Well, thank you for handing off to me because the breaking news is that I don’t have a torn retina after all. holy moly i’m telling you what what what a what a little adventure this has been joey went to jacksonville for the big wbob christmas party friday night we had such a great time what a wonderful wonderful radio station uh and just a just terrific morning host ed dean and he was the kind of the mc lieutenant governor jay collins was there the speaker of the house was there and Anyway, it’s about a four-hour drive, so it’s not an easy drive. And as I’m driving back, I start getting this white flash in my right eye, like a little pinpoint, like little light. I thought, well, that’s weird. Went to bed, got home, went to bed. Next day, I wake up, and now I’ve got a black smudge in my right eye. It’s like floating around. And I didn’t know that. Did you know they call these floaters?
SPEAKER 11 :
I’ve never had that experience, but I’ve had friends who have, yes.
SPEAKER 09 :
Right, so I make the mistake of going to chat GPT. Of course. Now, hypochondriac Harry Gallagher and chat GPT, not a good combination. So I look it up, and it says torn retina possibility. But there was also another possibility of just like an aging thing, vicious or vicious or something. I forget the way. And that’s not a big deal. That wasn’t really a big problem. Well, so I go to the ER. The doctor said, get there quick because you’ve got to deal with this stuff fast so you don’t have a detached retina. Long story short, today I go to the ophthalmologist. He said there’s no tear. You just have this viscous, viscous, vusha, vusha, whatever it is. And he said it’ll probably heal itself. Keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, let me know. But I think all’s well that ends well. And you just had to cover for a little bit while I was racing in from the doctor’s office.
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, it was my pleasure to do so. But here’s what I don’t understand, because last night when you were texting and we talked, I mean, did the ER docs seem to suspect that it was torn?
SPEAKER 09 :
I don’t mean to throw the ER doc under the bus. But here’s what happened. So I go in. I say, it’s my right eye. They’re looking at my right eye. Well, he comes in, this doctor. I’m just going to put it this way. Great hospital. I don’t think eye issues are this guy’s specialty. Okay. Because he comes in with the ultrasound, has me close my eyes, and he starts putting the ultrasound over my left eye. Well, it’s my right eye that’s the problem. And I hear him say, hmm, I don’t really see. And then when he said that, I said, well, you do know it’s my right eye, right? And then he says, oh, yeah, we do this to compare. We do it by, yeah, you do this to compare. I love it. He got busted. So, yeah, he was a little vague. He looked at it and he said, yeah, I think it’s a tear. So we got to get you right away because they might have to do a laser. Here’s what I didn’t understand. All my friends who heard about this were telling me sometimes you’ve got to lay face down for like three days or something or four days. What? How do you do that?
SPEAKER 11 :
Well, and I wasn’t telling you any of this because I thought, my goodness here. But, yeah, we had a friend who he was down for like a week. On his face? Yes, face down for a week.
SPEAKER 09 :
Something to do with the gravity and the bubble and the way the surgery?
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah, and the pressure of your eye. And you can’t fly. There’s a lot of things you can’t do.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, I was worried about Christmas because, as you know, we’ve got the Griswold family Christmas planned up in the mountains of Montana. And I thought, oh, crap, this will be my luck. I’m going to screw up the family Christmas. So all’s well that ends well. Not a tear, just a viscous floater, voo-voo-voo, whatever it’s called. And I am grateful to you for holding down the fort for a little bit. All right. Now, everybody always says when they compare Mike Gallagher and Joey Hudson, because you’re our go-to guest host, And everybody always, oh, Joey’s such a nice guy. Why don’t you like Joey, Mike? You’re so mean. You interrupt people so much. So let’s get the Joey Hudson nice guy perspective. Last night, as I’m sitting there watching 60 Minutes, thinking I might have a brain tumor or whatever I had going on, I’m watching Marjorie Taylor Greene. Now, I know we both love her. Congresswoman, fiery congresswoman from not far from where you are right now in the Carolinas. She absolutely has turned on President Trump.

He has turned on her. He’s calling her Marjorie Trader Green. She’s clearly against a lot of his policies all of a sudden. There’s Leslie Stahl playing footsie with her a little bit last night on 60 Minutes because, you know, nobody loves anybody who’s turned on the president more than the mainstream media. Let’s get the Joey Hudson nice guy perspective. of this decision by Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene to throw in the towel and quit Congress before her term because she doesn’t want to be, as she put it, a battered wife.

Well, I’ll tell you, this is just a real mystery. I do not understand it. And maybe someday when she writes her book or something, we’ll better understand it. But there’s no reason that she should be doing this. I mean, she talks about she’s frustrated, and I get that. You know, I have other members of Congress that I talk to, and they tell me the same thing. They’re frustrated with the lack of activity at times in Washington. But look, there are so many good things happening in Washington right now in the Trump administration. I I just don’t get it. I don’t have an explanation for you on this one.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, and you know, for Marjorie Taylor Greene defenders who say it’s all about the Epstein files, for her, that was kind of the straw that broke the camel’s back. We could probably take a look at that, except for the fact… that she’s clearly turning him on a lot of issues. It’s not just about Epstein. It’s about illegal immigration. It’s about talking to other world leaders. It’s about meeting with the Saudi prince. I mean, on and on. It’s one thing after another after another. Joey, it’s not just about Epstein.

It’s not. It’s almost like when a couple gets divorced, you just can’t stand your former spouse, anything he or she says. It’s like that. It’s like she cannot stand being in the same room with Donald Trump. She can’t stand anything he says.

And she used to be his absolute number one supporter. I mean, she, you know, this is a funny phenomenon, and we’ve seen others do it too. When they turn on the guy, they really turn. I mean, it’s not even, it’s not lukewarm. It is red hot.

As I came into the studio today, replete with the MAGA Christmas tree. If you’re watching today on Salem News Channel, I think we might have to auction it off after the holidays. What do you think? There’s a lot of good ornaments there featuring. I love the ornament that has Trump with a Santa Claus hat standing in front of the White House, and it says, Daddy’s home. New poll came out, a Harvard-Harris approval rating for Trump. He’s up to 47%. He’s up three points since November. And, of course, it bears repeating that he is more popular among Americans at this stage of his presidency, at this stage of his second term, than either Barack Obama or George W. Bush. And, you know, you say that and you think, do people even know that? Do they get it? I’m also happy to be here after thinking I was going to be off today. I came back from Jacksonville, Florida, with this blinking white light in my right eye, in my periphery. I thought, well, this isn’t good. What’s this about? And then I got a black smudge. They call it a floater. Eric Hansen, my ops manager, said, I know what that is. Gina, my wife Gina, had a floater. I said, what the heck’s a floater? Only thing I ever heard about with a floater is something that might be, you know, in the lavatory. So I call my doctor, and then I go to chat GPT. A hypochondriac like me should never go to chat GPT or grok. Grok and chat GPT said, yep, that’s probably a torn retina. Or if it’s not a torn retina, it’s something that you really don’t need to be worried about. Let me get the right term here for you, for you medical fans. A posterior vitreous detachment, or PVD, and that’s apparently what I have, where the retina is kind of loose, but it’s not a tear, and I should be okay. And the doctor advised me this morning, don’t do any heavy lifting or strenuous physical activity. I said, yes, sir. You got it. I can handle that. I can absolutely be your – I will be a model patient. No strenuous physical activity for me. And I did – I said, no, that’s for the rest of my life, right? He said, well, no, not the rest of your life. Just a couple of weeks. But anyhow, thanks for Joey Hudson for helping out a little bit today. And I decided to come in since all I have now is just some blurred vision from the eye drops they gave me to dilate my pupils for the exam. But no tear, thank goodness. I was talking to Christian, our video producer before the show, about this mess that has broken out with all of these colorful characters. Everybody’s going at each other. Megyn Kelly and Candace Owens and Nick Fuentes and Marjorie Taylor Greene and whom I’m missing. There’s more. And it’s just regrettable because the real enemy of America is the person who wants to destroy America from within. And that has been, that really is today’s Democrat Party. But then once in a while, Republicans act just like Democrats. You’ve got to hear this clip. I saw this clip. It’s a Republican senator from Utah, John Curtis. This is not a guy who’s typically making headlines. And he shows up on CNN. There is now a spotlight on the Somali community, not only in Minnesota, but all over the country. And look, I’m not saying this as an attack. Somalia is a third world country. And plenty of Somalis have escaped Somalia to come to the United States. And according to authorities, many Somalis committed horrific Medicaid fraud to the tune of over a billion dollars with a B in Minnesota. And you’ve got the mayor of Minneapolis… Speaking in Somalia, Somali, you got the governor of Minnesota, that goofball waltz, who had the state flag redesigned so that it would more closely resemble the Somalia flag. It’s insane. And so along comes Republican Senator John Curtis of Utah. He decided to pop up on CNN and say this.

And the best thing I can do is set my example. And I think all of us need to wake up every morning, look in the mirror and say, what are we doing? What am I doing specifically today to make this country a better country, to make all of our immigrants feel more welcome? That’s what we’ve always had. And I think if more of us would do that, it would matter less what individuals said.

He wants that to be the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning, not the second or the third or even the fourth. First thing you ought to do is wake up, look in the mirror and say, what can I do to make immigrants feel more welcome? Look, we are a nation of immigrants. I don’t mind saying that. I’m the product of immigrants. I’ve said it to you a million times. My grandparents came over here on the boat from Ireland and from Lithuania on both my parents’ side. Not my great-grandparents, my grandparents. And I remember sitting in my grandpa’s lap, listening to him tell me Cape Town in Lithuanian. I remember stories about my mom’s mom, a woman from Ireland, But as President Trump often says, come over here legally, like my grandparents did. To storm the country and act entitled is insane. You want to talk about insanity? I give you Ilhan Omar from Minnesota. Check out this woman who decides to show up on CBS over the weekend with Margaret Brennan, and she says any effort to deport Somalis who are here illegally reminds her of Nazi Germany.

I want to ask you something else that the architect of the president’s immigration policy, Stephen Miller, said. On Thanksgiving Day, he posted, no magic transformation occurs when failed states cross borders. At scale, migrants and their descendants recreate the conditions and terrors of their broken homelands. What do you make of this argument of failure to assimilate and sort of ruining America? How do you understand this?
SPEAKER 08 :
I mean, when I think about Stephen Miller and his white supremacist rhetoric, it reminds me, yes, it reminds me of the way the Nazis described Jewish people in Germany. And, you know, as we know, there have been many immigrants who have tried to come to the United States who have turned back. one of them being Jewish immigrants. We know the way that people were described who were coming from Ireland, Irish immigrants. We know the way in which people were described back then when they were Italian immigrants. And to me, yes, of course, ethnically Somali, we are in this country as Americans. We are citizens. We are productive part of this nation, and we will continue to be.
SPEAKER 09 :
Incidentally, somebody pointed out that Margaret Brennan hack, that CBS hack who’s the host of Face the Nation. You could hear her loving, yeah, yes, yes, you’re right. Yes, Congress. And then she turned around and talked to Scott Besson and just ripped into him, wouldn’t let him finish a sentence. It’s always stunning to watch. the bias of an anchor like Margaret Brennan come out when she’s interviewing a whack job, far left radical like Ilhan Omar, and she slobbers all over her. But when she’s got a Republican member of the administration. She’s interrogating him like a police sergeant asking somebody questions under a naked light bulb back in the interrogation room. It’s like Jekyll and Hyde. It’s actually comical to see how really lousy these highly paid hosts of the Sunday morning news shows can be. Also over the weekend, the New York City mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani issued a video message. Now, you would think, oh, a couple weeks before Christmas. Yeah, he’s not Christian. He’s a Muslim. But maybe he’ll say, Happy Ramadan. You know, if he doesn’t want to say Merry Christmas, and God forbid the incoming mayor of New York wishes anybody a Merry Christmas, that’s probably not happening. But he did have a very important message for a certain category of people in his beloved country. New York City. Here’s his message.

Last weekend, ICE attempted to raid Canal Street and detain our immigrant neighbors. As mayor, I’ll protect the rights of every single New Yorker, and that includes the more than 3 million immigrants who call this city their home. But we can all stand up to ICE if you know your rights. If you encounter ICE, these are the things that every New Yorker should know. First, ICE cannot enter into private spaces like your home, school, or a private area of your workplace without a judicial warrant signed by a judge. That looks like this. If ICE does not have a judicial warrant signed by a judge, you have the right to say, I do not consent to entry. And the right to keep your door closed. Sometimes ICE will show you paperwork that looks like this. And tell you that they have the right to arrest you. That is false. ICE is legally allowed to lie to you, but you have the right to remain silent. If you’re being detained, you may always ask, am I free to go, repeatedly, until they answer you. You are legally allowed to film ICE, as long as you do not interfere with an arrest. It is important to remain calm during any interaction with ICE or law enforcement. Do not impede their investigation, resist arrest, or run. One last thing. New Yorkers have a constitutional right to protest. And when I’m mayor, we will protect that right. New York will always welcome immigrants, and I will fight each and every day to protect, support, and celebrate our immigrant brothers and sisters.

You know, Trump is frustrated with her. She’s frustrated with him. But in her case, she’s walking away. She’s throwing in the towel. She’s resigning from Congress, which, of course, could really hurt the Republicans during the midterms. And this is bad on every level. And I asked my friend and colleague, Joey Hudson, this morning, why do you think she’s doing this? He said, Mike, I can’t figure this one out at all. We’re all kind of left scratching our heads, except for caller Vicki from earlier today, who said she knows exactly why Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is behaving the way she’s behaving. Hey, Vicki, welcome back. What do you think’s going on with MTG?
SPEAKER 16 :
Well, I want you to know that I’ve been through this myself, so I’m an authority. I just want to say that I think that Marjorie Green is at the age that she’s going through menopause. She’s going through a change, and that makes you her mean as a snake. I’m sorry. I’ve been there myself, seen it too many times. And she’s with a crowd of women going through the same thing. That’s all I got to say, baby.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, Vicki, you can get away with it because you say you’ve been there, done that. If I say it, I’m going to get in a lot of trouble. I’m not going to say it. You know what I mean? I’ll say you said it. I’m quoting Vicki. So you think she’s menopausal?
SPEAKER 16 :
Of course she is. She’s at the age. Look at her. She’s acting like a nut. I mean, we all did it. We all do it and shoot a little caffeine in on top of that. Honey, you’re gone.
SPEAKER 09 :
All right. Thank you, Vicki. I appreciate it. All right, again, not me. That was caller Vicki. I don’t want anybody to put on social media Mike Gallagher called Marjorie Taylor Greene menopausal. But look, we had Scott Jennings on the show, and Scott said he was told right from the horse’s mouth, President Trump, she’s mad because she essentially wanted him to support her for running for governor, and he showed polling. All he did was show the polling saying that she’d get… clobbered, and that ticked her off, and she turned. I will say this. When people turn on her, I mean on him, when Republicans turn on Trump, boy, do they turn. Golly, do they turn. I’ve never seen anything like it. I mean, these people, these Republicans… These never Trumpers, or I don’t know, what do you call a staunch Trump supporter like Marjorie Taylor Greene who becomes a Trump hater? It’s got to be a whole new category for people like MTG. But there’s no lukewarm about it. It is a red-hot rage opposing him on just about every policy under the sun. And look, in context, I watched the whole interview last night on 60 Minutes. You know, when I’m sitting on the couch thinking, all I wanted to do yesterday was enjoy football. I’m running off to the emergency room. The doctor’s got me convinced my eyeball’s about to pop out of my head. I got a maybe torn retina. You know, all hell-breaking loose in my household. And it was so comforting to watch the Buffalo game, even though I felt bad for the Bengals. Isn’t it fun to watch a football game when it’s snowing to beat the band? I love that. I love that. Anyway, so I got back from the hospital, watched 60 Minutes on DVR, and there was Marjorie Taylor Greene. And her point is, look, I’m America first. Leslie Stahl said, are you MAGA? She goes, I’m America first. MAGA is Trump, and that’s not America first. Sue’s in Chicago, 20 minutes before the hour. Hey, Sue, Merry Christmas. Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show.

Hi. Hi. Yes, I agree that, you know, the menopausal, yeah, she’s going through it. She’s got a little rage in her. But I also think that, you know, what she’s been fighting for, she’s a fighter. And she’s been fighting a long time, so she’s been getting hit.
SPEAKER 09 :
Yeah, but a fighter, to quote, to paraphrase Leslie Stahl, if she’s a fighter, why quit?
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, I think she’s getting hit in other areas besides Trump. But, you know, you all have to jump on Trump. Everyone jumps on Trump. That’s the deal of all of us. Jump on Trump. But he’s been doing a lot of things. There’s many, many things he’s doing. But when it comes to big story, you jump on it.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, yeah, we do jump on it because – especially when it comes from a Republican. But I always appreciate somebody like a Hollywood actor who I am proud to say knows my name. I’ll never forget walking by a stage door one night on Broadway and Kelsey Grammer, who was starring at the time in – what show was he in at the time? I think it was – It wasn’t La Cage. I forget the show he was in. He was so good in it. He’s an American classic. And, of course, Frasier Crane. But Kelsey Grammer, I was walking by, and there he was. He looked up at me, and I said, hey, big fan. He goes, I know who you are. He goes, you’ve lost a lot of weight, Mike Gallagher. That was the coolest thing. I thought Kelsey Grammer knows my name. And here’s Kelsey Grammer, the actor, who obviously is successful enough that he doesn’t have to worry about the blowback that Hollywood and New York would give him, because he doesn’t hold back at all in heaping plenty of praise on President Trump. What issues are you most concerned about that he’s doing well on?
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, I think the economy is actually going really well. I think so, too. And we’ll see what happens in the next year or so. I mean, what I always love is when the Democrats start talking about affordability, you always know they’re going to charge you twice as much. And spend three times as much.
SPEAKER 09 :
He’s at a stage door somewhere. I don’t know where that was. I just remember what the show was he was in that I loved. And it didn’t last real long, but I loved that show, Finding Neverland. And he played the theater owner, and he was so good and just did a great job. And it really was a… If you like Broadway scores, check out the soundtrack from Finding Neverland.
