SPEAKER 03 :
It’s really been remarkable to watch how quickly the Democrats went from their election night euphoria to sheer rage as this shutdown deal is advancing. Isn’t it kind of alarming? to recognize finally that the Democrats really do want to hurt the American people as deeply as possible? Do you realize that? You’re letting that just soak that in for a moment. One of the two political parties in America wants to hurt as many Americans as possible. Because they think if we hurt Americans, somehow we’re getting back at Donald Trump. They’re punishing Americans for voting for Donald Trump. And the way they’re doing it is to try to inflict as much pain as possible. No paychecks, no food stamps, just chaos and destruction. The damage, the destruction, the misery is the point. That’s their point. That’s why they do what they do. And I don’t want to admit that. I know a lot of Democrats. I was married to one. But the misery… is intentional. You know, we’ve been talking about this for years. If you’ve got no cash bail policies and laws in communities all over America where people commit violent acts of crime and then they get right out on the street to recommit and reoffend, that’s got to be on purpose. The crime, the needles, the hypodermic needles in the streets of San Francisco… The homeless, aggressive homeless people who are slashing innocent passers-by. The shoplifters who march out of a drugstore or a pharmacy with bag loads of free stuff that they’ve stolen. The people hopping over the turnstiles at the New York City subway. I saw one again yesterday. It was a couple, a young couple in their 20s. Asian. just hopped right over the turnstiles. And to watch them be mad that the government is reopening is astounding. Look at these headlines over on Mediaite. Oh, F off. Democrats rage at the pathetic shutdown betrayal. These are angry people. Here’s Politico. Headline, Schumer’s shutdown. A surrender. It sends the left into a rage. Liberals are… Look at this headline. Now, snap. Those are food stamps, right? President Trump feels very strongly able-bodied people who can work shouldn’t be on food stamps. And I have a feeling… A lot of us have a suspicion that there are plenty of able-bodied people who don’t want to work, but who eat off of their SNAP benefits. Now, that doesn’t mean all. It doesn’t mean most. But we all know there are people who game the system. Look at this headline. Ed Morrissey wrote about it over at Hot Air. Liberals are angry and horrified that snap benefits are being restored. Liberals are angry and horrified that snap benefits are being restored. Wow. I guess that’s the point, huh? I guess that’s the moral of the story. All they care about is power. All they care about is running, telling you how to live your life. And if they’re not telling you, if you try to live your own life, they want to hurt you. Period. 800-655-MIKE. 800-655-6453. 11 minutes past the hour. We welcome you aboard. We’ve got a lot to cover this hour. A lot of breaking news. I want to break down President Trump’s conversation with Laura Ingraham last night, a conversation that the Daily Beast calls a fiery, contentious exchange. I didn’t think there was anything contentious about it. She wanted to know if the 50-year mortgage idea that he has is such a good idea. And a lot of people are wondering about that. You know, we are at a place where it’s okay to question or even criticize the President of the United States. It doesn’t mean you’re not MAGA. It doesn’t mean you’re not pro-Trump. It doesn’t mean you don’t appreciate his policies. Marjorie Taylor Greene is experiencing the wrath of a lot on MAGA because she dares question some of the things that are being put forth. And you know what? I think we’ve got to take a breath here and recognize it’s okay for all of us to talk to one another, with one another. and try to figure out what’s going on. That’s okay. It’s not the end of the world. I don’t think Trump minds. Even what he said about Marjorie Taylor Greene yesterday. He was actually pretty diplomatic in his response. You know, President Trump can go scorched earth on somebody if he wants to. He didn’t go scorched earth on her. Here’s what he said.
SPEAKER 09 :
She’s a nice woman, but I don’t know what happened. She’s lost her way, I think. But I have to view the presidency as a worldwide situation, not locally. I mean, we could have a world that’s on fire where wars come to our shores very easily if you had a bad president. We had a horrible president and we ended up with Russia, Ukraine, and we ended up with other disasters, too. Don’t forget, I put out eight wars, nine to come. I think I’ll get the other one taken care of. But I put out eight wars. And look at the damage that Russia, Ukraine has done to us as a country. I mean, we spent $350 billion. We’re not spending any money anymore. Now they pay us through NATO. You know, I got NATO to go from 2% to 5%. Well, that’s very important. When you’re president, you really sort of have to watch over the world because you’re going to be dragged into it. Otherwise, you’re going to be dragged into a world war. I think if I weren’t president, first of all, that war would have never happened if I was president. And if I weren’t president, that war could have led to World War Three. It won’t. It’s not going to anymore. But when I first got in, I said, wow, this situation could lead to World War III. And I got NATO together. I got everybody together. But with all of that, I passed a great, big, beautiful bill, which is the biggest tax cuts in the history of our country. So when somebody like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who’s now catering to the other side, I don’t know what, you know, I guess she’s got some kind of an act going, but I’m surprised at her. But when somebody like Marjorie goes over and starts making statements like that, it shows she doesn’t know.
SPEAKER 03 :
Marjorie Taylor Greene’s point is America first means America first. And that message, I think, lands with a lot of people. But on the other hand, I would argue President Trump’s position is correct. America first, but not America only. We can do more than one thing. We can focus on domestic issues, but we also have to make sure we got our eyes wide open regarding China, North Korea. All of our adversaries. So it’s an interesting time. But how about that headline? Liberals are angry and horrified that SNAP benefits are being restored. Don’t you agree with me that the pain and the cruelty and the misery and the power, the control, that’s all the Democrats are worried about? and they truly don’t care about the American people, or am I overstating it? Let’s see what you think. I’m going to put your voice front and center. 800-655-MIKE. We had a bunch of callers who called a whole bunch of times, and I asked Alex to look for some newer calls. Let’s get some first-time callers on the show today. Give me your take on… The Democrats’ response to the government reopening again. Do you agree with me that the pain and the damage and the destruction is their point? That is their desire. That’s their attention, intention. Do you agree or not? Let’s find out. Let’s make it a first-time caller segment. Call me for the first time. I want to meet you here on the Mike Gallagher Show. 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. SPEAKER 03 :
Well, let’s see. Where are we on this Tuesday, November 11th, 2025? New Yorkers who voted for Zoran Mamdani are horrified to learn that he’s not going to be able to deliver on any of his key campaign promises. The governor there, Kathy Hochul, has already shut all that down. There won’t be free buses. There’s not going to be a rent freeze. They can’t afford that. There’s not going to be more taxes placed on higher earners. So, you know, New Yorkers are starting to already feel a sense of buyer’s remorse. Democrats are livid that the shutdown is coming to an end. I guess they want poor people to suffer. Apparently they do want people to go without a paycheck because they want to inflict as much damage and pain and misery upon Trump-voting Americans as possible. I’m convinced that’s what’s behind it all. I’m absolutely convinced. that that’s what is behind the Democrats’ rage right now. And they are raging. They want to get the pitchforks and the torches out and the tar and feather for Chuck Schumer. They’re mad at him. They’re mad at the seven Democrats and one Independent who finally said enough is enough. This nightmare is coming to an end, and the Democrats wanted to sustain the nightmare. The nightmare is ending, and the Democrats are mad about it. Let that sink in. Here’s the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson.
SPEAKER 01 :
It’s after 40 days of wandering in the wilderness and making the American people suffer needlessly, some Senate Democrats finally have stepped forward to end the pain. It appears to us this morning that our long national nightmare is finally coming to an end, and we’re grateful for that.
SPEAKER 03 :
And we should be grateful. We ought to be thankful to the eight members of the Democrat caucus willing to say enough. We can’t keep hurting the American people. And think about, of the entire Democrat caucus, it took seven Democrats and Angus King, the Independent, to end the madness. So there’s only eight of them in the entire Democrat side of the aisle. Only eight who believe it’s wrong to punish the American people with the obvious Democrat shutdown. All this time, the game’s played. Oh, it’s Trump’s shutdown. They’re mad that the SNAP benefits are coming back. The cruelty is the point. And I’m convinced, I’m becoming more and more convinced by every passing day that the fanaticism that we’re witnessing in the Democrat Party is becoming mainstream. Ever heard of Ro Khanna? There are some who want to believe Ro Khanna is some kind of a moderate, get-along, maybe sort of just a left-of-center Democrat. Ro Khanna, you know, he’s not so bad. Oh, really? He’s not so bad? Check him out yesterday talking to his buddy Don Lemon.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s mind boggling. It’s just people who are out of touch, who don’t understand the political moment that we’re in. Look, the good news is there’s a new generation of leaders. Zoran Mamdani won, Abigail Spanberger won, Mikey Sherrill won. There are people who get it. You know, someone jokingly, or maybe it was serious, described me as a backbencher calling for Schumer’s ouster. Some people who like me came to my defense saying, no, he’s not a backbencher. I said, no, the problem is those of us in the back need to get to the front. This party needs a change in the leadership.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, he’s a real moderate, all right. Yeah, Ro Khanna, he’s normal. Don’t trust anybody who tries to convince you that he’s a go-along, get-along kind of a Democrat. He’s not. And look, they think that’s the future of the party, that this crazed lunacy, the destruction, the political violence that they advocate. Turning Point had an event yesterday in Berkeley. Now, you know that’s not going to go well. Because Antifa showed up. They had all kinds of brawls and arrests and people with bloodied noses and all kinds of violence. Now, you know, it’s Berkeley and it’s Antifa. I’m not suggesting that Ro Khanna is going to go out and commit acts of violence. But when Democrats exhibit their rage at something that is good news for the United States of America, you’ve got to understand that. that we’re playing with a whole different kind of party than our father and mother’s Democrat party. And speaking of our fathers and mothers, I want to give a salute and a moment of gratitude to the veterans who we honor today. My mom and dad are both buried under military headstones, uh, because my mom and dad fell in love and, uh, while they were both serving our country in World War II. My dad was in the Navy. My mom was a wave. And both my parents served honorably. And they are both… They both have military tombstones. And I think about that a lot. I’ve been thinking about that a lot today. I’ve been thinking about my mom and dad. Look, I lost my dad when I was very young. I was 11. My mom died when I was 21. So, you know, I was obviously… a lot closer to my mom because of just the time that I had with my dad on Earth. But I’ve seen the pictures, and my cousin Paul has shared photos of my mom and dad in their full military regalia, their uniforms. And I hope you don’t mind me taking Veterans Day to heart today and thinking a lot about the so many people people just like my mom and dad who served our country. Happy Veterans Day to all of the veterans. Here’s Roger Marshall, incidentally. There’s this growing movement to get rid of the filibuster is building. And I want to share that with you. I really want to get into this because I’m becoming… I got a couple of weird thoughts. Not weird, but there’s some burning issues in my brain. I’m thinking about… The interesting path that Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is carving for herself and for the America First movement. And I’m thinking a lot about the growing desire by more and more politicians on the Republican side of the aisle to end the filibuster. Because believe me, we know what the Democrats would do with it. I want to share with you what Senator Roger Marshall from Kansas said about ending the filibuster. He’s another one who’s kind of come around on this issue, as have I. So we’re going to dive in on this Veterans Day, you and me together. I hope you join us. And I want Veterans Day to be a bunch of first-time callers. Can we make this a first-time caller show today? I don’t know. I don’t know. Eric’s encouraging it. I love first-time callers. Tell you what, if you’ve always wanted to call the show but you never have, make today your day. 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. Hope you join us. SPEAKER 03 :
I just posted a picture of the departure and arrival screen at Tampa International Airport. Got in yesterday a couple of hours late because of the big delays at LaGuardia leaving New York, but made it. Here we are back in the home base. We’ve got iguanas falling out of the sky because it’s cold here in Florida today. It’s chilly. And I love it. I’m in that spirit. I’m playing Christmas carols in the car like a dope, getting ready to put the Christmas tree up this weekend. I don’t know why I’m really feeling in the spirit. I’m in the spirit of the season. Maybe it’s because of the great week we’re having. I mean, last Tuesday was rough, wasn’t fun, but now the fun is beginning as the Democrats are melting down in a big way. They’re livid that the government shutdown is going to come to an end. They wanted to inflict as much damage and pain as humanly possible. Listen to Scott Jennings last night, our Salem colleague on CNN, pointing out that the Democrats are proving that this, one, was a Democrat shutdown, and two, they’re angry that the pain for hardworking Americans is about to end.
SPEAKER 02 :
Democrats are willing to make people suffer. And you heard Democrat after Democrat today say, well, we just couldn’t prolong the suffering. So they admit that their political tactics were designed to inflict suffering on the American people. We also learned about cynical politics in this.
SPEAKER 03 :
He’s right. The cynicism is at an all-time high on the part of the so-called moderates. Ro Khanna, oh my gosh. If I hear one more time what a moderate Ro Khanna is, he’s not a moderate. He’s an angry, far-left, partisan hack who went on Don Lemon’s show yesterday to call out Democrat Party leadership. In other words, people like Ro Khanna believe… that it’s a failure of leadership on the Democrat side that is leading to SNAP benefits being restored, that is going to let people get back pay for all the hours they put in for free, that’s going to get our veterans paid, our members of the military paid, going to get air traffic controllers paid, cops, military. Again, poor people are going to get food stamps again. And the left is angry about that. People like Congressman Ro Khanna, are mad at their leadership for allowing a good thing like the government reopening again to occur.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s mind-boggling. It’s just people who are out of touch, who don’t understand the political moment that we’re in. Look, the good news is there’s a new generation of leaders. Zoran Mamdani won, Abigail Spanberger won, Mikey Sherrill won. There are people who get it. You know, someone jokingly, or maybe he was serious, described me as a backbencher calling for Schumer’s ouster. Some people who liked me came to my defense saying, no, he’s not a backbencher. I said, no, the problem is those of us in the back need to get to the front. This party needs a change in the leadership.
SPEAKER 03 :
Did you notice how he slipped up with his buddy there, Don Lemon, and said the political moment we are in? That echoes what other Democrats have slipped up and admitted to. The shutdown was our shutdown because that’s our leverage. That’s our leverage. We needed to leverage the pain of the American people. This was a brazen, ugly, damaging, intentionally imposed misery. It reminds me of COVID and the lunatic lockdowns that they came up with and the way they put people out of business, firing people if they didn’t want to get a vaccine, destroying people’s lives, ending people’s businesses, family businesses that in many cases have been in their family for generations. There are businesses that have never come back. all because of the draconian, outrageous lockdown tactics of the Democrat Party. Well, that’s what they saw the shutdown in. They like to be in this space. I don’t know how you negotiate with people like this. I just don’t. I’d like to try. I’d like to try to rise above the anger and the bitterness. But I’m going to tell you right flat out, we’ve got to get rid of the filibuster. We’ve got to enact President Trump’s agenda. And as long as there are activist, rogue federal judges who are going to continue to try to block the Trump agenda from moving forward, as long as they get to hide behind the filibuster and the 60-vote threshold, a lot of what Trump wants to get done isn’t going to get done. Check out Senator Roger Marshall from Kansas on Fox News yesterday pointing out how he’s kind of come around on the issue of abolishing the filibuster.
SPEAKER 04 :
Every day that the shutdown goes on, the more I’m convinced we need to end the filibuster. And as I do my math here, the same Democrats that some of my colleagues are counting on to protect the filibuster are the same Democrats who are afraid to come across the aisle and open the government. Just two years ago, every every senator, Democrat senator that’s still in office that’s here today voted to end the filibuster. Unless you can guarantee to me that the Democrats won’t do it, then we need to seriously consider it. You know, the only other option I can think of is enshrining it as a constitutional amendment. But this absolutely should be the conversation and the debate today for the Republican caucus.
SPEAKER 03 :
He’s right. We’ve got to have that conversation. We should have that debate right now, right here. 800-655-MIKE. It’s Veterans Day. I want to make it a first caller day. If you’ve never called the show, but you like what we do, or you agree, or even if you disagree, I’d like to put you… front and center, although I do want to talk to Jim here in just a moment in San Antonio. Let him stay on there, Alex, because he wants to disagree with me about the filibuster. And I do. I welcome your conversation because I want to ask you quite simply, if you know the Democrats are going to abolish the filibuster as soon as they can, why in the world would you be okay with it still being in place? It’s nonsensical. All I can imagine is that people who are against ending the filibuster, who want to keep the filibuster in place, secretly don’t want Trump’s agenda to succeed. I really believe that. There’s no other explanation. I’ve tried for days. I’ve asked you over and over again, why keep the filibuster? We haven’t gotten a single cognitive, coherent answer to my question. So please give it your best shot. 800-655-MIKE. Join us. SPEAKER 09 :
If you want to see what congressional Democrats wish to do to America, just look at the result of yesterday’s election in New York where their party installed a communist as the mayor of the largest city in the nation. Remember, I’ve said we will never have a socialist. elected to any post in our country. I used to say that, and I was right. We skipped socialists, and we put in a communist instead.
SPEAKER 07 :
Here’s Mike on Salem News Channel and Salem Radio Network.
SPEAKER 03 :
Stephanie Miller is a progressive leftist radio talk show host, been around for a long time. She posted a picture of herself kissing the feet of Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett of Texas. As the Blaze reports, the online response was not very supportive. She posted a picture of her and this lunatic Jasmine Crockett. And, man, she is. She’s like a cartoon character. That’s the most charitable way I can describe Jasmine Crockett. And she feels very emboldened by a communist getting elected mayor of New York. The loonies are strutting around now thinking, this is our future. Here we go. And Stephanie Miller posted on social media, why, yes, I did kiss the sneakers of Jasmine Crockett, and I do worship the ground she walks on. And she was lovely about it. The Blaze reports how many saw the bizarre interaction as a perfect analogy for the way Democrats worship their politicians. Think about what would happen if somebody kissed the feet of Trump. Do you realize what the media would be doing? They would have a seizure. They’d lose their minds. Here are some of the comments on social media for Stephanie Miller, who bragged about kissing Jasmine Crockett’s feet. One person wrote, if you’re a human being who kisses the feet of another human being, you’re an embarrassment to the human race. You’re disgusting. Another detractor wrote, politicians represent us. They’re not to be worshipped, and the fact that she allowed it tells you a lot. Another social media poster wrote, this is the type of thing only boomer liberal white women think is cool. Everyone else thinks you’re weird as crap. That’s a cringe moment. Crockett, by the way, has said that she’s thinking about seeking an even higher office because it would be karma against the Republican redistricting effort in Texas. She’s a piece of work, man. That Jasmine Crockett. And the one comment really rings true. I guarantee you Jasmine Crockett loved it. Guarantee you she loved a white woman kissing the feet of a strong, angry black woman like Jasmine Crockett. She says, I don’t take S from anybody. Yeah, she’s a real fighter, all right. And there’s Stephanie Miller bragging about kissing her feet. Maybe being playful. Look, it may have just been an attempt at a joke. And I can appreciate that sometimes attempts at humor fall flat. I want to make sure I set the record straight. I posted on X the other day how my Uber driver in New York City had a picture, a screenshot of the Ayatollah Khomeini on his cell phone. which really got my attention, I thought. And I was joking around about it with Mark Davis. And Mark told me, he said, look, don’t let him know about your support for Israel. And then I joked about how I was covering up my American flag Israel lapel pin. If you watch me on Salem News Channel every day, and incidentally, now I’m wearing a suit and tie every day. I feel kind of good in it. For years, I just wore like an open collar and a sport coat, but Somebody got on me one night because I didn’t have a suit and tie on. I had just the open collar and a sport coat. And so I put the tie on that night and I kind of like it. It makes me feel like I’m more in show mode. I’m no Chris DeGaulle. I mean, that guy looks like he just stepped right off the pages of GQ. Hewitt’s a little frumpy, but Chris DeGaulle, now he, Sebastian Gorka, he was always a guy with the pocket square and everything. I can’t really go that far. Maybe one of these days I’ll start wearing a pocket square. But anyway, if you watch, you see that I have a lapel pin that I wear every day that has an American flag conjoined with the Israeli flag. I support Israel. I’m sick of the anti-Semitism. I’m sick of seeing people actually believe that Israel doesn’t have a right to exist. And I’ve been a longtime supporter for Israel, so I wear an American flag, Israeli flag pin every single day of my working life. And when I travel, all the time, when I wear a sport coat. So I was joking with Mark about either trying to remove the flag pin surreptitiously or covering it up, with the obvious inference being I didn’t want the guy to kill me because I have an Israeli and American flag pin on. Now, for the record, that was joking. I didn’t really think the man was going to behead me in the backseat of the Uber. I did not think the man, simply because he had an Ayatollah Khomeini screenshot on his phone, was going to kill me if he saw my flag pin. I was joking. There was one particular humorless guy from Oklahoma who said, oh, well, you just have a communication problem. Because I wrote the guy back. I don’t often get into – and incidentally, people sometimes – come after me over different actions on social media or email and stuff. I don’t see everything. I try to see as much as I can, but we get about 1,000 texts and emails a day. So we get a lot of incoming. So I don’t often see everything. But at the end of the day, just give us a little bit of grace, okay? I was kidding. It never ceases to amaze me how in all the years I’ve done this, you can joke around or be sarcastic. I think it has to do with just the nature. I think, you know, you’re hanging on to every word. Well, the truth is a lot of people just kind of hear us a little bit in the background, don’t really hear full context. But again, just to set the record straight, I didn’t take off the flag pin. I didn’t cover it up. And no, I didn’t think he was going to blow me up. Lee in Spartanburg, South Carolina, 19 minutes before the hour. Hey, Lee, how’s it going today? Happy Veterans Day.
SPEAKER 06 :
Hey, happy Veterans Day to you, too. Thank you, sir. Mike, thanks for putting me on, buddy. You bet, you bet. I just called in, and I want to disagree with you about getting rid of the filibuster. Yes, sir. What I see is, being in South Carolina, we had Senator Strom Thurmond, who held the record for the longest filibuster many years ago.
SPEAKER 03 :
I remember that.
SPEAKER 06 :
That brings me to my point, is… Who’s filibustering? John Thune has never actually made the Democrats filibuster.
SPEAKER 03 :
And not only that, Lee, but they don’t even have to do the old-fashioned filibuster where you speak for hours and hours and hours and hours. They just say, oh, we want a filibuster. Boom, that’s it. They check the box, and then they move on.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s where they need to move it to. They need to move it so if you want a filibuster, let’s see you do it. Let’s see them get on the floor and obstruct the passage of this bill and make them own the shutdown. Amen. With no argument, make the media acknowledge the fact that they are actively obstructing the passage of this and we would win. We don’t need to get rid of the filibuster. We should do just that.
SPEAKER 03 :
I agree with you. I think you’re absolutely correct. Look, make it count, you know. If you’re going to get rid of the filibuster, then do it the way you’re supposed to do it. Stand on the floor. But see, that’s what I mean about, and again, if you don’t think they’re going to do, the second they’re in power, they’re not going to get rid of the filibuster, you’re delusional.
