Join John Rush for an in-depth discussion on political ethics and the Colorado GOP’s need for strategic reorientation. With a blend of critique and caution, John also addresses safety concerns on the road, reflecting on past incidents involving trucking violations. This episode is packed with insights about integrity in leadership and the importance of staying informed and responsible in our digital age.
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 12 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 11 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
SPEAKER 04 :
Get a job first. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 07 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 03 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 06 :
All right, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Happy Monday, everybody. Question of the Day from Friday, who directed the 1979 sci-fi horror film Alien? That would be Ridley Scott. We talked about that on… friday today’s impossible question which river is the longest in europe which river is the longest in europe answer that on our social media facebook page today if you would rush to reason and again appreciate you all joining us on a monday Last Monday of the month, March the 31st. Tomorrow would be April Fool’s Day, which don’t get fooled tomorrow by all of the nonsense that can happen and gags and different things that are out. And as a side note, make sure that a lot of the things that you will see tomorrow on social media could most likely be false. And you will see every year, it’s this way, some outlandish whatever, story, you name it. I mean, all sorts of things that you’ll see posted tomorrow. Some of them might even start late this evening, heading into tomorrow for April Fool’s Day. And point being, if you know it’s a joke and you want to spread it as one, that’s fine. Although far too often those don’t get spread as jokes. They get spread as what some people feel are reality. And then, of course, who is the fool? the person that shared it thinking that it was actually real. And, I mean, you’ll see all sorts of things tomorrow that look very believable because the way we live in or the world we live in today, they can make a lot of things look very believable when it most likely is not. And you can always go fact check and do some research yourself. Typically within about, oh, a minute. maybe two, maybe less. In some cases, it’s as simple as typing in whatever it is you need to research out, and some of the results come right up and will tell you exactly whether that is false or not. But I would highly recommend that you do that tomorrow before sharing anything that you read on social media for April Fool’s Day. It doesn’t mean that there isn’t going to be some news and things that are real and things that will actually happen, but Just be careful what you’re sharing so that you don’t look like the fool when it’s all said and done that jokes on you. All right, over the weekend. We’ll talk more about this tomorrow when Andy is here, of course. But the change in leadership, which we knew there was going to be a change in leadership at the Colorado GOP helm anyways. But bigger change of leadership than I think anybody thought or predicted myself, Andy included. And I’ll just be straight up honest. Really didn’t think that the non-Davidians, the non-Davites, had what it took to actually have, in this case, Britta Horn. She is the new chair. She’s from the West Coast. And there’s also the vice chair is Lee Phelan. Phelan, I think is how you would say that. I don’t know the individual at all. And then Russ Andrews, who actually ran for a congressional seat. And we had actually interviewed Russ at one point in time. I like Russ, actually. He’s the secretary. So as far as I’m concerned, three very capable people to help redirect what’s been going on at the Colorado GOP. Of course, the Davidians are extremely, extremely upset over what’s gone on. And really what happened with them from, and I’ll have Andy help explain some of this more tomorrow, because he was actually there, was able to see everything firsthand, was a voting participant in that particular reorganizational meeting that happened on Saturday, and he was texting me throughout. And essentially, he was texting me as this was happening. Essentially what happened was the Davidians really felt like they had this thing in the bag, And that no matter what they did, they didn’t have enough opposition to make any difference, although they weren’t unified in the direction that they were headed with their particular candidate, candidate, candidates. Maybe I should say that plural because there was more than one. And so there was kind of a splintering. And I think it only took three rounds. Make sure I’m saying that correctly. I believe that’s right. It took three rounds to actually have Britta and the other two elected alongside her. I don’t know about the other two. Don’t quote me on that. It might have been a little bit longer for those two, but I know with Britta it was three rounds. And she was elected. And I read through a lot of the social media stuff that went on yesterday and even Saturday. And my name was brought up in a few different places, sometimes good, sometimes not so good. Ask me if I care. I don’t. I mean… Stones get thrown this way all the time. I really don’t care. I hope that myself and Andy had some positive influence on the outcome of this particular election because I had been calling for the removal of Dave Williams for almost two years. Not quite. About 23 months to be exact. It didn’t take me more than about a month into Dave’s leadership being at the helm of the Colorado GOP to realize what an absolute disaster that guy was. And frankly, he’s a, I’ll just tell it as it is, he’s a liar and a thief. Straight up. And yet when he came in, all he did was blame the old administration and claimed all sorts of financial malfeasance, which, by the way, I never could see in the FEC reports. I spent over an hour one day on a particular show running through the FEC reports showing that everything he had claimed just wasn’t true. Still has yet to be proven on paper to me. I would say, and I’ll ask Britta this, we’re going to interview her tomorrow in the very first segment tomorrow, 315, second segment, I should say. We’ll take a quick break and come in and talk to Britta tomorrow. But I would like to know, A, are we going to stop a lot of these nonsense lawsuits that really there’s been all sorts of money and retainers and things paid out? Can we get some of that money back? And then I would like to see some of that money not only spent to get candidates elected, but I’d like a full financial audit of what’s gone on over the past two years. Because I think there’s been a lot of insider nonsense that has gone on, you know, sort of pay to play and cronyism along those lines. The very things that that side accuses all of the quote unquote rhinos of, they did themselves. Which, unfortunately, much like the left, that’s what happens. You normally are doing the very things that you’re accusing the others of. And by the way, when it comes to Dave, the only thing I’ve really ever accused him of doing is, A, being a very poor leader, which he is. B, I don’t think he’s honest when it comes to all the monies and how things work internally in the Colorado GOP. And then lastly, he was always on the hunt to destroy whoever he could that was in opposition to him, which, again, is a poor leader. So my number one complaint with Dave is just bad, bad, bad leadership from the get-go. And some of you I know are probably yelling at the radio because you don’t believe me, but time’s going to show that I’m right. Already kind of has. I mean, you guys as the far hard right of the party, and I hate using that term because I’m very hardcore right myself. Only I’m more strategic in where I come from than a lot of you. In fact, I will just say it straight up. There is a lot of the folks in the Dave Williams camp, there is absolutely no strategy whatsoever. That was proven again on Saturday. And I can say that with full confidence because if you guys on Saturday would have actually had some strategy, you probably would have won. And somebody that you liked would have replaced Dave, not somebody you don’t like, i.e. Britta. Now, I like Britta. I think Britta will be fine. Again, I didn’t have a dog in that fight one way or the other. I wanted to see anybody but Dave and or somebody that would do exactly what Dave had been doing in that position. And as it turned out, that’s exactly what’s going to happen. And again, I’ve read all sorts of things across social media, whining, complaining. Some are very happy and ecstatic. They’re happy in the direction of the party now will be able to head. We’ve got some very key races coming up in 2026. It’s not as far away as people think. So Brita and the like have a lot of work to do over the course of the next 18 months, say. That’s about what it is. And that time will go by quickly, and they’re going to have to rally the troops. We’ll do what we can here to help along with that. And, again, it’s nice to see that there will be somebody in there that I do believe has some strategy and the ability to do some fundraising and some things like that. We’ll get an idea, hopefully, from Britta tomorrow. I don’t know exactly the financial shape that the party is in right now. I can look at the FEC report and get some indication, although it’s not always current today. you know, to date when you’re looking at that as to where things are at, how much is in the bank account, and so on. But we’ll get into more of that tomorrow. I’m not going to spend a lot of time on that. But reality is, yes, there was a big change over the weekend. Enough that there are parts of the party, the Rhino Watch folk and the Davidians, that are, I’m sure, trying to figure out exactly, you know, what do they do next? And I’ll just say it. I don’t put it past any of them to try to do whatever they can to sabotage things moving forward. That’s just the kind of individuals they are. They will do anything they possibly can to sabotage things moving forward. And I believe they will. Now, fortunately, because of what I said a moment ago, the fact that they don’t have much unity even amongst themselves and they don’t have a lot of strategy, that probably bodes well for Britta and her team moving forward because I don’t think there’s a lot that they’ll be able to accomplish because, A, there’s not enough of them, and, B, they’re just strategically inept. That was proven on Saturday. So I won’t say any more on that. We’ll see how things go with the party moving forward. Time always tells how well a new person coming in and the leadership of and how those things work out. I will say this. I’ve known Britta for quite some time. I think she will do fine at rallying the troops and getting people on board. There’s a lot of things that have to be done with fundraising and things along those lines, and there’s a lot of cleanup. Unfortunately with Britta, there is a lot of cleanup. that she’s now going to have to do in regards to where the party has come from and where it is today and where it needs to go in the future. SPEAKER 06 :
Now back to John Rush. All right. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Thanks for joining us today. I do appreciate it. Text line, yes, I see a couple of messages there. I’ll try to get to those as soon as I can. Again, when I’m by myself, it’s always a little bit more difficult because I don’t talk and type very well at all. I can read and talk typically at the same time, but I have not mastered the whole talking and typing. And I think, by the way, I think it’s one thing to… Talk and type what you’re talking about or saying, but to do something completely different, I think, becomes, at least for me in my brain, I can’t do it. So if you can do it, you’re much smarter than I, and I applaud you. Article out in the Rocky Mountain Voice that I thought was interesting because I call it like it is. And as you guys all know, I’ll call out either side for things that I think are not being done correctly. Now, I typically call out the left far more than the right. But, you know, you guys know, even internally as a party, I just spoke about a few things in that first segment. If there’s something that I don’t think is going on well on our side, I will bring it up. I’ll talk about it. I have no fear of doing that whatsoever. I call like it is. And I think there’s times on social media even to where I get sort of darts thrown at me, if you would, because somebody may not like what I said, although I’m just saying it like it is. For example, in that first hour, talking about the direction the GOP in Colorado was headed and what changes we need to make and where we need to go moving forward. And, by the way, I don’t think I was wrong in any of that, and I think time will tell. Now, there’s those out there, by the way, really quick, that will say that the last two years of winning is over. These are, by the way, very delusional individuals. that feel like some way somehow we’ve actually been winning the last two years when in fact the numbers show exactly the opposite in fact had it not been for some of the candidates going against the party in colorado the leadership in colorado we would have lost even more so and possibly may not even have retained the House in D.C. had the party, quote-unquote, gone along with what the state party wanted. So these delusional individuals, and literally they are, they’re delusional. For them to run around and saying that the winning is now over and, you know, look out, we’re going to have a huge loss in 2026. A, I think that’s very premature. B, that means you’re going to be part of the problem, not the solution. And C, you don’t know what winning is. Just be straight up honest. You don’t know what winning is. Okay, but I’m going to call it like it is. This is titled, again, coming out of the Rocky Mountain Voice. When public office becomes a family business on the taxpayer dime. So Elon Musk exposed the grift of the politically connected who abused their access and offices to convert public dollars to private gain using tax-funded NGOs, non-governmental organizations. Typically those are non-profits. In this case… the Rocky Mountain Voice has uncovered a local politician here in Colorado who appears to be doing just this. And both she and several family members are benefiting from this financially. So the politician here in this case is Lorena Garcia. She is the state house lawmaker for District 35, representing parts of Adams and Jeffco. She was appointed to the Colorado legislature in early 2023 after Adrian Benavidez resigned for unspecified reasons. The mess created by questionable resignations and vacancy appointments in Colorado is a topic for another day. Yeah, I’ve talked about that one plenty. Garcia is the executive director of an NGO called Colorado Statewide Parents Coalition, or CSPC. And she has a long-term career in the NGO industry. In other words, she has been in non-governmental organizations for quite some time. CSPC received very little money from the state before Garcia was appointed to the Colorado Legislature. Weeks after she was appointed to the Colorado Legislature, CSPC began receiving much larger payments from the state. How ironic. So make sure we’re saying this correctly. Prior to… her being appointed, keep in mind, not elected, but appointed to office because of another vacancy, her NGO was not receiving a lot of state money. Once she gets into office after being, again, not elected but appointed to office, her NGO now starts receiving money, like more than a million bucks in state funding since she’s taken office. Keep in mind, she took office in, what did I say, January of 2023. So let’s see, what is that? Actually about a year and three months. A year and three months. So 15 months, she’s received roughly a million dollars. Before that, by the way, get this, it received less than $15,000 in total tax dollars. So it went from $15,000 in tax dollars to a million, over a million actually. How was the decision made to start giving such large amounts of tax dollars to Garcia? Did she have any role in the process? It certainly looks suspicious given the timing of when she was appointed. The screenshot, I have this in front of me, from the TOPS expense website shows payments made by the state of Colorado, proving what we’re saying, by the way. What makes the situation raise even more ethical questions is how many multiple family members are benefiting from this? So CSPC, her organization, employs her at $132,000 a year. Sorry, this is him. Employs him at $132,000. Well, you know what? I’m wrong on that. Hang on. This is a gay couple. This is a her and a her. Sorry, my bad. This is a her and a her. So she gets $132,000 a year. Her wife gets $87,500 a year. And both of Garcia’s parents get a combined of $60,000. So collectively, they’re taking, what, $180,000 roughly a year out of this? She discloses in her public financial disclosures that her wife, Jamil Flores, is employed by CSPC and Communications and Social Media for that same amount. The Form 990 also discloses under interested party transaction that also employs both of her parents. Her father makes $45,000, her mother makes $15,000. Form 990 says her father gets the money for the law family program, and her mother gets it for the paso excedo program, whatever both of those are. Both programs have similar functions, hosting sessions to educate parents about their kids’ educational rights. So the NGO that she is executive director of suddenly starts getting a seven-figure funding shortly after she takes office, and then she hired her family members, and now they take home almost $300,000 a year. So did CSPC follow the law and ethic guidelines when it hired Garcia’s entire family? Was there a competitive hiring process, and her wife and both her parents just happened to be the very best people for the job? This is, by the way, this article says this is a potential corruption. I think I would take the word potential out of there. This is, in fact, corruption. I mean, these are things that you don’t do, period, just because it looks corrupt. Even if it’s not, it looks like it, meaning you shouldn’t do it. Period. Period. It looks a lot like the shady government dealings that taxpayers have been learning about with increased frequency. We’re tired of our hard-earned dollars being used in ways like this, funding the expensive lifestyles of the politically connected. I doubt this will be investigated in Colorado, and if it isn’t, that would show a breakdown in our government. And I agree with the Rocky Mountain voice here. No, that won’t get investigated. But like I said, I will call it out either way, right or left. This happens to be somebody on the left. And by the way, if this was somebody that was on the right, I think you guys all know. If this was a Republican politician and this same thing had happened and I’d read about it, would I talk about it? Absolutely I would. Absolutely. Why? Because this crap shouldn’t happen. Period. I don’t care what side of the aisle you’re on. It shouldn’t happen. Again, just like I have called Dave Williams out for some of the shady things financially that he’s done inside of our party, I’ll call it both ways. In this particular case, though, as much as I have railed on Dave and the Colorado GOP, nothing compares to this. Nothing they’re doing compares to this. So those of you that are on the left, how do you explain this? I would love to get a text message or an email from you explaining how do you explain away these sorts of things. And again, keep in mind, going back to the original topic here, this is taxpayer money. We as Coloradans, a lot of you are getting ready to file taxes as we speak. I’m in the middle of getting mine done. I will be sending a check to the state of Colorado in the not-too-distant future, here roughly in about 15 days, roughly, because tomorrow’s the first, so count it out. And I will be straight-up honest. I don’t want my money going to this. I don’t want my money going to this. This is not what I signed up for as a Colorado resident. By the way, a lifelong Colorado resident. So we’ll be right back. I’ve got more to talk about. Dr. Scott Faulkner coming up next. If you need a great doctor, Scott is your guy. SPEAKER 05 :
When it comes to your estate, you really don’t want to leave things up to luck. Michael Bailey doesn’t rely on chance. He relies on solid, thorough planning and getting to know you as you develop your plan together. That’s because a good estate plan isn’t about luck. It’s about wisdom, preparation, and making sure your family is protected no matter what. Think about it. When you pass on, will you leave your family to guess what to do with your possessions, investments, and other assets? Or would you want to make those instructions very clear so your family can know your final wishes in detail? That’s what an estate plan does. It’s not about luck. It’s about making sure what you want to happen is followed, your assets are protected, and your family isn’t left searching for answers. Rely on solid planning from Michael Bailey, not good luck charms. Find the mobile estate planner Michael Bailey on the klzradio.com advertisers page to make sure your last wishes are followed.
SPEAKER 12 :
The best export we have is common sense. You’re listening to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 06 :
All right, and another story just showing you how decrepit the left is, because I guarantee you this didn’t happen from anybody on the right, and that is the GOP, the New Mexico headquarters, was basically hit by arson, in other words, set on fire. Luckily, nobody was injured or killed, but they arrived at the headquarters just before 6 a.m. on Sunday, put the fire out within a few minutes. And they said the front entryway sustained fire, smoke damages throughout the building. The word ICE equals KKK were sprayed on the building. Images from the fire scene show. Now, just to stop there for a minute, how do they get ICE equals KKK? Because you’re rounding up illegals that shouldn’t be here in the first place and sending them back to their home country? That’s not the same as what the KKK did. Again, I hate to keep reiterating this, but this just shows you the ignorance of some that are out there, in this case those that are on the left. Really, how much more ignorant could you be? You don’t even know what evidently the KKK did. You’re either too young to know, haven’t looked it up, haven’t studied it, whatever the case may be. But you don’t know. And the reality is ICE and it shouldn’t even be in the same name. Or shouldn’t even be in the same sentence, I mean. They are not one and the same. To say they equal each other is the stupidest thing ever. Really does show your overall lack of intelligence. That’s how I would say it. So, again, they will be investigating this, trying to figure out exactly who set this. The Democrat Party of New Mexico did condemn any vandalism at the Republican Party. But let me just speak to you guys on the left for just a moment. You create this. You do. You create this. Your rhetoric, your stance on things. how you talk about certain things, what you say, all of those things contribute to what’s going on. So you can condemn it all you want, and you should, but reality is you’re the cause of it. Your whole mentality creates this. You claim to be a party of love and inclusion and this, that, and the other, but really you’re vile, hate-filled individuals that are on your side. You see it over and over and over again. Here just this last week in Colorado when they were having some events here locally, the Steve Bannon event on Friday night. I mean, the amount of people that are from that side that come out in protest and what they actually say and do and how they look and so on. These literally are mentally ill individuals. And I would say this, and you know I would do this. If that was our side protesting something you did and were acting in the same way that those people were at not only that event but a lot of other events that happened around the country, I would condemn that as well. I would. I would condemn it. Just like I have condemned the Westboro Baptist folks back in the day when they were doing all their shenanigans. And I was on air at that time. Again, I call it like I see it. But for you on the left to just condemn it, but then not do anything about ending this, you’re as much of the problem as they are. And I’ll stand by that. And there’s a lot of folks on the left that listen to me. And I thank you for listening, by the way. I respect you for listening. You need to get your party under control. You really do. Your party has become the party of hate. I know you’re going to run around and say it’s the opposite, but that’s not the case. You can look at the way things go in the country, some of the protests, some of the things that happen, some of the things that are said that are done and so on. There’s nothing like that. There’s no destruction coming out of the right. Nobody’s burning up Democrat headquarters across the country. Yet these sorts of things, like what happened in New Mexico, happen far too often from your side against us. And I get it. There’s different issues across the board. Is anybody perfect? No. One of the things I was going to mention today, again, I call it like I see it. I think it’s a big mistake. Those of you that love Trump, and I do as well, I think he’s making a really big mistake when he talks about a third term. Now, I also will say this before anybody judges me. Is he really serious? And I know over the weekend he said that he was. But is he really, or is that a distraction to get the left all riled up so that he can go do something else in its place. And it could just be that, by the way, folks. So before any of you out there get all riled up because of Trump talking about a third term and really looking at it, and yes, there’s possible ways to make this happen and blah, blah, blah. Yes, I know these are things that he said. But remember with Trump, there’s a lot of strategy that goes on in his brain, and some of that may very well be just that strategy. It may very well be him distracting in one area so he can go get something else done somewhere else. And I mean that sincerely. So I take a lot of what Trump says in those particular situations with a grain of salt because he’s likely to not follow through with that anyways. And the left just gets all riled up and that’s all they talk about, which is exactly what he wants. And I’m fine with that. And by the way, I’m fine with him talking about it if, in fact, that’s his strategy. If he’s serious, then I have serious issues with him because, no, I don’t think we should be doing that. And the reason I say that is because I don’t want to give anybody else down the road from either party that same idea. There is term limits on presidents for reasons— And it should stay that way. But back to the way that the left acts and this vandalism, this fire that happened in New Mexico, which, by the way, could happen pretty much anywhere. Shame on you on the left. Shame on you. That shouldn’t be the case. I shouldn’t even be reporting on these things. And at the end of the day, folks, this is just politics. I get it. It’s the future of the country and some things can happen seriously when it comes to politics and so on. But it’s not life or death. sorry to say it’s not life or death now could it eventually be based upon certain policies and things like that yeah i guess eventually but immediately is it no no now something that is life or death and this goes back to the whole comment about what was spray painted on that building about ice equals kkk so The driver in the deadly semi-crash on 285 that happened about a year ago, that particular individual had to serve a year in jail because of that death. He admitted to that particular situation. Ignacio Cruz Mendoza. As soon as he got out of jail, federal custody, he got detained by ICE and he’s going home. He’s getting deported. Rightfully so, by the way. He should be deported. That’s an example, by the way, of where is ICE KKK? This is a known illegal that was here, that was driving in a reckless manner, that killed someone in the process, that went and served a year of jail, prison time, in doing so. And should he be allowed to stay? No. No, shouldn’t have been here in the first place. So this is an example of those folks in New Mexico saying ICE equals KKK, again, showing their absolute, utter ignorance. So, I mean, I would ask those same people down there, is this a situation where ICE is like KKK? And if they would say, well, yeah, this person shouldn’t be deported, then you know what? You’re just as bad as he is. You’re just as bad as he is. And I guarantee you the family would say the same thing. So, again, that was in June of 2024, so not quite even a year ago. So he didn’t even serve a full year. He’s a couple months shy of that. And he killed a man in that process. And he pleaded guilty back then to that particular situation, that particular accident. So, again, in New Mexico, they’re putting ICE equals KKK, all the while forgetting about some of these situations. Carolyn Leavitt did a great job over the weekend, by the way, of, I think, defending current immigration policy, what’s happening, what the Trump administration is doing, and so on, and really talking about how we’re rounding up, initially, not just people that have come illegally, but people that came illegally and have committed a crime on top of that. So it’s kind of a two strikes and you’re out scenario, although in some cases, I guarantee you, these people probably have more than two strikes against them. There’s probably multiples. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be on the list. So my point is don’t feel sorry for these people. Don’t feel sorry. If they want to come to this country and abide by the laws and do the things necessary and have a chance for citizenship and so on, you know what? More power to you, and you should be doing it legally, not illegally. And a lot of immigrants that have come here and done it legally would agree with me on that. But come and do it legally. And above all… Mind your P’s and Q’s. Why are you here committing another crime when you’re already a criminal by being here illegally in the first place? Again, something that, again, these people that did what they did in New Mexico and wrote what they wrote on the wall is evidently forgetting. But I say forgetting, but keep in mind, a lot of these people are brainwashed. They’re brainwashed into thinking certain things that just frankly are not true. They haven’t thought through this whole process. They believe in something that isn’t true. And they continue to stretch that narrative out over and over and over again, even though it’s an untrue statement. Cub Creek, heating and air conditioning, coming up next. SPEAKER 05 :
American Stonehenge by Mike Goldstein is perfect for your middle grade reader. Just ask Dorothy.
SPEAKER 09 :
What I really liked about American Stonehenge was that it had everything that a kid will like to read. A little bit of fantasy and the talking dog. A lot of history. And it goes about it in a roundabout way so the kid doesn’t really know they’re actually getting a history lesson.
SPEAKER 05 :
It’s beautifully illustrated.
SPEAKER 09 :
But having the illustrations gives the kids an idea because they’re so used to seeing everything presented to them in a digital way.
SPEAKER 05 :
But it’s a lot more than just a story.
SPEAKER 09 :
That it would help young readers because they can follow the story. They may or may not have to look up a word. It teaches them how people talk. It was down to earth, geared to interest kids and teach them something without them really realizing it.
SPEAKER 05 :
Mike Goldstein wants to get kids off their phones and into books.
SPEAKER 09 :
American Stonehenge will interest my grandkids that maybe they’ll get off their video games and telephones.

Now back to Rush to Reason on KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 06 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Charlie also reminded me that in this particular situation where this criminal was going to be deported because of the fact he’s here illegally and not even just a one-time infraction, but he had come back and forth, back and forth, back and forth numerous times, 16 over the course of time, So this wasn’t his first offense had been going on for quite some time. And on top of that, they had to actually do the exchange with a lot, not exchange, but they had to apprehend him with a lot more officers on hand because they’re not allowed in the jail to actually do the handoff inside where you would need one or two people to make that happen. By the way, what a bunch of nonsense. And that’s, by the way, that’s because of Colorado. And you can probably blame our Democrat politicians and Governor Polis for that one. Shouldn’t be that way. If there is somebody that is a threat to society, and this person is, they ought to be able to hand them right over to ICE, either in the lobby of the jail or, frankly, right inside. As soon as they exit, they’re done. Here you go. You’re going with these individuals from ICE. Adios, amigos. You’re gone. You’re done. Don’t let that door hit you on the way out. And that’s literally what ought to happen. Now, on top of that, and there’s no guarantees of this, you ought to be talking to Mexico and find out, okay, what are you guys going to do when this guy comes back? He killed somebody here in the States. What are you going to do when he comes back? Because the reality is we don’t want to see him again. We don’t want to see him again. And it’s a shame that we’re even spending resources on this. And remember, too, in all of this, I had somebody texting me that was only a couple of cars behind that accident when it happened, had to swerve to get out of the way. Fortunately, that person is fine. But keep in mind, somebody lost their life over this. This wasn’t some isolated small incident. We have had several of these large trucking incidents in Colorado because of an illegal, in some cases with no CDL like this one, where they literally are a detriment to society itself. And just one other thing I’ll gripe about for a moment. Those of us that have fleets and operate and do things along those lines, if that were me, and I’d been the owner, all hell would break loose. I’m a middle-aged white guy. But because it’s this individual, he gets not barely a year in prison. Yes, he has to go back to his home country, but anybody else, any of you listening, by the way, if you owned a trucking company and that had been your company that this had happened to, you would still be in jail. I’m confident of that. You’d still be there. And you as an owner would probably lose everything on top of it. Even if one of your people did it and you’re the owner, you’re still losing everything over this. That’s the other part of this that’s a bunch of garbage, by the way. Because in this case, this individual has really no assets or anything to go after. I’m not sure there’s any insurance. That’s another – I’d have to go in and dig into this story to find out exactly – how it all shakes out. I’m guessing that this family probably got little, if anything, out of this, even an insurance company that may or may not have even existed on behalf of this particular quote-unquote trucking company. Which, there’s some folks texting me that believe this trucking company is still in business up in that Bailey area. Which, again, should not be the case. Because it’ll happen again. And I see these types of trucks traveling on the freeways far too often, and I can guarantee you that they will not pass the CDL inspections that they should be passing. In a lot of cases, I know this for a fact, what happens is even if these guys get pulled into a mobile station and they have to actually pass inspection, they walk off, leave the truck, go find another one, and off they go again, they’re back in business. They’re not paying a lot of money for these trucks is my point. And when I say a lot of money, they’re paying $5,000, $10,000 for a truck. Keep in mind, they can go make that depending upon what their income level is and how much they work in a month or less. The truck’s paid off. Everything else after that becomes profit. Granted, they got to pay for fuel and such, but these trucks are well, well under-maintained, if at all. They literally drive them to the ground, go do another one. Drive it to the ground, go do another one. And I’m not exaggerating at all in what I’m saying. Some of you out there listening could text me and verify exactly what I’m saying, and I’m not wrong. And if they do get into a point where they actually have to go through an inspection and it gets flagged, they just leave it. They leave it. It gets impounded, sold off, whatever, and nothing bad happens to them. They just go find another truck and start all over again, and I’m not exaggerating. That’s exactly what happens. That’s the story. And the reality is in Colorado, they can’t even hand off those individuals inside of jail. They have to wait until that person exits jail, meaning they have to have a lot more people around to make sure that that apprehension happens correctly so that everybody is safe, including the citizens, the public. And then they get them all rounded up and back to Mexico he goes. But because of that and because of that policy, by the way, you’ve got vandals and they set fires on GOP headquarters in New Mexico claiming ICE equals KKK. That’s just how much of a loser these individuals really are. I have no other way to say it. That’s how big of a loser these particular individuals are. SPEAKER 06 :
One of you actually sent me an article, by the way. Multiple adults, children, and an infant were involved in a collision late Thursday night on I-35 near Parmer Lane in Austin. And a man faces multiple charges after a major crash on Interstate 35. left at least five people dead, nearly a dozen injured. He, of course, was intoxicated. He failed a sobriety test, I should say, showed signs of intoxication. I’ve got to read through this to determine is he legal or not. I haven’t gotten that far. I’m guessing that because you sent me this, there’s a possibility that he may not be, otherwise you would not have… sent this to me, but reality is far too many of these sorts of things are happening, and they should not be. In this particular case, five people, not one, five people lost their lives because of that. So, you know, last but not least, this is kind of more of a drive radio thing that we talk about on Saturdays. Man alive, be defensive when you’re driving. Watch around you at all times. Rear view mirror, front, sides. What are people doing around you? How fast are they coming? Is there a semi truck behind you coming at too high of a speed? Is there one coming at you that’s at too high of a speed? Are they gonna make the corner, not make the corner? Lots of things going on and really, really, really pay attention at all times. There was another lady that was just killed here recently on I-70 going east. And there was a drunk driver that somehow got westbound on the eastbound side and head-on collision and killed her, the baby in the back. I have no idea how the baby survived, but it did. And, again, those sorts of things are just – they shouldn’t happen. Those are stories that, quite frankly, we should not have to talk about ever because they shouldn’t happen. And I’m not blaming anybody in that particular case. When you’ve got lights coming at you and there’s probably cars darting all over the place you’re doing the best you can to try to get out of the way and save your baby in the back which whatever she did she did thank heaven also by the way why you should put your baby in the right rear not right behind you because typically head-ons happen at the driver’s side not the passenger side just the way it ends up working out anytime you see head-on collisions you’ll notice that the driver impact is always greater than the passenger side. That’s why if you’re traveling with any kind of a kid, put the smallest one in the right side passenger seat, not the left side, because of those reasons. So leave it at that. We’ve got two more hours coming your way. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560.
