Join Andy Pate as he dives into the world of Rush to Reason, filling in for John Rush. This episode explores a wide range of topics, starting with the challenges of facing life head-on and not looking for an easy way out. Ride along as the hosts tackle impossible questions that scratch the brain, like the limits of a white dwarf in space, and unravel the insights behind these curious queries.
SPEAKER 18 :
This is Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 04 :
You are going to shut your damn yapper and listen for a change because I got you pegged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only you to blame. Let me break this down for you. Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
SPEAKER 18 :
With your host, John Rush.
SPEAKER 09 :
My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
SPEAKER 26 :
Get a job first. You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same and there’s a big difference.
SPEAKER 23 :
Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
SPEAKER 09 :
Are you crazy? Am I? Or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
SPEAKER 05 :
It’s Rush to Reason with your host, John Rush. Presented by Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning.
SPEAKER 02 :
Actually, it’s Andy Pate.
SPEAKER 06 :
Party of choice. And welcome to our number two here on Rush to Reason. I am Andy Pate filling in for John Rush along with Tanner Cole.
SPEAKER 04 :
Man.
SPEAKER 06 :
And Tanner, I’ll tell you what. Richard will be joining us shortly after the break. Why don’t we really quick look at the impossible question of the day. Are you ready for yesterday’s impossible question? Of course. Okay, this is a tough one. Get this. What is the name of the limit that determines whether a white dwarf will collapse? No, not Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. A white dwarf. Whether it will collapse into a neutron star or a black hole.
SPEAKER 20 :
Are you talking about a person? No, I’m talking about outer space. I’m the last person to ask about that.
SPEAKER 06 :
It says the Chandrasekhar limit. Okay.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, sure. Thanks, Elon. I needed that.
SPEAKER 06 :
That one’s really tough. Yeah, Elon might know that. Okay, next. Here’s today’s impossible question. Which European country was given control of Brazil under the Treaty of Tordesil?
SPEAKER 20 :
Portugal.
SPEAKER 06 :
Tordesil. You’re right.
SPEAKER 20 :
I just know that because they speak Portuguese.
SPEAKER 06 :
And I’ve been there. And I just told everybody. Sorry, folks. We now know. Yeah, that one I knew, too. It’s Portugal. Okay. Well done. Pretty not impossible. Really quick. Why did you know that?
SPEAKER 20 :
I’ve been to Brazil. I know they speak Portuguese. Oh. One of the coolest places I’ve ever been. Rio. It was for soccer. We went there for like a week. It was amazing. My best friend was there. I met a girlfriend there. It was fantastic.
SPEAKER 06 :
It was wonderful down there?
SPEAKER 20 :
Oh, I mean.
SPEAKER 06 :
Did you go to the beaches? Yeah, we went to the beaches. Supposedly, the Rio beaches are the thing.
SPEAKER 20 :
It was amazing. They wouldn’t even let us go in the water because the locals weren’t. The waves were so big. We didn’t really see too much crime. We got near the favelas. We had no problems.
SPEAKER 06 :
Did you commit any?
SPEAKER 20 :
Uh, maybe.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, maybe.
SPEAKER 20 :
Some of the kids we were playing soccer against, I mean, they were fantastic, of course, but they wouldn’t even talk to each other in Portuguese because we had to have a few Portuguese players with us or on our team. They would talk in like bird calls. To have the ball swung into them or crossed into them, they would send out a cuckoo. It was entertaining, but… You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve never seen anything like it still to this day, and I watch soccer pretty much every day.
SPEAKER 06 :
Wow. Okay, then.
SPEAKER 20 :
It was fun. Well, that sounds great. I gave a kid my cleats and made his whole year, so that was nice.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s totally awesome. Okay, let’s take a break. We’ll come back with Richard Rush, and we are going to do… What is it again?
SPEAKER 20 :
Fantasy and fairytale movies.
SPEAKER 06 :

SPEAKER 06 :
And welcome back to Rush Reason. Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560. Andy Pate filling in for John Rush along with Tanner Cole. Man. And online right now we’ve got Richard Rush. Richard, I’ll bet you watch a lot of fairy tale and fantasy type movies because you’re kids.
SPEAKER 18 :
You know, it’s going to be an easier category for me, Andy. That is for sure.
SPEAKER 06 :
Is it really? So you watch quite a lot.
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, yeah. How often? It is the bread and butter of Friday night movie nights, Andy.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, well, this is going to be easy for you. Okay, I’m going to do one that’s kind of an old one, but, you know, I got to go right to Richard’s all-time favorite recording artist. That is, of course, Donny Osmond from Mulan. Here we go.
SPEAKER 21 :
Must be swift at the coursing river With all the force of a great typhoon With all the strength of raging fire Mysterious as the dark side Be a man, Richard.
SPEAKER 06 :
Be a man, Andy. I mean, I actually, I really like Mulan. I thought it was a terrific cartoon. I think that was probably about a four-and-a-half-star movie. I mean, it was very funny, very entertaining. Eddie Murphy, as always, was fantastic. What did you think, Richard?
SPEAKER 18 :
It’s one of the, well, it’s an older movie, obviously, Andy, right? But it’s one of the better movies, I will say. They just did really well. really well put together, not super slow, because at times some of these older movies can get a little bit, I don’t know, long in the tooth, as they might say.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, you’re right. A lot of these older ones move really slowly, but that one moved quick.
SPEAKER 18 :
It did. No, it was fantastic. And then the musical score was great. Overall, though, I was thoroughly pleased with it, to be honest with you.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, me too. How about you, Tanner?
SPEAKER 20 :
That’s one of the best Disney songs. I haven’t heard that in 20 years or so, but that brought back some memories.
SPEAKER 06 :
Do you feel like being manly now?
SPEAKER 20 :
That and Hakuna Matata are my favorite, probably.
SPEAKER 06 :
Hakuna Matata, okay. Sounds cool. Richard, you’re up, sir.
SPEAKER 18 :
All right, Andy, this is one. When you said this, this movie instantly popped in my head because it’s like fairytale creatures and stuff, and we’ll go off of some of them. But I’m going to go one. Puss in Boots, the newest ones. Have you seen those, Andy? Yeah. I like Puss in Boots. They are fantastic.
SPEAKER 06 :
Although I’m going to say that the first Puss in Boots was fresher. It was really fresh. It was so cool.
SPEAKER 18 :
The latest one is a little bit weird because they made Jack. He’s just kind of weird. They kind of got a little bit.
SPEAKER 06 :
funky with some of those i will agree with you but overall i was still good i’ve been impressed with how they yeah exactly i think puss in boots is one of the best characters cartoon characters to come along and it was so funny because here you had shrek was already incredible and of course that’ll be one of our movies coming up but shrek was incredible to begin with with the first one and then the second one they introduced puss in boots the character with antonio banderas fantastic
SPEAKER 18 :
It was just great, Andy. I love how it knows. And like you said, in Trek, we’ll talk about it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Are you there, Richard? Yeah, I’m fine. Oh, you dropped out. Real quick question. I think I want to ask this with a lot of these. How good do you think Puss in Boots is for adults and then for kids? Go.
SPEAKER 18 :
I think it’s equally funny. Actually, I think some of his humor more goes towards the adults than the kids, Andy.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I agree. I think it’s good for both, but I think it’s even better for adults. Tanner, you’re up.
SPEAKER 20 :
Probably my favorite one on this list, Pirates of the Caribbean.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER 20 :
I mean.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s an incredible, incredible movie. I was managing at a theater downtown, and we were just overrun. Oh, I bet. It was such a huge hit. And it came out. A lot of people don’t remember this. It didn’t come out on the 4th of July. It came out a couple weeks later, I believe, a week or two later. And that was a new kind of thing back then, and it just blew everybody away.
SPEAKER 20 :
Right. I remember me and my buddies, we went to like the first three for someone’s birthday every time. Like it was this big ordeal for us kids.
SPEAKER 06 :
So really cool. OK, here’s one that I think we’re all going to know. I know John hates it, but he’s not here. So I’ll play it. Here we go.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, she seems all right now. Yeah, she got quite a bump on the head. We kind of thought there for a minute she was going to leave us.
SPEAKER 08 :
But I did leave you, Uncle Henry. That’s just the trouble. And I tried to get back for days and days. There, there, lie quiet now. You just had a bad dream.
SPEAKER 28 :
Sure. Remember me? Your old pal, Hunk?
SPEAKER 08 :
Me? Hickory? You couldn’t forget my face, could you? But it wasn’t a dream. It was a place. And you and you and you and you were there. But you couldn’t have been, could you?
SPEAKER 06 :
But you couldn’t have been, could you? I mean, an entire movie made around a head injury induced hallucination. I think that was pretty cool. Did you know? Now, this is a little known fact. When she first got the head injury, she only imagined half the movie, and so they had to hit her again.
SPEAKER 20 :
What movie is it?
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s The Wizard of Oz.
SPEAKER 20 :
Oh, that’s what I thought. I just don’t remember that.
SPEAKER 06 :
Richard, you knew that one, didn’t you?
SPEAKER 20 :
Unfortunately, Andy, yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
You hate The Wizard of Oz, don’t you?
SPEAKER 18 :
Why do you hate The Wizard of Oz? It’s classic. Yeah, but the old movies like that, because they’re not as fun song-wise. I can get into the new movies because I can jam around with the songs a little bit. The old ones, not as much.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, they were pretty hokey, the songs, but all I can say is if you only had a heart, maybe you would like The Wizard of Oz. I think The Wizard of Oz is an all-time classic. I thought it was incredible, but you’re right. Those movies, if you watch it again, it’s slow.
SPEAKER 20 :
Oh, I bet.
SPEAKER 06 :
It takes a long time to get through it. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 18 :
It is terrible. All right, Andy, I think one of your favorites, I’m surprised it wasn’t one of your top two, but that’s okay, which is Tangled.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, here we go. Listen to Tangled.
SPEAKER 15 :
Standing here It’s all so clear I’m where I’m meant to be And at last I see the light And it’s like the fog has lifted And at last I see the light And it’s like the sky is moving And it’s warm and real and bright When the world has somehow shifted All at once, everything looks different Now that I see you Richard, does your wife sing that every time you enter the room?
SPEAKER 18 :
Andy, it just automatically plays.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, exactly. I know that she’s pretty taken with you. I understand. It’s kind of a crush. But I thought that that movie was tremendous. I thought it was tremendous. My wife, who was homeschooled, thinks it’s the funniest movie about homeschooling she’s ever seen in her life. And I just thought it was great. Thank you for mentioning it. And Mandy Moore is a beautiful voice.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yes. Again, a lot of these actors and actresses do Andy, surprisingly. But yes, very much so. Yep. Okay, Tanner, you’re up.
SPEAKER 20 :
Let’s go with maybe the biggest film ever, Avatar. Oh, yeah. What a, I mean, that’s a fantasy movie all the way. That was the first really big CGI movie. And what a movie.
SPEAKER 06 :
And boy, did they do it well. I mean, when you’re going to go into CGI like that and not make creepy dwarves, you know, it was amazing. It was an incredible thing to look at a spectacle from start to finish.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
And by the way, I liked the second one too. Richard, did you see the second one? I have not yet, no. It’s good. It’s good. It’s not quite as fresh as the first, but it’s good. I enjoyed it. Okay, here I’m going to actually go to Wreck-It Ralph 2. Okay? And the reason I’m going to do that is there’s a scene where Vanellope, who’s a young princess, meets all the Disney princesses. Here we go.
SPEAKER 10 :
Huh. What kind of a princess are you? What kind? Do you have magic hair? No. Magic hands? No. Do animals talk to you? No. Were you poisoned? No.
SPEAKER 01 :
Cursed?
SPEAKER 10 :
No. Kidnapped or enslaved?
SPEAKER 04 :
No.
SPEAKER 10 :
Are you guys okay? Should I call the police? Then I have to assume you made a deal with an underwater sea witch where she took your voice in exchange for a pair of human legs? No. Good lord, who would do that? Have you ever had true love’s kiss? Ew, barf! Do you have daddy issues? I don’t even have a mom. Neither do we.
SPEAKER 06 :
I just thought that was pretty funny. Richard, did you see that?
SPEAKER 18 :
Yes, Andy. Again, it’s on one of the repeat ones, right?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, it’s on one of the repeat ones. I thought Wreck-It Ralph 2, I didn’t think it was that great of a movie, but I thought the scene with the princesses was great. So there you go. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 18 :
Real quick, Andy, did you do – you’re probably like a non-March Madness guy, right? You’re just an NBA guy?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, pretty much. I’m not even much of an NBA guy because my team is the Bucs and they’re awful, so I’m just a miserable person.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, you are correct there, but you’re missing out, Andy. Missing out. Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Why? Is it going well for you?
SPEAKER 18 :
I mean, there haven’t been a ton of upsets this go-around yet, right? I mean, lots of the higher teams have been winning. There’s been a few scares. Yeah. But not like crazy. You know, usually there’s like a 14 that beats a, I guess that would be a three, right? Or even an occasional 15 that beats the two. I think that I don’t know, Clemson lost, which not a lot of people thought was going to happen. CSU won. My wife is happy about that.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, that’s cool.
SPEAKER 18 :
Just recently.
SPEAKER 06 :
Did the Badgers lose? I got to ask, did the Badgers lose yet?
SPEAKER 18 :
No, they won yesterday.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, what do you know? Because every year the Badgers are supposed to be decent, and they lose in the first round to some nobody team.
SPEAKER 20 :
They are some choke artists. Hopefully Marquette wins today for me.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, my Badgers never do well. I’d love to see them make the Sweet 16 just once. That would be my fairy tale. It’s not going to happen.
SPEAKER 18 :
Andy, Andy, they’re playing right now, or they’re playing just down the road. You should go see them.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I’ll get right there. A little busy.
SPEAKER 18 :
I figured you would be. But anyway, so, okay. All right. Fantasies, fairy tales. Yeah. I am going to go. We talked about it. Because, again, I love the making fun of the fairy tale creatures and all of those, which is Shrek. Yes. Because my finders are fantastic. And did you know they’re coming out with a new one, Andy?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I’m worried. I think it’s Threadbare. I think they’re Threadbare. They’re just running on fumes. Yeah.
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, they’re trying to bring, again, a lot of these studios, Andy, right, they’re trying to kind of bring back what has worked. And no offense, but you’ve got quite a bit of gap between, you know, Shrek 4 or whatever it has been up to this point in time. Even, no offense, they were running bare on Shrek 3.
SPEAKER 06 :
Do you think that, I mean, let’s face it. Young kids who would go to Shrek, right, they don’t even know what Shrek is anymore, really. And the older people, I think, are Shrek’d out because, let’s face it, the last one or two have not been very good. So what do you think it’s going to do, Richard?
SPEAKER 18 :
I mean, I’m hopeful because Mike Myers is really funny. I think Cameron Diaz is going to be in it. I’m hoping Eddie Murphy’s in it, right, with Donkey. Right. I just don’t know. Like you said, again, I don’t know how much further. I mean, I think, honestly, Andy, I will say this. I think it could be fun because it could be those movies where the parents can take the kids and the parents can enjoy it because it’s sort of a throwback to childhood. But I think the kids could enjoy it because they could bring in some fun humor and incorporate some of the newer fairy tales and some of those sorts of things. I just don’t know if they’re going to be bold enough.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, when Shrek first came out, it was such a brilliant idea to poke fun at all of the fairy tales in the way that they did. It was just brilliant. But, you know, the freshness of that, I think, is gone. Tanner, you’re up.
SPEAKER 20 :
Let’s go with something similar to, what was it? Tangled? Entangled?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 20 :
Enchanted with Amy Adams.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, yeah. That was a fun little movie, wasn’t it?
SPEAKER 20 :
I think so. It’s been a while.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s been a while. Okay. I got to go, too. And you always hear these princesses sing, so here’s another one. And, of course, this is probably widely seen as the greatest song in cartoon history. Certainly one of the top five. Here we go.
SPEAKER 15 :
Let it go Can’t hold it back anymore Let it go Let it go Turn away and slam the door I don’t care What they’re going to say Let the storm rage on The cold never bothered me anyway
SPEAKER 06 :
What are you laughing for? That was incredibly popular.
SPEAKER 20 :
To me, that’s bottom five songs ever.
SPEAKER 06 :
Look, that’s just because everybody’s heard it so many times. Why do you think they’ve heard it so many times?
SPEAKER 20 :
Because it’s annoying?
SPEAKER 06 :
Because it’s that good. Richard, help me out here. Tanner doesn’t have a soul.
SPEAKER 18 :
He doesn’t have a soul. He’s missing out on quality film.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah. And look, I thought Frozen was just a pretty good movie, but I thought some of the music, especially that song and that scene, was unlike anything I’d ever seen before. I watched that, and I leaned over to my wife and I said, we just watched history when that scene ended. I said, we just watched history. That scene is going to be replayed again and again and again everywhere for all time. It was that overwhelming, Richard. I had just never seen anything like it.
SPEAKER 18 :
No, it was, well, like you say, Andy, it was one of the more transformative animated films over the past however many years, right? It kind of set the tone for a new era of Disney, and they sort of messed it up.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, they kind of messed it up. Then they went, make it woke, make it woke. Okay, you’re up, Richard.
SPEAKER 18 :
You are correct. All right, Andy, let me see here. Okay, I’ll go with one that’s fairy tales, fantasy, and I felt like they did a decent job, but they sort of lost their way, too. And that’s Trolls. Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
I only saw part of Trolls. Did you not see a Tanner movie?
SPEAKER 20 :
I don’t watch animated movies, so this is a tough one for me.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, good. I’m glad we got one that’s more challenging for you.
SPEAKER 20 :
I’m an adult.
SPEAKER 06 :
You’re an adult. Richard and I are not. Richard has kids, and I am a kid. You like Trolls a lot, don’t you, Richard?
SPEAKER 18 :
I thought it was a pretty good one, especially the first one. The second, I even actually, I take it back, the rock tour one, it was fun. I thought they did a good job with it. This latest one wasn’t as good because my wife actually had high hopes because, you know, it was the boy bands, right? You know, Insane, Backstreet Boys. Right. And just didn’t pan out as I think that she thought, so that was a little bit underwhelming. But the first two I thought were really fun.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Tanner, you’re up.
SPEAKER 20 :
God, I don’t like any of these movies.
SPEAKER 06 :
Good. That means it’s a challenge for you.
SPEAKER 20 :
It was hard to find stuff outside of Disney. I had to really think. This is kind of fantasy, but this is the end. I’m trying to think of who’s in it. There’s a bunch of big actors.
SPEAKER 06 :
I do not know this movie. This is the end.
SPEAKER 20 :
It was a comedy end-of-the-world movie, and they all get stuck inside. Seth Rogen’s in it. Yeah, Michael Cera.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER 20 :
A lot of big comedy actors. Danny McBride.
SPEAKER 06 :
Was it pretty funny?
SPEAKER 20 :
It’s funny, yeah. Like any comedy, the more you see it, it kind of isn’t as fun. But first time seeing it, it was hilarious. One of the best movies I saw as a teenager.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, again, we’re not just doing fairy tale movies. We’re doing fantasy movies as well, so that works.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah, there was some dinosaur or something that came out at some point, so it was good.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s cool. Okay, folks, let’s take a break, and then we’ll come back to fairy tale and fantasy movies, and we will watch Tanner Sweat. Sound good? Okay, up next is Flesh Law. My wife and I won easily with Kevin Flesh. You can too, so call Flesh Law, that’s F-L-E-S-C-H, at 303-806-8886.
SPEAKER 27 :
Here’s why you need personal injury attorney Kevin Flesch on your side. He understands the way the jury thinks. In the context of a personal injury case, you’ve been hurt by someone else’s negligence. The idea is that you’re going to try to recover so that you can get back to where you were just prior to that incident occurring. What that really means from a jurist’s perspective is that you’re going to be asking them to award you money. So when we talk about fairness, we’re talking about six people that you don’t know. Those six people view the evidence and make a unanimous decision that will decide what the fair value is. When you’re the one who’s hurt, you have a good idea of what you think it’s worth. The question is, can you persuade those other individuals whom you don’t know and were witnesses to believe that’s what the case is worth? Kevin Flesch understands the way the jury thinks. Call now for a free consultation. 303-806-8886

Live and local, back to Rush to Reason.
SPEAKER 06 :
And welcome back to Rush to Reason. Denver’s Afternoon Rush, KLZ 560, Andy Pate filling in for John Rush along with Tanner Cole. Man. And on the line we got Richard Rush. Richard, before we go on, I want to ask you about Snow White. I know that Rachel Zegler is a repulsive human being. I get that. Does that make you not want to go to Snow White with the kids?
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, that and the Disney, the live action remakes from Disney are great in theory and they’re great for like, but For the younger kids, they’re just usually just a little bit, not edgy, but just scary at times, right? Like, just because of how they do some of this stuff. Like, even the Lion King, right? The live-action remake of that was just a little bit much for that. So we weren’t planning on it anyways, but with all this other stuff, it’s not really at the top of the list. Which, by the way, I guess give me your quick 10-second… Snippet, three stars, two stars, negative stars?
SPEAKER 06 :
I gave it two and a half stars. I felt it was not as bad a movie as a lot of the critics and viewers said. A lot of people have been ripping it to pieces. I thought it was pretty good. I think Rachel Zegler is a spectacular talent, an unbelievable voice, and I’ve known that ever since West Side Story. But also, it seemed very shallow. You know, I mean, you just… The characters, none of them, they all seem to, as I was saying, they all seem to be performing, not being their characters. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER 18 :
It does. It does. And like you say, in a movie like that, you sort of need that, especially like with the dwarves, right? You need them to kind of immerse themselves.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, and that was another thing, obviously, the CGI dwarves dubbed over looked, you know. Remember Polar Express, how creepy that was? the look of it yeah so good andy but again at the same time it’s a good movie but that was creepy looking was that way ahead of its time right that this was kind of creepy okay by the way movies way ahead of their time i’m going to do one this is more fantasy movie uh let’s listen this is your last chance after this there is no turning back
SPEAKER 23 :
You take the blue pill. The story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill. You stay in Wonderland. And I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, now, Richard, why is Hollywood not making truly groundbreaking, cutting-edge movies like that anymore?
SPEAKER 18 :
Andy, they’ve dropped the ball somewhere, because that’s some fun stuff right there. And you know the old adage, right? They don’t make them like they used to. Yeah. And that is one of the ones. It’s like, man, come back with some good quality, some good undertones, right, of stuff that’s going on that you’re not sure of, but is you know, and you can maybe relate to whichever religion you want out there, right? You know, a lot of people relate to your matrix, to your Christianity or to politics even, right? You know, the red pill versus the blue pill. Yeah. I don’t know, Andy. They’re missing the boat on a lot of this stuff, and I feel like they’re missing an opportunity here.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, you know, and I hear so many people say, well, they just can’t blaze any more new trails. There’s been so much. You know what, Richard? Back when The Matrix came out, people were saying the same thing. There are no more new trails to blaze. We’ve made movies about everything. There’s nothing new that we can do. And then The Matrix comes out and blows that to smithereens. I mean, people were saying that, you know, I mean, there have been so many movies that have come out and absolutely changed the way we look at it. When Saving Private Ryan came out, it completely changed how war movies are done. OK, and now all the war movies look like Saving Private Ryan. And I think it’s time for someone in Hollywood to blaze some trails.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yes, no, I 100% agree with you, Andy. Someone needs to come in and say, you know what, we’re going to take a risk here. We’re going to do something bold that maybe we haven’t done in a while. And again, when The Matrix came out, obviously it became sort of this cult thing, but now it’s widely recognized as one of the best action-type films, action drama films, fantasy films, right, of all time. So I’m 100% with you. Fantastic. Richard, you’re up. All right, Andy. Let me see. Go to my wife’s list. Okay, The Princess Bride.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, yes. What a great movie. Some good stuff right there. And your dad still has not seen this movie, has he?
SPEAKER 18 :
You know, he’s missing out, Andy. What can I say?
SPEAKER 06 :
Now, remember a couple years ago when I gave five stars? I’m suddenly forgetting what is the Tom Cruise movie that I gave five stars.
SPEAKER 20 :
Top Gun?
SPEAKER 06 :
Top Gun, Maverick. Okay? That was the first five-star movie I’ve given in years. Well, I’m going to tell you something. You just mentioned a five-star movie, Richard. That was a five-star movie, The Princess Bride. Do you think so, Andy? Yes. There is nothing I would change with that movie. It had a spectacular pace. It was wonderfully acted. It was brilliantly written. The music was spectacular. Everything about it was spectacular, and even the end with the grandfather telling the child, as you wish, for an ending was beautiful. It was gorgeous all the way through it. I wouldn’t change anything in The Princess Bride. Five-star.
SPEAKER 18 :
I will say that. They did do a pretty good job on it. They did. You can’t knock it too much, right?
SPEAKER 06 :
No, it’s awfully tough. I wouldn’t know how. Tanner, you’re up.
SPEAKER 20 :
They have everything in that movie, whatever you like in movies they have. It’s so good. Let’s go with Wicked.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, no.
SPEAKER 20 :
How dare you? Another movie I don’t like, but it’s on the list.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s on the list. Okay. I’m going to get that taste out of my mouth really quick with A Little Mermaid. Now, Richard, that blazed new trails. I mean, a Jamaican show-stopping tune like that blew people away.
SPEAKER 18 :
And then they’ve got to ruin it with the live action, Andy. I’m just saying.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, yeah, that was awful. Oh, my gosh. Sebastian in the live action didn’t look anything like Sebastian. He was awful. I wake up screaming at 2 a.m. thinking about the live action. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 18 :
You should. All right, here, let me go with, this one’s from my wife, Harry Potter. All of those. Yes, yes. And of course, in honor, especially in honor of my dad, because we know his feelings on those, Andy.
SPEAKER 06 :
He still has not seen them. He doesn’t understand. I’m telling you, Harry Potter, it was not a movie that had overwhelming special effects throughout the whole movie. They would tastefully work it in here and there and here and there, along with a great story and three central characters who had perfect chemistry. I love Harry Potter.
SPEAKER 18 :
He just won’t appreciate it. That’s just never been his jam, unfortunately. But he’s missing out because it’s actually one of my wife’s and my favorite things. Probably not every year, but maybe every other year, we’ll sit down and actually go through, I guess, seven and a half, eight movies, technically.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s why you had a childhood with no happiness, Richard.
SPEAKER 18 :
No, because I couldn’t, Andy. I couldn’t watch those. I’ll tell you more about that when he gets back.
SPEAKER 06 :
Did you ever say, but daddy, I want to be happy? Did he just say no? You need to go to work.
SPEAKER 20 :
Shut up and get to work.
SPEAKER 06 :
Shut up and drive the plow. I’m four. Drive the plow. No excuses, Andy. No excuses.
SPEAKER 20 :
Start your own business. Tanner, you’re up. I think I might be on the same page with John. I’ve watched 30 minutes of Harry Potter, then I told my friends, you’ve got to watch something else. Oh! Princess Bride’s probably the only thing me and him don’t agree on. But let’s go with Jumanji. Jumanji’s great.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s a good one.
SPEAKER 20 :
I love Jumanji. The Rock and Kevin Hart’s too good of a combo.
SPEAKER 06 :
And Jack Black.
SPEAKER 20 :
Jack Black is funny, yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
He was killer, too. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Okay, got to go to one that Richard and I know all too well. Moana, here we go.
SPEAKER 14 :
Bye. Bye. Bye.
SPEAKER 06 :
And it just cut out. I don’t know why. But there we go. That was great. Now, a lot of these Disney movies, they have like a competition. Who can have the best chick song, princess song? And that was a really good one, I thought, Richard, didn’t you?
SPEAKER 18 :
It is very good, Andy, and especially, actually, we just saw the second one. Not as good as the first one. No. But still, which I know your feelings, but again, sequels are rarely better unless you’re Top Gun Mavericks or the situation, right? Very true. And so it’s a hard bar to beat, but overall, yes, Moana, again, kind of up there, right in the line of Frozen, Andy.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I would agree. Okay, you’re up.
SPEAKER 18 :
Let’s see here. Oh, Chronicles of Narnia.
SPEAKER 06 :
Nice. That was a good movie. I enjoyed it. Well done. It really honored the source material.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 20 :
I still get nightmares about that witch. I can’t remember who the actress is. Or the queen.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, she’s been in a lot of stuff. Actually, she’s a great actress.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, you’re up.
SPEAKER 20 :
I guess this is fairytale and kind of fancy. Star Wars. Yes. Let’s group them all together.
SPEAKER 06 :
Are you kidding?
SPEAKER 20 :
Maybe the best series ever. At least the first six movies.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, the first three for sure.
SPEAKER 20 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah. It got lame after that, but my gosh, coming right out of the shoot. And, you know, Richard, have you ever seen a series come right out of the shoot and have such great characters as Luke and Leia and Han and Chewbacca and the droids and everything? They were just so great right away.
SPEAKER 18 :
No, they were fantastic, Andy. And again, like you say, it’s hard to go, well, they went backwards, right? Obviously, when they went episode one and two and three, although I don’t think they’re, unless you’re a Jar Jar Binks fan like yourself, Andy.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, yes, very much so.
SPEAKER 18 :
Some people might say, but overall, no, yes. It’s kind of the quintessential king of the fantasy, you know, that kind of realm.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, it’s hard for John because I often come to the show dressed as Jar Jar Binks. I do. I can’t help it. I’m a fan. I’m just a fan. Okay. Worst character ever. One character destroys an entire movie. It was so funny. Okay, now here’s a movie that not many people have seen, and it’s a Disney classic, and that is Hercules. And Hercules actually is a great movie that has a really good pace. Now, here’s the song, I Won’t Say I’m in Love. So it’s the girl’s song. Here we go.
SPEAKER 16 :
No chance, no way, I won’t say it, no, no. Give up, forgive it, check the green, you’re in love. This scene won’t play, I won’t say I’m in love. You’re doing this, bring our lips, you’re in love. You weigh all space, I won’t say it. She won’t say enough, shut up, shut up. Get off my case, I won’t say it. Girl, don’t be proud, it’s okay, you’re in love.
SPEAKER 12 :
Or at least out loud, I won’t say I’m in love.
SPEAKER 06 :
That was a fun little song. I really like that one, Richard. What’d you think?
SPEAKER 18 :
No, it was, Andy. You’re not wrong. It’s very catchy is the right word for it, right?
SPEAKER 06 :
It was catchy. I mean, everybody thinks about Go the Distance, right? That’s the main theme song for Hercules. And it was a great song. It was the best song. But this song, I don’t know. It hooked me. I liked it. You’re up, Richard.
SPEAKER 18 :
All right, Andy. Kind of a fun one, a fun take, I think, on, again, an old classic of Peter Pan, which is Hook with Robin Williams.
SPEAKER 06 :
I love Robin Williams. I miss him. What a loss. Oh, so good. What a talent. I agree. Okay, Tanner, you’re up.
SPEAKER 20 :
Let’s go with Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl.
SPEAKER 06 :
Richard, you have to see all these things. Have you seen that?
SPEAKER 18 :
I don’t know if I’ve seen that one, Andy. I’ve seen one that’s kind of in my next land, but that’s it.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Okay. Then now we got to see a fairy tale for adults. It’s for us. Okay. So not for the kids. And this is the, from the trailer of Hansel and Gretel witch hunters.
SPEAKER 29 :
My name is Gretel. And this is my brother Hansel.
SPEAKER 08 :
I’m not going to have you telling me what to do.
SPEAKER 11 :
How do you best kill a witch? Cutting off her head tends to work.
SPEAKER 29 :
I hate that one.
SPEAKER 06 :
Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters is one of the funnest little stupid movies I’ve seen in a long time. I really enjoyed it. Richard, have you seen that one? I actually have, Andy, and surprisingly pretty good. Yeah. I mean, it’s just stupid fun, isn’t it? You know, you got crank and rock and roll in the background as they go fight these witches. I like it. I like the characters. I don’t know. I thought it was a lot of fun. Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 18 :
All right, Andy, in the same veil, this wasn’t on my list, but it’s fantasy, this type of a deal. I’m going with it, which is Van Helsing.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, yeah. I love Van Helsing. I’ve seen it like eight times. It’s just so much fun. And your dad has not seen that one either.
SPEAKER 18 :
And he’s missing out because Hugh Jackman does a great Van Helsing.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, he’s perfect. He was so good. Absolutely. Okay. Tanner, you’re up.
SPEAKER 20 :
Let’s go with Hot tub time machine.
SPEAKER 06 :
Hot tub time machine. I guess that’s a fantasy movie.
SPEAKER 20 :
Fairy tale, you could say.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, sort of, kind of, maybe, I guess so. You know, you’re stretching it, man. You are out of your league on these. I am. Okay, we’re going to take one more break. When we come back, we’re going to do rapid fire. Are you guys ready?
SPEAKER 20 :
Ready.
SPEAKER 06 :

When it comes to your estate, you really don’t want to leave things up to luck. Michael Bailey doesn’t rely on chance. He relies on solid, thorough planning and getting to know you as you develop your plan together. That’s because a good estate plan isn’t about luck. It’s about wisdom, preparation, and making sure your family is protected no matter what. Think about it. When you pass on, will you leave your family to guess what to do with your possessions, investments, and other assets? Or would you want to make those instructions very clear so your family can know your final wishes in detail? That’s what an estate plan does. It’s not about luck. It’s about making sure what you want to happen is followed, your assets are protected, and your family isn’t left searching for answers. Rely on solid planning from Michael Bailey, not good luck charms. Find the mobile estate planner Michael Bailey on the klzradio.com advertisers page to make sure your last wishes are followed.

SPEAKER 18 :
It’s rock and roll.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s rock and roll. Okay, I’m going to go with one my wife just sent me. And, folks, this is a fun movie, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice with Nicolas Cage. It’s actually very good. Richard, go.
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, Andy, you’re getting me. Hold on. Aladdin. Aladdin.
SPEAKER 06 :
Aladdin. That is a good one. Greatest comic performance in a cartoon ever. Robin Williams. Incredible.
SPEAKER 20 :
I didn’t even know he was in that.
SPEAKER 06 :
He was a genie, yeah.
SPEAKER 20 :
We’ll go with Rachel Ziegler’s first movie, How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. How about this one? How to Train Your Dragon. Come on. That’s a fantasy, right? Okay, Richard, you’re up.
SPEAKER 18 :
Thank you very much, Andy. What’s your favorite?
SPEAKER 06 :
It is.
SPEAKER 18 :
Willy Wonka, Andy.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes! Your dad’s favorite movie. He hates it.
SPEAKER 19 :
His most favorite.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Go ahead, Tanner.
SPEAKER 20 :
Let’s go with Ted.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, come on! No, no, no. I’m not going to let that one fly.
SPEAKER 19 :
He’s not a real bear. Oh, geez.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, I’m going to get back into actually the genre. How about The Lord of the Rings? Okay, definitely a fantasy movie. Richard, go.
SPEAKER 18 :
What’s the Neverland where they fly the white dragon thingy, Andy?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, The NeverEnding Story.
SPEAKER 18 :
Never-ending story. One of the worst movies ever. But hey, there you go. It was never-ending.
SPEAKER 06 :
It was never-ending. It has not ended yet. No, it has not. Tanner, you’re up.
SPEAKER 20 :
Prince of Persia.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. That actually works. Okay, how about this one? Alice in Wonderland. It’s a classic. Richard, go.
SPEAKER 18 :
You made me think of one, Tanner, there. John Carter. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER 06 :
Kind of a fun movie.
SPEAKER 19 :
Go ahead, Tanner. You’re up. Gnomeo and Juliet.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, that’s funny. I’ve actually seen that. I love it. Okay, Johnny Depp in Sleepy Hollow. It’s a good movie. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 18 :
Paddington.
SPEAKER 06 :
Paddington. Sure, why not?
SPEAKER 20 :
Go ahead. The Great Wall. I actually really enjoyed the movie.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. Well, we’ve come this far and we have not said Cinderella. I mean, my gosh. Come on. Richard, go.
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, let’s see here. Andy, the Marvel Avengers. What are we doing here? Okay, why not?
SPEAKER 06 :
Go ahead, Tanner.
SPEAKER 20 :
Deadpool.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, I’m going to get back to the actual thing here. Beauty and the Beast. Go ahead, Richard.
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, yeah, that was going to be my next one. Cinderella.
SPEAKER 06 :
I just said it. I said Cinderella.
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, you said Cinderella?
SPEAKER 06 :
I did.
SPEAKER 18 :
Twilight, Andy, your favorite.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, yes. I just can’t stop watching it. Go ahead, Tanner.
SPEAKER 20 :
Night at the Museum.
SPEAKER 06 :
Night at the Museum. Okay, how about this one? Willow. It was actually pretty good. Go ahead, Richard. You’re up. Jumanji. We did Jumanji.
SPEAKER 18 :
When did we do Jumanji? It’s one of the first ones. Tanner did it. Oh, you know, Tanner doesn’t count because he doesn’t watch these movies. That’s true. That’s a good point.
SPEAKER 06 :
Did we do Guardians of the Galaxy? No, we did not. Go ahead. Guardians of the Galaxy, great movie that Tanner has to watch so he can be a real man. Tanner, you’re up.
SPEAKER 20 :
Nanny McPhee.
SPEAKER 06 :
Nanny McPhee, that’s true. That’s a good one. Okay, isn’t it romantic? Trust me, it’s very funny. Richard, go. Princess Diaries, Andy. That’s a cute movie. Yeah, it is. Cute movie. Go ahead. Tanner watches it every week.
SPEAKER 20 :
This is my personal fantasy magic mic, so.
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, gosh. I’m not even going to go there. I’m not going to say a thing. Maleficent. Maleficent. It’s a good movie. Richard, go. Winnie the Pooh. Winnie the Pooh. Okay, yeah, that’s good. Go ahead, Tanner.
SPEAKER 20 :
Does Batman the Dark Knight count?
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, it does. And up next is Onward, the two brothers. Love it. Richard, go.
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, Andy, that was actually going to be the one I was going to take. Okay, this is another fun one.
SPEAKER 06 :
I know.
SPEAKER 18 :
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. You know that guy? Yeah, I know that guy. Go ahead, Tanner. Not your favorite, I know.
SPEAKER 06 :
No.
SPEAKER 20 :
Mad Max Fury Road.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, that actually works. Hans Christian Andersen. I’m going way back. Richard, go. Iron Giant. Yes, I love that movie. Tanner, go. The Jungle Book. Jungle Book, go. Men in Tights. Richard, go. Hobbit. The Hobbit, Andy. The Hobbit, good one. Tanner, go.
SPEAKER 20 :
Let’s go with The Watchers.
SPEAKER 06 :
And I’m going to go with Tuck Everlasting. Really quick, Richard, go, go, go.
SPEAKER 20 :
Life of Pi, Andy. Oh, what a movie.
SPEAKER 06 :
Tanner, go.
SPEAKER 20 :
Journey to the Center of the Earth.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s a good one. And I’m going to end with Beowulf. Beowulf. Richard, thanks for joining us, sir. We’ll see you next week. See you guys. Have a great weekend. See you next week. And Tanner, thank you so much for joining us today on Rush to Reason. Folks, that’s it for today. Hour 1 replays next. Hour 2 is at 6. Hour 1, you get to hear us tear into… Snow White. SPEAKER 1 :
I’m a rich guy.
