All right, we are back. Hour number two, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. As I said earlier, we’ve got Marine Corps Colonel, retired I should say, William Dunn joining us now. Colonel Dunn, welcome. How are you? I’m doing great, John. How are you doing tonight? I’m doing very well. Appreciate you joining us. Before I get going, you’ve got a book out, Gunfighters Rule. Let’s talk about that before we get into Israel. Yeah, you still there? Yep. Did I lose you? Yep, I’ve got you. I’m still here. Yep, absolutely.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, no, thanks. Yeah, I spent 33 and a half years in the Marine Corps. And when I retired, I wrote a book. You know, it’s called Gunfighters Rule. I was the commander of the gunfighters, HMLA 369. And I took that squadron into Iraq. I did many tours into Iraq. And so I talk about some of those events and efforts. And talks about all the way from Kuwait all the way to Baghdad. Wow.
SPEAKER 03 :
Very cool. Well, A, thank you for doing that. We appreciate it. It’s men and women like you that do what you guys do. The reason why we can sit here and even have a program and I can talk about things the way that I do, which I appreciate greatly. Now, moving on to Israel. Been in the news. I talked a little bit about it on Friday because things really just broke and didn’t have all of what was going on. And we’ve had, of course, now. A few days since, and I’ll just say it straight up, I am not on the side of Iran. There’s a lot of knuckleheads, I think, even on the conservative side that don’t understand really what’s going on and why. No, I haven’t been on the ground in Iran. I don’t know how far their nuclear program was. What I do know, Colonel Dunn, is that I feel like we’ve let them get far. We’ve let them get far too into that as is, and I think we should have curtailed that some years ago, but we let them do some things that personally, if I had been in charge, I would not have let them done, and then everything came to a head last week.
SPEAKER 05 :
No, I agree. While I was still in the Marine Corps, I went to Bahrain and Kuwait as the commanding officer of MAG-40, Marine Aircraft Group 40, to do what was called setting the theater for an event such as this, when General Mattis was sent down. So this is not a new problem. This problem has been going on for a long time. Many presidents, and to include President Trump, have said Iran must not, cannot have a nuclear weapon. They’ve promised to use it. They’ve promised. It’s not like speculation. They said, we get it. We’re going to kill Israel. We’re going to kill America. So Israel was, they had no choice.
SPEAKER 03 :
By the way, I appreciate you saying that because very little of what you just said is being repeated. Of course, mainstream media and a lot of those sources aren’t going to say some of those things. But I appreciate you saying that because you’re spot on. They have made it very clear what their intentions are once they have that ability.
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s right. And we, as Americans, need to hope that our government takes those threats seriously. And the problem that Israel had, and they brought this up in a couple interviews with the Prime Minister. They can’t wait for them to get the weapon and then react.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s too late. Too late, yeah. My son and I were talking about this the other day, Colonel Dunn, and here’s what I don’t think the average, and I probably don’t even have the full understanding like you do, but I have the understanding and know, have the wherewithal, that if they were to get a nuclear capability where they’ve got the ability to make a nuclear bomb, Their delivery systems in that, as you know, A, they can either have their own or they can buy other delivery systems from other countries, i.e. Korea or China or Russia. I mean, you get my drift. In other words, the delivery system can be gathered from a lot of other places. And the reality is those delivery systems, I don’t think people realize this. This isn’t just a Middle East problem at that point. It’s a worldwide problem. Am I correct in saying that?
SPEAKER 05 :
One hundred percent. It’s a threat. We cannot allow what I consider a radicalized country, we, America, and the rest of the world cannot allow a person that’s radicalized to get a weapon system that could be carelessly used or carelessly protected. Imagine if you had a nuclear weapon and then somebody could get, a terrorist could get and take somewhere. And I know there’s many means to track things that we can’t really talk about. But the reality is we cannot allow it. Israel and the Israeli pilots, brave men and probably brave women as well. I don’t know if they have any female pilots. I assume they do. But brave men and women of Israel who are fighting a total war went in and they’ve blown back the threat of the nuclear weapon for some time. What we cannot do, though, is assume it’s dead. We have to be sure it’s dead. and we need to stop it. I’m putting a number on it, right? This is my guess. Stop it for five decades, 50 years. You put this thing 50 years back, then all the radicals that are alive now, we’re all gone, right? 50 years from now, I won’t be alive.
SPEAKER 03 :
Good point.
SPEAKER 05 :
So let the younger group grow up and determine how they’re going to continue.
SPEAKER 03 :
So a question I have for you, a great segue, because I was going to ask you this anyways. Right now there’s some debate going on. I think even Donald Trump himself is debating what do we do. The Israelis are asking us to help them with the quote-unquote bunker buster, and this is the big one, the 30,000-pound one that can go down 200 feet because they know that this particular facility is likely that far down in the ground. Iran claims it’s even further than that. highly doubtful, but you send two of those down one after another, and you’re probably going to decimate everything they’ve got underground. And I know Trump is debating whether we do that or not, because, you know, it involves us more than what he probably would like us to be involved in. I guess the question for you, though, is what alternative is there?
SPEAKER 05 :
I’m going to phrase this very carefully. Right now, Iran has not attacked any U.S. forces on this round. Right. If they do one time, then I hope our president gives whatever capability is required to help the Israelis and to stop this threat. So that means if they open that door, then we drop these 30,000-pound MOABs.
SPEAKER 03 :
Do you think they’re dumb enough to open that door?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, they’ve proven they are in the past. Absolutely, they have Houthis shooting at U.S. troops. I’ll give you that. Okay. But what I would do if I was President Trump is I would hold that card. They know he can do it.
SPEAKER 03 :
True. It’s a phone call, as you know. Not even a phone call. It’s probably a text message nowadays.
SPEAKER 05 :
It’s a phone call. And when I worked at United States Stratcom and we did some missions in Libya, we ran it from there. So it could be a phone call, an email. We could get this thing going pretty quick. Right. I would hold that from right now and let Israel keep doing what they’re doing. Okay. Once, you know, they have air superiority right now. They do. True. Soon they should be able to have air supremacy. When they get to air supremacy, Iran will have no choice but to bargain. Now, I heard on the news today that Iran is going to send the biggest missile drone attack in the history of the world, you know, all over the place very soon. You know, I don’t know what that means today, tomorrow. Is it going to happen? Who knows? Time will tell.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, really quick, this will be up your alley as well, if in fact they do. Again, these are things that I read. I don’t have any kind of inside edge. Nobody’s texting me with anything on the inside where I’ve got an edge over somebody else. But we’re sending already some troops, equipment, supplies, a destroyer, some things like that. The way I look at that, to your point a moment ago, is if they cross that line, we’ve got the ability to respond within, really, honestly, at that point in time, seconds.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, and the Israeli capability is very exquisite. Now you add a U.S. capability with mass, our men and women flying these jets all over the place. I’m very confident we don’t want to and don’t have to put troops on the ground. We have to be very selective. We do not want to cripple Iran economically because when this regime is hopefully overthrown by their own people, we should have no part in that. This should be an Iranian issue. Let the Iranians deal with Iran. I think a lot of people forget we used to be very good friends with the Iranians back in the day. We gave them some weapons. So we were friends with Iran back in the day. It should not be unreasonable to think that we could become friends with them again. Let’s get rid of the nuclear threat. Let’s become friends of Iran. Let Iran become friends with us.
SPEAKER 03 :
ideally the iranian people there’s really people will get together and get along and all you have to do is get rid of this hateful regime but the iranian people in my opinion have to do that on their own no and i by the way appreciate again appreciate you saying that as well because i agree with you wholeheartedly and i remind people all the time that it wasn’t that long ago that iran was a bustling metropolis very similar to the u.s it wasn’t this downtrodden You didn’t have this regime in there today that literally are utilizing and manipulating and controlling their people. You didn’t have any of that. It was a great place that people wanted to go to, tourism and so on. They could have all that again, by the way. If they would just get rid of these knuckleheads running it, they could have that back.
SPEAKER 05 :
And they could have it by the end of the week.
SPEAKER 03 :
Literally. No, you’re right. Literally.
SPEAKER 05 :
I’m not being funny, right? No, you’re not. Nobody wants to go kill everybody, right? Right. Except the Iranian regime. Israel would just like to run their lives and their families and protect themselves just like we want to do for our families and our children. That’s right. And I guarantee you that’s what the majority of the Iranian people want.
SPEAKER 03 :
Really quick, and this is something I want you to talk about because you’ve got way more insight into this than I do. And for those of you listening, again, Marine Corps, Colonel William Dunn, whether he’s retired, but I don’t think anybody, the average civilian especially, Colonel Dunn, don’t understand the ultimate firepower. And I mean that in a broad sense, that the United States itself, across all the military branches, I don’t think most people really understand how we literally dwarf all other countries. Oh, yes.
SPEAKER 05 :
We do. And as an example, our pilots, and I’ll be careful how I say this, our pilots’ training is way substantially more sophisticated and better than any of our adversaries. Doesn’t mean they’re not going to get a lucky shot and get one of our aircraft. But we train. We train daily. We know how to fight. We know how to fight the threats. We study every single aircraft, every single weapon system that our adversaries have. And, you know, when the men and women of the military, when civilians go home on the weekends, you know, hanging out sometimes, the military folks, if they’re deployed especially, are studying the threat. And I guarantee you our intel, which is very sophisticated… knows where any live targets are in Iran, they know where the war-supporting infrastructure is in Iran, and they know what to do to contain the threat. Without hurting, obviously the collateral damage happens. but without specifically hurting the Iranian people, we know how to deal with that.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s right. That’s right. This being right up your alley, I want to remind people of this because, again, this is a stat that most people don’t think about. Our Navy, remember what I just said, our Navy is the fourth largest air force in the world, meaning that’s, as you know, Colonel Dunn, that’s our Navy. That’s not our air force. That’s the Navy is the fourth largest air force in the world.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, that’s right. And, you know, I love my Navy brothers and sisters, but, you know, as the Marine Corps, we always say we’re the men’s department of the Navy. I just had to throw that out.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, my son’s a Marine. You can say that. Not a problem at all. You can say that.
SPEAKER 05 :
But, yes, the Navy, we’re all naval aviators, Navy and Marine Corps. They’re trained to fight. They’re trained to come from the sea. And I’m not exaggerating, and I’m not patting our military on the back, even though I love them. They can come from anywhere. Yeah. You take a boat, you get a refueler, you can launch aircraft with bombs, with other capabilities from anywhere.
SPEAKER 03 :
Absolutely. And we do it. Absolutely. I’ve enjoyed our conversation. Appreciate you taking time out of your day. And in the book, Gunfighters Rule, where do folks buy that?

All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. And really quick, just to recap, yes, it is very well known. I think it’s not necessarily leaked out, but been pretty well known that Israel would like us to assist them in especially one department, which is using our… Very large bunker buster. It has the ability now to go down about 200 feet. And, again, keep in mind, too, folks, when these things are talked about, does anybody know exactly what they’ll do? Of course not. A lot of that is top secret. So these are just – 10,000-foot views of some of these things, and there’s only one airplane that has the ability to actually carry two of these at a time. That’s our big stealth bomber. Israel would like us to help them. And here’s the reality, though, and Trump has even said this, we’re not loaning anything that we have to any country, including Israel. In other words, they’re not flying our B-52 and doing anything with it. It’s not going to end up in anybody else’s hands, period, for lots of reasons. Even the bunker buster itself has probably got some technology in it that you just don’t want anybody else having. And it goes back to what I was talking to our last guest about, the amount of things, plural, that we as a country have at our disposal that, you know, everybody thinks a lot of other countries could come close to competing with us. No, folks, they can’t. They can’t. We dwarf everybody else out there, militarily speaking, and I don’t think even the average conservative, nonetheless lefty, has any idea what I’m talking about. Most conservatives don’t have any idea what I’m talking about. The average lefty has no clue. Zilch. Zero. They’ll just tell you we spend too much money on it. Well, it’s because of that that they get to go out and have their no-kings protest they just went through this last weekend, which is so ironic. It’s like, okay, if there really were a king, would you be protesting? Because there’s a lot of countries with kings where you wouldn’t be. Going back to our 3 o’clock opening segment where Charlie and I were even talking before air today, coming on air today, the whole theme of that, if you ask me, was just stupid. Anybody with any intelligence listening to the name of that would have to think to themselves, this doesn’t make any sense. If we had a king, we’d be in a whole different position right now, and we wouldn’t even be able to do what we’re doing. And you just wouldn’t be doing it. Let me finish my thought. You wouldn’t be doing it. Furthermore— And I get that when you do the man on the street interviews, you’re going to get all sorts of things. And I understand, just like TV shows and so on, that they are going to take a lot of the nonsense comments and run with those. And some of what you might have as better comments probably don’t ever make it to, you know, airtime, social media and so on. Although I’m going to say this. I don’t think there’s that many arguments for a no King’s Day that actually hold water. So I don’t even know what those would be, because anytime somebody is asked, you know, what don’t you like about Trump? Ultimately, it just comes down to I just don’t like the guy. Well, that’s not a reason, by the way. That’s not an answer. Just because you don’t like someone, that doesn’t mean that that particular person, in this case Donald Trump, is a tyrannical president and he’s breaking laws and he’s doing things that he shouldn’t and you should be running around protesting in no king state. I mean, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Name something he’s actually doing that is against or goes along the lines of what you’re actually protesting about. And the reality is there aren’t any. Most of these people, by and large, I would go as far as saying 90% of them at these protests are there for one reason, one reason only. They don’t like Donald Trump. Now, I said 90 because, as I said earlier, I think 10 percent are paid and they’re only there for a paycheck. And that I’m being 100 percent honest with. They’re there for one reason, one reason only. I even heard I did see this as well. Some different areas where they said, you know, what are you here for? Well, I don’t know. I’m just holding the sign that somebody told me to hold. OK, well, what does that tell you? They’re paid to be there and hold a sign. They have no idea what they’re doing. They don’t care. Even they’re just holding a sign. And I’m not saying that’s every single person that went to the protest, but there’s a lot of them there that I will tell you at the end of the day have no idea why they’re there. The other reason why I think some people go to these things is because it’s community. It’s something you can go do. There’s other people there that don’t like Donald Trump as much as you do. Let’s go hang out with them. It has nothing to do with the protest. It’s just the fact you can go hang out with like-minded people, and they feel a sense of accomplishment or some encouragement, I guess, at the end of the day by doing so. Great. More power to them. Have at it. But the whole no kings, just the theme alone, in my opinion, has to be one of the dumbest names for a protest ever because we don’t have one. We’re not even close to having one. And I heard even, you know, different men on the street interviews talking about Elon Musk and all of that. I guess these are people that having followed along what’s happened between Musk and Trump in the last two weeks, three weeks. Again, these are people that are, for the most part, absolutely clueless. I will give them the right to protest. I will protect their right to protest all day long. But just because you’re protesting doesn’t mean you’re the smartest guy out there. In fact, in some cases, I’ll just be straight up honest, you’re probably the dumbest guy out there. In this particular case, if you’re going to hold up a no king sign, you’re not real bright. I’ll just say that straight up. You’re not real bright. You’re believing in something that, frankly, doesn’t exist, and you have no proof that it exists, and you can’t back that up. So, again, I’ll leave that at that. I think the whole protest thing over the weekend was utter nonsense. On the same token, those folks that were on our side of the aisle talking about how it would institute martial law and so on, and here’s my point with that as well, and I didn’t mention this last week and I should have. Anytime people talk along those lines, they’re giving the other side far too much credence, far too much respect. They’re basically saying that these guys have the ability to be such a disruptor That you’re going to have to institute martial law to get things back, you know, back on track. I mean, you’re really giving them a lot of credit when you run around and talk like that. That’s why I don’t follow anybody that talks like that, because anybody saying that is just as big of a knucklehead. But as I explained last week, there’s a lot of people, especially on social media, influencers, YouTube and so on. Whereby they say these things because that’s how they make money. It’s what they do to generate revenue. The longer you watch, the more ads you see, the more clicks they get, the more likes they get, the more subscriptions they get, the more shares they get, the more money they make. Real quick, I don’t think most of you realize this, but on a lot of the platforms… whether it be Instagram, which is Facebook. Those are one and the same, by the way. Meta owns both of those. That’s Zuckerberg. Meta owns both of those. TikTok, which is Chinese-owned, whatever. We’ve been down the path on that one many times. And then Google owns YouTube. So between those four platforms, I don’t think anybody understands if you’re an influencer, you get paid by how much somebody views your content all the way down to the second of how much of it they’re viewing. You get paid by if they like that content. You get paid if they bookmark that content. You get paid if they share that content. In other words, send it on to somebody else. So there’s about four to probably six ways, and I’m probably only scratching the surface, there might even be more than that, as to how these influencers get paid. And my point is, you don’t even have to be right, and you can still get paid, as in this prediction of martial law happening yesterday. All those guys still made money. They still get to collect their paycheck at the end of the day. You all that share it, by the way, and maybe some of you didn’t, and I hope you didn’t, but anybody that shares it then looks like a fool, but that doesn’t matter. The guy that was doing it originally still makes money at the end of the day. Whether he’s a fool or not, he’s the guy laughing all the way to the bank. Let’s just say it that way. He’s literally the guy laughing all the way to the bank on the backs of you. So I am one where if I just know it is way out there, I don’t watch it. You guys can send me this stuff. I’m not going to watch it because I’m not going to give that guy any money. Because if I’m watching it, I’m giving him money per se. I’m not directly giving them money, but I am. Because the more I watch, the more that person makes. So I would tell you guys all as a suggestion, stop watching crap that’s not real. Because all you’re doing is promoting more of it. If you know it’s not real, don’t watch it. Because, again, reiterating, that person is making money by you watching, liking, sharing, commenting, whatever. I forgot about that part. If you comment, there’s more money in it for them, too. You get some of these videos where there’s millions of comments. They make a boatload of money. And I’m not exaggerating, folks. All right, and we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. My son Richard Rush joining us now. Richard, one thing I didn’t get a chance to talk about yet, and maybe you and I can get into this, is this whole California, President Trump blocking their first-in-the-nation rule that was banning the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035. Colorado followed suit shortly thereafter. The reality is all of that now. has been tabled, meaning that we in Colorado will not be abiding by that any longer, and it’s throwing a lot of quote-unquote environmentalists’ arms up in the air because they’re just fit to be tied.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, Dan, this goes back to a lot of different things that you and I have talked about over the years. And that is, well, number one, I don’t think there’s anything to do about, you know, gas cars on the road, right? You know, the environmentalists and the activists will say, well, you know, the less gas cars we get on the road, the better and all these different things. But you and I both know in the data that depending on where you look, right? You can get as much data as you want, but you can skew it in any way you want.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 17 :
But there’s really not anything that’s being improved by this. And, in fact, as much as they talk about driving down costs, which, by the way, Dad, this is the same state, California, that essentially came out and admitted that the CARB board, right, the California Air Research Board, They never realized the cost or the policies that they put in place as far as refineries and other things, what the cost would do to price of fuel and other things. So these same people have come out and made it their recommendation, and then obviously the legislature in California has followed it up by saying, banning the sale of gas cars and everything. You and I have said this, right? We’ve done lots of car reviews. We’re getting ready to do a few others. Electrical powered vehicles, Tesla, GM, Ford, any number of them, right? Volvo, Toyota, you and I both think that there is a place for that, right? In the market. But we are a firm believer that we should let the market, the free market key, dad, right? Key words here, free market. This side what that looks like because we could just you again if we mandated everything well then it’s no longer a free market and then no offense that these manufacturers and rightfully so why wouldn’t they they’re going to take advantage of that and they’re going to charge consumers. all over the place to say, yeah, you guys are forced to buy an electric car. Well, here’s your only option. And it’s going to cost you now way more than that. So like you say, and I’m hoping, obviously, that it holds up in court, and it should, because it really is an outrageous thing. And you and I have talked about this. It is really crazy that one state, granted, I know California is big, and I know that they produce, their economy produces a lot, and all those things, right? I get that. But still, one state should not be able to set their own regulations to this extent, right? That this is not a housing code. Correct. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, even then, I would argue, Richard, that even when it comes to some of those sorts of things, now, granted, coastal states could have a few different housing regulations than what others do, and that I understand because of their environment and so on, but I’m one that says that, you know, I’m one that would go as far as to say that concealed carry should be reciprocal state to state because that’s a Second Amendment national right. It’s not a state-by-state right. Much like clean air and those things that we’re talking about with California, very, very much the same thing. States should not be able to just go out on their own and establish their own things. And I’m a big, as you know, I’m a big states rights guy. But when it comes to transportation, travel, things like that, that’s a nationwide thing. It’s not something that’s localized. And so in that case, I just don’t feel like states should have the ability to do what California does, period. California Air Research Board needs disbanded as far as I’m concerned.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, they do. They’re causing more harm than good, and they’re doing lots of things that are driving up the cost for consumers.
SPEAKER 03 :
By the way, to your point, Richard, not just driving it up for Californians, but coast to coast.
SPEAKER 17 :
Correct, because what California does, it then obviously gets pushed down, right? It gets passed to wannabe California states like Colorado.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 17 :
Again, I just wish Colorado would realize that we want to be Colorado. We don’t want to be California. Different conversation. But, yeah, it does drive up the cost, Dad, kind of down the line, right? It drives the cost up for other states. and for other entities, and ultimately they’re not doing any good, right? And whether you want to argue that they mean well or not, no, they are simply just adding, because none of what they are doing has helped. I mean, you can go back to when they were established and argue that, right? I mean, they really are not providing any value, number one, to the state of California and Californians, and they’re not providing any value to the rest of the country. And like you say, Dad, Transportation, cars. It’s a tricky one, because no, there is no right in the Constitution to operate a motor vehicle, right? No, not… But there is rights to be able to travel, you know, kind of freely in the States and be able to do so without… Because you can’t stop another vehicle that was bought in Oregon or Arizona or Nevada, right? I don’t… From coming into your… Colorado, right?
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s right. There’s nothing stopping… That’s right. That’s exactly right.
SPEAKER 17 :
It’s kind of like when COVID was going on, right? Everyone was like, well…
SPEAKER 03 :
Some states tried to block that free travel of other people coming in, and that got shot down right away, Richard, because of the very things that we’re talking about. Those were never allowed to take place during COVID.
SPEAKER 17 :
And it’s like our silly gun laws here in Colorado, right? There’s nothing stopping you from going to another state, purchasing something legally in that other state, and then bringing it back. Yeah, is it another barrier? Sure. But the same thing with a car, right? If you’re in California and this law had been able to be enacted, Dad, there’s nothing stopping you from going to Nevada. Right.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right.
SPEAKER 17 :
And purchasing estate or even buying it, having it trucked in. It’s just crazy. Right. And then back to the idea of air. Right. Like air moves, you know, kind of like wildfire smoke moves. Right.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right.

And all of the it’s like, right. And I get what they were wanting to do. Kind of back to the point, Dad, of electric cars and what yours and my theory is, because a lot of people on the ride or whatever will say, well, you guys are just against electric cars. And the answer is we’re not. We actually think that there’s a place for them.
SPEAKER 04 :
Correct.
SPEAKER 17 :
You’ve owned several of them.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right.
SPEAKER 17 :
You own one right now, right? Right. There is a place. in a time for them. However, they are not made for all people. And while the technology is getting cheaper, and you can do some really cool things with electric cars, right? Like I think some of the cars on the road today, you can act as a generator, right? If your car, if your house, you know, loses power.
SPEAKER 03 :
F-150 is a great example of that.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah, it can be a massive battery back. But it’s also, there’s also a purpose for them, right? And there’s a purpose for certain businesses and certain aspects of industry that you can’t replicate with electric yet, nor do we want to. It’s just not there. So I’m with you, and again, I think that I’m glad that Trump is doing it. And by the way, when people ask that, you know, well, Trump’s doing this, this is one of the things, and I hope they continue to do this, and he does this for not the next two, all the four years, because he actually has control over some of this for the next four, no matter what happens in midterms. De-regulation, right? Get the government out of our everyday stuff because, again, as what happened as we talked about earlier, the segment of CARB and actual Democrat lawmakers that wanted to remove the board of CARB, right, to say, you guys, you didn’t pay attention to the pricing. It’s like… I could have told you that, and I live in Colorado.
SPEAKER 03 :
Exactly. I could have told you that for a year. CARB has had a blank slate to do all sorts of erroneous things over the course of time, me being in the automotive industry as long as I was and watching a lot of what CARB did. They have been so out of control for so long. As I said earlier, and I’ll keep saying it, they need to go away. CARB itself needs to be disbanded, done away with. If they want to set up something else that works much better, be my guest. But the reality is CARB is outdated. And to your point, Richard, can’t even do their own research before making a ruling.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, and then, like you say, what CARB does, it goes down the line, because we had here, right? We now have a more expensive brand of gas here in Colorado in the summer, not because of CARB, but because of the EPA, right? Because the EPA put us in whatever our zone is, right? We have heavy smog days. In reality, out of the total days out of the year, we may have, what, 20?
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s minuscule.
SPEAKER 17 :

It’s minuscule. Yeah, it’s not much. Not enough to mess with.
SPEAKER 17 :
It is so small and… And yet, as a result, we are now having to pay for a higher blend of gasoline.

Correct.

And again, this is something that a lot of folks don’t pay attention to, and we don’t expect everyone to. But it’s these little things that sort of add up over time that if we just got rid of some of this stuff, it would have an immense effect on the overall spending power and inflation and the economy as a whole.

That’s right.
SPEAKER 17 :
Because Americans wouldn’t be paying more for gas tax, which that’s a whole other conversation if you… gas tax versus road tax versus the other stuff. But again, that just unnecessary expense on the consumer. And I’m with you, Carb. If it went away, we would be all the better for it.

All right, we are back in that time of the week where we do car reviews. We’ve got a couple today, Richard, that we’ll go through. Let’s start with you drove recently a new 2025 Genesis G90.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah, Dad, so this is their flagship sedan. This is the kind of chauffeur-like sedan for Genesis. And for those of you that know the competitors out there, you know that this is kind of a high-dollar segment. However, Dad, this is a high-dollar car with not the highest price tag. And what we mean by that is, This is a full-size, four-door luxury sedan that is meant to either be super luxurious to drive down the road if you’re just driving yourself, or if you’re an SUV, or not SUV, an executive, right, a CEO, and you want a nice, luxurious sedan. Guy, you’ve got a driver that occasionally drives you around, whatever it might be, and some of you are going to sit there and say, who’s that for? I’m not sure you would be surprised. And the nice thing about this vehicle, Dad, is you can do so for potentially two-thirds of the cost of the competitor. That’s right. This vehicle, as it sits, this is the 3.5 TE supercharger version. trim, which essentially gives about 34 more horsepower. I think it’s a 48-volt kind of an electric element to it, which is really, really nice. The nice thing, though, and what Genesis has done is you don’t have to add a bunch of different options to get there. So if you just choose the E, so this is, again, the 2025 G90 3.5 TE Supercharger, all-wheel drive. As it sits, about $102,000. There’s just a few different accessories. I wouldn’t even call them options, Dad. Accessories that you can add, 8-speed automatic transmission, multi-chamber air suspension, heated and ventilated front seats, heated and ventilated rear seats, massaging front seats, massaging rear seats, all of the things that you could want. One of the coolest features of this car, Dad, however, is what they call their road preview. So instead of a lot of the electronic adaptive suspensions out on the road today, Dad, where it kind of adjusts as you’re driving, this thing uses the cameras to to basically see the potholes and such in the road and adjust the driving and adjust the suspension for it as you’re going down the road. In other words, folks, it’s incredibly smooth and incredibly quiet in this vehicle. I could literally sit here and tell you for probably the next 30 minutes all of the features of this car. All I will say is this. If you’re looking for a luxury sedan and you’re looking for some of those competitors that are in the mid-100s, yes, I said that right, the mid-100s, Dad, you can get this car for just over $100,000, which in this segment, Dad, is an incredible value. And in my opinion, you get all of the features that some of the competitors out there have for not the highest price tag, which is great. And you saw this car, I’ll quickly let you chime in there, Dad, this car looks
SPEAKER 03 :
phenomenal folks it does not look like a genesis driving down the road and that is the highest of compliments i can give because it’s beautiful yep no they do a great job on them i’ve driven this car in the past and uh even some of the older models of this you know the previous generations of never disappointed richard it’s a fabulous car it competes extremely extremely well so a lot of you guys where you’re driving some of the higher end by some of the other German automakers, let’s just say it that way, you would be pleasantly surprised at how well this car actually competes on that level. I might even go as far as to say this, Richard, not only competes on that level as far as the luxury sides of things go, might even be a little bit better. The one thing it does lack, and I’ll be the first to admit it, is does it have the same horsepower that some of the others that you’re competing against will have? Maybe, maybe not. But keep in mind, you’re spending a third less money on this car than you would some of the other quote-unquote competitors. So something to think about, Richard.
SPEAKER 17 :
No, absolutely. And it doesn’t have some of the fancier engines and stuff, Dad, but at the same time, it gets up and goes just as well as I need it here in Colorado. The all-wheel drive is a great feature. If we were to encounter any snow, obviously we didn’t. Overall, I would highly recommend it. Again, head to your local Genesis dealer. Again, 2025 Genesis G90. Test drive it, because I think when you do that, you’ll really want to get in this vehicle and have it for yourself. All right, another car that you have just driven, which I actually like this car a lot. Now, it’s not the super most practical car, especially for somebody like me and what I do, you know, daily because of the size and the room and so on. But it’s got a cult following. It’s been a standard in the what I would call entry-level sports car end of things. And this is one of those cars, Richard, where, again, once again, if you’re buying this car for the right reasons, you will not be disappointed.
SPEAKER 17 :
No, absolutely, Dad, and that is the 2025 Mazda MX-5. This is the Miata, right, folks? We had the Grand Touring Edition, Dad. They have an RF Edition, which basically is the hardtop convertible. This is the softtop convertible that is manually done, which I will say is one of the easiest things things I’ve ever done because a lot of times dad those electric hard tops while they’re great and they’re functional they take a while to use I can kid you not put this soft top up and down with one hand in literally five seconds yep and I kid you not folks and so so if you’re driving down the road and you’re like oh my word I didn’t realize that that thunderstorm was going to be coming up especially here in Colorado in the summer You can literally get to the stop light, almost a stop sign, depending on if no one’s behind you, put this soft top up. I will say that outside of that, Dad, I mentioned the six-speed manual, which is fantastic. It’s got a two-liter, four-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower underneath the hood, rear-wheel drive, really well-balanced, Dad. That’s one thing that you’re going to find on this. Is it going to light up the afterburners? Not by any means, but is it a really fun roadster and a car to drive? And I would say absolutely. It’s got heated seats if you need that. They actually do have a 35-year anniversary model for this year, Dad. We didn’t drive it, but folks can see that. I think they’re only making 300 of those cars, which… would potentially be a good collector’s item, depending on if you’re into that. Price point, folks, this one, as it sits, $36,565. Fuel economy is $26,034 for roughly an average of about 29 miles per gallon. I will just tell you this, folks. There’s not a lot to this car. It is a small car. You’re not getting a whole lot in the trunk of it, but that’s not a big deal. Again, and some people are going to say, well, it’s really noisy. It is what it is. Honestly, if you’re driving with this thing and you’re worried about the noise, it’s not the car for you. It’s a car to have fun.

Again, if you wanted a second car, folks, there’s only two of you at home, or maybe you’ve got kids still, but you just want to be able to go out on a date night and have a convertible… highly highly recommend this car only downside that if you’re over six feet you’re going to be hard pressed to get in this and your forehead’s going to be getting bugs right however if you’re like most of the rest of us and that’s not the case this is definitely a car i would highly recommend so head to your local mazda dealer i know that they have some some special deals even with some of the tariffs and stuff going on that i just checked out their website on that I would encourage folks, get out, test drive this car. Somebody asked also, with some of these changes that have been happening in California, will that have any impact upon octane, octane rating, some of the changes that even happened, and what should I be using in my car? It’s really a drive radio question that I can get into in the future, but let me just say this right now. This really does become car and driver related. I mean that seriously. You’ll get all sorts of opinions from people on what octane you should run. And I’ll just tell you straight up, it comes down to what works best for you and your vehicle and your fuel economy. And here’s what to do. Run a few tanks of each of the full three grades. and see where your fuel economy is. Do it manually. Don’t do it off of what the computer tells you, but manually do the math and find out exactly what your fuel economy is, and that will tell you which fuel you should be running or not based upon that math.
