SPEAKER 14 :
It’s the Kim Monson Show, analyzing the most important stories.
SPEAKER 07 :
I find that it takes work to get your brain around these ideas, and it takes work to engage in these conversations.
SPEAKER 14 :
The latest in politics and world affairs.
SPEAKER 07 :
With what is happening down at the Statehouse, I used to think that it was above my pay grade to read the legislation, and it’s not.
SPEAKER 14 :
Today’s current opinions and ideas.
SPEAKER 07 :
I see big danger in as much as we will be giving an unelected bureaucrat the power to make rules about what we inject into our bodies.
SPEAKER 14 :
Is it freedom or is it force? Let’s have a conversation.
SPEAKER 07 :
Indeed. Let’s have a conversation. And welcome to the Kim Monson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You each are treasured. You’re valued. You have purpose today. Strive for excellence. Take care of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your body, my friends. We were made for this moment in history. Thank you to the team. That’s Producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Teresa, Amanda, and all the people here at Crawford Broadcasting. Happy Thursday.
SPEAKER 26 :
Happy Thursday, Kim.
SPEAKER 07 :
Sorry, guys. As you know, we look at these issues through this lens of freedom versus force. Force versus freedom. And… Our country is under attack, and these ideas of freedom and liberty, responsible exercise of freedom are under attack. Everyday people are under attack. Our children are under attack. And with the events yesterday, with basically the assassination of Charlie Kirk, it’s really unbelievable. And it’s been attributed to Stalin that ideas are more powerful than guns. We wouldn’t let our opponents have guns, so why would we let them have ideas? And that is why the founders put freedom of speech first. as the very first thing in the Bill of Rights. And that’s why they put the Second Amendment in there to protect everything else. And the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. And the fact that here in Colorado, we have continued to see legislation and ordinances to take away our Second Amendment rights. We’ll talk with Alicia Garcia and Teddy Collins tomorrow with the Second Syndicate. is why the founders put that in there as well. And I honestly cannot believe what happened yesterday, that a young father, 31 years old, father of two children, who lived out his Christian faith, that he would be assassinated. Initially, I thought somebody was just short behind him, and I thought, what a coward. But then when I found out that it was really somebody much farther away, I realized this is an attack upon our ideas. And he was so influential that they decided to, and I don’t know who they is, but they decided to take him out. And so… I had been in my office yesterday and working on things, and I had not taken my cup of coffee in and put it in the dishwasher. And I came back in this morning, and there it was, and I thought, oh, my gosh. How things can change within 24 hours or just things can change in a minute. So a rest in peace, Charlie Kirk. And then the shooting up at Evergreen High School of students. We send our kids, our teachers to school and we expect them. to come home at the end of the day. And again, the idea that we would not have teachers and people that want to be trained with firearms to protect themselves and the children is just beyond belief to me. It makes everybody sitting ducks. And cowards then will take advantage of that. So let’s get into things today. Our quote of the day is courage, and it is C-O-U-R-A-G-E. It’s the state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution, bravery. And our quote of the day is from Thomas Paine, born in 1737, died in… 1809, he was an English-born American founding father, a French revolutionary inventor, political philosopher, and statesman. He authored Common Sense and the American Crisis, which were two of the most influential pamphlets at the start of the American Revolution. He said this, I love the man that can… Hold on. I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress and grow brave by reflection. It is the business of little minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm, whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death. And that’s Thomas Paine. The show comes to you because of all of your support and because of our wonderful sponsors. And on the line with us is Karen Gorday. She’s an entrepreneur. She’s the owner of Radiant Painting and Lighting. Give her a call for indoor, outdoor painting and getting ready for the holidays with your outdoor lighting. Karen Gorday, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 11 :
Good morning, Kim. Thanks for having me.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, you and I had been texting back and forth regarding 9-11. This assassination of Charlie Kirk, it’s almost like a 9-11 moment to me as well, Karen.
SPEAKER 11 :
I would agree. I just don’t have words. He was someone who just, to your point, lived his faith. He pushed for transparency. and essentially he was taken out because he was true to who he was and it’s disturbing.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, it is. And this battle, and you are engaging in that, is really, when we talk about local government, I think people think that, oh, local government, they’re watching out for me because they’re local, they’re close. The most local of all government starts with ourselves. And then if we are handling that, you know, within the confines of what we’re… Not hurting our neighbors, not trying to take their stuff. We assume that local government is watching out for us, but they’re not. And you’re seeing that in Lakewood. And so you are stepping forward to run for office there in Lakewood. That’s a very big deal, Karen Gorday.
SPEAKER 11 :
It is. It is. And, you know, seeing the events yesterday, it caused me to do a lot of reflection. I will say that.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes, I know. So next thing, we were going to talk about 9-11. You were in Washington. Well, you grew up in the Washington, D.C. area, right? That’s correct, yes. And you were there. You were working in D.C. at the time. So what’s your recollection and your experience of 9-11?
SPEAKER 11 :
So I was actually working in Reston, which is about five minutes from Dulles Airport. Well, it was originally five minutes from Dulles Airport, but now there’s a lot of construction. So it’s probably not that close now because of the traffic. But I was in telecommunications and our entire building supported the federal government. and so um you know when when that happened uh we had tvs on all around the building but because we supported the federal government we had connections inside the agencies um and and remember when this happened they said there was a potential of a fifth plane i remember there was a bunch of us that went outside the building and we’re just looking up at the sky because you’re close to dallas airport there’s typically a lot of planes in the air and that day they shut the airspace down, but we’re in the parking lot looking for another plane. Um, had a coworker whose husband, um, was a firefighter. He was, he was one of the first responders to the Pentagon. Another coworker, her brother was in the world trade center, uh, towers. They never found them. Um, so it kind of, it, it, It’s still raw, just many years later, when you’re that close to what’s going on.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and then the events of yesterday with Charlie Kirk, and then in a way a little bit overshadowed, but this thing in Evergreen is just right down the street from you, Karen.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yes, I have friends that have kids at Evergreen, and it’s a lot to process. It’s like what is going on in our world. And to your point, we’re under attack. It’s a lot to comprehend.
SPEAKER 07 :
It is. And so with that, Karen, I so appreciate you stepping forward to run for Lakewood City Council. Give us your two websites for your business and for your campaign and just know that I really appreciate you.
SPEAKER 11 :
Absolutely. So the business website is www.paintwithradiant.com, or you can reach us via phone, 720-940-3887. And then the website for the campaign is Karen4, 4 is spelled out, karen4lakewood.com.
SPEAKER 07 :
Karen Gorday, thank you so much. It’s a very somber, it’s a very solemn day, but I wish you a very blessed day, Karen Gorday, and thank you.
SPEAKER 11 :
Thank you. Same to you, Kim.
SPEAKER 07 :

Rob Nadelson will kick it off at 5 p.m. with the discussion of ancient Rome and the Constitution. And my friends, the U.S. Constitution Week is focusing on these big ideas. And Charlie Kirk was taken out yesterday because he focused on big ideas. We can’t kowtow to this. We’ve got to engage in this battle of ideas. And so check out their website, GrandLakeUSConstitutionWeek.com. On the line with me is my friend, my colleague. a fellow board member on the Colorado Union of Taxpayers, also a young man that engages in the battle of ideas. He stepped forward to run for state house this last go-round, and I have great regard, great respect for him, and that is Corey Onizorg. Welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 19 :
Good morning, Kim. Thanks a lot. Heavy day, huh?
SPEAKER 07 :
It is a heavy day. And before we get into it, Corey, let’s just say thank you to our fellow board members. They’re all volunteers, kind of like the founders. They were all volunteers. Steve Dorman, Greg Golianski, Russ Haas, Bill Hamill, Rob Knuth, John Nelson, Wendy Warner, Marty Nielsen, Ramey Johnson. Mary Jansen, Dave Evans, you, Corey, Ona Zorg, Paula Beard, and Ray Beard. An amazing group of people. So, Corey, everything’s kind of changed since we organized things for the show. I guess I just want to know your perspective because you are engaging in this battle of ideas. We have to reclaim Colorado. We’re at the tip of the spear. What’s your thoughts?
SPEAKER 19 :
The prayer list keeps getting bigger and bigger, Kim. Yeah. You know, I think of 9-11. I think of, you know, just recently the gal that was stabbed on the bus and now Charlie Kirk. Or the train. Or the train, yeah. Sorry, not bus. And, you know, I keep going back to as Podesta Carville plan of, of if Trump wins and then we’re going to promote a civil war and we’re going to, you know, hit from, try to hit from both sides. And I really think we’re in the, you know, speaking of 9-11, we’re in the dangerous days of false flags. I think they’re going to try to keep amping up for us to be fighting each other and divide and conquer when in reality, that’s just all that it is. It’s divide and conquer. And to get us to, be at war with each other instead of against the people that have attempted to ruin our country and turn it into a communist state. So it’s kind of my general take.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and that’s why engaging in this battle of ideas is absolutely critical. And instead of focusing on fighting with each other, let’s continue. We’ve got to continue to bring forth light to this whole battle of ideas, Corey. And I know that you’re working really hard on that. And this is where it’s at, Corey. This is where it’s at.
SPEAKER 19 :
Yeah, I mean, you know, when you look at a local level, you know, to me, I guess my message is, first and foremost, I’m a servant of God, an American patriot, far before I identify with any party. And I’m a Coloradan before I identify with politics. And, you know, that has meaning to it. And I think that’s a strong message that, you know, can reach through to unaffiliated to potentially walk away Democrats. At the end of the day, the Republican Party, it’s a tool. It’s a tool we can use to take back our city, our county, and our state, and ultimately country. And um you know we live in the shadows of our forefathers and uh and their attitude in 1776 was give me liberty or give me death that’s how important freedom and liberty was that’s how important this country was to them and it should be that important important to all of us so well absolutely and
SPEAKER 07 :
Corey, yesterday I could feel such anger initially and wanting to find this person that assassinated Charlie Kirk. And just I felt such anger about this. And then I got a text from somebody that said that vengeance, God says vengeance is mine. And so we’ve got to focus on bringing us together on these, again, these ideas, as you mentioned, the founding of our country. This idea that we’re all created equal with these inalienable rights from God of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. And somebody was challenging, or not really challenged me on the word. There’s a difference between inalienable and unalienable. It’s hard for me to say unalienable. And we’ll probably delve into that at some point. But with that… The grind work that we do during the legislative session, looking at these pieces of legislation that are being proposed, there was over 760-some pieces of legislation that were proposed. And the fact that this little team that we have would go to work and we took positions on well over 260 pieces of legislation, this is where the whole battle of ideas where we have to engage in. And that’s why we would really appreciate people joining us and supporting. And somebody said, cut Colorado union of taxpayers is your shortcut to know what’s going on. I love that. I think it said, I’m going to use that. And because otherwise they’re just, they’re just doing all kinds of things down there at the state legislature to to take more and more control of our lives and we don’t even know what’s going on. And it’s by design. They’re trying to flood the zone with us, Corey.
SPEAKER 19 :
Yeah, I live in Lakewood. It’s a perfect example. You look at what’s happening in the statehouse, how it trickles down into the county and then into your city councils. And at the end of the day, city council has zero say over all these six-figure salary people working for the city of Lakewood, including city planner. And they have a say over city planner, but that’s it. And you have this huge workforce of people bureaucrats city employees that don’t even live in our city and they’re just basically taking denver and deciding to sprawl it over to the neighboring cities like aurora and now lakewood and you know it’s there are so many things that the community can come together on and uh put aside our our differences and uh and figure this thing out because uh I mean, with God, everything is possible. But at the same time, we need a sense of urgency because the clock is ticking. You know, the analogy, I suppose, we’re in the fourth quarter, right?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and while you mentioned that, I quickly went to Open the Books. We had the CEO of Open the Books on earlier this week, John Hart. And it’s just a great tool, and I’m figuring out how to get around it pretty quickly. But what we are doing, we are being taxed to pay bureaucrats to basically – take away our our rights in our property so I’ll give you just an example you mentioned the city manager at the city of Lakewood this does not include pension or benefits this is from open the books in 2024 Kathy at her name’s Kathy Hodgkin Hodgkin I think HODG SON she was paid three hundred ninety seven thousand dollars now who is the city planner maybe I can find out who that would be and I can give you Their – well, let’s see here. I’ll just – their building inspector in Lakewood was paid $233,000. The city attorney, $241,000. And what we’ve seen in Lakewood is that instead of – standing for people’s rights, protecting their private property rights, they’re figuring out ways to usurp those, I would say, Corey Onasorg. So we’re being taxed to pay people to take away our rights and our freedom. That’s the bottom line, right?
SPEAKER 19 :
Oh, 100%. And it’s going to take all of us getting involved and figuring out what our strengths are and putting that to good use and having God work through us to to get to the other side of this thing. So, prayers out to Charlie Kirk’s family, friends, Turning Point, and also the families of Evergreen Homeschool Shooting, and prayers for our country, 9-11.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, and that was at Evergreen High School, yeah. Corey Onizorg, I’m so excited to work with you at the Colorado Union of Taxpayers and our other volunteers. I appreciate you immensely. Thank you for the conversation. I really appreciate it.
SPEAKER 19 :
God bless you, Kim, and thanks so much.

And welcome back to The Kim Monson Show. Check out our website. I want to mention the U.S. MC Memorial Foundation and the great work that they’re doing on a day like this, making a contribution to the U.S. MC Memorial Foundation. is a way to say thank you to all those that have given their lives, have been willing to give their lives for our freedom. And so that’s one of the reasons why I so appreciate them, support them. They are having a 5K run on the 20th of September, so check that out. oh my gosh what drew dix and brad padula are doing down at the center for american values in pueblo is amazing and again on a day like this support them and make a contribution there as well they are focusing on educational programs for educators for kids they’re on on values presentations focused on honor integrity and patriotism these are two places that you can just make a little contribution to say thank you And on days like this, it’s always good to be with good friends. And Brad Beck is in studio with me. Brad, it’s great to have you here.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, I wish I could say it’s a good morning, but it’s a tough morning, Kim, and you’ve done a good job getting this show off the air. It was a tough night last night. I know. 9-11, of course, and then the shooting up in Evergreen with those students, and then Charlie. About noon, a little after, my wife said, Charlie, Kirk’s been shot. Kirk and… I came downstairs and watched the news and pretty much didn’t stop. And… It was pretty impactful. It was, to me, the day that… I remember as a kid watching or seeing the Kennedy assassination and it felt like that. And… I got to meet Charlie Kirk in 2018. Boulder County Republicans had their Lincoln dinner and I was the master of ceremonies. And on my way downstairs to check everything out, Charlie was coming out of his hotel room. And I saw him. I said, hi, Charlie. I’m Brad. I’m going to be emceeing. And we had a nice little conversation and gave him some directions where things were and went downstairs. And then that evening, he came down. And he was just so personable and friendly and took pictures with everybody, signed everybody’s books. But his speech was so dynamic. His presentation touched hearts. And this was before really anybody knew who he was. And I found the picture he took with me in my files and I put it on Facebook and You know, Charlie was a communicator. Charlie was one of those people who could speak in a way that communicated the ideas that we believe in. You know, the ideas of freedom and liberty. And it’s really, it would be a blessing if we had more free speech to honor the um especially on today that’s why they took him out yes i mean i i’ve seen the videos at first i couldn’t believe it i thought it was made up and then i saw some different angles and i just saw the the amount of blood coming from him i thought there’s just no way he was gonna make it yeah no way he was gonna make it and um You know, we need more Charlie Kirks. We need more heroes from like the responders at 9-11 who went into the buildings, who saved people. We need more people like you to talk. And conversation is never bad. Having a discussion, having a debate, and he did it so well. He did it in a way that if you disagree with him, you have to come down to the front of his booth and he went all over college campuses and say, come on, let’s talk. And did he change hearts and minds? Yes. Did he get you to think a little bit? We don’t think anymore. Our education system is all about learning. But we’re not taking the time to slow down and think. Not necessarily react, but reflect. And listen. And his memory will live on, his Turning Point USA organization, which is just, I can’t speak enough about how he’s changed young people’s minds, how he’s brought back the idea that to be a person who has ideas, to be a conservative or to be a libertarian or even to be somebody who can question, You brought that back to where it was cool again. To question. To question. To stand up and say, well, I have a different opinion. Let’s talk about it. And I think it’s amazing that in this day and age, they’re coming back after ideas. You were so right with your opening quote about, you know, that it can’t let ideas out. Because if you have a different idea… You know, you may infect other people with that idea. And we saw it happen, play out in COVID, Wuhan. I mean, you couldn’t think differently. You couldn’t talk differently. And with Charlie, I think the same thing has happened. And it’s going to be some time to heal, just like 9-11. I remember that on 9-11 I was at work and somebody said the Trade Center had been hit and everybody went right to their computer screens. It was so impactful that day. We sent people home from the office and I was here in Boulder and it took a couple days just to let that sink in and About a week later, I had to actually be down in Dallas for a meeting. And, of course, my wife said, you’re not flying. And I said, I have to. And she said, no, you’re not. And I said, well, I’m going to drive down there. And I remember all the American flags on all the cars. And this nation was united. Brad,
SPEAKER 07 :
It is a very somber, somber day. And I think part of it is, again, I’m just so sad that a young father at the age of 31 with two little kids would be assassinated. But I think that it’s actually bigger than that. I think the reason you and I are so about this is that I think I didn’t quite realize how under attack this American idea is. I know that probably seems really naive to say that. But I think I thought that we could still have this dialogue here. And the idea that somebody would be taken out because of dialogue is That’s really serious.
SPEAKER 18 :
Free speech is dangerous in the mind of the tyrant. Free speech. I mean, 250 years ago, 300 years ago, you didn’t do what we are doing now. We didn’t talk like this. We didn’t talk openly. You know, whether there was somebody listening or the community listening or authority listening, that was dangerous. And there’s a reason that our founders put this First Amendment and free speech, the idea that ideas have power. They’re stronger than bullets. They’re stronger than guns. They’re stronger than weapons. the tyranny that we face. And this American experiment will survive. The flag is still up here in the studio. The sun is still coming out. We are living our lives. I mean, traffic was a bear coming down. And yet, we know something’s changed. We know how important freedom is. We know how important that we need to do one thing, as I’ve always mentioned on this show. That changes the trajectory of what went on in 9-11, what happened yesterday. It’s amazing to me that more people are myopic. They’re living their lives and they don’t want to be bothered. I don’t know how they can’t be bothered today.
SPEAKER 07 :
I totally agree. I don’t know that we’re really going to get to your piece. We’re going to roll it out this weekend. Focus on your flame. It’s a really important piece. And so I guess we have to focus on our flame. Our flame is freedom.
SPEAKER 18 :
Our flame is freedom. being focused on the things that are important. Many years ago, I wrote a little piece on certainty. And you’ve got to focus on those things that you’re certain of, your family, your friends, your life, your pursuit of happiness, which is a self-discipline. And so many people want revenge right now. And that’s not the way to go.
SPEAKER 07 :
That’s not the way to go. Brad, we’re going to go to break. And we’re going to have just a short conversation because we had put together last year a little reenactment of the conversation between Todd Beamer and the ground from, I think that was Flight 93. So let’s go to break. And we talked with him yesterday. And for everything mortgages, great sponsor of the show, Lorne Levy.
SPEAKER 15 :
That’s 303-880-8881. Call now.
SPEAKER 25 :
It’s in the middle of summer and our AC just went out.
SPEAKER 17 :
Hey, don’t worry about it. I got a guy.
SPEAKER 25 :
The basement flooded and there’s the kitchen remodel.
SPEAKER 17 :
Forget about it. I got a guy.
SPEAKER 25 :
Honey, it’s hard to trust you when you use that voice.
SPEAKER 16 :
Sorry, I had something in my throat. It’s not just any guy. It’s Ben’s Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling. They bring craftsmanship, common sense, and integrity. Call or text at 303-995-1636, 303-995-1636.

SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, welcome back to The Kim Monson Show. Check out our website. That’s kimmonson.com. Thank you. I was trying to find how much Travis Parker, the Lakewood Planning Director, makes.
SPEAKER 1 :
$240,000.
SPEAKER 07 :
These people are being paid to plan away our lives. And people are paying attention. Brad Beck, we don’t have a lot of conversation time here. because we have this reenactment that we did of Todd Beamer, who was on Flight 93, young father, 33 years old, two little kids, a baby on the way. And so are you going to be able to stay for the second hour? We’re going to be talking about the Constitution with Cindy McFadden. But just kind of a wrap-up as we get into this reenactment here.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, it is a very difficult day, being 9-11 and then the passing of Charlie Kirk. And what happened at the school, the shooting. And I would just leave your listeners with the idea that we need more free speech. We need more protection of our Second Amendment and have more firearms to protect our youth. We should harden all our schools, our places of worship. And we should listen more to those who we disagree with. It’s a sad day when we can’t. And this is the United States of America, the greatest nation ever founded. And I’m proud to be an American. I’m proud to be here with you, Kim.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, Brad Beck, you are a dear friend. Liberty Toastmasters, you co-founded that. And again, you co-founded that so people could communicate their ideas. And how can people get more information about that?
SPEAKER 18 :
They can look us up online at libertytoastmasters.org. There’s our club, of course, in Denver and in Longmont. Longmont meets us Saturday from 10 to 12, and we invite folks to come in and visit and see what we do.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and this came in on the text line. It is indeed a somber day. And it’ll be very interesting to see if Jared Polis follows President Trump’s order to have flags flown at half-mast. So we’ve got so much going on here. So I want to go ahead and we’re going to get this teed up for you. This is something that Travis and Joe and I did last year regarding this. 9-11 and we just have done this in honor of that so let’s go ahead and Joe we have we have about a minute 40 before we want to get to that okay so with that I’ll go ahead and give you the end of the quote that I chose. It says, this is Thomas Paine. He said, no country can be called free which is governed by an absolute power and it matters not whether it’s an absolute royal power or an absolute legislative power as the consequences will be the same to the people. And so we must engage in this battle of ideas and we’re going to do that. And we’re going to, I’m all mixed up here, you guys. I’m sorry, Joe. I We’ve got about a minute left. Bless you, Joe. He’s like, oh, Kim. So, Brad, thank you. You’re going to stay for the next hour, and this will be good.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, it’s good to be in company of friends. It’s good to be in the company of people who can have solace with you and think about these things. And what’s our next step as a country?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, our next step is to continue to engage in the battle of ideas and certainly listen to people that we disagree with. But if their ideas are pushing tyranny and despotism, we must engage in that battle of ideas. And you’ve got to be armed with that. And that’s why we have all these experts that come on and we talk about all these amazing, about all these really important issues.
SPEAKER 18 :
And to get involved in the local issues is more important than the national issues. Because they’re, as you say, they’re well armed with all kinds of information you don’t have. And you have to scratch the surface and ask questions.
SPEAKER 07 :
Most definitely. And now we’re going to get to this reenactment that we did of these heroes on Flight 93.
SPEAKER 15 :
Hello, operator. Listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. We have a situation here. Our plane’s been hijacked. Can you understand me?
SPEAKER 07 :
I understand. Can the hijackers see you talking on the phone?
SPEAKER 15 :
No.
SPEAKER 07 :
Can you tell me how many hijackers are on the plane?
SPEAKER 15 :
There are three that we know of.
SPEAKER 07 :
Can you see any weapons or what kind of weapons do they have?
SPEAKER 15 :
Yes, they don’t have guns. They have knives. They took over the plane with knives. Do you mean like steak knives? No, these are razor knives, like box cutters. Can you tell me what country these people are from? No, I don’t know. They sound like they’re from the Mideast.
SPEAKER 07 :
Have they said what they want?
SPEAKER 15 :
Someone announced from the cockpit that there was a bomb on board. He said he was the captain and to stay in our seats and stay quiet. He said that they were meeting these men’s demands and returning to the airport. It was very broken English, and I’m telling you, it sounded fake. Okay, sir, please give me your name. My name is Todd Beamer.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, Todd, my name is Lisa. Do you know your flight number? If you can’t remember, it’s on your ticket.
SPEAKER 15 :
It’s United Flight 93.
SPEAKER 07 :
Now, Todd, can you try to tell me exactly what happened?
SPEAKER 15 :
Two of the hijackers were sitting in first class near the cockpit. A third one was sitting near the back of the coach section. The two up front got into the cockpit somehow. There was shouting. The third hijacker said he had a bomb. It looks like a bomb. He got it tied to his waist with a red belt of some kind.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay. So the door to the cockpit is open?
SPEAKER 15 :
No, the hijacker shut it behind them.
SPEAKER 07 :
Has anyone been injured?
SPEAKER 15 :
Yes, they killed one passenger sitting in first class. There’s been lots of shouting. We don’t know if the pilots are dead or alive. A flight attendant told me that the pilot and co-pilot had been forced from the cockpit and may have been wounded.
SPEAKER 07 :
Where is the third hijacker now, Todd?
SPEAKER 15 :
He’s near the back of the plane. They forced most of the passengers into first class. There are 14 of us here in the back, five are flight attendants. He hasn’t noticed that I slipped into the pantry to get the phone. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor in the rear of the plane. Oh, Jesus, help. Todd, are you okay? Tell me what’s happening. Hello? We’re going down. I think we’re going to crash. Wait a minute. No, we’re leveling off. We’re okay. I think we may be turning around. That’s it. We changed directions. Do you hear me? We’re flying east again.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, Todd, what’s going on with the other passengers?
SPEAKER 15 :
Everyone is really scared. A few passengers with cell phones have made calls to relatives. A guy, Jeremy, was talking to his wife just before the hijacking started. She told him that hijackers had crashed two planes into the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true?
SPEAKER 07 :
Todd, I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. The World Trade Center is gone. Both of the towers have been destroyed.
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, God. Help us.
SPEAKER 07 :
A third plane was taken over by terrorists. It crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Our country is under attack, and I’m afraid that your plane may be a part of the plan.
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, dear God. Dear God. Lisa, will you do something for me?
SPEAKER 07 :
I’ll try if I can. Yes.
SPEAKER 15 :
I want you to call my wife and kids for me and tell them what’s happened. Promise me you’ll call. I promise I’ll call. Our home number is 201-353-1073. You have to… Lisa? Lisa?
SPEAKER 07 :
I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.
SPEAKER 15 :
I’m going back to the group. If I can get back, I will.
SPEAKER 07 :
Todd, leave this line open. Are you still there? Hello, FBI. My name is Lisa Jefferson. I’m a telephone supervisor for GTE. I need to report a terrorist hijacking of United Airlines Flight 93. Yes, I’ll hold. And then the agent there is Goodwin. She says, hello, this is Agent Goodwin. I understand you have a hijacking situation. Lisa responds, yes, sir, I’ve been talking with a passenger, a Todd Beamer, on Flight 93, who managed to get to an air phone unnoticed. And good when they go on and talk about the flight. Lisa explains the flight left Newark, New Jersey at 8 a.m., departing for San Francisco. The hijackers took over the plane shortly after takeoff, and several minutes later, the plane changed course. It is now flying east. And then Goodwin says, Miss Jefferson, I need to talk to someone aboard that plane. Can you get me through to the plane’s phone now? And Lisa responds, I still have that line open, sir. I can patch you through on a conference call. Hold a moment.
SPEAKER 15 :
Hello, Lisa. Lisa, are you there?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes, I’m here, Todd. I made a call to the FBI, and Agent Goodwin is on the line and will be talking to you as well.
SPEAKER 15 :
The others all know this isn’t your normal hijack, and Jeremy called his wife again on his cell phone. She told him more about the World Trade Center and all.
SPEAKER 07 :
And then Agent Goodwin responds, hello, Todd, this is Agent Goodwin with the FBI. We have been monitoring your flight. Your plane is on course for Washington, D.C. These terrorists sent two planes into the World Trade Center and one plane into the Pentagon. Our best guess is that they plan to fly your plane into either the White House or the United States Capitol building.
SPEAKER 15 :
I understand. Hold on. I’ll be back.
SPEAKER 07 :
Mr. Goodwin, how much time do you have before they get to Washington? Goodwin responds, not long, ma’am. They’re changed course over Cleveland. They’re approaching Pittsburgh. Now Washington may be 20 minutes away.
SPEAKER 15 :
The plane seems to be changing directions just a little. It’s getting pretty rough up here. The plane’s flying real erratic. We’re not going to make it out of here. Listen to me. I want you to hear this. I’ve talked with the others. We’ve decided we would not be pawns in these hijackers’ suicidal plot. So, Todd, what are you going to do? We’ve hatched a plan. Four of us are going to rush the hijacker with the bomb. After we take him out, we’ll break into the cockpit. A stewardess is getting some boiling water to throw on the hijackers at the controls. We’ll get them. We’ll take them out. Lisa, will you do one last thing for me?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, what is it?
SPEAKER 15 :
Would you pray with me?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes. Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
SPEAKER 05 :
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
SPEAKER 06 :
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
SPEAKER 07 :
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me through the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for thou art with me God help me Jesus help me are you guys ready let’s roll And my friends, that is the transcript of Flight 93. Todd Beamer got on that flight that morning, thought he was going to San Francisco. Just a young engineer and three little children lost their father that day. But we must never forget…
SPEAKER 03 :
like a new moon rising fierce through the rain and lightning wandering out into this great unknown and i don’t want no one to cry but tell them if i don’t survive i was born

It’s the Kim Monson Show. Analyzing the most important stories.
Indeed, let’s have a conversation, and welcome to the Kim Monson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You’re each treasured, you’re valued, you have purpose. Today, strive for excellence, take care of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your body. My friends, we were made for this moment in history. Thank you to the team. That’s Producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Teresa, Amanda, and all the people here at Crawford Broadcasting. A very somber day, Producer Joe.
SPEAKER 26 :
Yes, indeed, Kim. Good Wednesday to you. Is it Wednesday or is it Thursday? Thursday, my bad.
SPEAKER 07 :
You were just testing me to see if I knew which day it was. It’s 9-11. In studio with me is my dear friend, co-founder of Liberty Toastmasters, engaging in the battle of ideas on a regular basis, and that is Brad Beck.
SPEAKER 18 :
I’d say good morning, but it’s a hard morning, Kim. It’s good to be with friends, though.
SPEAKER 07 :
It is good to be with friends. So thanks for being here.
SPEAKER 18 :
My pleasure.
SPEAKER 07 :
And very pleased to have in studio with us Cindy McFadden. And Cindy, I met your husband, Rick. I think it was at Cooper’s Troopers, I think. Yes, I think it was. Yeah. And in fact, he’s sitting over here in the corner so we can talk about him. He doesn’t have his ears on. But when I say ears, I mean the ears. The headphones here. But you have created, it’s very timely, you’ve created something regarding the Constitution flashcards. Yes. And of course, Constitution Day is September 17th. And this little box here of cards, our Constitution is under attack right now.
SPEAKER 21 :
It really is. I mean, yesterday was very evident of that. People, Charlie Kirk wanted to talk about the Constitution, and he was a patriot. And he was assassinated for that. And it makes you really sad.
SPEAKER 07 :
It does make you very sad. And so that’s why we need to know this Constitution. Absolutely. So many people don’t. And, of course, the radical activist progressives have been working for years calling it a living Constitution, where it’s a document really for the ages. It really is. And so we’re going to talk about that later. Several things. I had chosen the word of the day today as courage. C-O-U-R-A-G-E. It’s the state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution, and bravery. And our quote of the day, Brad, is from Thomas Paine. This is from The Crisis, number one, in 1776. And he was born in 1737. He died in 1809. He was an English-born American founding father, French revolutionary, inventor, political philosopher, and statesman. And he authored Common Sense in 1776 and The American Crisis in 1776 through 1783. They were pamphlets at the start of the American Revolution. And he said this, I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm and whose conscience approves his conduct will pursue his principles unto death.
SPEAKER 18 :
These founders had fortitude, courage, as a virtue that is something lacking today. And I think Charlie Kirk said, exemplified courage, fortitude, because he would go into college campuses and speak his heart, talk about his faith, talk about his belief in the American experiment. And he would do it with joy. And he’d love the engagement. So courage is an apt word for the day.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and you met him, you said, in 2018. And I also interviewed him when he was just beginning to start. And I still was very green in the radio world. And I… I think that I remember this, is that he said that he had wanted to get into one of the military academies, and he did not. He was not accepted. So he said, so I think that I’m supposed to do this. I’m going to start this group that we can talk with young people. And Cindy, God has a funny way of – he had shut this door for Charlie Crick and opened up this door that – my understanding is there’s – Turning Point is on – I thought I read 3,500 different campuses. Is that possible?
SPEAKER 18 :
I’m sure of that in high schools. In high schools as well. In chapters in high schools, yes.
SPEAKER 21 :
And so what a difference he made, Cindy. He really did. He was, I mean, courage. Talk about courage. And he went out and he tried to express why we need to understand our Constitution and why kids today are lacking in that area. And he really tried to help them learn about their country and be able to express their ideas civilly, as he did. And so I came up with an idea. My idea is I want every American to understand their Constitution. Our Constitution is incredible. And I say that because it has endured for 238 years. 238 years, our Constitution. The average written Constitution in the world is about 19 years. So to think that ours has endured that long. And so many people don’t know what’s in it. And I think part of that is, you know, how many of us have been handed a pamphlet, you know, the little pocket constitution? Have you sat down to read it? It’s 18th century and written. I mean, you can understand it. A modern English speaker can understand the constitution. But it’s written… you know archaically a little bit and so it’s a little tedious and boring to read so people don’t read it i’m sure kids have it a class in college or high school to learn the constitution but again a textbook is just tedious and boring and so i came up with an idea because i’m i’m an educator and i taught public school for many years and then i home taught my own And I found flashcards were an amazing way to start every lesson. So we’d take the first five minutes of a history class, say, and I would use flashcards to go over what the kids had learned. And I realized my kids were retaining the information. And they love, you know, ask a question, they give an answer. Ask another, they give an answer. That’s basically what these Constitution cards are. They go from the preamble. I have a little introduction about the Constitution, when it was written, where, who drafted it, and it goes all the way through all seven articles and all 27 amendments. It’s just question and answer.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, we’re going to continue the discussion on that. September 17th is Constitution Day, and Grand Lake U.S. Constitution Week is kicking off next Monday. And the initial speaker will be Rob Nadelson. He was on the show yesterday. And he has written the book, The Original Constitution, what it actually said and meant. And his initial or his subject is going to be Ancient Rome and the Constitution. It’s going to be a great week. The main event will be on the 20th with a Parade Down event. Grand Avenue, and then I have the honor of being the master of ceremonies. And there will be a lot of things going on. As long as the weather’s good, they plan a flyover. Keynote speaker is Jonathan Turley. That evening, fireworks over Grand Lake. To get all of the speakers, all of the information, our own Alan Thomas is going to be presenting on Friday night. I love this. He’s a young guy as well. Learning New Things from an Old Book, What the Federalist Papers Reveal About the Constitution in Life. Brad, that’s going to be great.
SPEAKER 18 :
It will be, yeah. Alan’s an incredible young man.
SPEAKER 07 :
He is. And so we’re going to go to break. When we come back, we’ll be talking, I want to talk with Karen Levine, one of our great sponsors. Thank you, Kim. Good to see you.
SPEAKER 07 :
And Cindy McFadden is in studio as well. Great to have you. Thank you for having me. And on the line is my dear friend, and that is Karen Levine. Karen, welcome to the show. Good morning, Kim and Brad, and I think it was Cindy. Yes. And it was good to see you last night, Karen Levine. And as I was walking into the studio, it seems like you and I, we’ve been friends for a long time. And it seems to me, you know what, I was thinking it was 9-11, but it wasn’t. It was the day of the Columbine shootings. I think that was back when I was in the clothing business, and I think that we had a fitting at the tailor. And I just remember you and I having a conversation on that day. So you and I have been friends a long time, and it seems like these big days, you and I are always in connection.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah. Yeah, and it is interesting that I believe that day I was leaving my Bible study, my community Bible study, back the day of Columbine. And yesterday we were sitting in our leaders council at community Bible study, and I hadn’t even… thought about the commonality of you and i getting connected um on those days and when you started the conversation i’m like oh we were together that day and um yeah it’s the tragedies of yesterday and um you know they’re heartbreaking and joe and i were just talking about the value of life and and it used to be we valued our own life so greatly. And that doesn’t seem to have value in today’s society, which is sad.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, it is. And then the shooting at Evergreen High School, that’s your high school.
SPEAKER 10 :
It is. That is my alma mater. And, you know, that’s the common statements made during these kind of things is that’s not supposed to happen in my community. It’s not supposed to happen in anybody’s community. But, yeah, that was hard. And that was the first news that I received yesterday. And then Charlie Kirk’s assassination happened after that. And it made, as you said, it was a very somber day.
SPEAKER 07 :
It is a very somber day. So life does must go on and buying and selling homes must go on. And if people what’s your phone number so that when people get recovered here, I know we’re all just still just kind of struggling to stay on task here. But what’s your phone number when people are ready to talk about buying or selling a home, Karen Levine?
SPEAKER 10 :
the number to call is 303-877-7516 and home ownership is one of those dreams that we’re working hard to protect we being the realtor association and myself and it’s a dream that helps to build generational wealth and and has done that for decades and there is opportunity in the marketplace I’m sure Lauren talked yesterday that interest rates have improved some, which makes your buying power bigger. And I have some lovely new homes on the market. So call me and come check them out.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay. And again, that number is 303-877-7516. Karen Levine, thank you so much.
SPEAKER 10 :
You’re welcome, and thank you for what you do, Kim.
SPEAKER 07 :
Absolutely, and also another thank you out to Laramie Energy for their gold sponsorship of the show because it’s reliable, efficient, affordable, and abundant power from oil, natural gas, and coal that powers our lives, fuels our hopes and dreams, and empowers us to change our own personal climate. In studio with me is Brad Beck. We’re going to maybe try to do a little bit of stump Brad Beck here.
SPEAKER 20 :
That would be easy.
SPEAKER 07 :
Not normally, but we’re not quite on our game today, so we’ll see. And Cindy McFadden is in studio, and she has put together some flashcards on the Constitution. And you can order this by going to www.learnitquick.us. And so, Cindy, this is really awesome. And your story, you shared a little bit of your story with me. Yes. Why don’t you share that? Because my dad always said, in America, anything is possible. And that’s been your story.
SPEAKER 21 :
It has been my story. I grew up in a family of six kids. My parents divorced when I was 11. My father ended up homeless. He was a raging alcoholic and He got addicted to some drugs. And he would have been 99 years old this November 10th. So this was years ago. And he was homeless and spent years on the streets. And my mom had her own issues with some mental health issues. And she did the best she could to raise six kids. She never drove a car. And, you know… By all intents and purposes, I should have been in that, you know, I should have married somebody who wasn’t great. But I knew that America is fantastic and that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I had no handouts. I worked my tail off to get through college. And I became a teacher and enjoyed that so much. And then I home taught my own kids. And I think if my parents were living today, they’d be shocked that I’m sitting here on a radio show having come so far. And I think it’s because our country, our Constitution provides freedom and the pursuit of happiness for anyone who wants to work hard and who’s determined to do so. And so that’s what I did. And I’ve raised two kids, both college educated. My father had a sixth grade education and my mom had an 11th grade education. My dad was illiterate. He could write his name and that was about it. And so to have children in one generation to come this far is amazing. And so. I just think it’s because I was born in the greatest country in the world, and I’m passionate about it. And this is my passion project, that everyone is able to learn about the Constitution in a fun and easy way. So these cards are great for… Elementary, third grade, all the way to adulthood. Anyone can use them. They’re color-coded, and they’re just a simple question and answer. A few a day, and you’ll know the Constitution in a few months. And they’re fun.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and people can get this at learnitquick.us. You said that this is going to be on sale.
SPEAKER 21 :
Where at in Washington? In the National Archives in Washington, D.C., where the Constitution is on display. So I’m super excited about that. Isn’t that great? I can’t believe it. Again, I think my parents would just fall over.
SPEAKER 07 :
Brad, this is really the story of America.
SPEAKER 18 :
It really is. And we’re unique in that we’ve got a Constitution that’s lasted as long as it has and still protects our individual rights. That’s the key.
SPEAKER 21 :
It really is.
SPEAKER 18 :
It’s the playbook that protects the Declaration that defines where our rights come from.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I talked about this on the show the other day. Now I need to get to this. And that is I was at a meeting the other night in North Cherry Creek. And it was interesting. There was almost 100 people there. And North Cherry Creek is a very well-to-do area. And there is being proposed something called a GID. It’s a General Improvement District. And my friend of mine, who’s very intelligent, she lives there and she delved into it and she understands it. But Brad, you’re going this is unbelievable. And this is so against the Constitution, Cindy, is that this kid would be governed by a board that would be appointed by either, I think, Denver City Council or the mayor. And so they’re unelected. So they’re unaccountable to the people. And the Cherry Creek North would have 14% representation on this board, but they would be providing 52 or 57% of the revenues. Don’t you think that might be a problem? But guess what this – with the power of this GID would – and again, unaccountable, unelected people – could levy and collect taxes based on the value of the property, to have perpetual existence, to borrow money and incur debt, to provide services outside the boundaries of the district, to exercise the power of eminent domain, to fix rates, tolls, or charges for services or facilities – Furnished by the district and can place a lien on your property for non-payment. Okay, Cindy, we’ll come to you in a minute. She’s aghast at that. Can you believe that, Brad? I can.
SPEAKER 18 :
And unfortunately, people are not aware of these things and they don’t show up and they get passed. And the citizens are the sovereigns. They have the rights and the powers. not an unelected bureaucrat. So I would encourage all those folks in that particular neighborhood and area to start writing letters and start showing up because otherwise their rights will be taken from them.
SPEAKER 07 :
And it’s important to shed light on this because there could be a GID coming to your community as well. Cindy, as I read this, you realize this is opposite of our Constitution.
SPEAKER 21 :
Absolutely opposite. And I think the issue is… People don’t know their rights. An Annenberg Constitution Day civic survey just a few years ago showed that many Americans cannot name the guaranteed rights in the First Amendment. They have no idea. and and they don’t know the rest of the constitution you have to know more than the second amendment or you know there’s 27 amendments and people need to start reading their constitution and understanding it because what’s the easiest way to take people’s rights is for them not to know what rights they have in the beginning So everyone should know what the Constitution says because it is we the people. We’re in charge, and we don’t know what’s in the Constitution. Therefore, people can take our rights without us even knowing that they’re being taken.
SPEAKER 07 :
And it’s because in many ways, sometimes I wonder if we’re living on the fumes of freedom because we’re pretty – We’ve lived pretty amazing lives here. Absolutely. And I think a lot of people don’t understand how under attack that it is. Now, Cindy, before we go to break, explain this. This is color coded. So one, two, three, four, five, six. So where’s so I assume the amendments are here at the back. So how does this work?
SPEAKER 21 :
So I color-coded a card set. There’s about 200 cards. The purple set in the beginning is about the introduction. It tells where the Constitution was written, when it was written, when it was ratified. All the interesting things about the Constitution. And then the next three sets go over the three branches of government. You know, what the Congress is responsible for, what the executive branch is responsible for. The… the third one is the legislative judicial rather and the judicial tells what the courts are allowed to do and then the the last four uh articles so there’s seven articles total the last four in one set just explaining how the constitution be amended or ratified and then the last set is all the 27 amendments Interestingly enough, there are only 27 amendments. The first 10 Bill of Rights were added in 1791, and only 17 amendments have changed the Constitution in all that time. And it’s interesting that more than 11,000 amendments have been proposed, but only 17 since the Bill of Rights were added. So it’s difficult to change the Constitution. It’s a well-written document, and everyone should know what’s in it. One of our founding fathers, John Jay, had this quote.
SPEAKER 07 :
And he said, let’s see, every member of the state diligently to read and to study the Constitution of this country and teach the rising generation to be free, because by knowing their rights, they will sooner perceive when they are violated and be the better prepared to defend and assert. Right.
SPEAKER 21 :
And aren’t we there right now in our country?
SPEAKER 07 :
Aren’t we there right now? Before we go to break, let’s do a little, let’s see if we can stump Brad Beck. Okay, Brad Beck, here you go. First question. What was the governing document of the U.S. before the U.S. Constitution was written?
SPEAKER 18 :
The Articles of Confederation. Thanks for an easy one.
SPEAKER 07 :
Ding, ding, ding. Not everybody can get that, that’s for sure. We’re going to continue the discussion with Brad Beck and Cindy McFadden. All of these discussions happen, and now more than ever, the work that the Second Syndicate is doing here in Colorado. to be preemptive and proactive, to protect our rights, to keep and bear firearms, to protect ourselves. The thing with Charlie Kirk yesterday is the bad guy had a firearm. And the only way to stop a bad guy with a firearm is a good guy with a firearm. And that is why we have the Second Amendment. And I so appreciate the work of the Second Syndicate.
SPEAKER 27 :
The Second Amendment was established to ensure that all individuals have the right to resist oppression, stand firm against government overreach, and protect our ability to defend ourselves, our families, and our freedoms. Today, that right is under relentless attack in Colorado. In studio with me is Brad Beck and Cindy McFadden, who’s created flashcards on the Constitution. So ding, ding, ding, Brad Beck. Next one. Who wrote the Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution?
SPEAKER 18 :
James Madison.
SPEAKER 07 :
He’s pretty good, Cindy. He is good. He is good. He’s pretty good. This is my understanding. So I was back in Virginia a couple of years ago and went to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s home. And then we went to… up here yep yep uh and that is james madison’s home and uh james monroe his property is right right next to thomas and i didn’t go there and so i have to go back but i remember standing in james madison’s study he’s known as the father of the constitution and thinking oh my gosh You know, it just was amazing to me. But what I found, this is what I’ve heard, Cindy, and you’ve put together these great flashcards. You can buy them at learnitquick.us. And that is that my understanding is there were a lot of states that did not want to ratify the Constitution without a Bill of Rights. Right. Which that’s the first 10 amendments to the Constitution. And Madison gave them his word. Yes. He said, if you ratify, we’ll get a Bill of Rights. That’s right. What politician, or if you were listening yesterday, Snallygoster, would you trust these days to do that? I find it amazing that they trusted him to do that. Right.
SPEAKER 21 :
right he was he was very influential he did a lot at the constitutional convention they it was a four-month period from may to september when they were writing the constitution and every ev all 13 colonies well the 12 sent delegates and james madison was one of the delegates rhode island didn’t send delegates to the constitutional convention But James Madison took incredible notes and kept track of everything that was going on at the convention. And he had a lot of input in what was being put into the Constitution. He and Alexander Hamilton and George Washington and Ben Franklin, they were all there and they were discussing what should be in it. And there was a lot of disagreement about the individual rights. People were worried about the trampling of the individual rights. And he had promised, if we ratify this Constitution, because it’s a good Constitution, I will add the Bill of Rights. And he did in 1791. So the Constitution was written in 87, signed. And then it was ratified in 88 and went into effect in 89. It surpassed the Articles of Confederation. And then in 1791, he added those Bill of Rights.
SPEAKER 07 :
So, Cindy, you’re probably having a lot of conversations with people out there regarding the Constitution.
SPEAKER 21 :
What’s that look like these days? It’s interesting. I’ve had a lot of wonderful feedback on the cards. People are excited, and I’m in my second printing. But I’ve had a few people say to me, it’s funny, they’ll say, well, you should send those to Donald Trump. And my reaction, you know, I don’t want to be rude, but I want to say, do you know enough about our Constitution to make that statement? Do you know the Constitution? Do you know that he’s doing things against the Constitution? I think we all need to take a step back and really study the Constitution so that we know what’s in it so we can make those comments with confidence. Yeah.
SPEAKER 07 :
I could see Brad Beck saying something like this, or maybe Charlie Kirk, you might say, so what exactly are you concerned about with Donald Trump and the Constitution? I think that could be a place, because you’re saying, you said in the first hour, we need to have these conversations, Brad.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, just think about under the Gold Dome here in Colorado. There’s over 600 bills every year passed. I was at an event last night with a candidate who announced he’s running for the HD. House District. And we’ve had many conversations. And I said, are we going to run another bill and get more people to run bills to take away some of these bills so we have our rights back in place? And even though it wouldn’t be a lot, it sends a message. We don’t need more laws. We need the laws in force that are important to run a small government. And the rest is up to the people. And we should be interacting and talking and discussing. But I don’t need more laws to break every year. And I think at all levels, whether it’s at the town level, the county level, at the state level, and at the federal level, there are too many laws. And we don’t know them. And we don’t need them. Self-regulating individuals who respect and trust their fellow citizens don’t need more laws.
SPEAKER 21 :
Exactly. Yeah, I agree with that. So, Cindy, how long did it take for you to put this together? It’s so funny because… My son’s 24, and this idea started when he was 11. I started making flashcards for all kinds of subjects, and he loved history. So he actually took college courses at 14 and passed American Government I, American History I, American History II, American Government, and Western Civ. He loved history, and this was his favorite part of the history lesson, flashcards that I would make about things he had learned previously. And I thought, gosh, I should do that. He was sitting next to me on the sofa and we were watching a man on the street news segment. And the college age kids couldn’t answer the question. It’s embarrassing. And he was sitting there at 11, just rattling off the answers. And it dawned on me that I think it was the flashcards because it makes it fun. You know, when someone knows something, you can have a better conversation about things. And I think that’s what’s happening in our country. People really don’t know what the Constitution says, and they can’t have a civil conversation, so there’s a lot of anger and political angst over it. And I think if people would take time and learn it, Things would change.
SPEAKER 07 :
I think you’re absolutely right. So a couple of things I wanted to mention. And Rick McFadden is in the studio, and he is a Marine. He is. And I think I met him through Cooper’s Troopers as well. Again, we’re talking about him. He’s not on here. But I think that’s right, isn’t it, Rick? That’s right. Yeah, and I haven’t been up to Cooper’s Troopers for a while, and I really miss them. And it’s a group of Marines that meet up and have lunch once a month, but really a great group. That’s how I met Paula Sarles and got involved with the U.S. MC Memorial Foundation. Today, I would say, on this somber day, I think I’m making a contribution to both the U.S. MC Memorial Foundation and the Center for American Values, which is located in Pueblo, would be a great way to say thank you. And so we’re going to go to break. And when we come back, we’re going to continue the conversation with Brad Beck and Cindy McFadden.

We’re talking about the Constitution here. Cindy McFadden is in studio with her Constitution flashcards. You can buy them at LearnItQuick.us. Playing stump, Brad Beck. Okay, Brad. What are the three branches of government established by the Constitution?
SPEAKER 18 :
So the legislative, the executive, and the judicial. Okay.
SPEAKER 07 :
Cindy, he’s doing really well. He’s really good. Yeah. That’s wonderful. So we’re going to, at the end of the show, play another reenactment that we did of Flight 93. How would you like to wrap this up, Cindy?
SPEAKER 21 :
Oh, gosh. I just think the Constitution is an amazing document. Again, it’s lasted 238 years. This coming July 4th, our country will be 250 years old. And I think it’s the most remarkable country on earth. And my flashcards are not partisan. They’re just the facts about the Constitution. Everyone can learn the Constitution pretty easy. It’s a question and answer format. I think if you’re a grandparent and you want a gift for your grandchildren, it’s perfect. Elementary to high school. These are wonderful. And adults that don’t know the Constitution, you can learn it pretty quick at LearnItQuick. I love it.
SPEAKER 07 :
So LearnItQuick.us. And Brad Beck, a somber day, but hopeful. We’ve got this document that we need to, and we take an oath to protect it. And it is that time now.
SPEAKER 18 :
It really is. And we need to think about all the things we can do as individuals to protect the rights that are given to us, not by government, by our creator. And whether you believe in a higher power or not, there’s something in the human psyche that says we’re yearning to be free. And so in honor of Charlie Kirk, I would say go out and have more conversations and be true to yourself, but defend and protect our rights.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and the founders were willing to put their lives on the line for this American idea, this idea that all men are created equal. And so when you have a government that’s trying to give one entity special rights, you cannot have equal rights when you have special rights. And putting people into groups and then trying to pit those groups against each other is really Marxism heading towards communism. And so when people… are trying to put people into groups instead of recognizing the uniqueness and the sanctity of the individual, we have to say no to that. Because this country was founded on these rights of individuals, of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. And that pursuit of happiness is also being able to own property. And Brad, you always so eloquently say it. It’s not just tangible property, but it’s what you think and create.
SPEAKER 18 :
incredible things and if you’re curious and you create things that are self-fulfilling and they help other people in the sense that they recognize they have equal natural rights we win and until people are open to that idea thinking that security is more important than our freedoms we have to keep talking and convincing our fellow neighbors that they have the rights
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, and the thing is, is what government giveth, government can taketh away. Just ask all those people that are losing their jobs down at the city and county of Denver because of very terrible policies. Cindy McFadden, it’s great having you here. Thank you. Thank you for having me. And you can get these cards by going to learnitquick.us. And Brad Beck, it’s always great to have you in on this somber day to see your, it wasn’t, neither of ours was really smiling faces, but we’ve got work to do.
SPEAKER 18 :
We’ll all get through this, and we say God bless America.
SPEAKER 07 :
And God bless Charlie Kirk. Pray for his family. Pray for Turning Point USA. And pray that we continue to have these discussions. And this is 9-11, and so we are going to… I am all mixed up again. How can that be? I was going to throw it over to Joe, and he’s saying in my ear, it’s a minute 15. So with that, I’ll give our end of the show quote. How’s that? And that’s from Thomas Paine. He said this. No country can be called free, which is governed by an absolute power. And it matters not whether it can be an absolute royal power or an absolute legislative power, which is what we’re seeing today. As the consequences will be the same to the people. And that legislative power could also be what we’re seeing at the local level. And so we’ve got to pay attention to what is happening at the local level as well. And my friends today, be grateful. Read great books. Think good thoughts. Listen to beautiful music. Communicate and listen well. Live honestly and authentically. Strive for high ideals. And like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. You’re not alone. God bless you. God bless America, and we’re going to do this reenactment of Todd Beamer, young father, 33 years old, two little kids at home, wife pregnant with their third child, and what happened on Flight 93 after they figured out what was going down. And he got on an airplane thinking he was going to San Francisco for business and he’d be back shortly. That was not the case. I find the story of Todd Beamer so, so amazing. And so we decided that we’re going to reenact this so that you can remember what that conversation was like. I think we all remember the stories from 9-11, but one of the most powerful stories is the story of Todd Beamer. And he was just a young guy. He was born in 1968, and he died on December 11, 2001. He was an American passenger aboard United Airlines Flight 93. And that was hijacked, and it crashed during these attacks in 2001. And he was one of the passengers who attempted to regain control of the aircraft from the hijackers. And there is a phone call. There’s a transcript of a phone call that he made from the plane. And so one of my colleagues, Travis Pander, and I are going to to reenact this phone call. And so let’s go ahead.
SPEAKER 07 :
Do you mean like steak knives?
SPEAKER 15 :
No, these are razor knives, like box cutters.
SPEAKER 07 :
Can you tell me what country these people are from?
SPEAKER 15 :
No, I don’t know. They sound like they’re from the Mideast.
SPEAKER 07 :
Have they said what they want?
SPEAKER 15 :
Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb on board.
No, the hijackers shut it behind them.
SPEAKER 07 :
Todd, are you OK? Tell me what’s happening.
SPEAKER 15 :
Hello? We’re going down. I think we’re going to crash. Wait. Wait a minute. No, we’re leveling off. We’re OK. I think we may be turning around. That’s it. We changed directions. Do you hear me? We’re flying east again.
SPEAKER 07 :
Okay, Todd, what’s going on with the other passengers?
SPEAKER 15 :
Everyone was really scared.
You have the same name as my wife, Lisa. We’ve been married 10 years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys, David, he’s three, and Andrew, he’s one. Tell them that their daddy loves them and he’s so proud of them. Our baby’s due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound, it was great. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy. Lisa?
SPEAKER 07 :
I’ll tell them, I promise, Todd.
Then the agent there is Goodwin. She says, Hello, this is Agent Goodwin. I understand you have a hijacking situation. Lisa responds, Yes, sir. I’ve been talking with a passenger, a Todd Beamer, on Flight 93 who managed to get to an air phone unnoticed. And Goodwin, they go on and talk about the flight. Lisa explains the flight left Newark, New Jersey at 8 a.m. departing for San Francisco. The hijackers took over the plane shortly after takeoff, and several minutes later, the plane changed course. It is now flying east. And then Goodwin says, Ms. Jefferson, I need to talk to someone aboard that plane.
The others all know this isn’t your normal hijacking. Jeremy called his wife again on his cell phone. She told him more about the World Trade Center and all.
SPEAKER 07 :
And then Agent Goodwin responds, Hello, Todd. This is Agent Goodwin with the FBI.
SPEAKER 04 :
So, Todd, what are you going to do?
SPEAKER 15 :
We’ve had a plan. Four of us are going to rush the hijacker with the bomb. After we take him out, we’ll break into the cockpit. A stewardess is getting some boiling water to throw on the hijackers at the controls. We’ll get them. We’ll take them out. Lethal, will you do one last thing for me?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes, what is it?
SPEAKER 15 :
Would you pray with me?
SPEAKER 07 :
Yes, our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
SPEAKER 05 :
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
SPEAKER 06 :
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
SPEAKER 07 :
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me through paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.
SPEAKER 15 :
God help me. Jesus help me. Are you guys ready? Let’s roll. Let’s roll. Let’s roll. Let’s roll.
SPEAKER 07 :
And my friends, that is the transcript of Flight 93. Todd Beamer got on that flight that morning, thought he was going to San Francisco. Just a young engineer and three little children lost their father that day. But we must never forget.
SPEAKER 03 :
Young like a new moon rising fierce through the rain and lightning wandering out into this great unknown. And I don’t want no one to cry, but tell them if I don’t survive, I was born.
