In this episode of Rush to Reason, host John Rush opens up about the critical importance of estate planning. Joined by Michael Bailey, a mobile estate planning attorney, they delve into the consequences of delaying these crucial decisions and the potential crises it could invite. Michael shares personal anecdotes highlighting real-life scenarios where a lack of preparedness led to legal and financial chaos. They stress the necessity of prioritizing family and preparing for life’s inevitable events. Through heartfelt stories and practical advice, John and Michael encourage listeners to take action now, ensuring their loved ones have guidance and support
SPEAKER 07 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 05 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 07 :
With your host, John Rush. My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
SPEAKER 17 :
Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 19 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 18 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 04 :
I am Hans. And I am Franz. And we just want to pop your ass.
SPEAKER 07 :
Welcome to Health and Wellness Wednesdays on Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 14 :
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through lifestyle.
SPEAKER 06 :
I have what doctors call a little bit of a weight problem. I used to grab bear claws as a kid, two at a time, and I’d get them lodged right in this region here.
SPEAKER 17 :
Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.
SPEAKER 16 :
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
SPEAKER 21 :
I’m sorry that I’m fat.
SPEAKER 22 :
And it is Health and Wellness Wednesday. Welcome. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Michael Bailey with me here during this first segment, mainly because I get him to hang around after his own show that he does from 2.30 to 3 on Wednesdays. And here I thought it was because you liked me. Well, both. Okay.
SPEAKER 21 :
It works both ways. Fair enough.
SPEAKER 22 :
Absolutely. Yep. See each other on pretty much a weekly basis. That’s true. Michael and folks listening, you know a little bit of my story and what’s happened to me here over the past week or so now. And I will tell you after, of course, I say this all the time, because personal experience weighs in on a lot of things that we do. And Michael, I cannot stress enough to people, get your estate in order prior to something happening.
SPEAKER 21 :
It’s true. And prior to even thinking that something’s going to happen or There’s an event that makes it happen. I actually just was listening to a voicemail of a woman who her apparently her brother has metastatic lung cancer. And she wants me to come do something for him very quickly because I am mobile. I’m like, I am a mobile estate planning attorney. My website does not say emergency, Mr. Fix it, you know, first responder. So I don’t know if I’m going to be able to help them. But if you get a diagnosis like that and you’re like, Hey, you’ve got this, you’ve got three months. And I’m like, well, my first appointment’s three months out. So we want to plan ahead so that when something hits, we don’t end up in super crisis mode.
SPEAKER 22 :
And I want to jump off of that for a moment, if you’ll let me, because I think a lot of people would say, well, wait a minute. So you mean you’re putting all these other people that have appointments in front of somebody that’s actually potentially going to die in the next three months? And my answer back as a business owner would be, yeah, these other people made appointments. I’m going to respect their time. I mean, it’s not that any one person is more important than the other, but the reality is they’ve made appointments. They’re in some cases might even be previous clients that are redoing things and et cetera, et cetera. And the reality is, yeah, to be fair, this is how it works.
SPEAKER 21 :
Right. Right. Yeah. I mean, everything’s ordered. It’s a, you know, I always maintain you can ration things by two ways. You can ration it by time or by money. You know, and, you know, my days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. are booked. And then you say that I always maintain nobody’s more important than another. But if my children have activities in the evening that I’m supposed to be at, I’m sorry, but potential client, you lose because they’re my kids. I mean, my middle daughter turned 16 last week. She got her license a week ago today, and now she drives herself to volleyball practice and things like that. And my wife the other day was like, you know, yesterday actually, she’s like, you know, Allie had a really tough day. She was very emotional, and I didn’t even get to see her to drive her to or from school or seminary or to volleyball practice. So, you know, now it’s great. It’s absolutely amazing that we don’t have to drive her everywhere. But it also means… We have a lot less time that we get to spend with her. And I have one off at college. I have this one. I’ve been there. And a 12-year-old, 13-year-old coming. That time is never going to come back.
SPEAKER 22 :
Michael, been there, done that. And I learned a long time ago, as much as I’ve been self-employed the majority of my life, and as much as I love all of my customers and employees and all the people that I’ve dealt with over the years, the reality is none of them are my family.
SPEAKER 21 :
Right. And I will help as many people as I can as quickly as I can. Thank you. But your family, they’re always, you know, I mean, yeah, there’s I think there’s a song. It’s like Cat’s Cradle. Yeah. where, you know, when are you going to have time for me, dad? Cats in the cradle, silver spoon. Right, and the dad just always never has time for his son. And then when this dad needs his son, the son doesn’t have time for his dad. Well, you’ve got to have time for your family. Absolutely. And, you know, the whole point of estate planning is to make things possible. Thank you. And it’s your last give them for your family, you know, so that they don’t get stuck with a mess and don’t get stuck trying to figure everything out when you can’t be there anymore.
SPEAKER 22 :
And this leads me to another question, because I think people have a misconception of this as well. You haven’t done that. You, for some odd reason, in the case of my family, both parents pass. And all of a sudden now the kids are left holding the bag and they’re looking for help. And the reality is you really are in a tough place because there’s no power of attorneys. There’s nothing stated. There’s no estate plan. There’s no will. What do folks in that particular situation do, Michael?
SPEAKER 21 :
So if both parents have died and there’s no will, you go to probate court and you file for what is called intestate probate. Intestate means without a will. And the state of Colorado has been kind enough to write a sole set of statutes that say what’s going to happen to your stuff.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 21 :
If you print it out, it’s about 87 pages long, and you get to go through and follow all of the rules that the state of Colorado has told you. That’s how it will happen. If you don’t have a power of attorney, let’s say that your dad ends up with Alzheimer’s dementia and needs care, and you don’t have a power of attorney, then you get to go to the court and you get to apply for a guardianship and conservatorship, which is the court will appoint somebody to do things for you. Usually they’ll appoint a child or something like that. But, you know, if I if I charge 125 bucks for a power of attorney, it’s going to be 10, 20, 30 times that to go pay an attorney to go do the guardianship and conservatorship. You know, there’s a way to do it. Just everything takes time and gets expensive. And setting the cost aside, if you’re in court and your dad is, you know, doing Alzheimer’s dementia and a little bit paranoid and then you’re in court and the court is telling him that It’s not in his head that somebody is trying to take his ability to make decisions. It’s actually happening. Then the cost of familiar relationships and emotional and all that toll is far beyond anything that a dollar amount might be.
SPEAKER 22 :
You’re correct. Folks, point being, get this stuff handled now. As you heard Michael say a moment ago, yes, he’s very busy. He’s got a lot going on. And in turn, you need to get on the docket as quickly as you possibly can. And make these things happen because, Michael, I know I sound cliche-ish, but you never know what tomorrow holds. Right.
SPEAKER 21 :
And, you know, it’s my last guest on my show. He’s like, well, you know, if something happens, we hope it never does. But I’m like, well, that’s the problem is that there’s only one way out of life. There’s no other options. So it’s inevitable. Hopefully it’s not anytime soon, but we plan for the inevitable. Yeah.
SPEAKER 22 :
Problem is, Michael, you just don’t know. Yeah. And to your point, you’ve got to plan ahead. You’ve got to make sure you have things dialed in. So for those of you listening, please give Michael a call. Yes, he’s mobile. Yes, you can make an appointment. Keep in mind, you’re going to be about three months out right now. So I would say get on that sooner than later. You can do that by going to klzradio.com, rushtoreason.com, drive-radio.com. Basically, anywhere I’m at, you’ll find Michael as well. And what’s the phone number if they want to call you?
SPEAKER 21 :

SPEAKER 22 :

This causes your home to not maintain the temperature inside and makes your HVAC system work overtime, increasing your energy costs. Veteran Windows and Doors guarantees the windows they install are up to code and engineered for your area, so you can be confident your windows will work. Veteran makes sure every window is weather tight, meaning the window is sealed and properly flashed so that no weather ever gets inside. Listen online, klzradio.com. Back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 22 :
All right, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. In response to Michael a moment ago, I got a text message in that they had a dear friend that just the other day, standing in the kitchen, no warning, dropped dead. Folks, and you know my story of what’s happened to my family in the last week. Things happen. You have no idea. You cannot predict them. And I know that those are subjects that, frankly, a lot of people don’t want to talk about. But getting your estate in order and having the right things handled. And I would say also that in today’s world, especially with all of the legalese that we have going on, it’s as important now as it’s ever been. And when you don’t have it, I can just tell you firsthand, when you don’t have it, it’s a mess. It really is. You’re literally leaving your family behind with a huge, a monumental amount of things that they now have to do. It’s already bad. When somebody dies, or in the case in my family where two people die at the same time, and you don’t have all of your ducks in a row, it’s bad enough grieving and everything else that has to happen, but now having to go through all of the legalese to make sure that you can even legally do the things that need to be done adds an entire other layer of pressure, literally, and burden. upon your loved ones. So don’t do that. Get your stuff in order, get things handled, and Michael can help you with that. All right, yesterday’s impossible question of the day, which major city was sacked during the Fourth Crusade in 1204? Constantinople is the answer. Today’s impossible question, what fundamental quantum principle states that position and momentum cannot be precisely known at the same time? What fundamental quantum principle states that position and momentum cannot be precisely known at the same time. That is today’s impossible question. Answer that on our Facebook page if you would. And again, thank you, Ann, by the way, Producer Ann, for putting all those together. That in and of itself is a monumental task to take care of on a daily basis, and I appreciate her doing that. Okay, a lot of you watched the speech last night, and this does fit into health and wellness, and I’ll just talk about this momentarily. I’ve got a guest joining us at 3.30. But the Maha movement, make America healthy again. Even during Trump’s speech, there was a portion of, and this is another one where you look at the Democrats all night long just having scowls on their face and being absolutely miserable, which they’re miserable people anyways. No shock there, but very miserable last night, sitting through having to listen to Trump. Al Green getting thrown out. I’ll talk more about that through the rest of the program. But Maha, again, another moment where Trump talking about RFK Jr. and just some of the different statistics that are out there in regards to our overall health as a country, autism, different things along those lines. And no, Trump didn’t get off into the weeds on what we’re going to do and what RFK Jr. is going to handle and how this is going to work and so on. No, because Trump’s not a micromanager. Despite what a lot of people think, he is not a micromanager. The left thinks he is, but the left, they’re a bunch of loons. He’s not. He assigns people to do the things that need to be done, and he lets them go do their work. He may give them some oversight, may check in on them occasionally, but he just lets them do their thing. And maybe sometimes to a fault. That was kind of part of the problem I think we had during COVID with Fauci and Birx. But anyways, in this particular case, he’s letting RFK Jr., which I think is very fit for the job, HHS. And he even talked about last night that, you know, called him Bobby. Bobby, you’ve got a monumental task in front of you. We’re going to make America healthy again. And you would have thought that as much as the Democrats claim to be on the side of people, to have a love for people, to be out for the little guy on and on we go, that they would have actually at least in that portion of his speech actually applauded. But they just sat there on their hands and didn’t say one thing about RFK Jr. And Trump even made a comment about that, something along the lines of you would think a Kennedy would at least get an applause from the Democrats. And he didn’t. Now, I’m saying that because will we see some things? We’re going to talk about this a little bit tomorrow with Dr. Kelly and Steve House. But, you know, what are the things that are going to be coming down the pike when it comes to, you know, RFK Jr. and different things that will happen in the country? And I hope many will. In fact, I hope that RFK Jr. does inside of our health system, our food system, and so on. I hope he does what Doja’s doing. Clean house. Figure out what’s there that shouldn’t be and get rid of it. Add things in that should be that we don’t do. transform some things in the health care system itself, and make America healthy again. That’s what I really hope happens. I think you’ll see some of that. How much of it can they get done in a four-year time frame? I don’t have that answer, but I think some exciting times on the health sides of things are just around the corner. And I do think you’ll see some success from RFK Jr. on that. Now, again, what does that exactly look like? Folks, I’ll be straight up honest. I haven’t followed that. I don’t know. I need to do some research even tonight going into tomorrow’s show. We talked to Dr. Kelly and Steve House along those lines to see exactly what does RFK Jr. have lined out. But I do know him well enough to know this. First of all, and I said this to my wife last night, I just want to look like him at that age. What about you, Charlie? I mean, I just want to – literally. I mean, you talk about a guy that is fit and in shape and is really a strong-looking man at his age. Yeah, I’m in. If we get the rest of America to be like that, that’s a success in and of itself. I mean, that guy is a specimen. I have no other way to say it. And you compare him to who has been running HHS in the past, there’s no comparison. Which, not to get off on a tangent, because I know it’s health and wellness, but we continually hear from the left about how much they care for people and how much they want to do this and how much they want to do that. And they’re out for the little guy and this, that, and the other. And yet you look at the people they’ve had running things. And then you look at RFK Jr. and the things that he wants to do for the country health-wise, and it’s opposite. Literally, it is totally the opposite. It is like you took that car and did a U-turn. That big of a difference. And so I can tell you straight up, number one, the left doesn’t care about people. We’ll talk about that on the podcast today. You can listen to the roundtable tonight and hear Bob and I talk about that. But they don’t care about people at all. In fact, I would go as far as to say I don’t think the left even really cares how healthy you are. And their feeling is the less healthy you are, the more control over you they have. And they would just as soon have you not be healthy. Talk about Dr. Scott for a moment. It’s also why you don’t hear the left talk much about alternative treatments, red light therapy, stem cells, cryo. I could go down the list. You don’t hear them talk about those things. In fact, a lot of times they’ll poo-poo those things because, frankly, they don’t want you healthy. I’m convinced of that. They do not want you healthy. If they had their way, we are the scourge on earth, and we should just go away anyways. And that’s their belief. Now, I get it. There are some outliers that would probably not fit that full description, and I get it. But I’m sorry to say the majority of them, deep down inside, literally feel the way I just said. And you can see that by their actions, by their behavior, by their fruit, whatever you want to call it. So I’m excited to see what comes out of not only this administration but RFK Jr. himself and some of the things that I know he wants to see changed in the country. I mean, frankly, folks, everything from what we feed our kids for breakfast, the cereals they eat, and so on, we have a vast difference in what we do here, even when it comes to snacks and things like that. My wife and I were commenting on that. We went to vacation Mexico. And we go a few times a year. And even the snacks you get there, you read the label on them. A, they taste different and, frankly, better. And you read the label, and they definitely don’t have the same ingredients that we have. It’s astonishing, actually. And there’s no reason why it should be that way. You can go to Mexico and frankly get a better snack, a healthier snack than you can here. What’s wrong with that picture? Shouldn’t be that way. Those are the things that need fixed. I do believe those are things that the Maha movement will actually fix. We’ll talk more about that, of course, in the coming months and frankly years ahead. But they’ve got to get going quickly because if not, I’m afraid to say, time will run out. So we’ll see how that goes. But ultimately, this Health and Wellness Hour, we talk about a lot of things to keep not only you healthy but your entire family as well. I should have a special guest joining us here in just a few minutes. So let me get going here. Golden Eagle Financial is up next. Listen online, klzradio.com. Back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 22 :
All right, we are back, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. And again, appreciate you all joining us. And for those of you that have been looking for some past shows, we had some software changes here at the station, and it, let’s just say this, it made things a little bit more cumbersome, and it took Ann, Producer Ann, a little bit longer to… get things up when it comes to previous shows and things like that. So if there’s something that you’re looking for, rest assured, we’re doing our very best to get things back on track. But we did a huge, huge software upgrade here at the station. Not that we didn’t have modernization to begin with, but it just made things even that much better for the likes of Charlie, by the way. So at the end of the day, yeah, if some of you are looking for previous shows and things like that and you might be struggling, you can always send me a text message and I can point you in the right direction. And in some cases, it just may take a little bit more time. for producer Ann to get all of that up and running on the website. And you can always go to rushtoreason.com. Just go to the show notes section. There’s a drop down there, and that’s where we put all of those. You can also, if you want to just be quicker when it comes to the podcasts themselves, you can always go to soundcloud.com and just look for Rush to Reason. and all the episodes get posted up there, and you can actually subscribe to the RSS feed to where if you’ve got a particular podcast platform that you use, it’ll funnel right into that, or I should say an app that you use, it’ll funnel right into that as well, and that’s another way where you can actually listen to past shows. Now, also, I get this question all the time as well from people that are out of town, even people that are passing through, people that I will meet. Don’t forget, you can use the KLZ app, KLZ Radio, And you can use that app to listen to us really anywhere you want, in-country, out-of-country. As long as that Internet connection is good and solid or your phone connection is good, you’ll be fine. And as long as there’s not some weird country that’s blocking things for whatever reason, you should be able to listen to us just fine. So Neil Sadick joining us now. Dr. Neil, I should say. Dr. Neil, welcome back. How are you?
SPEAKER 04 :
Thank you so much. Great to be here again.
SPEAKER 22 :
I appreciate it. Now, we are still in winter in Colorado. Yes, spring is trying to come out, if you would, but the reality is a lot of folks, Dr. Neal, are still wearing boots, and it’s cold enough that, yeah, there might be a few diehards that are wearing flip-flops or something along those lines, but for the most part, people are still wearing boots and things along those lines. What is the… You know, when it comes to foot care and things like that, you’re a dermatologist. You know, what happens in relation to that? I mean, we go all winter long. We’re wearing boots. You’re not outside much. You know, in some cases, you know, you may not even have your feet exposed much because people are cold. And even at night, they’re putting on a pair of slippers or socks or whatever. And the fact of the matter is their feet just aren’t seeing much outside of that environment.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, the issue is for infections such as fungus infections, occlusion is a major factor, a predisposing factor. So if you’re wearing boots and socks all the time and you don’t let your feet breathe, then you act as a culture medium for fungus or bacteria to grow. So it’s really important, particularly in the winter months, and if you go out in the snow and it’s moist and wet, to be sure that you take off your shoes when you get home, cleanse your feet, and then cleanse your shoes as well, and be sure you have good hygienic measures for your feet like you would have for the rest of your body.
SPEAKER 22 :
Is this one of those things, Dr. Neal, where… where certain people are more affected by this than others. And let me give you an example. My dad, who’s now in memory care, but I can just remember for years and years and years growing up, my dad struggled with his foot care. I mean, there was always something that he was having to deal with, whether it be athlete’s feet, whether it be this, whether it be that. It just seemed like as kids he was always having to do something foot care-wise. And yet, at least for myself, I’m not sure about my – Sister, but I can tell you, Dr. Neal, for me, I’ve just not had those same problems. So, you know, you would think that that would be hereditary, but in my case, it’s not.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, certainly heredity plays a role. If you have someone in the family that has a fungal infection or other feet problem, you would be more susceptible to having it as well, but it’s not an absolute correlation. It also depends on a lot of your environmental and health influences that you have as well.
SPEAKER 22 :
Okay. Okay. Okay. So I guess my ultimate question is, are certain people more susceptible to this, or is it just, frankly, a luck of the draw?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, people, again, have habits where they have occlusion of their feet. where they don’t have good hygiene, where they’re wearing occlusive shoes, or they’re out skiing all the time or at the beach all the time in a moist environment. Those are people that would be more susceptible to developing things such as fungal infections.
SPEAKER 22 :
Okay. So give us some – I know you said a moment ago that there’s certain things we can do on the care side. Can you be more specific on what some of those things would be if you’re somebody that’s prone? Or in a lot of cases, Dr. Neal, I’m guessing this is a lot like brushing your teeth. There’s probably things that we all should be doing, period, whether we’re prone for it or not.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, I think that’s absolutely a true statement. I think it’s important when you come from the outside – Take off your shoes and socks. Be sure your feet are dry and clean. If they’re not, similar to what you would do for your face, if they were greasy or occluded, you would wash it and use some sort of astringent type agent. On the feet, you would want to clean your feet, wash them again, and use some sort of agent. that kills bacteria and fungi or acts as a degreasing type of agent on the feet as well.
SPEAKER 22 :
Okay. When it comes to actual infections, I guess first things first, is there warning signs that can come along that there might be something developing? I mean, I think some people that maybe get these things on a routine basis would know more than others, but maybe somebody that’s never had one that all of a sudden starts to say, wait a minute, that doesn’t look like it used to. What are some of the warning signs?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, for fungal infection on the feet, which is sort of the topic of this conversation, you commonly see maceration or moisture. You can see some redness or fissuring or cracking between the toes. The toenails can become yellowish. They can become thickened. They can grow upward from the nail bed, so they have some distortion of the nail plate itself. And then if you have a more severe bacterial infection like cellulitis, which can be severe and even cause hospitalization, You usually see redness and warmth that, again, is growing throughout the leg upward, you know, in a somewhat regular type of motion.
SPEAKER 22 :
Okay. Are there – let me ask you two questions. One, are there over-the-counter things that folks can do to treat some of these things? And if so, when do they have to go see a dermatologist versus doing over-the-counter?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, you know, Stride is the company that we helped develop a great antibacterial, antifungal program. So if you have any of these symptoms, you can look on the website, which is getmystride.com, and you can order a topical agent called Stride Solo Clear. and it’s just a topical agent that can be applied to the feet and will prevent progression or help clear, again, fungal infections. You can also use certain powders like tenactin powder that will keep water off the feet areas. That’s something else that can be obtained on an over-the-counter basis.
SPEAKER 22 :
It might be a dumb question coming from a man that does having, you know, pedicures and painting of the nails and so on. There’s a lot of ladies probably listening. Does any of that have any adverse effect or is it just like regular fingernails when you would paint those?
SPEAKER 04 :
No, it’s the same on the feet. The feet is just, you know, sort of the most neglected area of the body compared to other areas such as the face. But if you go to a manicure salon or a nail salon where they don’t have good hygienic measures and sterilization of their equipment, and you use it on someone that has an infection, you certainly would be more susceptible to contracting a fungal or bacterial infection. So you want to go to a salon, again, that practices good hygiene that you know of, And you can ask them how they cleanse their equipment. Do they sterilize them? There are now, again, sterilizing solutions that can be used, heating baths that can be used to sterilize. You want to be sure they have some good hygienic measures to be sure that their instrumentation used for treatment is well cleansed.
SPEAKER 22 :
You also hear folks that travel, and my wife, by the way, is one of these where we’ll never let her bare feet touch the regular floor in the hotel room, and even we’ll wear flip-flops in the shower and so on. By the way, I’m not that person. I get yelled at quite a bit because I don’t do those things. I guess I’m asking you this, Dr. Neal. Is there something to that? Should we be wearing flip-flops and things like that when you’re in those types of settings, or does it matter?
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s an excellent question, and the answer is if you’re in an unknown environment and you’re exposed on the floor with your feet, I think it is good to wear some protective, again, garment, such as flip-flops, et cetera, and not have direct contact exposure to that, again, surface environment.
SPEAKER 22 :
Okay. Other question that I’ve always had is, as a kid, again, because my dad always had issues with his feet and so on, and he always told us, and again, I’m trying to figure out if this is actually true or not, Is there a difference between colored socks and white socks when it comes to how your feet react?
SPEAKER 04 :
That is a fallacy. Okay. You know, the color of your hosiery does not influence your susceptibility to having infections.
SPEAKER 22 :
Got it. So there’s no dyes, nothing in a colored sock that makes it any different than a white sock and so on.
SPEAKER 04 :
You know, a heavier sock may induce more sweating, and that could be an issue. But the color of the cotton or material does not play a role.
SPEAKER 22 :
Okay. Thank you for that, by the way. Okay, so here’s a question. If there’s somebody that really has some ill effects on some of the things that we were talking about, these are things that really affect them, would they be better off trying to wear a thinner sock that’s more breathable versus those heavy, thick socks, or is there any advantage there?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, I think if you have a susceptibility, you should wear a sock that, you know, is warm, keeps you warm, but also gives you some breathability. So it’s somewhere in between. Not too heavy, not too light.
SPEAKER 22 :
And by the way, my wife was listening and just said, see, I told you. So thank you, Dr. Neal.
SPEAKER 04 :
You know, the woman is always right. Those of us that are married have learned that a long time ago.
SPEAKER 22 :
Okay, and I know you’re a dermatologist as well, and kind of moving outside of the feet end of things. Where is another area that you feel people just are neglectful when it comes to skin care?
SPEAKER 04 :
I think another neglectful area in terms of skin care is around the genital area, the genital urinary area. People don’t commonly cleanse. Men and or women don’t cleanse in the pelvic area as well as they do in other parts of the body. That’s another commonly, again, forgotten area that you don’t want to forget about. It’s very important for many reasons.
SPEAKER 22 :
Okay. I also am reading my notes, and I hadn’t thought much about this, but the pumice stone on the feet, is that something we should do daily, weekly? What kind of a routine should we have around that?
SPEAKER 04 :
I think it depends on how thick your feet are, whether you have callus or excess skin. If you have that problem, then, again, pumicing the feet on a daily or every other night basis is something that can be performed on a routine basis for prophylactic hygiene. I would say using a pumice stone once a week is sufficient to turn over your skin cells and decrease the portal of entry of any unwanted organisms.
SPEAKER 22 :
Okay. When it comes to foot care, is there anything to be said about the type of shoe that we wear? And I know we were talking about boots and, you know, the fact that this time of the year, you know, feet can be a little more sweaty and things along those lines. But is there any truth to, you know, A, you know, the more the shoe costs, the better the quality, the better it feels, the better it fits and so on? I mean, what’s the rule of thumb when it comes to footwear?
SPEAKER 04 :
The rule of thumb for footwear is wear what’s comfortable. That’s the major facet. Price does not play a role. Type of shoe does not play a role. In general, in the winter, you want to sort of have a shoe that’s not open to keep your feet warm. In the summer, you might want to wear a shoe that has an opening that allows the feet to breathe. But there is no particular shoe that fits all types of problems or all types of feet that are out there.
SPEAKER 22 :
So in other words, wear what you like, what’s comfortable, what makes you feel good at the end of the day, and you know what that is, and don’t worry about what somebody else says.
SPEAKER 04 :
And always listen to your wife.
SPEAKER 22 :
And always listen to your wife. That’s a good one, by the way. You’re 100% correct. All right, one more time. What’s the website where if folks are struggling with any of these things, they can actually get some treatment? What’s that website one more time?
SPEAKER 04 :
Getmystride, S-C-R-I-D-E dot com. And you can also, if you have any questions about anything related to dermatology or your feet, you can, again, email me at nsadick at gmail dot nssderm, actually is better, nssderm at sadickdermatology.com.

I was such a Strident fan for many, many years. They seem to have taken a step backward over the last couple of years. Are they going to move forward again?
SPEAKER 22 :
We have that championship. As you know, once you win, it’s always hard to get back. And we hope, although I will tell you right now, this year, no, I don’t think so.
SPEAKER 04 :
But in the future, you made a nice trade, so I think things will get better.
SPEAKER 22 :
I think you are correct.
SPEAKER 04 :
Have a great day. You bet, man.

SPEAKER 08 :
Suck it up, buttercup. Back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 22 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, the Health and Wellness Wednesday edition. I read an article this morning, which I thought I would just squeeze in here before we end this particular hour. And I honestly, other than reading the article, I don’t have any real-world experience on this particular topic, although Dr. Scott probably does. And we may actually – I think I’m going to have Dr. Scott back with us next Wednesday because he’s got his – Stem cell special coming up. We want to talk to him about that. And this is a question I’ll probably ask him next week. But this is in Apple News coming from the Hollywood. Forget psychedelics. Everyone’s micro dosing ozempic. And so I read this article today, and I thought, okay, really? Why? What’s the catch? And this whole article is about the fact that there are individuals that are actually using that particular drug, the treatment, if you would, to not – necessarily lose weight. In some cases they’re using it for that, but in other cases they’re using it for other purposes. In a lot of cases people are finding that their brain function is better. They’re finding that folks that might be predisposed to Alzheimer’s are benefiting from and microdosing with Ozempic and things along those lines. So I found this article to be very interesting. Again, I don’t have any real-world experience of my own that I can share, although I will talk to Dr. Scott again if we can get him back in next week. We’ll definitely do so. But I’ll be honest. I don’t know that I can disagree with a lot of what is being said in here because if you understand that particular drug and what it’s doing and how it works and the fact that it’s actually regulating your blood sugar and doing some things along those lines, I’m not sure that I can really argue with the article. Again, I’m not a doctor. But I interview a lot of them on this program in this hour. I play one on radio, I guess I could say, in between Dr. Kelly and a lot of the other doctors that we’ve had on here for literally the past, gosh, Health and Wellness Wednesdays, the past seven, eight years. I feel like I’ve learned a lot. I mean, I’m a doctor and I’m an expert by no means. No, I am not. I’m a car guy, not a doctor. Although, I can read, I can look at reports, I can look at different things that come out, I can talk to different doctors and so on. And I will tell you this, from all of the studying and things that we have done on this particular program and the different people that we have interviewed over the years, any time you can regulate your blood sugar… and keep it more stable and in line especially in the environment that we now live in something that by the way i think you’ll see the maha movement address as well but i will tell you that we all know that sugar in and of itself is not good for us and anything you can do to regulate that and make things better in that particular person’s life including your own i don’t think there’s anything i can argue against that. So microdosing, this is in this article, can have lasting effects in achieving a mental edge. This is coming from Dr. Annette Rezko, a Park Avenue dermatologist. Unlike traditional dosing, which primarily targets appetite suppression and glucose regulation, microdosing may provide a more gradual, sustained effect upon the brain, the immune system, and overall cellular health. By modulating these pathways, it may also reduce neuroinflammation, I should say neuroinflammation, a key factor in cognitive decline and neurodegenerative diseases, i.e. dementia and Alzheimer’s. So, something that if you have a history in your family of, you may want to take a peek at this. Is this something that might be something you could actually look at, and would it be beneficial to you? Again, I’m not a doctor. I cannot answer that. This is a question that I will leave in my notes and talk to Dr. Scott because this is his world. He does a lot more of this than I, and again, he is one of those doctors that does a lot of things that are out of the box and you’re not going to hear from your regular doctor, your regular medical doctor, your regular practitioner. So I will put this in my notes, and I believe we’ll have Scott on next Wednesday, and I will ask him just that. Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning is coming up next, folks. And I actually had lunch with them today, by the way. And just a great bunch of guys. I don’t know how else to say it. Hunter himself, just a great individual.
