As the government faces a shutdown, today’s episode provides an in-depth analysis of the key players and their political motivations. We critically evaluate the actions of Senate Democrats and Republicans as they clash over the inclusion of healthcare benefits for undocumented immigrants in budget negotiations. Through expert commentary, we gain a clearer understanding of how these developments may impact upcoming elections and the broader socio-political climate. In light of political strife, organizations like the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews demonstrate resilience and compassion, offering aid and advocacy in critical regions. Tune in to explore the intersection of politics,
SPEAKER 05 :
You sheltered me from harm
SPEAKER 12 :
You know, one week from today, we will mark the second anniversary of the horrific October 7th terrorist attack in Israel. We saw Hamas fighters killing thousands of men, women, children. They took hostages, some of them still being held today. So starting today, we’re kicking off our ask for you to support the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. This is critically important work that they’re doing right now. We asked IFCJ President Yael Eckstein about her organization’s mission and what they’re doing on the ground in Israel.
SPEAKER 09 :
Well, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is the largest philanthropic organization in Israel. We both provide ongoing support of food aid and we distribute over 3 million meals out of soup kitchens across Israel every single year. But we are also agile. We are the first ones agile. On the ground, when a rocket strikes, we’re there. We’re providing the bulletproof vests and helmets. These are saving lives. And praise God, praise God, we are his servants to be able to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the poor, and to be there just as the scriptures say, comfort, comfort my people, especially during times like this.
SPEAKER 12 :
So let me ask you today to help me help the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. We’re kicking this off today. There’s a banner posted at the top of Mike’s website, MikeOnline.com. Just click on the banner and give generously, whatever you can afford, $25 or any amount that’s comfortable for you. We just need to continue to support Christians and particularly the IFCJ. President Trump is right now trying to broker a final peace plan in the area. It’s much needed. But the fighting still goes on. So please help by making your generous donation to IFCJ today at MikeOnline.com. MikeOnline.com. Just click on the banner across the top of the page. So Senate Democrats last night, as expected, would not support the clean, contending resolution that would keep the government open. So if you haven’t heard, our federal government is closed for business. Hope you didn’t have anything you needed help on today. But it’s interesting to sit back and watch. I mean, it’s kind of like watching a group of kindergarten kids argue over their favorite toy as both sides were pointing fingers at one another. Chuck Schumer saying, well, it’s the Democrats’ fault. I mean, it’s the Republicans’ fault. The Democrats are the good guys in this. The Republicans won’t get on board. The Republicans are shutting down your government because they won’t provide health care for illegals. Now, this was cut out during the one big beautiful bill back in the spring when negotiations were going on for that bill. I think Vice President J.D. Vance probably said it best when he talked about how the GOP was successful in cutting out healthcare for illegals back in the spring. Here’s J.D. Vance.
SPEAKER 02 :
Look, the principle at stake here is very simple. We have disagreements about tax policy, but you don’t shut the government down. We have disagreements about health care policy, but you don’t shut the government down. You don’t use your policy disagreements as leverage to not pay our troops, to not have essential services of government actually function. You don’t say the fact that you disagree about a particular tax provision is an excuse. for shutting down the people’s government and all the essential services that come along with it. If you look at what Chuck Schumer has said in the past consistently, it’s whatever our disagreements are, let’s negotiate with them. Let’s talk about them. Let’s figure out a bipartisan solution. But you don’t shut the government down. In other words, you don’t put a gun to the American people’s head and say, unless you do exactly what Senate and House Democrats want you to do, we’re going to shut down your government. That’s exactly what they’re proposing out there. Now, we have to remember, they’re very frustrated. They say that they’re very frustrated about the fact that this negotiation has not taken place until today. But if you look at the original thing they did with this negotiation, it was a $1.5 trillion spending package, basically saying to the American people, we want to give massive amounts of money, hundreds of billions of dollars to illegal aliens for their health care, while Americans are struggling to pay their health care bills. That was their initial foray into this negotiation. We thought it was absurd. We told them it was absurd, and now they come in here saying that if you don’t give us everything that we want, we’re going to shut down the government. We think that’s preposterous. We think it’s totally unacceptable, and we think the American people are going to suffer because these guys won’t do the right thing. Now, I want to make one final point here. You will hear a lot from Senate Democrats, from House Democrats about the fact that American health care policy is broken. Well, we know that American health care policy is broken. We’ve been trying to fix it for the eight months that we’ve been in office. But every single thing that they accuse about being broken about American health care is policy the Democrats have supported for the past decade. So if they want to talk about how to fix American health care policy, let’s do it. The Speaker would love to do it. The Senate Majority Leader would love to do it. Let’s work on it together, but let’s do it in the context of an open government that’s providing essential services to the American people. That’s all that we’re proposing to do, and the fact that they refuse to do that shows how unreasonable their position is. I think we’re headed to a shutdown because the Democrats won’t do the right thing.
SPEAKER 12 :
Now, of course, that was yesterday, and yes, the shutdown did start at midnight last night. The Vice President made perfectly good sense to me. Under what scenario, and again, I’m trying to understand this, so help me understand how the Democrats think that it’s okay to shut down the federal government in order to try to negotiate health care for illegals. How is that even possible? Who thinks that’s right? You know, one of the things that’s kind of interesting here, It’s been years since the Congress has actually approved a budget like it should be done. I mean, there are 12 individual parts of the annual budget that fund 12 different parts of the government. It’s been years… since all 12 of those were voted on and approved in a timely manner. That’s why we have the continuing resolutions. I think this one would have been like the 13th CR that has been passed over the past number of years. I mean, they never passed all of the funding sections during the Joe Biden administration. And it was interesting to me last night, and we’re going to get into this coming up, how… a Democrat senator who voted with the Republicans reminded them, hey folks, this is Joe Biden’s budget that we’re voting on. This continuing resolution, which doesn’t change anything, is Joe Biden’s budget. Why as Democrats are we objecting to this? Help me answer that. 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. Hope you’ll join the conversation on this Wednesday edition of the Mike Gallagher Show. Every time

SPEAKER 10 :
From the wild world of D.C. politics to America’s culture clash, brace yourself for the reality check you’ve been waiting for. The one and only Mike Gallagher Show. Sitting in for Mike today, here’s Joey Hudson.
SPEAKER 12 :
So it actually happened, if you’ve noticed this morning, or maybe you haven’t noticed, the federal government is shut down. The members of Congress last night did not come to an agreement on how to go forward, and so everything’s closed. Hope you weren’t planning to go to a national park today, or maybe to the Library of Congress or the Smithsonian. Do you really care? if the federal government shut down? Because basically there’s a choice here. There just weren’t enough votes. Republicans did not have enough votes in the Senate to pass a continuing resolution. And we’re going to get into that in just a minute because a Democrat senator who voted with the Republicans yesterday pointed out to his colleagues, this is Joe Biden’s budget, folks. This continuing resolution is made up of budget items that the Democrats have voted on over the last four years during the Joe Biden administration. It’s a clean, continuing resolution, which means Republicans haven’t added or changed anything to it. It’s just a matter of keeping the government funded on a temporary basis. But no, the Democrats, they, as Speaker Mike Johnson said of Schumer, selfishly used this opportunity to create a lot of drama, a lot of chaos over shutting the federal government down because they’re upset that the big, beautiful bill back in the spring cut out funding for health insurance, health care for illegals. So you tell me, do we not call the Democrats out for shutting down the government because they think that illegals should get health care? Is that not a magnet just to attract more people coming into the country illegally? So let’s kind of dive in here with what happened yesterday. Last night, I guess I should say. 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453, of course. I want to get your take on it, too. And primarily my question to you is, does it affect you? When you woke up this morning and the government was shut down, did your life change? Anything. Did anything change for you today? Unless, of course, you might have been on vacation and you were going to go to one of these national parks or something. We’ll get into that in just a minute. But President Donald Trump yesterday said that basically he doesn’t want the government to shut down, but that this could potentially be an opportunity to do some things that he can do in a shutdown that he would not have been able to do otherwise. This is cut number one.
SPEAKER 08 :
They are shutting it down. We’re not shutting it down. We don’t want it to shut down because we have the greatest period of time ever. I told you we have 17 trillion dollars being invested. So the last person that wants to shut down is us. Now, with that being said, we can do things during the shutdown that are irreversible, that are bad for them and irreversible by them, like cutting vast numbers of people out, cutting things that they like, cutting programs that they like. And, you know, you all know Russell Vogt. He’s become very popular recently because he can trim the budget to a level that you couldn’t do any other way. So they’re taking a risk by having a shutdown because because of the shutdown, we can do things medically and other ways, including benefits. We can cut costs. Large numbers of people. We don’t want to do that, but we don’t want fraud, waste and abuse. And, you know, we’re cutting that. But they want to have illegal aliens come into our country and get massive health care at the cost to everybody else. And we don’t have it. And that’s that’s I would say the number one reason that they want to strike is to get illegal immigrants health care. And, you know, Gavin Newsom wants that, too, in California. And it’s destroying California. We can’t have that. We’re not going to let it happen.
SPEAKER 12 :
Wow. The president’s right. The Democrats, in shutting down the federal government, may have wished that they had kept it open. Because I got a feeling that Donald Trump is going to seize the moment and is going to take this opportunity to cut some of the federal employees that he had been wanting to cut anyway, but had not been able to. Speaker Johnson, in talking about how we got here, and let’s review that real quickly. House Republicans passed the continuing resolution, or the CR as it’s known, a clean CR, in that no changes were made. It was just to keep the government open at the present funding levels. Again, Joe Biden levels. They passed this two weeks ago. It was a simple, short-term measure that would get us through November the 21st. Shouldn’t have been any drama. But no, Chuck Schumer comes along, and Chuck Schumer wants to try to make a point. Now, I honestly don’t know what it is he’s trying to accomplish here. But Speaker Mike Johnson said yesterday that Schumer is very selfishly bringing the government to a shutdown. This is cut number three.
SPEAKER 14 :
Chuck Schumer has made the decision unilaterally. He’s the leader of the Democrats in the Senate to keep the government shut down for his own personal reasons. It is extremely selfish and stunning to me that he is willing to do that. There’s no way out of the trap. We didn’t put partisan provisions in the CR. We could have. I could have loaded that up with all of our partisan policy preferences, but I didn’t because we’re operating in good faith.
SPEAKER 12 :
Now, of course, Schumer has a different take on it. Schumer, in cut number six, says that it’s the GOP’s fault.
SPEAKER 01 :
We see now Republicans are plunging America into a shutdown, rejecting bipartisan talks, pushing a partisan bill, and risking America’s health care, worst of all. A few moments ago, Republicans once again rejected Democrats’ proposals to avoid a shutdown, fix health care premiums, and spare Americans the calamity of skyrocketing through the roof health care costs.
SPEAKER 12 :
Now, basically, what Chuck Schumer wants is to put health care back into the budget for illegals. It was taken out in the one big beautiful bill back in the spring. Do you think Chuck Schumer and the Democrats really want to possibly eliminate any chance of victory for them next year in the midterms? by going down this path, by pushing health care for illegals. There’s a poll out, and the numbers are astronomical as far as the number of Americans who say that health care should not be provided and that the government should not be closed down because of that issue. Chuck Schumer doesn’t have a leg to stand on, even among his Democrats. Coming up, one Democrat senator voted with two other democrat senators with the gop and he says it’s very simple that they just need to remember that this is joe biden’s budget that they’re voting on they have voted on it for the past four years that and your phone call is coming up 800-655-MIKE 800-655-6453 i’m joey hudson in for mike today

The Mike Gallagher Show.
SPEAKER 13 :
The rise of communism, which is quite literally what it is with Bundami, is really scary. What that will do to New York City, when all the people who have the ability to flee will continue to come down here, move out of New York, it’s just going to create a dystopian nightmare in the city. And I really hope that doesn’t happen because I have a very dear place in my heart still for that once great city.
SPEAKER 10 :
In the Relief Factor studios on Salem News Channel and Salem Radio Network, here’s Mike.
SPEAKER 12 :
Continuing the Mike Gallagher Show on the Salem News Channel and the Salem Radio Network, I’m Joey Hudson in for Mike. Hope you’ll join the conversation today. 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. You can email me directly, joey, at joeyhudson.com. Portions of today’s show made possible by conservatives for lower health care costs. President Trump is doing what no other president has done before, holding big pharma accountable for ripping off the American people. But Big Pharma, as you can imagine, an army of drug company lobbyists are working overtime to keep Americans stuck paying the highest prescription drug prices literally in the world. Big Pharma has already hiked prices on hundreds of prescription drugs so far this year, while they continue to shower us with billions of dollars in misleading ads, pushing sales of medications that we may not even need. And that’s not all. Big Pharma continues to push big government mandates that would further stack the deck for big drug companies. But Pharma’s goal in Washington, their goal is to escape any accountability for themselves and to undermine free market forces that stand in the way of big drug companies charging even more exorbitant and outrageous prices. Big Pharma wants to use government intrusion into the private health care market to boost their own profits at the expense of you, the American people and American businesses, who would pay the price. So join conservatives for lower health care costs in supporting these solutions and reject Big Pharma’s self-serving agenda. Visit pharmawindfall.com, pharmawindfall.com. Join the fight to lower prescription drug prices. Let’s go straight to the phones. John is waiting patiently in Pennsylvania. Welcome, John. You’re on the Mike Gallagher Show. John, you with us? Okay, let’s try Elizabeth, who’s in Pennsylvania. Welcome, Elizabeth.
SPEAKER 07 :
Good morning. How are you?
SPEAKER 12 :
I’m wonderful. Hope you are.
SPEAKER 07 :
I am, too. So I said right now it’s about time that Madeline Dean kept her Pennsylvania in a sane neighborhood where we don’t have children writing on their driveways, I am gay. Okay. Now, I never saw that on any driveway when I was growing up, and I never – this is the first time as a senior citizen I ever saw any type of writing like that on his parents’ driveway.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, you know – We live in different times for sure, Elizabeth. You know, people do things differently now than they did when I was growing up and I’m sure when you were growing up. James is in Brownville, Texas. Welcome, James.
SPEAKER 15 :
Yeah, thank you for taking my call. I think what’s going on with Chuck Schumer and the Democrats right now, not in the Senate, two things. He is selfishly getting way out in left field. So they won’t have an opponent come up in the primaries with AOC. So he’s putting us through this for his own selfish reelection. And the second thing, senators, I think, can do goofy things like this because they’ve got six-year terms. And if you’ve got a couple years to make up for your idiocy in October of 2025, they hope we’ll forget it. And I hope we learn to stop forgetting some of these long-term things.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, and that’s a good point, James, because voters do have short memories. And United States senators are counting on that because you’re right. It’s hard to remember what someone’s done over the past six years. Chuck Schumer, he’s in quite the situation now. He’s never been in this type of predicament with his own party. And he is. He’s out there on a limb thinking, okay, I’m going to fight. the Republicans, because I think that’s what my party wants me to do. But I’m not so sure, James, and help me out here, I’m not so sure that the average Democrat in Texas, in Pennsylvania, in South Carolina, that even the average Democrat wants to see illegals provided with free health care. Do you?
SPEAKER 15 :
Oh, I wish that they wouldn’t think that, but I think most Democrats, even the average ones, are so busy hating anything Trump wants to do that they’d sell the farm just to not get something Trump wants done.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah, well, you’re right there. I mean, Trump derangement syndrome is alive and well, and it’s spreading within the Democrat Party. You’d think the party that gave us the COVID vaccine that they’d come up with a vaccine that would help them out with that, wouldn’t you? Hey, James, appreciate your phone call. 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. You know, one of the things I’ve never understood about this shutdown is how the essential workers will have to go to work, they just won’t be paid. Not now. Eventually they’ll get paid. The non-essential workers stay home. U.S. members of the House and the United States Senate, they need to share in the pain. And a congressman from my home state of South Carolina, Representative Ralph Norman, he’s from the 5th District of South Carolina, says that as we officially start the shutdown, that it’s time that Congress shares in the pain, the pain that so many Americans will suffer, those who are federal employees. Again, most Americans probably won’t even notice it. Representative Norman says that he’s reintroducing a constitutional amendment that would dock lawmakers’ pay any time the government shuts down. And he’s not talking about just suspending it. He’s talking about taking it away. They would not be paid in the future when the government opens back up. He said in a statement, during shutdowns, federal workers are told to do more with less. Meanwhile, Congress still cashes paychecks. That’s wrong, and you’re right, Congressman, that is wrong. He’s right. Why would lawmakers get paid while our troops, federal law enforcement, rank-and-file workers in the IRS, in the Social Security Department, and a lot of these agencies who are just there doing their job every day— and yet they’re not going to be paid. Norman’s amendment is very simple. It says that no pay for members of Congress during any period when there’s a lapse in government funding will take place. No salary. Here’s the key. No back pay. No exceptions. That’s how it should be, shouldn’t it? If federal workers are not being paid, And again, in most cases, it’s just a suspension of their payment. They’ll eventually be paid. But Congress is the one who’s closed it down. So why should they be paid ever lose that money? And according to some reports, he’s got some support from other conservative members of Congress. Bob Latta of Ohio, Jack Bergman of Michigan, Eli Crane of Arizona, Corey Mills of Florida, Dusty Johnson of South Dakota, John Joyce of Pennsylvania, and I understand this morning more have added their name to the list. The resolution reads, a representative or senator may not receive compensation with respect to any period during which a government shutdown is in effect. You agree with this? 800-655-6453. Back to the phones. Ralph is in North Carolina. Welcome, Ralph.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, thank you. And I don’t want to go against your theme today, but yesterday I had the city knock on the door. I’m living in a trailer between my house, which got ruined in Helena. And I asked him about Trump’s permitless rebuild. And they couldn’t give me an answer, and I just wanted to know where that stood right now.
SPEAKER 12 :
Well, I can’t tell you exactly. I’ll look into that. But here’s what I do know about permits is they’re largely… at the local level. Your county and your cities determine the permits. Now, if there are federal permits involved, the Trump administration has been very successful in trying to eliminate a lot of the federal permits for roads and things like that. And that’s one of the things that the President talked about yesterday when he talked about there are things that he can do in a shutdown that he can’t do otherwise. And at the top of that list were some of the rules and regulations that he wants to eliminate, hasn’t been able to because Congress has to do it, he can do it in a shutdown. And I think you’re going to see some of that as well. 800-655-6453, your phone calls are welcome, as are your comments on the MyPillow text line. Just send me a quick note. You’d think that after all these years that Hillary Clinton might have been able to read the room. She would have learned that talent of reading the room. Last week on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Hillary delivered one of the most divisive and tone-deaf comments I’ve ever heard her mention. And especially at a time when the country is grieving still, mourning the loss of the assassination of my colleague, Charlie Kirk, whose faith was an important part of his life. His patriotism was an important part of his life as well. When Hillary talked about certain men, I want you to listen to this. Here’s Hillary.
SPEAKER 06 :
The idea that you could turn the clock back and try to recreate a world that never was dominated by, you know, let’s say it, white men of a certain persuasion, a certain religion, a certain point of view, a certain ideology. It’s just doing such damage to what we should be aiming for. And we were on the path toward that. I mean, imperfectly, lots of bumps along the way. But I agree with you. We were on the right trajectory.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah, there were a lot of bumps there, Hillary, a lot of bumps on the way. And the American people last November resoundingly said, we don’t want to be on this path. It’s the wrong path. But think about this for a minute. Let’s just pause here and think about what she said. White men of a certain religion. We all know who she’s referring to. She’s referring to people like me, many of you. And again, at a moment when we need to be talking about unity, at a moment when we’re mourning the death of one of the most prominent Christian conservative voices in our time, and she decides to fan the flames. She wants to divide people, suggesting that white Christian men, and that’s what she’s talking about, white Christian men are somehow damaging our country. The backlash came pretty quickly. Social media responded. One person wrote, These people have no intention of turning down the temperature. No, they’re not. They don’t want unity. They don’t want Republicans and Democrats to work together for the betterment of our country. They like the division. That’s why Chuck Schumer has us in a shutdown right now. Another wrote, this constant drumbeat against white Christian men is dehumanizing and dangerous. And they’re right. This kind of rhetoric from Hillary and anybody else is reckless anytime, but particularly right now. when you have probably some troubled young man out there thinking about how the assassin was able to take Charlie Kirk out and how there’s some white Christian man he’d like to do the same to. And Hillary seems to be encouraging him to do so. It’s hypocritical. And it’s just downright dangerous for Hillary and others to talk like this, to have that perspective. that Christian white men is the problem of our country? Christian white men were the foundation of our country, our founding fathers. And let’s be honest, Hillary, she has a long history of this, let’s just call it elitist contempt. Remember the basket of deplorables comment that she made? Now, years later, she’s painting millions of Americans, hardworking fathers, veterans, churchgoers, small business owners as somehow the villains in her worldview. That’s why Hillary Clinton never made it to the Oval Office. And I don’t know why these networks keep putting her on. That’s the reason Hillary Clinton should not have even been on MSNBC. Surely they have standards too, right? 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. Email me directly, joey at joeyhudson.com. Love to hear your comments. I’m an off-base there. Send me a text on the MyPillow message line. By the way, always go to, when you go to MyPillow.com, use promo code MikeG. Mike Lindell has the six-pack bath towel sets back in stock, and, boy, they’re amazing. SPEAKER 03 :
Hey, Joey. Good morning. I just wanted to call and comment on the question that you had. Why would Chuck Schumer, why would any Democrat or liberal even want to give free health care to illegal immigrants? And the more I thought about that, I have to tell myself, look, they are trying to encourage and incentivize illegal immigration. Why would they do that? Because they’re trying to gain votes in upcoming elections. That’s always been part of their agenda. And so there’s multiple factors here. Also, like you said, they’re against anything that Trump is saying. And they’re doing this in the… They’re trying to paint a picture that they’re doing this in the name of love and kindness and… and gracious, and that they’re such wonderful people. But behind the scenes, there’s a narrative there, and they are trying to cause division because when there’s division within the United States, then they have an opportunity to push their liberal agenda, their socialist agenda, because we would be in the midst of chaos. So I think that there’s underlying reasons there for why they would be trying to do this.
SPEAKER 12 :
David, they just don’t love our country, do they?
SPEAKER 03 :
No, they’re in it for themselves.
SPEAKER 12 :
Yeah, they just don’t care what happens to our country, and they’re willing to pull these stunts at whatever cost to try to make Donald Trump look bad. 800-655-6453, one line open for you. Did you happen to see that this is classic Trump? Did you happen to see that when he had Chuck Schumer, and I think Hakeem Jeffries was with him as well in the Oval Office yesterday, he had some Trump 2028 caps right on the front of his desk. So they had to sit there and look at these Trump 2028 caps as they’re talking to the president. Who else can do that? Donald Trump. That’s why he stands up to these people. He’s not going to just bow down and accept what they want to happen just because they’re shutting the government down. Thanks to the team, Eric and Christian and Alex and Tracy. I’m back again tomorrow. Hope you have a wonderful day. More of the Mike Gallagher Show coming up.
