I’m watching a series on Hulu that Murdoch, the Murdochs, A Death in the Family, they’ve done an acted out version of the Murdoch family. In other words, and you’ll recognize the actors and actresses. Oh, no. You know how it gives the disclaimer that this is based on real life, but some parts are fictionalized, blah, blah, blah. But it’s very true to life. Look, it’s a fascinating story. Did you say somebody recognizable plays somebody? Oh, yeah. There’s one of the Arquette. Who’s the Arquette? You’ll know the… Rosanna Arquette?
SPEAKER 02 :
Patricia Arquette?
SPEAKER 01 :
I think it’s Patricia. She plays the housekeeper who mysteriously wound up dead at the foot of the Murdoch estate one day. They’ve had all these deaths that followed the family. What’s it called?
SPEAKER 02 :
What’s it called?
SPEAKER 01 :
It’s called a Death in the Family, the Murdochs, or the Murdoch family, Death in the Family, but it’s on Hulu. The guy that’s playing Alec Murdoch is real familiar.
SPEAKER 02 :
Patricia Arquette.
SPEAKER 01 :
Patricia, but who’s playing? Jason Clarke, of course. You know him, right? Yeah, absolutely. He’s done a physical, I kind of… sort of recognize him, but he’s done a physical transformation. All these actors look like the Murdoch family.
SPEAKER 02 :
Who’s Randolph Murdoch? Who is that in real life?
SPEAKER 01 :
That’s the father, and that’s Gerald McCraney. That’s Gerald McCraney from Major Dad. I mean, it’s a great cast, and it looks… I have always… This guy had it all, but he was a drug addict. He slaughtered his… beloved wife and beloved son outside the dog kennel. It’s the strangest, wildest story. Anyhow, that’s right.
SPEAKER 02 :
And for some bizarre reason, you were drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
SPEAKER 01 :
I’m twisted. I’m a twisted, warped human being. All right, let’s go back to what you were saying about the ice app.
SPEAKER 02 :
Ice tracker, ice block is the name of another one. I’ve got to give them cleverness points on that. It’s all designed so that people would be aware of where ice is to either A, avoid them, or B, kill them.
SPEAKER 01 :
Well, now, you know what I’ve been thinking about? I remember this debate years ago. Is it illegal to alert somebody where there’s a police officer in a speed trap?
SPEAKER 02 :
Did you ever have a radar detector?
SPEAKER 01 :
I used it back in the day. Now, it’s funny.
SPEAKER 02 :
I asked our AI overlords, do people still use radar detectors? Apparently, they remain pretty popular. I haven’t seen one, had one, used one, thought about one. My explanation to the audience was largely because I’ve stopped speeding. But they’re legal, right? Yes, they are. The short answer. Now, it’s funny. They are. But I think Virginia? another state or two, have made them illegal. So you either have the right to detect radar out there in the ether or you don’t. So that’s an unsettled thing to me.
SPEAKER 01 :
I remember a couple years ago a guy got a ticket because he was blinking his brights, his lights, his headlights at oncoming traffic because there was a speed trap behind him. He wanted to warn other people.
SPEAKER 02 :
That seems horribly wrong, doesn’t it? I mean, wrong to bust somebody for that.
SPEAKER 01 :
Wrong? Oh, to bust somebody, yeah, to give them a ticket. All right, so with that logic, you and I both sort of accept radar detectors, alerting people to the presence of cops. So let’s look at what they’re doing with the ICE officers. Is it the same thing? No.
SPEAKER 02 :
It probably is close. Kind of? Because law enforcement is paid for by our tax dollars. I mean, you shouldn’t have the right to reveal some undercover bust that could break open a drug ring in your city. But as far as where they are visibly… sharing information on, wow, there’s an ICE truck, or wow, there they are at this corner downtown, that would seem like something people have a right to do. My concern is not so much with the technology, but the fact that people, the reason people, illegals seeking to avoid detection, or people who actively seek to do harm to these offices.
SPEAKER 01 :
I’ve spent a lot of time over the years. Back in the day, I remember buying a couple of bags for my Denise on Canal Street where you can get knockoff counterfeit items. They had a big ice rave on Canal Street this week. Right. Chinatown, right? Lower Manhattan, Chinatown, and there was a massive crowd and a whole riot, and they’re screaming at the ICE officers. And somebody posted something on social media about the Canal Street arrests. First of all, there were nine arrests, and you know who they arrested? People with violent criminal histories, some of whom were even on film assaulting people for filming them. This wasn’t a militarized raid, but here’s what this guy points out that I think is really interesting. Every politician, incidentally, is now using what happened on Canal Street to fuel the fire.
SPEAKER 02 :
Oh, Andrew Cuomo last night in the debate said, this is not America. This is not, you know, I said, well, guess what? Yeah, guess what’s not America? Having foreigners sell fake stuff and attempt to get away with it. Go ahead, Andrew.
SPEAKER 01 :
But they’re criminally legal. I mean, it’s not just the fake stuff. They regulate that all the time. Nine of the people that they arrested were violent, criminal, illegal offenders. Okay, now, here’s what the guy points out. It’s very strange. How in the middle of the day… were so many people able to drop everything and rush to Canal Street and have a big riot. He said, this is New York City. He said, look, we’re unfazed. We could walk by a guy eating a live chicken with his hair on fire and not even notice. Yet somehow all these people were so outraged. Mark, it’s not organic. These are astroturf organized counter-protest sites. So how did they know to be there? Well, the ice tracker, a version of the ice tracker, somebody, a friendly person in the media. You mentioned the mayor’s debate last night. There was another debate last night. By all accounts, Curtis just nailed it. He was.
SPEAKER 02 :
He’s great. And I always, when I have that reaction, I always think, well, yeah, because that’s my guy. I’m always going to think the guy who agrees with me is great. You and I have both said Mamdani seems to be some version of evil incarnate, but he’s good. He’s got a serious skill set. That’s what makes him kind of so wickedly menacing is because he really presents well. He speaks well.
SPEAKER 01 :
He seems so reasonable. Yeah, but he’s not. But he wasn’t good last night. Correct. Curtis was.
SPEAKER 02 :
Curtis was awesome.
SPEAKER 01 :
They had an issue about ballot initiatives, and he just sat there with that stupid grin, that frozen grin, for like 18 seconds, didn’t say a word. Cuomo and Sliwa ganged up on him, which incidentally made people just think, what if, what if, what if, if they teamed up together and they were just joined forces. But I heard an interview this morning on Chris DeGaulle’s show before you came on. Mm-hmm. I don’t know who the guy was. Chris has a lot of smart guests on, like your show and hopefully my show. We always learn a little bit from our shows. And this guy was a great guest, but he was some policy guy. But he pointed something out. He said all these people calling on Curtis to drop out, especially Republicans calling on Curtis to drop out. Think about putting yourself in the position to be a Republican and you’re going to endorse the COVID killer and the disgraced former governor, Andrew Cuomo. That’s ridiculous. Exactly.
SPEAKER 02 :
It should make you feel dirty to even think about that.
SPEAKER 01 :
Of course you should. And Curtis is under no obligation to drop out. That’s nonsense, especially from Republicans, Hugh Hewitt. I mean, to go around in New York. New York Post, exactly. New York Post, John Katsimatidis. I love these folks. And these are all friends of mine, and I love the Post. But are you kidding me? A Republican to endorse Andrew Cuomo and try to force Curtis out? First of all, if New Yorkers want to inflict Zoran Mamdani upon themselves, then have at it.
SPEAKER 02 :
F-A-F-O, baby.
SPEAKER 01 :
And you’re about to F-O if you don’t do the right thing. But at the end of the day, it’s ridiculous. I’m so glad you took me off the ledge a few weeks ago and walked me off of me wavering on Curtis ever so briefly.
SPEAKER 02 :
I understood why you did, and I understand you, and I understand the post.
SPEAKER 01 :
I do, too.
SPEAKER 02 :
Preventing Mamdani is a noble goal, but it’s so short-sighted. At what cost? You tell the conservatives to leave the field of battle?
SPEAKER 01 :
No. But what I don’t understand is a Republican saying, Andrew Cuomo, he’s my guy. I know. No, no, no.
SPEAKER 02 :
If you find yourself saying that, something’s the matter.
SPEAKER 01 :
If something has gone wrong, you’ve got to back Curtis.
