HR1 Jugging: The New Robbery Tactic. Texting & Chinese. Midlife Metabolism Mystery Solved. 10-15-25 by John Rush
SPEAKER 10 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 08 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes. With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 05 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did!
SPEAKER 07 :
Get a job, Turk! You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 16 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 07 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 10 :
I am Hans. And I am Franz. And we just want to pop you off. Welcome to Health and Wellness Wednesdays on Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 11 :
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, sir.
SPEAKER 09 :
I have what doctors call a little bit of a weight problem. I used to grab bear claws as a kid, two at a time, and I’d get them lodged right in this region here.
SPEAKER 12 :
Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.
SPEAKER 01 :
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
SPEAKER 18 :
I’m sorry that I’m fat.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, and it is Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Health and Wellness Wednesday. David Gonzalez with me here to get things fired off today. David, how are you? I’m doing good, John. How about yourself? I’m doing very well. Been a busy week, man. Hey, since you’re looking at that computer keyboard over there, can you hit, like, the F1 key really quick for me? You’re the man. Thank you. We had to reboot the computer in here in the studio, and I’m not close enough to the keyboard because I keep it a long way away, and David’s right next to it. So, David, thank you. Appreciate that. All right, talk to us about gold, the price of. Wow.
SPEAKER 18 :
It just continues to run. So gold is a little over 4,200 an ounce, so the highest it’s ever been.
SPEAKER 03 :
Last time you and I talked, it was like 3,800 or something.
SPEAKER 18 :
3,800 last time I was here, which was a month. So, wow. And silver’s up over 53, so both are setting records right now.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 18 :
So, yeah, busy time. The phones are ringing, and both on the buy side and on the sell side. So we’re getting a lot of phone calls, people wanting to invest in precious metals, which we certainly can do that.
SPEAKER 03 :
And I think we’ve never really mentioned this in particular, but I think it’s important to mention that for all of you listening, keep in mind that, and this is something that’s across the board, not just with David but with anybody else, Even though gold is at 4,200 an ounce, if you have an ounce of gold, you’re not likely to get 4,200 an ounce out of that because people have to handle the processing of and depending upon how that gold is sitting. In other words, is it actually in gold bullion? Is it in a piece of jewelry? You know, what’s it in? I mean, just because I think there’s misconception just because. It’s at that price per ounce doesn’t necessarily mean that if you’ve got an ounce of gold, because first of all, most jewelry and so on isn’t pure gold, which is what that 4,200-ounce is based on, correct?
SPEAKER 18 :
Exactly. Yeah, and what’s really interesting, so I think I’ve told you I just celebrated 36 years in the precious metals business in August. And one of the things that we’re seeing right now, it’s kind of that perfect storm. You’ve got the price of gold and silver setting records, and then you have the largest wealth transfer in the history of mankind with the baby boomers passing away and the gold and silver going on to the beneficiaries and the beneficiaries liquidating that gold and silver. There is an overwhelming amount of supply of gold and silver on the market right now. And so what’s happening is we’re actually seeing things sell at discounts. So the strangest thing in the world where we’re liquidating silver, some gold, under the spot price, and it’s pure gold. So, yes, there’s challenges for sure.
SPEAKER 03 :
And I wanted to say that because I think there’s this – David that well you know I’ve got all of this stuff this gold and whatever and even some coins and so on and that’s great and by the way it’s good that you do nothing wrong with that and David can help you with the values of and so on but I think it’s sort of like And I always compare things to cars because it’s my world and it’s what I live in, as you know. But it’s sort of like, okay, I know I see this car listed at, I’ll use the round number, $25,000. Well, just because it’s listed for that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bringing that. And that’s not your car. So just because you might be able to compare it with that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to bring that if you’re going to go out to the market and actually sell it.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, and there’s a difference between the bid and the ask, what you can buy stuff for and what you sell it for.
SPEAKER 03 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 18 :
There’s a spread in there. Yeah, it’s an interesting market just to see just the amount of activity that’s happening. But with that said, there isn’t anyone that comes in, whether they’re liquidating a sterling flatware T-set or silverware set or – jewelry, whatever it is, that they are not just surprised at what they’re getting at the end of the day, what we’re writing the checks for. Um, especially on the gold side, it just doesn’t take much to equal, you know, a thousand dollars or $5,000. It just, it just doesn’t take a lot of it right now. So always encourage people, um, you know, just to check out what you have. And, you know, I think you showed me a pocket watch the other day, um, if I remember right. And it was, it was gold and, you know, got a fair amount of money just in the, in the gold content.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, so when it comes to all of that and folks listening, most of all, don’t try to figure this out on your own. The Internet can be a great friend. It can also be a great foe. Bottom line, come see you and figure out exactly what this stuff is worth.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, absolutely. Just get the information. You may not be quite ready to do something with it, but figure out what you have. Is it real? Is it costume jewelry? Is it silver plated stuff? And we don’t charge for those appraisals. So bring your stuff in. It’s a pleasant experience. You’ll come into our conference room. You’ll lay stuff out. You’ll be able to ask questions. We’re not your typical shop type company, professional environment. And yeah, just get the info and then, you know, decide what you decide when you decide.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. So for those of you listening, phone number 720-370-3400. You can always go to the website, klzradio.com, or my website, rushtoreason.com, and find David there as well. Now, when it comes to things that people – you’ve got a story where people think, well, you know, I’ve got this item, and I think it’s worth about X. Well, maybe, maybe not.
SPEAKER 18 :
Maybe, maybe not. Yeah, we got a call late last week, and it was a – you’ve probably heard the brand Tag Heuer. Oh, yeah. Well, before Tag bought Heuer, which I think was in 1983, something like that, it was just Heuer. So a client sent us pictures and was hoping, you know, $300, $400, whatever. It had a lot of wear. The watch was made in the 1960s, really didn’t have high expectations. Well, that watch ended up being worth about $7,800. Wow. And so – Yeah, especially on the watches. You get into those older Swiss-made watches, and especially on the Rolexes. Oftentimes, a 20-year-old Rolex is worth more than what they paid for it with all the wear and everything else with it.
SPEAKER 03 :
Sure, because of inflation and other things, what new ones cost. And sometimes the older ones will hold their value better than some of the new ones do and so on. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER 03 :
Just the way it works. Okay, so again, free appraisals. I know we say that a lot, but it’s sincere, folks. Believe me, we’re not just saying that to say that. David wants to help you determine what is the value, what’s that value of the things that you actually are holding on to, and then you can make that decision. I say this a lot, and again, mean it. You can then be the decision maker. And I think the other thing, too, to note here is, let’s say that you’ve got certain pieces where, you know what, I’m fine parting with those, but I want to keep these. David, do whatever they want to at the end of the day. It’s their stuff.
SPEAKER 18 :
Absolutely. Yeah. Like I said, just come in, get the information, and then whatever you decide to do is what you decide to do.
SPEAKER 03 :
And, for example, some of you might have some jewelry where you’re like, you know, I don’t really need the gold, but I want to hang on to that diamond because it was Grandma’s. Maybe you don’t like the setting that it was in. Okay. Great. Because, by the way, Grandma don’t care anymore. At the end of the day, you do what you want to do, and you decide what you want to do moving forward. And David can help you make some of those decisions based on the values of what you have.
SPEAKER 18 :
And we can even do the stone removal for you, too. Perfect. But, yeah, absolutely. Come on in. We’d love to meet you and help you with whatever you have.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. There you go. Mile High Coin, folks. Again, 720-370-3400. Do you want to mention what you’ve got coming up in the future in regards to being able to do this a little bit more?
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, we’re going to be launching a show, a 30-minute show. I believe it’s going to be on Wednesdays. Tuesdays, actually, but that’s okay. Tuesday. That’s all right. It tells you where my head is. That’s all right. And it’s really the show is going to be designed just to help people understand what they may have of value, treasure hunting stories, just all the things that I’ve run into over the last 36 years of what people have brought in.
SPEAKER 03 :
And for those of you listening, in hopes that some of you will think, well, you know, maybe I’ve got some of these things around that I didn’t really think had value, but encourage you to start digging around the house and find some of these things and at least get it one place.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, and it’s not just going to be about precious metals. It’s, you know, we venture off into all types of different things, whether it’s baseball cards or, you know, I think I shared with you that – had a client bring in an Elvis signature and didn’t realize that that Elvis signature is probably worth about 5,000 bucks. So, but yeah, looking forward to getting the show off the ground and we’re working on it now to, to launch it here, I think in the next, not next week, but the following week.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. So those of you listening, I’ll keep you updated on it too. As we get a little closer, I’ll talk about that in some of my nurtures and things when I talk about David and Mile High Coins. So rest assured, you’ll know for sure when that’s coming. But David, I appreciate you. Thank you for all you do for us and our listeners. I appreciate it greatly.
SPEAKER 18 :
Thank you, John. It’s a pleasure.
SPEAKER 03 :
Good man. Appreciate you. Again, all you listening, 720-370-3400. Do you want to put him first, Charlie, really quick since we’ve got him coming up next anyway? So we’ll do that. SPEAKER 10 :
Listen online. klzradio.com. Back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Okay, to go along with, and I didn’t do this on purpose, but it worked out this way. And there’s a term now, and I didn’t know what this was. And I kind of knew about it, but I didn’t know the actual term. But caller police now are warning people. This is to do with health and wellness, by the way. So was David, because a lot of you have things kicking around the house whereby you could make yourself a little bit more financially sound, which, again, goes to the whole health end of things, not just financial health, but your physical health as well, your well-being. Caller police are warning of jugging. Now, not juggling, but jugging. J-U-G-G-I-N-G. Have you ever heard of that term before, Charlie? No, Charlie has not heard of it, meaning a lot of you probably haven’t heard of it either. I hadn’t either. But jugging is, let me just read this to you. Numerous police departments in Colorado warning residents of a new type of robbery that has been taking place recently. According to the Lakewood Police Department, criminals are taking money from unsuspected victims after they have gone to the bank or an ATM. So what I’m talking about with David is, by the way, this will spread. People going into pawn shops and they know they’re coming out with cash and things like that. I mean, those are sort of like a mini ATM for your stuff. The difference between this and David, of course, is everything you do with David is done in secret. Nobody knows where he’s at or where you’re going or what you’re doing and so on. It’ll be very hard for them to actually do this. But the new tactic, by the way, for these robberies called jugging. And there’s ways to prevent this, of course. I’ll talk about that. But jugging is a form of robbery when a suspect follows the victim immediately after withdrawing money from a financial institution, such as a bank, ATM, or a check-cashing store. I’m going to add to that. I think you’re going to see this go into even pawn shops, coin shops, things like that. Suspects usually follow the victim, and when they reach their next destination, this is when the suspect approaches and demands the money. Oftentimes, the perpetrator threatens the victim or uses violence to steal the money, especially if the cash is visible. Lakewood Police Department says that jugging suspects utilize everyday vehicles to blend in, and the best thing to look out for is behavior as an indicator. Look for vehicles that could be loitering near banks, even taking photos or using binoculars to view what is happening with a cash withdrawal. Also, you should be aware of your surroundings after leaving the bank, as these criminals will follow your vehicle to the next location. Again, yes, this is health and wellness because this really has to do with your well-being. There’s been situations. There was an article here just the other day I read in 9 News whereby somebody lost $4,000. They had withdrawn that, and somebody was watching what was going on, and they lost all of their money. And by the way, the chances of finding that again, it’s going to be slim to none. It’s cash, meaning unless they can actually find the perpetrator, it’s a done deal. So as this article is talking about, be aware of your surroundings. Watch what’s going on, you know, everywhere. You really in these particular situations, you’ve got to have your head on a swivel. And by the way, folks, this includes some of you where you may be going to buy something. You’re going to buy something on, you know, marketplace. Maybe you’re buying a car or any other item, motorcycles, et cetera. And there’s a substantial amount of money that you’ve withdrawn to actually go do that because the person you’re buying from wants cash, which I don’t blame them for. So, by the way, this goes for you. This hasn’t happened yet, but I could see this. You’re the one going to buy the car. Somebody has been watching you go and actually buy said car. They watch the money exchange hands because a lot of times this isn’t taking place at somebody’s home, which I would highly recommend it doesn’t. It takes place in other places, quote unquote, well-lit, well-traveled areas. Well, keep in mind, all of those areas also have people watching. And if this person has been watching the person actually go and get all the money out of the bank and they now come and watch them give it to you, and they drive away with whatever said item it is, you now have all that cash, they know that. They’ve watched the transaction happen. Even if it’s an envelope, typically even if an envelope’s handed over, somebody’s counting because you want to make sure that it’s accurate. So the point with all this, and I might even talk about this a little bit more on Saturday on Drive Radio, is not only be aware of your surroundings, but where are your surroundings? So if you’re going to do one of these transactions, by the way, where are you doing it at? Are you at a police station, which I’m not trying to be mean or rude here, but that’s not any guarantee something’s not going to happen. They could be watching with binoculars that you went to the police station, but now all of a sudden you’ve left the police station with cash in hand and your next stop is to go wherever. And most people don’t deposit cash into their banks, so you may be just going to the next place of business that you were going to, and voila, somebody’s there following you. And I could see this getting larger to where there’s even now teams, and they’re communicating, talking back and forth. Hey, yeah, watch out for this particular vehicle. Here’s the description, blah, blah, blah. I just saw them exchange a pretty good sum of money, and voila, they now have it. You know, desperate times, which things are, and let’s face it, we’re not getting any better along those lines, especially when it comes to crime in this Colorado area because of the leadership that we have or the lack of, let me say it that way, the lack of leadership that we have across our state. Is this going to grow? Yeah, I can see this growing. I really don’t see this slowing down. So here’s a few steps that they talk about, which I’ve just mentioned. Stay vigilant in your surroundings. Don’t leave cash in your vehicle. Yeah, that’s a big one, by the way. In fact, I wouldn’t leave it anywhere on you. Unless you’ve got some sort of a lockable safe or something like that that’s in your vehicle, okay, at that point you might be able to leave the cash. But I would just have it on you, hidden, where nobody knows where it is. And also change routes. in your commutes from work to home. In other words, somebody might be watching you for a couple of days. They might start seeing your patterns. They know that that money never went to the bank, by the way. They know the money’s now in your house, and this is how robberies can take place even in your home. They know that that cash never went to the bank, so now that cash is at your place, and you get my drift. And I cannot stress enough that you’ve got to be ultra careful with all of these sorts of things. And some of you that are listening to me, you know full well what I’m talking about. And you that are business owners, where you bring cash in on a routine basis, and that cash then has to be deposited and, and, and. And I know a lot of things are done credit card-wise now, but in a lot of cases, there’s still cash that goes to the bank. Be very careful there. When it comes to all of those things, okay? My wife says I’m scaring people and going to the bank. Well, I just want you all to be aware that there’s people watching what you’re doing, okay? I’m not trying to scare anybody, but just be aware of the things that are going around, okay? At the end of the day, I want you to be safe. This is health and wellness, and I want you to be healthy and well in life, okay? And we live in a day and age where there is a total lack of respect for others, others’ belongings, others’ lives. I can go down the list. There’s individuals out there that, honestly, they don’t care. They were not raised and taught the way that I and most of you listening have been, where we value things. We value each other. I mean, I’m one of those people where, and a lot of you listening are the same way. You know, if you left your keys in the car and I walked by, I might mention to you that, hey, your keys are still in the car, but I’m not touching your car. I don’t care if it’s left. I don’t care if the windows are down, the keys are in. I’m not touching it. It’s not my stuff. That’s not how I was raised. Or that’s how I was raised, I should say. I was raised to not touch those things. That’s how I was raised. My folks, my dad especially, if you don’t own it, it’s not yours. Don’t touch it. Don’t mess with it. I don’t care if there’s a $10,000 brick sitting on somebody’s lawn chair and you’re at the beach. It’s not yours. You don’t touch it. That’s how I was raised. That’s not how, unfortunately, a lot of the world was raised, the world around us. So you have to be diligent and vigilant with everything that you have going on around you. You know, be watching for others like this particular article talks about. Be looking for those people that might be loitering in a parking lot or they might be making rounds. And, yeah, they could be there waiting for somebody or they could be there waiting for you. You don’t have any idea. And, you know, if in doubt, call the cops. Hey, you know what? I’ve got a pretty good sum of money on me. I just came out of the bank. I noticed there’s some folks that are kind of loitering around. I’m not really sure what they’re doing. I don’t feel comfortable right now. What should I do? They’ll tell you. They’ll tell you what to do. But this, by the way, should be happening as you’re going into the establishment that it is that you’re getting the cash from or whatever you happen to be doing. You need to be paying attention as you walk back out the door, be looking around. And again, this is another one of those where if you don’t feel safe walking out the door, don’t. Stay inside that establishment. Call the cops from there. Everybody has a cell phone on them. You should anyways. Don’t leave your cell phone in the car either. Keep it with you. Anymore, it’s sort of your lifeline. I mean, you’ve got the ability to call and get help from that as fast as you do anything else. So, again, don’t take things for granted. Don’t go along with this attitude of, oh, nothing’s ever going to happen to me. It can happen. Be aware of that. Be paying attention to what’s going on. And again, if you don’t feel comfortable about something, then don’t do it. So again, it’s called jugging. J-U-G-G-I-N-G might be the first time you’ve heard about it because I can tell you from reading articles over the last couple of days, I’d never heard this term. I knew these sorts of things happened, but I didn’t know they actually had a name for it, where the name comes from. I have no idea. Now, one more thing I want to throw in here. And this doesn’t surprise me. This is in the Wall Street Journal today, by the way. Chinese criminals have made more than $1 billion. That’s a B. $1 billion from those annoying texts that are reminding you to pay your unpaid toll. This is another health and wellness, financially speaking. You guys get these texts on a regular basis. I know I do. I’ve tried to block the majority of them, but you still get them. You owe parking tickets. You owe a toll ticket, whatever the case may be. You don’t. Trust me, the highway authority around here, 470, whatever they call it, Northwest Parkway, whatever, they all go by different names, Express Toll, whatever. They don’t do that. You typically get a statement that’s mailed to you if you’re a part of that. Well, even if you’re not, if you drive on the road, you’re going to get something sent to you that says you owe money for using that toll. Whether you have a pass or not, you’re going to get something that comes in the mail to you saying so. They don’t email. Trust me, I’m an account holder. They don’t email. They don’t send text messages. So there’s nothing that they’re going to send you via text message that says you owe XYZ on said toll. So, again, Chinese company or Chinese criminals, I should say, probably a company wide of them. One billion dollars from those from those text messages. What does that tell you? People answer those. Unfortunately, people go to their link and they pay. And by the way, once they do, they steal your credit card information at the same time. So not only do you pay them and they get that money. You can dispute it on your card, of course, but in some cases, it’s a done deal at that point. They’ve extracted the money, and the credit card company is going to eat that. We’re all going to pay. But at the end of the day, they got the money. And this article in The Wall Street Journal is talking about $1 billion they have made. off of that so point being watch for the scams uh don’t click on things you don’t know don’t open emails that you don’t know it might look very enticing your curiosity gets up you want to go ahead and answer it a text message comes through you don’t know who it’s from so you answer back just don’t most of the newer phones today at least i know mine On an iPhone, Charlie, I don’t know about your Android, but if a message comes in and you don’t know it, you have the ability to not only decline that message or to delete that message, but to report it as spam as well. Do you have that option now, Charlie, as well? He does also. So all of you listening, on modern smartphones, you have that ability. If it’s a message you’re deleting, it’ll ask you, delete or delete and report as spam. If it’s not something that I know where it came from, it’s a delete and report as spam. I highly recommend that you do that moving forward. All right, Ridgeline Auto Brokers, speaking of cars and so on, and I’ll just throw this out there. SPEAKER 03 :
And we are back. Rush to Reason, Debra’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560 Health and Wellness Wednesday. Dr. Julie Gatz is joining us now. Dr. Julie, welcome back.
SPEAKER 15 :
Hi, thanks for having me here.
SPEAKER 03 :
Always a joy. All right, the midlife metabolism mystery, why big meals suddenly feel bigger. Talk to us about that.
SPEAKER 15 :
As we age, we aren’t making the same amount of digestive enzymes that we did as a kid. So we aren’t able to break down and process the food that we’re eating, and when you continue to eat the same amount that you did when you were younger, you will have more undigested food, more symptoms, gas, bloating, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, acid reflux, and it’s because our enzyme production is low, so that is the biggest reason that I’ve seen with most people.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, why, and dumb question maybe on my part, but why does it slow down?
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, what happens is your system isn’t making the same amount of enzymes. Okay. Let’s say you ate a huge piece of, you know, a huge steak before.
SPEAKER 04 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 15 :
Now you eat a huge steak, and you’re like, oh, my goodness, I overate. Then you had the baked potato. And all those things that you used to be able to process, you no longer can break it down. We make enzymes to break down our protein and our carbohydrates, and our food source has gotten worse. less than adequate, our farming situation, the food that we’re actually eating. So we’re not eating quite as good of food as we used to, to say the least. So this enzyme production in our body is decreased because of that. You’re hard-pressed to find somebody in normal life that has perfect digestion. And so things are slowing down. People are putting weight on. They’re not feeling as good as they used to. Hormonal system is getting altered. And now we have a bunch of Americans who struggle with weight, and it’s not because we’re fat and lazy Americans. It’s because our food source is so poor, and our digestive enzymes aren’t being made the way they’re supposed to.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. So is it all age, or is it a combination of everything you just said?
SPEAKER 15 :
It’s a combination of everything, because we’re seeing it in the kids, too. Okay. Kids still have a chance because their systems are young and youthful and working, but they’re being fed a whole source of food that I didn’t have when I was a kid. So I was able to have building blocks that You know, our kids now, they don’t have available to them in general.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. So it’s not just age. It can affect even young people differently than even you and I were young, for example. So at the end of the day, you know, you may eat something that even a few years ago you may have ate and said, well, it doesn’t bother me, but it sure does today. That’s not you. That can be a lot of factors, I guess, is what I’m trying to get at.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, it’s a ton of factors. You know, the other thing is it does have to do with, you know, What are the choices of the food that you’re eating? How sedentary are you? What are your other habits? Medications and things like that really alter it. We’re much more medicated than we used to be. It used to be Tums and Rolaids and Maalox and things like that. Now you’ve got just a grocery list of drugs that people are taking for digestion. And really the problem is we’re not making enough enzymes anymore. And, you know, I’ve been solving that for 34 years by giving my patients high-quality digestive enzymes, insisting even healthy patients take them so that they get more nutrition every meal. And the unhealthy ones, if they don’t want to change their diet, at least they’ll have a chance to break down some of the gunk that they’re putting in and not suffer so much because of it. You know, I don’t encourage keep eating poorly. But, you know, you do find you feel better if you’re going to go out, you know, eat a whole – let’s just say thanksgiving meal with everything and overeat well my goodness take the enzymes take the enzymes you will feel so much better at the end of the night and want to participate with the family
SPEAKER 03 :
I’m getting to the point, and maybe, again, because I’m just getting older and I’m not sure wiser is the right word, Dr. Julie, I think just a conversation you and I have had over the course of now a couple of years, I think for me I’m getting to the point where it’s like, you know, as much as everything looks great and it is and it’s tasty and, yes, it is, but, you know, the ramifications afterwards are such where it’s like, yeah, I know it tastes really good, but – at the end of the day do i really want that so i think for me i’ve learned that you know maybe a taste of that is okay but i can’t have you know too much of that because if you do then you don’t feel very well afterwards and i’m so tired of not feeling well after that that i don’t anymore i just don’t partake like i once did and of course the enzymes which we’ll get to in a minute i know that helps greatly but i have found that even though they help a ton you know i just don’t put it in your mouth in the first place and i know that sounds really elementary but it
SPEAKER 15 :
It kind of is. I mean, it really is. And, you know, I do think that as we’re aware of digestion and our bodies and, you know, wanting to improve, you do sort of sort out the, you know, what should I do and what shouldn’t I do? You do, you know, because you don’t want to suffer with what it is that it’s going to, you know, cause repercussions.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, it’s sort of like – I’m trying to describe other things that we might do in life where you just overdo it. And I think for me on the food side especially, I think most people can relate to that because it’s one of those things that you literally can say, geez, I really overdid it. Or maybe another example of that is you’re somebody that never exercises, so you’re going to get into the mode of exercising, which as anybody would – know and tell you, you can’t go all out the first time, because if you do, you’re not going to walk the next day, because the ramifications are such that your body’s not used to that, so you’re really going to pay for it the next day. So you take that slowly. I think in a lot of ways, Dr. Julie, overeating can be very much the same way.
SPEAKER 15 :
I think exactly the truth on that one. So, you know, you’re wise on that one, and you do start to pay a little bit more mind on what it is that you should be doing, shouldn’t be doing, and But the digestive enzymes for me is such a nice trick because even people suffering with acid reflux way after the meal. Or, you know, oh, my gosh, I’ve got to go get something for it, you know, take a couple of enzymes, take three or four of them, and watch it go away within the next 15 or 20 minutes.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, I had a question even that came in after you were on with us the last time. So let’s talk about the enzymes and AbsorbAid, and then there’s two different forms of it now of what people are noting, and there’s like the regular and there’s like the super-duper ones. You know, talk about that, and is there any major differences?
SPEAKER 15 :
There actually is. In the regular ones, it’s the basic formula that I’ve basically been saying to my patients, this is the one that you need to take when you’re just wanting a basic enzyme. It has the ability to break down proteins and carbohydrates and vegetables, including dairy products. So it does a bang-up job. There may be equal companies, but this one does exactly what it should do as far as digestive enzymes. Then they have one that is called the platinum. It’s absorbate platinum, and it has 12 different things in it. It’s like the enzymes on steroids. It’s got a bunch more enzymes. It’s got probiotics in it. And, you know, for people who, you know, are having digestive problems, who really want to break down the meal even more so and see the differences. There is a difference in the two, but it doesn’t want to lessen the one that’s the basic.
SPEAKER 03 :
And for those of you listening, and I always get this question, which one do you take, John? And I don’t know. I guess because I understand the quality of things and I’ve been in that good, better, best world for so long on the retail end of things my whole life, Dr. Julie, that I understand the value of value. best and typically it’s not always that way but in this case it is so I’m just I’m one of those folks because there’s not that much difference in the cost sides of things I just buy the platinum and use it yeah I mean I do both you know I sell them both in the office and whenever I’m low I just I grab whatever and so I always have one or the other at the house and you know when I am feeling like whoo
SPEAKER 15 :
I do take the platinum, but it’s a 50-50 for me.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. Now, for those of you listening, and I’m one of those guys too, Dr. Julie, I have this phobia, partially because of how I was raised. I have this phobia of it’s called phoro, fear of running out. So I’m one of those where I don’t just have one bottle. I’ll have a couple. You know, one or two spares always because it’s just me. So I don’t run out because of that. And again, because of that, I just buy the platinum and I always have a couple of bottles on hand. And for those of you listening, I take it. And I know I’ve mentioned this before. Maybe you’re just picking this up for the first time today. I take it at night before bed. And, you know, depending upon how the day goes and what I’m doing and so on, I’m kind of a faster. As you know, I don’t do a lot during the day, but maybe I’ll take one during the day if I feel like I need to. For all of you listening, I’m here to tell you it’s one of the best things you can ever do, and I think it’s a great sleep aid as well.
SPEAKER 15 :
Me too. I mean, I was out gardening the other day. I was so achy and stiff, and my hands were killing me, and I took a couple before I went to bed, and I was just pleasantly surprised that I wasn’t so uncomfortable, and I did sleep better because of it. Those enzymes have the ability to break down inflammation when you’re not putting food in the belly. It has the ability to break down poisons and toxins and viruses, so Whenever I feel a little under the weather, I pop the enzymes. When I’ve overdone it, I pop the enzymes. And because it’s an all-vegan formula, it’s simply like eating the bromelain from the pineapple and the papaya and all the different things that they’ve thrown in there that are all natural. Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay, so you said a moment ago, you pop one, you pop two. Normally for me, it’s like you one or two, depending upon what I ate and how I feel and so on. Typically for me, it’s just one at night before I go to bed. Can you overdose on these things, I guess is my question.
SPEAKER 15 :
You probably can. I’ve never tried and I’ve never heard of it.
SPEAKER 03 :
You’d have to take a bunch, though, to really feel bad taking them, right?
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, and you’d probably get a bellyache, but it is all natural vegetables and fruit and things like that, so it’s not a drug.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. Okay. Talk to us about the food side, because I know it’s something that does correlate with what we’re talking about. And again, the better you can regulate the things going in, I kind of look at it. like this, Dr. Julie, again, being kind of a car guy coming out of my background and so on, you know, filters. Filters are a big thing, you know, you have them for air, you have them for oil, other things. And filters are necessary for, you know, the lifeblood of the vehicle. And, you know, filters can get dirty. I also know that the cleaner you keep things going in, the less the filter has to do going out. And at the end of the day, things just work better. I’m assuming when we start talking about our gut, the things we put in matter because the more crap we put in, the more work it has to do on the way out per se.
SPEAKER 15 :
It’s absolutely true. And so I always take a look when I’m trying to convince somebody to follow my program, which is just quite simple as far as food goes. I say it’s like somebody dumped a two-year-old, a sick two-year-old off at your front door and you’re supposed to fix them naturally. Okay, what are you going to fix? What are you going to make them? You’re going to make them protein. You’re going to make them cooked steamed vegetables. You’re going to give him some fruit. You’re going to feed him water. And those are the foods that are actually going to repair the body. So when you start giving them cereal and bread and coffee and sports drinks and Doritos and things in packages and boxes and cans, I mean, I’m focused all these years that I’ve been doctoring on digestion. And even I am Very surprised at how quickly digestion can change with somebody when they just do the right things for even a week long. A week long, they’re like, oh, my goodness, I’m not constipated. I feel much better. I’m not bloated. And it’s just it’s so simple. And you really can eat quite well. I mean, you’re going to eat like a king if you eat that way.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, talk to us about fiber. That’s another thing where I think there’s, I was mentioning this to somebody the other day, and I got to tell you this because, you know, we talk so much about these things. So, you know, my dad’s been having some issues getting towards the end of life. He has Alzheimer’s and so on. So I spent a bunch of time this weekend at his facility. And, you know, in a lot of cases, Dr. Julie, you’re just really, you’re sitting and monitoring and trying to spend time and so on. And, you know, let’s be honest, there’s a TV in the room and it’s kind of on in the background. And I told my wife at one point, I’m like, you know, I’ve been watching this same channel, and it’s just kind of on repeat, if you would. And I get it. In a lot of cases, the same commercials are going to pop in. But I told her, I said, you know, there isn’t one single commercial involving food that I’ve watched in the past several hours that isn’t crap at the end of the day. None of what’s been advertised should you be eating in the first place.
SPEAKER 15 :
It’s unbelievable.
SPEAKER 03 :
And I don’t watch a lot of TV, so that one was kind of a new one for me, Dr. Julie.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, I don’t either, but I am just aghast at the fact that just normal stuff isn’t advertised. You can see how these minds are being changed because of the fact that all they’re seeing is to be happy, to have the best time, to have the most taste. You have to go and drink all these weird drinks and have all this food that’s You know, I mean, there’s a lot of ingredients that are really just toxic, poisonous and just, you know, really.
SPEAKER 03 :
And the reason I mention that is one of the ads was a cereal ad. And by the way, it’s a cereal that, you know, I won’t name the name because I don’t want to be derogatory that way. But it was a cereal, by the way, that I wouldn’t touch. I wouldn’t eat because I know what’s inside of it. And yet it’s being advertised as, oh, this is high fiber. It’s healthy for you. It’s going to help you feel better. This, that and the other. And I’m thinking to myself after talking to you all these years, no, it won’t.
SPEAKER 15 :
I know. It’s quite amazing. And, you know, what happens with that is then, you know, parents are feeding the kids cereal and the kids are like, hey, I need cereal before breakfast. And then you’re expecting the kids to play nice, be smart. Pay attention. And really, you’ve just taken away their ability to possibly participate and, you know, act normal. And then they have behavioral problems. And really what they are is just being fed poor food.
SPEAKER 04 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 15 :
So, you know, feed them some eggs, feed them some bacon, feed them some, you know, more eggs, whatever. Feed them last night’s dinner. And you’re going to find that your kid is, you know, smarter and, you know, has great behavior and sleeps well and isn’t fidgety and whatever. You know, it’s just the food.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s amazing. Okay, so the fiber question, though, this comes up a lot because a lot of commercials talk about fiber and get your fiber. And this equals X amount of your daily need and this, that, and the other. Although the things that I’m looking at, again, as I said a moment ago, these are items that, frankly, I wouldn’t eat whether you wanted the fiber, needed the fiber or not. And I think there’s misconception on what should we eat. And this is where I’m going with this. What should we eat to get fiber? Because I don’t think it’s what TV says.
SPEAKER 15 :
No, it’s not. And there is fiber in grains, but I always think of fiber as vegetables. I mean, that’s your broccoli, your cauliflower, your asparagus. Every one of the vegetables has fiber. That is the thing that if you’re constipated, you will actually have normal bowel movements. This is the thing that your body does need to help clean out the rest of the system. We’re not talking popcorn and grains and another roll and another piece of pizza. That is carbohydrates. that, you know, do have fiber in them, but that’s not what you would feed that two-year-old kid.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. All right. Healthy fats. That’s another one where, again, that’s one thing I’ve learned a lot of here lately with my dad and his Alzheimer’s and dementia and so on is our brains need a certain amount of healthy fat because that’s what it consists of and it needs that and it feeds off of it. And yet, in a lot of ways, because, again, of television and training and so on, we’re not getting the right kind of fats today.
SPEAKER 15 :
That’s true. So, you know, the healthy fats come in the form of avocado and as much fish as you can eat, vary your fish just because you don’t want to eat it from the same source. You know, we do have, you know, not clean oceans and things like that. You know, you can get them from, you know, good olive oil and, you know, there’s a lot of olive oils that aren’t so great that you do want to, you know, spend the extra money and use that on your vegetables, use that on your salads. You could use avocado oil and things like that. So, There’s just, you know, endless amounts of lists of them. And once you actually understand, you go, oh, you know, like, I’m sorry, I have to say this one. Hellman’s mayonnaise. I’m so sad. It is the best tasting mayonnaise ever. And yet it has, you know, seed oils and it’s, you know, not the healthiest of foods, but it’s in the basis of all the recipes we grew up with.
SPEAKER 04 :
Mm hmm.
SPEAKER 15 :
So, you know, I’m learning to make my own mayonnaise just so that I, you know, can put in what I want to put in and, you know, feel good about, you know, making a cucumber salad or potato salad or whatever I need the mayonnaise for tuna.
SPEAKER 03 :
You just brought up a great point, too, and something I learned when I lost all of my weight back in 2010 was condiments, you really have to be careful because you’re thinking, oh, I’m just putting a little bit of this and a little bit of that on. Well, by the time it’s all said and done, you’ve put a lot more on than you think. And most condiments in general, ketchup, for example, not good for you.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, I mean, it’s true. When you really do look at the ingredients and then look at the calories and look at the sugar and, you know, I don’t read labels like crazy. I think mostly because I used to and now I know what’s in it.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right.
SPEAKER 15 :
Right. But, you know, you get on any app and just take a look at, you know, some of the very basics. And, you know, I love… nuts and things like that, but the best way to actually have the nuts, especially something like almonds, is you don’t just eat the almonds out of the package. You want to put them in a bowl of water, soak them overnight, pop the skin off, and now you actually have a nut that’s absorbable, it’s good for you, it’s high in protein, but when you see that pile of skin sitting there, it looks like pencil shavings. And you’re like, wow, how could I possibly break that down? Eating wood.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 15 :
That’s right. So nuts are better when they’re soaked overnight, and that’s because it does release enzymes in the nuts that make them available to your system.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. All right. Lastly, of course, two things, water and moving. In other words, water and exercise. Talk to us about that before we close out.
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, by the time that you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. So if you wake up in the morning, have two glasses of water, just force yourself. It costs nothing. It costs no time and no money to do that. You drink a couple of glasses of water. When you’re a little hungry after breakfast, have another glass of water. If you’ve had lunch and you’re hungry after lunch, have another glass of water. You’re supposed to be getting 8 to 10 to 12 glasses in a day. We’re talking cups. And, you know, that’s not hard stretch. You just have to remember to do it. If your knees are achy and you have bags under the eyes and your joints ache and you’re tired and fatigued, you are usually dehydrated. So, you know, the other thing is we, you know, Europeans have a tendency to eat and then walk, have their dinner, go out for a walk. If you could put your tennis shoes on when you come home from work, cook your dinner and don’t even think about it. Just go for a walk. A 10 minute, take your watch, go out 10 minutes, turn around, come back 10 minutes. It increases the lymph in the body, which is the drainage system. It makes nutrition more available to the body. It allows digestion to work better. It allows you to sleep better. And it’s simply just moving. I’m not talking, you know, cleaning the house. I’m talking go for a walk. Right.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. All right. Last one before we let you go. We didn’t mention, where do folks get absorbate?
SPEAKER 15 :
They can go to the website, and they can get some free samples on there. That website is naturesources.com. And they can also get 20% off for free samples if they call the 1-800 number. And you have to just use the code radio so they know they listen to your show. And that’s 1-800-827-7656. Great.
