SPEAKER 03 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 06 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 05 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 06 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
SPEAKER 15 :
Get a job, sir. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 02 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 04 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s Rush to Reason, with your host, John Rush. Presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five. Actually, it’s Andy Pate, party of choice.
SPEAKER 09 :
And welcome to our number two, I’m Andy Pate, filling in for John Rush, along with Ashley Carter. Ashley, are you having fun? I am having a blast. You bet, you bet. Okay, and now, just recently out on work release from my kitchen… My blushing bride, Corey. Corey, how are you?
SPEAKER 17 :
I’m doing great, and I cannot wait to mess up that kitchen for you tomorrow.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 17 :
See, Ashley, we have the coolest kitchen. It’s self-cleaning. No matter how big of a mess I make, the next morning it’s spick and span. It’s amazing.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, you’re going to have to tell me how to get a kitchen like that.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah, I know. I’m trying to figure it out.
SPEAKER 09 :
You have to marry a slave, which she did. And every time she cooks, I clean, folks, and I clean a lot. I’m a clean freak, aren’t I? It’s pretty disgusting, so… Okay, well, what we are talking about is cartoon movies. Corey, we watch a lot of cartoons, don’t we?
SPEAKER 17 :
We do.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes, and Ashley watches a lot of cartoons.
SPEAKER 17 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
So we have three cartoon aficionados. The worrisome thing here, of course, is normally I’m here with, you know, Luke Cash Man, Tanner Cole Man. Now I’m outnumbered.
SPEAKER 17 :
It’s good for you once in a while.
SPEAKER 09 :
This is very feminine.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yes. I mean, I’m going to balance it out a bit.
SPEAKER 09 :
Are we going to be like, you know, relating and doing each other’s hair by the end of the hour? Probably. Yeah. Okay. Well, I’m up for that. Let’s start with my first movie, which I think is a very good one. That is Tangled. Here we go.
SPEAKER 12 :
Now I’m here, blinking in the starlight. Now I’m here, suddenly I see. Standing here, it’s all so clear. I’m where I’m meant to be.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. Very pretty song, isn’t it?
SPEAKER 17 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
Now, the light she was seeing was the oven light. He had her cleaning in the kitchen.
SPEAKER 17 :
You are so watching chick flicks.
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m watching chick flicks. Am I in trouble again?
SPEAKER 17 :
All day tomorrow.
SPEAKER 09 :
This was a cute movie.
SPEAKER 17 :
I loved this movie. I called it Homeschoolers Gone Wild.
SPEAKER 09 :
It really is. And Corey was homeschooled.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yes. I was homeschooled for elementary school.
SPEAKER 09 :
Were you really? Yeah. Okay, so when you watched Tangled, did you kind of get that feel, that vibe? Yeah, a little bit. Yeah, okay. Ashley, you’re next.
SPEAKER 16 :
Go! My favorite movie of all time is The Little Mermaid. Oh!
SPEAKER 09 :
The Little Mermaid. The Little Mermaid. I think I… Here we go.
SPEAKER 11 :
I’m ready to know what the people know. Ask them my questions and get some answers. What’s a fire and why does it, what’s the word?
SPEAKER 09 :
It burns so you can cook things. Here we go.
SPEAKER 12 :
When’s it my turn? Wouldn’t I love, love to explore that shore above all?
SPEAKER 11 :
Out of the sea. Wish I could be part of that world.
SPEAKER 09 :
And that was Jodie Benson, by the way. What a beautiful voice.
SPEAKER 16 :
Beautiful voice, beautiful song. One of the most important songs of the movie, too. Yeah. Jeffrey Katzenberg, in charge of the animation department at the time, wanted to cut that song out. And the lyricist, Howard Ashford, said, over my dead body.
SPEAKER 09 :
You wanted to cut out part of my world?
SPEAKER 16 :
He wanted to cut part of your world because he thought audiences would get bored.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, my gosh. Wow.
SPEAKER 17 :
Talk about out of touch.
SPEAKER 09 :
No. Listen to the ladies. They have this one right. Go. Go.
SPEAKER 17 :
Okay, so one of our favorites is Hercules.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, yes.
SPEAKER 17 :
That’s a good one.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, got a little here. Got a little here. Here we go.
SPEAKER 15 :
I am on my way. I can go the distance. I don’t care how far. Somehow I’ll be strong. I know every mile will be worth my while. I would go most anywhere to find where I belong.
SPEAKER 09 :
The only thing I didn’t like is that song was actually too short. It was such a great song. I wish he had gone on. It was so much fun.
SPEAKER 16 :
Such a good song.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, well, since we’re talking about songs, and there’s a lot of songs in these movies, what would you say is the greatest song ever sung in a cartoon movie?
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, gosh.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, I’m going to put one up. Here we go. This might be it. I’m never going back.
SPEAKER 10 :
The past is in my head.
SPEAKER 1 :
Let it go. Let it go.
SPEAKER 10 :
And I’ll rise like a dragon.
SPEAKER 09 :
Charlie, you did the voiceover for that, right? Yeah, John’s very glad he’s not here because he hates all these songs. Oh, my gosh. Idina Menzel, of course, singing that. What do you think? Could that arguably, at least when you look at the cartoonist you’re going on at the same time with her building the Ice Castle, I thought it was probably the most impressive music scene in cartoon history. What do you think?
SPEAKER 16 :
I would say it’s probably one of them. I wouldn’t say it’s the most impressive, but I would say it’s one of them.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. For sure. What do you think? What would you say it is?
SPEAKER 16 :
The opening sequence to The Hunchback of Notre Dame, I think that that is both beautifully animated and beautifully sang. The Bells of Notre Dame, that song is, I would say, probably one of the best songs to come out of animation.
SPEAKER 09 :
What about Worry He Sings Out There? That was pretty good.
SPEAKER 16 :
That one’s good, too.
SPEAKER 09 :
That was a good one. But yeah, not this good.
SPEAKER 16 :
No, not that good. But I’d say The Bells of Notre Dame, when you combine the animation with it, that’s when you get up there with Let It Go. It’s very impressive.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, Ashley, you’re up.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay. You know what? I can vibe away from Disney for a second because… No, we don’t allow that. No, not allowed.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, go ahead.
SPEAKER 16 :
No, we’re going to DreamWorks because by far an incredible cartoon movie is The Prince of Egypt.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, that was really good. And that was their first one, by the way.
SPEAKER 16 :
Mm-hmm. They did Prince of Egypt and then Shrek right when DreamWorks became a corporation.
SPEAKER 09 :
Isn’t that something? I mean, Shrek and a story about Moses. I know. I’m sorry, but that’s pretty broad.
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, it’s actually incredible. The studio called it Getting Shrecked. If you failed as an animator on The Prince of Egypt, they would send you to the dungeons to go work on Shrek because they thought it was a terrible movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
Really? Yes. It was called Getting Shrecked.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, my gosh. It was awesome. Yeah. I loved Shrek. Yeah, they thought it was going to be a complete flop of a movie, so if you failed on The Prince of Egypt, you were sent to work on Shrek.
SPEAKER 09 :
You know, it’s surprising, though. I mean, how could you think Shrek was going to fail with all that vocal talent?
SPEAKER 16 :
They didn’t have the vocal talent to begin with.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, they didn’t? No. So this is before they, oh, wow, before they had Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah, this was when Shrek was going through its really dark, bad period of rewrites and development and all that stuff. I did not know that.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, okay. Well, right now, Captain America is in the dark period of its, what is it, Charlie, its third or fourth rewrite? Yeah, they’re reshooting scenes again for Captain America. It’s supposed to come out this spring, and it will. Okay, in like what, about four months, five months? And this thing, when they have done showings in advance to advance audiences to get a feel for, okay, how much do you like it? And when they do this, and I’ve actually hosted some of these, they’ll also then say, okay, what do you think needs to be fixed? And they have not liked the movie every single time.
SPEAKER 16 :
That’s not reassuring.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s not reassuring.
SPEAKER 16 :
No.
SPEAKER 09 :
You know, this is the one where Harrison Ford is Red Hulk. Yes, I’m not kidding.
SPEAKER 17 :
Harrison Ford needs to retire.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 17 :
I love him, but enough. Come on.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, anyway, they’re going through their dark period. But what I’m saying is Shrek came around. Shrek came around and was terrific. Do you think maybe Captain America? Brave New World?
SPEAKER 16 :
Maybe. I don’t have high hopes, but.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. I don’t either. I’ll be honest. Okay, Corey, you’re up.
SPEAKER 17 :
I’m going to go with The Lady and the Tramp. That’s a good one. That’s a beautiful movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
That is a classic.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah. I haven’t watched that in forever.
SPEAKER 09 :
Haven’t you?
SPEAKER 17 :
No.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah. And if I keep getting in trouble, I’m going to be watching it, aren’t I?
SPEAKER 17 :
Oh, I’ve got a whole list of them already.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s a chick flick.
SPEAKER 17 :
All these notes I’m making.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, you’re making. Oh, gosh. Those look painful. All right, well, why don’t we go to break on that note, and we’ll come back and do some more cartoon movies. Ready? Perfect. Veteran windows and doors, they often beat national retailer prices by 30 to 50%. For greater windows and doors, hey, call Veteran at 303-529-0720.
SPEAKER 24 :
Veteran Windows and Doors challenge you to ask every window and door salesperson about the ratings of their windows and doors. Owner Dave Bancroft knows other window and door companies are trained only to sell, not on whether their windows are even engineered for your home. Dave has an app where he can show you the exact door the other company showed you, but Dave will also include the correct efficiency ratings and codes necessary for your home. The other companies’ doors often don’t meet code, energy-efficient ratings, or give you crucial tax credits on your products. Also, Veterans installation methods are far stricter than other companies. They do more flashing, sealing, and installation than is required to ensure your windows and doors are going to work the way they’re supposed to. And Veteran now offers financing. Get 40% off and free installation when working with Veteran windows and doors by going to klzradio.com.

SPEAKER 09 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, Andy Pate filling in for John Rush, along with Ashley Carter.
SPEAKER 16 :
What’s up?
SPEAKER 09 :
Are you having fun?
SPEAKER 16 :
Having a lot of fun.
SPEAKER 09 :
And on work release from dusting, my blushing bride, Corey. Corey, are you having a good time?
SPEAKER 17 :
I’m having a good time, and I’m going to have more fun tomorrow watching movies with you.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh gosh, they’re all going to be chick flicks, aren’t they?
SPEAKER 17 :
All of them.
SPEAKER 09 :
You brought it along yourself. Folks, just so you know, folks, I am going to suffer. tomorrow. But you’re not suffering when you see the next movie I mention because it is arguably the greatest cartoon movie ever made. How to Train Your Dragon. Here we go.
SPEAKER 15 :
If you ever want to get out there to fight dragons, you need to stop all this. But you just pointed to all of me. Yes, that’s it. Stop being all of you.
SPEAKER 03 :
oh yeah you sir are playing a dangerous game keeping this much raw vikingness contained there will be consequences i’ll take my chances so okay ashley um what do you think of the fact they’re doing a live remake of that don’t like it yeah i don’t either
SPEAKER 16 :
It goes back to my opinion on all live action remakes at this point. I don’t care if they’re good. I don’t need it. I didn’t ask for it.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, didn’t need it. Didn’t ask for it. And by the way, a real super huge advantage of the cartoon movie was the vocal talents for what was his name?
SPEAKER 16 :
The actor for the actor. I don’t know.
SPEAKER 09 :
I forget, but he was hilarious, right? His voice, just his vocal talents. And I see the live action ones, they’re doing the ads now. This guy doesn’t have any kind of vocal talent like that. He just seems like a young actor.
SPEAKER 16 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
That they put in there to play Hiccup.
SPEAKER 16 :
Hey, you’re young and scrawny and fairly good looking. Go play Hiccup.
SPEAKER 09 :
There you go. Good for you.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 09 :
Ashley, you were up next.
SPEAKER 16 :
I’ll point out a movie that my dad actually really likes, 101 Dalmatians. Classic Disney. That’s great. Yeah. That’s actually a really fun era of Disney because it was, I think, very… That was before Walt Disney passed away. But it was in this era where they were just doing scratchy animation. So you can see all the pencil lines and all the scratch marks in it. And it’s just… It created a really fun…
SPEAKER 09 :
It was much more raw, wasn’t it? Yeah. And kind of cool.
SPEAKER 16 :
It was very raw, for sure.
SPEAKER 09 :
Very retro. Yeah, yeah. No, it was a great movie, too, and what a great villain. Yes. I mean, one of the greatest villains in Disney history, you know.
SPEAKER 17 :
With an iconic song.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, very much so. Okay, Corey, you’re up.
SPEAKER 17 :
Okay, I haven’t watched this one since I was a kid, but An American Tale. Oh.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, is that with mice? Yeah, that’s with Fiefel.
SPEAKER 17 :
Cute little mice? Yeah, Fiefel. The little immigrant mouse.
SPEAKER 14 :
The little immigrant mouse?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes. Was he an illegal immigrant mouse?
SPEAKER 17 :
Not at all, no.
SPEAKER 09 :
I mean, did he go through customs? I mean, was he, you know? I mean, is Trump going to let him stay? I guess that’s what I’m asking.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yes. In fact, he is all for Trump.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. So no mass deportation for this little mouse.
SPEAKER 17 :
Not for that mouse. He’ll rat out the illegals.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, well, good. This is a patriotic mouse. Yes. You know who else is patriotic? John in Cheyenne. John, how are you? John, I want to ask you a quick question here. Yes. Has there ever been one of these cartoon movies made that is so inspirational, so hopeful, that it could give hope to the New York Giants?
SPEAKER 18 :
No. Okay.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s John’s team.
SPEAKER 18 :
Got it. Sorry, John. We’re playing for the number one pick right now.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, that’s really sad. Although, you know, I played earlier, let it go. That’s what my Packers receivers keep saying to themselves when the ball comes. They lead the league in drops. So we both get a little bit depressed, but you guys are really hurting. Okay, John, do you have any cartoon movies?
SPEAKER 18 :
Andy, I had to put a little testosterone back in this hour. Oh, please do. I’m hurting. How about Heavy Metal? Yes! Yes! One of the best movie soundtracks ever. Rated very R. And the animation and the storyline I thought was terrific. The best character in that movie was the character that John Candy voiced. Who was that? You remember him?
SPEAKER 14 :
No.
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, he was Dan. He was like the scrawny kid that became the superhero when he went to the planet. That was John Candy? Are you serious? And John, he was hilarious. John Candy voiced that character, and I always thought he was the best. part of that whole movie he was just so funny now the movie was fairly porny pretty funny yeah I mean it was not a PG it was I think if I remember I saw it in a movie I’m a little older than you so and I think it was rated R I think they only allowed you to see that if you were like in your 70s no I was either 16 or 17 But, you know, at that point.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, wait a minute. Here’s another one. Here’s another one. Another movie that had great music. Transformers, the movie. Did you ever see that one? I have not seen it. It’s the old cartoon. Leonard Nimoy is one of the villains. Okay. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it was great. It was just totally rocking out the entire time. Not much of a movie, but who cares?
SPEAKER 16 :
My husband loves that movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
Does he love that movie? He loves that movie. So do I. I’ve seen it like five times.
SPEAKER 18 :
If you’re going to talk about Disney, I would say the original Pinocchio. Because that had, you know, what was the island where all the bad kids went? I can’t remember. Pleasure Island. Thank you.
SPEAKER 09 :
Let me ask you, hypothetically, you know, according to that movie, how long in terms of miles should Adam Schiff’s nose be?
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, he’s from California, and it should hit the Mississippi. Yes.
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m sorry, but there are a lot of lying politicians on both sides, by the way. But the Dems, I, of course, feel they have more. But he outpaces all of them. He makes them all look honest. This guy, I have never seen somebody who just lies so freely and does not care.
SPEAKER 18 :
Remember the character from Saturday Night Live? Yes. John Lovitz did it.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 18 :
That’s Adam Schiff. That’s what I think.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, my gosh. John, well done, sir. Do you have any more? Hey. Does your wife have any cartoon movies?
SPEAKER 18 :
The only other thing is the one that stuck in my head like a bad evil worm was when you played the song from Frozen because I’ve got a 13- and 12-year-old granddaughter.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, I’m sorry.
SPEAKER 18 :
So when that came out, that was like That’s all they wanted to watch over and over and over again.
SPEAKER 09 :
John, when I hear it, I feel pretty personally. Okay. And yes, I do the dance.
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, well, no, I just, I hear it and I cringe and I’m like, Let me find my man card, please.
SPEAKER 09 :
You know what I do for my man card now? No matter which one of these movies I watch, it could be Tangled, it could be Frozen, it could be whatever. When the Chick song comes on, I do the Trump dance. I feel empowered.
SPEAKER 18 :
I’m doing it right now. Andy, you’ve got to do one thing tomorrow. What? No matter what movies you’re on, You’ve got to watch one John Wayne movie to keep your man card.
SPEAKER 09 :
Dude, I’m in chick flick hell tomorrow. He earned it.
SPEAKER 17 :
He earned it, John.
SPEAKER 09 :
There will be no happiness for me, okay?
SPEAKER 18 :
Even if it’s A Quiet Man, which is not a Western. This is true. You’ve got to watch a John Wayne movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
I will see if I can, you know, I don’t know, maybe drug her with her food and get some time to myself and do that. Outside of that, I think it’s looking pretty bad for the guy here. Looking bad for the home team, John.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, have a happy Thanksgiving. I’ll be watching football all day.
SPEAKER 09 :
Happy Thanksgiving. I’ll be watching chick flicks and crying. Good to see you, John. Take care. All right. Why don’t we take a break and we’ll come back and do more cartoon movies. I got a ton of them. You ready?
SPEAKER 14 :
I’m ready.
SPEAKER 09 :

SPEAKER 09 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, Andy Pate filling in for John Rush, along with Ashley Carter and my blushing bride, Corey O’Kane. Let’s keep up with the musicals, the touching stuff. Like I said, you know, I am becoming more feminine by the moment as I work with you two. Okay. I’m outnumbered. I know it. It’s changing me. And so I want to go to another beautiful musical moment from a cartoon. Here we go.
SPEAKER 25 :
I guess that could work. We have to try. What would Brine Boy Tano do if he was here right now? He’d make a plan and he’d follow through. That’s what Brine Boy Tano’d do. When Brine Boy Tano was in the Olympics, skating for the gold. He did two stock howls and a triple lutz while wearing a blindfold. When Brine Boy Tano was in the Alps, fighting grizzly bears. He used his magical fire breath and saved the maiden’s fair.
SPEAKER 1 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 25 :
Oh my. South Park! Woohoo!
SPEAKER 09 :
Very feminine movie. Yeah, no, totally. I feel like I’m relating. We should go shopping.
SPEAKER 1 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 16 :
Okay, Ashley, you’re up. I just have to mention with South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker are musical geniuses. They are. Also had a hand in the Book of Mormon. Yeah, I know. Which is hilarious to me.
SPEAKER 09 :
They are very talented, actually. Very talented and hilarious. Okay, you’re up.
SPEAKER 16 :
So my movie, probably another niche one. We’ll see if anyone actually knows this. It’s The Swan Princess, which came out in 1997, I believe. Not Barbie’s The Swan Lake. Not Swan Lake. Swan Princess. Swan Princess.
SPEAKER 09 :
I have never heard of this.
SPEAKER 16 :
I remember it coming out.
SPEAKER 17 :
I don’t know if I ever saw it, though.
SPEAKER 16 :
I loved this movie as a kid. I liked the original three sequels because they came out, I think, in 97, 98, and 99. Okay. And they’re by Nest Entertainment, which is a family entertainment company, a Richard Rich film. And then 14 years after the third Swan Princess came out, they came out with another one. And now there’s a total of 12 movies in this series. And I own all of them. Wow.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, you know, I’m trying to relate to you as well as I can here, and all I can think of is tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and if you don’t have a turkey, a swan would do.
SPEAKER 16 :
Sure, just make sure it’s not a princess.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. I got nothing. Is it a musical?
SPEAKER 16 :
It’s a musical of sorts. They’ve got a couple of songs in there. Swan, princess. Yeah, the first three are hand-drawn animations. The other nine are all computer-generated.
SPEAKER 09 :
I want to ask a question here of both of you. How many princesses do you think are in cartoon movies? I mean, my Lord, almost every character is a princess. Even the guys are princesses. Everybody’s a princess.
SPEAKER 17 :
They’re called princes.
SPEAKER 09 :
They’re princes? Yes. Is that a male princess is a prince? Yes. Gee, I didn’t know that. Sure. Thank you.
SPEAKER 17 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 09 :
I don’t know, they’re wearing tights and dancing. Kind of wimpy. I think they’re princesses. Corey, you’re up!
SPEAKER 17 :
Okay, there’s so many things I could say right now.
SPEAKER 09 :
I know you could.
SPEAKER 17 :
I’m going to exercise self-control, and I’m going to say Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh! No, that’s very cute.
SPEAKER 17 :
It is cute, and it’s a classic.
SPEAKER 09 :
It is a classic. Okay, well, let’s go to another classic here. And this is more music, but it’s from a movie that wasn’t about music, and it’s Barking at the Moon from Bolt.
SPEAKER 12 :
How the wind feels on my cheeks When I’m barking at the moon There is no home like the one you’ve got Cause that home belongs to you
SPEAKER 09 :
That was a great song. And there was another great song at the end of the movie with the two stars, John Travolta and what’s her name?
SPEAKER 16 :
Miley Cyrus.
SPEAKER 09 :
Miley Cyrus. It was a really cool song.
SPEAKER 16 :
Ashley, you’re up. Next movie for me, we’re going back to the Disney Renaissance, which is Beauty and the Beast.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, Beauty and the Beast. Don’t know if I have something. Oh, yeah, I do. A little piece. Here we go.
SPEAKER 12 :
Was it alarming? Who’d have ever thought that this could be true?
SPEAKER 11 :
That he’s no Prince Charming, that there’s something in him that I simply didn’t see.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, that’s such a cute movie.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah. It’s a good one.
SPEAKER 09 :
Was that yours, Beauty and the Beast?
SPEAKER 17 :
It was Ashley’s.
SPEAKER 09 :
That was Ashley’s? That was mine. You did Beauty and the Beast, so Corey is up.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
Go, Corey.
SPEAKER 17 :
I’m going to do a more recent one, Migration.
SPEAKER 09 :
That was a surprisingly good movie. It was. For all those who have not seen Migration, and that’s a lot of you because it didn’t do great sales, it was well-reviewed. I gave it a good review. It is a surprisingly fun and funny little cartoon movie about a family of, what, geese?
SPEAKER 17 :
Ducks. And we were worried there’d be some kind of ulterior motive with immigration, and there was nothing like that at all. So there’s no agenda. It’s just a cute movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
No agenda, stupid fun. I enjoyed it. Next up is Brett and Thornton. Brett, what do you have for us, sir? And thank you for coming because I’m outnumbered here. I need guys. This is great.
SPEAKER 07 :
You need all the help you can get right now.
SPEAKER 09 :
I need a lot of help, Brett. Now, do you happen to know Miss Ashley?
SPEAKER 07 :
I do know Ashley.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, admit how.
SPEAKER 07 :
I’m her father.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, my gosh. You did this to me. Nah, she’s wonderful. Thank you, sir. She’s a good gal. Well, what do you have for us? Do you have any cartoon movies? Do you watch cartoons because your daughter does all the time?
SPEAKER 07 :
I kind of got her started on a lot of them, raising her.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER 07 :
The classic Disney, all the classic Disneys.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, yes.
SPEAKER 07 :
I mean, you know, Sword in the Stone, Lady and the Tramp, Dalmatians, Fantasia. All the classic Disneys.
SPEAKER 09 :
I had a hard time with Fantasia. I needed some dialogue. I need more talking and maybe more, you know, more killing, like, you know, saving private Ryan, that kind of thing.
SPEAKER 07 :
Adventure. Yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
Do you think saving private Ryan could be made into a musical? What do you think?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I don’t know about a musical, but if you, you go back to, uh, John who called with the, uh, um, Heavy Metal? Yeah. You go back to around the 70s, 80s, you had Fire and Ice. That was an awesome animated movie. And then there was Wizards.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, wow. Wizards. I’d totally forgotten about that. That is such a classic.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, those are some heavy adult illustrated movies.
SPEAKER 09 :
Very adult, but the illustration for Wizards was very cool.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, and Fire and Ice was really good, too. I mean, it was like the Frank, I can’t remember his last name. He did a lot of the fantasy artwork on calendars and Conan the Barbarian. Wow. Things like that. That was kind of like what Fire and Ice, that genre.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, very cool, Brad. Very cool. Got any others?
SPEAKER 07 :
And Watership Down.
SPEAKER 09 :
That one I don’t know. What’s Watership Down?
SPEAKER 07 :
It’s about rabbits, and it’s a dark, deep movie. A dark movie about rabbits? Yeah. Wow. Look it up sometime if you have nothing else to do in your desk.
SPEAKER 09 :
I am sorry. I’ve just never thought of cute little furry creatures doing a dark movie, so this is Watership Down. Okay. Well, all right. I will have to… Look into that.
SPEAKER 07 :
But of course, for the best, it’s always Disney.
SPEAKER 16 :
Always Disney.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well done, sir. Thank you so much. You’re welcome. Have a good one. Have a good one. Have a happy Thanksgiving. Up next is Mickey in Denver. Mickey, what do you got for us?
SPEAKER 07 :
I’ve got a second Wizards from 1977.
SPEAKER 09 :
Now, is that the same one that we were just talking about?
SPEAKER 07 :
Same one. Yeah. Yeah. It was cool, wasn’t it? Your mother never taught you. It was cool. That’s the best line of the movie. But since he’s already got that one, I’ll go with Secrets of NIMH.
SPEAKER 17 :
Oh, I forgot about that one.
SPEAKER 09 :
Man, you’re doing the old classics. Now, golly, who did the artistry of that? I’m trying to remember. I don’t remember either, but it was great. It was great. Well, thank you, sir. Thanks for the classics. We needed some classics. Thank you. Well done. All right, I’m going to go a little more… Not quite as classic. How about Mulan? We need another song. Here we go.
SPEAKER 12 :
Who is that girl I see staring straight back at me? Why is my reflection someone I don’t know? Though I’ve tried When will my reflection show?
SPEAKER 09 :
All right. That was a great song. Yeah. And that was a song that needed to be twice as long. Definitely. It was way too quick. It was beautiful. Let me ask you this, Ashley. Could Disney put out Mulan today in light of the fact of how they’re trying to shrink away from all the trans agenda stuff because it’s gotten them killed? Now, she wasn’t trans, but she was dressing up as a guy, cross-dressing. I thought it was very funny. I thought it was a great movie.
SPEAKER 16 :
I thought it was great. There’s a line in it that almost brought its rating up to PG-13.
SPEAKER 09 :
Which was?
SPEAKER 16 :
My, what is it? It’s like my family, we’re all acupuncturists. Well, your great-granddaughter’s a cross-dresser. Oh, that’s right. And it’s like that line alone almost brought its rating up to PG-13. Oh, wow. Just for using the word cross-dresser.
SPEAKER 17 :
That is so funny how times have changed.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, all I know is Eddie Murphy was dominant in that movie. He was so funny. Okay, Ashley, you’re up.
SPEAKER 16 :
Oof. All right. You know what? A little more testosterone for you here, Andy. Oh, thank you.
SPEAKER 09 :
This one’s not necessarily a chick flick. I’m feeling very feminine.
SPEAKER 16 :
It is one of my husband’s favorite, a very underrated movie, Treasure Planet.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes. From Disney. I like Treasure Planet.
SPEAKER 16 :
That one’s such a good one.
SPEAKER 09 :
I’ve seen that like three times. My wife has seen it none.
SPEAKER 16 :
No, I haven’t seen that one. Now you need to watch it.
SPEAKER 09 :
Now you wouldn’t watch that with me. Okay. By the way, Don Bluth, I think, was the guy who did Secret of Nimh. I’m trying to remember. Yeah.
SPEAKER 16 :
I think so. Don Bluth did a lot of films when he left Disney. Yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
He did, and he was very good. Yeah. Corey, you’re up.
SPEAKER 17 :
I’m going to go with a classic, Peter Pan.
SPEAKER 09 :
Peter Pan. Talk about cross-dressing. Okay, here’s a scene from Zootopia. The sloth at the DMV. Nine.
SPEAKER 19 :
THD-03. T. HD-03. H. D03. D03. Zero. Three.
SPEAKER 08 :
Hey Flash, want to hear a joke?
SPEAKER 14 :
No!
SPEAKER 08 :
Sure.
SPEAKER 18 :
What do you call a three-humped camel? I don’t know what do you call Three humped camel. Three humped camel.
SPEAKER 09 :
Pregnant. Anyway, they were making fun of DMV employees with sloths and it was classic.
SPEAKER 16 :
Perfectly timed. That whole sequence, I would not want it to be any shorter or longer. That was just the perfect sequence.
SPEAKER 09 :
It was very funny.
SPEAKER 16 :
For sloth humor.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, you’re up. All right.
SPEAKER 16 :
Let’s go with another underrated one. Meet the Robinsons. Oh. That is a good movie. That’s a really good one. The song at the end never fails to make my husband and I cry when we rewatch it. And that movie is just very touching. Very wonderful. Kind of wish it’s what our future looked like.
SPEAKER 09 :
I think it’s great that you can say on air that your husband cries. I think he’s really going to be happy with you for that. Okay. Corey, you’re up.
SPEAKER 17 :
All right. I’m going to go with one that’s a little bit darker. We’re going to go with Batman and Dracula. Okay.
SPEAKER 09 :
Ooh, that was a fun little movie.
SPEAKER 17 :
It is. It’s one I always forget about, but every time we watch it, we’re like, oh, gosh, we forgot how good this is.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, now here’s one of my – I’ve got to do another song because this is from a movie that had some beautiful music, and almost nobody saw this cartoon. It’s called Anastasia.
SPEAKER 12 :
Let this be your sign Let this wrong be mine Let it lead me to
SPEAKER 09 :
And I could keep playing it, but we’re running short on time. Beautiful song.
SPEAKER 16 :
Beautiful song. Another great Don Bluth movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yep. Ashley, you’re up.
SPEAKER 16 :
We’ll go on the Don Bluth kick. Thumbelina, also starring Jodie Benson. That was Jodie Benson in Thumbelina.
SPEAKER 09 :
Wow. I did not know that. She has such a great voice.
SPEAKER 17 :
Iconic.
SPEAKER 09 :
Corey, you’re up.
SPEAKER 17 :
How about Teen Titans Go to the movies?
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, I love that movie.
SPEAKER 17 :
If you want something random and weird and just goofy, that’s your movie.
SPEAKER 09 :
I forced Corey to watch Teen Titans Go now and then, which has really damaged our marriage. And it is the stupidest little cartoon.
SPEAKER 17 :
Absolutely ridiculous. I lose brain cells every time I watch that thing.
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s hilarious. I love it.
SPEAKER 17 :
But the go to the movies is pretty fun.

SPEAKER 16 :
Oh, people are going to judge me for this one. My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic, the movie. Oh.
SPEAKER 09 :

SPEAKER 09 :
I like brain rot. Go ahead, Corey.
SPEAKER 17 :
Tarzan. Best soundtrack.
SPEAKER 09 :
It was terrific. How about one of the greatest of all time, Finding Nemo?

Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 1 :
100%.
SPEAKER 09 :
That was great. Go. Aladdin.
SPEAKER 16 :
Aladdin.
SPEAKER 09 :
Aladdin. Aladdin. Now, that’s the greatest performance ever in a cartoon by Robin Williams. I mean, just wow.
SPEAKER 16 :
Rumor has it they kind of just threw him in a studio with a bunch of props for that beginning part. Really? And just let him go off on all these props.
SPEAKER 09 :
Breathtaking. Breathtaking how good he was. Corey, go.
SPEAKER 17 :

SPEAKER 17 :
Oh, excuses, excuses.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s what I got is excuses. I’m a man. Despicable me. We already did that. Okay, I’m out. We did it. We got them all in. Okay, Ashley, did you have fun today? I had a blast. Corey, did you have fun today?
SPEAKER 17 :
Of course I did.
SPEAKER 09 :
Are you going to dominate me tomorrow? Absolutely. All right, yeah. That’s it for today, folks. Hour number one replays next hour two at six. Hey, have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and until next time, drive safe, God bless, and thanks for joining us at Rush to Reason, KLZ 560.
SPEAKER 1 :
I’m a rich guy.
