Yes, because intelligent thought is not allowed in some corners of Colorado Republican politics.

No, they shoot that down.

Yeah, that’s foreboding.

Really quick, Todd. Andy and I have been trying to get on that rhino watch for the wall of shame, but we haven’t made it yet. We have done everything we could. We’re not as good as you. We are not.
SPEAKER 08 :
I’ll put in a word, I know the owners. Oh, there you go.

My wife has gone so far as to say, Andy, why are you not Todd Watkins? And, you know, it’s hurtful, but it just makes you more of a man when you are on the Rhino Wall of Shame.
SPEAKER 04 :
On the Wall of Shame.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, I want to get there. Todd, what is going on right now? The state party, by the way, just came through an election, so… Money, usually that’s when they have no money left because they should have used it all on the election, you know, helping our people get elected. I’ve written several posts online about how actually the state party dramatically underperformed the national average for Republicans in this last election. We did not do well here in Colorado. We picked up a few seats. We should have done much better. And now are you telling us that they are spending money on a whole different effort?
SPEAKER 08 :
yes yeah there are so as as we discussed earlier and I’ll you know please jump in and ask questions to steer this so that we make this as clear as uncomplicated as possible because it is a rather complicated thing unless you’re a total political party nerd so Dave is as the chair of the Colorado GOP has gone retained that the same attorney as before and they’re asking the appeals court to overturn the judge in Arapahoe County who lifted the restraining order against Nancy Palazzi and me for the meeting that we tried to have in July, but it was TRO’d. The judge lifted it because basically Dave and his legal team lied to the judge.
SPEAKER 06 :
Whoa, whoa, whoa. So wait a minute. But you’ve already held that meeting. You held it in August or July or whatever. But you’ve already held that meeting.
SPEAKER 08 :
It was in August.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, you held that meeting. Because the TRO was lifted, the temporary restraining order, so you’ve already held the meeting under the legal terms of the TRO being lifted at that time. And you’re telling me, you’re telling us, that the state party right now is spending big money on legal fees to try to get that overturned on a meeting that’s already been held.
SPEAKER 08 :
Right. It’s a little bit like… I assume it’s somewhat of a morbid analogy, but it’s a little bit like pardoning somebody after they’ve been executed. I mean, what good does that do? We held the meeting. If Dave had held this meeting like we asked him to initially, evidently he would have prevailed. Well, they did prevail. A judge in El Paso County said… Dave is still the chair that we did not have enough numbers at the August meeting to remove him, so he remains the chair. So this is all moot. It would seem, until you unpack what they’re asking, and they’re using this, it appears, as an opportunity to have a higher court, the appellate court is higher than a county or a district court, to make some declarations as to the proper role of the executive committee, the proper role of the judiciary within political parties. And that one’s a little bit… It’s simultaneously ironic and hypocritical, because Dave, who started the legal lawfare in this, who went to the courts to intervene to stop us from following the bylaws… And he’s going to now an appellate court to ask them to make a determination as to what role the judiciary has in political parties, ostensibly to say, we didn’t have a role here, the judge was wrong to lift that TRO, and courts shouldn’t intervene with political parties, which is, again, ironic and hypocritical. He’s started the legal battle and now going to a court to ask them to basically admonish themselves for intervening at all. But really what he wants is to have the courts make a declaration or a decision that the executive committee can steer the central committee, essentially placing the executive committee in a near plenary position. authoritative role within the party.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay, I’ll go really quick here. Todd, what you’re saying is he would dramatically consolidate power for himself. Because for those who don’t know, the Central Committee is from all over the state. It’s over 400 members. The Executive Committee is just a couple dozen people, and a large majority of them are total loyalists to Dave Williams. So if the executive committee is suddenly given much greater power, he is given much greater power and he can be kept in power. Am I correct?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, that’s what one would assume he would use that to do. And also a point is it’s 24, 25 in the executive state executive committee and six are handpicked by the chair. So, you know, completely loyal. You’re right. up to the point where even six are hand-ticked by the chair. I would have to think that what they want to do here is there was a bit of a foreshadowing at the assembly where there was a resolution passed at the assembly in Pueblo that basically instructing the central committee to opt out of the primary committee So I’ve got to think that, yes, Andy’s right. He wants to consolidate power. That’s the larger picture. But the more immediate near target is to effectuate a canceling of the Republican primary by way of opting out.
SPEAKER 04 :
Can they, you know, I guess I’m confused, Todd. I didn’t think that because that was passed as a ballot measure in the first place, I didn’t think either party has the ability to do that. You know, school me on that.
SPEAKER 08 :
It’s in the statute, 14702. It’s in the statute. And this is how they got around, they meaning, you know, the Kent theory and the people who got this through and then maybe the Democrat legislature that actually enacted it. The way out of it to not violate a First Amendment conflict having to do with freedom of association is that the party, any party, the Republican or Democrat, upon 75% of the total membership of the Central Committee can opt out of the primary. So in other words, only the Democrats would have a primary election. The Republicans would then nominate their candidates to the general ballot. by way of assembly. It’s right there in 14702.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, yeah, and obviously the assembly process greatly favors Dave and his loyalists as candidates. In other words, Dave very well could have become our candidate for CD5. had it not been for a primary where he got blown out by 30 points. And so obviously Dave and his cronies want the primary gone. But what I want to know is, are you saying that they’re saying with this lawsuit, they can try to give that power to the executive committee over the central committee? How are they going to get rid of the primary without the central committee?
SPEAKER 08 :
So one of the questions that they’re asking, according to their filing, is, to determine the ability of the executive committee to direct the central committee. And this goes back to that foreshadowing of the assembly where the assembly passed a resolution to instruct the central committee to opt out of the primary. So deductive reasoning tells me that what he’s trying to do here is use a judge’s decision to say, well, Our executive committee that is wildly loyal to me and will do anything I ask them to do will instruct the central committee to opt out. Now, what that looks like if the central committee doesn’t comply, I guess they just, well, we’re only going to count the yes votes.
SPEAKER 04 :
Okay. Okay.

Which would, by the way, be possible. We’re talking about people who tried to convert non-votes into yes votes a year ago September.

Again, Todd Watkins with us today explaining some of what’s going on inside of the GOP as far as the lawsuits that have happened and some of the back and forth that’s gone on. Really quick, Todd, before I get going, who is Hamden and Piggott LLP? In other words, that is some attorneys that the state party is paying. Who are they?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, that’s it in a nutshell there. They are the attorneys that filed the original lawsuit. I know that Piggott is the one that I’m most familiar with, Dave Piggott. And he had something to do with a race, a House district race, a number of years ago. I don’t know, six, eight years ago, something like that. But he is the attorney that Dave has been using for all of this.
SPEAKER 04 :
So we’ve spent in two months 55 grand with those guys.
SPEAKER 08 :
I was told it was more.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, I just found two. I’ve just been searching since we started talking. So, so far, two of them is $55,000.
SPEAKER 06 :
Todd, the bottom line is we just came through an election. They’re supposed to have no money in their pockets, okay? This is what they criticized KBB for. By the end of her term, she had no money in the coffers. Well, of course you don’t. You just finished an election cycle. You’re supposed to spend it all. Okay.
SPEAKER 08 :
They didn’t spend anything on it. Well, I mean, they spent money on Dave’s race for a CD5, including some defamatory pieces. In the primary. Yeah, in the primary. They spent some money in the primary. This is hearsay, but I’ve been advised that they’ve got over six figures left over. that had to do with the general election race.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right now they’re sitting on about $275,000 in the bank account. I’m looking at the FEC report, and for all of you listening, you can look at that. And now I’m up to, for this particular law firm, we’re at $65,000, so I don’t know where it ends. I’ve got to keep probing, Todd. But again, at the end of the day, just as a side note, this is also not a law firm that I can tell specializes in anything legal. politically speaking. This is basically a family law office that specializes in, I don’t know, personal injury, business law, estate planning, things along those lines. These are not what I would consider to be experts in this particular area. And Todd, I’ve been a business guy for years, and I’ve done all sorts of things, legally speaking, over the years on different things. And I mean, I don’t know how much work this law firm has done but they would have literally had to be working night and day for several weeks to spend $65,000.
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, they had to learn political law. I can tell you that their initial filing to stop us, that was the first time they’d ever done anything political under Title I of the Colorado Revised Statutes.
SPEAKER 04 :
Okay. I mean, bottom line, we as a party are spending money in areas that, frankly, I don’t feel we should be. Second of all, we’re doing it to essentially—and make sure I’m saying this correctly, Todd— we’re essentially doing it so that we can have our little GOP chair dictator continue to stay in power. Frankly, Todd, if this happens the way you’re saying, if this goes through indefinitely, I guess, until he finally decides to step down, because at the end of the day, the power he’ll have— will be unreversible, and who’s going to absurd him from that particular seat?
SPEAKER 08 :
I mean, that’s a very likely scenario.
SPEAKER 04 :
Am I thinking correctly, or am I off somewhere?
SPEAKER 08 :
No, no, I think so. I don’t know how much he could use a sort of, you know, omnipotent sort of ruling, granted omnipotent powers, how he could use that during the organizational meeting in March. I mean, that is still required by law, by statute, to have an organizational meeting in March to elect officers. How he could affect that, you know, use your imagination. They certainly have.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, okay, and again, I want to make sure I’m following along correctly. If what they’re doing in this particular filing and getting this appeal process to potentially overturn some things and go the direction— Wouldn’t he then, if it goes the direction you talked about in the first segment, if he gets that done, he could actually go into this organizational meeting with a lot more power and the ability to control through the executive committee the rest of the committee, even when it comes to the organization of the meeting?
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 04 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 08 :
Make sure that I’m following correctly.
SPEAKER 04 :
And then, by the way, that’s how, for all of you listening, this is how dictatorships get started, Todd, as you know.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes. I mean, just look at North Korea, look at China. You know, it’s cliche, but the Nazi Party did it in, what was that, 34, 35?
SPEAKER 06 :
Look, Dave has already come out and said that he wants to, and I’m using my words, but in so many words, purge dissenting voices in the upcoming reorganizational meeting. And we have to keep in mind, while Dave’s loyalists, who are very organized, there aren’t that many. It’s a small group, but they are highly organized. While they cannot overwhelm a primary… and he gets clobbered by 30 points, they can overwhelm assemblies. And they can overwhelm reorganizational meetings. Why? Because these are tended by well under 1% of Colorado Republicans. So a very organized and motivated group of loyalists can overwhelm these. And that’s how they’ve seized power so far in the Colorado Republican Party.
SPEAKER 04 :
And again, for everybody listening, those of you that are either on Dave’s side, not on Dave’s side, I don’t care what side of the aisle you’re on. I’m just trying to explain that, Todd, this is how these types of—call it what it is—dictatorships or even, you know, you get this rogue pastor that wants to take over a particular church and he wants to stay in there indefinitely. These are the way that internal— things happen whereby those individuals can stay in power indefinitely. I’ve seen it happen more than once, and that’s essentially what’s happening right now with Dave Williams, which, by the way, over two years ago, not long after he became chair, I told everybody this is exactly what he would do. So my predictions are coming true, everyone.
SPEAKER 08 :
He doesn’t need numbers. He just needs to solidify and… and implant that insular circle around him. Correct. As long as they’re there, he doesn’t need numbers. He just needs 25 people that agree with him because they make all the decisions.
SPEAKER 04 :
All you need are your closest cronies on your side, and voila, you’ve now got whatever you need. You can stay there indefinitely. Your $200K a year salary could even be increased if you want. I mean, at the end of the day, Todd, this thing can just go as long as he decides to have it go. And, again, I’m not trying to be proud here, but, Todd, I predicted some of this stuff earlier. Again, ask Andy. Within a couple of months of he becoming chair, I started predicting these things, and voila, here we are.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yeah, you’re basically saying he looks like a dictator, the way he likes to do things. Look, here’s the thing. A lot of people may be thinking, oh, you know what? This is all inside baseball. This is just the Colorado Republican Party. Okay, let me tell you where the rubber hits the road. He wants to get rid of our participation in the primary. Had we not had a primary… had we allowed the assemblies Right. To choose our candidates in this last election. That means that the candidates that they wanted, that the Colorado State Party wanted, that Dave’s people, his loyalists endorsed. Had we wound up with those candidates right now, the U.S. House of Representatives would be in Democrat hands. Right. OK, we would have lost CD3, CD8 for sure. And CD5 most likely. We have a two or three seat majority is all. Yeah. Right now we have a well, it’s a five seat majority, which means if you flip three, that means they have one seat majority. And the thing is, is that, guys, if Dave and his loyalists had gotten their way this last election. the Democrats right now would be running the U.S. House of Representatives and hamstringing Donald Trump. Correct. Okay? That’s how important this is.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s right. For everybody listening to Andy’s point, Todd, this is not just inside politics. It is, but because it is, it can have grave outcomes upon what happens not only in the state of Colorado, but on a national basis as well.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, what the party does internally has tremendous impact. impact externally.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s right. That’s right. Yeah, it really will have… If this goes the direction that I think Dave wants it to go, Dave, or Todd, I mean, I hate to say this, but Andy and Todd, at the end of the day, we will be lucky… to win anything future Colorado-wise, we will be doing good to win anything that isn’t totally 100% red. If there’s an ounce of blue or purple there, we will not be winning moving down the road.
SPEAKER 08 :
Right. And I want to, you know, I’m sure we’re getting to the end of this segment here, but also understand that Dave wants to be in Congress. That’s, I think, what is absolutely motivating.
SPEAKER 04 :
Todd, I said that almost two years ago as well, that ultimately his end goal would have been to have ran for either… Honestly, he wanted CD4. Loren Boebert screwed that up for him because he really wanted 4 because he figured that’d be the best shoe in. That didn’t work out, so he had to go to 5. 5 didn’t work out for all the obvious reasons and folks like us being on air talking about what was really going on in the first place. But no, Todd, I agree with you 100%. I said that even… not long after Dave became chair, that his ultimate goal is to be in D.C. and to camp out there as long as he possibly can.
SPEAKER 06 :
That’s right. Todd, quick question, honestly. Dave Williams is so hated outside his hardcore base within the Republic. We’re talking only a faction within the Republican Party supports this guy. Nobody outside the party or obviously in the Democrat Party or unaffiliated. Could he win any race in a general election? I mean, maybe even CD4. I wonder if he could have won. Is there any race he could win?
SPEAKER 08 :
I mean, if he went back to his house district, maybe.
SPEAKER 06 :
No, I’m talking I’m talking U.S. House.
SPEAKER 08 :
No, no, no. I don’t see that.
SPEAKER 04 :
I don’t either, because you end up with a a whole different. As you guys know, there’s a whole different, you know, wider array of voters. And that’s why we had such a hard time, even with, you know, Evans winning, which, by the way, as you know, Todd, Dave didn’t want because he didn’t want Gabe in the first place. I mean, we can go down the list of these things that have gone on that we’ve talked about, you know, At nauseam here on this particular program, and I don’t want to rehash those, but I just want to remind everybody and Todd, all you’re doing is solidifying what I’ve been saying for almost two years now, just shy of a few months of two years. I’ve been saying exactly this, that Dave is only in this for one person. It’s Dave Williams. Those that are around him that are his loyalists are getting a snow job to the max. They think that they’re in the inner circle and that Dave is their best friend. And, Todd, nothing could be farther from the truth. This guy will cut them off at a moment’s notice if it means he gets to move forward.
SPEAKER 08 :
I’m not going to argue with that at all, John.
SPEAKER 04 :
And I’ve been saying this, and again, not bragging, but all of you listening, I have been saying this on air publicly longer than anybody else in Colorado has.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, if he’s not removed, he will run the state party completely into the ground.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yep. Well, Todd, I’ve already said, and I hope I’m wrong in this, but I’ve already said that even if there’s an immediate change this coming, whatever, February or March, and something happens to Dave, it’s still a long road to get things back in Colorado, back on track by anybody else that would come along in lieu of Dave Williams. If Dave stays, it’ll be a decade or more before anything changes, and it may never, ever change.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yeah, you’ve got to figure that if a new slate of chair and vice chair officers are put in place in March. that two-year term is going to be a lot of damage control. I don’t see a lot of advancement, just a lot of stopping the bleeding.
SPEAKER 04 :
And you’ve got two years’ worth of trying to get things back together from the division that Dave has created. And if Dave gets in there for another two years, Todd, it’s not just a decade, it’s beyond a decade before you can get things back on track. At that point, Todd, I hate to say this, Colorado’s done. You might as well move and go somewhere else.
SPEAKER 06 :
The damage this guy has caused so far is so incredible. I’ve never seen a sledgehammer taken to the state party like this, ever. We are a laughingstock across the state.
SPEAKER 08 :
We’re the laughingstock across the country.
SPEAKER 04 :
Absolutely.

Yep.
SPEAKER 04 :
Todd, I appreciate the update. I guess keep us informed as to how things go. I mean, as you know, we’ll be watching this and so on. But if you want to come back and give us any updates on this, please let us know. Go ahead, Andy.

Yeah, we don’t. Yeah, you’d have to look at whatever their filings are. But I guarantee it’s tens of thousands. Probably just for filing that brief was probably close to five figures.

John, I couldn’t agree more. And one of the things I said, I always thought that one of the differences between conservatives and liberals is that conservatives had respect for the process. We felt that the end didn’t justify the means, and if we couldn’t get it done by the process, then we couldn’t get it done. Those on the left, I believe, by and large, believe that whatever we have to do to achieve the means… The end justifies the means. The end justifies the means. Now, we’ve all seen the comments, and I just did my podcast with a bunch, like one down, three to go, referring to Cigna, Aetna, and Humana. He didn’t do it. He was at our place playing Dungeon and Dragons when the shooting took place. If there was ever need for a GoFundMe campaign, this is it. How do we donate to it? Anyway, here’s the latest thing. My daughter, who lives out in Pennsylvania, sent me this. The Altoona McDonald’s, suddenly they went from, on Yelp, and I just checked, there’s now 133 one-star negative reviews, and I just checked. All but five of those 133 were posted yesterday.

And by the way, Google went in and deleted all of those because the same thing was happening on Google. Yelp, Joe, even as a business owner, I’ll tell you straight up, for those of you listening, if you use Yelp, shame on you. They are an evil extortion organization that does nothing but extort money out of businesses, and they should be shut down, Joe.

Right. And of those 129 that were posted yesterday, when you look at where the posters are from, John, they’re from Georgia. They’re from Minnesota. They’re from Phoenix.

Yep. Not even nearby where they would have been there. But yet, my point is Yelp will leave those up because that’s what Yelp does.

That’s what Yelp does. And, John, there’s these disgusting – and I actually checked. Here’s a picture of their bathroom. Well, it’s this disgusting, filthy bathroom picture like you’d expect to find in a gas service station restroom. And you can do what’s called a reverse image lookup.

But you even go on Axios, which is supposed to be a politically neutral site. The liberals have taken over Axios. Right. I mean, I mean, 90 percent of the comments on Axios, which are supporting this guy, you know, let me put this way of of the. 480 comments that are on the most recent XO story, more than 90% are in fully support of this guy. Unbelievable. So it doesn’t matter. And now if you go on the liberal websites, they’re even more extreme. Those are where they’re advocating killing the rest of these guys. But it’s just sickening to me how low they will stoop. and how extreme they are in their views. I mean, dangerous.

Real quick, getting back to Dave Williams, I just want to tidy up and finish up what we were talking to Todd Watkins about, and that’s this whole issue of what’s going on in the Colorado GOP, which, yes, we’ve talked about a lot, and I hate to keep naming, you know, talking about Dave. We haven’t done it for a while just because of the election and things that happened and so on, but… You know, I was really hard on Dave going into the election. I’m still going to be hard on Dave after the election because I think Dave is a charlatan. I think he’s a crook. I think he’s at the top of the list when it comes to cronyism. And the way I see Dave, and I was going to explain this to Andy during the break, but I said just wait and I’ll do it on air. This is how I view Dave. You look back at Dave’s history, where he came from, kind of worked in the family business of his wife down in Florida and so on, and then ended up coming to Colorado. And then he was a representative here, a state representative for a little while. And I had interviewed Dave a couple of times on air. He did a little bit of fill-in for somebody else at that time that we were interviewing. And I see Dave this way. He came to Colorado, got involved in Colorado politics, and realized that there was this faction, this hardcore, I don’t even call them Tea Party Republicans, but this liberty movement in Colorado. And I think Dave got here and said, hmm, hmm, if I could somehow entrench myself in that, and surround myself with individuals that feel like they’re like-minded. He sensed gullibility. Correct. And vulnerability. Correct. If I could get in there and get these people on my side and literally feed them what they want to hear. Because to Andy’s point, they’re very gullible. But if I could get in there and start doing the very things that they want, holy cow, I could be set up politically for life. Because not only could I throw in and end up being chair, but hey, while I’m at it, I’m going to go ahead and run for a house seat. Back to what Todd was saying, which, by the way, I firmly believe that’s exactly what he wanted. Right. I mean this when I say it. There was a rift between he and Lauren Bober when Lauren decided to go from her district to four. Part of that rift, I believe, is because Dave wanted four. Right. He knew that would be an easier seat.

That’s right. And he knew that would be an easier seat to win. Instead, he had to go to five. He got beat handily in the primary in five. And we ended up actually winning that when it was all said and done four. Unfortunately, in spite of Dave, we actually won CD five and CD eight, by the way, and CD three without without that or, you know, in spite of Dave, we still ended up winning those. So ultimately, folks, here’s my point. And those of you that are loyalists to Dave. I’ve said it many times. I’ll keep saying it. You better watch your back. Because Dave is one of those guys that while he’s hugging you, there’s a knife waiting to stab you immediately. If you do something he doesn’t like and isn’t going the way that he wants it to go, he will cut you loose in a heartbeat.

But she told me that the reason she supported, because I said, you can’t answer this and this and this. You can’t debate any. She said he was there for me at a time of need. He played on her emotions and she she reeled through the story of how he was there for her. and shed tears with her and helped her through a bad time. And that is why she supports him no matter what he does, even if she can’t defend any of it. I’m telling you, John.
