HR3 Rush To Reason September 23, 2024 by John Rush
This is Rush To Reason.
You are gonna shut your damn yapper and listen for a change, because I got you begged, sweetheart. You want to take the easy way out because you’re scared. And you’re scared because if you try and fail, there’s only view to blood.
Let me break this down for you.
Life is scary. Get used to it. There are no magical fixes.
With your host, John Rush.
My advice to you is to do what your parents did.
Get a job first.
You haven’t made everybody equal. You’ve made them the same and there’s a big difference.
Let me tell you why you’re here.
You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it.
You felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world.
You don’t know what it is, but it’s there.
It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
Are you crazy?
Am I, or am I so sane that you just blew your mind?
It’s Rush To Reason, with your host, John Rush. Presented by Hi5 Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
All right, hour three. Welcome back, Rush To Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, Klz560. Thanks for joining us today.
Time for our Monday Mortgage Minute. Kurt Rogers with us now. Kurt, how are you, sir?
I’m doing fine, John. How are you?
I’m great. Great weekend. We had some great ball games that we won.
Richard and I were just talking about a moment ago, so it was a good weekend. Talk to us about, and we touched on this a little bit last Thursday, although we didn’t get into great detail, how are the NRA, NAR, let me talk correctly, NAR changes going and who’s getting affected the most?
The person that, the buyers that I think are going to be affected the most are basically first-time home buyers because normally they don’t have 20% down. Right. So it’s going to be tougher for them to figure out how to get compensation to the buyer’s agent.
Okay.
Now there’s, I think there’s several programs out there and the lenders are coming out with a lot more down payment assistant programs and you’re going to need them to help make that work. Many of the people that are buying first-time home buyers, I’ve talked with several selling agents and they’re going to make sure that they’re going to be able to get the seller to contribute something to help them out to get in the home. Otherwise they won’t be able to get the price that they necessarily want.
So those are some of the things that we’re starting to see changes to.
And really quick for people maybe that haven’t heard, I mean you and I have talked about this a lot, but maybe they haven’t really delved into this much, haven’t talked about it much. The reality is the buyer-broker agreement is now all done on the front side and there’s no necessarily standard that the seller is going to pay the buyer agent anything, correct?
No, that’s not, and trying to get the education out to first-time home buyers, this is a completely different process, so you need to find agents that are willing to negotiate. You and I have talked about this. I have a team of agents now that are designed to help folks that want to buy, that need some concessions given, some compensation concessions given, and these agents are willing to do that to help to get the first-time home buyers into the homes.
So there’s some things moving in that direction, so it’s going to help them, but it’s still a problem.
Yeah, and there’s still a lot of, I think, and we talked about this last week, Kurt, a lot of confusion, a lot of folks trying to work around this, and I think things are being done, frankly, in the wrong way. And that’s one of those things where, frankly, if you aren’t sure how this all should be working, I’ll be honest, folks, call Kurt. He can walk you through all of this, what should be working, what shouldn’t, and as you said a moment ago, Kurt, you’ve got resources along those lines.
Yeah, I’ve put a team together with agents that says, you know, that they understand the system and they’ll be able to work. There are ways that I can do creative lending to help get the buyer’s agent compensated that don’t come out of the down payment. There’s different things that I can do to make that work.
But you need to have somebody and do that prior to finding an agent, because an agent, like you said, may come up with programs that aren’t necessarily above board and may put you in more debt in another way. And that’s not necessarily what the DOG wants.
There you go, exactly. All right, tomorrow Haystack Health Radio, you take that over every Tuesday for that hour between noon and 1. What are you guys doing tomorrow?
Back by popular demand is my CertiPro painter. He’s just so busy and got some great specials going on.
Awesome. Kurt, I appreciate it very much. As always, thanks for joining us.
Thanks John, take care.

All right, we are back. Again, thanks for listening to us. We appreciate it very much.
Rush To Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, Klz560. Our special guest joining us now, and he’s been with us before, so welcome back. Vinny Vernuccio, how are you, sir?
Hey, pretty good. Thanks again for having me on.
No, I appreciate it. Thanks for joining us. You are co-founder and president of the Institute for the American Worker.
And we saw some startling stats, I guess I should say. Vinny, coming out of the unions when it comes to who they’re going to vote for.
We did. So the Teamsters did an internal poll, and it’s almost 60% said that they would prefer former President Trump over Vice President Harris. And I don’t want to defeat the punchline here, but the Teamsters then had a chance to make an endorsement.
And guess what they did? I can only imagine.
Nothing.
So, almost 60% said they would endorse.
Yeah, because they’re definitely not going to endorse Trump, correct?
Well here’s their reasoning. The press release they set out said that they couldn’t endorse Harris because she didn’t get a majority, but they couldn’t endorse Trump because he didn’t get universal support. Now that sounds like a double standard to me.
They didn’t get universal support yet, 60% of them said that they would. That seems to me like 60% is a majority.
Almost 60%, it was 58-59%.
Yeah, I saw the stats. I mean, not far under, still, overwhelmingly over what you would consider to be a majority, because 51% would be a majority.
Exactly, and in the past, poll after poll shows that a third to 40% of union households typically vote Republican, except unions overwhelmingly endorse and give money and propose to Democrats. But right now, it’s flipped, so by their own rationale, they should be helping President Trump, but of course, they’re not.
This is interesting because, like you say, typically speaking, the workers for that individual where the admin side of it is more for the other side of the aisle because, bottom line, these guys know exactly at the end of the day who’s going to help them with inflation, who’s going to help them buy their next home, who’s going to help them buy their next car, interest rate-wise, I mean. I mean, these guys, Vinnie, aren’t stupid. They understand how all these things work.
They know that in today’s world, despite what the media and even some on the left would say, compounded inflation is 25% plus, and these guys know that.
That’s right. And I mean, even you look at labor issues, you know, the things that Sean O’Brien, the president of the Teamsters, the things that he was railing against when he spoke to the RNC, when you look at polling numbers for union membership, they actually support the things. They support things like secret ballot election to bring a union in, the rights of independent workers to work for themselves, protecting small business of the franchise industry.
So we’ve seen polls after polls, and there really is a dichotomy between what union leadership supports and their members.
Well, do you feel like we’ve entered into a, because I’ve said this for years, and I’m an employer, I’ve been self-employed for a very, very long time, Vinnie, since I was in my early 20s, and reality is I feel like we’ve gotten to a point to where these folks know that at the end of the day, the majority of their union dues are going to support union things like politicians and the like. At the end of the day, the law of the land is enough to handle what they need in the workplace. At the end of the day, they know literally, and I’m not exaggerating when I say this, they know literally that their union dues are doing nothing but stuffing and lining the pockets of the union and politicians.
I think unions can actually play a big role, but they have to give up the government-granted crutches. You’re right, because of minimum wage, because of overtime, because of OSHA. You know, there’s a lot of things that unions said they were founded for.
Vinnie, we can keep going, EEOC, on down the line we go. The reality is, to your point, a lot of what the unions were founded on, that stuff doesn’t exist anymore. The law of the land is there anyways.
That’s right. Well, let’s not get into the EEOC, because the National Labor Relations Board is saying that unions can violate workplace harassment standards, as long as they’re advocating for union interests. The chair, lauren McFerrin, who is now up for reappointment, is one of the people spearheading ZACT.
We actually have a study, Battle of the Sevens, on our website that details how labor rights, which is section seven of the NLRA, is in conflict now with title seven, which prevents workplace harassment in the Civil Rights Act.
Yeah. Unreal. Unreal.
I’m glad you guys are watching all that, by the way, because that’s what you guys do on a regular basis. In fact, talk about that for a moment, Vinny, on what you guys actually do.
Absolutely. So our website, I, the number four, aw.org, i4aw.org. I would encourage all your listeners to go there.
You know, we monitor Congress, we monitor the administration, and we are a one stop shop for everything that is, you know, private sector and federal labor policy issues. And we break down, breaking news of the day, we break down labor legislation that’s coming through Congress, both the good and the bad. And we also keep a guy on the Biden administration and have a really handy flow chart on our website that is monitoring all the bad regulations that we’re seeing out of Washington that are trying to keep workers and job creators down.
Yeah, and ultimately, that’s what a lot of this is about. Now, I will say that I think the majority of voters vote with their wallet and maybe vote on some social issues and so on. And some of what you just said, they may not concern themselves with, although if they were smart, they would.
That’s right, and if they want to get smart, either number 4aw.org, that is the website. We monitor those regulations. We also have labor news today, which essentially, if you remember the Drudge Report, it’s the Drudge Report for labor news.
You actually can sign up for a daily digest of all the big labor stories on both sides of the aisle that comes in every morning. So if you really want to get more on labor policy issues, that labor news today is a great resource.
And again, Vinnie, at the end of the day, kind of back to the worker and what they see, and I do believe these individuals see this, they know that at the end of the day, a vibrant economy, lower interest rates, less inflation, they know at the end of the day, that’s what promotes the goods that they’re making typically, because most of these folks are in shops that are making these things, UAW, etc. We know how that works. And at the end of the day, they’ve got to understand, and I believe they do, I think the survey says that it does, they understand that a vibrant economy helps them at the end of the day.
That is absolutely correct, and that’s why you see even surveys among union members show that they support all those things that we talked about, specifically the Employee Rights Act, the federal legislation that would protect those secret ballot and unionization elections, would protect the dependent contractors, would protect the franchise industry, would protect workers in their choice whether or not to support union politics. So it is really interesting when you do break that down, and then you see the difference between that and, for instance, Sean O’Brien speaking at the RSC, where he backed the legislation called the PRO Act, the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, that essentially does the opposite of all of that and also gets rid of right to work. I know you know what right to work is.
It simply means union can’t get a worker fired for not paying them.
I could also see where these guys are tired of the union thuggery that goes on. It’s why they like the secret ballot end of things and so on. And I don’t think I’m wrong in saying that Vinny, nobody wants to be called out on something they just voted for, correct?
That’s absolutely correct. I mean, there’s a reason why, the election that’s coming up in November, yes, you can vote absentee, you can vote by bail, but at the end of the day, you’re still having a private vote. And for the most part, that’s what union members and potential union members across the country should have.
If they want to organize, sure, let them organize, let it be grassroots, but let them have a private vote, not what the unions are consistently pushing for, which is car check, which like you said, can lead to intimidation, deception, or at the very worst, depriving workers of needed information for their choice.
Yeah, again, I’m like you, Vinny. I mean, I’m for free choice. If somebody wants to do it, more power to them.
The problem that I’ve seen happen more and more often is it’s not necessarily the workers that get this started. It’s the unions through the back door. They come in, they want to get something started.
They antagonize, they get things kind of ginned up. At the end of the day, they get some votes going. They do that, as you just said a moment ago, car check and really open voting at the end of the day, which is intimidation, no matter how you look at it.
I mean, it would be like having every one of our ballots that we cast in this upcoming election made public so everybody out there knows how you vote. That’s just not the right way to do it, period.
Exactly. Imagine not hearing from either candidate and just one comes up, she says, hey, sign this, and then that’s your vote. There you go.
That’s essentially what car check is.
There you go. Yeah, and again, I think at the end of the day, correct me if I’m wrong, Vinnie, but the unions sell their members far too short and they think they’re a lot dumber than they are and they’re not dumb at all.
No, they’re not. And once again, going back to the polling, poll after poll shows that union members, I think a lot of them are starting to realize the difference between what is in their best interest and what is in the union leadership best interest. And a lot of times, that does not align.
Frankly, like I said, unions can do a lot of good, but they have to adapt. They have to be more voluntary. They have to give up a lot of the compulsion, the monopoly that encapsulates current labor policy.
Vinnie, you’re right. It’s funny. Last hour, I was talking about Kmart, the fact that they’re basically done.
They’ve got one store left, I believe in Miami. I was reading a NURSE article earlier and talking about how a lot of these big companies, Kodak back in the day that owned the film industry, they didn’t adapt to the times. They didn’t change.
They didn’t do the things necessary to know where their market was and what they needed to do with their customer. I feel the unions are exactly the same way, Vinnie. The customer is the worker in this case.
They’ve lost touch with the customer, i.e. the worker. And if they don’t change with the times, I’ll give you a prediction, they won’t exist down the road.
That’s right, but there is some legislation, like the Employee Rights Act, we just talked about in Congress, that is looking to do that. There’s other legislation, you were talking about the unions, it’s to keep a lot of these organizing. Well, there’s a thing called SALTS, where paid union organizers come in and they don’t tell their coworkers that they’re actually being paid by the union.
In fact, they don’t even tell their employer that they’re getting a job to be paid by the union to organize. So there is the SALTS Act by Representative Owens, actually your neighbor over there in Utah, that would make sure that those SALTS are disclosed. Basically, the exact same management have to disclose that they hire somebody to talk to workers, so should unions.
And the other thing that brings more democracy to the workplace, Representative Wahlberg just introduced a bill that would require a two-thirds quorum of everyone voting because the union is gonna get a monopoly. They should have that quorum of workers to vote for them in a secret ballot election before they can be given those privileges of representing all those workers. And that’s the Worker Enfranchisement Act by Representative Wahlberg.
Awesome. Vinnie, you’re always bringing a lot of great information. You’re welcome anytime.
Best of luck to you. And one last time, how do folks find you?
Sure. I the number 4aw.org, I-4-A-W, always fun, thanks for having me on.

Vinnie, Vern, I can’t say this correctly, Vernertio. I always struggle with his last name. I don’t know why it’s pretty easy.

Now, back to Rush To Reason, presented by High Five Plumbing Heating and Cooling, where every call ends with a high five.
All right, we are back, Rush To Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, Klz560. All right, an opinion piece that was out in the Caller to Son, I believe it was either yesterday or today, today, early today, by the way. Trish Zornio, make sure I say the last name correctly, Z-O-R-N-I-O, Trish Zornio.
And I talked about Trish on a pretty routine basis, and while Trish might be a very nice lady, she is clueless when it comes to how things in this country work, how day-to-day things work. I’ve talked about many things that she’s written about, from EVs to today’s article she wrote is about, or opinion piece, I should say, is about gun violence. She wrote one recently that I didn’t get a chance to talk about, but she did a follow-up piece on gun violence.
And basically, she’s, in this particular opinion piece, she is justifying the last piece she wrote about how we can blame Republicans for gun violence. So it’s titled, It’s Fair to Blame Republicans for Gun Violence, and Here’s Why. Decades of fetishizing?
I don’t know if that’s even a real world. Real, real world. Is that a real word, Charlie?
Make something a fetish? OK, so basically, fetishing over firearms is what she says, and refusing to enact basic gun safety is a Republican theme, but not so for Democrats. Well, by the way, Trish, you should read the latest FBI stats on gun violence, and you will see that while the amount of guns in the country has increased exponentially, you’ll also find that gun violence is down.
So, your opinion piece, by the way, is completely off, because you could almost say that having a gun fetish has actually lowered crime in the United States of America. I guess you haven’t read the FBI stats of late, though. So she says, last week, I authored a column about why Coloradans should expect high rates of gun violence to continue.
I also suggest that Republicans were disproportionately responsible for this outcome. By the way, nothing could be farther from the truth, because, as I’ve said many, many times, violence of any kind has nothing to do with the item used, whether that be gun, knife, car, poison. I can go down the list.
Strangulation. The reality is, that’s an individual and their heart condition problem, not a gun problem. So, this has nothing to do with what side of the aisle you come from when it comes to those things, because it’s a heart condition.
Now, I will say that because your side, because Trish, you’re a liberal, because your side has no value of life, you don’t value life, that’s proven over and over again, because you don’t value life, that’s really where this problem starts. You will never admit that, because you’re going to blame it on the item, not the root cause. So she goes on to say, as you might expect, public response fell mostly along party lines.
Many Coloradans thanked me, but Republicans were a bit mad. How dare I suggest they’re the problem when Democrats have been at the helm of Colorado politics for years. Which, by the way, that’s true, they have been.
Also, if the Democrats’ policies on gun safety worked, then gun violence would stop, so they said. And I would agree with that statement. If everything they did gun control-wise actually worked, why hasn’t it?
because they don’t work. A magazine limit does nothing. Gun control does nothing.
Literally, gun control is people control, at the end of the day, and you’re not going to stop a criminal from owning a gun. If they want one, they’ll get one. So, countless responses to this effect came in with one anonymous email to the Colorado Suns summing it up as Zorino, or Zornio, I can never get our name right.
Zornio is right by, or to be concerned about the staggering rise in violent crime across the state over the past decade, but she’s off target by blaming Republicans for the increased danger that Coloradans are facing. Democrats are in the driver’s seat in Colorado, and they’re the ones leading the state off a cliff when it comes to crime and public safety. She says, nope, here’s why.
Republicans are correct that Democrats have been in Colorado’s supermajority for a handful of years now. They’re also correct that during that time, Democrats have introduced a number of gun safety regulations. In the 2024 legislative session alone, Democrats passed eight new gun laws.
These included new permit requirements for gun sellers, new restrictions on concealed carry laws, bans on guns at schools, voting booths, and so on. But Republicans are dead wrong if they think that the short tenure of Democrat leadership would immediately reverse all gun violence after decades of laxity on guns, thanks to the NRA-backed Republican Party. That’s absurd.
Even still, gun violence is at least starting to level off, albeit at high levels. So perhaps all those brand spanking new laws are at least starting to take effect. After all, change doesn’t happen overnight.
And again, Trish, you’re just completely off base, completely off base. Those gun laws and now or in the future will do nothing to curb violence. Look at some of the highest gun control areas in the nation, and they have some of the highest violence with guns, period.
Period. And you can’t deny that. You can go look at the statistics and find the information that I’m talking about, but evidently you’ve chosen not to.
She says, but riddle me this. What do you think is more effective at reducing gun violence, bragging about big guns like Republicans do? Which by the way, I don’t know of any Republican running around bragging about big guns.
I’m not sure what she’s stating on that. I mean, I’m a gun-toting Republican. I love the Second Amendment.
But you guys don’t ever hear me running around talking about even specific types of guns that people should own. I leave that up to an individual, even on Ready Radio, where we talk about preparedness. And I’ve even done segments on what guns to own in the time that things might hit the fan.
I don’t get into specifics. And I don’t talk about big guns. I talk about sensibly what you might want to own, but at the end of the day, that choice is yours, just like driving a particular car is your choice.
And what you may like may not be what I like. And that’s okay. At the end of the day, as long as it does what you need it to do, who cares?
In the case of end times, as long as it keeps you safe and protected, who cares? And last but not least Trish, something that all of us, well, I should say most of us on the Republican side believe in, not all, but most believe in, is the Second Amendment owning guns is not so we can defend ourselves against the likes of you or would be assailants, it’s to protect ourselves against the government. That’s what the Second Amendment is for.
It’s not so I can protect my home from would be intruders. That’s part of it. But it’s really designed to protect me from a tyrannical government.
So, Trish, let’s make sure that we’re on the same page here, because I don’t know of anybody that runs around talking about big guns. So she goes on to say that, just look at Representative lauren Boebert. And you guys all know I’m not lauren’s biggest fan.
I will do everything possible to get her elected, but I’m not her biggest fan. I’ve talked about her plenty in the past. But in this case, I’m going to defend her.
She’s got the ability to talk about guns and do whatever she wants to when it comes to that. She doesn’t give a flying saucer about gun safety. Now, again, I will defend lauren here.
Untrue statement. Untrue statement. So this particular writer, and again, I wish she was on here talking to me right now, but Trish, you’re just flat dead wrong.
You don’t know lauren’s heart when it comes to gun safety. In fact, I would tell you flat out that I’ve seen lauren enough and have heard her talk enough that she’s all about gun safety. She doesn’t want anybody dying because of lack of gun safety.
Not at all. In fact, all Republicans and Conservatives that I know that are Pro 2A are all about gun safety. In fact, we’ve talked many times on this program that I don’t know that there’s ever been a single instance of a single concealed weapons holder, card holder, going on some sort of a shooting spree.
It doesn’t happen, folks. The mentality isn’t there. It just doesn’t work that way.
So Trish, again, one of the articles that I continue… I’m always talking about you in light of your opinion pieces because you’re just dead wrong. In this case, you’re definitely dead wrong.
She goes on to say if it were up to her, all Americans would be strapping loaded pistols to their hip and letting their kids play with rifles. That’s not true. That’s not what lauren believes in.
I can speak for lauren in this case. She wants each person to have their own choice. If you want a gun, you should be able to go buy one.
That’s your Second Amendment right. If you choose to be somebody that doesn’t, that’s fine as well. I know lauren well enough, and I feel like I can speak for her in this particular case that that’s not how she feels.
And this is something where Trish is putting words in her mouth. Which is typically what lefties do. They put words in your mouth even though they’re not true.
She goes on to say, hell, she’s so gun happy, I wouldn’t put a pastor to challenge someone to an actual duel. Now, that is just outlandish. Again, she is painting lauren to be something that frankly, lauren’s not.
And like I said, I’m not lauren’s biggest defender at all times. You guys all know me, but in this case, I will defend her to the nth degree. because, Trish, you’re wrong.
You’re flat out wrong. Any of us, by the way, myself included, that are gun-loving, gun-toting individuals, which I am, I firmly believe in gun safety. In fact, I was taught at a very early age all of the safety things regarding guns.
I didn’t even have to go to a class. My dad was instilling that in us at a very early age. I learned to shoot at, and I’m not exaggerating when I say this, I couldn’t have been more than six, seven years of age learning how to shoot.
Now, my dad was an extremely wise individual, and we started with things like BB guns, pellet guns, before we actually shot anything that was, you know, of a cartridge, you know, a regular rifle, pistol. No, we learned first how to shoot BB guns, pellet guns. It’s where you start a child.
My dad knew that, and that’s where we started. You know, gun safety starts even with those. How do you handle it?
Where do you point it? Et cetera, et cetera. All the different things that you talk about when it comes to gun safety.
Is the gun loaded? Is it not? All these things.
You know, do you check it first? Yes, every single time a gun is handed to you, do you check it? I just have that habit.
Anytime somebody hands me something, even though I know it’s most likely unloaded, you treat it like it’s loaded. Number one rule of gun safety, the gun’s always loaded. These are things I was taught at age five, six years, and I’m not exaggerating.
So despite what Trish is saying here, I think I speak for all conservatives that are pro-Second Amendment, we believe fully in gun safety, fully. We would never do anything to endanger the lives of someone else with a gun, intentionally, and frankly, even accidentally, because we’re all taught how to handle things, and that gun is always loaded no matter what. So don’t ever act like it’s not.
Even when you know it’s not, it is. And handle it as such. Never point at anybody.
Always downrange. You know, always keep the barrel up, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. I mean, there’s all sorts of things you go through when it comes to gun safety, and we’re taught that at an early age.
And anybody that’s been around guns for any length of time knows exactly what I’m talking about. And I’ve never met a conservative yet that looks at it any differently than what I’m saying. Does that mean all conservatives that own guns are perfect?
Of course not. But I will say this, and the stats play this out, it’s rare. It’s rare to find a conservative in a mass shooting.
It’s rare. You know, do accidents happen? You know, can you find a conservative that accidentally is involved in a hunting accident or something along those lines?
Yes, those things are going to happen, just like people can be involved in car accidents. It’s called an accident for a reason. It’s an accident.
It wasn’t done intentionally. It wasn’t done on purpose. Here’s the problem, though, folks.
Folks like Trish, she expects everybody on the right to be perfect. They never have a mess up. If they’re a gun-owning, Second Amendment-believing individual, they can never, ever, ever have an accident because then it proves her point that no one should own guns.
because that’s what Trish wants. Ultimately, this whole article is about how no one should own a gun. They should just be wiped off the planet.
If we didn’t have any guns, all deaths would end. We wouldn’t have any more deaths. Murders would end, in her mind.
And literally, it’s in her mind because that’s not true. People killed each other long before guns were ever invented. In fact, in fact, there were more deaths prior to now with us having readily available guns in the United States of America.
Go back and look at some of the medieval days and how many people were, you know, died at the hands of swords and rocks and all sorts of things that were used as weapons back in the day. Slingshots, etc. Reality is people die because of, again, a heart condition and it has nothing to do with the weapon itself.
But according to Trish, we Republicans are to blame because of quote unquote gun violence, even though the vast majority of gun violence is not committed by conservatives. So Trish, I would love you to write an article about that. If you’re listening, I know you’re not, but I would love to have you write an article about how is it that even though conservatives promote the Second Amendment and gun ownership, because we do, I do.
How is it then that most violent crimes with a gun are committed by non-conservatives? Trish, I would love you to answer that for me. You make it sound like if we just remove guns from the marketplace, all violence ends.
That’s not true. Not true. Now, am I against a bad person owning a gun?
Of course. Of course I am. Does that mean that I personally feel like everyone should be tested before they own one?
No, absolutely not. No, I’m not. I’m not for that.
And it’s been proven over and over again that even universal background checks, all these sorts of things, they don’t work anyways. You know, Joe and I from Jersey have talked many, many times. If you as a criminal really want a gun, are you going to a gun store to buy it?
No, you’re not. Are you going on the streets to buy it?
Yes.
Can you? Yes. Do you need to go to the store and do your three day background check here in Colorado and wait to get a gun?
No, you don’t. Now, do some people go through that process and still commit crimes? Yes.
Are they conservatives? No. By and large, no, they’re not.
In fact, 99% of them are not conservative. And it’s proven over and over and over again. So Trish, you’re 1000% wrong in your thought process.
And I just proved why. So she goes on to say, this is where Republicans went wrong. She talks about, you know, lauren Boebert and her Christmas card and, you know, the guns in the card and so on.
Nonsense, by the way, on her part. This is where Republicans went wrong. It’s not just that they fought against gun safety policy at the NRA’s behest.
That’s bad enough. It’s that over the years, they’ve narrated deadly weapons into political play toys. No, we actually haven’t.
She says, when was the last time you heard a far right Republican talk about how to responsibly own and care for a gun while they were in office? They do that all the time, actually, Trish. You hear that constantly.
I don’t know where you’ve been, Trish, but they talk about it a lot. Where are the Republican ads showing that locked up gun cabinets and safety checks is a part of the Second Amendment discussions? Actually, those ads run.
I see them. They’re out there. I don’t see the ads themselves because I don’t watch TV, but I see ads along these lines that, yes, be responsible, make sure you’re keeping things stored correctly, so on and so forth.

Here’s why you need personal injury attorney Kevin Flesch on your side. He understands the way the jury thinks. In the context of a personal injury case, you’ve been hurt by someone else’s negligence.
The idea is that you’re going to try to recover so that you can get back to where you were just prior to that incident occurring. What that really means from a jurist perspective is that you’re going to be asking them to award you money. So when we talk about fairness, we’re talking about six people that you don’t know.
Those six people view the evidence and make a unanimous decision that will decide what the fair value is. When you’re the one who’s hurt, you have a good idea of what you think it’s worth. The question is, can you persuade those other individuals whom you don’t know and were witnesses to believe that’s what the case is worth?

Back to Rush To Reason.
Alright, Rush To Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, Klz560. Again, talking about an opinion piece in the Colorado Sun that was written by Trish Zornio, C-O-R-N-I-O. I think I’m saying that correctly.
I’ve never met Trish. And I don’t know Trish personally. I read some of the things that she writes at times.
And I will say that occasionally, blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally. She’ll actually write a decent opinion piece from time to time. Although these last two, talking about gun control and gun safety and the fact that Republicans don’t care about gun safety and that we deserve the disproportionate blame for gun violence, it’s just outlandish.
It’s outlandish that anybody would be this nutty, this insane to think so. I mean, this person, Trish, believes in the things that she’s writing or she wouldn’t be writing them, which means she’s a nutcase. I mean, this is ridiculous.
Her belief that all gun violence can be put upon Republicans, even though liberals, I’ll just say it straight up, liberals are the ones causing the violence, I’m confused. You know, Andy talked about it the other day. If for some reason we lose the election, will we burn down cities?
Will we shoot people? Will we go crazy? No, we won’t.
We’ll just go about our daily lives the next day. We won’t be happy, but we’re not going to burn down a city. On the same token, if we win and the other side loses, guaranteed they’ll be burning down cities.
They did the last time, they’ll do it this time as well. So I’m confused, Trish. If what I just said is true, and it is, I’m not lying about that, it is true.
How is it that we’re to blame for violence, when we’re not committing violence? You can typically look at the majority of violent acts that are done, and I’m not saying the right is perfect, because we have issues just like anyone else. But how is it that by and large, most violent crimes are done by non-conservatives?
In a lot of that, Trish comes down to the mental sides of things. Let me explain. I, as a conservative, I can’t speak for all, but I’ll tell you how I look at things.
I want to be left alone. I just want to live my life. I realize that we have to have certain laws for certain things, but by and large, we have far too many.
Just leave me alone. Let me live my life. I was raised to respect others, to value life, all life, by the way, even life in the womb.
That’s why I don’t believe in abortion. That’s why I don’t believe, especially in late-term abortion. I don’t believe in abortion, period, but especially late-term abortion, which I’m sure, Trish, you do.
So at the end of the day, I actually value life, Trish, more than you do. And yet I’m a gun-toting, Second Amendment-loving American. I’m not out shooting anybody.
I teach everyone that I’ve ever been around, even if I’ve taken somebody that’s a novice to the range for the very first time. I’m very big on gun safety. Now, one thing she talks about in this particular article, which I might agree with her slightly on, is we on our side are kind of known for doing outlandish videos of blowing things up and so on and so forth.
Now, that’s not every one. There will be some select few that do that. And I personally, I’m not a fan of that.
I don’t think that helps our side out when those things are done. Now, am I one that will watch YouTube videos of guys shooting and watch how they do things? And do I follow some of those guys?
And I am enamored at how good a shot some of these guys are. Absolutely, and they’re not the ones I’m talking about. Yes, there is some videos where guys just go blow stuff up.
Now, it’s kind of cool. It’s why people watch movies to see things blown up. It’s why people go to car races at times.
They want to see a crash. It’s why they go to football games. They like to see people get hit.
I mean, there’s something about that that people enjoy. So it is entertainment. Is it entertainment I would participate in in film?
No, it’s just not me. I mean, I was taught even by my dad that, you know, you didn’t even go to the, you know, off chance you found some area in the National Park where there was some washing machine, people were shooting. We were not allowed to.
That’s not how my dad taught us. We were not allowed to do those things. You didn’t shoot at street signs, stop signs, things like that.
My dad would never allow us to do those things. We were not raised that way. If you went to shoot, you did it properly.
And even if you were out in the woods doing it, where’s your backstop? Is there anybody going to be behind you? What are you shooting at?
And no, you don’t even shoot at trees, because trees can be damaged by shooting at them. My dad was really big on that. He taught us how to do things correctly.
You set up the proper target and so on and so forth. And we were not allowed to just go out and shoot old cars and junk that might be left by the side of the road. That’s not how I was raised.
You couldn’t do those things. And I still believe in that. So Trish, some of the things that you’re stating is way off base because you’re painting a lot of people to be in that picture that doesn’t exist.
Not for me. It exists for some, but not for me. You’re generalizing and saying all Republicans and all conservatives feel this way.
No, we don’t, actually. And I’ll call those things out when I see them. But we don’t all look at it that way.
In fact, I will tell you right now, by and large, I would say, I’ll go on a limb, the majority of my listeners look at it exactly the same way I do. So Trish, you’re completely wrong. You’re completely out there.
You’ve gone down a path you shouldn’t have. And it really degrades from your journalism, by the way, when you do these things, because you’re doing things that aren’t cool. I’ll leave it at that.

Back to Rush To Reason.
All right, that’s going to be it for today, guys. Have a fabulous rest of your evening. Be safe out there.
The sun’s setting a little sooner each night because our daylight days are getting shorter. Andy and I tomorrow, we’re going to talk about some of the upcoming amendments and propositions, things that will be on the ballot. I got my blue book today, by the way, sort of a reminder of that, and we’ll get into some of those tomorrow.
Probably won’t cover all of them, but I’ll kind of start digging into some of those, so some of you know what to vote on as we get closer to November. Have a great night. Rush To Reason, Denver’s Afternoon Rush, Klz560.
