John Rush and Andy Pate kick off a Friday loaded with laughs—and some controversy. First up: the long-awaited return of The Naked Gun, starring Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr. Does it live up to Leslie Nielsen’s iconic deadpan delivery? And shockingly… is Pamela Anderson the real comedic standout?
In the second hour, Andy reviews The Bad Guys 2, a kid-friendly sequel with some not-so-subtle gender programming. Between fart jokes in space and female villains with tech billion-dollar plots, the film delivers big laughs—but also a political undertone parents should know about.
Add in listener comedy favorites, a preview of the
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s finally Friday on Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. So I tell him I’m a pro jack. And who do you think they give me? The Dolly Lama. So we finish 18, and he’s going to sniff me. And I say, hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know? And he says, oh, it won’t be any money. But when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness. So I got that going. And movie reviews with Andy Payne.
SPEAKER 14 :
I think that you got the wrong impression about me. I think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what it is that I do.
SPEAKER 05 :
What I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.
SPEAKER 04 :
What do you want to do tonight?
SPEAKER 10 :
The same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the world. Stick a fork in me, Jerry. I’m done. Now, here is your host of Rush to Reason, John Rush.
SPEAKER 20 :
All right. Happy Friday. Rush to Reason. Denver’s Afternoon Rush. KLZ 560. Myself, Andy Pate. Charlie Grimes, of course. We’ve got movie reviews today. And, of course, second hour, we’ve got movie rentals as well. Best comedies today.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. We haven’t done that in a long time. It’s been like two years.
SPEAKER 20 :
We kind of intertwine some of those anyways.
SPEAKER 03 :
We do. We do. But we’ll have fun with it.
SPEAKER 20 :
You had a good week? Been a good week. Are you ready for the weekend? Always.
SPEAKER 03 :
I am, too. I really am, too.
SPEAKER 20 :
Big remote tomorrow. For those of you listening, we’ll be out at the Rocky Mountain Car. And it’s not an air show, but there’s airplanes and things there because it’s up at the airport, Rocky Mountain Airport, the old Jeffco Airport, for those of you that maybe have been around here for a while. And there’s always a bunch of cars, and it’s just a great day.
SPEAKER 03 :
What’s the location for people who don’t know where that is?
SPEAKER 20 :
Corner of Wadsworth and US 36. It’ll be on the southwest corner. And if you just Google, you know, put into your maps, you know, Rocky Mountain Airport, it will literally take you right to where we will be. And when you get up there, there will be plenty of signs. And you won’t be able to park at the airport anyway. So once you get up in the area, the way they do it is you park in some of the outer businesses in the lots, and they’ve got a – An old tractor and a wagon behind it where they shuttle people to and from the parking lots. If you don’t feel like walking that far, you can actually hop on and have a little ride.
SPEAKER 03 :
That sounds fun.
SPEAKER 20 :
It is. So it’s a great day. Bring the family. Always family events. Those of you that want to enter a car, you can do that as well. You can check that out. Also, we’ve got announcements and things. along those lines on all of our Facebook pages, on all of the social media, so you can check things out there as well if you would like. But again, we’ll be up there tomorrow. I’ll be live 9 to 1. The show, I believe, goes from like 10 to 3 or so. But believe me, folks, there’ll be people starting rolling in there at 8 o’clock in the morning.
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 20 :
Always a lot of fun. So, all right, talk to us about the movies today, Andy.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, the reason we’re doing comedies in the second hour is because, for once, we’re actually reviewing two comedies today. They are The Naked Gun and The Bad Guys 2. When is the last time I’ve done two comedies in one day?
SPEAKER 20 :
I’m not sure I can remember a time, Andy.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, a lot of people have been wondering about this. I’ve been wondering about this, and that is the death of the comedy. There are so few comedies. I’m not saying there aren’t any. Of course, you still have one now and then. You have one here and there. But, oh my gosh, John, there are so few comedies, so many horror movies. We talk about that. It’s because of the low budget, of course. But horror movies are also a lot easier to write. Comedies are very, very difficult to write. It takes incredible talent. To write a comedy. I mean incredible talent. Just flat out more talent than to write other things for the most part. And so they’re vanishing.
SPEAKER 20 :
And the wokesters don’t make good comedies anymore either. That’s the other problem, right?
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. That’s a big part of the problem is that the wokesters, let’s face it.
SPEAKER 20 :
The woke movement killed comedy.
SPEAKER 03 :
There’s a reason Greg Gutfeld is the funniest thing late night nowadays. And the fact is that when you are offended at everything, you laugh at nothing. And the wokesters have made comedy very difficult. But you can still get through it. You can still get over it. And we’ll take a try at it today.
SPEAKER 20 :
All right. Again, for those of you listening, start texting us. We’ll have favorite comedies in the second hour. But our first movie today, Andy, is going to be what?
SPEAKER 03 :
The Naked Gun.
SPEAKER 20 :

SPEAKER 03 :
Are you ready for a movie?
SPEAKER 20 :
This one especially.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. I’ve been waiting. Have you been waiting? I’ve been waiting.
SPEAKER 20 :
Previews look great, so I’ve been waiting. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, John. Can irreverent humor make a comeback? That’s a question.
SPEAKER 20 :
That is a good question.
SPEAKER 03 :
I think it is a good question. Well, let’s find out. It needs to. It does need to. Let’s find out in the new The Naked Gun.
SPEAKER 06 :
Once you kill a man for revenge, there’s no going back. That was awesome.
SPEAKER 13 :
Who are you?
SPEAKER 05 :
Drebin. Detective Frank Drebin.
SPEAKER 18 :
Thanks. Police squad has always been the elite of the elite.
SPEAKER 06 :
Hi, Daddy. It’s me, Frank Jr. Love you. Hey, Dad. Boy, do I miss you. Over here, Lieutenant. I think someone murdered my brother. Please, take his chair. Thank you. I’ll find them. This is what I do. Says you served 20 years for man’s laughter. You mean manslaughter? Must have been quite the joke.
SPEAKER 18 :
They’re going to shut down police squad if you do not solve this case.
SPEAKER 06 :
Do this by the book. Show a little respect! Why? Who’s gonna arrest me? Other cops?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes. Is he serious? Is he serious? He’s no.
SPEAKER 06 :
It seems this driver might be more of a problem than we thought. I want you to keep an eye on him.
SPEAKER 12 :
This oven is disgusting.
SPEAKER 06 :
Rest assured, I won’t stop until I’ve found justice.
SPEAKER 16 :
What do you want, little one?
SPEAKER 06 :
Your ass. Nobody messes with police squad.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. What do you think, John? Sounds good. Okay. Well, as you obviously can tell, Liam Neeson, he stars as Frank Drebin Jr., son of Leslie Nielsen’s famous character, Frank Drebin. Well, like Dad, Frank Jr. is, let’s face it, a grossly incompetent cop who takes his work seriously while being a total buffoon. Hey, why mess with a good formula? Let’s stick with what works. Oh, right, there’s a plot, too. Pamela Anderson, who for decades ago was running tortoise on a beach in Baywatch, she now plays Beth Davenport, a femme fatale looking for a man who killed her brother. That person is a mystery, but one obvious villain is tech billionaire Richard Cain, played by Danny Houston. I like him.
SPEAKER 20 :
He’s great, yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, he is. Cain has an electronic device that turns people into enraged lunatics.
SPEAKER 20 :
Why does he want to do this?
SPEAKER 03 :
I’m not really sure.
SPEAKER 20 :
Does he just play CNN or something? What does he do?
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, that would do it. That would do it. Play The View? You can’t do that anymore. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, so you need something new. Well, Frank, okay, he must stop the killer, but he must also stop this madman, can he? And John, does it matter? Unlike the original series, this naked gun is a little more violent, but it’s silly, exaggerated violence. You know, tearing arms off a villain and beating him with them. it’s just funny uh there are silly running gags like frank jr and ed jr being given coffee from every direction over and over there are several sight gags including a hilarious scene with x-ray vision watching frank and beth in supposedly x-rated sequences it’s so wrong Yes, it’s so wrong, but great comedy is often so wrong, isn’t it?
SPEAKER 17 :
Yes, I agree.
SPEAKER 03 :
Ultimately, the great question is, how funny is this movie? Can it match up to the originals? Will it bog down in political correctness? These are the questions people are asking. And finally, can comedy come back? And that’s the question for The Naked Gun. What do you think?
SPEAKER 20 :
Sounds good so far.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, what works in The Naked Gun? Well, first of all, John, the 85-minute runtime is admirable for a comedy.
SPEAKER 20 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 03 :
You never want a comedy coming right out of the chute going two hours. I agree with you there. And so you’re at hour 25. That’s pretty nice. Get in, grab some laughs, get out. Kudos to Pamela Anderson, both for her performance and physical fitness at the age of 58. Her delivery of lines and so-called jazz are even better than Neeson. Honestly, she did the best job of anyone in this movie. Really?
SPEAKER 20 :
I would not have thought that.
SPEAKER 03 :
I would not have. Remember when she was always just thought of as the pin-up model who couldn’t act?
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, the bimbo, the blonde bimbo.
SPEAKER 03 :
The bimbo, the blondie, you know, and all that. And she now has been doing some acting and has already impressed in a couple roles this one, too. Neeson, he’s so well-known for intense action dramas, so his deadpan delivery, it does sell. Paul Walter Hauser. He’s ideal as that junior. He’s a straight man with his own funny style. I think he does a good job. Next, while the jokes are hit and miss, the hits are often home runs. My wife was talking about this, John. She said this is the most she’s heard a crowd laugh probably this year.
SPEAKER 20 :
Really? Oh, that’s awesome.
SPEAKER 03 :
Probably, yeah. That’s awesome. Yeah, there were some real laughs. This film has the best sight gags since Good Boys. All right. I mean, it is really. That movie had some real sight gags. This has two big time laughs. The race jokes, they go both ways. I like that. You got jokes about cops shooting black guys, but they’re balanced by gags about OJ and Bill Cosby. Sure, the villain could be equated with Elon Musk if you want, but that’s a stretch. Nobody really cares. Every villain in every movie nowadays is a tech billionaire.
SPEAKER 20 :
Right.
SPEAKER 03 :
I mean, that’s just.
SPEAKER 20 :
Good point.
SPEAKER 03 :
And it’s been that way for a while before Elon. It has been that way really for the last decade. Let’s see here. The first two-thirds of this film are very funny. They are well-written, and there’s lots of stupid one-liners, and I like that, John. Okay, what doesn’t work in The Naked Gun? Well, the jokes, they miss too often. This isn’t Ghostbusters or Liar Liar. The final third still has moments, but it slows down considerably in terms of comedy. They ran out of gas. The ending, including the credits, is really weak, even a bit painful. I was just like, wow. You guys had 60 minutes of humor for an 85-minute movie. You just didn’t have it. You should have gone back to the drawing board a little longer. Neeson is not as good as Leslie Nielsen. He’s not.
SPEAKER 20 :
Nobody is.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, that’s just it. And this is why I thought about it for a little bit, and I could realize while he was doing it, his lines, they either seem a little rushed or a little delayed. The timing’s off.
SPEAKER 04 :
Hmm.
SPEAKER 03 :
I don’t think people understand how well Leslie Nielsen was able to time the delivery and how he did these lines. It just looked like an older actor saying something stupid. They didn’t understand the timing involved in real humor. And I’m not saying Neeson blew it. He did pretty well. It’s just that he’s following Nielsen. And that’s really tough. Next. Honestly, while Anderson looks great for her age, she still looks her age, John. She’s got the wrinkles around her eyes. This isn’t like Priscilla Presley, who was much younger when the originals were filmed.
SPEAKER 20 :
Good point.
SPEAKER 03 :
And so if they do a sequel, I don’t know how they’re going to do it. She’s going to be in her 60s. I’m not sure how they’re going to pull that off. They have a snowman scene, which is very funny, but it drags out too long. All right. So, bottom line, we’re talking about a movie. Is this a funny movie? Yes, it is. It’s a very funny movie, especially early on. This thing was a lot of fun for quite a while, and then it just ran out of gas. Rotten Tomatoes gave this movie 90%, but if you read through a lot of the reviews, you’re not seeing… Four out of four stars. You’re not seeing any of that. You’re seeing a lot of good, not great reviews. I’m going to go with them on that. Three and a half stars in quality. Four. The Naked Gun, I think it’s a strong three and a half stars, bordered on a four. I had a lot of fun. I got some big laughs, which, by the way, I needed. We needed some more comedies. Is… Let’s raunchy. I guess you would say at times it’s raunchy. Other times it’s just silly, but is this kind of comedy back? Well, at least for this movie. Yes, it is political three. It didn’t say a thing really, or when it did, it went both ways. More religious, obviously.
SPEAKER 20 :
It is what it is.
SPEAKER 03 :
You know, I’m going to knock it off just a little bit just because they go very much the way they go. But I could have knocked it down to a zero or a one easily. But then again, it’s for this kind of movie.
SPEAKER 20 :
It’s the Naked Gun.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s the Naked Gun. What are you going to it for? Are you going to the Naked Gun to watch a movie about nuns and saints? I don’t think so. You’re going to the Naked Gun here. So within that genre, more religious, I’m giving it two stars. Do I recommend going to the Naked Gun? Folks, get out there, buy a ticket, go to the Naked Gun. This is not going to be offensive politically. I don’t remember it ever ripping on my religion. None of that.
SPEAKER 20 :
That’s good.
SPEAKER 03 :
There were stupid moments. It wasn’t always funny. I don’t care. There were a good number of moments and a lot of lines that I thought were hysterical. I needed this movie. I enjoyed it. I recommend going to the Naked Gun.
SPEAKER 20 :
The one thing that I could see with Liam Neeson is he is sort of dry in his humor like Leslie Nielsen was. But to your point on the delivery end of things, I could see where that might be difficult because I don’t think the comedy thing isn’t his normal genre of things to do. Correct?
SPEAKER 03 :
Am I saying that right? It is not. And that doesn’t mean he can’t do it. He can.
SPEAKER 20 :
But it takes practice, right?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, and like you said, that kind of dry voice kind of delivery. He does it well. The deadpan delivery obviously does that very well. That is perfect for him. But he’s following a master. Nielsen, the timing. Every line was so beautifully timed. Even if the writing wasn’t that good, his delivery of it was spot on. But in this movie, honestly, the one who was delivering the lines best was Pamela Anderson.
SPEAKER 20 :
I am shocked at that one, Andy. Literally, I’m shocked. She did a good job. I would have not guessed that.
SPEAKER 03 :
At one point, she sings jazz. You will enjoy that.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, all of what you’re saying, total surprise to me on that. I would not have picked that at all.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 20 :
I just wouldn’t have.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, Pamela Anderson is back, and this is all part of her coming back. Her comeback, I don’t know, tour, as it were. And I think we’re going to see more of her. I think we really are.
SPEAKER 20 :
Up next, Bad Boys, The Bad Boys 2, I should say.
SPEAKER 03 :
Bad Guys 2.
SPEAKER 20 :
Or Bad Guys, sorry, not Bad Boys. Bad Guys, Bad Guys 2. That’ll be next. Veteran Windows and Doors coming up next. And I keep saying there’s an Energy Star change coming up when it comes to the rating, especially for those of us at this elevation. Give Dave Bancroft a call today. Just find him at klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 11 :
Veteran Windows and Doors is committed to installing only the right windows and doors engineered specifically for your Colorado home. Every product they install is energy certified, code compliant, and carefully chosen for our unique climate and elevation. Here’s the truth. Federal regulations are written for the entire country, not for homes at Colorado’s high altitude. And those blanket rules, they can actually increase your carbon footprint, not reduce it. Windows that aren’t made for our elevation let in more heat, force your AC to work harder, and drive up your energy bills. Other companies will try to sell you windows that meet the new Department of Energy and EPA standards going into effect this January. Those windows won’t work properly here. Veteran Windows and Doors will make sure you get sustainable, efficient windows that are truly right for your home before the new laws kick in. Find Veteran Windows and Doors at klzradio.com.

SPEAKER 03 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, John Rush, together with Andy Pate and John. Are you ready for another movie?
SPEAKER 20 :
Absolutely.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right. Well, John, kid comedy sequels are, I mean, kid comedies are a lot of, but the sequels rarely work out. True. They usually drop off big. But let’s try again with The Bad Guys 2.
SPEAKER 09 :
Not everyone believes it, but the bad guys win good. And we cannot wait for society to welcome us with open arms. Aren’t you a notorious criminal? Yes, no, maybe. Sorry, nerves. It hasn’t been easy with a reputation like ours. You want to work at a bank? Why not? Some of my best memories are at banks. You robbed us three times. Duh. That was this bank?
SPEAKER 18 :
How are we supposed to get a fresh start if no one will trust us?
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m keeping my eye on you. What was that? I panicked, okay? I’m a panicker.
SPEAKER 18 :
The name’s Kitty, and these are my associates. So you’re like the bad girls. We need the bad guys for the biggest heist in history.
SPEAKER 09 :
Maybe you don’t keep up with the news, but we’re good now.
SPEAKER 18 :
I’m not exactly asking. Don’t tell me you guys are bad again.
SPEAKER 09 :
No, we’re being set up. We need to show the world we’re good. So we’re going to sabotage them.
SPEAKER 03 :
You’re not nervous, right? Because we know what happens when you’re nervous. Buddy, I’m sorry. What? No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER 16 :
Help me.
SPEAKER 04 :
Stay with me, Bumble. Stay with me. No.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, John, The Bad Guys 2. Did you see The Bad Guys?
SPEAKER 20 :
I never did.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, well, the first film, it was a real surprise. It came out of nowhere. I gave it four stars. It was funny. It was interesting. It was clever. It was a very enjoyable movie. This time, we find the reformed bad guys are struggling. No one wants to hire someone with a criminal record, especially like theirs, because they have the top, biggest criminal record. But, John, they’re determined. They want to go good. Then an opportunity arises. There’s a new criminal in town, one who is framing the bad guys for crimes. If they can catch this crook, it’ll further fix their image. So Wolf, and he’s the leader of the bad guys, he gets together with the police commissioner, who has always hated him, and convinces her to let his team help find the new villain. Meanwhile, romance is in the air. John Snake, one of the crew on the bad guys, has a new girlfriend and it’s a bird named Doom. Wolf and Diane, meanwhile, Governor Fox, she’s a fox, he’s a wolf. They also have some flirting going on, but she can’t give in to it because a governor can’t be known, you know, together with a known ex-super criminal. That’s not going to work. Even though, by the way, she was secretly a criminal earlier in life. Anyway, the bad guys help the cops, but then they get framed again. The new villain is Kitty Cat, a muscle-bound female panther and her female criminal team. Kitty Cat is bitter and powerful, wanting to pull the greatest heist ever. She needs the bad guys to help. But how can she get them to help? Simple. Leverage. Kitty Cat, well, she gets some video footage that could harm someone close to Wolf so the bad guys play along. Ultimately, this is a battle to stop Kitty Cat, rebuild their good names, and rescue a good friend. There’s a lot going on in Bad Guys 2. What do you think?
SPEAKER 20 :
Sounds good. Yeah. I never saw the first one, but it sounds good.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s a good plot line. Well, what works in The Bad Guys 2? First of all, John, there are some big laughs. And Piranha passing gas in space is a hilarious scene. It really is. There are some tremendous scenes and cartoonistry. Great artwork. A lot of times I have seen some of these where the second movie comes out and it’s cheap and it looks like it was made for TV and then they release it. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. This, you could tell, was made for the movie theaters, the big theaters. It is beautiful to look at many times. There are a lot of plot twists, good plot twists, to keep you engaged. The villain from the first film, Professor Marmalade, is radically changed in a funny way. The Wolf and Fox romance is actually very good. It’s interesting. It’s… Charming. It is. Wolf is also a very smart guy. He’s a very smart criminal. And he’s a planner, John. He’s a really good planner. And I like that. The script is balanced for the characters. Everyone is kept involved. There’s good flow. And I like that. One of the characters, played by Awkwafina, a little spider character. who does their IT, and she has really good lines, but everybody, the shark has good lines. Everybody has good lines, and they measure it, and they keep everybody involved and balanced. That’s not easy to do with a sequel. Most importantly, kids were having fun, John. The kids were engaged in the audience. That’s what you want. All right, what doesn’t work in Bad Guys 2? While there are big laughs, the jokes aren’t as consistent as the original film. The original film was more consistently funny, although this one I think probably had a couple bigger laughs. So, you know, take it for what it is. Here’s a big one. The first film engaged in programming young viewers in female superiority, both in titles and strength. And this is something I’m talking. This is pure agenda. Right. And the first film did a little of this pure agenda. The girl was the better fighter. The girl was the more impressive villain. Right. And the girl was also the chief of police. Well, this film dials that up to 11 with girls being far stronger and better fighters and boys at every level. Men just get pounded on all movie, John. Women are in charge of everything. Governor, chief of police, crime lord, better fighters, everything. I’m telling you right now, folks, when your kids go to this movie, they are being programmed. They are being programmed, and they are being programmed against those who see men and women’s sports as unfair, for instance. They’re being programmed to see women as being basically more capable of everything in every way than boys.
SPEAKER 20 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 03 :
And I find that offensive. I don’t think that’s a good message put before kids. I like both sides of the coin. I don’t like favoring one that way. Next, there’s some needless profanity, very little, but just a moment at the beginning. There’s one sequence that is really ridiculous when they’re entering into space. It’s funny, but it’s just so implausible. I know it’s kid flick. It’s comedy. I get it. But boy, oh boy, it is really implausible. They really push it this time. The action and storyline, they jump around too much. I like the plot twist. Don’t get me wrong. And I thought a lot of the action was very good. I thought the cartoonistry was great. But it was jumping around too much. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. The kids are still having fun just because they like the characters. They like the animals. They like a few of the funny moments, the sight gags. But I don’t think at times the kids were even able to follow it.
SPEAKER 04 :
Hmm.
SPEAKER 03 :
The classic more is better problem, right? You see this a lot of times with these, especially kids, sequels. They make it much more complex than the first movie. They have more plot twists, more things going bigger, better, and all this kind of stuff. That’s really not a good idea.
SPEAKER 20 :
It’s too much.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. And they make that mistake with this sequel. But you still have a good movie. Rotten Tomatoes gave the bad guys two, 86%. Okay. All right. I’m going to go close to that once again, just like The Naked Gun. I’m going quality three and a half stars.
SPEAKER 20 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 03 :
For political, I’m going to go all the way down to zero. Even though it doesn’t talk about politics at all, the… The innuendos are? Well, the absolute just depiction of women as absolutely superior to men in almost every phase of life, in almost every way. Physical strength, speed, intellect, they’re in charge of everything. It’s just, it is quite a world that they depict. All right. And it is really programming. You’re talking about young kids who are watching this and they come out of these movies. And I think too many of these movies is one reason, John, one reason that a lot of young boys become very bitter and angry. It’s hard. It’s hard to go into movies and see this kind of messaging over and over and over. The kid doesn’t know it at the time. They have no idea. They’re just enjoying the animals and so forth. But there’s something deep down inside of them thinking, you know. This isn’t right. I don’t like this. And they’re being programmed. So political, I’m going to give it a zero. Moral religious, I’m going to give it two and a half, just a touch off for one little moment of profanity, not much. Outside of that, moral religious was just fine throughout the movie. I liked it. Do I recommend going to the bad guys too? Yes, I do. But with a caveat, number one, see the first one first. It’s online. Rent it. It’s worth watching. It’s funny. It’s enjoyable. So you’ll understand the characters better. This is one where it definitely benefits you to see the first one first. Some sequels stand on their own. This one doesn’t stand on its own very well. You’ve got to know the first one. Secondly, just understand that your kids are being programmed in just a very, very, very left-wing view of the genders.
SPEAKER 20 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 03 :
Now, they don’t have any trans or anything like that in there, trans or gay, nothing like that, just their view of the gender. So just know what you’re getting into. That’s all I say. Bad Guys 2, is it a good, funny movie? Yes, it is. In fact, there are some big laughs, and we could use those right now.
SPEAKER 20 :
Okay. Up next, Geno’s Auto Service, where if you’ve got any problems at all with your vehicle, especially on the air conditioning side, give them a call today. You can find them by going to genosautoservice.com, and Geno starts with a J.
SPEAKER 13 :
Air conditioning season is here. Take advantage of Geno’s Auto’s air conditioning recharge special. Is your vehicle’s air conditioning ready to keep you cool on hot days? We all know how fast Colorado can heat up during the day. The refrigerant in your air conditioning system gets contaminants, evaporates, and breaks down over time. That refrigerant needs to be able to absorb heat to be able to cool your vehicle’s interior. Geno’s uses a cooling machine that takes out the old refrigerant and cleans it. Then they put the clean refrigerant back, topping off with Freon at the right level. To make your life simpler, Geno’s offers loaner vehicles so you can drop your car off and pick up when ready. We back up our work with NAPA’s nationwide 36-month, 36,000-mile warranty. Stay cool this summer by making sure your system is up to date and ready for this year’s summer heat. Give us a call or go online to schedule an appointment. We’re AAA approved and located at Bowles and Platt Canyon. Stop in or visit us online at genosautoservice.com.

SPEAKER 20 :
And we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Myself, Andy Pate. Charlie Grimes, of course, with us today. It’s Friday. Next hour, best comedies, your favorite comedies, I guess I should say. You can start texting those in now if you would like, by the way. 307-200-8222. What is your favorite most recent comedy? Good question. I thought… There hasn’t been any good ones, really, of late. I thought Deadpool and Wolverine last summer was… And I didn’t see that, so you’re one-upping me there, because I didn’t see that one yet.
SPEAKER 03 :
It was very funny, but once again, it was very, very woke and got a little old after a while, and it was also dragged out too long, so it wasn’t great, but it was funny. It wasn’t as fresh as the Deadpool movies can be, but it was really good. Honestly, the last movie that just had me falling over laughing was Good Boys.
SPEAKER 04 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 03 :
And you never saw that, did you? That’s worth it.
SPEAKER 20 :
Really funny.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. I’m not sure if I’ve seen my wife laugh that hard.
SPEAKER 20 :
Really? So it’s that good?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, it’s three boys. I think it’s three, maybe four. I forget now. And they are around 12, 13 years old, and they want to be bad. Oh, that’s the one you were telling me about. They’ve got terribly foul language, right?
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
But they have no idea how to be bad. They don’t know what they’re doing, and it’s very funny.
SPEAKER 20 :
I have not seen that yet. I guess I’ll have to figure out how to watch that one at some point here.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s very wrong at times, John.
SPEAKER 20 :
Comedies are always fun. In fact, Andy and I talk about that a lot. Comedies should be fun, in my opinion. The problem with the left, Andy, and I always say it, is it’s the NFL. It’s the no-fun league, so they don’t know how to have fun.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right.
SPEAKER 20 :
They’ve forgotten how to have fun.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER 20 :
Maybe they never knew how in the first place.
SPEAKER 03 :
You know, John, I think this also explains some of the popularity of Trump.
SPEAKER 20 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 03 :
Because he just, first of all, he’s a naturally funny guy. He is.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
And also he says it without reservation. He doesn’t care. He doesn’t care what he says. And I think a lot of people are tired of being on guard everywhere they go in every setting.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, I think that’s getting old.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s getting very old. People are really starting to resent knowing that, I don’t know, this teacher or that lawyer or this politician or that actor or whoever loses their job. Why? Because they said something offensive that was in a post 15 years ago. And people are just like, you know.
SPEAKER 20 :
Who cares?
SPEAKER 03 :
We’re over it. Yeah, this was offensive. Yeah, I disagree with that. Yeah, that was racist or sexist or bigoted or whatever. You know, it was anti-Christian or it was anti-gay or whatever. But you know what? A lot of time has passed. This is a whole new person in front of me. Let them live their life. And I think people are tired of being worried about the ridiculous consequences for things that they say. Remember, what did our mom tell us? Right? Sticks and stones. May break your bones. Yeah, but words may… Names will never hurt me. Yeah, supposedly they’ll never hurt you. Nowadays… It’s the opposite. …is the opposite. What do you think? I mean, nowadays, you can have a mob beat the living hell out of some white people in Cincinnati, and that’s okay. And they have only $400 bail? Are you kidding me? So now that happens. But if somebody is going to say something offensive once 10, 15 years ago online in some unrelated discussion, they’re out of a job.
SPEAKER 20 :
I mean, does that sound out of whack? No, you’re right. You’re spot on.
SPEAKER 1 :
100%.
SPEAKER 03 :
By the way, let me ask you this. Go ahead. Regarding what happened in Cincinnati, this is going to sound very strong. But I mean this and I’m saying this to look, we have visitors of all races. We have visitors of all backgrounds here. OK. And you and I both know that we’re not talking about black conservatives. We’re talking about black liberals. OK. My life was changed. Probably the greatest person in my life or one of them was a black man who changed my life in the military. Okay, Big Mike was his name, and he turned me around. I was a stupid hothead. He made me into an adult. So trust me, couldn’t care less what you look like.
SPEAKER 20 :
I’m with you.
SPEAKER 03 :
But I’m telling you, it is not safe right now for white people to be downtown in urban areas in America. If there is a mob of black people, if they want… Now, does that mean they’re going to hurt you? Of course not. You have no idea, right? People are people. But… If they want to, they can get together as a mob and harm you. And here are the things that you can be assured of, John. Number one, they’re probably not going to get caught. Number two, they are going to get bail set that is going to be way, way, way lower than if it were the reverse. What if that were a white group that had done this to a black guy? Okay. Nobody would be excusing it, nor would I. I would be saying put their asses in jail. Okay. And… You know, John, it is a scary time. It is a scary time right now. And by the way, you could say in a way it’s just desserts, right? I don’t think so because I wasn’t, you know, I don’t think we should be punished for generations past. But if you went back 60, 70 years in the old South, it was the reverse. And if you were a person, and if I had a friend who was black, I would tell that friend, man, if you’re downtown in Houston and you see a group of young white guys looking rowdy, Look, walk the other way.
SPEAKER 20 :
Right.
SPEAKER 03 :
I would say that to my friend.
SPEAKER 20 :
Get out of there.
SPEAKER 03 :
Out of caring. I think it’s a dangerous time. And, you know, you think outside that Bronco game, outside that Nuggets game, you know, whatever event. This is a rhythm and blues concert. And who’s the guy who does what is a woman doing?
SPEAKER 20 :
Walsh.
SPEAKER 03 :
Walsh. He did a video explaining what’s been going on in Cincinnati. The racism there is incredibly terrible. Okay. Incredibly biased hiring practices and their cops. All right. It has been incredibly anti-white in Cincinnati now for quite a while. I didn’t know this. I had no idea. I don’t know anything about Cincinnati.
SPEAKER 20 :
Me neither.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s terrifying when you hear some of the numbers that he reels off. The simple fact is it’s not safe in a lot of these big areas. The simple fact is, John, if you and your wife were to walk downtown some night to go out to dinner, if a group wanted to get together and do that to you, they would face far, far, far. They could do it almost with impunity. They’d face far less danger than a group of white kids would face.
SPEAKER 20 :
No, unfortunately, Andy, I think you’re 100% correct. All the more reason why I, my wife and I, we won’t go to those places, especially evenings after dark, whatever. It’s not going to happen. It’s not safe, so don’t go. It’s just ridiculous. So just stay away from those places. I’m sorry to say that. I mean, that’s the problem downtown Denver’s got right now is most people don’t want to go.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, and people hear that, and they’re thinking, what, is Andy saying that black people are more? No, no, all people are people. We’re all equal. We’re all exactly the same. But our culture has decided to tell one group, if they wish, they can do this.
SPEAKER 20 :
Dave, you’re up, sir. Go ahead. We’ve got a few minutes.
SPEAKER 19 :
Yeah, so I love what you guys are talking about. Number one, I’m looking for Pam Bondi to bring civil rights charges against anybody that was caught in that Cincinnati incident. Because now the feds can get involved in this, even if the local police force or whatever is not going to bring the charges, Pam Bondi can. And you have to understand something. 85% of the violent crime is committed by less than 7% of the population. And I’m talking about black people. So like it or not, that’s the truth. And you have to be careful. And I think, too, when you watch that video, there were a number of black people trying to pull the perpetrators off that person. That’s something I saw in there. And I saluted them. And they were doing that in peril of their own lives, too. So, yeah, I’m right there with you people, especially when people have to be wary in urban places until we get this mess straightened out. And I am so glad that we’ve got a president that is pushing for law enforcement, that is backing law enforcement, that’s going to give them everything they need. Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, I totally agree. I absolutely agree, Dave. That’s what we need. And please, would you please get your friend to run for governor? I’m having no luck here on the microphone.
SPEAKER 19 :
I wouldn’t. You know, he’s doing a good job right where he is right now. That’s true. We’ve got a good gubernatorial candidate. And I’m not going to mention his name because I know you guys are going to be interviewing these people. And I really hope they get on your show and Denver can hear his voice. But the Republican Party’s got to get their act together. They’ve got to unify. They’ve got to. And the money’s got to come because right now they’re having trouble. getting money, getting money donated. And I recommend that people donate to the candidate and not the state party because you don’t know where that money is going to go.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, I agree. You know, right now, Dave, I think we have some really good candidates. We just interviewed one, right? Mark Baisley, who I’ve really liked for a long time. Known him forever. I think he’d be a fine candidate. I’m sure we have some others. But I kind of think, Dave, and you tell me what you think, that people are waiting to see what cream rises to the top before they commit their money.
SPEAKER 19 :
And, you know, that’s probably the case. That is probably because we’ve been… Oh, man, we have been bushwhacked by our own party, especially here in El Paso County. Man, we had some rogues running the party here. It was disastrous. It’s been wild down there.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, no, and I think Dave Andy’s right on that. I think a lot of donors will wait and see, you know, who ends up sort of, you know, sticking it out. And, you know, because right now I think there’s, I think Mark Bazley and I were talking last week, there’s like 17 or 18 candidates right now. And the reality is that’s got to get down to, you know, two or three really high quality candidates at the end of the day before you start people getting before you start seeing people donate to any one of those three. I think Andy’s right on that one, Dave. And really quick, sorry, I want to add one more thing to that. I think, Dave, that needs to happen because otherwise you’re diluting the money that could go to two or three top candidates. Nothing against everybody running. You can put your name in the hat. That’s all fine and dandy. But at some point, some of those folks need to get out of the way because it will dilute the money train if you would.
SPEAKER 19 :
And so, yeah, I’m in total agreement with you. I’m looking forward to drop down to two or three people and Mark Baisley and the guy whose name I’m not going to mention simply because he needs to get on your show first and you need to hear him and see where he’s coming from. But, yeah, as soon as we know, man, I’m not a rich guy, but I’m going to do everything I can.
SPEAKER 20 :
Well, Dave, to your point, you’re spot on because we all have to remember who we’re probably going to be running against. There’s two strong candidates right now on the Democrat side. I don’t think it’ll be much of a fight. Weiser is going to lose. Bennett will be the guy that rises to the top. He has got all of the money on his side. He will figure out how to make that happen. So it’s going to be Michael Bennett against whoever else we have, and he will be very well-funded.
SPEAKER 19 :
And he’s got so many strikes against him as far as rational, reasonable people. If the Republicans just run those commercials showing Democrats shooting their mouth, shooting their policies, all that kind of stuff, I don’t think that it stands a chance if we get to look at what they’ve been doing for the last six years.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, Dave, but I just got to ask this, and I know it’s going to sound harsh. I really love a lot of these candidates who are in the pool right now. I do, and I will absolutely rally. But do you see anybody with Derek Wilburn’s let’s just say it, ability to cast a phrase, ability to speak, ability to motivate, ability to inspire. I don’t. And what I’m saying is this. When we are running for this position, we need somebody who comes out of the blue, who shocks people with their ability to captivate a crowd. Derek Wilburn, to me, is the only one in the state. Okay, and I could be totally wrong. I think we’ve got some good speakers and wonderful people who would do a great job. But to me, Derek is special.
SPEAKER 19 :
He is, you know, that guy is like a brother to me. He is like my brother because as far as Christians go, we have some pillars in our community. You, John, Derek, I mean, I’ve met some incredible Christian men in my life, and you three are a part of that. And I’m not just saying that.
SPEAKER 04 :
I’m honored.
SPEAKER 19 :
I did a show with you, John, a long time ago, and you blew me away. Well, thank you. You blew me away, man. Thank you, Dave. That means a lot. I appreciate you. I look at Derek, and he’s going through some things right now. You know, he… He just had an operation. His wife is battling cancer right now. Yeah, that’s a lot. Sorry to hear that. Yeah, he needs to concentrate on that, get himself well and stuff like that. But I know that he’s willing to put in the time and help somebody, help a good person. Christian, Republican, conservative get elected. And I throw those three labels out. Call me a nationalist. I don’t care.
SPEAKER 20 :
No, I think you’re spot on.
SPEAKER 19 :
That’s perfect. We need somebody with a rational, reasonable mind in that office. And we can. I agree.
SPEAKER 20 :
Dave, you hit it out of the park as always. Appreciate you, man. Love you. You’re great. I can’t say enough about Dave. He is a solid individual and looks at things in a very rational way and very much like we do, Andy. And I mean, you can’t get any stronger than Dave.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, I’ve met Dave a couple times when I’ve spoken. Dave is somebody who impacts your life almost instantly.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yep, he is a great guy. So Cup Creek coming up next, folks. I talked to Hunter today, by the way. When it comes to your AC or anything else you’ve got going on, give him a call today. Just remember that the hotter it is, typically the little bit further behind, they may get. But whatever you need, give him a call today. Go to klzradio.com and find him there.
SPEAKER 13 :
You should have Cub Creek Heating and AC on speed dial by now. We hit a heat wave every summer, and their phones are already ringing off the hook. SPEAKER 08 :
Live and local, back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 20 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Finishing out this first hour. Next hour, favorite comedies. And, you know, it’s a comedy, folks. I mean, what rules are around a comedy? It has to be funny. I mean, you know, got to be a comedy. Did it make you laugh? We’re not talking about dramas and all that kind of stuff. But, you know, comedies. Could be romantic, whatever. We don’t care. The word Schindler should not be in this movie. I’m just saying. That one’s not going to cut the mustard. Probably not Platoon. Quick and the Dead. Yeah, there’s nothing really funny in it.
SPEAKER 03 :
Quick and the Dead, I don’t think so.
SPEAKER 20 :
There’s a few funny moments in there, but it’s not really a comedy.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. Tombstone has funny moments, but no. It’s not a comedy.
SPEAKER 20 :
So you get the drift. So send us your favorite comedies. 307-282-22. Again, it is our text line, 307-282-22. And we’ll be back. We’ll get rolling along here in just a minute. Don’t go anywhere. Myself, Andy, Charlie, my son Richard should join us for movies as well. We’ll be back in a moment. This is Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 1 :
Average Guys. Ordinary Average Guys.
