In this gripping episode, Mike Gallagher navigates through a plethora of controversial and poignant topics that shook the weekend before Christmas. The CBS town hall featuring Erica Kirk ignited a fierce debate about the freedom and platforming of conservative voices. While the left reacted with outrage, Mike challenges listeners to see beyond the outrage, discussing the broader implications of media representation and bias.
SPEAKER 10 :
From the wild world of D.C. politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 04 :
My goodness, where do you want to start for a Monday, huh? How about this for the week before Christmas? Monday, December the 15th, welcome in. We got a lot of breaking news. We have all kinds of stuff that happened over the weekend. It has been just a really dark, dark, horrible 48 hours. We’ve got this, and it kind of started, not horrible, it was actually wonderful, the CBS town hall with Erica Kirk Saturday night that caused the left to lose their minds. They’re livid that CBS would dare air this. the voice of one of America’s most prominent conservative influencers, because that’s what Erica Kirk now finds herself in the role of being. And the new chief of CBS News, a woman by the name of Barry Weiss, chose to do a town hall with her, similar to other town halls that she’s going to be doing or has done, and the left lost its mind. Look at this headline from this despicable Roger Friedman at Showbiz411. Barry Weiss’s embarrassing CBS Christian hour with Erica Kirk sends Charlie Kirk book to number two. He writes, 70 years of CBS News was chucked out the window tonight by Barry Weiss. See, they don’t think that conservative voices are allowed to even be heard. That’s the crazy part of this. And so much so that I think some of them want to kill us. Do you know one of the victims at Brown University over the weekend was a 19-year-old college kid who was one of the few conservatives, one of the few Republicans on the Brown campus? She was actually the head of the Young Republicans at Brown University. Was she targeted? Wouldn’t surprise you, would it? Not with this kind of mindset, this mind rot. Oh, Barry Weiss is chucking tradition and history out the window. What? What’s wrong with letting voices be heard? And you understand, this is where the left has now… that you’ve got to stop those voices from being heard. Maybe it started with tearing down Confederate statues. Can’t let that even be, that’s not even allowed to exist. Pretend the Confederacy didn’t happen. Pretend there were no members of the Confederacy. If there’s a Confederate general, tear it down. George Washington owned slaves, tear them down. Christopher Columbus was whatever he was, tear him down. And it just keeps building and building and building. And now we’re witnessing a time where even allowing a strong, powerful voice like Erica Kirk’s isn’t allowed. And then comes… the murders of Rob Reiner and his wife. And, gosh, that hits close to home. I interviewed him a number of years ago, and we found the interview. I’m going to share it with you. He was actually, and even his political critics will tell you this, who knew him, he was a nice guy. I mean, he was off the charts with TDS. He went nuts with Trump hatred. But to talk to him, as I did, he was a likable man. And you are following the difference between… the left’s reaction to the murder of a prominent political voice, and the right’s reaction to the murder of a prominent political voice. There is an apples-to-apples scenario here, to some degree. Find me one prominent conservative influencer who’s expressing delight at the killing of Rob Reiner. Find one. Name one conservative with any kind of prominence or any following on social media or on the airwaves or anywhere else online that is expressing satisfaction and joy at the murder of Rob Reiner. Now, I can’t believe I have to say that out loud. But the fact of the matter is, there are plenty of people on the left who continually attack Charlie Kirk and Erica. I love it when I see a post on social media, F Charlie and F Erica, they say. Well, Charlie was killed. You don’t have to worry about him anymore. Your side got him. And I know you’re happy about that. Now, do you want her murdered too? I hope and trust and pray she has security, good security. round-the-clock security for herself and her babies, and I can’t believe I have to say that. I can’t believe this is where we are. There’s a lot of darkness right now. We’ve got a lot of darkness. We have a lot of darkness right now, and yet there’s a lot of light. There’s more light than darkness. This is the week before Christmas. And this is the last day or two of our Angel Tree campaign. I’m going to tell you right now, my personal goal now is 7,000 children, and I promise you, once we hit 7,000, we’re going to be happy. We’re going to call it a day. Right now we have 6,706 children who are going to have Christmas saved by you. And time’s running out. The campaign is about to end. You want to do something good today? on a day where there’s a lot of darkness all around us, turn on the light. Share the love of Jesus and the joy of the Bible and connecting with an incarcerated parent with these kids. I woke up in the middle of the night, four in the morning, and I couldn’t go back to sleep because I said, you know what? Because last week I said, I think we can get to 7,000 kids. I believe we’re going to get to 7,000 kids today. I think we’re going to be able to get to the wild goal of 7,000 children who are going to get a Christmas present, a Bible, and a personal message from their incarcerated parent. I think we’re going to get to 7,000 during the show today. In fact, I’m praying that we do. I want to will it. I want it to happen. Right now we are at 6,706 kids. We’re just a couple hundred or so away. Please go to mikeonline.com. If everybody popped in $30 right now, we’ll get to our goal in the next 15 minutes. And I’m telling you, we need light right now. We need some goodness. There’s so much bad news. I thought, coming into work today, I thought, my gosh, how much worse is this going to get? Fifteen Jews slaughtered in Australia celebrating Hanukkah. Two Jews. Victims at Brown University slaughtered. They don’t have any idea apparently who did it. Erica Kirk getting smeared and attacked for simply… Accepting an invitation by CBS. And incidentally, quick note about that, today’s the day that Erica Kirk is going to sit down with Candace Owens. Have you read about that? Apparently, Erica is trying to extend an olive branch to Candace Owens, who has expressed all kinds of conspiracy theories and beliefs that, you know… Tyler Robinson wasn’t the one to kill Charlie. And look, I don’t want to go down that rabbit hole. If you’re a Candace fan, knock yourself out. Not my cup of tea. She has really, really gone, many believe, off the deep end. Well, Erica Kirk and Candace Owens are going to sit down together to try to hash things out today. I think that’s a great idea. I’m really glad they’re doing that. A lot of friends of mine think it’s a terrible idea. I don’t agree with that at all. Good for them. Let them sit down in private, hopefully hash things out, and turn the page. Because this is a little bit out of control right now. So we’ve got a lot to cover. Where do we want to start? I’ll start with where you want to start. I’ll open up the phone lines, 800-655-MIKE. We can talk about the slaughter of the Jews celebrating Hanukkah in Australia. We can talk about the Brown University killings. We can talk about Rob Reiner and his wife being murdered, allegedly by their own son, or at least Rob’s son. Apparently he’s the son… that he had with Penny Marshall. And he’s evidently a troubled young man with a lot of substance abuse issues. Who knows if it’s him or not, but that’s what’s being reported by, I think, People Magazine. It’s a horrific story. Where do you want to begin? Maybe we can start talking a little bit about the sit-down between Erica Kirk and Candace Owens. Is that a good idea or a bad idea? I’ll tell you what is a good idea. Let’s… Let’s bring some light. Let’s bring some light to all of this with the Angel Tree campaign. It’s the week before Christmas. Please help us get to 7,000 sponsored children today. I believe we’re going to do it. I’m praying that we can. And with God’s help, we will. And with your generosity, MikeOnline.com, MikeOnline.com. It’s a Monday, December 15th here in the Relief Factor Studios. I hope you’ll join us. I want to put your voice front and center on any of this. Dive into all of it. 800-655-MIKE. I want to find out what you think because I got obviously a lot on my mind. I’ll bet you do too. 800-655-MIKE. 800-655-6453. Hope you join us. SPEAKER 04 :
Everybody’s telling me, don’t get into the Candace Owens, Erica Kirk thing. You’ll just get down a rabbit hole. The Candace fans will square off against the people who hate Candace. Look, I don’t mind getting into it with you. I think it’s a good idea. Can we do this without going down a rabbit hole? Can we talk about Erica Kirk and Candace Owens sitting down together without having World War III break out? I mean, Erica’s fresh off her appearance on CBS. where evidently the left didn’t think she should have been given a platform. They don’t want to hear a conservative voice. They don’t want to hear people that they deem hateful. So, I mean, here was Erica last night, and it’s all due to this Barry Weiss, who’s the new head of CBS News. The left hates her. She’s a former New York Times columnist. She’s anti-woke. And the powers that be at CBS have decided maybe it’s not such a good idea to only present one point of view. Here’s a point of view as seen Saturday night on the town hall with Erica Kirk that the left is furious was heard.
SPEAKER 03 :
My husband did something very simple. He talked to people. You’re going to be murdered for talking to people. He didn’t go after people. He went after your ideas. And if you think it’s okay to murder someone because you think they had it coming for them because they took the time to have people come to the front of the line if they didn’t agree with you, and you think it’s okay because you don’t like what they say or how they say it, that they should be murdered and you’re enjoying it and you’re rejoicing in that, that is evil.
SPEAKER 04 :
Evil. You think that’s a point of view worth hearing on CBS? Not according to these lunatics on the left, like Roger Friedman, Barry Weiss. chucked 70 years of CBS News. He wrote, Could there have been anything more cringe and embarrassing as Barry Weiss’s Christian Hour interview with Erica Kirk, widow of right-wing evangelist Charlie Kirk? Every one of the great CBS legends in heaven rose out of their graves. Look, she used the word evil. That’s the only word to use. They don’t want conservative voices to exist. And so much so that apparently they’re going around killing us. 800-655-MIKE. Did you watch the town hall Saturday night? Do you think… that it’s okay for CBS to present a view like Erica’s? A town hall with this prominent conservative woman who’s now the CEO of Turning Point USA? 800-655-MIKE. 800-655-6453. This portion of our show is sponsored by Relief Factor, who loves hearing from pain-free customers like me. We hope we can help you next. Hey, Thomas, welcome back. You’re up on the Mike Gallagher Show. How are you, sir? I’m doing great. And yourself? I’m great, sir. Merry Christmas.
SPEAKER 07 :
Merry Christmas to you. Thanks. I’d like to step into the controversy about Candace Owens. Sure. I’ve been listening to what she has to say, and she definitely has receipts. It’s not like she’s just giving an opinion. She’s done some research, and she’s raising questions that need to be answered.
SPEAKER 04 :
So what’s your take on Erica and Candace sitting down together in private and trying to work things out, hash things out? Are you okay with it? I think it should be done in private. Yeah, yeah, and try to work it out. And incidentally, the counter-argument to what you just said is that, and I don’t know this, you probably are following this more closely than I am, the criticism of Candace is she has zero receipts. She just is throwing out a lot of speculation and a lot of innuendo and doesn’t have any proof at all of what she’s saying. That’s the counter-argument. I mean, I don’t know that that’s true or not. I’m just telling you what I’m following on social media and online. They claim that she’s making a lot of crazy, over-the-top claims that she can’t substantiate.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I would contradict that based on the understanding that I have.
SPEAKER 04 :
Gotcha. I got it. I got it. Well, like I said, you’re probably following it closer than I am. Let’s see what others think and have to say. One open line, 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. Join us. Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 10 :
From the wild world of D.C. politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 04 :
What a horrifying weekend, and I hate this. The week before Christmas, there’s a lot of darkness in the world. However, I know there’s more light than darkness. We know how this story ends. But, of course, in Australia, a brutal terrorist attack. Brown University, two killed, including the vice president of the Brown University Republicans. They have apparently no idea who did it. They had a purse of interest. They let him go because they said that wasn’t the guy who did it. More on that story in just a moment. But then, of course, came the horrific news that Rob Reiner and his wife, Michelle, were were murdered in their home in Los Angeles. TMZ is reporting that Rob and his wife Michelle, and this is rough, I’m sorry, had their throats slit by a family member after an argument. TMZ is reporting that one of Rob Reiner’s daughters found the bodies, told police a family member had killed them, People magazine is reporting the couple’s son, Nick, is being questioned in connection with the murders. One source said the daughter told the police the family member in question should be a suspect because they’re dangerous. Golly. Rob was 78. His wife, Michelle, was 68. Interesting fact about his wife, she was a renowned photographer and, in fact… photographed President Trump back in the day. She was the photographer for his book cover, The Art of the Deal. How’s that for strange bedfellows? And look, there was nothing stranger than me interviewing Rob Reiner in 2010. But I want to share the interview that I conducted with him. He was promoting a movie called And this speaks to whether or not political opponents can be civil. I mean, right now, we’re looking at the left having a complete meltdown over Erica Kirk being featured on CBS Saturday night for a town hall. The left is losing their minds. Because she was platformed. And this all centers around Barry Weiss, who’s the new CBS executive. She formerly wrote for the New York Times. She’s described as anti-woke. And they hate her for putting Erica on because they don’t want our side to be heard. That’s the loony left. They just don’t want conservative voices heard. To reach people. And I suspect I know why. Because as more and more young people hear our message, they agree with it. And they come over to our side. But as we get ready for Christmas and Hanukkah began this week, people are gathering for the holidays. I do want to share with you the interview that I had, portion of it anyway, with Rob Reiner in 2010. And you’ll see how affable and friendly and… Actually, fun he was to talk to. My chat with Rob Reiner and a whole lot more coming up during this. And there’s a lot of breaking news today here in the Relief Factor studios. We have a lot to cover. But first things first, I want to share with you what my chat with Rob Reiner on the Mike Gallagher show sounded like. And then we’re going to talk about the different ways people react when a public figure is murdered. So welcome in. It’s the week before Christmas. A lot of darkness. But boy, do we have a lot of light as well. And I’ve got a way for you to light a candle in the darkness. So stick around. Trump says build a wall, and they say open the borders. And Trump says, well, let’s crack down on crime in D.C., and they say, don’t touch our crime. We want our crime. And so now when Trump says, well, you’ve got this huge scandal in Minnesota, and a preponderance majority of the defendants are from Somalia, Tim Walz comes out and says, let’s have more people.
SPEAKER 04 :
for somalia that’s what we want so i think they’re they’re they’re orienting themselves entirely as the opposite of donald trump in the relief factor.com studios here’s mike somebody just texted me and said now mike you know that if trump was murdered rob reiner would be celebrating that no i don’t think that’s true at all in fact there’s sort of a uh An analogy to that, after Charlie Kirk was murdered, Piers Morgan asked Rob Reiner about Kirk’s assassination. And here is what he said on Piers Morgan’s podcast.
SPEAKER 09 :
When you first heard about the murder of Charlie Kirk, what was your immediate gut reaction to it?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, horror. Absolute horror. And I unfortunately saw the video of it, and it’s… It’s beyond belief what happened to him, and that should never happen to anybody. I don’t care what your political beliefs are. That’s not acceptable. That’s not a solution to solving problems. And I felt like what his wife said at the service at the memorial they had was exactly right. And totally, I believe, you know, I’m Jewish, but I… I believe in the teachings of Jesus, and I believe in doing to others, and I believe in forgiveness. And what she said to me was beautiful. And absolutely, you know, she forgave his assassin. And I think that that is admirable.
SPEAKER 04 :
Wow. So… Along comes President Trump. He apparently posted a reaction to Rob and Michelle Reiner’s murders. Now, a lesser man would probably avoid it. If I had any sense at all, I’d pretend that Tracy, my producer, didn’t come running in and handing me the Truth Social post today. Why do I have to face that? Well, why do we have to deal with… Oh, my goodness. God, give me strength. Please give me clarity. I was hoping it was fake, but it wasn’t. I’ll have to read it to you, and I’ll have to get your reaction to it. Let me just… Spoiler alert, not my favorite thing. Portions of our show brought to you by Think Factor. Life comes at you fast. I mean, here I am sitting here thinking that nobody on our side is going to denigrate Rob Reiner over getting killed. All right, let me just get back on track here. 60 seconds. If you want to react to this, maybe you already know what President Trump posted on Truth Social. Again, a lot of people online were hoping it was fake. It apparently is real. It’s an actual post about Rob and Michelle Reiner’s murders from President Trump. Let’s be on our A-game, though. Let’s be ready to deal with stuff. You’ve got to deal with stuff sometimes that’s not pleasant. memory loss isn’t very pleasant, not being very focused isn’t very pleasant, losing your concentration can be unpleasant. Well, your brain is your most valuable asset. It powers your creativity, focus, and daily performance. If you’re feeling mentally foggy or not recalling things as quickly as you used to, ThinkFactor could be just what you need to reclaim your cognitive edge. It’s been a game changer for me. Since I started taking ReliefFactor, I’ve noticed a world of difference in my memory, my focus, my concentration. If you’ve ever thought, I wish I could feel more clear, more focused, and more in control… Now you can, thanks to ThinkFactor. Brought to you by the same people who brought us ReliefFactor. To order, call 800-4-RELIEF. 800-4-RELIEF or visit ReliefFactor.com. ReliefFactor.com. Learn more and order ThinkFactor today. Think clearer. Perform better daily with ThinkFactor. Do I have to read? Should I read this? How about I just ignore it? How about we just move on? My, would you look at the time. All right, here we go. This is President Trump’s statement about the murders of Rob Reiner and his wife. On Truth Social, President Donald J. Trump posted this, quote, A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away together with his wife, Michelle, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unwielding and incurable affliction with a mind-crippling disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people crazy by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights. As the Trump administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the golden age of America upon us, perhaps like never before, may Rob and Michelle rest in peace! Exclamation point. I don’t know. Go ahead. 800-655-MIKE. You obviously don’t need me to tell you that I wish President Trump had not said that. So to those who think that all of us Trump supporters are just, as Rush would put it, mind-numbed robots who just constantly defend everything he said, I can’t defend that. I just don’t know why. That would have been necessary. Unless there’s something, maybe he’s got knowledge of the crime scene and maybe the son slit his parents’ throats because the son didn’t agree with his father’s position on Trump. He has been charged with murder. This is breaking news. Rob Reiner’s troubled son, Nick, has been charged with murder. He spent years in and out of rehab for drug addiction. He is in custody on $4 million bail. He was detained Sunday night after police discovered the director of the Princess Bride and his longtime spouse had been hacked to death in their mansion. So Rob Reiner’s troubled son, Nick, has been charged with murder. It’s one of these days I’m not… I’m not sure where to go other than to just open up the phone lines, 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453, 18 minutes before the hour. This was starting out to be such a nice December, wasn’t it? Just zooming along. Look at all the kids we’ve got sponsored in the Angel Tree campaign. Oh, boy. All right. Eight hundred six five five. Mike Jason’s in Brooklyn, New York. Hey, Jason, welcome to the Mike Gallagher show. How are you? I’m well. How are you doing, Mike? Pretty good. Thanks. What’s up?
SPEAKER 06 :
Good. So I’m not upset that Trump made those comments. I’m also not happy that he did. It’s just one of those things where it is what it is. He has all justification to react the way he wants to react based on everything he’s been through.
SPEAKER 04 :
You think he’s justified in saying that, that Rob Reiner was killed because of TDS? I don’t think he said it’s because of TDS. He’s just saying that… Oh, no, no, no. He literally said he was killed reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind-crippling disease known as Trump derangement syndrome.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, well, then I stand corrected, but I’m still okay with him saying it. I’m not happy with him saying it, but I’m not upset either.
SPEAKER 04 :
Okay, there you go. Well, you have it both ways. You’re happy, you’re unhappy. Hey, is Joey around? Maybe Joey could take over. I’m feeling like I’ve got a little headache coming on. I’ve got a sore throat. I’ve got a sore throat. I don’t think I can continue. I think I’ve got to step away here. Kara is in Eugene, Oregon. Hi, Kara. Welcome to the Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 01 :
Hi there, Mike. Thanks for taking the call. I shouldn’t have said that. It wastes time. I do thank you, though. Oh, no. Appreciate it. I find it really – having had trouble raising a son that seems to have been going through similar things – Gosh, now I’m embarrassed and can’t get it out. I know I need to get it out quick. Okay, I had a lot of trouble with my son, and it was absolute hell. It was terrifying. I tried everything in the book. I had to – okay, I’m going to make this too long. Anyway, there’s a lot of parent blaming going on, and people on our side have made comments. nasty comments, just like the people on the other side. And I’m disgusted.
SPEAKER 04 :
You’ve got the rooster in the background on top of everything else. Okay, I’m sorry, Karen. I want to try to get somebody to maybe react to President Trump’s post. 800-655-MIKE. Mike’s in Northbrook, Illinois. Hello, Mike. Merry Christmas.
SPEAKER 05 :
Merry Christmas, Mike. How you doing? I’m well. At times I find you on the fence about certain things. I personally have no problem with what Donald Trump said. Liberalism is a mental disorder, and it’s a tragedy what happened to Rob Reiner, the meathead of all times. But Trump is entitled to his opinion. And Merry Christmas. That’s really all I have.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, everybody’s entitled to an opinion. I guess probably a prevailing opinion would be maybe it’s not a great one. You think I’m on the fence? What am I being on the fence about? I mean, you know.
SPEAKER 05 :
The next day you’re off. What’s that? I question a lot of where your heart’s at at times.
SPEAKER 04 :
You question where my heart is at? I do. Where do you think my heart is right now on this issue? Because I’ve got to question your heart. I’ve got to question your heart in trying to defend something like this. Are you kidding me, Mike? Seriously, are you kidding me? Not even a little. Why would I be kidding you? I voted for a guy, and I back him up. I did, too. I did, too. Do you think the guy is infallible? Is there anything he can do that you would disagree with? There was only one guy perfect, Mike, and they hung him from the cross. You’re absolutely right. And I would agree with you that this is Trump being Trump. There’s no question about it. This is who he is. But that doesn’t mean you have to agree with everything he says. I mean, well, that’s all I’m saying. I mean, it’s about this specific situation. Yeah, well, this specific situation, he’s now going to invite a world of criticism and controversy because he said that he thinks Rob Reiner was killed because of his TDS. And you’re calling a show saying, I’ve got no problem with that. How do you know he wasn’t? How do you know he wasn’t what?
SPEAKER 05 :
Killed because of TDS? About Charlie Kirk. And still is being said about Charlie Kirk.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, that’s what I just said. There’s a difference between our side and their side. Their side celebrated Charlie Kirk’s death. Our side, normal people said it’s terrible that apparently Rob Reiner’s son slit his throat.
SPEAKER 05 :
We’re allowed to say that. So my opinion has changed a little bit since. Oh, your opinion has changed. I have people in my life that have had problems with addiction and substance abuse.
SPEAKER 04 :
Sure, sure.
SPEAKER 05 :
So I get that.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right, right.
SPEAKER 05 :
