal implementation plans, we are creating an environment where businesses can thrive and infrastructure can be built. This is how America will become the artificial intelligence capital of the world, by removing barriers to ingenuity and investment and advancing cooperative federalism. He says, our work to end good neighbor plan admission requirements and work in partnership with the 19 states whose air quality plans were rejected by the previous administration recognizes that states and communities know best how to address their environmental challenges. EPA Administrator Zeldin goes on to say, today marks the death of the Green News scam. The EPA recognizes that environmental protection and economic prosperity aren’t mutually exclusive goals. Under President Trump’s leadership, we are recommitting to the core American values of innovation, growth, exceptionalism, and opportunity. Critics may claim these changes signal a retreat from environmental protection. Nothing could be further from the truth. Under the Trump administration, the EPA’s core mission remains safeguarding human health and environment. The difference lies in how we achieve these goals, through partnership rather than prescriptive bureaucracy, through collaboration rather than regulation. The EPA’s approach is balanced and sustainable as we enter America’s golden age. We are protecting the environment not by shutting down energy production, but by making it cleaner and more efficient. We are creating jobs not by government mandate, but through policies that advance opportunity and the entrepreneurial spirit that has always driven American prosperity. These common-sense policies preserve our environment and work for all Americans. As we unleash American energy, revitalize domestic manufacturing, cost cuts for families, and restore the rule of law, we do so with the firm belief that America’s greatest days lie ahead. Well, and tell us a little bit about this House Bill 25-1073, protections against child rape. My wine and tapas girls were over on Wednesday night, and one of the girls was… In the queue to testify regarding this bill in favor of your bill, House Bill 25-1073, she left at 1015 on Wednesday night and still had not been able to testify. My understanding is that that committee hearing went until 1 o’clock in the morning. So tell us what happened.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, that committee hearing went until almost 3 o’clock in the morning, and we found a loophole in the law. And, you know, last year when we tried to bring a bill forward to put people in jail who solicit, pander, and prostitute and own a child prostitution place, they killed it because they said in the state of Colorado, and this is the Democrats who said this, you can rape a child and receive probation, so why would we put people in jail who don’t touch a child? So we said, okay, we’re going to come back this year and we’re going to remove probation for felony three and felony four child sexual assault. And that was our bill. And they killed it. They said it’s not fair for people to go to jail indeterminately. It’s not fair for criminals not to know when they’re going to be let out of jail.
SPEAKER 16 :
Wow. And this bill, as I look at it, Brandy, you were able to get bipartisan sponsors on this, which is a big deal. And then I didn’t realize that testimony went until 3 in the morning. And that was on, well, it went into Thursday morning, so yesterday morning. And I said to my friend who was on hold, I said, she said, well, the people that are against the bill are testifying right now. And I’m like, who could be against this? I don’t understand, Brandy.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, the public defenders, we’ve never seen 12 public defenders come out and testify. One public defender actually said that these criminals hate probation so much that probation is so hard for them, they beg to go to jail. And Representative Caldwell said, are you actually trying to make us believe that sex offenders of children have it so hard on probation that they’re begging to go to jail? I mean, these are the mistruths and the lies that these people come and say. on the committee, and we bagged for it to just go to the House floor so that every representative in the State House could vote on it, and they killed it.
SPEAKER 16 :
And what was the vote on that? Did you end up having any Democrats vote with you to move the bill forward?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I think we had one Democrat vote for us because he knew it was going to fail and wanted to cover himself. Got it. So I don’t know that that was truly a vote.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes, I’ve seen that strategy before used on both sides of the aisle. And so what’s it any next steps? I think that at least shedding light on this is so important. And obviously, there was a lot of light that was shed on this Brandy Bradley.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I’m going to take every day and use their closing comments against them. I just did it for Representative Lorena Garcia, who said that it’s as a victim of child rape. She would never want her child rapist to experience what she did in jail, and 43% of inmates experience rape in jail, and it’s just not fair for that rapist to experience that. And I said, yeah, well, it’s not good for children to be sentenced to a lifetime of trauma either. So I’m going to take their closing comments, Kim. I’m going to post it on my ex-account so that the world can see the heinous statements that they made, all while not letting victims testify because it went so late into the morning.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and Randy, I had Representative Ty Winter on yesterday, and I don’t think that we here in Colorado, the Colorado public, just realizes the extent of the work that you and your other Republicans do. that are really standing up for the people, just the hours that you’re putting in. Brad Beck was in studio yesterday, and I showed him the worksheet that I did from last week for the cut work that we do. And it’s pages of bills that I go through on Friday night, and that was just last week. He said, Kim, you should post that on X so people can see. It’s such a visual to see just the onslaught of bills. It’s a bill mill down there. These are not people. Well, let me clarify that. Because you and there are other Republicans that have put forward bills to protect children, to roll things back. But overall, with this extreme Democrat majority, there are bill after bill after bill to try to control our lives.
SPEAKER 07 :
absolutely we’re the six month regulated state i mean their government is their god they feel like the more bills they pass the more power they have and the people of colorado need to understand that these are not bills to make their life easier better or more affordable these are bills to make your life the exact opposite of that and no one in colorado needs that right now and people need to understand that that’s what your state government is doing and uh
SPEAKER 16 :
And it is really yeoman’s work for you and your colleagues to be down there every day. The session’s 120 days. We’re a little over halfway through. And it’s really, it’s a lot of work, not a lot of pay. And yet I realize that there’s a lot of interested parties that are getting paid a lot to push public policy. down there. It’s pretty amazing what you all are doing. And so I want to mention Colorado Union of Taxpayers. Brandi Bradley, you were awarded our Colorado Union of Taxpayer Warrior Award for the actions that you took during 2024. And that’s a pretty big deal. And I wanted to congratulate you for that because it takes a lot to stay the course down there.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I appreciate that. And, you know, just the public needs to know that we’re fighting. I was They’re last Wednesday from 7 a.m. until 2 a.m. in the morning. And I do it because I love my state. I love my country. And I love my children. And I want to protect the other children in the state. And I appreciate CUT. Everyone should donate and help CUT because that’s what we use to kind of guide us through 700 different bills. It’s not possible to read all those bills. And to have that guidance from CUT is very important. And your listeners should understand that.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and we don’t always agree on things. But that’s what’s the beauty of our representative republic is that we have these conversations and we think about these things. And so I really do appreciate that. And it’s so interesting that you said what you just said, because I said to my my friend Patty that was on hold for your bill. And we actually had all the girls we were going to say if she got on to on to testify. Well, they were all at my house. We’re going to say pass the bill. But she didn’t get on until I don’t know when. But I said, oh, my gosh, these representatives, I can’t imagine. Why do they do that? And she said exactly what you said. She said, Brandy cares about our children. She cares about our state. And that’s why she’s doing it. So, Brandy Bradley, I know people would love to get your newsletter. Well, there’s a lot going on, Wade Miller. And in fact, at the Center for Renewing America, you all just did a really important piece regarding, let’s see, it’s digging for DEI dollars. So I wanted to talk with you about Doge and tariffs. So let’s start with Doge.
SPEAKER 10 :

SPEAKER 16 :
So it’s unbelievable what’s happening.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I mean, it’s unprecedented what they’re doing, how they were put together and formed was legally kind of brilliant. And then, of course, the way that they’re structured, they put together these kind of task force and teams, and they’re embedding them into each agency. And what they’re doing is they’re just, from the top down, they’re just observing and figuring out everything that’s going on, identifying redundancies, and just executing their mission of canceling contracts, figuring out reduction in forced postures, figuring out waste and fraud and abuse schemes, and they’re just gutting it. And it’s like something we’ve never seen before. And for those, I think that regardless of what party you might find yourself in, this is 50, 60 years of bloats just kind of built on top of itself. This is the kind of thing you need to reset and refigure out how do we actually maximize the utility and functions of government and our tax dollars. And, you know, it’s going to be a little rocky when you’re doing this much change. But overall, you know, six, seven, eight months, I think the federal government will be much better run, much more efficient, a better steward of our tax dollars, and we’ll all be better for it.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and I’ve been concerned, Wade, as we were looking at all of these jobs that were being cut, which I think it’s necessary. However, on a micro level, I’ve been concerned about people that had house payments and rent and families. And then I just – about them losing their jobs. But then as I just read this release by Lee Zeldin regarding putting a dagger into the Green New Deal, and I look at all the jobs that are going to be created, it looks to me like there’s going to be great opportunity in the private sector.
SPEAKER 10 :
Absolutely. I mean, you know, it’s all it’s kind of a little bit of a give and take here, you know. So, yeah, on the one hand, there will be job losses through efficiencies and elimination of waste, fraud and abuse. On the other hand, when you combine the deregulatory agenda of the Trump administration, I mean, it’s not just Lee Zeldin, for instance. A former legal fellow for Center for Renewing America, Jeff Clark, has been named the deregulation czar. So he’s actually in the Trump administration. And his job is to cut regulations everywhere. Now, not necessary regulations, but unnecessary regulations. So in other words, it’s not going to become legal to just pour mercury in people’s backyards tomorrow. But there’s a lot of regulations that are just completely asinine and make no sense whatsoever and just an added burden. So the cumulative effect of that alone will be a lot of job creation because companies will be a lot more free to go out and do things that will cost them a lot less money to do so. And then combine that with the energy agenda where, you know, President Trump is unleashing energy makers. Those are going to suppress costs to do business as well. So you’re going to have, you know, it’s going to take months. You know, you can’t just turn on the energy spigot. It will take, you know, six, seven, eight, nine, 12 months. But on the back end of this, I think you’re going to have an amazing economy within the next 12 to 18 months. that’s going to be booming. I think you’ll have record job additions in the free market as a result of that. So, yes, all of this combined is great. Now, does that mean that some people are unfortunately caught up in this and there will be a little bit of turbulence to their lives? Of course. But some of these people, not all of them, but some of these people did some really nefarious and bad things. too. So there’s also those people that, you know, they’ve been abusing taxpayer dollars and they’ve been, you know, using it to enrich themselves through all sorts of various government programs to enrich themselves and their families. So there’s also those people, too, and they deserve to be let go. But for those Americans who are federal workers and are just caught up and not due to no fault of their own, they’re just in an inefficient position that’s redundant and copy something else. Certainly our hearts go out to them, and we’re hoping that all of the various programs out there to find jobs for displaced workers will work to their benefit, and they’ll land on their feet.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, and I think with creativity and innovation, that can happen. As you mentioned, it’s going to be rocky, but I’m an entrepreneur, and basically every day I step forward and I’m getting a new job. I have to make sure that I… I am taking good care of my, well, I’m providing a good product for our listeners and making sure that we take care of our sponsors and looking for new sponsors. Every day, my rear end is on the line. And that’s kind of the way it’s been with the people that built America. Wade Miller?
SPEAKER 10 :
That’s right. And, you know, at the end of the day, when you pay your taxes, that makes it harder for you to do what you do and make a living and put food on the table. That money goes to Washington, D.C., and sometimes that’s okay. We need a national defense. There’s certain core responsibilities of the federal government. But then you read about all of these things that the federal government has been doing with your money, and it’s crazy. They’re paying billions, if not trillions of dollars, ultimately, to infuse DEI. Well, that’s money that people could have kept in their own pockets. We don’t need that stuff in the government. Why are we spending any money, let alone up to trillions, potentially, over a 10-year window? It’s insanity what our money has been spent on. And all of that, of course, has to come out of our paychecks in order to facilitate that. And so if we really want to make the American worker, their paycheck go farther, what do you do? Well, one, you enact a lot of the policies the Trump administration is enacting so that it lowers the cost of goods and services. But you also need to increase the value of the wage that they’re getting in the first place. And so there’s all sorts of efficiencies and corrections in economic terms that the Trump administration is implementing. And again, it’s not going to happen this month, although there’s already some things that are moving in our favor. Egg prices are coming back down. Inflation is starting to go down. But some of these, all of them cumulatively to get to the economy that’s coming, it’s going to take several more months.
SPEAKER 16 :
So Wade Miller with the Center for Renewing America, what about these activist judges? I see these headlines that come through and says, judge says that Trump needs to reinstate fired workers. What do you think about that?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, that’s just a perversion of the Constitution. You know, there is no power in the judiciary to dictate to the president what who they have to hire and or fire within the federal bureaucracy. That decision solely comes down to the president. In fact, I’m pretty sure that SCOTUS has already ruled on this effectively anyways. So I don’t think that that specific case will go anywhere. In fact, I suspect it will get thrown out pretty quickly. But more broadly, there’s 600-plus district court judges. So what the left has done is they figured out that there’s, you know, at least 30, 40, 50 really radically left activist judges who either don’t actually care at all about the Constitution or are not fans of the Constitution. And so they will pervert their power in any way, shape, or form to help the political left. And, of course, that’s not what should happen. And what we’re seeing is that appellate-level courts are overturning these fairly consistently. So we’re seeing a lot of bad news about judges. But ultimately, most of this has not been too durable once it gets to the appellate level. Because what’s happening is these little kind of low-level district judges, let’s say there’s one in Oregon, they’re issuing an edict and saying it’s a nationwide injunction and stopping Trump from doing, you know, every single thing that he’s wanting to do all over the country. And so, you know, one, what are our remedies to this? Congress can start to impeach some of these judges to send a signal. Not sure that we have the votes to get there necessarily, especially in the Senate. But number two, the Supreme Court could just remove the power of nationwide injunctions from the district court level. And that would put a lot of a damper on a lot of this type of activity and slow down the efforts of the left to weaponize the courts. to stop Trump from doing what he is constitutionally allowed to do. And then the third is Trump is pushing forward policies to implement, I think they’re called injunction bonds. Don’t quote me on that, and I’m not a lawyer. But basically, the concept is that if the people who are suing lose then they have to basically pay for the cost. So they have to put up a huge amount of money, which is going to make it really a lot more difficult for some of these NGOs that, you know, are in theory nonprofits, but are actually just well-funded and have been through government programs like USAID in the past. Anyway, so it’ll make it a little bit more difficult and make them think twice. about doing what they’re doing. And, of course, that’s not going to stop if there really is a legitimate reason to file a lawsuit against the federal government. States can do this. State attorney generals can do this. Or if it’s just a clear-cut case and there’s not a lot of risk, then these bonds can be put up. But those are the three things we’re looking at in order to kind of slow down the weaponization of the court systems against conservatives and Republican administrations.
SPEAKER 16 :
Boy, that is fascinating. Before we go to break, last question, and we’ll come back as we talk with Wade Miller. But I like so many of the things that Trump is doing. I’ve wanted to make sure, though, that he stays within our constitutional limits because our Constitution is so important. It seems to me like he is making sure he’s within the constitutional limits. Yes? Yes.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, and he’s got great lawyers that are advising him. A lot of the senior legal officials are either from Center for Renewing America or people that we have worked closely with in the past. But some of this seems radical and just from a day-to-day basis to the average American because I think we’ve ventured so far away from kind of the originalist understanding of what the Constitution is and what it says and what it allows for and the powers that it grants various entities. And so some of the things seem strange. Like, for instance, the executive order suggesting that citizenship will not apply to those born in the United States to illegals. A lot of people think, well, that’s just like the Constitution requires birthright citizenship is what some people would say. Well, no. Through the 14th Amendment, it requires citizenship for those born in the United States and who are under the jurisdiction of the United States of America at the time of their birth. And so what we’ve done is we’ve written a paper on this explaining that, well, jurisdiction is political jurisdiction and the people and meaning that the jurisdiction that you’re under politically due to the citizenship you have at that moment. So if I go to Mexico, I’m still under the political jurisdiction of the United States. I’m not under the political jurisdiction of Mexico. I’m under their territorial jurisdiction. I have to obey their laws. But the contemporaneous statements from the senators who were passing the 14th Amendment made it quite clear that they meant political, meaning the loyalty that one owes to a government at the time that this birth occurs. And so, you know, the original conception of this is pretty clear that it doesn’t apply to people who are aliens. It applies to people who are here as citizens. And yet… That’s the kind of outside-the-box thinking that people are now putting forward that is just really originalism but is being perceived as radical legal moves that are unconstitutional. And that’s just not the case. Of course, every single media outlet is going to report this as. Highly controversial, which may be in the sense that it goes against the norms of what people think it means. But this is happening across the board. You know, the concept of impoundment being used to pull back on money. Contemporaneously, people think that’s kind of a shocking move to make. But from an originalist perspective, this appears to be fully in line with the president’s authority. Indeed, for the first 200 years of this nation’s existence, presidents exerted that authority. And so we’re just running into this type of meme over and over and over again within the public and then, of course, the media and the way that they report these things.
SPEAKER 16 :

But Wade Miller, your founder of the Center for Renewing America, Russell Vogt, was in Trump 1, the Trump 1 administration. He’s now in the Trump 2 administration. We had these conversations during the old Biden-Harris administration about balancing the budget and
SPEAKER 10 :
so many different things but russell vote is back into um i guess he’s in the office of management and budget right that’s a big deal yeah he’s the uh director of the office of management budget which is a cabinet level position he’s in the president’s cabinet uh that is a big deal i think it’s pretty neat um he’s a good friend of mine i’ve worked with him or or for him uh for most of the last 15 years uh so i’m super excited that he’s there there’s Probably no one in the world that’s better suited for that position. In fact, I’m even convinced that one of the reasons that it looks like Senator Schumer was going to back down on the CR, and he may ultimately reverse course, but so far it looks like they’re going to support the CR. I think it’s because they realize that if the government shuts down, that actually empowers Russ to do quite a bit of what he wants to do. Now, it would slow down Doge, and we don’t want to do that, but it would also empower OMB. And I think the prospect of Russ Vogt having a lot of power to basically shut down large portions of the government was a little bit too much for Schumer to contemplate.
SPEAKER 16 :
I found that so interesting with Schumer last night when I was watching some of the news shows that he was going to back down on this. I found that really, really fascinating. So let’s talk a bit about tariffs. And, of course, the mainstream media is getting people really whacked out about tariffs. It was really interesting to see this let’s make a deal regarding Ontario and electricity to northern states. They said they were going to put a tariff on Ontario. And then they’re not. But as people are being fed these headlines regarding tariffs and scaring them, I was out to dinner the other night. The bill comes and the sales tax for local, county, and state sales tax was almost 10%. And I thought, oh my gosh, there is a 10% tariff right there. And then in addition, if you leave a tip, 20%, you’re looking at a 30% tariff to go out to dinner. That’s what I think people should be really whacked out about.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, and then ultimately what people need to understand is that We don’t exist in a vacuum. Our economy doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Most of the major countries in the world are imposing tariffs against us and had been long before Trump ever came to office. Some of these tariffs have been in existence for decades. So, you know, it’s one thing if it’s, you know, a peer to peer country, you know, Canada, the United States, in theory, although Canada imposes tariffs against us. It’s one thing if neither of us are imposing tariffs. We want to have a free trade agreement, work together, a rising tide lifts all boats, that kind of mentality. The problem is that a country like China will pay workers a dollar or two an hour at that, sometimes a dollar or two a day, depending on other areas of the world. They have dangerous working conditions. People are being subjected to unhealthy chemical fumes. You know, that kind of stuff. They don’t have OSHA. They don’t have all of these works, you know, say, you know, worksite safety protocols. So and they know this. And so what they’re essentially doing is they’re attacking our economy. And so if we go at this from a kind of market absolutist perspective, and I’m all for free markets when the conditions make sense. But if we allow ourselves to be the victims of this, then it undermines our economy, all of our jobs offshore to other countries. So at a certain point, the federal government has a duty to protect itself. And so I think that there’s two things going on here. Trump has been using tariff policy as leverage to get other policy concessions. So what you see with Mexico and Canada is one, you know, Canada, remove your tariffs from us. That’s unfair. Also, secure your border and stop fentanyl from coming in. Mexico, you need to secure the border. You’re allowing millions of people just to pour across your country from other countries and then come to ours. That’s not fair. That’s not being a good neighbor. And then he’s got the reciprocal tariff policy, which is, and this is my favorite because it’s the easiest to defend and demonstrate, which says that if another country has a tariff on us, on a product or in an industry or if it’s economy-wide, we are going to impose the exact same tariff on your economy. And that’s what he’s doing. I think it’s a great leverage point to protect the American worker and American industry. And it’s the right balance between free markets, And protecting the U.S. economy from people who want to cheat and essentially strip mine our economy from a distance in an unfair way that is not really in any way, shape or form like actual market centered. You know, it’s state sponsored anti-market policies from foreign governments aimed at our economy.
SPEAKER 16 :
Boy, this is really amazing. We’ve got a minute left, Wade Miller. What should people be thinking about here in Colorado and regarding the nation moving forward?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, if the CR passes, then we’ll move on to reconciliation. There are plated to be about $1.5 trillion in spending cuts in that bill, which is huge, $1.5 trillion. That will be paired up with border money to secure the border. That will be paired up with tax cuts, and they want to make them permanent and also add in some additional tax cuts. So there’s a lot coming down the pike. We also have the fiscal year 2026 appropriations process, which gets into enacting all of the DOGE cuts into the appropriations process. So this will be an exciting summer, and I just don’t see any sign that Trump and his team are slowing down.

Wow, that is really exciting. Wade Miller, thank you so much with the Center for Renewing America. Very exciting, and I just really appreciate the update.

And then, of course, when they righted the plane, he connected his seatbelt again. But these are the stories from these guys. They’re just amazing. So that’s why America’s Veterans Stories. And so to set this poem up a little bit, for those of you that have never heard of Kansas State or been to Kansas State, this is called Fake Patty Day at Kansas State, at Kansas State. is also known as the little apple because it’s in manhattan kansas now you know everybody knows the big apple is manhattan new york or you know times square wall street and all those things happen in manhattan richest island in the world they say and everything so that’s the big apple and the k-state stone is the little apple this is just you know as i look back at saint patty’s days uh you know Obviously, we had O’Neill, Nebraska is where Otter Feedlot is, and that’s an Irish capital of Nebraska, which is a lot of fun. But I think my most cherished memory of St. Patrick’s Day would be the K-State fake St. Patrick party. The weekend before, spring break falls on St. Patrick’s Day. And then somebody figured out, gosh, that weekend party, we can’t have green beards. So they create their own party the week before. Brilliant, right? Only a college kid figured that out. So here we go. Fake Patty Day at Kansas State. There was a little apple in Kansas, better known as K-State. Both our kids went there, and I thought it was great. Tailgate parties, football and basketball games. I made so many good friends, I still know most of their names. I’ve been all over Aggieville, the restaurants and bars. I’ve met Willie, Bill Snyder, and college sports stars. I’ve got so many good memories because I’m a K-State dad. But it’s easy to remember the best party that they had. Spring break and St. Paddy’s Day fell at the same time. It’s a shame to miss St. Patrick’s Day. It should be a crime. I have a great idea, said some Kansas State college kid. Let’s just fake a holiday, and that is what they did. We will dye all the beer green the weekend before. We will stock up on green T-shirts at the KSU store. We will eat green eggs and ham at Tubby’s first thing, and the green beer will flow like an old Irish spring. The bands will be playing an Irish love song, and you can polish your belt buckle all day long. The sea of green T-shirts is a mass party indeed. Must be hundreds of different slogans to read. A man and his wife came from the opposite direction. I think her shirt said she was Irish by injection. So many funny T-shirts, it just cracked me up, so I headed back to the bar to fill up my cup. My wife and I did our best to rock the Irish green. Her shirt said she was an Irish dancing machine. My shirt had two wildcats and a big heart in the middle. It said, kiss me, I’m a wildcat. It was more like a riddle. What did that mean, I asked my beautiful wife. We were eating corned beef and having the time of our life. She said, look at those girls. So I took a quick peek as they snuck up and landed a kiss on each cheek. Okay. Okay, I’m good. The kissing on the cheek is what got you, right, Jimmy? The thing came on the thing. I guess I must have turned about three shades of red. My wife laughed and smacked me up the side of the head. Our whole table was laughing, but my only thought was, that might be the best T-shirt that I ever bought. See that old man over there? What does his shirt say? If CNN can fake the news, we can fake a holiday. So I raised my green beer and said, here’s to K-State. It might be a week early, but your party is great. Oh, my gosh.
SPEAKER 16 :
That is just awesome. So a couple of things. First of all, I’ve got some people coming over this evening, so I’m going to stop by Lavaca and get some of your special hamburger because I want to treat them. And then this came in this morning after I had talked a little bit about you. It says, does Lavaca Meats have, and this is on the text line, have anyone or a printout for cooking their products? Oh, thank you for that great question. I know that Zachary and some of our kids have done some things in the past online, and I’ve seen them on Facebook. I’m even thinking that when Alyssa was working that thing, they had a kind of a cookbook of some things. I will work on that and see if I can’t get something maybe in writing out to the public and talk to Jerry about it. And, yeah, I think there’s been a lot of things done in the past, and we can work on that for you. And that’s a very good point. When you’ve got the best beef, you want to know how to prepare it right. We’ve got a special seasoning package there at Lavaca that you can buy that we really recommend with the garlic and the things that we like. But, you know, everything’s, of course, you know, try and see. I think we can work on that, Kim, and I’ll see if I can’t get something out maybe in the next week or two.

But before we get into that subject, Juliana Day, you’ve introduced me to Savannah. I appreciate that. But give us a quick update on what people should know regarding legislation policy here in Colorado regarding abortion. And we’re going to talk again with you in more in depth here within about a week or so.
SPEAKER 05 :
Thank you, Kim, for having me. It’s always a pleasure. Yeah, there’s a lot of stuff going on, especially after voters approved Amendment 79 back in November. So just to give you a summary what Amendment 79 is about. We have the repeal of the state constitution amendment prohibiting the use of public funds to pay for abortion. That’s number one. Number two, added a state constitutional amendment recognizing the right to abortion and prohibits Colorado state and local governments from denying, impeding, or discriminating against the exercise of an abortion. Therefore, establishing the legalization of abortions on demand without any restrictions for the full 40 weeks of pregnancy or until the moment of birth. And another thing that Amendment 79 does is that it officially eliminates the only abortion restriction that it was enforced in our state, that it was the parental notification. Amendment 79 ensures unrestricted and regulated taxpayers’ funding access to abortion. It’s the only medical intervention that is protected, yet totally unregulated, that is in the Colorado Constitutional Bill of Rights. In other words, it’s the only protected class that involves the act of terminating another human being. So it’s just incredible. And all the bills that are right now introduced in the state legislature is because of Amendment 79. So what is happening right now is that Colorado has no minimum health standards for abortion clinics. regulations or inspections for abortion clinics are not existent in our state. So second and third trimester abortion clinics are no license, are no regulated or inspected, despite the high risk that abortion procedures they perform. So because of that, there was a pro-life bill, HB 25-1252, that it was the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Regulation of abortion clinics. So what it was intended to do It was to require the Department of Public Health and Environment to annually license and to establish and enforce the standards for operation of medical facilities, mainly for the second and third trimester abortion clinics. And to give you an example of how important it is to regulate these clinics, we have a case in point. On February 6th, Lexi Arguello, she was an 18-year-old beautiful girl, died from abortion complications after undergoing a second trimester abortion at Fort Collins Planned Parenthood that ultimately cost her life. She was already 22 weeks alone in her pregnancy. And this is why everything is under investigation. But apparently the Planned Parenthood clinic where the abortion was performed waited too long to call an ambulance and requested no sirens to hide the situation. So right now, Operation Rescue is investigating all the details. So during the hearing for this bill, the public affairs manager for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains argued that Planned Parenthood did not need any regulation. She also said that Planned Parenthood is the beacon of hope. So despite the testimony about this case, as expected, of course, the bill was killed. So then there’s another bill that was also very important, SB 25183, that it was the coverage for pregnancy-related services. So this deal removes the constitutional restriction of Amendment 3. So this is a pro-abortion bill. So what they were trying to do is what we’ve been saying for a while, when we were fighting Amendment 79, it was because they’re trying to use public funds to pay for abortion. So what this bill does is to expand Medicaid reimbursement eligibility to include abortion. It requires the Medical Service Board to add abortion care to the list of covered services for pregnant women under the Children’s Basic Health Plan. And Colorado will likely use the state funds to cover Medicaid abortions. Right now, already passed the Senate third reading. So very soon now we are going to be forced to pay for abortions. I know only for. The abortions that are performed not from residents of the state, but also for non-residents.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. Go ahead. Well, you know what? Let’s keep that as just a precursor for we’re going to be more in-depth on this particular subject here. I think you’re going to be on on the 24th. And so, Juliana, there’s really a lot going on in this Amendment 79. In my voter’s guide, I was a definite no on that. And as you’re talking about what’s really going to happen here, just one question. People that voted for Amendment 79, when you say, do you realize in Colorado that you can abort, a baby can be aborted up until the time of birth? Even people that voted for Amendment 79 said, no, no, that’s not possible. That is possible in Colorado, right? Right.
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s right. And that’s one of the things that is very sad because when we were trying to stop Amendment 79, when we were talking to people, they didn’t know the implications of this amendment. And they didn’t know about parental notification that it would be eliminated and that we would be forced as taxpayers to pay for abortion. And mainly that there’s still people in this state that have no idea that we accept abortion until the moment of birth. It’s just incredible what is happening in this state. And there are so many laws that we’re going to be discussing on the 24th. Because there’s a long list of pro-abortion deals and pro-life deals, too, that have been introduced.

Good to be here. So, Savannah, I sent this over to you because a volunteer gig that I have is president of the Colorado Union of Taxpayers. And I do quickly want to give a shout out to these folks. And there is a piece of legislation here in Colorado right now, House Bill 25-1259, in vitro fertilization protection, and is it gamete donation requirements right here in Colorado? And I thought it was… remarkable that you’re going to be on the show. There’s this piece of legislation cut. We took a no against it, and some of my colleagues are helping with our commentary on it, and our commentary began with, we have no issue with this technology of in vitro fertilization, but removing the ability of parents to know the medical history of the donor is unacceptable. There’s a lot of issues on this, and Savannah, I’ve loved, I have friends that have used IVF. They have children that they love. It’s a blessing. But there’s things that we need to think about on this, yes?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, definitely. You’re exactly right. And I think the biggest thing that most people in the public, especially if you have never had infertility or had to consider using in vitro fertilization that people don’t really understand, which is that IVF itself is an incredibly technically ineffective technology. Only seven to eight percent of embryos created through IVF are born. And that, you know, that statistic is made up of a number of different factors. But one of the main factors is that, you know, the technology just does not create an environment, a petri dish is not an environment as conducive to life as a womb is. And that will never be the case. This technology is, like I said, it’s imperfect. We’ve also got situations where there are embryos that are being frozen indefinitely. So IVF is, like I said, an imperfect technology. So really, it’s a numbers game. You make as many embryos as you can for the hopes that you will have embryos by the sixth to eighth day, which is the blastocyst stage as the embryo grows out in that petri dish and is prepared for the transfer to the mother’s womb. You grow as many as possible with the intention to have embryos at that last stage to be able to transfer. And you could have 15, 10, 8 embryos at the beginning of this. And so we’re just seeing maybe two, three, you know, at the end ready to be transferred. And then the most perfect of situations, we have studies that show that around 30% of the time, maybe shows 35%, so 30 to 35% of transfers of embryos that have reached that blastocyst stage, that sixth to eighth day, make it to be implanted are transferred successfully. And then of course are gestated and the pregnancy develops and then the baby is born. But to get to the point of a successful transfer, so few make it to that point. So I think that is one of the main concerns with the technology itself. And of course you are so right, every single life created through IVF and conceived naturally is valuable. Every single life is valuable. And that’s the reason that we’re bringing up these concerns and looking into this technology. And what are the implications that this creates? Because we value every embryo’s life. And in a technology where most of the life does not survive the process, we really have to look at Is this the way that we want to move forward if one is suffering from infertility? And we also look in our series at alternatives. We look at restorative reproductive medicine for qualifying individuals, curing one’s infertility, treating that, the root cause, rather than going to IVF. And so it’s just one of the alternatives we look at.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, so people can get more information by going to luciditypictures.com. But you just mentioned to address where there’s challenges for, and I can’t remember exactly what you said regarding being able to get pregnant. So what does that look like exactly, Savannah?
SPEAKER 06 :
Right, so infertility is technically the diagnosis medically of 12 months of continuous intercourse with no successful pregnancy. And so if after 12 months, there’s markers too, at about six months, you could go to your OBGYN and say, I don’t think things are working out. Let’s take a look at this, maybe monitor. And then after six months, then let’s say a couple has that diagnosis. And so their OBGYN is going to try a couple of different fertility treatments, maybe look at hormones, take some blood tests, et cetera. And then At a certain point, if those are not working, then we’ll refer the client to an IVF clinic. And so that couple will go, they’ll be told what the process looks like and everything. And then if they decide to go ahead with IVF, then the woman is given hormones to cause her body to hyperovulate, meaning that naturally, every month, you know, in a natural cycle for women, they’re going to ovulate one egg per month. And so that’s so that they can conceive one baby most of the time. But in this situation, like I said, it’s a numbers game. You want as many chances as possible at a live birth so that this woman is giving hormones to hyper ovulate. She I think that the wording in the literature is that she ovulates the amount in a year in one cycle. And so that could look like, depending on the woman, 12 eggs. It also depends on age and a couple other factors, 12 eggs, 15 eggs. And so under ultrasound guidance and medication so she doesn’t feel this, a reproductive endocrinologist will remove those eggs and then look at them under a petri dish, say, okay, you know, a couple of them look mature enough to be fertilized out of the set, say about 80% of those being able to be fertilized, not all of them are mature enough. And then he will give them to an embryologist who will take them and then with the husband’s sperm or the partner’s sperm or a donor’s sperm, wherever, you know, get the sperm, And then there’s two different methods of fertilization. So they’re either going to put a lot of sperm into a petri dish with these eggs, or they’re going to take one particular sperm that they have looked at, determined that he was a good candidate, the sperm was a good candidate, and then they’re going to do a method where they take that sperm into a needle and then puncture the membrane of the egg and then inject the sperm into the egg for some fertilization. And so 85% of those eggs in that dish that are ready to be fertilized will be fertilized, whether that’s overnight waiting for things to naturally happen in that dish or through this intra membrane method.
SPEAKER 16 :
And so once you have it, yeah, sorry. Well, Savannah, I find this absolutely fascinating. And again, I’m thinking about friends that I have that have wanted to have a child and have used IVF and They’re just ecstatic when it actually has occurred. And so there’s that whole part of this. This is fascinating. But we haven’t thought about the other part of that, and that’s all of these other fertilized eggs. In looking at your picture, which, let’s see, is cradled in glass, is there’s some really nefarious things that can then happen with these fertilized eggs, which are life.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, and so I think one of the main issues that people going through IVF themselves will come across most of the time is that fertility clinics of course they’re patient-centered but they’re also a business and so they want to have the highest chances of successful pregnancy birth and healthy babies at the end of all of this that they can which makes sense but that introduces a level of eugenics where you’re considering genetic testing and so rather than know manipulating the sperm in some way or the egg in some way before that fertilization to lower the chances of some genetic disease being passed down or chromosomal abnormality that’s down syndrome turner syndrome rather than doing that you are taking the embryos that have been grown out to blastocyst stage right before they would be transferred into the mother this is the sixth about the sixth day they’re going to do a biopsy removing about seven cells from this 100 cell blastocyst. And then look at those cells, look at the chromosomes and see, test them for those genetically related diseases, test them for chromosomal abnormalities. We also have shown that those tests for chromosomal abnormalities in particular called PGTA testing is incredibly ineffective at actually showing whether an embryo will, in its development, grow into an infant with Down syndrome or Turner syndrome or something like that. But testing itself is often faulty. And we’re also going to be destroying the embryos that test unfavorably. Oh, boy.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, so we have a lot more to talk about on this. And I think what I want to do, Savannah, is we’re going to get Juliana Day. She’s on the line as well. She’s going to be on in a week or so to talk more about abortion. I want to get you on again to do a featured guest on this because this is a very important discussion that we have. But he has been watching legislation down at the statehouse. One of them was the surveillance bill, Senate Bill 011. It’s – It’s under the guise of looking for wildfires, but actually they’re looking at you. So Mike, welcome to the show. Give us an update on Senate Bill 25011. Well, hi, Kim.
SPEAKER 08 :
Thanks for having me on again. And yeah, this bill passed unanimously, unfortunately, through the Finance Committee. There are only two people speaking in opposition and none speaking in support. So Some bills definitely get a lot of folks down there. I know like 003 is getting a lot of attention. But I feel like Coloradans need to kind of divide and kind of help each other understand the myriad of ways that freedoms can be infringed. And this would be one of them. What’s interesting is when you and I talked, you had pointed out the grants, gifts, and donations. And that came up during this debate. And it’s very interesting because it was mentioned that this whole thing is being modeled after. Aston. There was a private donation for $50,000 for one camera. And then Aston got their one camera. And because the state’s in such a fiscal mess, it sounds like the sponsors were saying, well, instead of trying to earmark specific money from the regular budget, that they would accept grants and donations of $2 million this year and $2 million in fiscal year 26 to 27. And I did bring up And I’m sure you would agree that third-party money could equal third-party influence.
SPEAKER 16 :
And that’s pretty concerning. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 08 :
You nailed it. And they actually hit this on the head because there was a rep from, I think, Castle Rock area that had mentioned if someone from my area, i.e. Castle Rock, wanted a camera in Castle Rock, they could donate to this general fund but then ask for it to be in some form in Castle Rock instead. And that begs the question of equal protection. If I’m to donate money to a general fund, how do I earmark it for my specific backyard? If I truly believe in this tech, which I don’t, I don’t like it, but if I did believe in it, isn’t it kind of disingenuous to donate from my own backyard as opposed to maybe an area where people couldn’t have the $50,000 to donate and to protect themselves? So I see that as a secondary issue where you can just donate and protect your own backyard.
SPEAKER 16 :
So with that, this gifts, grants, and donations, this was something that I started to, as I was reading different, well, you know, I know what it was. It was as I was reading different propositions and amendments as I was doing my voter’s guide, I came across this gifts, grants, and donations. I’m like, wait a minute. As you just said, this could be third-party influence or third-party money using influencing money. our legislation or our things that we’re voting on. And I thought, this is danger, danger, because what that means is interested parties are going to come in and they’ll be able to use the force of law.
SPEAKER 08 :
Or get the seat at the table, right?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah. Yeah. then with cut i started to see this in legislation and so i had asked karen who has created bill track 50 which is what we use if if she could put in some specific words that we could just flag so that we could get a good look at it so i asked her to put in gifts grants and donations i’ve not gone through the whole list there’s 47 pieces of legislation down there that has that terminology that means there’s 47 pieces of legislation that are inviting third parties in the money and that influence. That is not representative of government, Mike.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, it’s just not the cornerstone of freedom. If I invite even you to help budget my house, then you’re going to have to have a say on how the house runs. I remember back in the day when Mayor Bloomberg was talking about requiring gym memberships for everybody in New York City if they’re going to pay for everyone’s health care. So you start getting into this weird spot of if-then. So what’s interesting is if you look at things like Jefferson County, Jefferson County has a Jefferson County Economic Development Council, and any company can buy their way onto the board, as far as I read. You can have a specific membership donation level, and then you get a seat at the table. So by extension, if you’re looking at, say, I don’t know, a very large company or a very large private donor who can say, I’d like X amount of cameras and I’ll put X amount of dollars in approximately 50,000 a camera, wouldn’t they then have some form of exercise of influence in this situation? And now private parties are now determining how we get surveilled with the camera system.
SPEAKER 16 :
And that is the key. Private companies and government, neither one of them should be surveilling the population. Mike, we’ve got two minutes left. I wanted to ask you about this opt-in on the smart meters. I’ve opted out on a smart meter, and I think smart meters are really a dumb idea. And there’s legislation down there right now, so just give us a quick synopsis on that.
SPEAKER 08 :
Sure. Sheila Leiter, our leader from District 28, which is Bear Creek, Bowles area into kind of Lakewood and Littleton, kind of gerrymanders in. It’s a House Bill 25-11-75. I saw it yesterday. I was really excited. It passed committee. I did testify. It’s an opt-in instead of opt-out, so if it passes at a certain point this year, all new construction would start with the basic meter, and you’d have to actually opt in if you wanted a smart meter. Testimony included the Naperville, Illinois lawsuit where a district court decided that Yes, smart meters are considered searches under the Fourth Amendment. However, this particular judge decided that the benefits to the electrical grid outweigh the risks of individual privacy. Now, why is it a search? they give information at 15-minute intervals. So you get sub, I think it was 2,880 hits per year on your usage. So an entity can then look at your patterns of behavior, whether maybe you’re a shift worker working at night, whether you’re up early in the morning, whether you’re using too much power at a certain time of day, and so on. Whereas a traditional meter is a snapshot once a month of how much you just used. So there’s There is a credible situation here where it was determined to be a Fourth Amendment search. But also people had talked about, on the other side, how smart meters are safe and there’s no radio frequency issues. And they were using the 1996 guidelines from the FCC, which we know that in California there was a lawsuit saying it was inappropriate to continue using the 1996 guidelines. I believe that was in 2019. So the science is outdated today. and the the search um issues are real and the last thing i want to mention with that as a member in 2022 excel uh had 22 000 residents cut out of their smart thermostats if you have a smart meter connected to a smart thermostat and you opted into this particular program they said well we’re in the energy emergency because everything’s an emergency And we’re going to lock your smart thermostat down via your smart meter. So it’s a two-way street. And at this point, they’re about 88 degrees, according to what I read in the news. My worry is this. What are the health effects to our elderly or someone who might be compromised at 88 degrees? Who is the doctor who determined that temperature? And what liability would XL be incurring if someone died from an in-house heat wave?
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, they’re trying to control our own personal climates on that, Mike. We’re going to continue the discussion. We’re out of time. Thank you so much. Peter Mullenberg said this in 1776.
