It’s a welfare check for everybody. You slept on it. Let’s all stipulate the Trump Truth Social post, not his best moment. I cried out for context. Did you hear my cry for context? How did it strike you and how are you doing?
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, I’m fine. I mean, you know, it’s unfortunate. It was something that I’m not going to defend. I don’t think anybody… Nobody has.
SPEAKER 01 :
Nobody’s really… Okay, I can find somebody on the line that says, it was awesome. I’m glad he kicked Rob Reiner in the nuts. Sure, but nobody defended it in the terms of saying it was really great. But there is something weird about getting finger-wagged and lectured about it from people who said nothing as Rob Reiner and millions of others called him Hitler for 10 years. So, excuse me.
SPEAKER 02 :
there are two there are two reasons to try to defend it and there are people that are trying to defend it and the two the two reasons are number one we’re tired of the way they’ve tried to destroy him and our inclination is to defend him uh when they come at him because they did try to kill him they tried to ruin his life and put him in prison for the rest of his life and so there’s this instinct we have to not pile on and i incidentally i possess that instinct i don’t want to pile right at all no not not not pile on at all exactly right and i’m not going to pile on but i’m not going to defend it and nobody can it’s not it’s not defensible but number two the reason some people are trying to defend it contrary to your pretense that they’re not is that we don’t want to be people don’t want to project uh an image of weakness And I get that, too.
SPEAKER 01 :
It’s not weakness to be gracious. No, no, no. It’s not weakness to zip it. We don’t go.
SPEAKER 02 :
No, no, no. There are people. Look, you look at the Kurt Schlichter and Greg Gutfeld types. Kurt is saying that anybody who’s not fully embracing Trump on this is a sissy. is a wimp, is a weasel, and Kurt doesn’t want to project an image of weakness to our political opponents. And I kind of get that, too, because you can’t show weakness in this political war we’re in. They smell that. They hone in on that weakness, and they’ll try to destroy our side. So I get that, too.
SPEAKER 01 :
I really do. Having mentioned Kurt, I now know a little of what you’re talking about. It’s not so much that it would have been weak for Trump to not savage Rob Reiner, but that people are coming after Kurt Schlichter, coming after me, coming after you, coming after me. They, like, require us. to just kick Trump right in the nads for this, and do it incessantly for a full day, the way this weasel Eric Erickson is, the way a bunch of other Republican weasels are. The left is predictably doing it, but they’re calling on our side to do it. This is your guy. This is your guy. And people are identifying… And I think it would be weak for us to buckle under that pressure. I didn’t even break a sweat doing it. I know you can do it, too. It is absolutely possible to say about that Trump Truth Social post, sir, not your best moment. Let’s not be that way. While at the same time crying out at the ridiculousness of the people who are telling us that we should savage him for it. When we have stronger borders, a safer nation, sanity busting out all around. That’s what I care about.
SPEAKER 02 :
I like what Scott Jennings said about it. And Scott, of course, and I are going to co-host a big cruise next November. And we’ve already kind of given everybody an early sneak peek, early access to getting the itinerary. If you love Scott’s work over on CNN, and, of course, he’s joined us at the Salem Radio Network. He’s our new colleague. And there’s going to be a big announcement. They have re-upped with him, and there’s going to be a big announcement about the first of the year and Scott taking over one of the network slots here at Salem. And, incidentally, speaking of Scott, he’s got a new book out, and I thought it would be kind of neat. This book is called A Revolution of Common Sense, How Donald Trump Stormed Washington and Fought for Western Civilization. And which is perfect. The timing of this is perfect because Western civilization is literally under attack right now. And we got, we’re going to, I want to get to that with you in just a moment. We got, cause I want to talk about Australia. I want to talk about Brown university and what they’re not telling us about Brown. I want to get to all of that. But in any event, I thought it would be kind of cool in the final days of our big angel tree Christmas campaign. If I got some signed copies of Scott’s book for, that somebody could give to somebody on their gift list for Christmas. Hello. I’ve got five.
SPEAKER 01 :
What does somebody have to shell out to get such a book? What do you think? Help me get a number. Trace and I were just talking about it. You sponsor one kid.
SPEAKER 1 :
$30.
SPEAKER 01 :
$30? Right. So maybe 10 kids?
SPEAKER 1 :
10, 300?
SPEAKER 01 :
Yeah, $300. How about $300 for a signed book? I say piece of cake. Not everybody has $300. But that’s a wonderful, first of all, great thing to do. Speaks to the Christmas season. And as you so eloquently said yesterday, with all these horrible stories breaking out, positivity coming from us, an act that is so godly and so kind coming from us, has a healing power. So,
SPEAKER 02 :
So we’ll give the Mark Davis audience the early access. If anyone’s interested in a signed book for $300, and Scott signed it, Merry Christmas 2025, and we will FedEx it to you so you have it by Christmas.
SPEAKER 01 :
Can I ask a dumb question?
SPEAKER 02 :
Huh?
SPEAKER 01 :
I got a dumb question. Yeah. You know this audience, right? Yeah. How many books you got? Five. Five. You might have seven by the time you and I finish this sentence.
SPEAKER 02 :
Let’s find out.
SPEAKER 01 :
What do you do with those people?
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, they’re out of luck. The Mark Davis audience wins.
SPEAKER 01 :
The lesson is you better be quick. If you’re that sixth person who came for $300.
SPEAKER 02 :
We got five books. If you’re interested, call right now. In fact, operators are standing by. 800-655-MIKE. You can call right now.
SPEAKER 01 :
Very good. That way Tracy will pick up and confirm the first five people. 800-655-MIKE.
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, no, we’ll handle it right when you call. 800-655-6453. If you’re interested, you’ve got to call right now. If not, we’ll start it at 1005. And Scott is tremendous. He goes every night with Abby Phillips, and he’s the Christian in the lion’s den. Here’s what he said, quote, I’m not surprised Donald Trump didn’t have anything nice to say about Mr. Reiner. Reiner was one of his most vocal critics, called him a fascist for a decade. But the correct answer here is just put it in your pocket. Someone was tragically murdered. We just rolled out of the murder of Charlie Kirk. Scott said, I have been critical of everybody who celebrated that murder, the thousands of liberals who celebrated that. They shouldn’t have done that either. In this case, put it in your pocket would have been the right thing. That’s a good answer.
SPEAKER 01 :
Now, there is a superb answer. There’s a myth of equivalency problem here, just a smidge. And then one other thing that I just – but the myth of equivalency is that Trump being indelicate and unhelpful and harsh and just weird on that post. Is somehow the same as the savage, I’m glad he’s dead vibe that we got across the leftist landscape. As they say in Sesame Street, one of these things is not like the other. And I just remember the other thing. People have found, I have found, and I played yesterday the wonderful moment from Rob Reiner as he was indeed gracious about Charlie Kirk. Saying, man, that was terrible. That shouldn’t happen to anybody. And Erica’s forgiveness is exactly the way to be. That’s that’s the decent, good Rob Reiner dude that is most of his life. The leftist politics, though, got a hold of him and it turned Rob Reiner into one of the biggest a-holes in America. And he did it every day, all day, and he did it for a flipping decade. So one nice moment about Charlie Kirk does not. obviate or outweigh the decade of savagery that he did.
SPEAKER 02 :
Boy, you’re really exercised about all this, aren’t you?
SPEAKER 01 :
Yeah, and it’s kind of funny. It’s not even about Trump. It’s not about Rob Reiner. It’s about this culture of weirdness where people are like, oh, you’d better condemn him for this. A hard pass. The post is bad. Kids, don’t be that way.
SPEAKER 02 :
You and I have spent way more time on this than I wanted to, so I’m done. For full shows live and on demand, it’s Salem News Channel.
