You have to be the worst pirate I’ve ever heard of.

So you’ve heard of me. Let’s start to honor Tanner. Let’s start with Pirates of the Caribbean. Here we go. about the Black Pearl.
SPEAKER 24 :
Gents, you ought to remember Captain Jack Sparrow. You are familiar with that ship, the Black Pearl. Spring me from this cell, I swear on pain of death. I shall take you to the Black Pearl and your bonnie lass. I may have deserved that. Do you think this wise boy? Crossing blades with a pirate. You threatened my swan.
SPEAKER 08 :
And they fight for a while. Let me tell you something. Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the biggest movies I’ve ever seen come through a theater where I was managing. It was crushing. So good. It was so good. The nice thing about it is it’s one of those you can see over and over.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, I watched all of them when they came out in theaters. I haven’t seen them since. So as soon as we looked up the C movies, I was like, I got to watch all of them.
SPEAKER 08 :
You got to rent them. You got to rent them again. You got to watch them again. I don’t know about all of them. I mean, some of the later ones get pretty weak.
SPEAKER 12 :
The first three, I just looked it up because I remember watching those movies. The first three, stellar. Phenomenal movies. I remember the last two really fell off. The first three have the same director.
SPEAKER 08 :
Right.
SPEAKER 12 :
What is it?
SPEAKER 08 :
Now, the third one did drag too long. They could have got a half hour easy.
SPEAKER 12 :
But it’s still cool looking. The last two had different directors, and I don’t think it landed as well. But yeah, first three movies, so good.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, Luke, now that I’ve done Pirates of the Caribbean, which means that I have the best movie at sea that anybody’s going to have, you’re going to fail. I mean, there’s no way you’re going to reach my level of greatness here. But go ahead and waste your time. Go ahead.
SPEAKER 12 :
All right. I can’t believe you’re talking that badly about Jaws. But, you know. I love Jaws. Ah, there we go. We got you.
SPEAKER 08 :
That’s a classic. You’re right. We got you. And let’s be honest. Jaws is more of a classic than Pirates of the Caribbean. I hate to say it. Just because everybody knows. Did they make a Jaws 2?

Yes. I think they made a couple. They weren’t good, though.

This time it’s personal. I can barely watch that movie. What was the joke Jaws movie they used in Back to the Future where they were advertising? I don’t know. He goes to the movie theater and it’s like Jaws 23 or something like that. It was pretty funny. It was pretty good. Okay, well, Jaws. Just kill the shark. Just get rid of it. Yeah, right?

That’s a good one. That’s a really good movie.

Anything with a shark. That’s attacking? I can’t do.

No, I didn’t see either of them because, frankly, I don’t like Aquaman as a character. I don’t think he’s good.

Jason Momoa, good. Aquaman, bad.

Okay, let’s be honest here. As the superheroes go, Aquaman’s a pretty boring one. I think we can all agree. But… That first movie, Aquaman, with Jason Momoa, it was funny. It had a really good pace. Trust me, it’s worth renting. Let’s get another perspective. John in Cheyenne is John. John, have you seen the first Aquaman?
SPEAKER 10 :
Oh, I thought it was a phenomenal movie. Yeah. It moved the whole time. There was no slow parts. Jason Momoa did a great job. So did the rest of the cast. Even Johnny Depp’s act, she played her role well in the first one.
SPEAKER 08 :
She did. She was a lot less scary in that movie.
SPEAKER 10 :
Ben in real life? Yeah. Just saying.
SPEAKER 08 :
Just saying. She’s a scary lady.
SPEAKER 10 :
Andy, you know me. I am going to be cheering for your Packers on Sunday, just to let you know. Well, thank you. I think they’re going to get smoked. I don’t know. I don’t think so. I think the Packers might be a little better than you think.

No, John, the big problem is in the lines. In the lines, Denver is so much better than we are on both sides of the line. Their defensive line is going to just race through our offensive line. Their offensive line is powerful. And we also lost our all-pro defensive tackle. So, no, I don’t see it. But, hey, you know what? Who knows? The ball can bounce your way.

The thing is, I think you’re going to get some young hotshot coordinator off one of the teams who’s a rising star because they’re going to look at two things. Number one, John, they’re going to look at all that young talent you got coming up on that team. And number two, they’re going to look at that market.

Well, yeah. And I disagreed with firing Dable. After they blew the lead to Denver, I was all for firing the defensive coordinator right then and there because there was no reason to blow that lead.

That was a crime. One other thing real quick. Yeah, go ahead. The Giants have blown eight fourth quarter leads this year. Are you serious? Yeah. How do you do that? One of my favorite movies of all time, Run Silent, Run Deep. Oh, yeah. Classic. Have either of the youngsters seen that one? Nada. No. That’s worth renting. It’s a World War II submarine movie. It’s got Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster and then a big cast of you know when you look at him oh I know him you know the Hollywood B actors you guys want to watch something that’s worth a watch it’s an hour and a half maybe Andy hour and 40 minutes yeah it’s not that long apparently Don Rickles is in it yes Don Rickles and oh a whole bunch of others you’ll recognize the faces I can’t remember all the names off the top of my head but one of my favorite movies of all time that’s one of those ones if it’s on I’m watching it no matter what And then the other one would be Master and Commander. I just thought that was a terrific movie.

Master and Commander. That was Russell Crowe, right?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, Russell Crowe and some other cast. And I just thought that was a really well-done movie, too. I had read a couple of those books that they were based on. So it was kind of, you know.

An interesting direction to take that movie. Could you imagine doing a 9-11 movie and then injecting a Ben Affleck romance into the middle of that? I don’t know. It feels kind of in bad taste.

It seems in bad taste. Have you ever been in a movie where you do bring a needle so you can stick it into your leg or something to take your mind off the greater pain?

It was awful. It was a movie that just, you know, if you live a terrible life, if you live a bad life, you will go to a place where you will watch Aquaman 2 forever on a loop.

Did you guys see this? Not yet. I am telling you, you got to rent U571. Now, I saw it in the theater. We had a great sound system. The depth charges seen was unbelievable. I mean, just going off on all sides of you and just crushing your ship like a tin can. It was unbelievable. U-571, it stars Matthew McConaughey. Great guy, right? Yeah. Always does a great job. Does some good stuff. Oh, yeah, yeah. He’s a sure thing, and I’ll tell you what. He was great. I loved it. So U-571, Luke, you’re up.

All right. Well, another movie with depth charges, arguably far more tense and scary than what you just said by a mile. And that’s Finding Nemo. I knew you were going to say that. That’s Finding Nemo.

But doesn’t Finding Nemo, doesn’t it just take you back to when Pixar was red hot?

Yeah, when they were doing some good movies.

Everything was good. Oh, my gosh. Everything they touched was fantastic. Gold. Gold. And now you look at their recent stuff and you look at compared to, and it’s not just, you know, the agenda. Throw that aside. It’s the pace. Right? The pacing of their later stuff, it just drags. It’s boring. The side characters are never funny anymore. Think about in Finding Nemo, all the little side characters. Like when they were in the aquarium.
SPEAKER 11 :
Right. Oh, yeah. In the dentist’s office.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, yeah, exactly. You know, you’re in here this long, it does something to you. You got the fish trying to grab at the bubbles. My bubbles, my bubbles.
SPEAKER 12 :
Also, the style, too, the direction they’ve changed. It’s like all the characters are, I don’t know, they look off. It’s just not a good look.
SPEAKER 08 :
No, they’re not funny. They’re not fast. They’re not that entertaining. They’re not good. Pixar has lost it. And when I think back on things like Finding Nemo, it just makes me sad about today’s Pixar’s. It really does. Tanner, you’re up.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. They’re fighting smart sharks. So, yeah, a scientist has done a real bright thing. They’ve put human brain cells into sharks and multiplied them.

It’s like Palantir.

Yeah. So now the sharks are smart and they’re being hunted by these smart sharks. And I know, folks, I know that sounds too sciency and stupid and silly. I’m telling you what. What matters is this had excellent action. It had a great pulsating pace. It was really good. It had excellent dialogue and it had Samuel Jackson. And here he is at one key moment.

And how quick they can get that way. Well, they can get a whole lot worse. So we’re not going to fight anymore. We’re going to pull together and we’re going to find a way to get out of here. First, we’re going to seal off this.

Oh, so that didn’t go well. So, you know.

It was a great scene. I think it’s a shocking scene.

It’s so much funnier because it’s like you expect Samuel L. Jackson to be making the big speech.
