John and Andy unpack the flood-the-zone strategy of Trump and Doge, explain why it’s working at the national level—and why mimicking it blindly in Colorado could burn the GOP to the ground. From Zuckerberg’s awakening to the Davites’ obsession with purging “RINOs,” this hour exposes the difference between smart leadership and self-sabotage.
SPEAKER 06 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 04 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 06 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 16 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did! Get a job, turd! You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 12 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 07 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind? It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Electric, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, we are back. Hour number two, Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Myself, Andy Pate, Charlie Grimes, and we appreciate you all listening at a great first hour. We’ve got a great second and third hour in store for you as well, as we always try to do.
SPEAKER 09 :
Hour one was so fun because we are watching what I keep calling the bulldozer. Yeah. It’s glorious.
SPEAKER 03 :
Somebody also texted in and said, you know, in addition to all that conversation we had with Bob, that, yes, one of the ways we also raised money during those times was the selling of land and things along those lines. At one point, you know, the feds owned the majority of land in the country and so on. And so a lot of that being sold off were ways for us to add money to the Treasury, which, by the way, I will say that I’ve said this many times. And I’m not sure this is on the table. I don’t know if Doge and them are looking at it. But frankly, that should happen once again.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s what I was about to ask you. Is there any way we could sell back a lot of land? Because right now the federal government owns way too much land.
SPEAKER 03 :
Between the state and the feds, about 40% of the country is still owned by government. Too much. That’s ridiculous. Too much. You have to maintain that, take care of it. There’s no taxes coming in off of that. It’s absolutely ludicrous that we… as a nation, have to own that much federally and or state. And I know a lot of folks say, well, yeah, but then that just gives all the billionaires an opportunity to come in and actually buy all that land. Well, you know, at least they’re maintaining it, taking care of it. And I’m all for making sure that this is all done with U.S. citizenry, that you cannot be an outsider buying this land. I’m all for having some laws passed along those lines, not allowing… the Chinese or whoever to come in and buy land up. But honestly, I don’t care who owns it at the end of the day. As long as it’s getting maintained, it’s getting taken care of, and they’re paying their fair share of taxes on it, I’m okay with that.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay, well, John, let me ask you this. Let’s go full leftist wacko here for a moment, all right? Mark Zuckerberg. Okay. Because he is. I know he is not going to be as leftist because of what Biden did to him.
SPEAKER 03 :
He’s moved a little bit more to the middle, kind of like Elon. He’s had some Elon moments.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I laugh when people say, you guys are trusting Zuckerberg. No, gosh, no, are you kidding me? Come on. But just for a moment, think about this. What if Mark Zuckerberg bought a large bunch of land that the federal government owned? Who would run it better? He.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yes. He would. Sorry. Is it even close? I don’t even like the guy, but he still would.
SPEAKER 09 :
And I don’t even like him.
SPEAKER 03 :
And by the way, it doesn’t mean that only leftists like him can buy the land. A lot of good people. No, but going back to your comment a moment ago about him, and again, I’m no fan, although I will tell you, and I used to be this way on this program. You can go back 10 years and listen to me. I was no fan of Elon Musk either. No, I used to talk all about Elon and the things that he did and some of the things that he did in regards to the subsidies he was getting for some of the businesses that he owned and so on. And I was as hard on him as anyone. So I wasn’t any different on him. But you know what? Through the course of time and the fact that his own party turned on him, by the way, which is happening over and over and over again. So you’ve got to start thinking, OK, wait a minute. If you guys were really smart, Zuckerberg included, you’d have a wake-up call and realize that these aren’t your friends. These are actually your enemies. We’re your friends. They’re not.
SPEAKER 09 :
You know, John, you have counseled a lot of businesses, right? And one of the things you really know is that in the internal workings of a business… where you just have down the hallways and this department dealing with that department and so forth, and you’re the boss. And this department really is insulting toward that department, and they do it repeatedly. That can bear huge consequences down the road. And now when you look at Zuckerberg internally, zuckerberg was helping the biden administration censor tons of information on facebook okay and so what did the biden administration do though they went overboard they said you’re not censoring enough turn it from an 8 out of 10 up to an 11 we want you to censor even more and they were swearing at his people over the phone yelling at them demanding that they did even more you know guys And I’d like to say this to the Colorado Republican Party because they are partnered with like Rhino Watch. When you unleash the hounds of wrath and rage like that on people who are really aligned with you, that comes back to haunt you, John. It comes back to haunt you. You’re going to cause problems. And the problem that Biden caused is now Mark Zuckerberg is not going to be the same mega donor to all the Democrats across the board like he was before.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, I think because when these guys get burned— Not to that degree. And this is true for a lot of individuals, Andy. Some are a little more hard-headed than others. But when you get burned once, what’s that old saying? You know, shame on me. Right. You know, burn—or shame on you, but burn twice, shame on me. Right. And I think in some cases, some of these individuals are looking at that thinking, hmm, you know what? I keep getting burned over and over and over again. In fact, when’s this burning going to stop? Well— When you finally stop it. Exactly. Like Elon did, by the way.
SPEAKER 09 :
Like Elon did. How many times have you seen in business people who are pushy and they won’t stop pushing on people? How damaging are they?
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, well, they’ll end up with no business.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. Biden had people who did that with Zuckerberg. Now look what happened. Zuckerberg gives a million to Trump’s library and he’s sitting down front while Trump is giving a speech. It’s like, no, no, he’s not a Trump ally. But guys, for crying out loud, he was all in. on helping you destroy this man.
SPEAKER 03 :
You want to know another guy that could easily, and granted, he’s a true blue Democrat. Will he ever have an R next to his name? Probably not, but could he have an I next to his name? Yeah, John Fetterman could easily be one of those as well, because look what they do to him.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, they’re infuriating him. They are infuriating him. It’s not working.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, it’s backfiring on them constantly.
SPEAKER 1 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
You know, basically they’re telling him, you should never meet with somebody like Donald Trump. And he’s thinking, wait a minute, is he not a president for all? And he affects all folks here in Pennsylvania, which I represent. So why would I not go and have a, and I’m paraphrasing, but why would I not go and have a sit-down meeting face-to-face with the guy that’s affecting all my constituents?
SPEAKER 09 :
Exactly. Why wouldn’t he? Yeah, duh. And he did. And it worked. Yeah, good for him. Yeah. You know, I mean, did Fetterman come out of that as a Republican?
SPEAKER 03 :
No, but at the end of it, he did say, you know, that wasn’t as bad as everybody said it was going to be.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, one real problem the Democrats have is Donald Trump is much better in person than he is on stage in terms of how he affects the left.
SPEAKER 03 :
Personality-wise and all of that. Right. Yes.
SPEAKER 09 :
They expect he’s going to be this bull in a china shop in private. And in private, he’s warm, gentle, easygoing.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s absolutely the opposite of what they see in public.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
We’ve heard that, Andy, you and I, from people that have known him and so on. And it’s absolutely the opposite of what people see on the front.
SPEAKER 09 :
Can I say one more thing about his strategy? This Doge strategy of this lightning fast, you know, hit this, hit this, hit this, hit this. Why is he doing it so fast? Well, first of all, because he wants to.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, you have to.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. Because he wants to do it while he has both sides of Congress.
SPEAKER 03 :
Really quick, too. Let me interject. You give too much time in that, half this crap is gone. Right. Andy, they will do everything possible to cover this stuff up. So you don’t have any choice but to go fast. Right.
SPEAKER 09 :
right also another these are crooks you’re dealing with another thing is he’s doing it and we in football we call it flooding the zone when you you shoot three or four receivers into one zone you overwhelm the defense they don’t know what to do or the defense floods the zone with three or four pass rushers coming from one side you can’t block them all what he’s doing is flooding the zone to where they cannot respond adequately to all these things and
SPEAKER 03 :
Nor do you want them to.
SPEAKER 09 :
Nor do you want them to. But let me put out another reason. And this is huge. By doing all this, by taking away so much spending at so many levels and getting rid of so many federal employees… Right. And departments. What he is doing is he’s going to make it so Americans have at least a full year to see what it’s like living without all this stuff before they vote in 26. And Americans are going to be shocked, John. They’re going to be shocked at just how little this affects virtually all of their lives.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 09 :
Which begs the question, why didn’t a Republican do this before?
SPEAKER 03 :
For PR, it’s great. That’s a great question. And I guess, you know, and we were talking a little bit about this at the top of the hour. I guess, Andy, in some cases, why didn’t they do it? Timing, the yearning to, the ability to, and frankly, having, and I didn’t mention this on air, but I will now, having a very high-cued audience. Our high IQed individual that understands business and money and where money goes and what it looks like and how to track it and trace it, having the team around you that even know all of those things. The reality, Andy, it’s not that we haven’t had those individuals in the past at our disposal, but we really haven’t had those individuals in the past at our disposal like you have with an Elon Musk right now. No, I agree. We really just haven’t had that, quote unquote, ability to do so in this manner.
SPEAKER 09 :
My only concern is this, John, and not as much with the Trump administration, but with the Trumpers all over the country. OK, this gets them thinking because they see this winning, winning, winning, winning, winning. And it’s working on PR. I’ve got some polls here that would just knock your socks off with where the Democrats and Republicans and Trump are currently. But they see that and they think fight, fight, fight in everything all the time. It’s always going to be a great idea. It’s always going to work great. OK, and they plow themselves into things like locally. Let’s opt out of the primary no matter what. Right. And they don’t look at any of the consequences and they think it’s OK. Trump does it. And if you won’t fight, fight.
SPEAKER 03 :
If you don’t stand for getting rid of this, you’re not a real Republican. Two different levels, Ian.
SPEAKER 09 :
No, but what I mean is I see them actually do it. I totally agree. It’s obviously two different levels. But what they do is they look at this success by the Trump blitzkrieg, and they believe use that strategy in everything. And it’s like, no, no, no, guys, you’re missing the point here. Trump is using that strategy where that strategy works.
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, he’s being smart, not just brave. Let’s continue on. That’s a great topic. Great segue into some of what happened even last week and weekend. And I think you’re onto something there because the reality is you can’t, and I’ll explain why as soon as we come back. Veteran Windows and Doors is up next. And I keep saying all the time, Dave’s always got great discounts. I don’t know exactly what those are for the month of February, but just call and ask. Dave’s always got a great deal. He’s there to help you. And literally, Dave will tell you, hey, go get other estimates on your windows and doors. And guess what? That doesn’t bother me a bit because I can hold my own when it comes to my estimates, quality, and how I do things. So contact Dave today. Find him at klzradio.com.
SPEAKER 17 :
Veteran Windows and Doors never uses gimmicky high-pressure salespeople. In fact, when you work with veterans, you get the owner, Dave Bancroft. Dave will never try to manipulate you or use silly tricks upselling you. Big window companies will show you a heat lamp test that is supposed to impress you. But what does that really tell you about your windows? Other companies omit the pertinent information. And just because the window or door says Provia, it does not mean their products are engineered for Colorado or even anywhere in the U.S. Dave prefers to be the last window and door company you meet with so he can give you all the information the others fail to reveal. Like the U-Factor, efficiency ratings, and even if it’s Energy Star certified. And of course, don’t forget the tax rebates many people didn’t know they could receive. Just talk to any of Veteran’s previous clients, and they will be the first to tell you. Get your high-quality windows and doors without all the gimmicks. Reach Veteran windows and doors by going to klzradio.com.

SPEAKER 17 :
Putting reason into your afternoon drive.
SPEAKER 09 :
This is John Rush. And welcome back to Rush Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Okay, John, let me sum it up like this. A lot of Trumpers, and I’m a Trumper, you’re a Trumper, but what I mean is there are a lot of the Trumpers who believe that because Trump is succeeding so much being a hammer, that therefore everything is a nail. And so just bang away at everything, no matter what. Don’t worry about consequences. Everything is just like the border. Hammer, hammer, hammer. Everything is just like going after the deep state. Hammer, hammer, hammer. And… It really is. It’s not good. OK, let me give a quick example. Kerry Lake. Kerry Lake’s biggest issue was easily election integrity. Now, do I care about election? Yes, I do. Very much. But is that something that sells anywhere near as well as shutting down the border and clearing up the deep state? Is it?
SPEAKER 03 :
No.
SPEAKER 09 :
No, not at all. In fact, Carrie Lake was one of the worst choices nationally for a candidate. In the year when Trump won Arizona rather handily, she lost it for us.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, sad thing is, is had she, I’ll use this example, Andy, had she done what Trump did, where she had kind of an about face on some of the things that she was constantly driving the nail, like you were just saying, if she would have just changed a little bit like Trump did, she might have been elected. She might have been elected. But she wouldn’t.
SPEAKER 09 :
How much has Trump, you know, he’ll make a mention now and then, especially if he’s asked about it, but that’s it. How much has Trump mentioned election integrity versus how much he’s mentioned going after the deep state with Doge and the border?
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s not even close. Hundreds to one. It’s not even close.
SPEAKER 09 :
Hundreds to one. It’s not even close. What are the two biggest issues for the Colorado Republican Party? Election integrity and opting out of the primary.
SPEAKER 03 :
You mean for those two? You mean for them? Yes. What are their two biggest? Theirs. Not ours, but theirs.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean all Colorado Republicans.
SPEAKER 03 :
Just them.
SPEAKER 09 :
I’m talking about the leadership of the Colorado Republican Party. Their number one and number two issues are election integrity, which, by the way, once again, I care about, but you’ve got to be careful how you handle that, okay? Election integrity and opting out of the primary. I’m going to disagree. And they hit those with a hammer.
SPEAKER 03 :
I’m going to disagree.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, go ahead.
SPEAKER 03 :
I think there’s three, and I think election integrity is third because I think the first one is everybody’s a rhino. Get rid of them.
SPEAKER 09 :
They’ve even hired somebody. So you would say in the top two would be the purge.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. I agree. Yeah, that’s their first. That’s fair. Their number one thing is we’ve even hired an attorney that’s going to get rid of these individuals.
SPEAKER 09 :
They equate. And by the way, you bring up a great point, John, because they equate. any republicans who disagree with them not even in principle but just on strategy if a republican says and by the way here here in a minute i’m going to go through some of the consequences once again of opting out of the open primaries but first they won’t even listen they won’t even entertain that discussion and they believe anyone who will not opt out of the primaries rhino watch said this is a rhino that’s your witness test needs to be purged so
SPEAKER 03 :
So that is number one for them, Andy.
SPEAKER 09 :
They look at how Elon and Donald are purging the deep state. They literally believe that has to be done to any Republicans in Colorado who do not agree with them.
SPEAKER 03 :
Here’s the difference for all of you listening that are on that side and in that camp, because I know you listen. I know you listen because I see some of the comments that you make online and things that you do in some of your podcasts and things like that. And you can tell they heard us. So I know you’re listening. So here’s, by the way, where you’re wrong and why it’s not the same as what Donald Trump is doing. You haven’t won yet. That’s the biggest difference. You don’t have a Republican governor. You don’t have a Republican Senate. You don’t have a Republican House. You haven’t won yet, meaning you don’t have that right to do the things that Donald Trump is doing right now. You haven’t earned it yet. You’ve got to win first, govern second. Correct. You haven’t earned it, folks. Yeah. So until you earn that, you don’t get that right, period. Now, here’s what I would say. If you’ve earned that, you’ve accomplished the governorship, you’ve got a Republican there, you’ve got our Golden Dome down here in downtown Denver, you’ve got that now handled, you’ve got the majority of people in Colorado voting in that particular direction because you’ve swung things back around. If that’s what you’ve done and you’ve accomplished that and you now want to purge those dissenters that you call dissenters, by the way, out of the party… Have fun.
SPEAKER 09 :
And you can purge them while still winning.
SPEAKER 03 :
But really quick, here’s the reality, though. Here’s the reality. You won’t need to do any of that because if you start winning and you have that strategy to where you’re bringing everybody in on the same page and you’ve got everybody working for the collective moving forward, guess what? No purge is needed. Unlike what Donald Trump is working on. Keep in mind, what Donald Trump is working on, which is way different than what’s going on in the state of Colorado, is he’s purging not just the deep state, but old Democrats that, by the way, don’t like the checkbook register being verified by Elon. and so on and so forth. It’s apples to oranges, Colorado versus D.C.
SPEAKER 09 :
He’s purging woke leaders out of the military, folks. It’s totally different from what you’re talking about.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’s not the same here, folks.
SPEAKER 09 :
And here’s the thing. What they’re doing at the state level or with Rhino Watch, got to keep in mind, Rhino Watch is the state party.
SPEAKER 03 :
They are their voice. It’s the militant arm of the state party.
SPEAKER 09 :
They are the militant online arm of the state party. Here’s what they do. They equate anybody who disagrees with them a little with Liz Cheney. Correct. You are Liz Cheney if your name is Heidi Ganahl. Right. Now, is Heidi Ganahl politically in the same place as Liz Cheney?
SPEAKER 03 :
By the way, as of last week, Lauren Boebert.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, Lauren Boebert is now. She’s now in that list. Lauren Boebert is now Liz Cheney. Right. Heidi Ganahl is now Liz Cheney. Anybody who disagrees with them in any way, shape, or form is Liz Cheney. Right. Why? Because they are a hammer and everything is a nail.
SPEAKER 03 :
And they’re wrong. They’re dead wrong.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, they’re dead wrong.
SPEAKER 03 :
They’re dead wrong. They’re not going to win until they start changing that strategy around. I’ll keep saying it. I don’t know what else I can do. That’s my part and what I can do to try to help defeat these knuckleheads that are in charge. And literally, they are absolute knuckleheads. They’re morons. They have no idea what’s going on. I’ll say it. I’m going to keep saying it over and over again. These are very low IQ individuals that don’t understand how to win.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. Now, really quick.
SPEAKER 03 :
And by the way, you can repeat me on that, Ryan. I’ll watch if you’d like. In fact, you can put me on the wall of shame if you’d like. In fact, I’d enjoy that if you did.
SPEAKER 09 :
We have been campaigning for so long to get on that wall.
SPEAKER 03 :
I don’t know why.
SPEAKER 09 :
I don’t know why I can’t get on that wall.
SPEAKER 03 :
Because you knuckleheads have no idea what you’re doing. Absolute zero strategy. You have no clue what’s going on. Right. Period.
SPEAKER 09 :
It just blows my mind. Okay, really quick before we go to break, because after break I want to talk about the open primaries once again and walk through the reasons we can’t opt out, even though my heart would love to opt out of the open primaries. I voted against open primaries. I prefer closed primaries. Yeah, so did I. Okay, but here’s what… You know, and I don’t want to talk a lot about the, you know, Saturday and the election. You know, I lost, as you know, because we talked off air, I expected to lose that election. And I also didn’t want the job. I didn’t lose anything personally. I don’t care personally about not being the chair. Okay. Doesn’t worry me at all. I was shocked it was that close.
SPEAKER 03 :
The Arapahoe County chair.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
Exactly.
SPEAKER 09 :
I was really shocked by that. But. Here is what depressed me the most, and it absolutely stunned me. I didn’t know. I had not been to one of these meetings in six years. The changeover in the party because of the Davites, the cult, that has been putting people out there in counties all across the state. When it came time to vote on bonus members, and everybody had their 20, 30 seconds to talk, You would not believe the big majority had one issue as their number one issue. Now, the second issue was election integrity. The first issue was closing the primary. Not one of them defended against the consequences of doing that. Not one of them looked into what happens if we actually do it. What does it actually take? We’re going to look at that after the break. Because, Andy, they have no strategy. None of them, absolutely none of them could defend it. But all of them wanted it. And, John, these are the people who are running our party.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. Right. Well, running is a loose term.
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s a loose turn.
SPEAKER 03 :
Ruining the party is more like it, Andy.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah. Look, I’m just going to say it, and I’ll explain why after the break. If we opt out of the primary, we are going to burn down the party. Okay?
SPEAKER 03 :
Andy, if Dave and his Dave-ites get elected one more time, you’ve burned down the party.
SPEAKER 09 :
And I, yes, we will. And I say that as somebody who likes close primaries and thinks only Republicans should choose Republican candidates. I believe that in principle. But after the break, we’re going to talk why everything is not a nail.
SPEAKER 03 :
No, and again, I keep hammering it, but the reality, folks, is Colorado is near and dear to me. It’s my native state. It is for a lot of you that are listening as well. I do believe we have the ability to capture some of it back. Can we capture all of it back? You never want to say never. You never say never. Could we potentially swing things around enough to get things back on our side? I believe that there are still enough good people in Colorado that – If you approached it correctly and gave them the reasons why, much like Trump winning this last election, if you give people enough reasons as to why they should go one direction versus the other, yes, I believe they will. But you can’t bully pulpit them into doing it.
SPEAKER 09 :
No, you can’t. And if they do that, they’re going to squander the incredible opportunity that Trump is bringing us right now with all these PR wins.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, we’ll be right back. Affordable interest mortgages next. Kurt Rogers, and for those of you that are self-employed especially, give Kurt a call. He’d love to help you with your mortgage needs. He understands it better than, really, any other broker in that world, and I mean that sincerely. 720-895-0500.
SPEAKER 11 :

SPEAKER 07 :
Back to Rush to Reason, presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Electric, where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, we are back. Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Thanks for tuning in today. We appreciate it very much. And, Andy, let’s go through. And I know we’ve done this a lot in the past, but for those of you maybe that have tuned in for the first time and or just give you a quick recap. And, yes, Andy and I both, you know, all of us, all of KLZ, by the way. I don’t think there’s anybody in this building that would be for open primaries. But, but, but we all understand that it is what it is. And I have always said, and this is where I want to add this before Andy gets into the points, but I’ve always said that, and maybe it’s because of my business background or just what I’ve had to do over the years being self-employed, you don’t always have the ability to control the things that are in front of you.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right.
SPEAKER 03 :
I.e. open primaries. But what you can do is make the best of them and use them to your advantage when they come your way. And that’s how I view open primaries.
SPEAKER 09 :
You view it as a businessman, and the current leadership does not.
SPEAKER 03 :
I actually view it as, and I’m sorry.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s your market. Your market wants them, and you work with the market.
SPEAKER 03 :
And I will, this is where I will argue with a lot of individuals out there. I look at them as an opportunity to gain more people to our side, where the others would look at it as a get off my lawn, I don’t want you around.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. Ironically, the open primary has, in this last time around, was probably the best advertising for the Republican Party. It got the most independents to look into our candidates. Okay, but… I rest my case. Three quick things. Number one, let’s define it. For those who don’t know, the open primary in Colorado means that independents can vote in one of, not both, but in either the Republican or the Democrat primary.
SPEAKER 03 :
Correct. They get to choose. Unaffiliated. They get both primary ballots. They can only vote one of the two.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s how it works.
SPEAKER 09 :
Just want to let people know. As a result, most of the voters in the Republican primaries are unaffiliated voters. Right. Okay. Now, the Davites, I guess we would call them, you know, the Davidians. Good one. The Davidians. The branch Davidians. Yeah, yeah, but that comes from Charlie.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, Charlie’s the one that came up with that one.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, the Davidians, they say they blame open primaries for the downfall of the Republican Party. In Colorado. They say, look at how our registration tanked as a result. Okay. Number one, that’s incorrect. The downfall of the Republican Party trended along the exact line of all the influx of blue state voters over the last two decades. And some of what was happening nationally as well.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right.
SPEAKER 09 :
And some of what was happening nationally. Case in point, 2018 was one of the biggest blue waves along with 2008 in a whole generation. Correct. Okay. So first of all, no, it did not cause it. OK, secondly, they don’t seem to understand that even if you had closed primaries, Democrats or people who wanted to infiltrate our primary could simply register Republican vote in our primary and then and then leave. OK, they don’t seem to understand even with a closed primary, they can do that. And finally, they don’t seem to understand that the the open primary itself. has, okay, here’s what I mean. They feel that all these people coming in are going to vote for those bad, moderate candidates. Totally untrue. The people who are going to come into our primary, if they want to hurt us, are going to vote for the Ron Hanks ones. How do we know that for sure?
SPEAKER 03 :
Because it happened.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, yeah, I’m not just alleging this. We know that because of how Democrats have spent their money. Always follow the money. Every time the Democrats spend money on our primaries, who do they help? Those people. The Ron Hanks people. That’s right. So that proves that the ones who would intrude upon our primary to hurt us are going to vote for the very candidates that are basically the whole list of the endorsements from the Colorado Republican Party. Yep. They’re people. So, folks, if you think that the people infiltrating are coming in and helping all the moderates to squash your candidates, on the contrary, if they want to infiltrate, they’re helping your candidates. Yep. Okay? The ones who are helping the moderates are the ones who are actually interested in the Republican Party, and they just happen to be right-leaning independents. Correct. Okay. Now… Those are the myths about the open primary. It is not the cause of all our ills at all. Now, let’s get to really quick. What happens if we do opt out of the open primaries? People think, oh, we’ll just have a closed primary. It’ll be great. Okay, here are the problems. Number one. If we opt out of the open primary, we will be telling half the state’s voters, what, John? Get off my lawn. Get off my lawn. Go away. While the Democrats are saying welcome. Come on over. These are the easiest 30-second ads that have ever been made in political history. All the Democrats have to do is put out ads and say, this is their message to you. Get off my lawn. Here’s our message to you. Welcome. We want you in our primary.
SPEAKER 03 :
We’re throwing the welcome ad out for you.
SPEAKER 09 :
We want you in our primary… Just come across the street.
SPEAKER 03 :
We’ll welcome you.
SPEAKER 09 :
They’re blaming you for their failures.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s right. Exactly.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay. Number two. If we opt out of the primary, those primary ballots will still go out to all the unaffiliated voters, but they will all, and that’s millions.
SPEAKER 03 :
It’ll all be Democrats.
SPEAKER 09 :
It’ll be only Democrat names going to all the unaffiliated voters.
SPEAKER 03 :
This means your tax… Meaning all those candidates get more face time with those individuals.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right. Your candidates, I mean, I’m sorry, your tax dollars, Republican, are paying for free advertising for the Democrat Party. Correct. Number three… The primary is the number one way that arouses independent interest in a party. We will now be pulling ourselves completely out of that game and only giving independents a reason to look at Democrats for the entire primary season.
SPEAKER 1 :
Yep.
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s not just the ballot. It’s the whole primary season.
SPEAKER 03 :
We’re off the board. Go ahead. One other thing I want to add into this, too, as well, which is going to ruffle some feathers. I really don’t care because I’m at a point where I don’t care anymore. Right. I don’t care what these people think of me. Not that I ever have, but I’ve been pretty restrictive in some of the things that I’ve mentioned on air just because I didn’t want to be that guy anymore. Anymore Andy, after reading all of them online and how rude and crude and And just downright mean they all are, I really don’t care. So I’m going to say a few things. Go ahead. So on top of everything Andy just said, the other problem with not having an open primary any longer is you’re going to end up with a bunch of wackadoodle candidates that can’t get elected. And how do I know that? So bear with me here for a moment.
SPEAKER 09 :
You’re right, by the way.
SPEAKER 03 :
Going back in time, because I’ve also said that a lot of the people that are running the party right now are the same people that tried to oust Steve House in a coup over a decade ago. And I was involved with some of that back at that time. Some of you may remember that. Some of you may not. It may have been too long ago to even know. But regardless, a lot of the people that are in charge of the party today are the same ones that, ironically enough— ran a coup against Steve House back in the day and wanted him to be gone and accused him of all sorts of things that never turned out to be true. In a lot of ways, you know, damaged his reputation and so on. He and I, as you guys all know, are still great friends. We were all the way through that time. Anyways, long story short, this is the same individuals that are pretty much in charge of the party today. On top of that, let me go one step further. As I read through a lot of the comments on social media and hear from different people and so on, I’ve interviewed a lot of these people over the years. These are people that, by the way, at one time or another, ran for an office.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 03 :
And in some cases, ran for an office more than once. And I would interview them and I would have them on and do everything I possibly could to try to bump them up and help them get elected because they were our Republican candidate. Now, I will say this. I’ve never said this on air before. I’m going to say this. These are the same individuals that while they were leaving, I’m thinking to myself, you don’t have a snowball’s chance of winning that election. Right. You are not smart enough to win that election. You can’t even answer my questions that I’m asking you. Nonetheless, going out on the campaign trail and actually answering questions. So these are the very same people. that I literally tried to help get elected that didn’t have a snowball’s chance of because of what I just said a moment ago, that are now the Davites that are in charge of the party, meaning that if they get us out of the open primaries and they stick to the closed system that they so desperately want right now, we’re screwed. We’re done.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, because not only will they incur all the consequences I just listed, they’re going to put forth worse candidates.
SPEAKER 03 :
They’re going to put forth the most loony-tuned candidates you could ever imagine.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, and if you want proof of that, the Davidians, they endorsed 18 candidates in contested races, 14 lost big, and the three biggest were in the House races for the U.S. House, let’s not forget.
SPEAKER 03 :
Had they gotten their way… We wouldn’t be where we’re at today as far as the House goes in D.C. right now.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right now, if we had not had the primary in Colorado in 2024, Donald Trump right now would have a Democrat House. And for those thinking, oh, you’re just saying that we don’t think so. Guys, I could run through the numbers. I won’t do it. We don’t have time. But we’ve done it before already. But in CD3 and CD8, I have done it on air. It’s an absolute guarantee we would have lost those. And there’s a good chance we would have lost CD5 had the Davidians gotten their way. We would not have the House right now for Donald Trump. The open primary saved us from their bad decisions.
SPEAKER 03 :
I can tell you right now, you wouldn’t have won CD5 because that’s the one Dave Williams was running in. And you would have had enough Republicans even come out and say, that guy is an absolute creep crook. I don’t like him. I’m not voting for him.
SPEAKER 09 :
How many independents would have voted for a guy who told Republicans to burn other people’s property?
SPEAKER 03 :
He wouldn’t have won, Andy. Wouldn’t have happened. Wouldn’t have happened. He wouldn’t have won.
SPEAKER 09 :
And he would have had the best chance of the three, okay?
SPEAKER 03 :
And it wouldn’t have happened. Sorry, folks. You guys can all run around out there on social media and say that I’m wrong and I don’t know what I’m talking about, and yes, he would have won. You’re a Looney Tune. You have no way. At all of factually backing that up. And I actually can back up what I’m saying. I can prove it.
SPEAKER 09 :
They say that because the candidate we had, Jeff Crank, who, by the way, was an awesome candidate, he won by 14. So they figure, well, anybody will win there. No, Jeff Crank didn’t tell Republicans to burn other people’s property. Look, once again, it’s real simple.
SPEAKER 03 :
In other words, he didn’t chase people away.
SPEAKER 09 :
No, he didn’t. Once again, it’s real simple, folks. And all these people who went up there as bonus members, who were over and over and over, and this is why I came. I didn’t come out of this depressed because I lost. I expected that. I came out depressed after listening to the bonus members. And it’s not that I hate these people. I love these people. They have been… They’ve been bamboozled. That’s your favorite word. They have been bamboozled. They bought into this.
SPEAKER 03 :
They’ve been brainwashed.
SPEAKER 09 :
None of them could listen to what you and I just said and defend themselves against any of it. The bottom line is, if you opt out of that primary, your taxes are going to pay for free advertising for the other party. There’s going to be about a six- to eight-week period, the primaries, where all the unaffiliateds are only involved with the other party. Yep. You’re going to get rid of the system that saved the house for Trump, and you’re going to tell half the state’s voters, get the hell off our lawn.
SPEAKER 03 :
One more segment left, folks. So here’s what I’m going to do. Those of you that are on that side that want to defend that, think you can come on air and do so. Lines are open, 303-477-5600. SPEAKER 06 :
Listen online. KLZRadio.com. Back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 09 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. John Rush together with Andy Pate. Nobody called. No. And they are listening.
SPEAKER 03 :
I guarantee you they are listening. I knew they wouldn’t. And they’re not calling because, and I’m not trying to be mean or rude, but these are very, unfortunately, as you said earlier, great people in a lot of cases. Not all. They are, for the most part. Some of them are scumbags, but some are really great people. Yeah. And they’re being misled by the scumbags.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, when I listened to all, and I got, I already knew I was going to lose. I conceded to the guy two hours before it was called, okay, because I knew. And then it came in way closer, but whatever. Look, my depression came from listening to those speeches. And I loved these people. I didn’t sit there. I wasn’t burning with anger against them. Oh, gosh, you’re so wrong about the open primary. I knew, John. Look, I grew up in a leftist family that was in academia. I knew what indoctrination does. And all you got to do is make sure that these people, your followers, never hear the other side.
SPEAKER 03 :
Ever. I was raised the opposite of you, but so far on the right that it wasn’t much different. It wasn’t much different. It’s pretty much the same, only just all the way to the right. Right.
SPEAKER 09 :
And so I was listening to these mostly just wonderful people, John. Wonderful people, but one after the other about how we have to have a closed primary. Got to close primary. Got to opt out of the primary. Got to do this. And I’m listening to them, and I’m just like… God love you. I love you, man, but you have no idea what you’re going to bring us.
SPEAKER 03 :
And unfortunately, Andy, as you know, that’s just because they’ve been so misled.
SPEAKER 09 :
None of them could come on your defense.
SPEAKER 03 :
So brainwashed, if you would. And so they’ve been trained that that’s what they need to do. I mean, these are the soldiers, and we need them, and I get it. And those of you that are in that… world, I appreciate you, I appreciate all you do, the door knocking and so on. Unfortunately, you’ve been extremely, extremely misled by what they call themselves leaders. They’re not, by the way. The majority of them, in fact, I will say this. There’s not a single person in charge at the Colorado GOP right now that’s a true leader. Because they don’t even understand the basics of leadership. And if you don’t believe me, go read John Maxwell’s 21 Laws of Leadership and tell me how many of them understand that book and the 21 principles that are in there. And I will tell you that none of them do. None of them do. Because if they did, they wouldn’t be doing what they’re doing right now.
SPEAKER 09 :
You know, what really gets me, John, is that a lot of them, when they talk about what they want to do to get out of the primary or to attack, you know, to do the purge, the purge of everybody who disagrees with them, it all ends justify the means. It doesn’t, though. Because I’ll say to them, yeah, but this is not true. You’re lying here. This is a power play. You shouldn’t do these things. And they’re like, whatever it takes.
SPEAKER 03 :
Dan, what’s up, sir? It’s warm where you are.
SPEAKER 18 :
It’s warm. The snow is kind of melting, but I got a lot of ice.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay. All right.
SPEAKER 18 :
Hey, you guys are talking DEI, okay? And what that is is that’s division, exclusion, indoctrination.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, you’re right. You’re correct, Dan. You’re right. You’re correct. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 18 :
I just tuned in, but I’m assuming you’re talking about what they’re trying to do with the Republican Party in the state of Colorado.
SPEAKER 03 :
In Colorado, yeah, and you’re right, Dan. And as I said a moment ago, and Andy did as well, you know, the individual soldiers that are out there that are you working for the party doing the best they can and so on any and nothing against them love them dearly they’re just very misguided to your point a moment ago that they’re just extremely brainwashed and unfortunately haven’t had any solid leadership teaching them how things really should work yet and i’ve talked to people that were registered republicans and if if you said the people who are listening you guys need to take a note of this i have talked to i don’t countless people
SPEAKER 18 :
that have left the Republican Party because of what is happening right now, and they are now independents. So whatever they’re doing, they’re going to have more people that are going to leave the Colorado GOP because of the shenanigans that are going on and the infighting that’s going on. So if they are listening, you guys are, what does it say in Proverbs? They dig a pit and they fall into it themselves.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. Yeah. And along those lines, Dan, and this is something I continually watch because they’ll run around right now and tout how the registered Republican voters through this last election came up, which, by the way, yes, because nationally they did. So there were more registered Republican voters because of that. The real test, Dan, is going to be over the next six months. Do they retain them or do some of those people go back to independence? In other words, did they just register that last time around because of what happened with Donald Trump in that particular election? And given everything you’ve just said, will they go back to being an independent afterwards?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, and also we have to keep in mind, they only got a little bump. It’s a teeny bump. Nationally, Republican registration soared over the last two years.
SPEAKER 03 :
Correct. Correct.
SPEAKER 09 :
We’re way behind the wave.
SPEAKER 03 :
Correct, absolutely. But my point is, really quick, Dan, and you’re a numbers guy, I want to look at the Secretary of State’s report month after month and see if it continues to retain or does it drop back off. Because my prediction, Dan, is to what you’re saying exactly, it’s going to dip off.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, so the problem is they’re happy that there was a little uptick, but the problem is why don’t we have – It would be nice to know the demographics of the Republican GOP in Colorado. What are the young people? What are the Generation Z? Break it down.
SPEAKER 03 :
And by the way, Dan, the party has that info. You and I will never see that, but the party has that info.
SPEAKER 18 :
Because they don’t want to share it.
SPEAKER 03 :
Correct. Correct. You’re right. 100%, Dan. 100%. I’ll let you go. Appreciate you very much, Dan. We’ll go to break, come back with just a few seconds left is all. Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning is up next. Again, second opinions, they’re big on that. If you’ve got a question when it comes to something that’s going on, you’ve already had a person come out, look at it, a tech come out, look at it, but you’re not sure if that’s exactly right, call Cub Creek instead. klzradio.com is where you find them.

SPEAKER 06 :
This isn’t Rage Radio. This is Real Relatable Radio. Back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 03 :
All right, Jeff, I got a minute. Go for it, sir.
SPEAKER 19 :
Hey, how you doing?
SPEAKER 03 :
Good, sir.
SPEAKER 19 :
I just thought I’d let you know I actually went to my first, I went to the Jeffco Town Hall in Evergreen.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 19 :
Last week, and I brought up, I’m trying to figure out how much that bike path is costing. Yeah. And so I wanted to know how much fire mitigation, what their budget for fire mitigation is here compared to this bike path budget.
SPEAKER 03 :
Beautiful.
SPEAKER 19 :
Boy, that was a question they did not want to hear. I’m guessing so, yeah. Still can’t find out how much it is. I did some research. I saw somewhere it’s getting, I don’t know, 270 million. The guy, I even got to him, one of our commissioners, there’s three commissioners. Got to his face-to-face, and he still couldn’t tell me. I was like, it’s unreal.
SPEAKER 09 :
