In this episode of Rush to Reason, fill-in host Andy Pate dives into a compelling discussion about the events of January 6th compared to historical atrocities. Joined by guests and caller John from Cheyenne, the conversation explores the narrative tools used by political factions to bolster their arguments. Through candid commentary, the episode critiques the hyperbolic comparisons often made in media and politics. This episode also addresses recent legal challenges facing former President Trump. Legal pundit Jonathan Turley’s insights into the New York court’s proceedings provide a critical look at the implications of Trump’s looming appeals. The hosts argue
SPEAKER 04 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 03 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes. With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 11 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did. Get a job first. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same, and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 12 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 04 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind? It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Electric. Where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 06 :
Actually, it’s Andy Pate. Party of choice. And welcome to our number two here on Rush Reason. I am Andy Pate filling in for John Rush for one more day. John will be back tomorrow. Reason is returning to Colorado tomorrow. Finally. Boy, it needs it. Took long enough. We’ve had no reason for two weeks. It’s too long. I’ve been driving totally erratically. I haven’t followed any speed lights, you know, the lights or speed limits or anything. You scare me. I know, I do. Okay, Luke. I’m Luke. I think it’s about time. Yes, Luke Cash. Man. I think it’s about time we hear from someone who demonstrates true brilliance. And that, of course, is Sunny Houston of The View. And we need to hear what she has to say about politics because she’s always just so spot on. What do you think?
SPEAKER 09 :
Sure. Let’s hear it.
SPEAKER 06 :
She’s talking about January 6th. And really quick, let me set this up. Because right now the Democrats are making a huge deal. And John and I predicted this. The Democrats would make a huge deal out of a smooth transition of power.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, we’re nothing like what happened on January 6th. And as you know, I oppose what happened on January 6th. Rushing the Capitol, that kind of stuff. Not a good look. False. It’s a crime. It’s totally wrong. Nobody should have done that. But let’s see what the left compares it to. Here we go.
SPEAKER 11 :
I believe on this very show saying, you know, we need to move on from January 6th. I say, no, you don’t move on because January 6th was an atrocity. It was one of the worst moments in American history. And when you think about the worst moments in American history, you know, like World War II, things that happened, you know, like the Holocaust, chattel slavery. Holocaust, famously American history.
SPEAKER 06 :
A few people rushing into the Capitol and taking selfies, all unarmed.
SPEAKER 09 :
Basically 9-11.
SPEAKER 06 :
Killing no one. Yeah. Tell me, how many Jews on January 6th were sent into the gas chambers?
SPEAKER 09 :
Twice as many as Pearl Harbor.
SPEAKER 06 :
Probably twice as many as Pearl Harbor. You know, Pearl Harbor, how many people were bombed to death on January 6th?
SPEAKER 09 :
twice as many as 9-11. I don’t know.
SPEAKER 06 :
I mean, this is incredible. She’s literally calling January 6th an atrocity compared to those things. First of all, January 6th was not an atrocity. It was a stupid thing done by a few people. I’m being honest. A wrong thing, I think they should be prosecuted for it. You assault a cop, you don’t have my sympathy, okay? But we have to keep in mind, first of all, they were unarmed. Who does an unarmed insurrection?
SPEAKER 09 :
People bad at insurrections.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, really bad at insurrections. And number two, Donald Trump requested… 10,000 troops to secure the area. Who requests 10,000 troops to secure the area against his own attack?
SPEAKER 09 :
People bad at insurrections.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, really bad at insurrections.
SPEAKER 09 :
Rookie move, really, if you think about it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, very much a rookie move. And let’s also keep in mind, only one person was shot and killed on January 6th, and that was an unarmed… Trump supporter. Now, by the way, I thought she was in the wrong for what she was doing at the time, right? She was trying to barge in and so forth. But did she present a mortal threat? Did the cop have to execute her?
SPEAKER 09 :
No, I don’t think so.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, no, the cop did not have to execute this woman. And these are the things that happen. I look at this and I think it is pretty crazy to try to compare what happened on January 6th to these atrocities. Let’s let her finish.
SPEAKER 11 :
We need to never forget because past becomes prologue if you forget any race. I want to ask you.
SPEAKER 06 :
OK, she’s insane. Can we just agree? Sonny Holston’s insane.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Never forget. Never forget is what we say about 9-11. Yeah. Never forget is what everybody says about 9-11. Didn’t some people die on 9-11? I’m pretty sure.
SPEAKER 09 :
Help me out here. Yeah, like one or two maybe.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
Or more.
SPEAKER 06 :
Almost 3,000. Now that’s an atrocity, folks.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
What happened on January 6th, and I’m going to get into some of the reasons it happened here in a moment, but what happened on January 6th was nothing like those incidents. And also, by the way, it was also nothing like what BLM has been doing in cities across the country, burning down businesses, killing people. Folks, none of that happened. It just looks to me like the left finally has one incident where the right gets out of line, and they did. And they play it up to the hill.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Makes no sense. On the line right now is John from Cheyenne. John, how are you, sir?
SPEAKER 07 :
Hey, Sonny Hostin, that line she just said goes right up there with Belushi from Animal House. Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
SPEAKER 06 :
I wonder if she was consulted in writing that film. I know she was very young at the time, very young. But yeah, the logic, John, the logic eludes me. Go ahead. Here’s the thing.
SPEAKER 07 :
She’s not dumb because to pass the bar exam, you have to have some kind of a brain. She’s just so been brainwashed by the left that every all of her common sense just left. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah. And I think also and this can happen on the right as well. She’s in an echo chamber. And when you’re in a complete echo chamber and your views are never challenged, this is why I kind of like going online a lot because I like having my views challenged. When your views are never challenged, you can get to where you’ll say really stupid, shallow things that make no sense. And the real problem there, John, when you do something like what Sonny Hostin did, is that you are really deeply insulting Jewish people. I mean, my goodness, how about people of color? How about the slaves? Slavery. How many people were whipped and beaten and lynched on January 6th, John? Count them up for me.
SPEAKER 07 :
One got killed. Yeah, one got killed. And that was one protester.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, one unarmed protester got executed by a cop. Okay? I mean, and here you, when you, John, it just seems to me that when you compare January 6th, people going in and doing selfies, and, you know, some assaulted cops, and I want those people in jail. They deserve it. Maybe not this long, but they deserve it. But you compare that to what happened with the Jews, to what happened to black people here in America during slavery. Aren’t you really insulted? Aren’t you demeaning the pain of those groups?
SPEAKER 07 :
Of course you are, but they don’t look at it that way. They want to lump every bad thing together. But one other thing, Andy, you and… we’re talking about right before the end of the show about Trump’s conviction or let Friday go into court, um, was listening to, um, Jonathan Turley yesterday. Yeah. And he was saying in order for the court of appeals in New York to hear the Trump case, they want it completely done. And that could be why they haven’t ruled yet. Cause he hasn’t had his final day with the current judge. So what this legal guy was saying is that if that happens on Friday and they convict him, then it goes to the court of appeals and the appeal is already in. They could throw out the whole thing in a week.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, it’s possible. I don’t know if they will, John. It depends on the court, right? But Turley is right. And by the way, I love Jonathan Turley. He has been absolutely incensed about this entire thing. He thinks this was a complete railroading in the courts against Trump. But I also, John, worry about the timing here because it’s not giving Trump much time to respond. Trump takes office on the 20th. And once he takes office, look, at that point, everything is frozen. You can’t take any real legal action on this, can you? So he’s got to appeal right away and just hope. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, according to what I read in the Post, New York Post, I’m sorry, his appeal was already filed, but they won’t finish and rule on it, the New York State Court of Appeals, until after the case is completely done. Right. It’s already filed, so he’s already filed his appeal. It’s just they’ve got to finish so then they can either have an appeal hearing or render their decision and look at the evidence or whatever.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right, but what I mean is this. They’re only giving him 9, 10 days to do that because the case won’t be finally completed until this Friday, and that’s only 9, 10 days from when he takes office.
SPEAKER 07 :
But here’s the other thing. So you’re saying that once he takes office— The New York State of Appeals can’t look at it or rule on it or anything?
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, I don’t want to say that for sure because I don’t know. I don’t know. I just know that when you have a sitting president, you’re not supposed to bring these kind of legal actions. I know they’re doing it beforehand. I’m not sure how that’s going to fall, John. I’m really not.
SPEAKER 07 :
We’re in uncharted waters, to quote. Because it’s never happened before. But, Andy, good hearing you. It would be nice to have John back the rest of the week. We need reason. Also, there’s not been a lot of stuff on. When you guys aren’t on, there’s not a lot to listen to. We’ll just go with that.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, I miss him, too, John. He’ll be back tomorrow.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, by the way, I got one other thing real quick. I’m going to call you out. You and Richard were talking up Shador Sanders like he’s the next Tom Brady. And did you see that bowl game that he played in where he just got –
SPEAKER 06 :
No, no, no, no. John, you’ve got to admit, BYU was simply physically superior all over the field. That was brutal. They were flying all over the field. They were much more physical. Shadoura’s whole offensive line was collapsing. I don’t know who would have looked good there.
SPEAKER 07 :
I’ll just go with my thought. I think he’s RG3. But we’ll see.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, it’s possible. Really quick here, before you go, what pick do you guys have? I know the Titans got the top pick.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, you’re number two. I think we got two. I think we got two. It’s either two or three. And they did it. Here’s the thing that surprised me and I kind of like, is they didn’t fire Brian Dable.
SPEAKER 1 :
Oh.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, well, that’s nice. Not overreacting to him.
SPEAKER 07 :
I don’t. Right, because I think the mistake was giving Daniel Jones all that money because he was just not a quarterback. Yeah, I agree. I don’t know. They got the kid that used to play in Denver, Drew Locke. Did Gable turn him into an NFL quarterback? No, I think he drafted somebody. Do you draft one? Who do you draft? The kid from Florida who quit or Miami who quit halfway through a full game?
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s possible, but I don’t want to say yet because you know me and Richard’s the same way. We’re going to be reading like crazy and watching film come April. And I want to wait until actually March and April. We’re going to be watching tons of film and reading. I want to wait until then, but I think I’ll have a pretty good idea. We usually make those top five picks real close.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, here’s the thing I remember, and I’m old like you. Phil Simms came out of a Division II school.
SPEAKER 06 :
True.
SPEAKER 07 :
And we didn’t ever have – once he became the starter, he never had a problem with the Giants. So you never know with quarterbacks. You might get – well, the guy that was quarterbacking for – The Chiefs on Sunday. Carson Wentz, he came out of a Division II school and went to a Super Bowl.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s true, but he’s done. I mean, the Chiefs played their third stringers. I think they had a few cheerleaders in the game. But, you know, I do remember Phil threw 22 out of 25 against the Broncos in the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER 07 :
You know, and every time the Broncos talk about how great they were, Bronco fans, I remind them of that.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s cold. All right. John, thank you so much.
SPEAKER 10 :
Thank you.
SPEAKER 06 :

Veteran Windows and Doors never uses gimmicky high-pressure salespeople. In fact, when you work with veterans, you get the owner, Dave Bancroft. Dave will never try to manipulate you or use silly tricks upselling you. Big window companies will show you a heat lamp test that is supposed to impress you. But what does that really tell you about your windows? Other companies omit the pertinent information, and just because the window and door says Provia, it does not mean their products are engineered for Colorado or even anywhere in the U.S. Dave prefers to be the last window and door company you meet with, so he can give you all the information the others fail to reveal. Like the U-Factor, efficiency ratings, and even if it’s Energy Star certified. And of course, don’t forget the tax rebates many people didn’t know they could receive. Just talk to any of Veteran’s previous clients and they will be the first to tell you. Get your high-quality windows and doors without all the gimmicks. SPEAKER 18 :
Putting reason into your afternoon drive, this is John Rush.
SPEAKER 06 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, Andy Pate filling in for John Rush along with Luke Cash. Man. Okay, now. Really quick here, we’ve got just a few minutes. I want to talk about January 6th, the rioters.
SPEAKER 09 :
Pardon is the word you were thinking of.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, Trump’s going to pardon them all. And I know a lot of people are going to say, oh, he shouldn’t pardon them. I think he should. First of all, a number of them shouldn’t even be in prison. Secondly, a number of those who are in prison, who I think deserved some prison time for their actions on January 6th, have served long enough. Okay, I mean, come on. Really? Four years? I mean, really? We got people who rob and loot, who are involved in looting and are out in, what, 30 days or whatever. This is crazy. It’s just not balanced. But I just want to remind people who think, oh, those Trump voters, they’re all crazy. How can they possibly think 2020 was stolen? Well, You know, guys, I do not support any of what they did on January 6th, and I also don’t take some of the extreme views of some of those who pushed the 2020 cheat. Okay? You know, I was never into talking about Dominion. I never cared. I never thought much was done. I do believe Dominion appears to be open to compromise, but I don’t think it was really used. Okay? I’ve never seen any evidence of it. Do I say… Do I say for certain that 2020 was stolen for absolutely certain? No, I do not, because no audit was done. Right. I’m one of these people, until I see the absolute evidence, I’m not going to make the call. However, and we talked about this last week. For those who don’t know, I’ve been in a couple of companies where basically my company had me find thieves, especially in theaters. When I was managing movie theaters, I got very good at it, and I’m a real natural. They even sent me into one theater in Oklahoma, two theaters actually in Oklahoma, and one in particular where this one guy was basically… working deals across the entire city to his benefit, a manager was. And I had him walked out in irons. I had another case where a manager in a theater in Kansas City was stealing. I caught him. He had been getting away with it for many years. I caught him in 30 days. Okay. Just by looking at the numbers and tracking the numbers. What I do is I track the numbers and I look for anomalies. And when I see an anomaly, I wonder why is the anomaly there? And the first thing I say is, okay, is there anything else that could explain this? First, I try to clear them. Okay. And sometimes I did. Okay. But then I start looking at saying, okay, what are those numbers tell me? Now, for those who look at 2020 and want to say that the Trump supporters are all a bunch of kooks, First of all, I’m going to say some of them are. Am I right? You’ve heard some of them. They go off and 2020 is all they talk about. And they do come off like kooks and crackpots. And they don’t trust any election result anywhere. They never trust any polling anywhere unless it’s in favor of them.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, definitely a handful of people out there like that.
SPEAKER 06 :
I mean, wouldn’t you say some come off pretty crazy?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I’d say so.
SPEAKER 06 :
And these are my cohorts. Right. Okay. But what I want to share with people is some very simple numbers that show, look, they have a point. Okay? And this is, once again, when you look at numbers and you look at anomalies and you say, well, what would explain this beyond cheating?
SPEAKER 10 :
Right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Once again, as we talked about last Tuesday, you have 19 Bellwether counties. And Bellwether counties are counties that almost always vote for the winner. Be it Republican or Democrat. They’re so close and they so reflect the mood of the country that they always go for the one who wins. Almost always. OK, let me go through them really quick again. There were 19 of them out of 19 since 1994. Here’s 84. Here’s how it goes. In 1984, 19 of them, 19 out of 19 voted for the winner. Reagan, okay? In 1988, 17 out of 19 voted for the winner. 92, 18 out of 19 voted for the winner. 96, 19 out of 19 voted for the winner. 2000, 19 out of 19 voted for the winner. And by the way, these are going back and forth between Democrat and Republican. It’s really incredible. 2004, 18 out of 19 voted for the winner. 2008, 18. 2012, 19. 2016, 19. And 2012, I mean, that was Obama. 2016, that was Trump. 19 out of 19 picked them both. Yeah. These are the same counties. Right. I mean, districts. 2021. out of 19 chose the winner. One. Yeah. Okay. 2024 this year, 17. It went right back up to 17 out of 19 chose the winner. Okay, right there, if I was looking for a thief, I would say they’re stealing. There’s no way that there is. I mean, this tells me that there was enough fraud. And there was a lot of fraud. Look, I think a lot of it came because of COVID. I think you had so much mail-in voting across the country. I think the Democrats made great use of it. Now, really quick here, the other thing is the popular vote. And I don’t want to go into these dry numbers. Okay. Let me just go back and just do like three or four elections. OK, here’s the Democrat vote count. Roughly, I’m rounding it up in 2012, 2016, 2020, 2024. OK, 2012, they got about 66 million votes. 2016, once again, about 66 million votes. 2020, 82 million votes. 2024, 75 million votes. Do you see one of these things is not like the others?
SPEAKER 09 :
Off by a couple million.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s an incredible jump.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Meanwhile, the Republicans, 2012, they got about 61 million votes. 2016 got about 63 million votes, so it’s rising. 2020, big year. A lot of people were engaged, right? 74 million votes. This year, it continued rising, 77 million votes. Okay. Okay. The one that is a consistent rise. Right. OK. Whereas with the Democrats, you have even even enormous jump in 2020 and then it drops back down seven. The Democrats basically gained. about 15 million votes, 15, 16, going from 2016 to 2020. That’s a lot of votes. And then they lost 7 million of those again this year in 2024, last year. Okay. When you look at those numbers and you look at the bellwether counties, I think we have to look at January 6th and say, well, nobody was in the right rushing the Capitol. That’s nuts. Okay. But did they have a point? Yeah, they had a point. Okay. And here’s what really gets me about this, Luke. The Democrats have protested against elections too. Remember, Al Gore swore he had it stolen from him. In the year Al Gore lost, 19 out of 19 of those bellwether counties chose George W. Bush.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right.
SPEAKER 06 :
In the year Hillary lost, 19 out of 19 chose Donald Trump. And Hillary, for four years, said Donald Trump was an illegitimate president. She said she was cheated out of the election.
SPEAKER 09 :
They were big on the Russia steal.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, Russia steal, Russia steal, Russian collusion. By the way, none of it was proven, none. Donald Trump, only one out of 19 voted against him. And in Donald Trump’s year, the Democrat got 7 million more votes roughly than they got this year. And 15, 16 million, about 15 million more than they got in 2016. There was an enormous jump of votes for Democrats in 2020 for a very unexciting Joe Biden candidate. That makes no sense. Now, if I were still the guy who was trying to catch crooks in theaters… If I looked at those numbers, absolutely, I would say I got a thief.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Now, once again, am I going to draw the final conclusion? No. But the reason I’m saying this is this. Folks, I know you know some friends who go cuckoo about the 2020 election. You know some friends who seem to just fixate and focus on it and say it’s everything and claim every religion from now until kingdom come is stolen because of the 2020 election. And we’re never going to be treated honestly again. Everything’s a cheat. I know you get friends who hyperventilate over 2020. No, they shouldn’t hyperventilate that much, but please give them a lot of grace because the numbers say they’ve got a massive point. A massive point. Is that fair? Fair enough. And on that note, let’s let 2020 go. Does that sound fair? We’re done. Yeah, we’re done because guess what? We just won and life is good and I don’t care. No, seriously. I’m very happy. We just won. We took it back and we don’t have to worry about it again. Oh, I’m just, I think I’ve had enough.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I think a lot of us have. I think we’ve all had enough.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I mean, it’s just, look, I just don’t think at this point that there’s any way to say that there wasn’t enough that went on. There’s no way to look at January 6, 2020, and say that what the Republicans went through that year is the same as what other people have gone through. No, it isn’t. They had an election that it looks in every way like it was stolen from them.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I mean, we’ve seen a couple of times the graph when that 2020 election finally finished where you have the red arc that goes across and then in comparison to the blue arc and you get this really big vertical jump and then the arc continues. I think that was circulating around for a little while. And I remember, I mean, like you were saying, Dominion was a big talking point. I was never worried so much about Dominion and my stance on the subject. It’s a little all over the place.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, what is your stance? Your basic stance?
SPEAKER 09 :
My basic stance? I don’t know. I don’t know. Was it stolen? Maybe. Could have been. You know, does it matter? We got the results we got. And did it happen again? Maybe. I don’t know.
SPEAKER 06 :
I feel… You know the thing that really hurts? No. It destroyed the country.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah. I guess for me… There’s nothing I can do about it, right? There’s not a lot of say I have, right? People way above my pay grade are making these decisions and making the calls to actions and – That’s fair. Putting people in chairs and getting lawyers all over it. It’s like that’s – I don’t know. I can’t do anything. There’s – Nothing I say or do, there’s no amount of whining and complaining. There’s no amount of legitimate rage I can display that will change the course of any of these things. So I don’t know why, for me personally, why lose any sleep over it. Nothing I can do about it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, let’s take a break. When we come back, we’re going to talk a little bit more about Trump. I’m getting more excited. I want to know, what are you most excited about with Trump? Sound good? Sounds good. Okay, up next is Veteran Windows and Doors. They tell you to shop around because they know they have the best value. SPEAKER 04 :
Back to Rush to Reason. Presented by High Five Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Electric. Where every call ends with a high five.
SPEAKER 06 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, Andy Pate filling in for John Rush. Luke, we’ve got to talk about Mark Zuckerberg. I wanted to go to Trump, but then I just remembered Mark Zuckerberg.
SPEAKER 09 :
Mark Zuckerbug. The dude’s an alien.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, he just made enormous changes at X. I mean, not at X, but at Facebook.
SPEAKER 09 :
Facebook? What’s he doing?
SPEAKER 06 :
Meta. Okay, you want to hear him? Sure. Okay, here we go. Folks, this is incredible, and I think this shows a lot more about the mood of the country and how it’s changing. Here we go.
SPEAKER 08 :
Here’s what we’re gonna do. First, we’re gonna get rid of fact checkers and replace them with community notes, similar to X, starting in the US. After Trump first got elected in 2016, the legacy media wrote nonstop about how misinformation was a threat to democracy. We tried in good faith to address those concerns without becoming the arbiters of truth. But the fact checkers have just been too politically biased and have destroyed more trust than they’ve created.
SPEAKER 06 :
OK, really quick here. Do you believe him? Do you believe they tried to do it in good faith?
SPEAKER 09 :
No, I think they tried to bet on a horse and that horse lost.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 09 :
Thank you.
SPEAKER 06 :
Basically, yes, they bet on a horse and their horse lost because here’s what it comes down to. Their fact-checkers were 100% hardcore left-wingers who were not fact-checking. They were censoring the right in every way, shape, and form they possibly could. And it was grotesquely unfair. And what happened? An election happened and they lost. And this guy had to go down and grovel before Trump. How much of this do you think is Elon Musk has had a real impact in the tech titan industry? i don’t know because elon musk took x which was twitter okay twitter had been this completely biased place too right okay completely biased platform and you had uh the fact checkers there were just destroying conservatives right okay and now facebook has it happen what do you think
SPEAKER 09 :
There’s got to be some sort of connection there. I mean, surely they’re seeing how popular it was, the transition on X to community notes. So I think they’re very, like we’re saying, they bet on horses, right? They’re following trends. They’re trying to go in a direction that’s going to optimize their profits. I mean, that’s the only thing they care about. So if they believe that this transition is going to optimize their profits, that’s what they’re going to do.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, it’s pretty cool, because it’s like this election win is already affecting our lives in a very good way. Yeah, I don’t care if you’re left or right. Okay, you should be happy about this.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s good.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, because it should be an open exchange of ideas. That’s what we should have. To me, the next great thing that would need to happen is Google search engines. Yeah, no, I’m serious.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, no, you’re right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Google search engines are unbelievably left wing.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yes. They’re also, like, terrible now, just in general.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, they are.
SPEAKER 09 :
They’re impossible to use.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. They try to steer you toward left-wing goals. Here you’re looking for something on Trump, and what do you get? 15 articles on how bad he is and how Trump is Satan. And it’s just crazy. I think that we are starting to see, I don’t know, a break in the ice. Let’s listen to a little bit more of Mark.
SPEAKER 08 :
So over the next couple of months, we’re going to phase in a more comprehensive community notes system. Second, we’re going to simplify our content policies and get rid of a bunch of restrictions on topics like immigration and gender that are just out of touch with mainstream discourse.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. They’ve been allowing full discussion of immigration and gender if you were left wing. So what he’s really saying is he’s going to let the right speak. Right. Here we go.
SPEAKER 08 :
What started as a movement to be more inclusive has increasingly been used to shut down opinions and shut out people with different ideas and
SPEAKER 06 :
It was never a movement to be more inclusive. It was always a movement to shut down opinion and shut down different ideas. And you did it on purpose. Is that fair? Yeah. Yeah. He’s lying, but I don’t care. I don’t care. Whatever brings some change to Facebook. Here we go.
SPEAKER 08 :
And it’s gone too far. So I want to make sure that people can share their beliefs and experiences on our platforms. Third, We’re changing how we enforce our policies to reduce the mistakes that account for the vast majority of censorship on our platforms. We used to have filters that scanned for any policy violation. Now we’re going to focus those filters on tackling illegal and high severity violations.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. No, you had filters that tried to filter out the right. Okay. Once again, he’s lying, but I don’t care. All right. I mean, you know, this idea. And I do believe that in these public discourse areas, you should have filters for let’s say somebody is posting violent threats.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right. Somebody’s posting, I’m going to kill this person or get that person or I think that we should do this or that. I think that those should immediately have the FBI at their door when they do that kind of thing, don’t you? Yeah. So, you know, it’s good. Here we go.
SPEAKER 08 :
And for lower severity violations, we’re going to rely on someone reporting an issue before we take action. The problem is that the filters make mistakes and they take down a lot of content that they shouldn’t. So by dialing them back, we’re going to dramatically reduce the amount of censorship on our platforms.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, they weren’t mistakes. You did it on purpose and it was one-sided. Here we go.
SPEAKER 08 :
We’re also going to tune our content filters to require much higher confidence before taking down content. The reality is that this is a trade-off. It means we’re going to catch less bad stuff, but we’ll also reduce the number of innocent people’s posts and accounts that we accidentally take down.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s fair. Don’t you think? Okay, going on.
SPEAKER 08 :
Fourth, we’re bringing back civic content. For a while, the community asked to see less politics because it was making people stressed, so we stopped recommending these posts. But it feels like we’re in a new era now, and we’re starting to get feedback that people want to see this content again. So we’re going to start phasing this back into Facebook, Instagram, and threads while working to keep the communities friendly and positive. Fifth, we’re gonna move our trust and safety and content moderation teams out of California, and our US-based content review is gonna be based in Texas. As we work to promote free expression, I think that it will help us build trust to do this work in places where there is less concern about the bias of our teams.
SPEAKER 06 :
And where they can pay lower taxes.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah. Come on, let’s be honest.
SPEAKER 06 :
I mean, now, what do you think about all this?
SPEAKER 09 :
I think it’s a good strategy for the current discourse. I don’t buy a single word he says, right?
SPEAKER 06 :
No, no, no.
SPEAKER 09 :
Like we said, he’s placing his bet on a new horse is what he’s doing. The last one lost, so doing a full 180, going to place their bet on the next horse, and I guarantee you if this one loses, then they’ll go right back to the way things were.
SPEAKER 06 :
But when’s the last time that you saw the American voter so completely overhaul major industry like this?
SPEAKER 09 :
It’s been a while. It’s been a while.
SPEAKER 06 :
I mean, this is shocking.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Don’t you think?
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah. I mean, the last time.
SPEAKER 06 :
I think we will see some real differences. I’m not saying that Facebook is suddenly meta, whatever. It’s suddenly, guys, just keep your names, Twitter, Facebook. You know, you’re driving me nuts. I don’t think that they are suddenly going to become this bastion of open-mindedness. No. No.
SPEAKER 09 :
No, I think they’re trying to make money, and they’ll do whatever they can to make money.
SPEAKER 06 :
Good news?
SPEAKER 09 :
Maybe. I don’t know. I think right now it feels like it’s moving in a positive direction.
SPEAKER 06 :
You see, I think it is good news. I think it feels great, and I feel like a winner today. Once again, I’ve been feeling like a winner a lot lately. And I’m just getting very excited about when Trump takes over on the 20th. A lot of good things happening. But I think this is the big thing we’re seeing, this movement in Western civilization, a movement toward individual freedom. This is what we just saw in Canada. Let’s face it. He got he’s getting thrown out. He got ousted because he crushed individual liberties. He did.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
OK. And we’re seeing that the left in America was crushing individual liberties. And by the way, when you do that, you’re going to hurt the free market and that hurt the economy. OK. Because you’re saying a lot of it has to do with the economy. I agree. But I think they they go together. Right. All right. I think that Western civilization right now is rising up and just saying, look, we want our governments to serve us, not control us. And I think they’re saying that everywhere. And I think they’re also saying that of platforms like Facebook. You’re there to serve me, pal. You are there to serve me. You’re not there to tell me what I should post and shouldn’t post. If I’m violent, that’s another thing. I’m threatening other people on your server. That’s fair. You should take me out. But otherwise, you shouldn’t. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, I think you’re pretty dead on. I think a lot of people, on the whole, want a lot of the same things. It’s just the approach to get those things are different. I think people, on the whole, they want to be safe and secure in their person. They want to be able to express themselves freely and openly. We want to be able to afford food and all that fun stuff. I think people want a lot of the same stuff, and this is the method that’s, I think, more closely aligning with those goals at the moment.
SPEAKER 06 :
I agree. It’s good news. Okay, let’s go to break. When we come back, we’ll talk a little Trump. I want to ask you, and I’ll tell you this right before the break, what are you most excited about with the new presidency with Donald Trump? Sounds good. All right. Up next is Geno’s Auto. SPEAKER 03 :
Listen online, klzradio.com. Back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 06 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, Andy Pate filling in for John Rush. One more day, John will be back tomorrow, I can’t wait. Luke Cash. Man, yes. Luke, what are you most excited about with Donald Trump coming back into office? What’s really got you jazzed?
SPEAKER 09 :
What am I excited for? I’m excited to see how… The Republicans solve problems with as few excuses as possible. I agree. Having the presidency, having the House and the Senate as narrow as it is. Right. I think this is as good as it’s going to get for the foreseeable future unless things change in a very positive direction. So I’m excited to see what problems they address. I mean, what problems they really focus on, how they solve the problems that matter. And watching it play out, like I said, with as few excuses as you can get in the current day and age.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, let’s look at issues. I’m most excited about the border. I want the invasion stopped. And that doesn’t mean no more immigration, folks. It means no more illegal immigration. I want us to have a full border with ports of entry. You want to come here, you’ve got to go through the port of entry and show that you should be here. You know what? It’s just like the door in my house.
SPEAKER 09 :
Nations should have borders? An absurd notion. Right. You’re crazy.
SPEAKER 06 :
And Luke, I think a lot of people understand this. Do you protect your house with walls and doors or lawn and floors?
SPEAKER 09 :
Doors and walls.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, yeah, you can’t. Lawn and floors, people just walk across, right? That’s what we’ve had for four years. It’s been an absolute invasion of our country. I’m most excited about Tom Holman, and I’m very excited about mass deportations that are going to start with the dangerous elements. And I’m not saying nobody will be kept, but I think there are a lot of people who really, they’ve got to go through the process legally. This is, no other country has what we’ve had for the last four years.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, bad actors got to go.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, they’ve got to go. I think another thing I’m really excited about is crime.
SPEAKER 09 :
You’re excited about crime?
SPEAKER 06 :
Going down.
SPEAKER 09 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Because, yeah. Well, no, because, look, we’ve had an absolute lawless leadership for the last four years. They’re lawless. Utterly lawless. Right? Yeah. And these are the people who are on the side of defund the cops. They’re on the side of, you know, look – Biden basically just let a lot of criminals out of prison or shortened their sentences. They are, Alvin Bragg, he doesn’t look, they do nothing about terrorism. Look what happened in New Orleans. Here they were spending a lot of FBI resources on going after parents at school who speak up at school board meetings, right? And going after Catholics, right? Because they’re pro-life. They were literally doing this. They were literally putting people on their terror watch list who said things that were against their politics. Kash Patel is going to come in and he, yeah, he’s right wing, but he’s not going to suddenly just go after all the left wingers. He is going to have the FBI out there tracking down dangerous threats, whether they be right, left, or in the middle. I like that. I want a return of lawfulness. What do you think?
SPEAKER 09 :
That’d be nice. That’d be nice. I mean, what is it, Denver specifically? We’re like the number one center of car thefts.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 09 :
Everywhere, basically, in all of America. That’s a problem. We need some, I mean, we’ve got to do something about all of that, right?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes. I think, I want it to be cool again to enforce the law. I want it to be cool again to use cops to go after dangerous people. Not just raise revenues by giving out tickets. Or not, you know, or federal cops not just being used to go after the party that’s out of power. Mm-hmm. Okay, look, I want lawfulness again. Okay, here’s another thing. I just want somebody who’s strong on the world stage. Trump is strong. He is very strong. We’ve had utter weakness on the world stage. I want our money out of Ukraine.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, 100%.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, I want the war in Ukraine to end. I want it done.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, I want Israel, I want that war to end.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
OK, I want. Yeah, you’re not going to end all wars forever, but I want a strong leader comes in and says, hey, this is this is it.
SPEAKER 09 :
We’re not going to end all wars, but I want my money to stop going there. I don’t.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, here’s the last question. I’ll give it to you really quick. What is it meant to America to have a president who’s owned by other countries, which he really has been?
SPEAKER 09 :
I mean, it’s it’s it’s crippled us. I mean, I’m not the biggest Trump fan in the whole wide world, but you don’t have to. You have 2020 vision to see that Biden was an incredibly weak leader.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, you’re a moderate, okay, and that’s why I like having you here. I wanted to ask you this because you’re not a big Trumpy. No. But you do like Trump more than Biden. I know you do. Oh, yeah. I can tell. You know, what is it going to be like just having a president, even when you don’t agree with him sometime, knowing that at least he’s not owned by foreign interests?
SPEAKER 09 :
It’ll be big. It’ll hopefully shake up things in the right way.
SPEAKER 06 :
I think it will. I’m excited. I’m excited. I’m mega proud on this. There are times when I disagree with Trump, and people know that, on entitlements especially. Okay, but I’m excited. I think we have great times ahead. I think we’re going to have a better country. And that’s it. Hey, Luke, thanks for joining me today.
SPEAKER 09 :
Oh, thanks for having me.
SPEAKER 06 :
You bet. It’s been awesome. That is it for hour number two and hour number three. I’m going to be talking to Jersey Joe as we watch Left Going Crazy nationwide. Until then… Keep it right here on Rush to Reason, KLZ 560.
