Join Mike Gallagher as he explores the incredible scene at the Super Bowl, where former President Trump makes history with deafening cheers from the stadium. We discuss the societal and political signals emanated from this landmark event, exploring the divide between reality and the narratives portrayed on social media. In a world where gaslighting becomes a tool, Mike unravels how these moments reflect America’s ongoing transformation and what it signifies for supporters and detractors alike.

SPEAKER 18 :
I’ve been thinking a lot about what it must be like for people who hate President Trump to see the Super Bowl stadium erupt in a roaring ovation for him when he was shown on the Jumbotron briefly during the Star Spangled Banner yesterday. And I went to social media because I thought, I wonder what they’re saying. How do they take that news? How do Trump haters cope with… the recognition that millions and millions of Americans, indeed the majority of Americans, are so receptive to what he’s doing? I should have known. You know the answer, right? They lied. They just went full-on gaslighting. They pretended that the booing that they heard in their heads was real. The roaring of the crowd turned into boos, I guess, in their mind. It reminds me of the young lady that was interviewing the race car driver, and it turned into one of the most memorable expressions of all time, let’s go, Brandon. The crowd in the background was yelling, blank Biden, blank you Biden, blank Biden. And the nervous reporter, as she’s interviewing the race car driver, said, oh, look, they love you. They’re yelling, listen to what they’re saying. Let’s go, Brandon. Let’s go, Brandon. Let’s go, Brandon became the metaphor for everything that was wrong with the Biden administration. Let’s Go Brandon became a national mantra for how we felt about the disastrous Biden-Harris administration. And it was the same thing yesterday. I mean, here’s the clip. I’ll play it for you. All you do is sit in your living room and watch. If you were at the Super Bowl, you heard it. I had a good friend who was at the Super Bowl with his wife. He said, Mike, it was unbelievable. When they showed Trump on the Jumbotron, the cheering, the roar, the ovation he got was almost deafening in the middle of the Star Spangled Banner. But again, if you look through social media sites of Trump haters, They’re like, oh, he was booed. They booed him. Yeah, that’s right. That’s right. They were simply saying, let’s go, Brandon. Check it out yourself.
SPEAKER 09 :
Broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight for the Reds.
SPEAKER 18 :
Did you hear that? Now, that was incidentally a beautiful rendition of the anthem from singer Jean Baptiste. Did you hear that roar? If you’re listening just on the radio, let me just happily tell you why they started roaring cheers of approval. They were showing Trump on the Jumbotron. Look, I don’t care that people booed Taylor Swift. I don’t know why. I don’t want to make a big thing out of that. But for me, the most profound moment as that historic visit, first time a sitting president has ever gone to a Super Bowl. Even Trump said in one of his interviews, I’m surprised that that’s true. I can’t believe there weren’t any other presidents who went to the Super Bowl. But the roar, the ovation, the seal of approval from one of the biggest sporting events on the planet, if not the biggest, was unmistakable. But so is the lying and the gaslighting. So are those who, oh, he was booed. Did you hear how people booed him? And I loved it. Oh, it was great to see the way Trump was booed at the Super Bowl. And it didn’t happen. Again, this is called gaslighting. Gaslighting is when you try to convince somebody that something isn’t so with the express purpose of trying to make them think they’re the crazy one. It’s based on an old, I think it’s a British play, where a husband did that to his wife. It’s called gaslighting. That’s where the term comes from. It’s sunny outside. Do you see it? Well, not really. Look, it’s raining. I can hear the pitter-patter of rain on the roof. Yeah, but I’m looking outside. The sun is shining. No, no, no. You’re mistaken. It’s raining. Hear the thunder in the background? That’s rain. That’s what they’re doing with that incredible moment. And for me, it was the only moment that mattered yesterday. For me, it was the only thing that counted. I didn’t care about the game. I didn’t care about, I really didn’t. Good for the Eagles. They looked great. Too bad for the Chiefs. They looked awful. Patrick Mahomes looked like he was completely overwhelmed by the Philly defense. The Super Bowl ads, some of them were weird. Some of them were fine. Some of them were great. I just enjoyed it. I mean, I just liked the spectacle of it all. But that moment, that moment when Trump was cheered, And for many people, the contrast of Taylor Swift being booed is important. Again, I don’t think much about Taylor Swift, other than I know how phenomenally successful she is and she’s good at what she does and people love to hate her and her boyfriend is Kelsey and blah, blah, blah. I don’t care about any of that. But many people say it’s important because it signifies the cultural shift in America. We’ve gone from trying to prosecute a guy named Trump to cheering and giving him a wild ovation, a roar of support at the Super Bowl while booing one of America’s iconic superstars. And why? I don’t know why they booed her. My friend Mark Davis says it’s because of her unabashed hatred for Trump, how political she got. Some people say, well, it’s because she’s oversaturated. Well, is there anybody more oversaturated in our culture than Trump? They’re not booing him. They’re cheering him, and they’re booing her. Come to think of it, maybe the competing reactions is significant. Here’s what Trump said, Fox News Channel, on attending the Super Bowl and how things are rapidly changing.
SPEAKER 16 :
You know, you are going to be… The first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl. It’s a big day for America, always is. What made you want to do it?
SPEAKER 15 :
Well, first of all, I’m very surprised to hear that. I would have assumed many presidents came. But I think just the spirit of the country, the country’s taken on a whole new life. I thought it would be a good thing for the country to have the president be at the game.
SPEAKER 18 :
It was during his interview with Bret Baier before the Super Bowl, which incidentally they aired like hours before the Super Bowl. If it had been a Democrat president, my hunch is they probably would have popped it in about a half hour before the Super Bowl started. But I think the interview with Trump ran around 3.30 Eastern time. The game didn’t start until 6.40. Let’s dive into all of it. I want to get your reaction to it all. 800-655-MIKE. Give me your thought. your reaction to the effort to gaslight people into thinking that Trump was actually booed at the Super Bowl when, in fact, the literal opposite thing occurred. It’s what they’re left with. It’s all they’ve got. If they can’t convince you with facts or logic or reason, maybe they can just lie to you and you’ll change your mind? I don’t know. I don’t get it. But I frankly find the gaslighting Kind of satisfying, because I realize how desperate they are and what they’re left with. And they’re witnessing an evolution of this country. They’re witnessing our country morph into something that… just a short time ago, many of us never thought was possible. And it’s here. Change is here, and it’s now, and it’s real. Give me your reaction to all of it. Give me your take on the Super Bowl. I want to throw the phone lines wide open to you on a Monday. I’ve got a lot of mixed emotions today. It looks like I lost a friendship over the Trump era, and I’m very sad about it, and I’m trying not to let it impact my show today. But I’m so disappointed in people who just want to fracture a years-long friendship or a family member and a family relationship because we don’t agree politically. We don’t agree with the direction of the country. I have to keep reminding myself, these people don’t hate Trump. They hate what America is. They hate what America has become. And that’s very sad to me. I’m not even angry about it anymore. It just makes me sorrowful. But let me get your reaction to all of it. I want to throw the phone lines open to a bunch of voices. Here in the Relief Factor studios for a Monday, 800-655-MIKE. One number does it all. You can call or text on the MyPillow text line on the same line, 800-655-MIKE, 800-655-6453. We’ve got one or two lines open for you. Let’s put your voice front and center here on the Mike Gallagher Show.

These are the tax priorities of the Trump administration. No tax on tips, which is obviously a very public campaign promise the president made. No tax on seniors’ Social Security. No tax on overtime pay. Renewing President Trump’s 2017 middle class tax cuts. This will be the largest tax cut in history for middle class working Americans.
SPEAKER 06 :
In the ReliefFactor.com studios, here’s Mike Gallagher.
SPEAKER 18 :
Apparently, President Trump was so bored at the Super Bowl that while he was there, he tweeted out that we’re going to get rid of producing pennies. purging pennies in order to cut waste. And I thought, well, let me look at liberal media. Let me see what the New York Times is saying about it. Headline, Trump orders Treasury to halt minting new pennies to cut waste. Since taking office, President Trump has set his sights on big targets like Greenland, but he’s also taken aim at small ones like paper straws and pennies. Sunday night, Trump said he ordered the Treasury Secretary to stop producing new pennies. Now, during… On his post, Trump himself wrote, let’s rip the waste out of our great nation’s budget, even if it’s a penny at a time. Adding that pennies literally cost us more than two cents. Well, with all due respect, Mr. President, according to the New York Times, you’re wrong. It costs 3.69 cents to produce and distribute one penny. according to the 2024 U.S. Mint annual report. That means, accounting for face value, each penny cost the American taxpayer a loss of 2.69 cents. Now remember, I’m reading from the New York Times. Last year, the Mint issued over 3 billion pennies, according to its annual report. Now, why would we not get rid of pennies? Who in the heck cares about keeping pennies when we’re wasting millions and millions and millions of dollars on the minting and distribution of pennies? It’s the same with USAID, with USAID. I’ve lost track. Do we say USAID, guys, or is it USAID? It’s my poor brain circulation. I am. I’m having some memory issues. Anybody remember what it was? It’s AID, right? I mean, I think the colloquial, you say it, abbreviate USAID, but it’s really USAID. I got a note from somebody who finds it horrifying, just an absolute abomination that Trump’s doge is going in and uncovering all this waste at USAID. And as I said from day one, There are good things that that government agency does. It’s not a charity. It was signed into law by an executive order from JFK in the early 60s. It’s gotten turned into some bloated, bureaucratic boondoggle. Sesame Street in Iraq and all this other crap. But you can’t throw the baby out with the bathwater, as I’ve said repeatedly. Let’s not let people die because they’ve been counting on food supplies and medicine and other righteous services that that organization provided. I think, as I understand it, Trump’s vision is to put it under the auspices of the State Department and keep the life-saving materials and services flowing. And that’s as it should be. But… Look, what do the defenders of USAID have to say about all the goofy, crazy things that have been uncovered about it? Do you just ignore it? Nothing to see here? Oh, nothing? Don’t pay no attention to funding PBS or the BBC or Politico? No, no, no, no, don’t pay attention to that. We’re sending food to starving kids. All right, but what about all the other stuff? Does it matter? No, no, no, no, no. It’s horrifying, somebody told me this morning. Horrifying that the cruelty of Trump would be to dismantle this agency that I love so much. Oh, really? You love taxpayers being forced to pay for things that the vast majority of taxpayers object to? See, it matters. It’s all part of this, and you can’t… I am just astounded at the pushback that he’s getting on some of these things. All fulfillment of a promise. These are promises he made, and these are promises kept. And it’s as if they were hoping he wouldn’t fulfill his campaign promises. It’s like they wished he wasn’t a man of his word. Well, he is. And he’s delivering to the American people exactly what they voted for. And as the caller a few minutes ago pointed out, Considering the margin of victory on November 5th, despite everything he was up against, he wins the popular vote, he wins the electoral college, he wins every single swing state. Think about what the margin of victory would have been if the deck hadn’t been rigged, stacked against him. If the media, if academia, if Hollywood, if all of the machines weren’t Targeting him, the court system, the judicial system, the attorneys general, the Justice Department. If all of that hadn’t been aimed at him, what a landslide it would have been. So it’s astounding to see where we are as a country. And there’s a lot of really good things. Look at this poll that just came out from CBS. I mean, 53%? You would think, with all the weeping and gnashing of teeth that Trump haters are doing right now, that his approval rating would be in the toilet. He should be underwater, right? Not according to CBS News.
SPEAKER 11 :
Our CBS poll finds that a majority of Americans, 53 percent, approve of the job he’s doing. That’s a better approval number than he ever reached during his first term in the White House. Joining us with more is our executive director of elections and surveys, Anthony Salvato. Good to see you, Anthony. What’s driving this?
SPEAKER 01 :
I will keep it simple, Margaret. He’s doing in the eyes of the public what he said he would do in the campaign. There’s political value in that. In fact, 70 percent of people say he’s doing what he promised. That’s whether they approve of him or not. Now, there’s another part of this that continues over from the campaign. There were words that he was described as being tough, being energetic. And he still is today in big majority numbers. So as people take a look in these first few weeks, there’s been a lot of activity. They’re getting that general sense of governance. And that’s being reflected in these early numbers.
SPEAKER 11 :
So that’s perception. What about the actual policies?
SPEAKER 01 :
Well, let’s start with the ones that are popular. And again, these echo a lot of what we saw in the campaign. The idea of deporting those in the country illegally continues to be popular. We saw that in the campaign. Sending troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, again, majority in favor. We’d seen that in the campaign. For his supporters in particular, the focus on ending DEI is popular. We had seen in the campaign a lot of them thought those processes had gone too far.
SPEAKER 18 :
You know how hard that had to be for CBS? CBS. That wasn’t Newsmax. That wasn’t the Greg Kelly show. That wasn’t The Five. That’s Margaret Brennan on CBS looking constipated, having to report, oh, wow, the American people robustly approve of what he’s doing. So when you have a Trump hater in your life who acts out towards you, Understand, it’s the country that they resent. It’s not one man. It’s not Donald Trump. And looking at the… I love this headline. President Trump booed by the crowd. We ought to… What is the spun? Does anybody know what the spun is? I’m afraid to ask. With my luck, it’s like watching a Kanye tweet. With my luck. I mean, it’s just… And here’s what… Florida just texted me, hey, Mike, how about drunk and delusional at the not-so-Super Bowl? See you on the cruise. Well, it’s gaslighting. Does that mean the crowd roaring its approval of Donald Trump was drunk and delusional? Maybe that’s how you feel. I hope not, especially if you’re going to go on the Alaska cruise with us. We want to get along. I don’t want you to push me overboard. Arkansas. Mike, I think it’s like those experiments where someone says a word and some people think it’s one thing and another thinks it’s something entirely different. People hear what they want to hear. Or they’re just lying. I wish I knew the answer to it. Again, play the clip 15. This is the moment. The second Trump appears on the Jumbotron during the Star Spangled Banner, when John Batiste is singing this beautiful rendition of our national anthem, and for just a few brief seconds, for just a couple of seconds, they minimized his appearance there. You know that if a Democrat sitting president had made history by attending the Super Bowl, it’s all we would have seen.
SPEAKER 17 :
Oh, my goodness. Look at this.
SPEAKER 18 :
First time a president has ever attended. With Trump, it was just little drips and drips, little bits and pieces, a little tiny few seconds here, a few seconds there. And I’m grateful to the production staff that decided to put Trump on the screen for just three or four seconds during the Star Spangled Banner. resulting in this reaction.

SPEAKER 06 :
He’s the happy conservative warrior. From the Relief Factor Studios, here’s Mike Geller.
SPEAKER 18 :
Super Bowl Sunday is an American tradition. Yesterday I… Planted myself on the couch about 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I enjoy the whole spectacle of the ads and the hype and the analysis. Two great teams, although Kansas City not looking so great last night. And congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s a great story. But for me, there was only one moment that mattered. One moment that filled me with so much hope and optimism and joy at the roaring comeback of Donald Trump. And we’re witnessing a real, real renaissance, a real, just a watershed moment in American history. A guy that they tried everything they could to stop every way they could possibly imagine. Sue him. Charge him. Shoot him. Stop him any way you can. And the American people said, nope, not this time around. We’re going to put this guy in the Oval Office. And the moment came when the Star Spangled Banner was being performed by singer Jean-Baptiste. And it was a wonderful moment because I had a hunch. I thought, what if they show the committee on the Jumbotron? After all, it was the first time a sitting president has ever attended the Super Bowl, which is kind of crazy when you think about it. And he told Brett Baer in the pre-show interview, I felt it was something that an American president should do. President Trump even admitted, I was surprised to find out no sitting president had ever gone. But I wanted to be there. I wanted to have the American people see the president at the game. So if you’re just listening to us right now, when you start hearing the overwhelming cheers and the ovation and the huge groundswell of cheering during the national anthem, it is when it’s the moment when they’re showing Trump with his hand in a salute. as the Commander-in-Chief during the performance of the National Anthem. This was the moment that, for me, was a glorious, astounding moment.
SPEAKER 09 :
With broad stripes and bright stars Through the perilous fight O’er the ramparts we watched
SPEAKER 18 :
Hearing that? Hear that? One of my sons excitedly texted me, Dad, did you see that? I said, yep. America does seem to be healing. And incidentally, there was a moment when Taylor Swift was shown on the Jumbotron and she was booed. Now, I don’t want to make too much of that. But many believe it’s a sign of a real cultural and political shift in the United States of America. That America’s supposed sweetheart, the singer, superstar, Taylor Swift, gets booed for a variety of reasons. Very controversial, I would agree, polarizing president gets cheered. Wildly cheering. Football players coming over to shake his hand. A couple of brave members of the Kansas City Chiefs wanting to shake his hand before the game when he was standing on the sideline. And you know why he was on the sidelines, incidentally, before the game? Because he was consoling and greeting family members of those who were killed by that monster on Bourbon Street a few weeks ago on New Year’s Eve. So there were just a lot of great moments, and I’ve been thinking a lot about that moment, that snapshot. I know it’s just a snapshot. It’s just one thing. But to me, it’s a big thing. And I’m wondering what people who hate Trump think of that moment. I’m genuinely interested in how you feel if you are against Donald Trump and his agenda, if you don’t like MAGA, if you don’t like an America First agenda, if you just don’t like the guy. Or J.D. Vance. If you’re anti-Trump, what must you be feeling to know that he got this hero’s welcome at the Super Bowl? So I want to turn my phones over to those kinds of people for just a few minutes. 1-800-655-MIKE. And we’ve been kind of, Teresa’s been screening calls, because a little while ago I put out this appeal, because I want to spend some time hearing what you’re feeling in your heart and in your head. You’re against Trump. We get that. Okay? We don’t need to argue about it. You feel the way you feel. We feel the way we feel. So be it. I want to know what you’re experiencing after you see that clip. Let’s start with Warren up in Minnesota. Hey, Warren, thanks very much for joining us today. How are you? Hey, good morning, Mike. How are you? I’m good. So you’re against the Trump agenda, correct? You don’t like Donald Trump.
SPEAKER 14 :
Well, in some ways, yes.
SPEAKER 18 :
Okay, so what did you think about him getting the hero’s welcome he got at the Superdome?
SPEAKER 14 :
I’m so sad that so many people are having their feelings hurt.
SPEAKER 18 :
Feelings hurt about what? About him being cheered? Yeah, their feelings are being hoarded. Okay, you’re not quite what we’re looking for. I’m trying to find, why is this so hard, Teresa? I want to find people who genuinely dislike Trump and what you’re thinking in your heart and your head over that kind of ovation. Let’s try Calvin in Augusta, Georgia. Hi, Calvin. Welcome to the show. How are you?
SPEAKER 10 :
Hey, Mike, how you doing? I’m good. I’m against you. I don’t have nothing against you, but when you just go to the White House and tell the White House and you still be recognized as the president, that is not fair to the United States people of America.
SPEAKER 18 :
Okay, so you’re anti-Trump. What did you think about all the cheering and the ovation and the hero’s welcome that he received at the Super Bowl, Calvin?
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I applaud you. You should acknowledge him as the president. But I just know that he’s fake and he’s not for the poor people. But you should acknowledge him as the president. I’m not against him being the president. I’m just against him because he’s a phony and he’s like a counterfeit dollar. Okay.
SPEAKER 18 :
I’m trying real hard to get you to answer a legitimate question. We get you don’t like Trump, and all you’re doing is telling us all the things you don’t like about Trump. I’m asking what you think about a stadium cheering for him.
SPEAKER 10 :
They’re applauding him because he is the president?
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, that’s why they have problems.
SPEAKER 10 :
So he is the president.
SPEAKER 18 :
So you would have done that. You would have cheered for him if you saw him.
SPEAKER 10 :
No, I wouldn’t cheer for him. I wouldn’t cheer for him. Like I said, he’s not just for the poor people.
SPEAKER 18 :
I know. He’s not for the poor people. He’s against poor people. Oh, Lord. I came into work so optimistic that we could pull this off. I’m trying so hard here. You can’t fault me for trying, okay? I am trying. And Teresa even had time to screen. I said, Teresa, let’s find people who don’t like Trump who want to explain how they’re feeling, how they’re reacting to the way he was received at the Super Bowl. Let me try Robbie in Laurel, Florida. Hi, Robbie. How’s it going?
SPEAKER 04 :
Oh, not bad, Mr. Gallagher. My biggest pet peeve against the press right now is pinching the penny from production. What the heck is wrong with this guy? Do you want to know what it costs? It goes down to the penny. Why are we going to take the penny?
SPEAKER 18 :
Hey, Robbie, can you hear my voice?
SPEAKER 04 :
Can you hear me?
SPEAKER 18 :
I can hear you now, yes. Okay, you can hear me now. Do you know what it costs to produce a penny, Robbie, even though you’ve changed the subject and you’re not the caller that I’m looking for?
SPEAKER 03 :
I’m going to answer another question, too. I’m asking you if you know what it costs. I’m going to answer another question, too. Do you know what it costs to produce a penny? Three and a half cents or three and a half dollars? Three point… $3.50. Please go away. Why are we getting all the kooks? Is this so hard? I mean, look, I’m pretty good at this. I’m a pretty skilled talk show host. I can’t find somebody that doesn’t sound like a babbling idiot?
SPEAKER 18 :
My goodness! Why is this so hard? Give me your take. If you don’t like Trump, what are you thinking about the hero’s welcome he got? I’m going to try two or three more, and if you sound like a… Nut job? I’ll move on, okay? Let me try Mike in Michigan.
SPEAKER 03 :
Oh, my goodness. Hello, Mike. How are you?
SPEAKER 14 :
I’m fine. How are you, buddy? Good. Do you hate Trump? I do. I felt sorry for the guy that was turning the mask on.
SPEAKER 18 :
Can you talk into your mouthpiece? We can’t hear you because you sound muffled. Please. I felt real sorry for the guy that was singing the national anthem. You felt bad for the guy singing the anthem because people cheered for Trump when he was singing? Yep. All right, what do you think about all the people who cheered for Trump during the anthem? I thought it was crazy. Crazy? So it was mass psychosis? Yep. They’re all crazy? Yep. Okay, that was good. That was a really good exchange. Thank you, Mike. Honest to gosh, I may keep going on this because I’m going to find somebody who I can have a normal conversation with. I don’t know what it’s going to take, but I’m just on a mission here. I’m like the Blues Brothers. I’m on a mission from God. I’m going to find somebody who’s opposed to Donald Trump who will tell me how you feel about in recognizing the heroic or the hero’s welcome he got, the ovation, the cheering. This is unbelievable.
SPEAKER 17 :
I can’t even get people to talk into their phone. Yeah, Mike, it’s a penny. It’s a penny. Hey, what’s wrong with this guy? It’s a penny. It’s $3 to make a penny.
SPEAKER 18 :
Oh, boy. Is it my vacation time yet? Can I go somewhere? Isn’t there a beach somewhere with my name on it? We’re going to try one more segment, and then we will get into more. But I think this matters. I really want to know. Are you feeling remorseful that maybe you’ve been wrong all along about this guy? Maybe you’re wrong about MAGA? Maybe Americans do favor what he’s doing? Could that be the case? I just want to know. I’m trying hard. 800-655-MIKE.

Gallagher. Every day, Mike visits with Mark Davis, morning host on 660 AM, The Answer in Dallas. Here’s today’s Eminem experience.
SPEAKER 18 :
They’re mad at the country. And that’s what we’ve got to remember. I shared with you a personal note this morning about a longtime friend of mine who wants to sever, I guess, an aspect of our relationship because for this particular friend, gutting U.S. aid is a bridge too far. What? What?
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back of the friendship is the USAID funding cut? Bloat. The bloat of USAID. The fraud.
SPEAKER 18 :
The corruption. Well, but I’ve said over and over again. It’s an organization that has done a world of good. We can’t ignore that. I use the phrase, don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Make sure that the life-saving aid provided by this non-charity, remember, it’s not a charity. It’s a government agency. You’ve got to sustain that. You’ve got to keep that going. Nonetheless, for this particular years-long friend of mine, that’s it. We’re on two different sides. We’re pulling.
SPEAKER 17 :
So what? So what?
SPEAKER 05 :
I know we’re on different sides. I know. Hasn’t he known that for years? Hasn’t everybody who’s fractured a relationship or a family? Haven’t they been aware of this? And I mentioned the audience this morning. I’m noticing fresh waves of this. The election started it and then everybody kind of got over it. OK, you won. But now that Trump is in office and has been for three weeks today, right, they’re noticing him actually doing things that everything that you and I love, the other side hates. That’s kind of baked in. But some people hate it so much that they’ve decided to destroy the love that they have for friends and family members. It is starting again.
SPEAKER 18 :
It is starting again, and it’s profoundly sad. And I would point out, I hate the whataboutism, but the time that we could have done it to them was when leftists were burning down American cities over George Floyd, and they cheered it on. And you know what? We didn’t say to them, well, you’re dead to me. I’m done. We didn’t do that to them. We typically don’t do that.
SPEAKER 05 :
And we could we could go to liberal because Mike, you and I are both proud to have liberal friends, occasional liberal family member. You know how easy it would be for us to get up in their face and say, you’re OK with the killing of babies. You’re OK with waves of illegal immigrants. You’re OK with girls playing in boys, boys playing in girls sports. You favor those things. You are out of my life. You know how easy that would be. We don’t do it because we know that’s not what you do as a human being.
SPEAKER 18 :
You said earlier that it’s so sad to see people fracture friendships and family over this. It’s profound. Look, I admit after I got this note from this year’s long friend of mine, I’m not ashamed to admit it. I had a good cry. I don’t like losing good people from my life. But I also, because I know that I’m drawn to people who… who disagree with me. I like having people who disagree with me in my life. I like robust debate. I like learning from them and where they’re coming from. That’s important to me. And this is not the only one. And I think I’m a little unusual from maybe you. I’m going to go a little out on a limb here. You say we all have liberal friends. I suspect I have more than maybe most or more than you do. I think I have a lot more. Theater stuff and people I know that are just in a different universe from most sort of ordinary conservatives. And a lot of these people I find wonderful. They’re kind in many cases. They’re loving. In fact, the friend who really… hurt me with this email today is somebody who’s always reached out to me over the holidays because he knows I lost my parents at Christmas and knows about my loss of Denise and is kind. He’s a good man. He’s a good dad. He’s a good father. He’s a good husband. But they just, you said it, Mark, it breaks them. It makes this hatred, they become completely irrational, it seems to me, and to a point where I hate to be mean here, but you say it. Hatred makes smart people kind of dumb and makes nice people kind of mean. They just turn into something that they’re not, and it does break my heart on so many levels. But, hey, so be it. I hope that time will heal. Look, let’s look at what Trump is, and again, for the record. Just because this is fresh in my mind. I don’t want the good things that USAID has done thrown out the window. Hopefully Marco Rubio and the State Department will sustain it. We’ll make sure that kids don’t die. We don’t want people to die. We don’t want people to starve. But the bloat and the profound mismanagement of taxpayer dollars cannot be ignored. And I’m sick of us trying to protect it.
SPEAKER 05 :
Of course that’s what they’re doing. Byron Donalds was on Real Time with Maher and did a great job of explaining this. This is so profound, and the government is so bloated, sometimes you’ve just got to go in and hit a massive pause button and then start from scratch and then see, okay, what should we be doing and what should we not? Mark, look at the penny story.
SPEAKER 18 :
Can I give you some fake news? Yeah. And I have to blame President Trump a little bit for this. He gave a little bit of fake news. He said it cost two cents. to produce one penny he was wrong you want to know what the real number is according to the new york times according to axios the actual cost according to the u.s treasury in 20 in fiscal year 2024 3.69 cents it costs almost four times a penny to produce a penny now by the way that’s stupid So why in the world do – oh, and now you’re mad? We’ve got to – he’s taking on things large and small. He’s taking – you know what’s next? The Pentagon. He’s going to look at the department. He’s going to get rid of the Department of Education. You know what? That’s why the Super Bowl stadium cheered yesterday. Thank God he won.
SPEAKER 17 :
The change is real. Thank God he won.
SPEAKER 18 :
Thank God he won. And you know what? We’re going to get through all this. We are. And we’re going to have moments where we’re frustrated and we’re sad, but so be it.
SPEAKER 05 :
And it’s okay. It’s okay. And let me take a minute with the folks watching on the stream and the folks who will watch sometimes the replay that you do. If there’s angst and if there’s ill will and blah, blah, blah. Let me offer something, if I may, to the Mike Gallagher audience as well as my own to make everybody feel great. Something that can truly unify if anything can truly unify. And that’s a trip you and I have made. One of my favorite trips for food for the poor. You went with me to Guatemala. It was magnificent to be with you. And we are taking a look at people in our hemisphere. Some poverty like America will never see. We should help people in our own country, of course. But a one-time gift of $100 at Food for the Poor will feed two kids for a year. So if I can ask everybody listening to both our shows to go to 660amtheanswer.com, click the Give Life banner. And if you don’t have $100, you got $20, we’ll take it. and we appreciate it so much. SPEAKER 18 :
And to those who say that we conservatives are cold and cruel and we don’t want to get… Here’s a perfect example of why they’re wrong. You know, there’s a perfect example of how hard you and I work for organizations like Food for the Poor. And I am so proud to stand with you And I hope everybody listening today will go to 660amtheanswer.com and make a donation. And let’s keep, hey, fighting the good fight.
