Israel Strikes Hezbollah as Ceasefire with Lebanon Teeters on the Edge

(Worthy News) – The fragile US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is showing severe cracks, as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a fresh wave of airstrikes Monday against Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley and southern Lebanon — responding to relentless ceasefire violations by the Iran-backed terror organization.

The strikes followed a deadly Hezbollah drone attack Sunday that claimed the life of IDF soldier Idan Fooks and wounded six others.

In a rare and encouraging moment, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stood firm, condemning Hezbollah directly — telling a delegation from southern Lebanese villages that negotiating with Israel “is not betrayal.” He declared: “Betrayal is carried out by those who take their country to war to serve foreign interests.” Aoun’s bold stand is a reminder that there are leaders willing to choose their people over the radical agenda of Iran’s terrorist proxies.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem doubled down, calling peace negotiations a “grave sin” and defiantly vowing his group would never disarm. Chillingly, a Hezbollah source told Al-Jazeera the group is deploying suicide bombers against IDF troops — tactics resurrected from the darkest days of the 1980s and 90s.

In northern Israel, ordinary families are paying the price. Community leaders — defying national government guidelines — suspended schools for at least 24 hours along the border, declaring their regions “orange” zones as drones circled overhead and children ran for shelters.

“We will not wait for a disaster before making life-saving decisions,” said Moshe Davidovich, head of the Forum of Front-Line Communities.

Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met with the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, urging accountability and economic pressure against Hezbollah — noting that the terror group has brazenly used UN peacekeeping positions as shields for its hostile military operations.

The IDF also seized a significant Hezbollah weapons cache, including FPV drones, RPGs, anti-tank explosives, and remote detonation systems — a stark reminder of the sophisticated and deadly arsenal arrayed against Israel.
