Boston Red Sox rookie outfielder Roman Anthony is finalizing an eight-year, $130-million extension with the club. The deal is pending a physical and will reportedly include a club option, keeping him with the organization through 2034.

Sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan: “BREAKING: Outfielder Roman Anthony and the Boston Red Sox are finalizing an eight-year, $130 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. The deal, which is pending a physical, includes a club option and will keep Anthony under team control through 2034.”

A native of West Palm Beach, FL, Anthony, 21, was drafted by the Red Sox out of Florida’s Stoneman Douglas High School in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft, signing him to a $2.5 million deal. He went on to become the sport’s top minor-league prospect, with both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline ranking him No. 1 this June before the Red Sox called him up to make his major-league debut June 9.  Through 46 games, the 21-year-old Anthony is batting .283 with 45 hits, two home runs, 19 runs batted in and an OPS of .828 in 159 at-bats.
