SPEAKER 05 :
Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. It’s Friday, January 31st, 2025. I’m Eric Hansen. This week, Trump considers ditching income tax, Vance suggests dumping our old immigration policies, and the CIA drops a confirmation we already knew. First, we turn to Washington, D.C., the scene of a tragic midair collision at the Reagan Airport.
SPEAKER 09 :
This kind of a disaster is something that will leave a scar in our collective consciousness for a long time. Heartbreaking stories of U.S. and Russian figure skaters who were on board the American Airlines Flight 5342. A video that I will not play of a poor young husband anxiously awaiting word about his wife who was texting him from that plane minutes before the collision. And he was praying that they would rescue her from the frigid waters of the Potomac. I don’t like to exploit people’s misery. I don’t want to try to capitalize on a moment in time And I’ve told my team no video on Salem News Channel during my talk show that shows that impact. Because that’s the moment that 67 souls perished. Let’s take you to Washington, D.C., the incoming administration already facing some wretched, ghoulish criticism. How anybody could try to blame Trump for this? is just one more indicator of how sick and twisted and deranged the Trump haters have become. I don’t even like to give them any oxygen or any attention, but they’re out there. People blaming Trump. People blaming Pete Hegseth, the new defense secretary. People blaming the new transportation secretary, Sean Duffy. It’s almost… impossible to believe that people could sink that low. And I hope that every single one of them are shamed and shunned. I mean, they obviously should be ignored, but if they work in a media profession, like the goofy journalist from Nashville who took to social media to attack the Trump administration. He is a well-known anti-conservative Nashville TV reporter, and he did the same thing, posting stuff about blaming Trump and the incoming administration. He quickly deleted it and sort of apologized. That guy shouldn’t appear on the airwaves ever again. What TV station, what reputable television station would employ such a ghoul, such a jerk? There’s been some monstrous reactions. How do you politicize such an awful event? There’s something that’s gone wrong with you. So let’s take you to Washington. Here’s Pete Hegseth moments ago addressing the nation from his desk in the Defense Department.
SPEAKER 07 :
This morning, I just got off the phone with the SELFCOM commander and the chairman, the Joint Chiefs, talking about our efforts at Guantanamo Bay. That is ongoing. We’re leaning forward on supporting the president’s directive to make sure that we have a location for violent criminal illegals as they are deported out of the country. No one’s going to wait on the Defense Department, and we’re working that in real time. But I also wanted to give an update on the tragedy that happened last night here in Washington, D.C., and provide a little bit more information as we are actively working to investigate and understand what occurred and why. At about 8.48 last night, a UH-60 assigned to the U.S. Army Aviation Brigade in the military district of Washington, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, collided tragically with a civilian airliner. The army unit involved was Bravo Company 12th Aviation Battalion at Fort Belvoir. It was an annual proficiency training flight. And when we look at the crew, and not all can have been notified, so we’re going to withhold ranks and names at this point. We do know on our side who was involved. It was a fairly experienced crew, and it was doing a required annual night evaluation. They did have night vision goggles. The 12th Aviation Battalion, as of now, has granted a 48-hour operational pause on contingency missions as what happened is reviewed. And a senior-level aviation team, an investigative team from our Aviation Safety Center, was deployed last night and already is in Washington, D.C., to investigate what’s going on. We anticipate that the investigation will quickly be able to determine whether the aircraft was in the corridor and at the right altitude at the time of the incident. As I mentioned, next of kin notifications are ongoing. It’s a tragedy, a horrible loss of life for those 64 souls on that civilian airliner and, of course, the three soldiers in that Black Hawk aircraft. They’re in our prayers, their families and their communities. As people are notified, I can’t imagine. And I know it’s gone from a rescue mission to a recovery mission. And we’re with all the first responders that are moving actively, too. So at the Defense Department, our thoughts and prayers go out. We are actively investigating to find out what happened and why. And as we get updates, you will have them.
SPEAKER 09 :
That’s the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, rolling up his sleeves and getting to work as his job commences. Same for Sean Duffy, the Transportation Secretary. Same for President Trump.
SPEAKER 05 :
It’s week two of the Trump era, and earlier in the week, Mike did his best to keep up with the president’s first seven days.
SPEAKER 09 :
This was a history-making week. Now, let me read this list from Insurrection Barbie. And I’m going to read every one of these items. 34 events. 34 acts. 34 occurrences. 34 monumental historic events. achievements in one week. Biden didn’t have 34 accomplishments of this stature in four years. This is one week. Can I read the list to you? Immigration, we know. Number one, all the things about immigration, ending birthright citizenship, beefing up the visa screenings, the national emergency at the border, thousands of troops being deployed. That’s number one. That’s just number one, immigration. Number two, pardons. He pardoned the He pardoned wrongfully convicted cops. Pardons. Number three, signed executive orders directed as a direction on a ban on the weaponization of government. Number four, banned censorship of free speech. Five, directed investigations into past misconduct by the government. Six, recognized two sexes, men and women. Seven, canceled DEI, put every DEI employee on federal leave. Eight, rescinded affirmative action by executive order. Nine, fired 1,000 Biden presidential appointees. Ten, U.S. embassies can only fly the American flag. Eleven, declared a national energy emergency. And with that, we pulled out of the disastrous Paris climate accords. Deregulation of domestic energy production. Eliminated EV mandates. All under the National Energy Emergency. That’s only number 11. Number 12. Paused all foreign aid for 90 days.
SPEAKER 1 :
13.
SPEAKER 09 :
America First policy advanced. 14. An executive order that directed a hiring freeze. Fifteen. An executive order that directed a regulatory freeze. Sixteen. Established Doge, you know, the Department of Government Efficiency. Seventeen. Revoked a hundred Biden executive orders. Eighteen. Federal employees will be hired on merit. 19 withdrew from the World Health Organization. 20 suspended the ban on TikTok. 21 restored the Mexico City rule. 22 reinstated the Hyde Amendment. No more federal funding for abortions. 23 spoke at Davos and told the Bank of… America CEO stopped debanking conservatives. 24, spoke with the leaders of Denmark, El Salvador, Saudi Arabia. 25, secured $1.1 trillion in investments in our economy. 26, designated the Houthis as a terrorist organization. 27, traveled to North Carolina and then California, getting Gavin Newsom to bend the knee and kiss the ring. and schooled Karen Bass, that radical leftist mayor of Los Angeles. 28, got homeowners all kinds of information on getting back into their homes in Pacific Palisades. 29, signed an executive order to declassify MLK, JFK, and RFK Jr. files. RFK files, rather. Thirty, strip taxpayer-funded security for Anthony Fauci, John Bolton, and Mike Pompeo. We’ll get into that in just a moment. That’s a hotly contested issue. Thirty-one, revoke the security clearances for 51 former spies who lied. Thirty-two, institute the death penalty for killing a cop or an illegal killing a citizen. Thirty-three, withdrew the menthol cigarette ban. 34 held a rally in Las Vegas to promote no tax on tips. That’s just one week. That’s his first week. And we’re just kicking off Monday. My goodness. This is beyond history. This is a triumphant, staggering win for America.
SPEAKER 05 :
Billionaire actress Selena Gomez took to social media, bemoaning the first round of deportations. There was plenty of weeping and crying, but I don’t think anyone was buying it.
SPEAKER 09 :
You seen the Selena Gomez video? She’s an interesting young woman. She’s 32 years old. She’s a billionaire. She started out as a Disney child star. Successful actress, businesswoman. She has some kind of a beauty product line. And she took a camera and pointed it to herself. and essentially had a mental breakdown over the mass deportation that is taking place right now in the United States. Now, she’s from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Her mother’s American. Her father, apparently, who abandoned, as I understand, the family when she was young, was Mexican. She, and I think this is important, And we all ought to be about some degree of compassion and humanity. She evidently struggles with mental health issues. I guess after you see this video, that can be confirmed.
SPEAKER 10 :
I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked. The children… I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything I promise.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, there are some things you can do other than point a camera at yourself and ugly cry for your 422 million followers on Instagram. Why don’t you take some of your hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars I mean, she’s worth apparently over a billion with a B. Take $100 million and buy an island and give illegals a sanctuary island. You could get a heck of an island for $100 million. You’d get a lot done. Why don’t you start? Why don’t you step up? I understand she’s got a palatial mansion in Los Angeles with a big gate, incidentally. That irony shouldn’t be lost on anyone. Open up your gates and bring in maybe dozens of illegals to live in your home. And I’m not saying that to be a smart aleck. Do something other than point a camera at yourself and cry. And incidentally, remember the nature of this actress’s It’s total performance art. I’m not trying to mock her if she really is mentally ill. Maybe she’s got a lot of problems. But when you put a camera on your face and then… sob and weep and moan and groan and cry, you want your 422 million followers to see that. A camera didn’t walk in. Some guy with a camera didn’t just waltz into her kitchen and say, oh, let me take a video of you in one of your lowest moments. No, she did that. She’s an actress. She’s a performer. And apparently got, again, mental health challenges. Tom Holman was asked about it. The border czar, he said, we haven’t arrested any families. We’re arresting public safety threats and national security for us. Bottom line, if they don’t like it, then go to Congress and change the law. We’re going to do this, he said, without apology. We’re going to do this without apology. Do you think Selena Gomez wept over the crime victims? who suffered at the hands of the trendy Aragua gang members from Venezuela? You think she cried for Lake and Riley? Maybe she did. Maybe she cries a lot. But there is a new sheriff in town. There is a new dawn that has risen. And we’re going to go forward with this without apology to the Selena Gomez’s of the world.
SPEAKER 05 :
This week, we caught up with Breitbart’s Joel Pollack to talk about President Trump’s visit to California in the wake of the terrible fires there. We wondered, will the citizens of that state finally wake up?
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, Joel, let’s talk about Trump’s willingness to travel to Southern California, you know, four or five days into his term. I mean, they were begging Biden to show up in Palestine, Ohio. They were begging Biden to show that he cared about people who’ve been devastated by something like wildfires. Give us your takeaway of being in that room and watching President Trump interact with local and state officials. I mean, there he was, you know, Gavin Newsom’s waiting for him on the tarmac. I mean, how dare they suggest that he wants to leave anybody behind?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, you know, I’m glad you mentioned East Palestine, because one of the reasons Biden didn’t go there is that he knew that eastern Ohio was not Biden country. OK, he likes to talk about being from Pennsylvania, but that part of the world does not vote for Joe Biden. It doesn’t vote for Democrats anymore. And so he didn’t want to go there. Whereas Donald Trump went not only to western North Carolina, which is definitely Trump country, but he came here and this is Kamala Harris country, Hillary Clinton country, Barack Obama country. He came out here, and I might have been the only resident in that town hall who actually voted for Trump. I think most of my neighbors voted Democratic. And he came out here because he’s president of all the people. But also, I think what happened among my neighbors was they saw that he was fighting for them against the state and local officials who wanted to give all kinds of excuses as to why these homeowners couldn’t get back and rebuild. And so I don’t know if that means they’re going to change their votes. right now i don’t really care i just want to see them get the help they need but i do think it was eye-opening for them to see how hard he was fighting for them people who never voted for him let’s say against these state and local officials that they elected i do think there’s a moment there’s a reckoning happening right now in california where people are realizing that we’ve focused on everything else except government the democratic party has offered us identity politics And all kinds of social issues, they have not delivered better performance. And you see it in emergencies like these. So I do think the president achieved a lot by coming to an area that is a deep blue area. This is not the most conservative, excuse me, not the most liberal part of L.A. This part of L.A. did vote for Rick Caruso, who’s a former Republican, left of center Democrat for mayor, not left wing Karen Bass. But it is still overwhelmingly a Democratic area, although we do have some conservatives here. And I think it took political courage for him to be here, and I think it did change some hearts and minds.
SPEAKER 09 :
We’re joined by Joel Pollack, Breitbart News senior editor-at-large. If you’re watching on Salem News Channel, you see the devastation of the Pacific Palisades neighborhood behind him. Thank goodness your house was saved, but of course many were not. Joel, you wrote a book. the agenda, what Trump should do in his first 100 days. It’s available wherever books are sold. When you were putting this book together, did you envision that week one would have been the epic, history-making week that we’ve experienced? I mean, it’s like drinking out of a fire hose. Even you probably didn’t see this coming.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, you know, when I wrote the book, I used that standard that we use to measure presidents, which is the first 100 days. And that really comes to us from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the first hundred days of his administration when he launched the New Deal. And that was considered a rapid sprint to start what was then a poor, firm presidency. I think we have to change the benchmark. It has to be the first week. I think Donald Trump did almost everything in my book. The first three or four days of his presidency, there are still a few things left to do. But I was blown away by how much he did. I suggested when I was talking about the book last summer that he should launch about 200 executive orders. He did 118 on the first day alone. So reading my book, but also it’s a new standard. He has set a new standard for governance. And notice how little resistance there is this time around, because a lot of what he’s doing is just common sense.
SPEAKER 05 :
Vice President J.D. Vance turned up on the Sunday morning talk shows this week and conducted a master class in schooling the media on illegal immigration.
SPEAKER 09 :
What side are you on? Are you on the side of law and order? Are you on the side of breaking the law? This Brandon Johnson, this whack job, radical goofball mayor of Chicago, he’s doubling down. Oh, we’re a sanctuary city. Come to Chicago. Come one, come all. Great. Keep it up. And watch what happens. Because… President Trump isn’t playing. This guy is not playing around. He has surrounded himself with smart, loyal, clear-eyed leadership. Here’s J.D. Vance, another clip. I can’t get enough of his Margaret Brennan interview on Face the Nation. The issue of birthright citizenship keeps coming up because the left has twisted the origins of of the 14th Amendment to turn it into something that it was never intended by the Founding Fathers. It was to grant citizenship to formerly enslaved black Americans. That’s what the whole purpose was of birthright citizenship, not somebody who comes across the Rio Grande eight and a half months pregnant in order to give birth so that they can get the benefits the free health care provided by the United States. So that came up yesterday with Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation.
SPEAKER 12 :
If you are a lawful permanent resident or a legal immigrant who plans to stay, your children, of course, should become American citizens. But let’s say you’re the child of an ambassador. You don’t become.
SPEAKER 11 :
But that’s not part of it.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, that is an important principle. But we’re saying that that carve out should apply to anybody who doesn’t plan to stay here. If you come here on vacation and you have a baby in an American hospital, that baby doesn’t become an American citizen. If you’re an illegal alien and you come here temporarily, hopefully. Your child does not become an elite American citizen by virtue of just having been born on American soil. It’s a very basic principle in American immigration law that if you want to become an American citizen and you’ve done it the right way and the American people and their collective wisdom have welcomed you into our national community, then you become a citizen. But temporary residence. People who come in here, whether legally or illegally, and don’t plan to stay, their children should become American citizens. I don’t know any country that does that or why we would be different.
SPEAKER 09 :
Why are we different? Because we’ve let the left hijack common sense. And I have to tell you, that interview yesterday, the condescending way… Margaret Brennan spoke to the vice president for the whole interview was really, really appalling. And look, the media better wake up. They’re starting to. They’re starting to change. Portions of our show brought to you by MyPillow. SPEAKER 05 :
Promo code MikeG. This is the Mike Gallagher Show Week in Review podcast. I’m Eric Hansen. Don’t look now, but is Donald Trump getting ready to end the federal income tax?
SPEAKER 09 :
Did Donald Trump’s new Treasury Secretary pledge to abolish income tax? Well, a lot of people got fooled by, including one of our own sites, I think, posting an ex-account for Scott Besson the new Treasury Secretary, that was fake. Turned out that the post where he said, time to get rid of income tax and just rely on tariffs and gold, that was a fake post. Besant has repeatedly said that he is going to prioritize election tax cut promises. Besant told the Wall Street Journal… The tax cut measures will include making Trump’s first-term tax cuts permanent. They’re going to eliminate taxes on tips, Social Security benefits, and overtime pay. But there is no apparent effort by the Treasury Secretary, contrary to popular belief, to to getting rid of the federal income tax. However, President Trump has floated the idea. Here he was speaking to House GOP members this week.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s time for the United States to return to the system that made us richer and more powerful than ever before. Do you know, the United States in 1870 to 1913, all tariffs, and that was the richest period in the history of the United States, relatively speaking. We had no income tax. The income tax came in in 1913. As I said in my speech last week, instead of taxing our citizens to enrich foreign nations, we should be tariffing and taxing foreign nations to enrich our citizens. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER 09 :
Makes all the sense in the world. And our tax code makes zero sense. Makes no sense. Now, I’m always sensitive to my complaining about taxes. Because to many people, if you make a really good living, who cares if you pay a lot of taxes, right? And I get that argument. I do understand that. And I’m mindful that I don’t exactly make minimum wage. However, when the vast majority of taxes in America are paid by the so-called 1%, that’s wrong. And when you break down statistically… What the percentages are of Americans who pay federal income tax, it’s really obscene. A majority of Americans don’t pay any federal income tax at all. And a minority of Americans, people who have been financially successful, pay almost all federal income tax in America. That’s a fact. That’s not fair. That’s not right. Everybody ought to have some skin in the game. And I don’t care if it’s a flat tax. I think a consumption tax has merit. Get rid of federal income tax altogether. Tax people who buy things. Because the more you make, the more you’re going to spend. The more you spend, the higher your taxes. You buy a, I don’t know, a TV set for a thousand bucks. Instead of just sales tax, maybe you pay a 10% tax on the $1,000 TV set. If you make $50,000 a year, maybe you can’t afford a $1,000 TV set. So you buy a $200 TV set and you pay 10% on the $200 TV set. You’re only paying $20, right? I think there’s merit to that. I think there’s a lot of merit to one flat tax, one rate across the board. When I left New York City, I was paying 51% in taxes. Now, I can guarantee you most Americans don’t pay 51% in taxes. Again, I earn more than many people earn. I’m mindful of that, and I’m grateful. I’m blessed. But if you think whatever you make, it would be okay. How would you like to give more than half of your… Now, it was unique because it was New York. So I was paying New York City, New York State, and federal taxes. When I moved to Florida, no more city or state. That’s why everybody’s doing it. That’s why Sean Hannity’s doing it. That’s why so many people have come to Florida or states with no state income tax. You get an instant…
SPEAKER 05 :
pay increase. A new law claims that the rideshare app Uber discriminated against the passenger based on her size. We talked to the attorney in the case, John Marco.
SPEAKER 09 :
I don’t want to fat shame your client, but she’s nearly 500 pounds. What was the size of the vehicle? Because you couldn’t really tell from her video. It looked to me like a Camry or a Toyota, right? A Corolla?
SPEAKER 08 :
No, it was a Mercedes. It was a large Mercedes. You know, these Mercedes have those big back seats. And Mike, I got to tell you, look, I was a little surprised when the story came out. that my client has received kind of a lot of negative pushback on this, which as an attorney that does, I was kind of surprised because I didn’t expect this to receive such a negative backlash because it’s not just about her. But since this has come out, I’ve received calls from other people. I have a video, for example, of an 82-year-old elderly woman who called an Uber to get doctors to get help. And she had a walker, Mike, so she’s walking out, trying to get into the Uber. And when the Uber driver saw that she had a walker, he didn’t want to deal with it, so he sped off, and she didn’t make her doctor’s appointment.
SPEAKER 11 :
Wow.
SPEAKER 08 :
And so, I mean, I get your viewers, and we can take a look at this and say, you know, we can laugh at it or say that…
SPEAKER 09 :
that this negative backlash but this isn’t just for her it’s for everybody i mean mike what if you try to get an uber and they said you know what i don’t pick up white people well and of course i don’t have a choice about my race i i have no choice of my skin color maybe maybe dank damas doesn’t have choice over her weight maybe she’s got a glandular situation or thyroid but you know i i get your point about weight being a protected you know class i guess in michigan you you cite the law But I keep thinking about all the pragmatic issues that people who are overweight or, in this case, morbidly obese, face, like getting on an airplane. And there’s a whole debate about that. And I thought about that, too. Is the airline required to give a 489-passenger three seats? Give them the whole row because she surely can’t fit into a regular seat on an airplane. Right.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, Mike, that’s a great point. If this was a Delta Airlines case, Delta, we got a big hub out of Detroit. I wouldn’t have touched this case at all. And I would have said, I’m sorry. But that’s different because on a Delta flight, you know, you pay for the seat and you’re going to inconvenience or prevent other people from being able to fly where you’re encroaching on other people’s rights. Right. In this particular case, the… Look, if she literally couldn’t fit in the vehicle, like she literally couldn’t fit in the door, then I wouldn’t bring this case either. But in this case, she had been in these types of vehicles before. She wasn’t encroaching on anyone other’s rights. other than the driver said, I just don’t want to take a big woman in my car.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, but John, now come on, now come on. Now, John, you know that he didn’t just say, well, I just don’t want to take you. He clearly had a legitimate concern that a 500, nearly 500 pound woman was going to be rough on maybe the car, the vehicle, the suspension. I mean, you don’t think he, why else would he have turned her away if not for her weight?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, he did turn away from her weight, but okay, let’s say he picked up three people in an Uber. Look, a 500-pound woman is not going to break a Mercedes C-Class. No, you’re right. You’re right. You’re right, of course. I mean, you pick up three people. I go with my friends down to the Detroit Lions, who unfortunately aren’t going to make it this year, but I get an Uber. We load in. We load in three people, and we each weigh close to 200. That’s 600 pounds right there. John Marco is our guest.
SPEAKER 09 :
He’s the founder of Marco Law out of Detroit. We’re talking about this case of this woman. Incidentally, what happened? I want to ask you what you want because you’re suing. What do you want from Lyft, which is, of course, the company that is under the umbrella for the ride share? But first of all, what happened to the driver?
SPEAKER 08 :
Nothing, as far as we can tell, nothing has happened to the driver. We want an apology from Lyft. And look, we just want them to implement policies so this doesn’t happen to anyone. And not just because of your weight, but because of the other things I told you, if your grandma needs to go to the doctors. you need to be rest assured that if they call a business that they’re not going to violate that person’s rights or sure you know if you’re coming out of church with a cross hanging off your chest and you know you you you want to go to the church or whatever that you’re not going to be discriminated there at all either we’re just asking for equal policies for equal protection
SPEAKER 05 :
Robert Kennedy Jr. faced the Senate in his bid to become the Director of Health and Human Services this week, standing in his way, a particularly ridiculous Senator Bernie Sanders.
SPEAKER 09 :
What a spectacle a number of these Democrats made of themselves. How about Comrade Bernie shrieking about onesies? This doofus thought it would be a good idea to find… You know the little outfits that babies put on? And apparently there were onesies with anti-vax messages on them. And so Bernie Sanders gets somebody at taxpayer expense to make big signs, blowing up the pictures of the onesies and shrieking at Bobby Kennedy, do you support the onesies? This actually happened yesterday on Capitol Hill.
SPEAKER 03 :
They are selling what’s called onesies. These are little things clothing for babies. One of them is titled Unfaxed Unafraid. Next one, and they’re sold for 26 bucks apiece, by the way. Next one is no vax, no problem. Now, you’re coming before this committee and you say you’re pro-vaccine. Just want to ask some questions. And yet your organization is making money selling a child’s product to parents for 26 bucks, which has fundamental doubt on the usefulness of vaccines. Can you tell us now that you will, now that you are president, Pro vaccine that you’re going to have your organization take these products off the market.
SPEAKER 13 :
Senator, I have no power over that organization. I’m not part of it. I resigned from the board.
SPEAKER 03 :
That was just a few months ago. You founded that. You certainly have power. You can make that. Are you supportive of this? I’ve had nothing to do with these onesies.
SPEAKER 13 :
I’m supportive of vaccines.
SPEAKER 03 :
Are you supportive of these this clothing, which is militantly anti vaccine?
SPEAKER 13 :
I am supportive of vaccines. Well, I want good science and I want to protect.
SPEAKER 03 :
But you will not tell the organization you founded not to continue selling that product. Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
SPEAKER 09 :
Are you supportive of the onesies? What do you think about the onesies? This is a deranged lunatic. That’s a senior U.S. Senator. Do you like the onesies? My Lord. And it gets worse with Chuck Schumer. Now, these are the heads of the Democrat Party. Check out Chuck Schumer’s clip. talking about the resistance. This is how he describes the resistance. Does Chuck Schumer, a guy who’s been around 100 years, the Senate minority leader, thank goodness, a guy who’s been in politics since dirt was made, this is how he chooses to describe the emotional response of those who are resisting the Trump administration.
SPEAKER 01 :
But the roots of democracy are deep. People are aroused. I haven’t seen people so aroused in a very, very long time in terms of going trying to get this done. So, yes, I think democracy will have an effect and we are going to keep at it.
SPEAKER 09 :
OK, well, and you wonder why the Democrats have about a 30 percent approval rating right now with the American people. Quinnipiac came out with a poll the other day. Democrats are there almost as down there with the media. The Democrat Party is in such trouble right now. And if you don’t have lunatics like Bernie Sanders shrieking about the onesies, you got Chuck Schumer saying, I haven’t seen people this aroused in a long time.
SPEAKER 05 :
The CIA concluded this week that the COVID-19 pandemic originated in a lab in Wuhan, China. Gee, now tell us something we don’t know.
SPEAKER 09 :
Remember how many people got in trouble? for suggesting that the coronavirus came from a lab in Wuhan? Even Jon Stewart went on the Stephen Colbert show and said, you know, it’s like, oh, there’s an outbreak of chocolatey goodness in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Wonder what could be the cause? Remember the whole wet market thing and the virus jump from a pangolin to a man? Well, now the CIA thinks that the virus originated from a lab. The assessment was declassified and released Saturday on the orders of President Trump’s pick to lead the agency, John Ratcliffe. The new director of the CIA has said that this critical piece of intelligence should be released to the public. And guess what? It has been. Now the CIA says it’s more likely. that COVID originated from a lab leak. I thought it would be good to track this story down with one of the few news people in America who routinely called it the China virus. Roger P. Shulman has been covering news in Florida for the better part of five decades, and I wanted to bring Roger in. Of course, last year we added him to the Mike Gallagher Show lineup. He’s in the Mike Gallagher newsroom. looking spiffy in his red-white and blue tie or red-white and black tie? Red-white and dark blue, very dark blue.
SPEAKER 02 :
Dark blue.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right, good. My eagle eye caught it. You’ve got a patriotic tie on. You always referred to it as the China virus. Did you get any flack for that over the years?
SPEAKER 02 :
I did get some flack, but I continued it because that’s where it came from. It’s obvious that’s where it came from. Seven million people died of it. Countless others have had problems since. We have had so many businesses closed in this country because of it. Many have not recovered yet. And obviously, it came from China. You had a lab in Wuhan that was working with the help of Fauci to weaponize this virus. He was told not to do this. You have this building in the middle of a town, a city with millions of people, horrible place to put it, because any mistake is out in the population immediately. These labs, in my opinion, should be 50 miles out in some desert covered by some sort of covering. So if this does happen, it doesn’t affect anybody. But no, they put it in the middle of a population area. Apparently, a mistake was made, according to the CIA, and it caused this to be released. Unfortunately, the Chinese government did not stop flights out of China to the United States and other areas like Italy. Italy was hit hard because they import Chinese workers to work on those nice purses that you get for thousands of dollars that say they’re from Italy. But actually, they’re worked on by Chinese people who work cheaply and are flown in each day. Well, each week or so from China. So you had a whole situation there where this went around the world very quickly. I don’t know if China wanted that to happen, if it was planned or what, but it’s a terrible situation. Anthony Fauci should, in my opinion, and this is just my opinion, take the main blame because he’s the one who wanted to weaponize, make this virus, which is a bad virus. even a worse virus, and it killed 7 million people. Big crime against humanity, I would think.
SPEAKER 09 :
This is why there’s such debate over whether or not it’s reasonable to pull Anthony Fauci’s security detail from him. We’re spending millions of dollars to guard him. at the expense of the American taxpayer. And of course, he’s gone on to make millions and millions of dollars. The argument is he can afford to get his own security if he wants bodyguards. And incidentally, Roger, before anybody accuses this of being politicized, these conclusions that the CIA has come to came from a review ordered by the Biden administration. They were just released this week by Radcliffe, but it was a Biden-ordered review. The CIA reviewed it, and they said, look, it’s more likely than not that it came from the lab. I mean, remember when people were getting destroyed for saying that? People were being called whack-job, wild-eyed conspiracy theorists. If you dared say that it came from the lab, people like Roger P. Shulman got flack for calling it the China virus.
SPEAKER 02 :
And that’s where it came from. I was accused of being racist because it was Chinese. What about the Spanish flu? What about the various African Ebola’s and things that came from? We’ve always given place names to these diseases. But now, since it’s the Chinese, oh, we can’t say that. It’s as you say, racist.
SPEAKER 09 :
Racist. Well, no, there’s no racism there. It’s just cold, hard facts. Roger P. Shulman, great job. And this is one of the reasons we love you. This is one guy who always called it the China virus in all of his newscasts. One of the best newsmen in America checking in with us from our newsroom. Thank you. Thank you, Roger.
