Are we on the brink of discovering new frontiers, or is the truth more terrestrial than fiction would have us believe? This episode unfurls the layers of rumors surrounding unidentified aerial phenomena and the U.S. Department of Energy’s clandestine search for lost radioactive materials. Tune in for a discussion that challenges our perceptions and offers informed speculation about the current state of affairs, all while emphasizing a need for careful consideration before succumbing to sensational conspiracy theories.
SPEAKER 06 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 15 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 06 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 15 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did! Get a job, Turk! You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference!
SPEAKER 12 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 15 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 13 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right. Welcome back. Hour number two, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. As I said earlier, we’ve got a special guest joining us, Brandon Weikert, joining us now. And he is senior editor at 1945, a leading national defense news and opinion website, which I was on today, Brandon. So thank you for joining us.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, thank you for having me, and thanks for the nice plug. Happy to be here.
SPEAKER 14 :
You’re very welcome. Okay, talk to us. I did a little bit in the first hour. I didn’t get into a lot of details because I knew you would be joining us, and frankly, I am no drone expert, but I do have some common sense, and I feel like I’ve got a pretty good grip on what’s going on. I’m not a conspiracy theorist as well. I mean, I think there can be some things that get really, really outlandish, and it’s kind of what’s happening right now in regards to this. What are your thoughts?
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, we’ve reached the hysteria portion of what I can only describe as a social media phenomenon. What’s really going on, and now that Daily Mail is reporting the story that I broke on Twitter, I was retweeting another individual who made this point, and they looked into sort of what the Department of Energy was doing with radioactive waste, and it’s been discovered, and they were covering this up, the Biden regime was, it’s been discovered that the Department of Energy on December 2nd lost radioactive waste shipment in New Jersey. And it is my contention, and this is speculation on my part, but it’s informed speculation, it is my contention that what we are witnessing in terms of these drone operations is this is the Biden administration using nuclear sniffers at night so as not to, ironically, to arouse suspicion, but I think they are desperately searching for this missing radioactive waste shipment, and they don’t want to admit it to the public because, of course, Biden is already leaving under a hail of embarrassment. Why leave even more embarrassment? Yeah, why pile on? Yeah. That’s right.
SPEAKER 14 :
And, you know, it’s funny. Some of the things that I’ve been reading and listening to, and, again, I take a lot of different social media videos and so on with a grain of salt, and some I put a little more credibility in than others. And I’d heard some similar things, you know, theories along these lines. So, by the way, I don’t think that’s too far-fetched at all, the other theory I’ve heard, and I don’t know how true this is.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, if you follow me on Twitter, you should see the pile on right now from these big-name accounts who are attacking me, calling me the conspiracy theorist, while they’re out there saying it’s Little Great Ben.
SPEAKER 14 :
Yeah, well, number one, it ain’t that. That one I can assure you of, because there isn’t any. So that’s not it at all. Now, the other theory that I’ve heard, and this one I don’t know either, that there was supposedly a nuke from Ukraine that has been lost. And again, I don’t think you can lose a nuke that easily, but supposedly there was one of those lost as well, and we don’t know where it’s at.
SPEAKER 16 :
It is interesting because I was contacted, and now I don’t communicate with Russia, but I was contacted by several people that I once knew who are in Russia who are affiliated with their media there, and they were asking what I knew about Russia. This this NATO nuke that’s being moved into Ukraine right now. And of course, I don’t I don’t know anything about that. But I think it’s interesting that you say that because you’re like the third person now in the last two weeks who’s brought up Ukraine and nukes. And I have a book out on Ukraine. I would not surprise me. If the Biden regime was actually possibly using this drone story to distract the media from the fact that they are actually moving nuclear weapons into Ukraine to hand off to the Ukrainians. But again, that is a significant escalation. And even though I do believe the Biden regime would love to leave a smoldering problem for Trump, I don’t know if they’re crazy enough to do that because they know, and this is what the globalists fear, that if we do that to Ukraine, the Russians will hand off nukes to Iran. and maybe even venezuela right and so i don’t think we’re going to get there yet i really think the the first thing i said which is that this is a department of energy has misplaced radioactive waste i think this is probably the most likely explanation i’m with you i i number one
SPEAKER 14 :
Enough research that I did over the weekend, I really feel like this is a DOE situation, and they have some anonymity, as you know, and have a lot of high-tech things that most people don’t realize they have. And they’ve got the ability to do some things outside of the, quote-unquote, armed forces, which is why the military may not know what’s going on, although you’d think they’d talk to one another. But, again, that’s a whole other discussion probably for another day.
SPEAKER 16 :
The military did know. Trump said today in his statement the military does know, and he was confounded as to why the government wasn’t just saying what it is. And so it’s possible the military does know, at least part of them know, and they’re not – left hand’s not talking to the right hand type situation.
SPEAKER 14 :
My theory on that – again, this is my theory. I’m just a talk show host, car guy talk show host. That’s who I am, by the way, Brandon. Okay. At the end of the day, I’m no super intelligent individual by any stretch of the imagination. But number one, I think they’re not being honest because, number one, if in fact even what you said, no matter what, whether it’s a lost nuke or it’s what you’re saying, either way, that drives panic in the public, which they’re most likely trying to keep down as much as they can. On the same token, by what they’re doing, they’re driving panic.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes, yes. And also, by the way, I mean, just think about it from the Biden regime’s perspective. They have been totally outmaneuvered by a man, Donald Trump, they said was literally Hitler. And he has humiliated them for the last year. So why would they want to go out now admitting that, hey, we’ve also either lost a nuke or we’ve lost radioactive material? They’d rather create panic and chaos. that admit that they’re just totally incompetent.
SPEAKER 14 :
And correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t somebody that is pretty high-ranking in regards to the nuclear end of things one of their transgendered weirdo dude dresses in a dress and lipstick and the whole nine yards? Am I correct in that? No.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes, if you want to talk about aliens, I mean, this guy or girl or whatever who looks like an alien, it is a cross-dressing bald man who says it’s a woman who was arrested for stealing people’s luggage at airports. And so that’s who’s in control of our nuclear was, at least until they might have resigned.
SPEAKER 14 :
But that is who was in control for several years of the Biden regime’s nuclear security. That’s what I thought. So given all of that, on a serious note… Given all of what we just said would be all the more reason why you want all of this covered up. Because, again, that just now adds to, you know, the other side, Donald Trump and so on. You know, my side, I should say, just adds to our fodder that, hey, you guys are totally incompetent. And all of your DEI nonsense just almost cost us as a nation.
SPEAKER 16 :
That’s right. That’s right. And, you know, ultimately, the one thing your audience should know is, first of all, it’s not aliens. Second of all, the likelihood that it’s a foreign threat actor like Iran or even China is not likely. So please don’t shoot at the sky because you are probably shooting at a civilian airliner, which actually apparently happened over the weekend. In New Jersey, where they shot up at the sky and it was actually a civilian airline.
SPEAKER 14 :
I saw that. I saw some of those clips of that. And it’s like, people, please, you know, number one, gun safety. You don’t do that. Number two, you have no idea where the rest, you know, you’re not going to hit it, most likely, which was very apparent.
SPEAKER 16 :
You’re going to hit somebody else.
SPEAKER 14 :
That’s right. Right. You’re going to hurt somebody else when it’s all said and done. And I’m like you, again, part of where my synopsis of all of this came in, not even from the videos and other things, Brandon, but just, number one, these things have lights. Number two, they’re flying at an elevation that they’re supposed to fly at or under to be FAA approved, if you would. So, I mean, I’m looking at all this and saying, OK, wait a minute. And I said this in the first hour. First of all, aliens wouldn’t do that, which… again, there’s no such thing, but number two, a foreign adversary is not going to do that either. Foreign adversary is not going to play by the rules.
SPEAKER 16 :
Right. Absolutely. Absolutely. And then the one thing question you should ask yourself is if I’m an alien coming from across the universe, why would I be visiting New Jersey?
SPEAKER 14 :
Good one, actually. Good one. I mean, but I’ve seen even some of the, you know, and I know they’re AI generated, but you know, it’s showing ships coming up out of the water and this, that, and the other. And it’s like, Oh my word, people.
SPEAKER 16 :
And by the way, that, That’s an interesting thing, because I have seen some of the videos as well, and I will say, before this morning I saw the thing about the lost radioactive waste, I was wondering if the U.S. Navy was testing their new transmedium drones. And those are drones that the Navy has been developing for about a decade, which basically can travel underwater and then fly like a normal drone in the air and go back underwater.
SPEAKER 14 :
I just learned something. I didn’t know that.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes. Well, not many people did. I consult for the DOD, so I see and hear a lot of things. But you can actually find the Naval Surface Workers Center’s paper on it from about a decade ago. China is developing similar tech. But the key thing here to understand is even that has a terrestrial explanation. It is not little green men. Right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, furthermore, when you look at these particular drones, how they’re made, how they fly, what they do and so on, not that other countries couldn’t do the same. But let’s face it, Brandon, there’s just a few countries with that technology that have the ability to do that.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, China’s one of them, but I don’t think it’s them. I really don’t think it’s them right now.
SPEAKER 14 :
No offense, they’ve got too much other stuff going on at the homeland to worry about that right now, and I’m being very honest.
SPEAKER 16 :
That’s right. I agree. I agree. I really think this is us, and I think that the scary part is that just like East Palestine, Ohio, the Biden regime has taken a natural disaster and probably made it worse.
SPEAKER 14 :
Absolutely. You know what? I’m glad I had you on. You think much like I do. I didn’t think that I was crazy over the weekend, and I’m I know now that I’m not. And for all of you out there listening, and I got a lot of text messages and things over the weekend, Brandon asking me what I thought. And again, my number one answer was, it’s us. I don’t know exactly how, but believe me, it’s us. And no, I’m not going to lose an ounce of sleep over this until we know more.
SPEAKER 16 :
That’s right. That’s right. And don’t shoot at the sky. And don’t shoot at the sky.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay, before I let you go, last thing, because this one I don’t know. If, in fact, they misplaced…
SPEAKER 16 :
radioactive waste which by the way i don’t know how you do that um apparently it’s quite normal i found out it happens quite a bit really okay i found that out school me yeah well i don’t again this is i i don’t normally work with the department of energy this is not normally my area but apparently that some small traces of radioactive waste medical radioactive waste have been known to be lost into the ether of our elephant time bureaucracy. So my little spin on this is, because they tried to community note me on Twitter when I said this, now my thought was, okay, maybe this is something that happens routinely, but I actually think that if it was something that was routine that was lost, possibly it was a large quantity because that’s the only explanation that I can think of. If you look at where these drones are appearing, they first appear in the East Coast. They can’t find what they’re looking for. So then they appear where I live in Florida. Then they’re appearing on the West Coast. It’s like they’re looking for something.
SPEAKER 14 :
And to me, it’s also, and again, correct me if I’m wrong, but it also seems to me like it’s a grid search.
SPEAKER 16 :
That’s exactly right. Exactly.
SPEAKER 14 :
Okay. All right. So, again, you’re confirming what I’ve thought through the weekend. So, Brandon, I appreciate it. If anything else comes out, we’d love to have you back. And it’s been a joy. You’re welcome any time. I appreciate you very much.
SPEAKER 16 :
Thank you, sir.
SPEAKER 14 :
You’re very welcome. And really quick, what’s the website? How do folks find you?
SPEAKER 16 :
You can find me on 1945, F-O-R-T-Y-F-I-V-E.com.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right. Appreciate you, Brandon. Thank you very much. Thank you, sir. You bet. Have a great night. So there you go, folks. That really confirmed a lot of even what I was talking about in the first hour, other than it being radioactive waste, not necessarily a loose nuke, although I think even he said at this point, Who knows? It really boils down to this particular regime doesn’t want that on their record because they’ve already got enough there as it is, showing how incompetent they are. They don’t need one more level of. So thank you, Brandon, if you’re still listening. Thank you, by the way. I appreciate that very much. Hi-Fi Plumbing is next. 877-WE-HIGH-5. Electrical, plumbing, whatever it is, give them a call today. 877-WE-HIGH-5.
SPEAKER 13 :
The holidays are the busiest season for plumbers, and Hi-5 Plumbing, Electrical, Heating, and Cooling wants you to be ready now. There are several things you can do to prevent freezing, busted pipes, and other plumbing issues just as guests arrive. If you have plumbing inside cabinets, leave the doors open to warm them. especially if they are on an exterior wall. Hi-5 can better insulate pipes if this is a constant issue. And if you’re going away for a vacation, don’t forget to turn the water off to prevent those really bad emergency pipe breaks. When the cold dips lower than normal, leaving your faucets dripping will keep water flowing and prevent it from freezing. Plumbing inside your home is constantly degrading. So even if you haven’t had an issue in previous years, Hi-5 can help you make sure it’s still working. Have them out for a pre-holiday inspection and receive a waived inspection fee just for being a KLZ listener. Schedule your inspection today at klzradio.com slash plumbing.

SPEAKER 14 :
All right, some of the other things that you may hear regarding the drones, and this one, you know, there may be some truth to this. I don’t know. There may not be. I don’t know. It may just be coincidental. If what we just heard a moment ago is true, then it’s coincidence in the timing of. But there’s a big $895 billion, with a B, pork-filled defense bill that they’re trying to get pushed through before Trump takes office. And… There’s a lot of things in it that have nothing to do with defense, by the way, as usual. And so they’re trying to get this nearly trillion dollar defense bill, you know, pumped through. And so you kind of wonder is some of what they’re here’s what I’m going to say. I don’t think the drone thing has anything to do with this. Now, that isn’t to say that politicians won’t take every opportunity they can to use something going on in our world or in our country to then further their bill along. That I do know would happen. So do I think the drone activity happened because of the bill, which you’re going to see all over social media also? No, I don’t see it that way. Do I think those that are trying to get this bill rammed through will use what’s going on in the drone world as a way to push that bill forward? Yes, I do. I’m more of what we were talking about in the last segment, that it’s some sort of nuclear waste, hazardous something, something along those lines that they’re doing some grid searches on to try to figure out. And is it a lost nuke? I don’t know. Maybe. I have a hard time believing you can lose a nuke. But in this incompetent government we have right now, I think anything’s possible. So I’m not ruling that out. Now, does that make me lose sleep at night? No. And I got that question over the weekend. Are you losing sleep over any of this? Does any of this bother you? No. I sleep just fine. I know where I’m going. Something happens and all of a sudden, you know, the U.S. is obliterated. I know where I’m going. I’m not worried about that. It doesn’t mean I’m coy about it or that I don’t care about loved ones and so on. You know, I do. But at the end of the day, number one, what am I going to do to stop it? Absolutely nothing. come on air and talk about some of these things, I guess, but even that’s not going to stop it. I will tell you this, all of these loony tunes that are out there running around talking about this being some sort of an alien invasion, that’s not helping. These people are loons. And please, if you’re somebody that’s on our side, on the conservative side, don’t go down that path. Just don’t go. Don’t go down that path. There are no little green men. There are no aliens. There are no underground alien societies that live on Earth. And no, they haven’t been here for a gazillion years before we got here. And they’re not under the ocean either, Charlie. No, they’re not there. Charlie’s making fun. No, they’re not. And I mean this in all seriousness. Please, if you’re a conservative, especially a conservative Christian, don’t go there. There are no such thing as aliens. I don’t care what anybody says. I don’t care what you’ve read or what you’ve even seen. Number one, I don’t know anybody that’s ever seen one, and even some of the ones that say they do, I don’t think have a lot of credibility. I go back to what I said a little bit ago. If Charlie gave me great information, great wisdom years ago, and it’s this phrase, two words, people talk. People talk. In other words, a lot of the things that we think are one way, and there’s all sorts of conspiracies around, people talk. I mean, it’s the number one way that criminals get caught, by the way. People talk. Oh, yeah, I know what happened on such and such a night, or I’m going to give up such and such, or whatever. I mean, people talk. And they talk about all sorts of things. It’s why when folks win the big lottery— they don’t immediately run down and cash in because, again, people talk. When you find something out, people blab. It’s sort of, you know, it’s part of the sin nature, of course, but it’s ingrained in us. If you know something, you’re going to say something. So when it comes to some of these things, aliens and, you know, all this other nonsense that’s out there, if it were true, there’d be proof of it. And there’s not. And believe me, when I say proof, I mean real, literal, up close, you know, personal pictures, you name it. Believe me, they’d be there and we’d all see it by now if there were little green men. The fact of the matter is, folks, there’s not. Quit believing it. That is a lie of Satan, by the way. Stop believing in that nonsense because it is utter nonsense. And yes, I do believe that’s satanic in and of itself because there is no such thing. And I could go on and on about how vast our universe is and how God in all of his glory made us and made our earth and did what he did inside of our vast universe and how blessed we are to have what we have and on and on. I could go on for hours, literally. I won’t. But that’s the reality of it. And my feeling is to claim that there’s little green men somewhere out there in some outer space, you know, galaxy, shortchange is God. And some of you say, well, why? How so, John? We are made in God’s image. Scripture is very clear in that. We are made in his image. We were set on this earth with free will, by the way, to love on our own, not because we have to, but because we want to, a holy God, the holiest of all. No one, nothing comes close to him. He is it. And anybody that would think otherwise is a fool, and Scripture is very clear on that as well. So reality is, God made us in his image for this time, and no, there are no other galaxies and vast universes that contain anything else like us. We are unique to him, and he’s very clear in that. And if you don’t believe me, go read the Bible, and it will tell you that. So stop believing that there’s aliens and other beings out there, because the reality is, other than Satan and his demons… which those do exist, outside of that, there is no such thing. And I will stand by that until I go to the grave. And I think as Christians and as believers, if we go down that path, we’re very stupid and foolish to do so. Golden Eagle Financial is next. American Stonehenge by Mike Goldstein is more than just a children’s book. It’s a way to connect with the children in your life and encourage them to read to you and for themselves. When Mike Goldstein started writing American Stonehenge, he went after a specific problem. Children today don’t think for themselves, and test scores nationwide show that. American Stonehenge is gorgeously put together, so it’ll draw their attention. It’s filled with action, the prose flows as smooth as sand through an hourglass, and it’s historically accurate from the stories and the illustrations. But it’s also a portal to quality time with children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. It’s a way to connect with them while tacitly teaching them the importance of critical thought and giving them a break from scrolling in their free time. Find American Stonehenge on klzradio.com slash read and bring your family together this holiday season.
SPEAKER 13 :
Now, back to Rush to Reason, presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Somebody asked also, would I go to a large football game, stadium event, something along those lines, and or travel with all of what’s going on with drones and so on? My son Richard joining me now. And Richard, you already know the answer to that. Yeah, I don’t change my life at all because there’s drones flying around.
SPEAKER 03 :
You know, you’ve always said this, and maybe you haven’t said it on air, so I’m going to be busting your secret, which is, you know, obviously there’s a time to, you know, sort of be, you know, cautious and you don’t want to put yourself in unnecessary harm, you know, with certain things, but you’ve always been a firm believer that you’re not going to let someone else determine, you know, how you live your life or, you know, kind of what you do or where you go and, you know, whether it’s a you know, drones flying around or, you know, unfortunately this, you know, the shooting that happened in, you know, Wisconsin and stuff like, you know, the minute we start doing that, the minute that these people win.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, that’s what happened during COVID and I didn’t stop doing anything then and I wouldn’t stop now.
SPEAKER 03 :
Precisely. And that’s kind of what you and I, you and I have talked about many times, right? Especially with COVID is, you know, they were trying to restrict that and, you know, how you lived your life and everything else. And that’s kind of the fundamental thing. nature of America, which is the government can’t tell you or they should not be telling you how to do those things. And whether the government’s action or inaction on this drone type of stuff is whatever it is. I guess, Dad, actions speak louder than words, right? And the fact that the government, you know, Pentagon isn’t shooting these things out of the sky tells me that they are, obviously, they know what they are.
SPEAKER 14 :
Another factor in all of what we talked about in the last segment. All right, really quick, to change subjects and to get into something, you know, a little more fun, because I think this is, to me, this was absolutely awesome over the weekend. And I know that our Heisman Trophy winner, Hunter took a lot of heat. I watched it. I looked at it on X and social media and so on. And, you know, a lot of people saying that, you know, the guy from Boise State got gypped and this, that, and the other. And I didn’t comment. I felt like commenting on each one of those that, you know, they’re not even in, literally, literally, they’re not in the same league. And you cannot, I’m sorry, folks. I’m sorry if I’m going to step on toes. You cannot compare the Mountain West in that division to the rest of what’s going on in Division I football.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, no, you can’t, Dad. It’s different. And here’s the deal. That’s not to say that what Ashton Gentry has done is not crazy, because it is. He’s done a really good job, and he’s really great, and he’s already had a top-two rushing season in the entirety of college football. But if you’re going to say that the competition is the same from – You know, the Mountain West themes that Boise State played to the Big 12 that CU played, and it’s just different. And now, granted, I will say this, folks. The Big 12 is not as strong as the SEC or the ACC. But here’s the other piece of it, Dan. If you take Travis Hunter off of this CU team, and you saw what happened, he sat out the back half of that Kansas State game. CU lost.
SPEAKER 05 :
Right, big time.
SPEAKER 03 :
By three points or whatever it is, right? If he plays the back end of that game, he likely wins. That’s right. Yes, he played against Kansas, and they still lost and some other things. But the point being is the level of competition. is not the same. And I’ll just stand by and say that. There’s been other running backs that have had just as good a season as Ashton Genting, believe it or not, right? Melvin Gordon, he played for the Chargers and the Broncos out of Wisconsin. He had, honestly, very similar stats to that of Ashton Genting. He played at Wisconsin, right? Power 4 school in the Big Ten. And he didn’t win the Heisman. Now, you can argue maybe he should have, but ultimately it comes down to And the way I define it, Dad, and you’re kind of, if everything’s equal, and honestly, any other year, Gen. T probably should have won. The biggest issue, though, is I don’t know if we will ever see a guy like Travis Hunter again. What he did on the field both ways… Right, both sides of the ball, right. He was… And it’s a… stinking shame, in one of his other words, that he was not voted the best defense. He wasn’t even a finalist for the best defensive back. That’s a whole different conversation. But he was voted the best wide receiver in the country. I think he’s a better corner than he is wide receiver, but that’s a different conversation. The AP Player of the Year, the Walter Kemp which I think is the same award. He was, I think, the Bednarik, which is the best defensive player, which I don’t know how you get the best defensive player, but you don’t get the best defensive back. I feel like they’ve got to go together in a way. And so it’s just insane what he was able to do, Dad, the level of conditioning and just the level, the high level, elite level, that he was able to perform two positions at. And again, not taking anything away from Ashton Gentry. It was incredible. And I’ll be honest, Dad, I was saying this to some family and stuff over the weekend. I never thought, obviously I was basically two years old when Roshan Salam won, but the direction that CU was heading over the past number of years, everything going on, I would never have thought that CU would have another Heisman Trophy winner just because of their direction, that college football is going, and the Big Ten, the SEC, you may get a few. But to have what Travis Hunter did and to be able to witness it, obviously, in a time where I can remember it, is just surreal. And you can, obviously, you remember the Rashawn Salon season better than I do, but… And that was kind of special in its own right.
SPEAKER 14 :
Absolutely. Anytime your team, a player from your team, wins the Heisman, that’s a big deal. It doesn’t happen very often, as you know, Richard. I mean, that’s a very select thing that typically, as you know, doesn’t even happen outside of the SEC and some of those conferences, some of those schools, I guess I should say, Richard, at the end of the day. I also will say this, and I’m not trying to beat up the kid from Boise State. Great player. I think he’s a good kid when it’s all said and done. It’d be interesting to see how well he would do up against stronger defenses. I will say this, after watching Hunter play, honestly, you can put him on any team you want to.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, you can do anything you want to do. He immediately goes to the top of, again, most teams’ best cornerback and best receiver the minute that you do it. And I’ll be fascinated what he does in the pros, to be honest with you, Dad, because I think that he’s that special. And, again, it’s just really cool for CU and what Deion has done. And, honestly, that’s crazy. This kid out of high school, I’ll be the first to admit I thought he was crazy. You know, he foregoes Florida State. where he’s from Florida, moved to Georgia, but he was going to go to Florida State. He says, no, I’m going to go with Deion to Jackson State. Deion has a great year, gets hired, obviously, last year at CU. He transfers over, has a decent year last year, but kind of set the stage for this year, had this. It’s just crazy, his story. It really is inspirational. I don’t know the full story of his dad. If I had to guess, you’re probably in and out of, kind of in some trouble and some other things going on. He talks about pulling himself out. The crazy part is that his whole speech wasn’t written down. And that goes to tell you that all of those people that sort of impacted him, that he remembered, made a difference in his life because he remembered them off the top of his head, you know, from the guy that took him to get his first pair of, I mean, honestly, that you could, and I think Ashton Gentry is a good man. I actually think he’s a good Christian guy, to be honest with you. I think the Boise State coach is, but you know, there’s a kid, you know, if there’s someone for your kids to, you know, aspire to be or whatever else it might, he’s pretty good, right? Doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink, doesn’t party. you know, the worst thing you could argue is, you know, I’m not sure the dude, you know, I’m not sure what him and his girlfriend got going on. He seems to be unhappy with them a lot of the time, but that’s probably the worst thing you can say about the kid. Outside of that, he, you know, plays video games and wears onesies. You know, there’s, He’s a pretty simple kid. I actually think he’s a pretty cool guy. It’s a cool thing, Dad. Honestly, I’m pretty excited about it. It’s something that I never thought I’d see again, in all honesty.
SPEAKER 14 :
Talk about change in coaching. Belichick now going back to college, which is sort of a trend to do some things differently on the college level, correct?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, who would have thought? Honestly, if you had asked Andy and I, we thought maybe Belichick would go to Dallas, the Cowboys after this year, or even the Eagles, depending on their struggle, or even the Jets. But, yeah, he’s going to North Carolina, Dad, taking over for Mack Brown. So you’ve got an old guy taking over for an old guy. But it’s interesting because more and more of these programs with how they’re being run, Dad, is more almost like the minor leagues, right? And everyone’s always referred to college football as that. But it’s even more so now. with just some of the things that’s going on, right? These players are being paid, and in some cases they’re being paid lots of money. And it’s not as much about you sort of recruiting these kids, right? Yes, facilities matter and coaching. And Belichick can say he’s got the coaching, right? He’s going to bring in the staff that’s going to develop these kids. But it’s really what Deion got all the flack for last year, which is saying, hey, I’m going to start treating these kids like professionals. because that’s what they want to be, right? If you want to be a professional athlete, I’m going to start treating you like one. And Belichick essentially came out and said, that’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to basically build a staff that can really coach and develop you and prepare you for the next level. And everyone said, oh, no, you’ve got to get these kids out of high school. I’ll be curious to, number one, see how long Belichick stays. But number two, I’ll really be curious with him how much he recruits high school, similar to Deion, versus how much he pulls in the transfer portal. Because, again, Deion has said that over and over again. I’m only going to get a select number of high school kids, and then I’m really going to pull from the portal because these kids are ready to play, and it’s like free agency.
SPEAKER 14 :
Got it.
SPEAKER 03 :
So it’s an interesting major shift, Dad, and I think this is just the start. I don’t think it’s the end.

SPEAKER 14 :
All right, we are back, and it’s that time of the week where we do our car reviews. Richard, you just drove a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, and it’s not like the Land Cruisers of old, or maybe it is.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, I was going to say, there’s sort of a play on words here, right? It’s not like the Land Cruisers… Of the recent old, right? It’s not the ones that they just got rid of. And so for some of you, I guess, buffs or car buffs, we’ll call it, right? You’re more used to the bigger Land Cruiser, right? The more luxurious one. It had the TVs and all sorts of stuff on it. That is no longer the case. They actually got rid of that for a year, brought this back. But it’s not to be confused. This is a midsize SUV, five passengers. It’s right between like a 4Runner and a Sequoia, if you’re familiar with kind of the truck-based SUVs. There’s no longer a V8. It is a V6, and in this case, this was actually the hybrid version of it. I’ll kind of get to the details here. Yeah, basically, it’s got a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with the hybrid system, 326 horsepower. 465 pound feet of torque. This thing, Dad, is sort of meant to be bought and go out on the road, or I should say off the road in a lot of cases, right? This is meant to do that. And like you said, you are more familiar of the Land Cruisers of, I guess I’m going to call them yesteryear. This much more aligns with that.
SPEAKER 14 :
It does. I mean, yeah, way back in the day with the FJ40s, FJ60s, some of, again, you old car buffs that Richard just mentioned. I remember some of those vehicles from way back when. They were sort of a runoff of the Jeep CJs back in the day. And then the Land Cruisers, of course, came along. And they ran that way for a very long time until they really… I guess I could say, Richard, modernize that platform, and it was very popular around the world, not just here in the U.S., and people would drive those things for half a million miles and not exaggerating and came to love that vehicle. Well, as you said a moment ago, that particular model ended. You can get… You can basically get that vehicle only in a lot more luxurious form on the Lexus end of things, but it is not one of the same. That’s, I think, some of the confusion as well. In the past, Richard, you could buy the Land Cruiser or get a little bit fancier Lexus of the same basic vehicle. That is not the case anymore. This is more of that old traditional Land Cruiser style.
SPEAKER 03 :
It is. I mean, it’s related to the new Lexus GX in a way, but it’s different, right?
SPEAKER 14 :
But it’s not, yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
Because that GX, you can get with a third row and such, and this Land Cruiser, you can’t. And I’ll kind of get into the specifics, and then we’ll finish talking about the rest. Three trim levels, Dad, for this model year, 2024, 1958, which is, again, a throwback to kind of the no-nonsense, no-frills origin of the Land Cruiser. the medium edition, literally just called Land Cruiser, or the first edition, which is, you know, sort of, well, it’s what it sounds like, right? It’s kind of a special one. You can get some different things on it. You can spruce this vehicle up. The one we drove was not spruced up, right? It had cloth seats. It had, honestly, Dad, heck, it had a, it didn’t even have a power driver’s seat. I’m manually, you know, pumping myself up if I wanted to sit higher or lower myself down or scoot forward. Whatever it might be there does have some things as far as dual zone climate. And it’s got a smaller center screen. Again, we drove the 1958 edition, I want to specify there, which, again, is supposed to be an ode to the older generation. As it sat, Dad, again, not a whole lot of options on it. As it sat, $60,790, which, again, you have to be the judge of it. I will say this. At our altitude, and I think off-road, which we didn’t get a chance to take it and we’re even limited in what we can or can’t do, this vehicle ran really well up here at our altitude, Dad, with the I-Force Max. underneath the hood. This thing got up and went. It went when you wanted it to. Some people argue that the braking was a little bit subpar, but what I would say, Dad, is it’s still a big SUV. I mean, it’s not a small car by any stretch of the imagination. So, again, it’s not meant to be a little sports car that’s going to be able to slam on the brakes in that sense. But they’ve done a nice job at allowing for some upgrades if you want to, depending on what you’re looking for. This particular model had a roof rack, had some rock rails on it, In terms of styling, Dad, it’s not like the Land Cruisers of yesteryear. It’s more modernized, right? It is. It’s got some sleek, a little bit boxy. Again, folks, if you’ve seen the new Lexus GXs running around, you’ve seen these. But this is not the Land Cruiser of the outgoing model, Dad. And that’s not to say it’s a bad thing. And like you say, sort of an ode, and a lot of people are going to know this car, your Land Cruisers from… from many years ago, that’s kind of where they want to get back to, right? They want this thing to be the do-it-all car for you, the do-it-all SUV, right? You can take the kids to school and you can go off-road. You can take this thing camping. You can tow your camper depending on how you want to do it. It really is meant to be that sport utility vehicle, right, the SUV. Mm-hmm. It’s really meant to do that in a lot of cases. And so I think they’ve done a nice job on it. My only, honestly, nitpick, Dad, is just for the 1958, you’re paying $60,000 for a car, and you don’t get any of the frills that I mentioned.
SPEAKER 05 :
Got it.
SPEAKER 03 :
But that’s just a personal experience, right? That’s more of my personal opinion. Some of you, Dad, and some of your listeners may say, hey, when I’m off-road and I’m doing some of this other stuff, I don’t want to mess with any of that, right? I don’t want to have the risk of my seat not working because I get some water in it or whatever it might be. So outside of that, very comfortable, quiet. The roof rack did add a little bit of wind noise driving down the road, but that’s to be expected pretty much on any vehicle when you start adding noise. some additional accessories, Dad, as far as that goes. That’s right. Overall, was really pleased with it. Fuel economy, let me get that for folks really quick, was an average of 23. And again, this is partly, it’s a heavy vehicle, Dad, but due to that hybrid technology where you can actually hear and feel the engine, shut off at times. 22 city, 25 highway. And again, we were actually right there about 23, 24 miles per gallon. So for folks that want to learn more, they’re starting to get some leads on the dealership data. I’ve seen several of them driving around town. They are out there. We encourage folks to get out as we always do test drive it because what we think that and what we like or don’t like is someone may differ completely from that. And so that’s why we encourage you to get out to your Toyota dealership and let them know that John and Richard Rush from Drive Radio and Rush to Reason sent you.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right, 30 seconds or so left before I let you go. One last thing, never drop the ball before crossing the goal line as you head into the end zone, right?
SPEAKER 03 :
Dad, in sports, there’s singular plays that change the trajectory of a game, and this could change the trajectory of a season. The Broncos were close to going down 20-7, and momentum is a crazy thing that they probably wouldn’t have gotten back. But because the Colts running back Jonathan Taylor decides to drop the ball literally a half a foot from the goal line, and I think they got the call right, it literally— Yeah, it came out of his hands before he got across the plane. It changed it from the Broncos needing to win two of their next three to where they can get in without actually winning any of their next three at the right combination. But they need to win one of their next three games, and the Broncos will be in the playoffs since the first time since they won the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER 14 :
All right, I’ll leave you with that, Richard. Thanks. Have a great rest of your day. And Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning coming up next.
