Footage from the Vatican feed of the conclave that’s currently underway showed white smoke, which is meant to signal that a new pope had been elected. However, right after that, black smoke was seen. That would be my luck. I’d be the guy responsible for the smoke, and I’d get them mixed up. I would. I’d completely screw this up. Wait, black? So do the black smoke pellets? I did the white smoke. I thought you said white. No, no, dummy. I said black. Black. We don’t have a new El Papa yet. So it was a false alarm. No white smoke yet. The guy evidently, or whoever is responsible, pushed the wrong button. There’s good news for the Trump White House. Big announcement today. A trade deal with the U.K., President Trump announcing today a big agreement with the United Kingdom, the first of what is expected to be a series of developments since the United States imposed tariffs against allies and adversaries alike, according to the Wall Street Journal. Trump, early this morning, called this deal full and comprehensive. He said many other deals… which are in serious stages of negotiation, to follow. The golden era is beginning. And this uncertainty is starting to subside in America. I just saw a clip. AI is astounding. What artificial intelligence can do blows my mind. There’s a scene from a great movie called starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, called Good Will Hunting. Remember that movie? And I’m pretty sure this scene was adjusted from that movie. To depict a Matt Damon… describing America’s return under Donald Trump. Now, it’s not real, of course. I don’t know what Matt Damon’s politics are, nor do I care. It always interests me when people get excited about what celebrities, who they like politically. Do you see the news out of Washington, D.C., the Kennedy Center? Next month, they’re going to have a big fundraiser at the Kennedy Center, which has basically been taken over by the Trump administration in order to be less woke. And I’ve been to the Kennedy Center on a number of occasions. It’s a beautiful cultural center. But the… The narrative, the belief has been that it has become super woke. It’s run by a bunch of liberal Democrats. Now Rick Grinnell, who has been a longtime Trump supporter, is sort of running things. And they’re going to have a production of Les Miserables in June. Trump’s going to attend. Evidently, President Trump loves Les Mis. And it’s a great musical. And he likes the classics like that. He likes Les Mis and Phantom and Cats. He’s not real cutting edge when it comes to theater. He’s old school that way. So he’s going to attend the June 11th performance of Les Miserables, which is part of a fundraiser at the Kennedy Center. Well, 10 to 12 cast members are going to sit that one out. They’re going to boycott the performance. They’re going to be triggered. They’re going to know the orange man is in the audience. They can’t sing Master of the House or One Fine Day or whatever the songs are from Les Mis. One Day More, I mean. They can’t sing those songs. They’ll start crying. You’ve got Trump in the audience. I have a friend who’s a theater guy, or used to be anyway, and he said they ought to fire every one of them. Well, they’re not going to fire them. They gave them the option. The producers told the cast members, now, look, if you don’t want to perform because Orange Man Bad is going to be in the audience, you don’t have to perform. So 10 to 12 of the actors are going to sit this one out. Principals, ensemble, a dozen cast members are going to refuse to perform. That’ll show him. Don’t do your job. You’ll get to sit home, put your feet up, and eat some Doritos and watch Netflix that night. And you know what I keep thinking of? The pragmatic side of me wonders what’s going to happen to the actors who are willing to perform. Because I know that theater community, they can be real, real vicious, and they’re going to go after the actors who are willing to perform that night. And they’re going to start wondering, are they MAGA? Are they conservatives? Are they, are they, so… send a little prayer their way because their careers might be in trouble when it really should be the other way around. If you’re so woke that you’re not going to… I mean, I saw a guy a couple weeks ago say, look, I’ve performed before Obama, Trump, Bush, Clinton. The president is the president. And what those actors in Les Mis refuse to recognize, he’s your president. You can’t change that. All right, so here’s this clip that I saw. Again, this is, and I’m pretty sure it’s Matt Damon. He’s a socialist. I know the optics are bad. He cares about the middle class. He cares about the under… Oh, come on. Don’t give him any grace for saying something that stupid. He’s wrong about everything. What am I going to do? Stand in line at United? You’re going to defend that, Mark? Yes.
SPEAKER 03 :
What the heck is wrong with you? I’m going to say that anybody has, okay, if you’re Bernie Sanders, okay, you’re Bernie Sanders, let’s make you Bernie. Let’s channel Bernie. We’re going to channel Bernie. Get in the DeLorean. We’re channeling Bernie. And you’ve got five events in five days talking to 30,000 people. What are you going to do?
SPEAKER 04 :
You get on United because you’re a socialist.
SPEAKER 03 :
You’re a comrade. Okay. And this is a point. Don’t stop it. Don’t make this a posturing point today. Because, of course, you have a point. Of course you do. That if you are the anti-oligarch, if you are the socialist, you should probably find a crop duster that will get you there.
SPEAKER 04 :
And if you’re AOC, you don’t fly first class.
SPEAKER 03 :
Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER 04 :
They’re hypocrites, Mark. If you’re AOC, you don’t get a picture taken of you up there eating shrimp cocktail in first class. They’re fighting for the little guy. But they’re not fighting for the little guy. Bernie Sanders is rich. Bernie Sanders has multiple homes. He’s a millionaire. Absolutely. But to actually physically say, to open his mouth and say, like you said in your Jackie Mason impression, what am I going to do? Stand on line? And by the way, on line, it was the very northeastern way of saying in line. They like to say on line up there. Staying on, what am I going to do? Stand on line at United? Well, yeah. What am I? What do you think I’m doing? Golly. You know, I’m going to have a good chat with Bill Bunkley. I don’t know if you know much about Bill.
SPEAKER 03 :
He’s a great Tampa Bay – Religious broadcaster.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He’s on our Christian teaching and talk side, but he knows Florida politics. Axios did a big intriguing piece on Ron DeSantis yesterday. I don’t know if you caught it or not. But it was basically – the narrative is his fall from the top of the mountain has been pretty spectacular. Wow. As measured by what? As measured by his difficulty in corralling the Florida legislature right now, having all kinds of problems here in Florida. The Republicans are kind of revolting against him. And ask yourself this question, Mark. Do you see him as the 2028 nominee? Oh, I don’t know.
SPEAKER 03 :
Would he be in the conversation? Of course he would. As we talked about yesterday, do we just hand it to Vance if this administration is so awesome? There’s an argument that says we do. If not, if there’s a big, crazy, wide-open primary, DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Marco Rubio.
SPEAKER 04 :
I don’t think DeSantis is in the conversation.
SPEAKER 03 :
Other than Abbott, by the way, Abbott might be as well. Other than Abbott, name a more noteworthy governor. Name one.
SPEAKER 04 :
Quick. Come on. I’m talking about a noteworthy candidate in 2020.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s what I mean. But I would suggest that a top three noteworthy, high-achieving Republican governor is instantly in the conversation. Where does this come from, this constant desire? I think this is a… He’s damaged goods. I think this is an echo… Of the gripe that you had, I don’t know if you had it as much as other people, for DeSantis forever running against Trump. DeSantis remains an absolute rock star. It may not work in 2027 when everybody’s running for president of New Hampshire. He won’t be governor anymore because he’s term limited. And he may fade from the front of the pack.
SPEAKER 04 :
He’s not the rock star.
SPEAKER 03 :
Nope, not at all. Tell me why not. I’ll tell you. Tell me why not.
SPEAKER 04 :
First of all, it’s wishful thinking on your part because you like the guy. And that’s fine. And he’s a good governor. I mean, I say as a governor.
SPEAKER 03 :
So what’s the problem? So what will block him? What will make him a forgotten persona?
SPEAKER 04 :
You already addressed it. Most of MAGA’s base doesn’t forgive him for running against Trump. And I’m just telling you, it wasn’t his time.
SPEAKER 03 :
Most of MAGA’s base has forgotten that already. No, they haven’t. Oh, you’re wrong. Okay, does MAGA hate Ted Cruz? Does MAGA hate Ted Cruz? No, no. You’ve made my point. I was in Apples and Oranges. Cruz and Trump went mano a mano. It was a bloodbath. And Cruz came around, become Trump’s best buddy. And now all is forgiven. Tell me how it’s different.
SPEAKER 04 :
Because Cruz challenged Trump right out of the gate in 2016. It was Donald Trump’s time. Everybody knew it. And Ron DeSantis was advised against running against him, and he did it anyway. No, you’re giving way too much credence to thinking that everybody’s forgotten about it. I’m telling you, the guy is done. He’s done in national politics.
SPEAKER 03 :
He’s got the wife. You wouldn’t have said, oh, okay. He’s got the wife.
SPEAKER 04 :
They’ve got this big scandal where the wife wants to be his successor, which, by the way, there’s nothing good about that idea. Nothing good about that.
SPEAKER 03 :
And he also was, he kind of wanted, there was a thought that he would name Casey to fill the Rubio vacancy for the U.S. Senate.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s exactly right. So there’s a lot of bad feelings right now in Florida about DeSantis. And look, he is an effective governor. I’m not disputing that.
SPEAKER 03 :
That is the most important thing. All this other stuff is window dressing and sideshows.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, we’ll let the game come to us. We’ll see what happens in a couple of years. I just think that it is fascinating. I’m going to talk to Bill today about his supposed fall. I mean, they’ve got Republican consultants saying it’s like a made-for-TV movie. This guy was, remember, at one point was beating Trump in the polls. and then, you know, sort of dropped off the cliff.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, that was never real. I mean, his lead in the poll was just a function of it. Sometimes when people first get in, there’s kind of a phony puff of initial enthusiasm. Maybe, maybe. Time will tell. I’ll tell you what, just the last 30 seconds, I will tell you this, because the strongest point you have is his inability to wrangle the Florida legislature. You know Florida still has red flag laws?
SPEAKER 04 :
You better believe it. And Florida has skyrocketing property taxes, crazy HOA fees. There’s a lot of challenges here. And what is DeSantis worried about? Banning fluoride. I mean, my goodness. I mean, I get it. And people get fired up about it. That’s one of those red meat topics. People get all excited about it. Oh, we shouldn’t. All right. Well, then let’s. And I kind of agree with it. You know, it’s a little bit like the shot. If you don’t want a medicine in your water, which technically Florida, I get it. So go buy a Florida fluoride toothpaste. Don’t put it in the drinking water, I guess. But in the scheme of things, I’m not sure that’s what people are sitting around fretting about.
SPEAKER 03 :
You are correct, sir.
SPEAKER 04 :
You are correct. How about some of these Republicans like James Lankford insisting that illegals have a right-to-do process? How about Tom Tillis in North Carolina blocking Ed Martin? You know what this feels like to me, Mark? And I don’t know if you think I’m over-exaggerating. It does feel like an attempted coup. They’re trying to sabotage the Trump agenda, don’t you think?
SPEAKER 03 :
They’re those who are trying to attract positive attention to themselves by going rogue. Two cases, Lankford, there was a quote of, I think we’ve both seen it. I don’t think he believes in lengthy, weeks-long jury trials. The bottom line is, should there be due process for every deportation case? Yes, and in most of their cases, it should take about 20 seconds. Did you come into the country illegally? Yes. Bingo. Do you have documentation that you should be in the country? Yes. Okay, you can stay. Are you here illegally? Yes. Bye. Due process. Boom, there you go.
