9-1-2024: A Permission Slip To Defend Freedom- Al Jennings Explains

Welcome to the America’s Veterans Stories podcast.

Kim Monson is your host.

WWII Marine Veteran Al Jennings was just seventeen when he joined the Marines. Because he was not eighteen, his mother and father had to sign a permission slip for him to become a Marine. We are re-broadcasting an interview with Jennings. He shares his story regarding the famous WWII Battle of Iwo Jima. Jennings tells of briefly seeing his brother during the five week long battle and that two of his brothers briefly met at the earlier WWII Battle of Guadalcanal.
