Yes, but if you are not strong… Mr. President, with respect, I think it’s disrespectful for you to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media. Right now, you guys are going around and forcing conscripts to the front lines because you have manpower problems. You should be thanking the President for trying to bring it into this conflict. Have you ever been to Ukraine that you say what problems we have? I have actually watched and seen the stories, and I know what happens is you bring people, you bring them on a propaganda tour, Mr. President. Do you disagree that you’ve had problems bringing people into your military? And do you think that it’s respectful to come to the Oval Office of the United States of America and attack the administration that is trying to prevent the destruction of your country? A lot of questions. Let’s start from the beginning.

And I wanted to come into the program with this because so much of what we’re talking about is all about. It’s all about this. What the response was, what this means for Ukraine, how Europe is reacting to it, the whole nine yards. It’s pretty wild. I’m still I take one day. And all hell breaks loose. That’s what ends up happening. I take one day and all, absolutely all hell breaks loose. And this, you know, Friday was no different. So welcome to the program. Dana Lash with you. We’re at the top of this first hour on Monday. And I’m just looking over some of the last, some of the stuff I was, last minute stuff I was looking at before we came in on air because I just got, so I got to say, First off, I think it was ridiculous for Zelensky to have that kind of an attitude. For Zelensky to have that type of attitude going into this meeting was one of the dumbest things I think I’ve ever seen in my life. The deal was basically done. This rare earth minerals deal was essentially finished. He goes in there and apparently now Zelensky wants to come back to it, which we kind of knew I think was going to happen. But The mineral rights deal, they were that was just the thing to finalize it and that he decided and I listened before the program started. I listened to the entire discussion because I thought, OK, what? Why did he just decide to kick off? Maybe, you know, and I’m just like playing devil’s advocate here. You know, maybe they had like an exchange of words or something before, you know, something. And I listened to the discussion leading up to it. And no, it was pretty much Zelensky, I think, not understanding how to be a diplomat. That’s probably the most gracious way I could put it. He doesn’t understand what it is to be a diplomat. And when you are… your nation’s leader and you’re walking into an Oval Office meeting with these greater powers that be, one of the things that you don’t do is be disrespectful and run your mouth and take little jabs here and there, which is what he did. And I will have you remember, as I mentioned last week, this guy came here during the election cycle and was de facto campaigning for Kamala Harris. So let’s not forget this stuff. So there’s a little bit of a history there. But he did not need to have that kind of attitude. Now, some people blame J.D. Vance and they say, oh, Vance got in and he really amped it up. Well, if he did, then Zelensky gave him that response. Do I think the advance escalated it? Maybe a little bit. But what kind of response did you expect anybody to have if you’re hosting a nation that only comes to you with its handout stretch for money? And there are a lot of questions about the whereabouts of the money that have been given to Ukraine. There’s a lot of questions. We’ll talk about some of them as it pertains to Ukraine. I told you this, the pensions that are being paid. I mean, we’re paying for people’s pensions and you guys, this is insane. So there’s a lot of, discontentment about this and from the American people, not just from the two elected officials that Zelensky was sitting there talking with. And Zelensky, it seems like he was completely oblivious to those sentiments as he sat in the chair with a very, I mean, he’s got his arms crossed. He’s, you know, sitting on the edge. And I also think, too, wear a damn suit when you go into the Oval Office. I know that that’s like a smaller criticism. And you would think, well, Dana, he’s all in black. I thought you liked that. Yeah, but you know what? I mean, I literally, even though it’s waist up, Because you can’t see my legs. I will literally do the TV mullet. If I’m doing a TV hit, I’ll wear business up. He can’t wear business all over just to walk in for an oval. I’ve seen people that have dressed nicer to go to Tom Thumb or Kroger than they did going to a meeting with the president and the vice. So can we stop the cosplay? Can we just stop like you? You own a suit. I know you do quit. It just is nice. Just it’s respectful. It shows it’s like a gesture of goodwill. People who complain about it or say that it’s not a big deal don’t understand diplomacy. They don’t understand diplomacy because Trump likes dudes in suits. Trump expects you to dress the part and good diplomats remove their heads from their backsides and play to these strengths instead of saying, well, I’m not doing that. I’m too good or that stupid is the goal to actually get what you want, because then you will manipulate that person, even if that means arriving up to an Oval Office meeting in a suit. So I just he doesn’t understand what it is to be a diplomat or his ego is too big or both of them. But he’s already starting to walk. A lot of this back, which I find really interesting. It he’s already starting to walk quite a bit of it back. We’ve got this to discuss because, you know, we’ve there was a lot of blaming. The media was saying that it was a setup. I don’t know how a an hour conversation preceding that dust up was a setup. That’s stupid. I can’t our media just, you know, let them. If you just let them loose, they will disappoint you. So the media went all in. I saw a lot of that over the weekend. And they were defending Zelensky. You saw some of the stuff. There’s like a couple of outbursts at the Oscars. It was defending Zelensky and saying that this is – Saying that this was – I’m just trying to think of the collection of weeping and ashing of teeth of Trump over this. And now look, Europe, I watched a – we had a soundbite – well, I don’t think we have this soundbite, but I saw this over the weekend. I can’t remember what I sent and what I haven’t. But it was Ursula von der Leyen, who’s the head of the European Union, who was saying, yes, now the – Now, the European Union, we need to step in. We need to make sure that, you know, we’re not we’re not leaving them out to dry, et cetera, et cetera. That’s kind of it’s to me that sort of signals that that was kind of maybe perhaps the point of. that discussion going the way that it did. I also wanted to play for you, this was interesting, Keir Starmer, he said this, audio soundbite nine, but very interesting because it seems like now they’re even walking that back. Listen, this is their prime minister.

Cheers on the street outside. You have full backing across the United Kingdom. And we stand with you with Ukraine for as long as it may take. And I hope you heard some of that cheering in the street. That is the people of the United Kingdom coming out to demonstrate how much they support you, how much they support Ukraine.

But then their British ambassador was saying that Zelensky needs to give his backing to Trump’s initiative. Audio sound by 10. Listen to this.

We need a very radical reset, as you say in the caption behind you. And the reset has to consist of the United States and Ukraine getting back on the same page, And President Zelensky giving his unequivocal backing to the initiative that President Trump is taking to end the war and to bring a just and lasting peace to Ukraine. And the Europeans, George, too, they need to back the calls for a ceasefire. And by the way, I think that Ukraine should be the first to commit to a ceasefire.

Now, this was after all of this. This was even after Keir Starmer coming out and saying what he said. So it seems like, I don’t know, it seems like maybe some sense made its way into Starmer’s head, at least through their ambassador there. But regardless, here’s one thing I want to make crystal clear. You can think to both of these things simultaneously. You can believe that Ukraine, yes, it’s corrupt. It’s a very corrupt country. It’s never not been corrupt. It’s never not been viewed as not being corrupt. Corrupt country. That’s absolutely true. You can believe that. And you can also believe that maybe Ukraine needs to come to the negotiating table. You can also believe simultaneously that Vladimir Putin is a geopolitical foe and that this does not somehow absolve Russia of its offensive invasion, nor does it absolve Russia of anything else. You can believe both of these things. I get really aggravated, especially when I see this amongst the right, because there’s so many gate. I have lots of issues to pick with the right right now. And one of them is this. The claim that if you criticize Ukraine in any way, if you criticize the way that the money, the aid given them has been distributed, if you criticize the story that I brought up, that’s I think one of the biggest offenses, the pension story, whatever you criticize, that somehow you are in the pocket of Vladimir Putin. It’s I that’s such an illiberal, idiotic take. And I’m seeing it over and over again, even on the right. I see people make this argument as as though one demands the other, as though one means the other when it absolutely does not mean that to have conservatives forgotten how to understand nuance. Or some on the right, I should say, because I feel like the people that are objecting to this and are being criticized, they’re the ones who are being criticized by the conservatives. The ones doing the criticizing are not. It’s not the same. We’re going to talk more about this. But this is exactly Audio Sun by 12 with Chris Murphy. It’s a Democrat talking point. Listen to this.

So it is absolutely shameful what is happening right now. The White House has become an arm of the Kremlin. I mean, keep in mind that when things were running the way that they wanted under Democrats, under people like Chris Murphy, Chris Murphy had no objections. They had no objections at all whatsoever when Russia first began annexing Crimea or taking over Crimea. And when everything kicking off in Rwanda and then, of course, don’t forget, you had you had Democrats go out and blame a video for what happened in Benghazi. Literally went out and they blamed a video that had been up on the Internet for years already that had no views. And they tried to scapegoat that video and blame a terror attack and the deaths of Americans on it. Never forget what these people did. These were the same individuals that looked the other way when Russia acquired a Ukrainian facilitation company or sorry, uranium facilitation company. I like the name of this robot lander. It’s a robotic lander that a privately built spacecraft that successfully landed on the moon called Blue Ghost. It touched down on the lunar surface early on Sunday. It’s the apparently, you know, only one other entities have ever been able to accomplish this. It was in orbit around the moon for about two weeks and then it did its descent to It’s the Texas-based company Firefly Aerospace that developed the craft. It was about 3.30 in the morning on Sunday when it touched down. So, huge. The only other one, Intuitive Machines, their Odysseus lander pulled off. That was back in February. So, at some point, we’re just going to have a bunch of little landers on the moon. But that’s neat. It’s a private company that did it. So Walmart’s CEO is warning that food prices are causing frustration and pain. They’re now coming around to something that we’ve been talking about for years on this program, but they said was just in our heads. But the CEO said that American consumers, they’re showing signs of stress as food prices remain stubbornly high. And people are turning running out of money. Why do people do it? The reason I ask this is because there’s a video. As you know, over the weekend, the story came out where they said that Norway was denying the refueling of a U.S. nuclear sub. I’m like, well, forgive me. I don’t know much about the… Nuclear power of a sub, but I would just think if it’s a nuclear powered sub cane, probably doesn’t take a lot of gas. Just saying. Anyway. But I saw this, this headline over the weekend and I looked into it. because that was everywhere. Norway was denying the refueling of one of our subs and everyone was raging at Norway. And I don’t think I’ve really had a bone to pick with Norway personally. Do we have to view everything in that lens either, by the way? But I saw this, this headline, it said Norway fuel giant refuses because at first the headlines were making it sound like Norway was turning our subs away. Even Mike Lee, Senator Mike Lee had posted about this. said the Norwegian petroleum giant Haltback Bunkers has declared that it will no longer help the U.S. Navy. Mike Lee had tweeted about it. He said, good time to exit NATO. Now, I want to stop there because I didn’t know that, again, checks notes, Haltback Bunkers was particularly itself a party to NATO for Norway. But, you know, what do I know? I’m just a citizen. It’s a tiny little company. They have one employee, like one literally on the books employee. In 2023, their net revenue was $1.4 million. They’re not a big player. Let’s put it like this. They’re not a big player. But the way that it was presented is, and the dancing will all wrap up into it here shortly. The way that it was presented was that Norway was refusing to refuel. But it wasn’t. It was this Holtbach Bunkers, tiny little bitsy fueling company, not even a top player in Norway, much less the world. It was one company that said that they weren’t going to do it after the dust up in the White House with Zelensky, etc. Well. I had retweeted it and I said, well, it’s really important to note that this is a private company, not the Norwegian government, because Mike Lee is usually pretty measured. But I thought that was like a very dramatic drama kind of response. Are we not supposed to say that about Republicans because we’re supposed to be hive mind even in their bad decisions? I don’t subscribe to that view. So he had said, good time to exit NATO. It’s, again, a tiny little bitsy private company. Norway was quick to act because apparently in order to be in the business that this company is in, you have to sign a contract where you agree to XYZ and them refusing to refuel a naval vessel for the U.S. That was considered a violation of that contract. So their actual defense minister got involved pretty quick and shut it down. Before the headlines were even around the world, they had it already remedied. But that didn’t stop the amplification of this narrative that it was Norway that did it. And it wasn’t. I’m like, why are we trying to kick on Norway? They didn’t do any. It’s like it’s like everybody blaming us for AOC. That’s not fair. And she’s like one little dinky person in Congress. And she represents a tiny little bitty district. Hardly representative of the country. I think you would agree. So Norway’s defense minister immediately got involved. They said not only did that violate a contract they had to refuel, but also they said that the U.S. naval vessels would have zero issue getting any and every supply that they needed. They put out an official statement. I just think it’s kind of funny to bring this up. Because this video was what was being shared. People were so mad at Norway. Apparently this is some of the Norwegian military stuff. We can’t play the music. Because I don’t actually know if that’s the music that they were using. I read a thing where they were apparently dancing to like some Norwegian music. Is that true? I don’t know. I don’t care enough, actually, on this. But this was being played and everyone was going after Norway. Like, look at these guys. And I guess trying to show that they are a lack of military preparedness as evidenced by the TikTok videos. This is why I’m like, why are we, A, always doing TikTok videos? And B, why are we trying to say that a split second of video discredits an ally because of something a private company did that they’re through stupidity and misunderstandings and amplification of bad narratives, the entire country of Norway is being blamed for? Wait, am I just supposed to go along with the video and be like, that’s so bad, blah, blah, cucks. I don’t know. Isn’t that what the, you got to throw a cuck in there, right? Yeah. You know that meme of the soldier who’s dropping a grenade down a stairwell? That could just be the word cuck, and then it just immediately blows everything up. Cain wants me to stop saying it. But to that, and aside from this, if I can just touch on this video for a moment. I’m just going to say, I find it a little difficult to make fun of their military dancing in a TikTok video when literally just not even six months ago, we had high-ranking members that walked into the DOD, guys with the frankenbeans and a skirt with lipstick. So, You know, come on. Glass houses, everybody. Yeah, glass houses, everybody. Let’s just stop. I know I hear you, but this is dumb. Stop. We’re not doing this. I’m not doing this. I have one other quick point and then I’m going to move on. And this is a major point because it involves Lord of the Rings. Oh, I love how Cain has all the optimism in the world before we trot this out because it involves one of his favorite people. So Cain likes Lord of the Rings, hates old people, and loves Joy Reid. What? Because you said they’re all mean. It’s true. You can’t trust them. That’s what Cain says. I disagree. Joy Reid tweeted this. Quote, we will never be a monarchy. Know that. To quote the Lord of the Ring trilogy, Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king. Okay. Okay. First off, the fact that she quoted that. Tell me that you’ve never read the books, much less have seen the trilogy without telling me that you’ve never read the books or much less seen the trilogy. So she had put this out over the weekend. And I could not let this stand. I immediately had to get involved because this is a big issue. You can’t sit here and misrepresent the Lord of the Rings this way. Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king. She’s quoting Faramir, who is the brother of Boromir, who they are the sons of the dictatorial usurper. who is there, the steward of the throne of Gondor. And everybody knows he’s the guy who yeeted himself off of the top while he was on fire because he went nuts, right? He was crazy. But this was before Faramir saw the light. And Faramir had more discipline and strength of mind than Boromir did. Although Boromir in the end was redeemed. He gave his life. But Faramir recognized early on. He was saying Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king. Cain, what is the third book called? I have no idea. Oh, The Return of the King. The Return of the King.

Yeah. Yeah. And that’s what she quotes. She quotes this. And it was from The Two Towers, by the way. Thank you. So be specific if you’re going to quote from the trilogy. It’s from The Two Towers. And she was quoting Faramir. And Faramir had that when they were arguing back and forth. Remember, this is before Faramir had his awakening. Just completely obliterates it. I’ve never, ever have given Joy Reid any kind of, you know, peace of mind at all whatsoever. Or really spent a lot of time on her. But this is something that shall not be tolerated. And the fact that she quotes the wrong side was insane. I thought she was going to, like, throw me out some orc quotes after that. One of the dumbest people alive and too stupid to be embarrassed about it. No wonder. No wonder. I mean, that this… And I don’t know. I just, I felt like, and that was, of course, in response because, you know, going after Trump, etc. These people, I think, allow this TDS… To take over all of the remaining space in their brain. So that’s where the knowledge would go. We got to talk about this Pam Bondi thing. How many people are mad over Pam Bondi not giving up the full Epstein files? I feel like a lot are. A lot are upset. Here’s the thing with the Epstein files. First off… Well, we knew that they were going to be all redacted. I don’t know how much can actually be if there is an ongoing investigation. But at the same time, I think unless you’re protecting a particular victim’s name, I think it’s got to be made public. But Pam Bondi knew this and was saying that she had it and read it and had been reading it. Did she not? She had said prior that she had had these files and had been reading them. They were on her desk before they released these nothing burgers. And then I noticed that the people that they released them to were all on social media. Apparently, some of them were copying and pasting the same response, much in the same way that Europe’s leaders were doing. I stand with Ukraine. It’s the same thing, just a different issue. I saw a lot of people reposting the responses of, you know, we went there. Yes, we went. We got a binder, etc., I if it had been about journalism, I think there would have been some actual due diligence in journalism that had been done by the individuals that got binders. But instead, everyone wanted to get photos and share it on social media and then not really write much more about it. So that was bad. That was a big, bad op. And I think the people that were involved in it should be a little embarrassed, honestly. The second thing is, why was she out there telling everybody that? That she was reading it and had all this information if she clearly didn’t have it. Apparently, then she went back and was going after the FBI because she was sort of like it was like a bait and switch. And then it seemed like Kash Patel and her were getting into an argument over this. because she was promised the release of these other files, and it ended up being like a bunch of nothing burgers. She said that more were being released, but she sent out this letter to Patel demanding the full release, which again, in all of this, all of everything that she had ever said about it leading up to this point, I mean, I got the impression, Cain, that it was on her desk, and she had read everything. I mean, she literally said that the files were on her desk, but she had also said that she had been reading it. So either someone stole it and tricked her or she lied. I don’t know. She had said there will be no withholdings or limitations to my or your access, etc, etc. But she blasted this out and now it looks like they’re in. It’s like a little bit of a tiff. She says that agents coming out of New York, the Southern District of New York, were withholding these documents and that ultimately it comes from that Southern District or from the FBI up in New York. And apparently it was only, what, not even 100 pages and it was all heavily redacted. And there was nothing new in there. It was basically a rehash of all of the stuff that was already made public. I just I think that was a bad move to make. I don’t think that that was an op necessarily designed by Trump’s innermost circle. But someone clearly gave the go ahead for it. They were apparently at the White House for a totally different thing. And then before Bondi can even make a statement about it, those binders were apparently handed out. I just wondered why there wasn’t a statement from Bondi on it, why there wasn’t anything from Patel on it. All of a sudden you had these people walking out, you know, parading this stuff, which left a bad taste in a lot of other, quote unquote, I guess, influencers’ mouths. I don’t know. I hate this whole thing. But we didn’t learn anything else. And I saw some people out there saying promises kept. No, well, that wasn’t. That hasn’t been fulfilled yet. That debt is still owed. But it just was a mess. It was a mess. It was a bad op. So I don’t know who in the Trump administration orchestrated that, but they need to not ever be allowed to orchestrate anything regarding the media, anything again. Just get him away. Get him away from the White House. It was bad. But what is, are we going to have, is more going to be released? I don’t know. We’ll come back to this because we’ve got to get moving. It was like a circle and they, it wasn’t like chanting. I was like, Oh, you guys going to play magic, the gathering what’s happening. And they all got together and they were like singing. And then they had this one white chick with dreadlocks. And I have a whole other criticism for that. They were bad. It just looked like she had never, it didn’t even look like dreadlocks. And she was the one in charge of percussion, could not keep a beat. And I just gradually like faded further and further into the periphery until you could no longer see me like Homer Simpson, just melting into the shrubbery. Because it was so embarrassing. It was so cringe. And they’ve never changed. They keep doing. I don’t know if that ever was something that attracted people to join the cause back in the day. But it like repels. It repelled me. It was. I just. I don’t understand why they all do this. They all got to get together and they sing. All right. Coming up. We are working hard to do our responsibility to keep the government open. Democrats have to help negotiate this, and they’ve, to this point, shown no interest in finding a reasonable solution for that.

So we still have that, just by the way, we still have that. The budget battle that hasn’t gone away. I know everyone’s like, are we done with the battles yet? I know it hasn’t really gone away. And it’s something that we have to that we’re going to have to still fight because Republicans are worried about being blamed for a shutdown. They’re just they’re so skittish still to this day. Over fighting these false narratives coming out from the left. Welcome back to the program. By the way, Dana Lash with you. We’re at the top of this second hour. And this is one of the one of the it’s not getting as much attention, but it needs to. It desperately needs to, especially when you see that so many Republicans just aren’t eager to. Implement and do everything that’s that’s needed to be done as recommended by Doge. And otherwise, you know, I keep warning about this and I, you know, I’ve had a couple of people say to stop being so doom and gloom. I’m not being doom and gloom. Oh, my gosh, Kane.

How dare you speak on things that are happening?

Am I supposed to lie to people? I’ve actually had people that have been very upset with me saying that you’re just doom and gloom. Actually, I’m not, if anything. But I really feel like you deserve to know what’s happening with our tax dollars and our rate of spending. And like, for instance, if we have the CR, if we do the CR, you realize that This is just continuing the Biden levels of spending. Does everyone know what that means? That means that all of the spending objectives that Biden previously incorporated into these bills or resolutions, that it’s a continuation of that, like literally. Right now, Johnson wants, he wants a clean CR going through fall, right? September, like towards the end of September. He wants a CR going towards the end of September. And really, there’s no codification of any of the recommended Doge cuts that he’s that they’re pushing to incorporate that. And then guess what happens? When we get to September and then it’s time to put these cuts in, guess what? Kane, they’re not going to have the fight. Oh, we’re going to have to wait until next time before we put those cuts in. And then when the fight comes again, Kane, they’re going to have to wait until next time to put those cuts in to implement this. Because we have government funding in 11 days. And it’s really John Thune and Mike Johnson that have got to get this done. But they’re going to have to peel off some Democrats to make it happen because they don’t have a big enough. Do you see now why some of us were very, we’re, we’re telling POTUS to stop picking from the house for his cabinet. Do you see it now? Do you see why? Because we wanted to be able to get going and run with us. So as it is right now, barely, there’s barely scraping by and they’re going to have to pick off some Democrat voters to make this happen. I mean, that’s, that’s just the way that it is. Uh, I mean, 11 days, government funding expires. You know, they’re going to run this down, you know, right down to the end of it. But without the permanence of any of the recommended cuts from Doge, I mean, this isn’t a win. You’re just kicking the can down the road. You actually have to make cuts in order to have this happen. Otherwise, Trump’s mandate is entirely compromised and we’re not going to get anything done to have a clean, continuing resolution. And that’s the language they like to say. That means that they’re not going. Whenever you hear that phrase, whenever you hear them say, oh, we’re going to have a clean, continuing resolution, they’re continuing the current rate of spending as established by the previous administration. And they are not making permanent a single recommended cut from Doge. Not one. Also not made permanent are the tax cuts.

That’s the tax cuts. I mean, there’s really only one way to do this. You absolutely, they have to pass this or else. I mean, that’s it. Trump’s hands don’t rest, his legacy doesn’t rest in the actions of executive orders. His legacy rests in the hands of those people in Congress that are able or not able to implement everything that has been recommended and everything that was promised as it pertains to spending. I mean, this is just bad. Nothing about this is good. So he says he wants a clean CR. Whenever you hear the clean CR again, that’s just a signal that they’re going to be spending more, more and more. Literally, it’s the continuing Biden structure. They’re not serious about spending. And what gets me is that I think Trump is endorsing this. Trump is endorsing, implementing, and this is one of the things that Justin Amash had said, he’s endorsing the CR all the way through September, and that goes to September 30th. So again, it means that the Biden levels of spending, all the Biden priorities, are extended all the way through the end of September, through that fiscal year. So, Instead of having one of the things that was noted, too, is that it’s going to be one giant spending bill where everything is thrown in instead of separating it up into smaller bills that allows for a little bit more scrutiny and allows for more changes. And Republicans have only so far… Kind of given. Well, Republicans have only given lip service to Doge. All these Republicans, including your favorites that you’ve seen on Fox and going on and on and talking about this or that are going on this podcast, that podcast. Not a single one of them have done anything more than give lip service to the recommended cuts and wasteful spending. Not one. Not one. They’re making excuses for it. We are literally going to get another full fiscal year of Biden spending. So you tell me if you think that that’s and I’m not you can get mad at me. I’m not lying. I’m not exaggerating it. That is the way of it. You are getting a full continued year of Biden’s spending. Trump only has four years. So of those four fiscal years, for one of them, we’re going to continue with the last administration. I just don’t think they care about fixing it. And I know everyone is, I think, so happy that they won something, that they feel like they’ve won something. You have to make your wins count, right? We play Bernie Sanders. This is the hang on. Senator, very quickly, we are just 12 days away from a potential government shutdown. House Speaker Mike Johnson says Democrats have a significant role to play to keep the government open. Some Democrats are saying they’re not going to vote for a government spending bill that includes Elon Musk’s cuts. Will you will you vote for a bill to keep the government open if it includes those cuts?

Well, we don’t have a bill right now, but I will tell you this. Last I heard, the Republicans control the White House, the House, and the Senate. And I hope they present us with a budget that works for working people, not just for the billionaires.

See, they’re going to try to fearmonger them and say, well, they want to shut this government down. This is what they want to do. They want to take all this down. And that actually hasn’t worked. The fearmongering doesn’t actually work. It didn’t work back in 2010 when Democrats really hammered at home and that’s when Republicans held the line. You might remember that fight. Republicans held the line and they actually ended up taking a lot of seats in midterms because people looked at that as this party delivering on its promises. But now with this, I don’t know What they think this is, they just don’t care. I have to think that they simply don’t care. They have no motivation and they don’t have the stomach to make the sorts of proposals to limit spending that’s needed. We’re getting a full year of Biden spending. That’s what it is. I mean, we could… One of the things that some lawmakers have suggested is limiting expenditures to average annual revenue collected in the three prior years. That’s actually not a bad idea. But there’s just no effort. And I have to say… The president, he has a lot of leverage and he has a lot of power, but it is limited. And I’m not just talking about constitutional restraints. I mean, as we edge closer to 2028, his influence will start to wane. Lawmakers will have less of a reason to listen to him after midterms. Because he won’t hold the lever as to whether or not they can help get elected. This is true with every elected leader. no matter their popularity. Once they term out, their ability, their coattails, taking people across the threshold, so to speak, electorally, they shorten dramatically. And this isn’t any different. So this is why you say they’ve got, if they haven’t done any of this by fall, they’re never going to do it. And then this will have been one big optic for nothing. Just like the Epstein files were one big optic. Actually, the more I think about that, the madder I do get. You don’t sit here and tell people that you’ve been reading this salacious stuff and that it’s on your desk and then not produce. I will say I did warn people. I was saying that there are some things in some certain people’s past at the DOJ that might make me hesitant to trust them. Well, can’t say I didn’t warn you. I have to say this. But this story with this with the cutting the spending and I just I don’t know. Audio sound by 19. This is Johnson saying Medicaid and Medicare cuts are off the table. Then he adds this.

Listen, you know, you have been asked this before, Mr. Speaker, but I need to get you on the record here again. Our cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security off the table.

Yes, and don’t take my word for it, Kristen. Go do a word search of the budget resolution that we passed on Tuesday. There is not one mention of Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security. It’s not in the bill because we haven’t set the policy.

Why don’t they focus on all the other spending? And first off, can we stop pretending like we have any money in Social Security? It’s gone. They have raided that to pay for so many other things. It’s a giant Ponzi scheme. It is. I’ve said this before, and people have been outraged, but it’s true. We’ve got to stop pretending that it’s not insolvent. They’ve been rating it forever, but it’s, you can’t really, how do you make a cut to something that is people, that’s their money that they were forced to pay into? The government demanded a cut of your money and they said they were going to guard it for safekeeping. How would you cut that? You have people who paid into it their whole entire lives. You would have to give them a refund of everything that you’ve taken from them. We have a lot more on the way, including… There was a nice little pro-family speech at the Oscars. I thought that Kiernan Culkin was going to get zapped by lightning for saying that in the… the hedonistic den of lawlessness and disorder that was the Dolby Theater, right? But I don’t know. I watched some of the Oscars last night. For those of you rejoining, bottom of the second hour, Dana Lash with you. I don’t normally do it, but I started watching the Oscars because my friend, the late Andrew Breitbart, who passed away March 1st, always watched the Oscars. And he said, if you want to watch it, even if you want to watch the fashions, don’t feel ashamed. You’ve got to tune into this. He’s like, you have to pay attention as to what people are creating. And he was always correct about it. So I didn’t feel a lot of shame in watching it. And I was thinking about all of this. They do the In Memoriam. And we had also just lost Gene Hackman, which I don’t know why, but that kind of surprised me. He’s one of those actors that hasn’t ever changed in front of my eyes. Growing up, he was a certain age. When I became a young adult, he was still that same age. And it’s just weird to think of him. He’s such a titan of acting. He’s been in everything I think I’ve ever seen. Um, I, I, the first movie I saw of his, actually, I was at my uncle’s house and it was the French connection. And I read an interview that Gene Hackman gave where he really didn’t like the character that he was playing, but he wanted to do it because it, those people exist and you need to be able to play those type of characters to show people kind of the range of humanity. And it was just really smart. He starred in so many films. He also starred in a number of films with our guest and our good friend and his friend, Nick Searcy. You know him from Justified. You know him from a ton of different movies. He’s a Peabody Award winner and some of my favorite characters. I think in that similar vein, Nick, first of all, welcome to the program. I think you have that ability to tap into that for the lack of a better way to put it, this reservoir of human knowledge where these certain types of characters exist and you have to play them unapologetically. And you also do that. Hackman did it and you do it as well because you’ve played a really interesting range of characters in your career. And you said you were inspired to do this because of Gene Hackman. Talk to me about your experience with that because I love hearing this about you.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, when I was growing up, you know, I was doing theater and I loved film and I wanted to get into it. And when I first saw Gene Hackman, I thought, well, he’s not that good looking. I could probably do this. And so he was really my inspiration. And, of course, watching him work over the years, I mean, he’s done so much. Some of the greatest roles, Prince Connection, you know, a movie that I love that very few people have seen is a movie called Twice in a Lifetime that he did with Anne Margaret, which I just thought was a terrific, terrific movie about divorce and the aftermath and all that. But I got the chance to do one movie with Gene. I got to meet him on Runaway Jury. And it was really a dream come true. I was so in awe of him for the first few days. I worked with him for about two weeks and I was so in awe of him for the first few days. I really couldn’t even speak to him. I couldn’t even couldn’t even look at him. And finally, it got so awkward that Gene actually broke the ice and started talking to me. Wow. Just so gracious, just such a wonderful man. And I have many, many funny stories about Gene, even in that short two weeks I was with him.
SPEAKER 17 :
I read one of them where you guys had to do a scene where he was supposed to launch a trash can at you. And he was asking you, OK, so we don’t want to hurt Nick in this. So we got to figure out, Nick, which way are you going to dodge? Are you going to go right or left? You’re like, I’m going to go left. And he did kind of he did ping you with the trash can. And then he apparently had made a bet over it. Tell me this is hysterical because I just I love hearing this aspect of this guy that we don’t know from from people who work with him.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, the director’s like, you know, I want I want Gene’s character to kick this trash can at you. He was frustrated with me. And the director said, well, let’s not hit Nick with it. You know, which way are you going to? And Gene goes, OK, which way are you going to go, Nick? And I said, I’ll I’ll duck that way. And so when Gene kicked it, he kicked it so that it hit me. He turned to the fellow next to him and said, OK, 10 bucks.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah, 10 bucks.
SPEAKER 10 :
Got it. It hit me. We’re talking with my favorite story about Jean. My favorite story about Jean is like, he had his own hair person in the makeup trailer. And she was very nice. And one day I got there earlier than Jean. And she said, you want me to do your hair like I do jeans? I go, sure. And because, you know, back then I had a little bit of hair. And she was just coloring it in. And so I’m sitting in Gene’s chair with Gene’s makeup person. And Gene walks into the makeup trailer. I jump up and I go, I’m sorry, Gene. I’m sorry. He goes, you’re doing hair. Why? You don’t have any.
SPEAKER 17 :
I have some, Gene. I’ve got some air. This is… Because he left Hollywood after a while, went to New Mexico. I was talking about the passing of Gene Hackman, age 95, and his wife and dog. He was just… I guess just felt he had accomplished what he wanted to accomplish and was done with Hollywood.
SPEAKER 10 :
I think… And this is just my conjecture. I don’t really know. Gene and I weren’t like… We didn’t call each other on the phone or anything. But I think that… Runaway Jury is one of his last, if not his last movie. And by then, I think he was kind of it wasn’t as much fun for him as it used to be, because I think it was harder for him. He i think at a certain point as an actor and i’m kind of reaching this point too it’s like it becomes more difficult to do the hearing goes the you know your mind isn’t quite as sharp as it used to be and i think gene was the type of person that if he couldn’t do it at the level that he’d been doing it it wasn’t going to be satisfying for him and he had other things that he wanted to do he was a painter and a writer and i said i think he just sort of said I’ve got enough. This is not as meaningful to me as it used to be.
SPEAKER 17 :
Who do you see, Nick, coming up in Hollywood now that can do these types of roles? Because I feel like not, and I definitely absolutely put you in this category because you have the ability. I mean, you’ve played characters that are lovable. You’ve played characters that are authoritative, but You as the viewer really support and you cheer those characters. You play characters that people absolutely have hated and you play them so well. People had difficulty separating you from the character. Who’s like that that you see?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I’ve played a lot of Democrats here and there. You know, I’m not sure. I mean, I think Philip Seymour Hoffman was in that category, but of course he’s gone. And I’m not sure there is going to be anybody like Gene. I mean, he had such a long and storied career. So many things. I mean, 40 or 50 years at the very top of the business.
SPEAKER 11 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 10 :
That is so difficult to do. I’m not sure. I’m not sure if we have anybody that is such an unconventional leading man. We have the Brad Pitts and we have the Leonardo DiCaprios and those types of guys, but Gene Hackman was a really unique sort of every man guy. And I don’t know that we have that except for maybe me.
SPEAKER 17 :
Except for me. And I actually agree with you on that. I’m not just saying that because I really do believe that you are like that. That’s when you were saying you got you were so inspired by Hackman. I realized that. He that’s right he is and this all makes so much sense when I look at your body of work and how you approach things as well do you do what he did do you like when you’re on set and this I don’t think I’ve ever asked you this do you get into your character where you just you want to stay in your character I guess it’s like somewhat like method acting and you don’t kind of talk to people on set because you’re in character and then when it’s over everybody’s best friends.
SPEAKER 10 :
Not really. I don’t do it that way. Sometimes, I guess, depending on the character. But very rarely am I like that. No, it’s more like It’s more like a switch for me. You know, I tend to work from kind of imaginary circumstances rather than that idea of using your own pain and your emotions to, you know, I try to imagine myself as a character. So when, you know, it’s like walking off stage, you just go, let me get a drink of water.
SPEAKER 17 :
Interesting. We’re talking with our good friend, Nick Searcy. You’ve been able to still continue. carve out a very and maintain your space in a very successful position doing very good films in Hollywood. And I really do think that you’re the exception because of your acting and your body of work. You’re like insulated because you’re too, you know how some people have what we would say is F you money. You kind of have an F you body of work, so to speak. Do you agree with that? Do you think that that’s kind of why?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I have a nephew attitude without the money.
SPEAKER 17 :
Well, that goes without saying.
SPEAKER 10 :
right um you know i have been very fortunate i mean a lot of the people that i’ve worked with over the years they they you know they knew my political you know beliefs or whatever but they they also knew me as a person so you know they knew my work and so they knew what i was going to deliver if i came there so i think i’ve been very fortunate in that way it may be catching up to me now because things have gotten so much more polarized in the last few years, you know, and especially if you’re in Hollywood and you dare to say out loud that you support President Trump, I mean, people are going to lose their minds. So, you know, but I’m still continuing to work. I have a couple of things in the hopper, and yeah, I’ve been very fortunate, and I really don’t know why. Maybe I’m not a big enough star for them to really pay attention to what I say. It’s not like… I think they don’t want to get told.
SPEAKER 17 :
I think they don’t want Nick Searcy to tell them off. I mean, they look online. They’re like, we don’t want that. So just let him go. We’re talking with our friend Nick Searcy. To that extent, I wanted to get your thoughts on what transpired Friday. in the Oval Office with Zelensky sitting there with Vance and Trump, because I, I may be wrong about this, but my perspective is a lot of people saw that and maybe some of the most hardcore critics of Trump were like, wow, Zelensky did not avail himself. He did not come off looking nice. And they, they actually seem sympathetic towards Trump, which really shocked me. Some of the people expressing that I wanted to get your take, because I know you were watching it and you were talking about it as well.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I mean, you know, for 40 minutes, Trump was as cordial as he could be. I think everybody thought they had a deal. And Zelensky, you know, had agreed to this deal. And then suddenly he started his nonsense. And I was like, I was glad. I mean, it’s like we are now seeing who Zelensky really is and what he really wants, because I think what what I took away from that meeting was that this guy doesn’t want peace. He wants the war to continue because that’s where his power comes from. That’s where his money comes from. He’s suspended elections because they’re at wartime now. So what if he if the war ends? He could lose everything, and everything he’s done could be revealed. I mean, the stuff that J.D. Vance said to him about him conscripting people off the street and forcing them into the battle, that’s a serious war crime. I mean, that’s bad stuff. So I think if the war ends, he’s very vulnerable.
SPEAKER 17 :
He seemed like a bad diplomat. It doesn’t seem like you go into a meeting like that. I just felt because I watched the whole thing. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something. I just got the sense that he was antagonistic, Nick, the entire time, like his body language. When he went in there, he was there for a brawl. And it really was weird to me because I like you. I was like, the deal was done. What is he doing?
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, I think he blew up the deal on purpose. I think he was counseled by Democrats like Chris Murphy and the people that met with him beforehand. I think they counseled him to do that. They encouraged him to blow it up simply because they wanted something to use on Trump. And that’s how sinister all of this is. I mean, the Democrat opposition. To to Trump is is just about Trump. And I believe that all the support that you see these people marching in the streets and Slava Ukraine. I mean, I don’t think they care about Ukraine. I don’t think they care about Zelensky. They just hate Trump. Yeah, they want anything they can get to use against him.
SPEAKER 17 :
They didn’t bring up any concerns under Obama-Biden when we had first Crimea was annexed. They didn’t say anything about that. They didn’t say anything about the Russian reset button with Hillary Clinton. They didn’t say anything about any of that. They were silent as church mice, not a peep. Nothing.
SPEAKER 10 :
Absolutely. Yeah. And I think part of it is, you know, there were kickbacks and we’re going to find that out eventually. There were kickbacks in the money that was flowing into Ukraine. Some of it was flowing back to Hunter and the big guy.

I feel like this is going to make a spectacular movie one day. And that you probably need to be in it because you’re like one of the few actors, I think, who could pull off some of these characters that really need that edge. Can we just stop, full stop, and have a moment here? Now, granted, I hate musicals to death. to actual physical death. Hate them. You know why? Because it doesn’t make sense. I am too much of a cynic to sit and think, these people just broke into song. And it makes sense. No one does this in real life. If I’m going to have a fantasy film about something, it’s not going to involve music. It’s going to involve aliens and stuff. And guns that don’t even exist in the real world. It’s going to involve those things. I like that kind of adventure kind of fantasy sort of thing. Not going to be that. I don’t know. I don’t get it. Wicked was… It was a musical that was nominated for an Oscar. And it’s a prequel to Wizard of Oz and the Witches in that. It’s like a novelty. If you liked it, more power to you. I just… And then you have Amelia Perez. So let’s talk about a couple of things here. Number one, we all are in agreement that we miss Joan Rivers because Joan Rivers served a purpose in that she was able to just grind everyone to dust. With her commentary on these awards things. It is just weird. I don’t. So Amelia Perez that had that dude that was a chick that pretended to be a chick and he ended up getting canceled because he wasn’t the right kind of trans. I don’t even know what that means. Can you cancel a trans person? Explain to me the math here. Because we were talking about this. Like, everybody really wanted you to know that that one chick from Wicked was bald, gay, and black. Like, all three. Like, BBG, right? You gotta be, like, black, bald, and gay. Like, she’s better than just a regular lesbian because she checks off more boxes. It’s like, whoever has the most baggage is the queen of… intersectional or the monarch of intersectional politics, right? Oh, you’re just a regular lesbian. You’re lame. You’ve got to be like bald and a lesbian or trans, whatever, a lesbian, or I don’t know, just something with ethnicity to be like, if you’re just a white lesbian, you’re just like white bread. Nobody cares. So you have to be all these other things. And I got really tired of hearing that in this whole lead up to award season because people were acting like that was this chick’s qualifications. Is she a good actress? Well, she’s a lesbian and bald. Like before you object. I think Jada did it first. Anyway. So I just nobody watches these out of all of the movies that were on the leaderboard. I didn’t see any of those. I did see Conclave and the ending of that. I just sat there like, are you kidding me? It’s a hermaphrodite. Are you kidding me? Did I give it away? I don’t care. Did you watch it, Cain? The Conclave thing? I liked all those actors, and I thought, maybe they’ll pull this off. Maybe it’s spooky. I don’t know. It wasn’t. It ended with some sad hermaphrodite, and I just was like, this is lame. It was such a letdown. I was hoping it would be an alien or something. You see where my mind goes? I’m like, if that dude isn’t an alien, then I don’t know. I didn’t watch any. Nobody watches this stuff anymore. These movies, no one goes and sees the movies that are in the running for best picture. None of them. I mean, whereas used to, there were good stories and everyone would go and see them. Now they’re not even good stories. I mean, and also how many times are you going to do like the stripper makes good storyline? And that chick beat Demi Moore. Now, I didn’t see Demi Moore’s substance. I have a lot of friends who did, and they said it was terrifying. And, you know, I guess it’s terrifying if you’re scared of aging. I don’t know. But she apparently got a lot of accolades for that role. And then this is probably the only time she’s ever going to get nominated for an Oscar. And she got beat by some 25-year-old chick who played a stripper. And isn’t it other members of the Academy that vote on this? So it’s like your peers. It’s essentially a jury of your peers that vote on all this stuff. So they gave it to the 25-year-old stripper. Does that shock anybody that Hollywood would go for the chick who bared it all as opposed to the… Older lady who played the right. I don’t know. I’m just saying I just can we play Karen Karen Culkin’s remarks. Now we got to do it in a weird way for you watching. We have to show you a screen grab and then play the audio separately. So we don’t get deemed for copyright or even though it’s you know, this is literally fair use, but what of. I thought this was like one of the most wholesome moments of the evening. This is Macaulay Culkin’s little brother, Kieran Culkin, who won Best Supporting Actor for one of the series he was in. Watch this. This is his acceptance speech.

About a year ago I was on a stage like this and I very stupidly publicly said that I want a third kid from her because she said if I won the award I would, she would give me the kid. It turns out she said that because she didn’t think I was going to win. But, and people came up to her and were like, you know, really annoying her. I think it got to her. After the show, we’re walking through a parking lot. She’s holding the Emmy. We’re trying to find our car. Emily, you were there, so you’re a witness. And she goes, oh, God, I did say that. I guess I owe you a third kid. And I turned to her and I said, really, I want four. And she turned to me. I swear to God, this happened. It was just over a year ago. She said, I will give you four when you win an Oscar. I held my hand out, she shook it, and I have not brought it up once until just now. You remember that, honey? You do? Okay. Then I just have this to say to you, Jazz. Love of my life, ye of little faith. No pressure. I love you. I’m really sorry I did this again. And let’s get cracking on those kids. What do you say?

It was a great… That was a great moment. And everybody was laughing and he was just very genuine. And it was a very funny moment. And let’s get cracking on those kids. Four kids. So that was sweet. There wasn’t as many… I mean, there were some… politicized moment. You had some guy come out and talk about Gaza. And then you had, what’s her face? One of the Arquettes. Was it an Arquette who came out? No, it was Daryl Hannah, who looks like an Arquette. Daryl Hannah came out and said, Slava Ukraine or whatever. And everyone, because that’s the new COVID. Mask up. Wait, wrong thing. Wear the flag. They can’t. They’re all confused. Maybe if you wore the face masks, that are the flags. Oh, It’ll work. You’ll check both boxes. But yeah, I didn’t. I just I am bored to tears by everything that’s in Hollywood lately. That’s why I watch anime and and foreign horror films. Because the horror films here in the U.S. even have to be politically correct. It’s ridiculous. Now, a couple of other things to get into. Did you hear this? Honda is going to start producing the next Civic in Indiana, not in Mexico, due to tariffs. Due to tariffs. Interesting, is it not? So this came out. pulling the story up i had to get around all the anora stuff so this came up uh actually just was uh over the weekend that they that this was announced so they’re they’re moving production they’re well they’re they’re gonna save more by having an american workforce and not having the tariffs uh reuters has the story though but i would imagine that this is not going to be the first or last time that we see something like this they’re building it they said they’re skirting tariffs The production, they said, in Indiana is going to see about 210,000 civics a year. So that’s a pretty big… That’s a pretty big number. The production has been pushed to May 2028 from November 2027 to avoid. And I think it’s going to be more than just civics, but I think civics is going to that’s going to be the biggest, I guess, model. And they said that’s all to avoid the 25 percent tariff on all of the taxes and all of that stuff. So interesting. One of the things that I’m not going to have time to dive into it too much today, but we’re going to talk about it this week. Is this story of what they’re doing in Texas? I don’t know if you’ve heard a lot about this. I don’t know what it’s like this. This THC fight. So Texas is considering banning. THC, which is, I guess, cane. It’s like in a lot of gummies. I have a friend who has a company where they make this, and a lot of veterans use it, especially veterans that they were trying to do, and I’m not going to say this right. Psilocybin. Yeah, no, that’s right. Oh, I got it right. It’s a lot of consonants in that. It’s like people aren’t getting high on shrooms. They’re dealing like combat troops are trying to find non-opioid ways to deal with PTSD. And this is one of them. And a lot of them use these products that have like CBD and THC in them to help with PTSD. And apparently in Texas, they’re considering putting a ban on everything. Are we now back to the government telling you that, again, the same government that locked everybody down for COVID, even in Texas, and was arresting people for trying to make a living in Texas, the same government’s now going to be like, we’re going to start banning things. The same one that was promoting vaccines. Oh, sorry, injections. This is something we’re going to be talking about this week. All right. This is a very weird headline. A blind Canadian man has his own tooth surgically planted in his eye to restore sight. Did you say eye tooth? Yeah, I don’t know. It’s a tooth in eye surgery. It sounds weird. Apparently, this is a procedure that they’ve used in other parts of the world. It’s a rare operation. Even if you’re an eye surgeon, said this ophthalmologist, they say that the procedure, which I’m not even going to pronounce, and it’s about 30 words long, uses their own tooth to craft a support structure for an artificial cornea. The operation is done in two parts. You have and that ends up with you have basically your tooth is about there for like three months. And then it creates this like structure for them to put in a plastic optical lens to kind of shorten it down. So very I’d never would have thought of that. Who was like, let’s put your tooth in. I mean, you know, good on medicine. You know, a train struck a vehicle of an alleged impaired driver. After, this is WSBT, after the girlfriend apparently exposed herself. What? A crash and arrest. It was on a set of railroad tracks. The guy made it out safely from his car before it was hit by a Norfolk Southern train in La Porte. It was 2 a.m. He was going to his girlfriend’s house to watch the Super Bowl, after watching the Super Bowl. And he was distracted because she was, he was on FaceTime. So I think, okay, first off, this is, just stop it. He was on FaceTime with her. And she was being inappropriate. And it distracted him. And that’s ended up what happening. So was it her that was distracting him? Or should he not have been on FaceTime while driving in the first place? He also did have a blood alcohol of 2.73. Or sorry, .273. Sorry. Yeah, still. Let’s see. Oh, an Alabama woman was arrested in Arkansas after she tried to sell a baby. Bye bye baby is not a literal thing. 20 year old Amber Booth is accused of accepting compensation for a Class C felony. She was trying to sell her baby for clothes and cash. Oh, man. Most Europeans, it’s two surveys. They’re both from The Guardian. Most Europeans feel Ukraine’s not getting enough Western support. And then but only a minority think their own country should actually increase support. That doesn’t seem to work. On this and many other issues, we go to our good friend Stephen Yates, who has served in not one but two previous presidential administrations discussing foreign policy with a specific focus on China. And of course, he’s a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation. He joins us now. Mr. Yates, always good to see you. I have been waiting all weekend to ask you your thoughts as to what transpired in the Oval Office on Friday, sir.

Well, it is needless to say breathtaking to watch someone basically make all the world’s leaders have to come to them. And then basically for three full years, just allow helium to inflate their heads so much that you wear what you choose to wear, you say what you choose to say. And no matter what you say or do, people just hold you up on a pedestal and treat you like a hero. All of a sudden after three years, this war is not getting better. You’re not taking more of your territory back. You don’t have more population or more armaments. And you want to come and ask for more help. And yet you still have this air about you that you’re the man, you’re Superman. And somehow everyone is just going to let you do your performance art and all will work out. And so you have the vice president of the United States, the secretary of state, the secretary of treasury, all working on this minerals agreement, which sounds boring, maybe it is, but it was the biggest blessing Ukraine could have had by way of assurances from the United States. And Zelenskyy insists on not just stiffing all of them, he wants to go all the way to Washington, waste the first 40 minutes of an Oval Office meeting, and then just let loose as the worst skunk at a garden party there ever was in the Oval Office. I literally have never seen someone self-immolate like this, making his own delegation blanch and border on tears during and immediately after the exchange. And then, worse than all of them, you’ve got the American left that just wants to go Slava Ukraine. Like, wait a minute. So you’re for unlimited, untransparent money going over there, but we didn’t have enough money for a wall. You’re for… This person just coming in wearing whatever and people can say it doesn’t not a big deal, what have you. Elon Musk wears a hat. Well, when you’re a gazillion, billion, trillionaire, whatever he is.

He’s not asking for money.

And you’re slashing waste, fraud and abuse. You can wear a clown suit if you want as far as I’m concerned. But when you come in begging for money, I was always told you better look the part, use your manners words. and express gratitude when things are worked out. So the whole thing just blew my mind. The only thing that makes sense to me is that he intentionally blew it up. And I don’t know who advised him of that. I don’t know if it was Senate Dems. I don’t know if it was the sort of leftist Euro trash that thought this was going to be good for them. But I don’t see any good coming from this if I’m European or Ukraine. And the only thing I’d spike at the end is I am so sick to death of people talking about Europe as if there are only allies. So this is how you treat an ally. This is how you treat someone in need. We had our ally Israel come to the Oval Office. Perfect example of how to have a meeting. We had our ally Japan come to the Oval Office. Perfect example of how to have a meeting. So this is this has nothing to do with how we treat allies or how Trump treats allies. Those were beautiful meetings, as Trump might say. This was Zelensky. And it turns out this guy isn’t smart, isn’t strong. And sounds like even Lindsey Graham’s lost his taste for this guy remaining leader of Ukraine. I don’t know. I was blown away.
SPEAKER 17 :
I mean, when you bring that up, talking with our good friend Stephen Yates at Yates comes on X. When you met you mentioned Lindsey Graham, when when you lose Lindsey Graham. That that’s when my jaw dropped. I mean, I was shocked that all of this played out the way that it did. And Zelensky, I mean, I watched all that. I mean, he just he was just super antagonistic the whole time. And I felt like he was trying to subtly land some jabs here and there. And I also got the impression, too. There’s the story that a flashback story that came out over the weekend that recalled when apparently he and Joe Biden. had a heated exchange of words at which biden said you know you ought to be a little bit grateful so it sounds like this guy has been able just like to be let loose and run roughshod over the last administration and i get the sense that he thought he would be able to continue this did you get that did you get that sense
SPEAKER 22 :
Yeah, although that is a dramatic misreading of the room. I don’t know how anyone could be so blind.

He’s not a diplomat.
SPEAKER 22 :
All of Trump’s first term and the things that he campaigned on and talked about, all of his entire campaign coming back into the White House. Forget the fact that he won the popular vote. This wasn’t a hidden campaign issue. This was a central campaign issue. It really was one of those binary choices. If you wanted to continue to basically butter his bread and let this fight go on forever, then you vote Biden-Harris. And if you’re sick of unlimited money with no rational end state and you want forever wars to stop, and you want Europe to pay their fair share and grow up and take care of their neighborhood, then you vote Trump-Vance. It wasn’t complicated. And we won the majority on that worldview. And there’s even some parts of Europe, even some parts of Ukraine that are probably going, what in the world are we doing? This guy is not a warrior. He’s an actor. And this isn’t working for us at this point. He wants to go and basically spit in the face of Donald Trump, not someone to pick a fight lightly with. And then you want to dance over to Europe as if Europe’s going to pick up what’s left behind. If that was going to work, the last three years would have been a cakewalk. Right. So I don’t get it. I’m just not smart enough to see this big one world magic that they plan to play out.

Were you impressed by the… orchestration of shared talking points from all of these European Union leaders. They didn’t even bother changing up their wording.
SPEAKER 22 :
No, this is basically the descendant of Michelle Obama’s hashtag diplomacy. It has the exact same effect. That was the beginning of global online virtue signaling masquerading for actually doing grown-up work. And it’s all Europeans are doing. And that’s kind of what you were alluding to. Well, yeah, more, more, more. Just not more from us.
SPEAKER 17 :
Yeah.

Not just the perfect spoiled brat attitude you expect from the global left.
SPEAKER 17 :
How much? And I wanted not to interrupt you, but you mentioned, too, that, you know, he’s a you know, Zelensky is just a comedian. You know, he’s he’s a showman. You know, Trump. did that as a consequence of being a business person. He just was like, here’s a sort of a side thing that I can do while I’m running businesses, whereas Zelensky doesn’t have that. How much of the current state, the problems with the current state that they’re in, how much is that, can you attribute to Zelensky actually not having any kind of diplomatic background and sort of, is he just a patsy? Like, I’m trying to understand this guy. Yeah.
SPEAKER 22 :
I just, number one, in the first part of the war, I honestly was impressed with how the Ukrainians stood up. And I thought that there is a role for a showman in trying to rally your people and speak strategically and all of that. In the early stages, I might have given some props for being able to stand up against what seemed like insurmountable odds. But over time, that wears off. And at some point, you know, you also, I think he just got too used to being able to speak and assuming everyone’s just listening to every word he says. And the only response anyone really had had for years was adoration. He hasn’t faced criticism. It’s I think literally illegal to criticize him at home. And so, and internationally, it’s all, sort of kid gloves and hero worship. And that’s, that’s really worship by proxy through him to the Ukrainian people. But I think he’s taken it personally. And so he has no experience as sort of like a coddled athlete that has gone through rounds and rounds of practice and pressing the coaches. but hasn’t had full contact on the field, all of a sudden you get zapped one time on the first play. And it’s like, wait a minute, that wasn’t fair. And everyone’s coming in. Oh yeah, that wasn’t fair. That was a bad hit. No, this is what happens when you enter the arena. But Trump was talking deal-making language. What cards do you have or not have? Can you win without us? This is all defining leverage that you either have or you don’t have. And in every single case, Ukraine doesn’t have. But Zelensky wanted to lean on his seat, the smaller physical man, the smaller intellectual man, and then pick a fight with J.D. Vance over what does this diplomacy mean? I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
SPEAKER 17 :
It was wild talking with our friend Stephen Yates at Yates Comes On X. I wanted to ask you, too, related to this, a couple of different stories highlight how Zelensky’s. is suggesting, well, you know, if we’re not going to have a strong alliance here, then maybe I need to go explore my options with China, which to me seems hokey and desperate. And I think I would hope that the world sees it because China is going to be on Russia. Is there something they can glean from Ukraine? Is there what do you make of that?
SPEAKER 22 :
But that’s just what exposes the hero of the global left essentially has no real principles or vision of If you’re going to say things like that, because China has singularly empowered the Russian war machine more than anyone else on the planet, maybe a second place Europe by having their economic relationships through all this, but China has done a ton. to help this meat grinder pro go forward for years now. So saying, yeah, we’re just gonna make a deal with them is just bewildering beyond belief. But it also gets at the heart of another thing that I think was very strategic about what the Trump team was doing. The big mistake that was done in Afghanistan after the travesty of the withdrawal and leaving our equipment behind was just leaving Afghanistan to be there for all the vultures with China in the lead to come and get the mineral deposits and other riches out of Afghanistan when we left. And so we don’t want to have given $200 billion in aid and help try to secure a peace only to have China to come in and opportunistically take mineral rights that would be good for our competition with this axis of do no good. And so I thought that this minerals deal was surprisingly more strategic than it seemed on its surface. And some of it was getting at that post-war point reality and not letting those who made the war worse benefit from the peace that we try to carve out.
SPEAKER 17 :
That’s a good way to put it. It looks like they’re going to sign that. After all this dust up, he’s going to come and sign it anyway. So he did all that and got all that egg on his face for nothing. Before I let you go, I guess I’m interpreting this as a big win against China as it relates to Panama. A headline, China fumes at U.S. as Panama pulls out of key agreement with Beijing. We’ve talked about this before. This has been a long time coming, but Now that Panama is getting out of Belt and Road and is at least demonstrating that they’re more in step with the United States than they are with China. How much how much of a setback is that for China that’s really worked hard to get their foot secured in that part of the world?
SPEAKER 22 :
On Central America and I hope in broader Latin America, I think it’s a major, major signal. It definitely is not just one of those where someone goes lukewarm. on this very cynical Belt and Road Initiative, they’re formally withdrawing. And it basically is also an acknowledgement that America, when we step in and do meaningful things, and Secretary Rubio made this front and center early, we have options and partners to do things differently in our own neighborhood. And we need to, if we wanna stop this flow of illegal migration, if we want to stop the spread of corruption and the seeds of the trouble in our own hemisphere, we gotta do some things here. And if we can rebalance our supply chains to this theater, all the better. And so Panama is kind of a down payment on that turn. I think it’s meaningful. And worth following up on more China, I think, is signaling they see it as meaningful. And that’s why you’re getting the temper tantrum.

That the Corporate Transparency Act, they’re not going to enforce the penalties or fines associated with that beneficial ownership information reporting rule that Carol Roth has talked about for quite some time. So they said that they’re issuing a proposed rulemaking. It’s going to narrow the scope. They’re not. So they’re not there. That’s a huge, huge, huge thing. They’re not going to enforce any penalties or fines against anybody or beneficial owners regarding this forthcoming rule. So that’s good. That was a major thing.
